I really don't like folks who talk about the future only in terms of violent revolution, an' I like even less folks who talk about the future like it'll be some return to basic agrarianism where we give up all our modern amenities.

Nah. The future is Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism. The future is green electricity so cheap we got more'n we could ever use. The future is AI used not to put artists and authors out of a job, but ta' do all the things ya' hate ta' do, like mine coal or clean the cat box. The future is mass transit everywhere, but also personal vehicles that are more efficient, more comfortable, and far safer than the ones we've got today. The future is all the awesome cyberpunk tech, with none of the evil cyberpunk oppression.

An' sure, we'll need fighters, an' farmers, an' weavers. But mebbe focus a little less on survivalism, an' a little more on organizin' support networks an formin' not just little communities, but whole cities of 'em.

So I have recently realized that, when something marginalizing happens to me, I end up having daydreams of gay authoritarianism. Like, someone will say something homophobic in front of me, and I'll end up just thinking that maybe the government from 1984 made some points. Like YEAH, 1984 is bad, free speech is good, liberty is good, blah blah blah...but what if we had a society where people were equal in terms of gender/ethnicity/sexuality and bigots were hauled off to a giant cement pyramid to have their fingers removed until they respect gay marriage?

Sounds like a solution to the tolerance paradox to me.

By way of context, global gdp is currently around $100 trillion.

If M&C are correct, we’re looking at a 10% increase, which is enormous. If AIM is correct, we’re looking at a 200% increase, which is unfathomable. If the result is somewhere in the middle, around $100T, we’re still looking at a 100% increase in global GDP.

Basically, AI is either going to turbocharge the economy, or it’s going to blast our economy into another universe, or something in between.

We are not ready.

Hey, I just released the final (13th) chapter of my Witch From Mercury fic!

It’s an AU where Suletta is a girl from a backwater planet with no piloting experience and no real exposure to the space-trillionare lifestyle, who’s found herself in an arranged marriage with Guel Jeturk, where one of her main wifely duties will be to serve as his champion in MS duels and such. Miorine is a societal outcast who offers to teach her how to pilot so her sham engagement doesn’t fall apart.

For the more sci-fi inclined, I get into a lot of the specifics of piloting (including AI-copiloting and the relationship between pilot and AI), mobile suit design, the logistics of dueling and mecha-sports and the ranking system behind it, as well as the politics of Space Corpo-Feudalism.

For the more slice-of-life inclined, I’ve got: Suletta-Guel-Miorine complicated love triangle, several polyamorous characters, friends teasing each other, trans!Miorine, Shaddiq being Shaddiq, mutual pining, angst, totally platonic kissing, and generally Complicated Feelings.

It’s got intense mecha fight scenes, drama, romance, worldbuilding, the whole shebang.
