Okay following Steve’s self discovery journey is great, but nothing excites me as everyone taking him for a straight™️ and Steve being like “what??? I’ve literally dated guys before??? i literally cannot with this scene. i decided to count how many times there’s a steddie glance/eye/contact and i just cannot believe what a fucking gold mine it is. first up: double side glance from eddie

next up: (my personal fave) is we noticed eddie’s hand on steve’s shoulder AFTER the moment was over but I have just realised that eddie’s hand was ALREADY there before they were celebrating the “hi” -> you may need to look closely here but trust, eddie’s hand does not move from steve’s shoulder this entire duration. and then we have steve touching eddie’s shoulder for a moment - which means their arms are definitely overlapping/there’s mutual contact- ITS THE LITTLE THINGS OKAY ??

and then of course we have this moment where they’re being dustin’s dad’s but then eddie is also just gawking and the way the scene cuts between their two lines looks like there was definitely a take where they were looking at each other the whole time lmao and basically i’m really mentally unwell okay you guys. i’m just. they are down bad. this whole scene (including robin and nancy)…? is just a fruit salad.

steves parents always gave him material stuff, but never love. money, clothes and everything he could ask for. for his sixteenth birthday, they got him the car. back then, steve‘s dad still thought his son was gonna work for him and end up "successful" in life.

the first thing steve bought for himself, with the money that he worked for, which isnt a lot but it’s still his work, was a pair of shoes. he’d spent some money before, getting burgers for the Party, financing a day in the Arcade and obviously paying for gas, but the first thing he buys only for himself? a pair of basketball trainers. nothing fancy, no brand, nothing.

eddie is really worried when they start dating, the only thing he’s ever bought for himself was his sweetheart, the guitar that he saved up for for nearly a year (stolen gas tanks and occasionally walking to school, hand-me-down clothes and cheap food being a price he’s willing to pay for the guitar). so when he and steve start dating, eddie is so worried about this stuff. steve isnt a higschool girl and eddie hasnt dated before (a few hookups here and there, but nothing like classic dating). he’s never had anyone spending money on him, uncle wayne tries but his job isn’t the best paying either.

it doesn’t take long for both of them to realise that the other one has soo much to give of what they were deprived of their entire life. steve loves giving eddie little gifts, brings home dinner and goes shopping with him (one day he showed up with a brand new black sabbath shirt - eddie cried a little). eddie is always touching steve, even in public where they should hold back a little. he’s holding steves hand, has an arm around his waist or shoulder or giving steve little kisses on his forehead. steve loves waking up to eddie cuddling up close to him, his boyfriens arm lazily over his torso and their legs tangled. at night, when steve is cooking for eddie, eddie is with him, telling him about a band gig, lazily hugging steve from behind, resting his head on his shoulder blade, nuzzling kisses into his back.

its so casual for both of them, neither of them thinking of it much, but it means so much for the other one.

steve harrington is so fucking touch starved, it’s insane. he’s just never experienced it, who was there to hug him? his parents? yeah right. nannies? too busy. nancy? she doesn’t strike me as the most cuddly person.

so when eddie comes around, always up in steves personal space, touching him, always in his vicinity, it overwhelms steve a little. cause you know, it’s not just about touch, it’s affection and love and he cant have that with a guy, right? he’s straight after all.

steve spends the nights alone, hugging himself, cuddling into pillows, wrapping himself in blankets and at some point he remembers tommy h. tommy, who sometimes clapped him on the back. tommy, who would hold his hand in pre-school. tommy, who shoved him against a car. and his mind wanders to eddie, again. it does that quite a lot in the past few weeks. steve calls robin and explains it all to her and has to wait five minutes for her to stop laughing, before she says through tears "you’re not straight, dingus" and hangs up.

the thought develops in his brain. he’s heard of bisexuality, robins mentioned it at some point. he tries to describe himself like that and figures it fits, why shouldnt he get to like both?

he quickly not only embraces eddies touchiness, but reciprocates. his hands linger on eddies arms, he hugs him as he comes and goes, the end up cuddling during movie nights. eddie notices this change but he’s so scared, i mean this is harrington. king steve. there’s no way, right? but when eddie finds himself cuddled between a bunch of kids in the harrington mansion, steve on his lap, pretty much cuddling himself deeper into his embrace, he almost kisses him right then and there.

eddie comes back the next day because he forgot something and jokingly mentions it to steve, mentions how if he’d have asked, eddie would’ve kissed him last night. steve turns red and stumbles his way to the question "and if i ask now?" eddie swears his heart stops for 30 seconds but they end up kissing. it starts out gentle and soft, not wanting to overstep, but they end up in steves bed making out like horny teenagers. eddie stays that night and steve has never slept better than with eddie wrapped around him, spooning him, caressing his cheek and kissing his forehead.
