I was wearing black lipstick, white foundation, black eyeliner and red eye shadow. I was walking outside Hogwarts. It was snowing and raining so there was no sun, which I was very happy about. A lot of preps stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them.

so. sherlock and co has already been adapting stories from after sherlock returns from the dead, in the timeline of publication of original stories. which makes me realize the possibility that the show might END somewhere around the final problem (or they will do some sort of seasonal divide, perhaps).

but my goodness imagine getting through all other 60 or so (depending on what, exactly, they decide to go into) stories, at least over 100 episodes at that point, and realizing the final problem is all that's left to adapt. I don't have many thoughts about this podcast, beyond casually enjoying it as a longtime fan of the original Holmes and Watson stories, but DAMN it would hit me hard if they had some sort of ending with Holmes' death.

I would actually be really into the show seeming completely done with the final problem and then, perhaps a few months or a year later, getting some sort of epilogue or resolution focusing on Holmes' return. I don't exactly think this will happen, but damn am I curious about if, when, and how they will adapt Sherlock's death.

on another note, I also am deeply curious about how their moriarty will turn out, but that is neither here nor there

royal fiction is extremely concerned with who is next in line for the throne. It's on everyone's minds all the time and all the characters assume it's on everyone elses' minds all the time

Hamlet is v interesting because Ham seems to be the only person operating under the normal royal fiction mindset. He went from the king's son and heir to the king's stepson and heir-until-the-king-has-biological-offspring (presumably Gertrude hasn't had menopause yet) which is an extremely dangerous position to be in and nobody is worried for his life

Spare*, the prince henry memoir, is a really good contrast to royal fiction and a total flip from Hamlet. Everyone around Henry is aware of what being the spare in the modern age means and assumes he's as preoccupied with wanting to be the heir as everyone always is in royal fiction. Meanwhile Henry thinks his only job as spare has been the same job as all spares before him, just to stay alive

*i've posted about this book before and there are always notes about how it's ok for him to have been manipulated his whole life and have every mistake leaked to the press because he grew up as a literal prince, fuck off with that shit. Kids should be raised with love and kindness and respect regardless of the family they were born into
