in germany, chris evan‘s roles (including steve) are mostly voiced by dennis schmidt-foß, but as johnny storm he‘s voiced by benedikt weber, and it made for a really cool moment during dp&w. bc wade’s super convinced that he‘s steve, but all the german people who watch the german dub of marvel movies religiously are already like huh??? bc that‘s NOT steve rogers‘ voice, and then when it’s revealed that he‘s actually johnny, wade‘s like "ah yeah, i should’ve known from the voice". and idk, it’s not hilarious or anything, but it just made me soo happy that they used wade‘s 4th wall breaks differently in different languages. just felt the need to share this

I really think it's highly important to share the german dub of this scene with all my fellow zosan fans.

Sanji: "When everything is over here... and I begin to loose my mind... you have to kill me, Zoro"

Sanji calling Zoro by his name so softly and desperately... my heart just skipped a beat!

Something I love about the memory of Zelda and Sonia in the German dub of TotK...

(Translation: And your Link, too, is surely awaiting your return.)

Sonia uses the phrase "dein Link" ("your Link") here, which in German is a common phrase to indicate the belief that someone might have romantic feelings for another person. And the way Pauliner Weiner (Sonia's German VA) delivers this line very much indicates that she is indeed teasing Zelda a little here! Sonia ships Zelink confirmed!!

But wait. There's more!

(Translation: May one ask who this Link is?)

Rauru definitely notices this too! His tone, as well as the use of the very specific article "dieser" ("this") indicate as much. If he was simply curious about who Link is in order to follow the conversation, he would more likely use the phrase "Darf ich fragen, wer Link ist?" ("May I ask who Link is?"). He is also teasing Zelda a little here.

Zelda's reply is also very sweet! While her first two lines are nothing special (she is essentially just recapping the events Breath of the Wild, as well as what led up to it), it gets interesting once Rauru reacts to her description, once again in a somewhat teasing manner (indicated by both the delivery and the language of the line):

(Translation: Oh, a hero you say.)

To which Zelda replies with:

(Translation: Link is the most steadfast and fearless knight who ever existed.)

(Translation: Yes...)

(Translation: He is so strong...)

That last line is pretty much the same in English, but Julia Casper (Zelda's German VA) does an amazing job making it sound like Zelda is not only admiring Link throughout this entire short monologue she is having, but like she is talking more to herself than to Rauru and Sonia, almost like she forgets they're there for a moment because she is thinking about Link. I really loved this little touch!

Also note that Zelda is not explicitly talking about physical strength in the last line (although she might be. It isn't clarified, leaving the interpretation of what kind of strength she is talking about up to the player).

(Translation: ... and on top of it all, he has a good heart!)

This last part seems to be directed at Rauru and Sonia again. But we're still not done!

After Rauru remarks that Zelda seems to think highly of Link and that the way she's talking about her knight makes him want to meet him, Sonia agrees and delivers a final line that, once again, makes it very clear that the two of them are engaging in a little bit of good-mannered teasing in this scene (both from what's actually said here and how Paulina Weiner delivers the line):

(Translation: Chivalrous, and full of gallantry...)

(Translation: Don't make us so curious, Zelda!)

And then they all break out in light-hearted laughter.

All in all, I really love this scene! Huge respect to the German VAs, who did an absolutely stellar job (not just in this scene, but for the game in general - especially Julia Casper!).

As before mentioned i am watching Season 2 in the german dub and i noticed something in Episode 4:

Shax refers to them in the English dub as an item.

However in German she says:

Weißt du, ich hab in den vergangenen 80, 90 Jahren immer wieder gehört, dass du und Crowley was miteinander hättet.

And that phrasing doesn’t sound like how you would talk about a romantic relationship at all.

When referring to a romantic relationship she would say something along the lines of …, dass du und Crowley zusammen wärt.

„Being an item“ is a polite way to say it.

„Ihr habt was miteinander“ is not.

It completely breaks how eloquent Shax usually talks, as in a polite manner you wouldn’t say it like that, you would probably say that they’re having an affair, if you‘re already accusing them of a sexual affair. The way Shax said it would be the way young people would talk in an unserious environment.

I even asked a friend how they would interpret it and they also said it sounded way more like you would describe someone fucking a coworker than being a pair.

It‘s just absolutely hilarious to me how much that changes how Hell sees their relationship, in the English version i would believe that they think that they’re dating.

Not in the German version. They’re fucking nasty.

So, if dabi was allowed to live a normal life after all this mess, do you think he'd introduced himself as touya or dabi?

i think that highly depends on whom he's talking to and I find it so interesting that there are valid reasons for him to use either name :) I personally prefer dabi because that's who he is in the present, so somebody like endeavor or hawks referring to him as Touya doesn't sit right with me because in their case, it reflects a rejection of how dabi is now, whereas sb like shoto or toga refers to Dabi as Touya out of love and genuine understanding <3

like I think dabi would hate to hear hawks utter his government name because who does he think he is lol, I think he would insist on hawks keeping his childhood name out of his motuh (though i doubt they're interested in talking post-war)

I like how he vacillates between both names, like while he is not 12yo touya anymore and people have to accept him as dabi because that's just who he is whether people like it or not, but Touya is also his origin and people musn't forget that!!!!!! so yeah it depends on the interpersonal context i think

hello everyone i can happily confirm that sonadow also canon in german. sonic uses the romantic "ich liebe dich" instead of the platonic "ich habe dich lieb." this is, what, the fourth language where this happens? congrats to the furry destiel!

A short list of my favorite language dubs for dungeon meshi characters (Main Cast)

Marcille: English (She’s the most expressive with her flustered behavior)

Laios and Falin: German (They sound their age and plus they kinda look German lol)

Chilchuck: French and German (both make him sound like an adult and empathize on his sassy and annoyed nature. I like the French a little more because French sounds funny when people are angry)

Senshi: Spanish and English (The voices fit his face the best)

Overall, I think the German and French dubs have the best voice cast.

In light of my nephew recently starting botw in German

(The fun thing about growing up with dubbing is realising the distinct lack of different VAs, so you end up randomly hearing Lego show characters blasting through the living room because someone is watching a dub.)
