Shipper Tag Game
Thank you @godotismissingx for the tag! ❤️❤️❤️
Sorry that it took so much time 😅
Okay let's go!
1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?
There were some k-pop ships I used to ship but as time went by I just stopped. Maybe because I’m not as much into k-pop as I used to be.
I also don’t ship any of Hetalia’s characters anymore.
2. Which ship would you consider your first one?
Stella and Brandon from Winx Club or Kevin and Gewn from Ben 10: Alien Force. That was even before I was aware of what shipping was.
While I was aware, I think it was Shizaya? Durarara was one of the first animes I watched. And Heiwajima Shizuo and Orihara Izaya's love-hate relationship was so good for a 12-year-old me.
Or it could be SasuNaru…
3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?
Written it was Merciless.
But read? That was so long time ago...
I remember I found some Ben 10 stories on the Internet and I read a lot of them as a kid.
But when I read and I was aware I was reading fanfics it was most likely SasuNaru or Darry. It was most likely still on Wattpad or fanfiction.net. On or those self-publishing blogs. Those were popular back then.
4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?
Probably SasuNaru. Or another ship that was popular at the beginning of the 2010s.
5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?
I try not to. I mostly believe that fiction is fiction and when I don't like something I just don't read it.
I like to read people's points of view though.
6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?
Not really. I used to hate UkFrance from Hetalia but now I just don't care. And I never really shipped Destiel. But I'm not sure I would call them a no-otp.
7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?
A new chapter of Merciless fic that I'm always waiting for was published. It's called Hidsight by duty_free. AND IT'S AWESOME, GO READ IT. It's a wonderful continuation to The Merciless that can actually fix those two morons (I have hope, it's still ongoing)
Before it, my friend @frayed-at-the-seams published her fic about Junho and Hoyeol from D.P. It's called Dogs and Cats. It's an interesting supernatural spin on the original story and it allows Junho and Hoyeol to be cute ❤️
8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?
Of course. My absolute favorite obsession is Han Jaeho x Jo Hyunsoo from The Merciless
But there is more:
Roronora Zoro x Sanji (Zosan) from One Piece
Sakata Gintoki x Hijikata Toshirou (GinHiji) from Gintama
Shizuo Heiwajima x Orihara Izaya (Shizaya) from Durarara!!
Oga Tatsumi x Furuichi Takayuki (OgaFuru) from Beelzebub
Lee Dongsik x Han Juwon from Beyond Evil
Kang Yohan x Kim Gaon (GaHan) from Devil Judge
An Junho x Han Hoyeol from D.P.
Miyuki Kazuya x Sawamura Eijun (MiyuSawa) from Ace of Diamond
James T. Kirk x Spock from Star Trek
Merlin x Arthur Pendragon from BBC Merlin
James Bond x Q (00Q) from James Bond movies
Harry Hart x Gary "Eggsy" Unwin from Kingsman movies
Tony Stark aka Iron Man x Steve Rogers aka Captain America from Marvel Comics (comics only.)
Peter Parker aka Spiderman and Wade Wilson aka Deadpool from the Marvel Comics
Loid Forger x Yor Forger from SPY X FAMILY
Hino Eiji x Akhn (EiAn) from Kamen Rider OOO
Shijima Go x Chase from Kamen Rider Drive
Kiryu Sento x Banjo Ryuga from Kamen Rider Build
and many many more
Also as an exception to my k-pop rule, I still ship ChanBaek from EXO.
9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?
Robin and Barney from How I Met Your Mother. I get that it was planned from the beginning for Ted to end up with Robin but did they have to make Robin and Barney so good???
Also, Merthur, like they had a whole story about them? All 5 seasons?
And Sterek.
10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?
Zeke x Levi from Shingeki no Kyojin. I used to not be much into it but there is an amazing reincarnation comic AU on twitter (here) with them and I have to say that they have a potential.
11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be canceled over?
Not sure... There were some ships that I wasn't aware of age. I don't mind ships with big age differences but I like for both parties to be over 18.
So maybe as an example Levi x Eren? Eren was 15 and now looking back I'm not sure if I would ship it.
12. What was your favorite crack ship?
Tried to think of something but my head is empty. I don't believe I don't have any crack ships!
13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?
Shizaya, GinHiji or ChanBaek. They have big fandoms so I could just move from one fic to another.
Also YoonMin. I used to ship them a lot but now not really but I read a lot of fics with them.
14. What most of your ships usually have in common?
They usually banter or tease each other. Those love-hate relationships are my favorites. And more of them lately have an age difference.
15. What you absolutely hate in a ship?
Lack of chemistry? I hate too much drama but also don't like where everything is fine. And cheating.

Akiba Maid Wars Review! *~Minor Spoilers BEWARE~*
Tumblr media
Long time no see! I've been occupied with living, and boy, it's been annoying. Anyways, I watched Akiba Maid Wars during my long summer break and decided to write a review because it was one of the only series I actually finished since this year began [which says something abt this anime b/c I never finish anything].
First things first, this anime was hella funny because the concept was one of its kind: maid cafes x gang/mafia. The great dichotomy between those two concepts in itself is hard not to make iconic, and engaging the audience is quite simple when the "surprise" factor IS the plot. But...
...do you see how that can be problematic already?--detrimental and damaging to this whole anime?
I'm going to try to not get too rant-y because credit does need to be given to where it deserves, and this anime was very entertaining.
Pros: The characters had distinct, comical personalities. Although it was a bit stereotypical [a hopeful MC, stern friend, cute/cold friend, cute/violent friend], it wasn't a huge splinter to the story. I'll just say everyone had a funny dynamic with one another and the obstacles they went through because their characters were all different. The villain was a bit boring, but again, not a huge problem. For the plot, it wasn't anything mind-blowing or new, but it was decent mostly because it was so funny. It's so damn hilarious to think that cute maid girls are actually gangsters. I laughed a lot at each episode because of how ridiculous it was, and many scenarios were quite memorable. It made me think the writers probably had a good laugh themselves when writing a maid festival where cute maid groups had to fight each other/climb a huge maid statue to win and get more prestige and sales.
Now I'm not going to lie; there were many eyebrow-raising moments because things just didn't make sense/came off as unnatural.
That goes right into my cons: the plot execution was so messy. Not "just" messy, SO messy. It really affects the viewing experience about halfway through the season, even to the point that I just wanted to drop it. I can see that at the beginning of the series, there was a clear vision the creators had: to shock viewers when cute maid girls suddenly kill each other [obviously, like gangs]. I think they were also going for a meme/gag aesthetic. The first episode accomplished it well, but they already utilized the "surprise factor", so how were they going to top it off in the next 11 episodes? The scenarios began to get severely repetitive, predictable, and the weight of death wasn't there at all, with no consequences or realistic emotional damage. This is a huge problem; it strips away the human quality of the characters/setting that is based on IRL concept of maid cafes in Japan. If they were going for a totally unrealistic/absurd vibe, I'll take it, but the anime seemed confused, because they tried to add real sentimentality of gang stories.
SO at about episode 6 or 7, it was a struggle. They had nothing more to work with in later episodes as the same situations kept happening with loosely mended solutions. Sure, there was a plot to address, but in between that seemed like filler episodes of either kidnappings, sabotage, gun fights, and meaningless deaths. And I'll just say it now, there is such a thing as TOO MUCH killing sprees and character deaths, especially when it's either used as a brainless resolution or a pointless attempt at "shocking" the viewers. It just didn't make it enjoyable anymore, and I know the execution could've been better had they carefully constructed HOW they were going to present important plot points and HOW they were going to solve it. Were they going for a coherent story? Or just a gag (think Gintama) vibe? The humorous situations were what kept this anime going, but then you'd think about the foundational plot and wonder how serious (or unserious) it was, and just end up getting frustrated with the way things pan out.
As for the ending, it was nonsensically abrupt and did not make much sense; I think I constantly questioned, "Why am I still watching this?" at that point. But, you know, I commend the writers for giving it a happy ending than the miserable/sadder ones I see in mainstream media. They got the main message across pretty good: Maid's are defined by their duty to bring happiness. It isn't about power, money, or glory. I suppose you can apply this idea to numerous roles in our societies. Overall, a 6/10 watch.
It was a decent, turn-off brain series to watch, so if that's what you're looking for alongside good laughs, I recommend it. If you hate messy, nonsensical stories to the point that it exhausts you (i was indeed a bit exhausted) don't watch it.

Anime I Watched in 2023, Part 1:
1. God Troubles Me 5/5
This is technically called a donghua but we’ll consider this an anime for this list. This show is the Chinese version of Gintama and I am for it. It so hilariously charming that I got addicted quickly. There wasn’t a single character that I disliked. In fact, there wasn’t a single episode that made me bored. The animation style was godly that it definitely gave a lot of Japanese anime a run for their money. Please, please, please give this one a chance.
Tumblr media
2. Mob Psycho 100 100/10
Epic. Brilliant. Heart warming. Those are not enough to describe how much I loved this anime but it’ll have to do. Seriously, this one blew me away. I thought it was just a quirky anime about a middle schooler going psycho whenever he’s pissed but I’m so glad I was wrong. The second season caught me by surprise; it’s definitely my favorite of the three. Mob’s character development happened so effortlessly that I actually had to take a moment to let it all seep in on how much he changed. Also Reigen is the best Master in the anime universe, hands down. His confession to Mob at the end brought tears to my eyes, he truly cared for Mob.
Tumblr media
3. Charlotte 4/5
Absolutely loved this one. The reason that this didn't get 5 stars was because the ending felt a bit rushed. Also, I didn't like Kumagami dying. He was such a vital character that I felt like we should've explored more. If I was the MC I would've definitely travelled back in time just to save him. Overall, I highly recommend this anime.
Tumblr media
4. Barakamon 5/5
After watching a depressing anime like Charlotte, you definitely need something lighthearted to watch and this was really got me out of my funk. I wasn't expecting this to be so funny, honestly. This was such a warm, funny, slice of life that made me crave living in the countryside.
Tumblr media
5. Blue Lock 5/5
Ok I have to admit I didn't start off liking this one. Isagi's whining was grating on my nerves. Thankfully, I have learnt the error of my ways and have now come to realize that Isagi is HIM! Holy crap the development of this boy was crazzzzyy. There are so many interesting characters in this show that I was confused who was the real main character. Also, it was so refreshing to have an anime without the power of friendship; it was every man for themselves and I was absolutely there for it.
Tumblr media
6. Play It Cool Guys 5/5
Ahhhh this was such a cute wholesome anime! If you're stressed out with life please just watch these adorkable group of young men try to navigate their lives. It was so nice to see the uncool side of guys for once. The episodes were short and sweet and I really hope we get another season of them.
Tumblr media
7. Tomo-chan is a Girl! 5/5
This was such a funny and sweet show. I'm always a sucker for friends to lovers romance so this was right up my alley. This anime also had so many charming side characters that I couldn't but fall in love with them also.
Tumblr media
8. Ice Guy and his Cool Work Colleague 5/5
I felt so single watching this. How do I sign up to work at their company? I swear everyone was finding love and being all happy while all I get in my workplace is stress and more stress. It was also so refreshing to have a romance anime with adults and not high schoolers.
Tumblr media
9. Demon Slayer Season 3 5/5
Another great season to another great anime. Can I just add that I loved the OP from episode one while everyone was hating on it; it was such a banger! The animation was once again top tier that I can't wait to see what the studio does when animating the last arc. This was a tough season to compete with the flashy brilliance of Tengen's last season but they did wonderfully. I'm glad I got to see my baby girl Mitsuri finally animated.
Tumblr media
10. My Love For Yamada -kun is Lv 999 5/5
I watched the first episode right after it aired and I knew I couldn't hold out for another week. I devoured the manga! It was that good. The anime definitely didn't disappoint. This was such a sweet, comforting anime that put my cynical heart at ease. I really hope that we get more seasons because my boy Yamada is the standard!

tagged by @recentadultburnout. What are my fave top 9 shows in no particular order. I finally have time to do this since I'm finally not homeless.
1. Gintama!!!
Whenever I'm feeling down I just watch this show. It does it's comedy really well. My favorite arcs are the lottery win arc and the reunion/kuroko no basuke parody mini-arc.
2. Doraemon
. . . Don't judge me! It's the first comic book collection I owned since it's relatively cheap. I still remember sobbing to the volume 6 ending when I was in 4rth grade. I thought it was the angstiest shit. Also my introduction to Japanese folktales.
3. Bad Buddy
Recent addition. Just something about the family dynamics that makes me writhe in an unpleasant personal way. 11/10 would torture myself thinking of Pran's family dynamics.
4 and 5. Julie and the Phantoms/My School President
This list makes makes me look 12 doesn't it? Ah who cares! I love a good musical. Especially a classic highschool teen as a protaganist. Musically, I like My School President's OST better but I really really love Julie. (Also both of these won't get a season 2).
6. Bocchi the Rock
A recent addition! . . . And another high school musical. I love fluff, friendships, interpersonal, and internal conflicts. My love for musicals like fulfills my need for real life friends who are attentive to your needs and wants and is there when you need them.
7. Oh No! Here Comes Trouble!
Anyone remember the time when Taiwanese dramas were all the rage back in early to late 2000's in Asia? Taiwan came in clutch and showed us how great they are at acting, writing, and nuance. Sobbed myself to the point of dehydration during the John Doe arc. I really like dramas with a slice of life-ish feel to it.
8. Avatar: The Last Airbender
I spend too much of my idle time arguing the pros and cons of different elements as if I can actually become a bender. So far I settled on earth as my element. It's just so fun. I hope there's an atla interest revival every 5 years.
9. Good Omens
One of my forever fandoms. I have a copy of the book that looks like shit but that's only because it is so loved. Everytime I crack it open, intending to only read the first few pages I end up nearly halfway to rereading it. And the tv live adaptation was so good. It's like Aziraphale and Crowley walked off the fandom's collective imagination and into the screen. I hope we get season 3 and I hope it's smooth sailing. I always wanted to write something for this fandom but watching the television made me realize British English is a whole 'nother beast and I'd rather not make a fool of myself.

One Piece - Entry #2
Tumblr media
It would've felt weird for some of my first post to be some random thing, so I wanted to start off by highlighting my latest life-changing piece of media: One Piece
A few years ago, I was hitting the workout routine really hard. Pedaling on the stationary bike for 40+ minutes almost every single day. In order to do that, you either need the patience of a god, or more likely, something to entertain yourself with. I've been working out for several years now, so I was already in the habit of watching some kind of YouTube video or show while pedaling to make the time less dreadful.
I had just finished going through Gintama, a great show that I really loved, and realized that I needed a show that would last a good while. A really good while, preferably. And what show is more notorious about its length (for better or for worse) than One Piece?
I was already intrigued by its basic idea, but otherwise I didn't have any expectations other than two things:
It was long, meaning I could rely on it being workout entertainment for a very long time!
People really loved it. Like, so much.
So, I got into it, and, it didn't take long for me to really like it. Just watching it in its original 4:6 quality gave me a rush of nostalgia for a time I didn't partake of much as a kid. Even to this day, the older seasons of One Piece give me intense nostalgia, too.
But man, the show wasn't huge on battle scenes or anything bombastic, but it was still interesting enough to make me want to keep watching, and thus, keep working out. Already, a big winner, and even in the first couple hundred episodes, I could tell I loved the show. Already, it had been doing everything I wanted a show to do, and even a bit more!
There was a period a few months later, around the Thriller Bark arc, where my motivation waned. I stopped caring too much about the show, because honestly, that arc felt more like meandering than the other ones, and its aesthetic (Halloween-typed spooks) was never something I loved. Not to mention I was just low in energy in general. I don't think it was quite this intense, but there definitely were a few points where I just did not want to get back into the groove of watching it.
But something spurred me to continue watching, and continue exercising. So I did, and it was the best decision I had ever made.
The Summit War arc that soon followed was intense, and honestly, it got me so vehemently invested that I... stopped using the show as workout fodder. Instead, I just... started watching it outside of my exercises. Something I pleaded to myself not to do, because the whole point was to maintain something to keep myself working out. But by that point, I couldn't just not watch anymore. I couldn't go at the pace of two episodes a day. I needed to consume it.
I don't regret it, really. Sure, my workout pace is still kinda bad compared to before, but I feel like that's due to other outside factors. In the end, 500+ episodes deep into the show, I realized that this was something that was going to change me.
I don't really know exactly when it happened, but at some point, the show started to overtake me. Even more so than any other form of media had. Not to the point where I made it my whole personality, or obsessed over it. I've never really been one for obsession, there's too many things in life that I like. But, man, this got pretty close. And at the very least, at some point...
The show became a new king of media for me.
In the past, the only forms of media that had a stranglehold onto my psyche were things like Zelda, or... Well, it's hard to think of an example that fits alongside the Zelda series. And yet, here One Piece was, rivaling it!
It's hard for me to put into words what it was about it that gripped me as much as it did. Luffy, one of my favorite characters in fiction now, was a perfect vessel to explore what it was that I felt in my core, that was missing. Pure sunshine, a sense of adventure and unwavering will. Extreme loyalty to himself and his ideals. A good heart but not a platitudinous one. And just the sense of comradery that I love in any fiction, a kind that makes me want to be a part of that group.
Perhaps, if it were just one thing that gripped me, then it wouldn't have gripped me much at all. Maybe that's the point, the grab bag of so many things that resonate with me. The extremely in-depth world building, the great character writing, the overall narrative, the fun and diverse power system, the themes of anti-government and freedom, the memorable and fun art style.
I don't know how I'll feel about One Piece in the future. How it'll develop, how it'll end, how my thoughts will evolve. But I can say, without a doubt, that it has left a mark on me. To the point where, some of the ideals I may write about in this journal system will be inspired from the show, in one way or another.
I want to journal because I want to explore and experience the world, and I want to be able to remember those experiences. A motivation I've always had to some extent, but that One Piece truly fleshed out and revived. I'm still in the process of healing my hesitation and anxiety, the chains holding me back from doing whatever I want whenever I want. And as much as I try, I always end up feeling fatigued, my body unable to keep up to my ideals.
But hopefully these journals can at least help me remember the things that I do experience. And, as unforgettable as One Piece is for me, I figure there's no better way to start than going over my little experience with it.

I was tagged by @sebfreak to do this. I DIS-THANK YOU FOR THE TAG, COMING UP WITH JUST 9 WAS TORTURE ;-; tho uhm my non tsundere self thanks you i suppose
and i went with anime characters, didn't want to include games, kdramas, tv-shows whatever :p it would take me ages :p
Put your 9 fave characters in no particular order!
1. Takasugi Shinsuke
Tumblr media
no surprises here, none at all :p i've liked anime characters before, but shinsuke smh vacuumed my soul and hasn't returned it since. not only do i love him beyond what words can describe, but he's also one of the four characters i relate the most. (my four devas arc lmao)
he can keep it.
2. Senjougahara Hitagi
Tumblr media
i just love her so much, she might as well be my number 1 female character. for the longest time i considered her my anime alter ego, so aye second member of my devas
3. Sakata Gintoki
Tumblr media
gintoki might as well be the best anime protagonist ever created. he is not only extremely relatable, but his story gets rooted in you. when gin-chan cries, we cry. when gin-chan laughs, we laugh. he is our gin--chan.
third member of my devas
4. Shinomiya Kaguya
Tumblr media
how cute? yes she is extremely cute and i adore her! i'd probably die for her or defend her to the death. yes, i have a huge thing for tsundere, sue me.
fourth member of my devas.
5. Zura janai Katsura da
Tumblr media
wdym that's not his name?!?!?! all jokes aside, katsura is my reason for starting gintama. i love everything about him and just like kaguya, i'm ready to defend him to the death! innocent cinnamon roll worthy of protection!
6. Makima
Tumblr media
makima is easily one of the most well written characters i've seen. i love to hate her, i hate to love her, it's a weird relationship but she definitely deserves a spot in my top 10.
7. Lelouch vi Britannia
Tumblr media
it's been 7 years and i still can't forget the second season's finale. lelouch was simply brilliant and perhaps was one of the very first anime characters i truly enjoyed!
8. Kocho Shinobu
Tumblr media
honestly i was torn between shinobu and misato from nge for this spot. i love them both but i have a soft spot for girls who seek revenge and have butterflies in their designs, so shinobu got it! i love her personality so much, i wish the manga expanded even more on her
9. Hikigaya Hachiman
Tumblr media
this boy is beyond a mood. just look at his face, so devoid of life. the reason why i love hachiman as a character is bcs he isn't shallow and he really seeks something profound that's hard to find. even if he knows it's hard to find, he keeps searching for meaning and in the end, his character development and change of views pays off so much! i was between him and gaara for this position, but i let him have it.
FINAL WORDS
my top 9 is sort of in order though i wasn't asked to do that. shinsuke is definitely my number 1 and then my number 2 realistically is a tie between hitagi and gintoki. there are sooo many characters i wanted to include, such as lucy (elfen lied), gaara (naruto), misato and shinji (nge), koro-sensei (assassination classroom) and like at least a few more gintama character, but i tried to keep it diverse. yes, i tend to like characters with whom i can relate, and that's why this list is plagued by tsundere lmao
I tag @unstable-viper @faidrafuchsia and @toi-yama to do this if they want to, and whoever else wants to participate is welcome!

I may not speak Spanish but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t mean that, Gintoki producer.

Anime I Watched in 2021 :
1. Dororo 5/5
Severely underrated anime. Great animation. Intriguing plot. Likable characters. Just enough of angst. Highly recommend this one.

2. Burn the Witch 4/5
Great to see Tite Kubo’s work again. And great to see the bleach universe once more. Can’t wait for this to continue. Already love the story and characters. Interesting villains (and by interesting I mean hawt 🥵)
Tumblr media
3. Fruits Basket 2019 5/5
Listen I didn’t want to like this one. It was so hyped that I thought it was overrated but booooyyy was I wrong. It deserved the hype. The plot was top tier. At the end of the second season I had to pick my jaw off the ground with that reveal. All the characters were likable. Except Akito; she deserved punishment for what she put all the members of the Zodiac through. Overall this is highly recommended.

4. Re: Zero 4/5
This one took me to Spain without the S. This one frustrated me but I just had to keep on going. Subaru is the biggest simp but I can’t blame him; Emilia is just the cutest. Really liked this one but I’m not sure if I’m emotionally ready for the next season. Also this anime made me scared of bunnies 🐰

5. Gintama 1,00,000/5
Where do I even begin with this masterpiece. I went into this for the comedy. THE COMEDY!!! I did not expect the FEELS. Jesus H. Christ this one blew me away. All the characters were likable, the plots were sometimes questionable but it worked for this anime. The OST’s were god tier. The openings and endings deserve awards. Unpopular opinion but I think Gintama’s opening and endings are better than Naruto. Please if you haven’t watched this one just give it a chance. It took a couple episodes to hook me in but when it did it, it hooked me good. Also if you want an anime with strong female characters this is the one. No waiting for men to save the heroine, the women go in and f*ck shit up (I’m looking at you Courtesan of a Nation Arc.) Seriously though, everyone needs to watch this.

6. Devil man Crybaby 4/5
My coworker put me on to this one. Word of advice: do not watch this one at work 👀 that first episode almost gave me a heart attack. This one surprised me. And that ending wow 🤯. This anime is not for the faint of heart. Please don’t watch this if you’re underaged. I took a while to like the animation style but it eventually grew on me. Overall it’s a good one that I highly recommend.

7. Those Snow White Notes
Tik Tok recommended this anime to me. You know that one scene with the guy and his mom in the apartment, yeah that one. I remembered getting goosebumps and I knew I had to watch and for once tik tok lead me in the right direction. This one isn’t about romance or school is about the shamisen ( a traditional Japanese instrument) and let me tell you how good this was. The music blew me away. The emotions from the MC and his love/hate relationship with the shamisen really captivated me. And that first opening was amazing. Definitely recommend this one.

8. To Your Eternity 5/5
I think I need to send my therapy bill to the creator of this show. Seriously though this one brought pain but goddamn that opening was good. And Fushi was just too dang cute you wanted to see his progress. This one had so many characters that you just can’t help but fall in love with each one of them and damn the author for ripping out my heart every time.
Tumblr media
9. Heaven’s Official Blessing 5/5
I’m sorry but Xie Lian and Hua Cheng invented true love. There’s no debating. They’re the epitome of power couple. This series took me by surprise and I loved every millisecond of it. And please if you haven’t read the novel PLEASE PLEASE read it!!! I promise it’s worth it. Now excuse me while I cry because I’m sad and lonely 😩
Tumblr media
10. Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation 4/5
This was one was great. Action, comedy, tragedy with a added touch of barely there romance. Since this was only the second Chinese animation that I watched the names were a bit confusing but by the third season I kinda got it?

Oooh, what are your favorite animes then??
*puts on my annoying weeb hat and cape on*
well since you asked..
i have watched many anime in my life because i didn't have any friends growing up and was on the internet for a long while b4 was normal so my list is a very very random fucking assortment of an me. my top ten is a mess but these r reccs where im like. if u think anime is lame.. Watch These
also this list won't include anime like hq, bnha, kny, aot, jjk, any of the big three or rlly anything that came out more recently i dont think since you probably already have seen those animes b4
ALSOO i didn't think it fit here but another anime i love is silver spoon - its a farming anime with a rag-tag group of characters and it's near and dear to me. my favorite slice of life ever.
tldr ;; if you don't wanna go through the list, number 3, 8, 9, and 10 are the must watches imo.
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER,
ARI'S ANIME RECCOMENDATIONS!
PLEASE PROCEED W CAUTION AND LOOK UP WARNINGS - a lot of these are super dark!!
1. baccano - a fast-paced non-linear mafia anime that follows the storylines of several interesting and charismatic characters in the prohibition era in the states. has elements of surrealism and gets pretty violent albeit it's a little slapstick. i think this anime is fucking fantastic. think the story-telling is brilliant and interesting.
2. zankyou no terror - a psychological anime about two japanese teenagers responsible for a giant terror attack using a robot named sphinx. despite the title and the intial episodes - zankyou no terror is not an anime about terrorism but about politics and reflections. its really great but i can't tell you much about it without spoiling it.
3. inuyashiki - this anime is a fucking mess and it is incredibly dark. the same death note air but with a lot more sarcasm and black humor slash comedy. the gist is that two men encounter robotic powers. while the older of the two mcs finds that being responsible and heroic is important despite his pathetic life - the younger more apathetic one immediately starts fucking killing people. 😭. home to the iconic "do you watch one piece scene."
4. psycho pass - one of the first animes i ever watched and im genuinely really elated that ppl are watching it. about a society where everyone's thoughts and feelings are carefully monitored and how that reflects onto their careers and lives in general. very dark and has a lot of content warnings, but it's great.
5. durarara - this is a very biased opinion but i think this is one of the best animes ive ever watched. i couldn't pin why. i think the cast of characters is absolutely stunning but i also enjoyed it a lot conceptually. it's a gang anime with supernatural elements but it's honestly hard to explain other than that. still so fucking good though.
6. say 'i love you' - this is a random one i know. but it's a romance anime between a subdued highschool girl and a popular highschool guy. seems very generic but the characters and world-building are real and raw and every single person has a story. from a writers perspective it's brilliant and yamato was a childhood crush for me. there's a lot of discussion with one character about eating disorders as an fyi but god. god. we deserved another season but the manga is good too.
6a. honorable mention on great romance anime is maid-sama. don't let the cover fool you - our main lead is a badass but she works at a maid-cafe. one of her classmates happens to catch her. very sincere romance that i highly reccomnd.
7. cowboy bebop - this anime is literally a classic, so i don't feel like i have to tell you to watch it. probably one of the greatest animes that will ever exist. space cowboys kickin' ass and a goddamn fucking banger if i've ever seen it. of everything here - a must watch.
7a. honorable mention - gintama. one of the funniest animes ive ever seen but it's hella long. hijikata is goddamn funny though.
8. samurai champloo - this is . ONE if not THEE best fucking animes you'll ever fucking watch. this anime is witty, charming, historical - with an iconic cast of characters and some of the most funny and wholesome interactions you'll ever witness. mugen is cynical and badass and his dialogue and swords skill will keep you engaged no matter what. essentially two samurai and a waitress end up being fugitives in edo-period japan and it's just so fucking fantastic. please watch it.
8a. honorable mention - afro samurai. similar samurai concept with the coolest mc you've ever met. more shounen-y if that's your thing.
9. mushi-shi - this anime changed my life. no joke. this anime is probably my number one influence on me as a person and as a writer. it is slow-paced and episodic and it follows the story of a man named ginko. mushi are the main element in the world, they are small creatures that can't be seen to everyone. this is one of the best animes ever imo. it's not for everyone but if you like something a little more subdued and sentimental - please check it out.
10. steins gate - this anime is probably one of the only animes that people universally agree on being a must watch. follows the story of a mad scientist and talks about subjects of time travel and a secret society. the execution of the tropes in the show are done flawlessly. objectively one of the best on the list. very.. melancholy? psychological? but so fucking good. a good watch if you liked death note or psycho pass.
THIS WAS SOOO hard to write. im sure no one cares but this list is very near and dear to my heart with anime i think is fucking incredible. if you give even one of these a watch - please talk to me about it!!! i have so many more even w/o the honorable mentions but yes... Yes.
