Help a college student graduate by answering a survey!!
Hey!! Are you over 18 and in the miraculous fandom? Then this is for you!!
Hi everyone, this is my last semester of uni, and one of my final projects to be able to graduate is to write a scientific paper. I'm writing an article about adult fans of children's animation, specifically Miraculous Ladybug. My goal is to understand what makes adults (like us) want to join fandoms centered around shows aimed primarily at children, and to do that I'd love to hear directly from the source! The survey takes around 10 minutes to answer, it's 100% anonymous and it would help me immensely!
I need at least 30 people to answer, but honestly the more the merrier! I've also made a little thank you gif at the end, so if you see it let me know! If you have any questions feel free to send me an ask, as well!
Please reblog so it can reach more people! Thank you so much!

a cowboy being secretly fond of you…
shares a book with you even though they can’t read
rides into town with you for an errand
bc they insist that they totally already have something to do there too!!
helps with your chores around camp (and sometimes beats you to it)
is extra protective during night outs at the saloon—leaning in to separate you from anyone too close or rowdy
gives you some of their stew rations because it’s your favourite today
lingers by the fire with you after everyone’s turned in
absentmindedly strums a sweet tune on their guitar while looking at you from afar
puts a small flower on your hat
packs an extra snack for you and your horse in your saddlebag before you head off

I'm so fascinated by the extra senses speedsters have and what the world must look like to them because of those extra senses.
They have extremely localized electrolocation: meaning that they can 'see' energy if it's close to them, they are touching it or if it's extremely strong. So Wally can see the electricity firing in his wife's brain when he holds her hand. Bart can see the electricity coursing from the wall, into the TV and gaming console, before swirling around inside the controller in his hands. When the dust and smoke is too thick to rely on vision, Barry can still see the energy in Hal's ring, even from a block away.
They also sense vibrations. They can hear them, if you will. Anything they touch thrums a different note. Different dimensions sing in a different key, a just off pitch. Some objects, like an office chair or a blade of grass, sing so quietly that they have to be close and really focus to hear it. Others, like a moving train or a pot of boiling water, scream so loudly that they can hear them from quite a distance away.
Yet that's not all. They can also feel time. Like trained scuba divers feeling the flow of the current, the ripples as they disrupt the calm. They can feel the jetstreams of nearby time travelers and they can trace it back to its source with startling accuracy. If time is an ocean then we only perceive it drop by drop. They can see how it stretches out, in every direction, every place that drop could flow.
The final sense they have is their ability to sense the speedforce. Every speedforce user is known to them, is felt, is seen. Regardless of distance, they can always see the little stars dotting the horizon, each one the barely contained supernova of their friends and family. They can see the speedforce as well as it flows and cracks and bubbles around them.
It's fascinating to me that they have all these extra senses. We see them casually mentioned but we never really see what that would look like. What this influx of stimulation would do to them.

There comes a point when you are doing too much research for fanfic, and that point is probably way before you’re looking up the interactions between the Cocos and Nazcas plates in order to decide where you would put a fictional island if you want it off the coast of Colombia.

Ok I just had a thought; If Hiro (The Master of the Railway) was a Monster Engine, he could be like Godzilla (power-wise), but if Godzilla was kind and wise.
Hiro is an interesting case as unlike with other characters (who weren't made with a particular ethnicity in mind), he's not an entirely blank slate and I think you do have to put his Japanese heritage into account. I have thoughts of including him but I personally want to avoid making him basically a "kind and wise Godzilla", so he's not going to be an engine that shoots radiation and so forth. I like the idea of implementing a bit of samurai in him though.
More context (a tad unrelated but still worth considering): If you've heard of Sodor Fallout, you may have also heard that the Japanese side of the fanbase was extremely offended by its usage of a nuclear power plant incident and the victims as a source of horror and shock value - notably because Japan experienced a large handful of nuclear disasters (and not just the 1945 bombings).

Hmmmm. This is likely a just western perspective, but it really feels like there's a lot more that could be done in JTTW retellings and general outsider understandings of Chinese religion, mythology, and folklore with the fact that one of the more popular stories concerning the Jade Emperor was that he--then known as Yu Huang--ascended to his current position after having defeated an incredibly powerful yaoguai king who was trying to take over heaven with an army of monsters & causing a lot of destruction in the process.
Like I know that the Jade Emperor's violence against his sister, nephews and niece, and daughter are rightfully infamous. But with this background you do have to wonder what it would be like to have gone through a literal cosmos-shaking war over heaven and are now in charge of human morality/the entire universe, but then no matter how hard you try to tame/kill him this fuckass monkey starts smashing everything to pieces and proclaiming he won't stop the destruction until you step down so he can rule instead.
Really seems like a potential case of if you live long enough you'll start seeing the same horrors happening again.

when at the library today i picked up a book abt typography to pick up some more theoretical skills there and to no one's surprise it pretended that european languages were the only languages in the world which like whatever i'll still learn what principles it has to teach and then try to reverse-engineer applications to cn font design based on what i know.
despite not trusting the english-language resources available online to be as in-depth or technical as i desire, i got curious and googled "chinese typographic design" anyway n scrolling through the introduction to the first result, you can kind of tell it's not written with a chinese-speaking audience in mind, or at the very least an audience with some semblance of chinese cultural sensitivities bc its section headed by the words "navigating the simplified and traditional divide" goes on to basically say it's an Aesthetic Decision which. well. is certainly a way to pretend you're avoiding politics.

it's been a longstanding tradition of mine ever since i developed a sudden obsession with making tea to talk about what kind of tea my muses would drink but i regret to inform that striker by default has probably just straight up never had tea.
