As a nod to season 5, I can imagine in Wukongverse Old Li is the more favorable in Nezhaverse's opinion(I hc him as someone who was like Yunxiang in youth and paid the price hence his personality.)
If he was still alive I can imagine old Li calling out AU Li Jing despite the power difference.
I love the idea of all the Wukongverse wondering who's the worst/best of Nezha's fathers and begin comparing. Nezha (2019) Li Jing barely makes the "OK" ranking for trying to take Nezha's place when the Heavens did the ban hammer on him and Ao Bing - still not a great father. HiB Zhu Bajie is likely pretending to be the Pagoda King for clout so he's disqualified (never refers to himself as Li Jing or as Nezha's dad).
Soon the many Li Jings are compared and graded against one another - only for Ace (NewGods!SWK) to comment;
Ace: "What about you, tudi? Your dad seems cool." Li Yunxiang: "My dad isn't Li Jing though..." LMK!Nezha: "Rule is best or worst "Nezha's Dad". You're our reincarnation. Your dad counts." Whole Room: (*agreeable mummuring*) Peach: "Ok, it is official. Li Yunxiang has the best Nezha's Dad." Li Yunxiang: "Thanks...?"
Tumblr media
Old Li I feel can be a bit of hardass on his sons, mainly out of fear/worry. They are living in a drought and economic depression, and he doesn't want either of them going down dark paths. Since the NewGods films take place roughly in the 1920s/Republic-era; I wouldn't be surprised if Old Li experienced the horrors of the first world war and was very much like Yunxiang at his age. And unlike the other "Nezha's Dads"; Old Li isn't a lord or a god, he's a mortal mechanic trying his best to raise his sons + his adoptive daughter.
I bet if Old Li was in a room with all the Li Jings (wukongverse shennangians) and saw how they treat their kids, he'd scold them without a second thought.
Old Li: "A god you call yourself, and yet you cannot even soothe your child's worries when he's made a mistake. I worry for you when he becomes a teenager."
May or not proceed to brag about his kids and how proud he is of them despite all the "god nonsense" his youngest has gotten himself tied up in.
The Li Jings are aghast and furious at the gal of this mortal, and ask him who is he to pass judgement on the Pagoda King?
Ace: "He's the father of my tudi, Li Yunxiang. The reincarnated Nezha."
The Li Jings all suddenly pause and stare. This frail, elderly mortal managed to fully raise his Nezha?! To adulthood!? How is he alive!?! How has he managed to control a demon child that brought gods to his knees and nearly kill them times over?!
Old Li, copying a slang he heard from the modern universes: "Skill issue."
Some of the younger Nezhas actually even prefer Old Li to their fathers. He's a bit tough sure, but he's a good man who's willing to make compromises with his kids.

—Now playing: Ti vorrei sollevare by Elisa, Giuliano Sangiorgi ✫
Sunday and, just as the name implies, it was a sunny day and the soft breeze of the town never failed to be present. However, as autumn approached, the mornings felt colder, prompting people to grab sweaters and blankets. The chill slowly dissipated as the day progressed, and by noon, temperatures returned to the usual comfortable levels of the summer. Today, unsurprisingly, temperatures rose even further in the afternoon, encouraging everyone to spend more time outdoors to avoid using air conditioners and fans.
Daphne and Cleo's neighbourhood is always silent, having barely any household containing little children who could be playing in their gardens. The only 'disturbance' came from barking dogs, chainsaws, the hammering from workshops or the buzzing sound of tractors from the neighbouring farms.
The neighbours obviously didn't expect they would hear the hysterical laughs of teenagers, the exhausted screams of another teenager and the overall chaos coming from Cleo's home.
She'd laid out her warnings the previous day: "I have a lot of cats"—two cats in reality but she didn't want to specify just to scare them—"My brother hates noise and messy environments" she stated, firmly advising them to leave their childishness at home when coming. Still, everyone knows that giving a piece of advice is useful only if the receiver takes it into consideration.
The five friends were all downstairs in her living room and they were planning on studying outside in her backyard because of the heat so the only thing left to do was take their things outside but suddenly a supposedly five-minute thing started taking way longer than she'd ever wish.
"Damn. The fridge is full as fuck! How many people are living here?" James asked, checking out the contents of the piece of furniture. He was unaware of the mini heart attack his words gave his friend. "Don't!— Don't touch the fridge. If you need anything, tell me. We went grocery shopping just yesterday and my brother eats a lot," she dragged the vowel to enhance the word and seriousness, "So no. If y'all feel hungry, just tell me." The warning was enough for the boys to lift their hands in surrender and back away from the fridge Cleo had just violently closed and was guarding with her whole body.
The girl sighed in relief, glad to have solved the issue only for her eyes to bulge out of their sockets again when she saw Nick approach her fireplace where, upon the sill, were family pictures, most especially, her childhood pictures. Why the fuck didn't she think about removing them earlier?
"Back off, Dominic!" she exclaimed, rushing up to him. The use of his full name had him on alert since it was rare but soon he understood her body language and what she was trying to hide as a mischievous smirk rose on his face. "Oh my God. You don't want me to see baby Cleo's photos?" he excitedly teased, seeing the shift in her as he understood her intentions.
"Nick, I swear to God if you dare— Nick!" she screamed when he made his first attempt to outsmart and pass her. "Nick, please," she begged, her tone wavered between a laugh and a cry because he was laughing at her distress. "They're just pictures and you're cute as fuck now so one can't imagine how cuter you were when you were a baby," he explained in a slightly more serious tone as he tried to understand the real reason behind her worry.
"I don't care and it's not true—"
"It's not true?"
In the meantime, James continued his tour of the floor without attempting to touch any food or object, Asher was tangled in the paws of Cinnamon and Lily while Daphne simply laughed at the scene as she recorded everything.
"I never knew I'd be the heartthrob of cats," he commented, surprised at their grip on his clothes whenever he wanted to detach them from himself. Daphne didn't do anything about it, having no type of experience with cats and most especially, enjoying the new memory that would occupy space in her phone.
"Pose." She finally spoke after laughing for way too much according to Asher. "What do you mean pose?"
"Pose for a picture," she simply repeated like it was obvious. She had to insist a bit more before he complied and posed, forcing a smile through the pain as she compelled herself to take good pictures before bursting into laughs again. This would be good content for her to upload to her Instagram stories and add to her new highlight dedicated to her friends—it already contained a few things thanks to Cleo's tags. And, exactly, she left to do so, leaving Asher in his despair while she lay on the couch to edit the picture with a few doodles and tagging everyone present.
Nick and Cleo had finished their little fight of resistance and the boy was now holding one of the pictures, congratulating Cleo for being a very cute baby while the girl simply stood next to him, checking if the picture was too bad for her, rolling her eyes at the compliments as she held her smiles back and eagerly begging him to stop satisfying his curiosity.
James had finished the tour of the floor and was now bored and that was when he remembered why they were there in the first place. "Hey, guys. Let's hurry and take what we need to study," his words froze the place up. Daphne moved her eyes onto him, Asher stopped struggling with the cats and Nick and Cleo stopped their activity, simultaneously turning around to look at the speaker. "James? Everything all right?" Asher broke the ice.
"Yeah like... you fine?" Daphne joined. Nick and Cleo nodded when the respondent turned in their direction since he was so confused and looking for clarification.
"What?" he asked, receiving no reply for a few seconds before Daphne spoke again, "We're just surprised you of all people suggested that."
"Yep, surprised,"
"Super surprised," Cleo and Nick added right after her. James simply rolled his eyes, realising he was getting worried over nothing.
"What the fuck guys? I thought it was something serious—"
"Oh, he was going to be serious—"
"Asher!" And everyone laughed. James still rolled his eyes and went on with his life while the rest stopped playing around and got up to do what they initially had to do.
"Cleo? Imma need you to come get your fur balls off me. I'm losing my shit. Thank goodness I ain't allergic to their fur. I would've been dead by now."
It was a five-minute thing, taking every book and device they needed. It was almost a twenty-minute thing, taking Cinnamon and Lily off Asher who fought against wailing like a baby in frustration. And that's how they found themselves sitting around the white table they moved to the garden under the protection of the wide white umbrella standing through its centre.
Cleo's home never hosted these many people. Ever since she was a child, the only companion she had with her was her brother, her father and, briefly, her mother. She'd known Nick, James and Asher since middle school but never had she invited them over because the thought never crossed her mind—and also they already spent a lot of time together considering their moments in class and at practice after school. Regardless if she wanted to hang out with them, they would opt for a destination in town, not anyone's home.
Today, when her neighbours peered out their windows into Cleo's garden, they were greeted with an unfamiliar sight: five people sitting around a white table. Usually, when they spotted Cleo in the garden, she would either be playing with her brother, helping him out with something, swinging on the swing hanging from the big tree, or playing with her cats—certainly not whatever she was doing now.
Barely a month had passed since Daphne had moved here permanently so the images of her reading in her garden weren't long-lost memories to the neighbours anymore but rather part of their routine since Daphne had always been reading there since she came back.
When they would look out of their window and into her garden, they'd find her there, sitting and reading peacefully. The only thing changing day by day was her clothing which would get thicker as the temperatures went down and autumn approached.
They didn't know that the five people in Cleo's garden had decided to meet for school reasons although one could deduct it by noticing the books filling the table and the focus painting the expressions of the teenagers.
One could also deduct that James gave no fucks about school and has a hard time staying focused for too long hence the phone in his hands while the rest were working. He had a leg bent over the other with arms crossed and a subtle frown on his face peeking through his blonde hair strands.
They hadn't even studied for an hour and little James was already out of it. He'd sighed many times by now, gaining Asher's side glances the whole time. James couldn't notice that. The only thing he knew was that his friends were boring, this was boring, life was boring and he couldn't bear it any longer. He even looked in Nick's direction, his usual partner in crime, only to find him focused on working, leaving him shocked.
"Isn't it time to like... have a little break?" he suggested only to receive silence as an answer from all of them. They didn't notice him except for Asher who didn't hold back from rolling his eyes. He had to repeat his question a second time before someone other than Asher answered him or, better, looked in his direction at all.
"It's barely been an hour. What are you talking about?" Cleo questioned with an eyebrow lifted. "It's funnier if you remember that he was the one that encouraged us to come out and study," Asher butted in, gaining an eye roll from James.
"Sorry, I can't stay focused for too long. I'm not as braindead as you are," he spoke directly to Asher who took his glasses off, slightly annoyed at the remark.
"You call having a long attention span being braindead? It literally proves that you're the one who's braindead because you don't know what the word itself means and trust me that anyone could appear 'braindead' to you because you can only stay focused for two minutes,"
"Okay, okay. Let's end it there. You wanna take a break? Let's take a break but then you'll have to seriously work later," Daphne interrupted, getting rid of the ponytail that was already stressing her sensitive skull.
James wasn't bothered in the slightest by Asher's words since he'd got what he'd been wishing for so he simply stood up and headed to the kitchen with Cleo running behind him to make sure he wouldn't empty the fridge.
"Be a bit nicer, yes?" Daphne was now speaking to Asher who simply rolled his eyes and got up, leaving her without any reply. She was a bit baffled just as Nick by her right with whom she exchanged looks of confusion before they too got up and went inside.
—Now playing: Beautiful by Lana Del Rey ✫
Once they got to the kitchen, they found James and Cleo arguing about what they could have to eat and, being already a bit annoyed, Daphne made them settle down and excused all of them out of the kitchen so she could handle it herself. Cleo didn't object and grabbed the chance to play outside with only James and Nick because Asher didn't look down for any type of physical activity—maybe only if it meant he could go back home.
He didn't budge from his position, leaning on the counter with legs and arms crossed and staring into nothing. Daphne, on the other end, was busy exploring Cleo's kitchen to understand where to find what.
She wanted to make some sandwiches and was having a hard time finding the pack of sliced bread they'd bought the previous day. She'd already gathered the filling onto the counter ignoring Asher's presence who had stopped staring into nothing and was now looking at Daphne most especially because she had succeeded in finding the sliced bread but it was in the cupboard, a bit too high away—not the cupboard itself because the pack was placed on the top layer.
"They most likely placed it here on purpose 'cause there's no way," she mumbled to herself and she kept jumping, pinching the packet closer and closer to the edge. She'd already jumped a few too many times to her liking especially because she hoped Asher would help her out but it seemed like he was in the mood to hold grudges against her as if she'd wronged him in any way.
She initially felt good because the packet was getting closer and closer and she would manage to get it without his help but her moment of glory was shut down when she accidentally pushed in instead of pinching it closer. When she noticed, she stopped jumping, looked up at the packet and stared in disbelief.
That was when she heard Asher chuckle behind her. Never had she snapped her head around this fast to glare at someone and never had he hid his smile so quickly.
"Were you just laughing?" she questioned, eyebrow slightly lifted and eyes glaring holes in his figure. "Why would you think that?" he questioned back, mirroring her facial expressions.
Daphne wasn't hallucinating, she heard him clearly laughing in her moment of distress and he was now denying it, denying to had been behaving like a bitch because she told him to tune it down.
Yes. She wasn't hallucinating because he indeed was chuckling since he purposely let her struggle for a bit just because he felt like it. He wasn't that immature. Yes, she scolded him a bit and yes, he was a bit harsh but no, he wasn't going to act like a bitch about it. He would've let her struggle even on the best of his days. The only person who could get him back to being annoyed was James and, at the moment, he wasn't there.
Right now, he was staring dead into Daphne's eyes and she did the same with him. The tension between them soon faded away when they both got the cue that it was all in good fun but Nick didn't know this when he walked in to have a glass of water.
The room was so silent and his friends were staring at each other, both with arms and legs crossed and a crooked eyebrow. "Nice staring contest," he thought to himself and he served himself with the glass of water.
Daphne and Asher, on the other end, struggled to hold back their laughs as they could hear Nick's loud gulping sounds. Asher could see it on her face just as she could see it on his that a smile tried to creep up but they would race against the clock to suppress it. They could see it in each other's eyes, the panting, the sweat and the fatigue the race caused them but soon everything resulted to being in vain when Nick let out the loudest burp right after emptying the glass.
Asher immediately burst into laughter while Daphne's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets and rolled onto the floor at the loud sound. Yeah, it was very loud.
"Jesus Christ, Nick. It's just water," she said, laughing at the situation but also Asher's loud laugh and crumbling figure in front of her.
Nick simply smiled as he rinsed the glass and kept it back to where he found it. "Y'all never heard anyone burp before?" he simply asked, seeing how they were losing their shit.
"Nick? That was exceptionally loud especially since you drank ordinary water. Imagine if you had drunk sparkling water," Daphne explained—to be honest, she struggled to explain that because every word that left her mouth would simply increase Asher's laughter's pitch and volume. Nick didn't reply, smiling at how hilarious Asher sounded before going back outside.
"What the fuck?" Daphne asked in disbelief before repeating her question when she saw that Asher had fully turned red and seemed really in need of help.
"Hey, hey! Young man!" she called. His laughter's pitch and volume had vanished as he was silently laughing now, tightly holding onto his stomach—nothing is deadlier than that shit. "This bitch is on the verge of dying, jeez," she laughed, staring at him in hopes he would stop.
He did, a few seconds later but he did and when he came down, he took in a huge amount of air before letting it all out to ease the feeling of his contracted abdomen.
"A burp... almost killed you," Daphne joked, watching him get back up, "Wouldn't have minded anyway because it would have been your karma," she added.
"My karma? For what?"
"For fucking ignoring me and letting me make a fool of myself as I tried to take that fucking pack of sliced bread just because I scolded you a bit before!" she explained, gasping as she saw him start laughing once more.
"Ok. Yes, it's like you're really trying to kill me with laughter and no, I wasn't ignoring you for that. I would ignore you on any day. Your scolding has nothing to do with it. I was having my own type of fun," and Daphne gasped, reaching over to smack his arm as he laughed and finally complied to help her take the packet and make the sandwiches. As background music were the screams and laughs coming from Cleo's garden.
Soon, their conversation moved on to school subjects regarding their project and most especially the campaign. Asher confessed to being interested in running in the campaign but he would only entertain the idea the following year as a senior as he didn't feel ready yet.
Daphne grabbed the chance to ask him what were the requirements for such and even asked if he was interested in becoming the class president.
Their conversation was cut short by the loud scream coming from the garden. It was so loud Asher worried James or Nick had hurt Cleo somehow. Daphne, however, did not share his concern at first, but she still hurried behind him when he dashed out. They both froze when they saw Cleo and Nick wrestling over a ball, with James confused in a corner not knowing if to join in or separate them.
"Erm?" Daphne asked, side-eyeing Asher who simply rolled his eyes again and went back inside.
"Gosh, I thought it was something serious," he said, making it back behind the counter.
"It was obviously nothing serious. Anyone could tell,"
"Yeah, but I'm used to having to medicate Cleo's wounds because of how roughly they play."
"Are they always like that?" Daphne asked, "Like... in compromising positions like that?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... if an outsider had to take a look at them, they could suspect they are more than just friends, you know," she voiced out, placing the sandwich on the tray. "Were they ever a thing? Because as far as I know, Cleo never told me anything special about Nick."
Her question wasn't a surprise to him. He knew it would've eventually popped up in Daphne's brain and now he just happened to be the person to whom she addressed the question. "Not that I know of," he simply replied, placing his sandwich on the tray.
"Yes, they do look like more than friends and if I'm being honest with you, I always thought that Nick has a crush on her. James too,"
"Really?" Daphne gasped with bulging eyes and he nodded, "But I feel like if Nick does have a crush on her, his has existed for longer. We have known each other since middle school and Nick has always been like this with her. James started only like two years ago if I'm not mistaken,"
"Which was around when Cleo started getting popular and shit, right?"
"Yeah, I guess so,"
"But also, doesn't Nick also behave like this with everyone? I mean, he's not the shy type to worry too much about physical contact,"
"Yeah, he behaves like this with everyone and that's why one can't fully say that he crushes on Cleo because he isn't any different with others but he's just a bit different when it's just us, you know. There is a Nick with Cleo in public and a different Nick with Cleo in private such as hang outs like this. I do think that if James does have a crush on her, she knows and she also doesn't entertain the idea of starting anything serious with him because two years ago I wasn't the only person thinking he liked her. The whole class did,"
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, but I think Cleo just sees him as a friend because she never really commented on the issue and it slowly faded, especially with the popularity she gained. It became easy to simply label him as a fanboy and nothing more,"
Daphne nodded and didn't speak further, looking out where her friends were. A part of her felt like her suspicions were true. Nick probably likes Cleo, James included, and it isn't surprising because Cleo is so charming. Like she'd already stated, Cleo could see the good in people, no matter the bad one could commit and she also seemed to never get sad or angry—unless you bring Valerie into the picture. Cleo is always smiling and happy. She seemed to have a social battery that never runs out and her smile was like a tattoo on her face.
Daphne hadn't seen her play volleyball yet, hadn't seen how competitive and just how skilled she was at the sport. However, Daphne knew Cleo's popularity likely stemmed from her talent in volleyball, indicating that she was genuinely good at it.
There was just something fascinating about people being good at what they like.
All these were hypotheses that she would've changed into theories if she knew that Jungkook too fanboys over her.
"So right now, we're looking at a potential childhood crush from Nick?" she said looking at the scene in front of her.
Right in that moment, from the counter she could see Cleo and Nick going at it again, dragging to get the ball. They caught the attention of both she and Asher because Nick seemed to be giving Cleo a back hug from where he would occasionally lift her off the ground. She, on the other hand, would bend forward causing him to do the same. Another honestly compromising position.
"James is third-wheeling there," she comments before they get back to making the sandwiches.
"Worse it would be if he indeed likes her too," Asher added, gaining a hiss from Daphne as they both laughed.

—Now playing: Chiquitita by ABBA ✫
The boys left around dinner time, giving the girls enough time to finish tidying up. Daphne stayed back just for that reason.
There wasn't much left for them to take care of since they didn't mess up the place too much and the boys also helped a little before leaving to catch their bus home. Upstairs, Cole was still sleeping while noise still came from Cleo's dad's workshop. Been like that throughout the afternoon.
"Let's hurry cause I have to cook dinner,"
"You?" and Cleo nodded before turning around to sweep the kitchen. "Cole has been studying the whole morning and even after lunch. I just went to check and saw that he fell asleep so he's surely tired as fuck. My dad has been working nonstop on the project he wants to sell in his shop so yeah, I'm taking over the cooking." Daphne unconsciously nodded to the information as she adjusted the little pillows on the couch and armchair, picking up a few things from the floor and keeping others back where they belonged. As she did so, they stopped talking and completely focused on finishing their duty.
Since the boys had already helped with tidying up the living room a bit, Daphne was soon done with the work and was just roaming around, exploring the place now that she had the chance. In the meantime, Cleo was still sweeping the kitchen, trashing the packs of finished snacks that littered the counters. That was when a gasp from the living room diverted her attention away.
"Oh my god! You have vinyl records from ABBA?" Daphne exclaimed, taking the object in her hands and admiring it like it was a brick of gold. Cleo rushed to put the broom aside and went over to her overly excited friend.
"You listen to ABBA?" Daphne proceeded, taking the disc out of the packet and going straight to the vinyl player sitting next to the pile of records. Cleo smiled but the smile didn't reach her eyes. It wasn't the usual smile that painted her face, the infamous tattoo. No, Cleo struggled to smile and Daphne didn't notice.
She wanted to stop her friend, take the record from her hand, keep it back and shut everything up but that would require her to explain herself and if she failed to do so, she'd just leave a bitter taste in her friend's mouth or, worse, make her worry that there's something more. There is something more, but that more can stay in the isolated room Cleo had locked it in. She'd also trashed the key, wishing to never see that door open again. But it didn't stop the pain nor the insisting struggles as the door tried to open itself against its hinges and the lock.
Daphne maybe would've noticed this but maybe right now she was too excited to listen to ABBA or to play music from a vinyl player once again. The last time she'd done so was at Margot's place in the city but she didn't ponder much on that memory, especially now that Margot have been outcasted from her life just as she'd done to her. Daphne loved vintage things so she really had a thing for vinyl records—preferred them to the modern album packaging.
She didn't pay any attention to the song she was putting on since she was a great ABBA fan and eats up anything the group has released.
"You know how to use it?" Cleo finally spoke, her voice almost nonexistent. Again Daphne didn't notice this. Later, Cleo would be thankful for her inattention because she would've regretted dearly bringing worry upon her friend.
Daphne eagerly nodded as she backed away from the player, waiting for the music to start and it soon did as the soft sounds of a guitar started feeling the room.
"Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong?" she started singing along, gathering her hands on her chest as if the song had been produced in heaven.
"You're enchained by your own sorrow, In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow." Cleo smiled more now. Chuckled a bit at how fondly Daphne sang along.
Her friend behaved as if she was in a music video, arms spreading out and going back to her chest at each word she sang. "How I hate to see you like this. There is no way you can deny it, I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet."
Cleo's smile almost faded away, understanding the words, the lyrics. What a choice of song, she thought to herself but, again, Daphne didn't know this so she couldn't show any emotion or any suspicious reaction that could cause her friend to ask questions, to worry. "Chiquitita, tell me the truth. I'm a shoulder you can cry on, your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on." Cleo simply smiled. Laughed seeing how her friend struggled to get on the couch and be even more dramatic. Once she got on it, she spread her arms out again, passionately singing and pointing at Cleo as she sang the next words.
"You were always sure of yourself. Now I see you've broken a feather. I hope we can patch it up together." She didn't know that the words were resonating with Cleo, hitting a very sensitive nerve she's been keeping hidden under her sleeve for a long time now and there was no way she could've known because, unlike Taehyung, Daphne isn't a keen observer but just a good listener. Cleo was the same: different from Taehyung, yes, but she was just good at speaking, with her listening skills not as refined as her friend's. Yes, she is so good at talking but, in that moment, she preferred silence because she was scared of having others worry for her. After all, there is nothing scarier than the sudden extinguishing of the sun—and it's not an eclipse.
Cleo was still standing by the vinyl player while Daphne had already travelled around the room and was making her way back to it, back to Cleo and once she reached, she grabbed her friend's hands and dragged her into the centre of the living room to dance.
"Chiquitita, you and I know how the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leavin'." Cleo's body was a bit tense but not tense enough to resist Daphne's force as she dragged her around. "You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end. You would have no time for grievin'" Daphne sang without caring to hit the right notes as they started spinning and jumping around. She was unaware that her free spirit at the moment eased her friend's tightened muscles, slowly bringing her to enjoy the song and hop around with her.
"Chiquitita, you and I cry but the sun is still in the sky and shinin' above you."
Daphne didn't know this—again. Not just the song but the whole musical group held a certain weight in Cleo's mind and occupied a certain space in her heart. Space she'd rather give to anything else in this world. A weight she'd gladly go on a diet to lose but this type of weight was particular. Wasn't the type you could lose either by going on a diet or starving yourself.
"Let me hear you sing once more like you did before. Sing a new song, Chiquitita," they both started singing, fingers intertwined, arms spread out and heads thrown back as they spun around, sometimes breaking into a simple dance move. "Try once more like you did before. Sing a new song, Chiquitita."
After parting ways for the verses, Daphne started first: "So the walls came tumblin' down and your love's a blown out candle. All is gone and it seems too hard to handle." And then it was Cleo's turn to become dramatic with her gestures as she started singing along to her own part: "Chiquitita, tell me the truth. There is no way you can deny it. I see that you're oh so sad, so quiet."
Again, unaware, Daphne's actions were like gauze covering the wounds lacing Cleo's body and soul. The smile spread across her face was just what Cleo needed to feel at ease.
"Chiquitita, you and I know how the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leavin'. You'll be dancin' once again and the pain will end. You will have no time for grievin'" Linking arms and running in a circle, they sang their hearts out.
"Chiquitita, you and I cry but the sun is still in the sky and shinin' above you. Let me hear you sing once more like you did before. Sing a new song, Chiquitita." With hands linked like a couple dancing at a ball and making each other spin around, they started singing the post-chorus: "Try once more like you did before. Sing a new song, Chiquitita. Try once more like you did before. Sing a new song, Chiquitita."
As they danced to the instrumentals, Cleo realized that maybe, just maybe, she'd found a possible solution to the weight occupying her mind, to the spot in her heart and to the wounds that were yet to heal.
Daphne had wondered where her mother was the day she came here and saw Cleo surrounded only by her father and Cole at lunch. She wondered what could have happened to her mother. Was she dead? Did the parents go through a divorce? And if they did, were the kids keeping contact with the mother?
Maybe if Cleo had opened up in that moment, she would've had a little answer to all those questions. She would've finally known something. She would've learned that Cleo's mother used to be a great fan of the group, and she was behind the reason why those vinyl records were there in the first place. She would've known that the last time any song from the group was played, the father was who put it on. She would've known that every memory revolving around the group's songs was in black and white in Cleo's head, bereft of any real colour. Cleo was just waiting, hoping, they would fade away completely, with no colours left behind. Not even the outlines. But she has been waiting for years now and her hope is disappearing faster than the memories she despises.
Maybe, with Daphne back in her life, she would be able to take control and instead of waiting for time to do what it does best, she could change her story, change those memories and replace them with something better, something as nice as this: them spinning around to the ABBA song.
But she knew that Daphne's help would be given unknowingly. Cleo would never ask for help but just grab it if it presents itself in front of her. She didn't know this but it was exactly why her healing process was so slow.
All these were uncertainties because Cleo wasn't sure and never would be unless she opened up to someone, anyone. For example, she could open up to her brother: he's always been there for her, through thick and thin but that was exactly why she didn't want to open up to him. He was already doing a lot for her and the last thing she'd want to do is add another weight on his shoulders.
She could also confide in the man watching the girls from outside through a window. He wasn't done with his project which was lying unfinished in his workshop because he rushed outside once he heard the ABBA song. He's the only person in this house listening to any song from that group because they carry a different meaning to each person in his little family. A meaning that revolved around the mother, the one person who had singlehandedly ruined their family, scarring everyone on her way out.
He's been working on his wounds. 'S been trying to turn them into scars and possibly erase them completely but he'd gladly help his children too if only they would let him in.
He was grateful though to have come this far and was also thankful for Daphne's actions at that moment. She was oblivious to the darkness looming around those songs but she managed to shine through and overshadow it allowing his daughter's beautiful smile to come out from its hiding spot.
He smiled too and a tear ran down his cheek as well, but it was a tear of joy. A joy he'd been looking for ever since that day it left their home with their mother. He'd convinced himself that that joy had run away from his family for good but it was slowly making its way back. Maybe the road was too dark, no streetlights present, no guiding star or moon in the sky but thanks to this, thanks to Daphne, a streetlight had restarted working, brightening the way a bit for as much as it could.
He was very grateful for that.

[Femme!Dorothy anon, this is a long mess and I wish I could articulate myself better because your thiughts are so interesting] yes exactly. Dorothy doesn't want to be associated with anything masculine, and she genuinely is not masculine. She wears the occasional tie and is straightforward and that's it. She is in no way masc in style or behaviour other than being tall with a deep voice. In fact she's very feminine, her style is entirely conventionally on trend femme as a younger woman and as an older woman she is still clearly feminine just not trendily so (her silhouettes are from older decades and her overall style is very unique for the time yet today looks almost proto Boho in certain respects- imagine a modern substitute arts teacher in a getup of hers.). Why it changed is something you nailed, the divorce hit her self esteem hard and I think facing the reality of that plus how she's treated in general drove her from her ideal style, she gets actively laughed at and mocked when she dresses up. So she's retreated to a compromise, a safe style that she feels comfortable in. I can't articulate my thoughts on the change in her whenever she feels nice in a glitzy gown but I know you'll see where I'm trying to go and how important those glimpses are. And to go back to behaviour, this is why I was actually thinking exactly of the scenario you brought up with the strap. She's a feminine woman who has spent most of her life not being seen as either of those things (and then having both tied to a teenaged pregnancy and marriage which is another depressing complication, her femininity and womanhood are by association denigrated as bad choices, moral failings to be redeemed by being a good mother and wife. what does it mean when Stan cheated on her, in this context?). Dorothy wants to be treated as a desirable woman, a lady, and that goes further than wanting to be seen as pretty in a dress. It's also why I think Rose would understand her far easier than Blanche, why I think Blanche would actually trigger her at some point, because Blanche blatantly sees Dorothy as a masculine figure. She puts Dorothy in a protector role, at times almost desexualizes her because of how she's masculinized her. I don't say this as hate, I love Blanche, but Blanche comes from such a specific and different world to the others and its not out of hate that she does it either, it's simply how Dorothy currently fits into her understanding of the world with the tools she's been given. That's really a whole other topic and I don't want to just shove a whole thesis at you that you might not agree with so back to the original point. Yeah, Dorothy wouldn't in a million years want to wear a strap or have a partner assume she wants to lead/top/penetrate. It would be so deeply, deeply humiliating to her in that context and the opposite of healing. You portrayed the exact opposite of this perfectly in your recent fic, you get what her fantasy would be. And I've vomited so many half formed thoughts at you I'm going to stop talking now. The only thing I want to bring up before I shut up is when they're in the Rusty Anchor bathroom because it kills me everytime on so many levels, seeing Blanche wrestle with actually seeing Dorothy as a beautiful feminine woman, how Dorothy clearly understands how Blanche usually sees her, and Dorothy saying she's jealous of Blanche every day of her life because God, that scene is practically this conversation we're having distilled with how the world sees Dorothy and how much pain that causes her. [This message is all over the place and so long. Please feel free to delete it or only quote little parts. It boils down to me thinking you're so right with your headcanons and meta.]
oh anon 🥹🥹🥹 hand in marriage asap because you just get me - oh my god, how could I ever delete or ignore an ask like this !!!!! I absolutely live for your thoughts always (I am in love, seriously, where do I even begin?)
Honestly - and this might be insane so hear me out - would it be too crazy to say that I think those few times when Dorothy does wear elements of a “masculine” outfit, it could possibly be tied back to her own internal struggle with how she presents herself & how she’s perceived? Like, she thinks that maybe the bullying will quit if she gives in and embraces it, if she takes it back and tries to make it something she’s in control of, to try and enjoy something she feels so deeply uncomfortable with (story of her life tbh) because maybe she’ll be able to drown it out then???? are we seeing the vision … just a little thought that came up after reading that first bit, I like angst a normal amount. I feel like there’s definitely a shift away from that “masc energy” as the show goes on but maybe I’m nuts - of course it could have been for many different reasons !!! But I do think it’s mostly a show of growth & shedding those insecurities / stereotypes / etc.
YES !!!!!!!!!! oh my god dorothy fits the 1920s silhouette sooooo soso well & I think that’s what she would say she gravitates toward if asked (on the surface of course. We know by now that the layers & hiding herself is a result of her past and the constant bullying - I do believe that she may also just genuinely find comfort in dressing this way on some level, I don’t think it’s all negative, but it is definitely rooted in insecurity. The fact that she isn’t the bitter type, going on and on about the body she used to have & how she used to look, is kind of shocking to me ? But also a very good example of her gentle nature!!!!! she’s a lot more sensitive and “submissive” than she lets on imo. Very very gentle soul, she is not what she makes people think she is and it’s so devastating to watch her never let that go in canon because we all know she never will.)
Oh my god exactly exactly exactly — like a lady !!!! I’m so glad you brought up Blanche here (and to the blanche enthusiasts, I’m sorry in advance, look away…) because, listen. I have and will always have a problem with the way blanche literally bully’s her constantly & also ropes rose into it a lot ??? like, does dorothy fire back at her just as harshly, yes. Is it (playfully) deserved on both sides sometimes, yes. But holy hell - it seems like every time blanche fires an insult at Dorothy it gets her right in that delicate place because she always puts up her walls so quickly, like she’s genuinely being attacked. And especially having comments like those come from someone like Blanche - the absolute opposite of everything Dorothy has ever been told is wrong with her. Can you even begin to imagine? This has been talked about a few times in the fandom but it’s a subject that makes me especially upset. Blanche is just so unreasonably harsh. I don’t blame Dorothy for some of the things she says to her sometimes I’m sorry 😭🤚🏻. That ep where they were sitting a the table talking about what they’d say at each others eulogy’s , after Blanche said she always felt safe with Dorothy in the house? Yeah, I dont blame her for throwing out that last comment, I would’ve too. Like wow, okay… ( for the record dorothy is not like exempt from also being nasty sometimes, she’s made some insane comments as well 😭)
Blanche most definitely triggers her, many many times we see it!!! It’s so heartbreaking and I could write an essay on the whole subject. And she HAS to be aware of how severe Dorothy’s insecurities are, Blanche is far from oblivious. She’s not stupid, the whole thing is kind of sick. Petition to stop beating Dorothy into the ground please ??????????? Holy hell ???? I absolutely 100% agree with you anon and feel very strongly about the subject. Of the four of them Dorothy gets it the worst idc - it’s sooooooo heartbreaking because she’s the last of them that can handle it, deep down. Yet another topic I could talk about for hours!!!!
I have manyyyyyyyyyyy many things to say on Dorothy’s insecurities playing a massive role in how she views & feels about sex but I’ll save them for my side account, for now know that you are SO correct anon - it absolutely would be humiliating for her (incredible choice of words btw - holy that was so spot on) and would most definitely end in tears. I’ve brought it up five million times now & I promise I’ll shut up until it’s actually published but this is expanded on in the second chapter of that same fic !! Promise to actually post it soon and stop teasing it every other post haha

we don’t see very many sorcerers who don’t come from sorcerer families, but some exceptions are yuji, yuta, and geto—all highlighted characters in the story who weren’t born into jujutsu society.
(slight disclaimer: while you can argue that both yuji’s birth circumstances and yuta’s familial ties with the gojo clan were invisible strings that in the end tied them to the jujutsu world, geto is the only character out of the three who was explicitly mentioned to come from a non-sorcerer family and background, only having his cursed technique, but i digress.)
this shared quality shows; all three characters value community (their fellow sorcerers, their friends, their “family”) but they position themselves outside of their circles, centering their lives around the people they care for. they all have a strong sense of responsibility towards others that often isolates them, sometimes to the point of self-sacrifice.
how this manifests in each of them:
1.) yuji and every single thing he’s done up to now;
2.) yuta and his promise to rika in exchange for her strength;
3.) geto’s teenage ideals and the way he took on a new ideal that still centered around other sorcerers.
guilt, love, spite—all three simultaneously selfless and selfish.
i’m guessing this commonality has a lot to do with how their respective introductions to jujutsu felt like a second chance in life; enrolling into jujutsu high gave them a purpose.
for yuji, it gave him something to work towards after the death of his grandfather. for yuta, it gave him newfound hope in life. and for geto, we know of his sense of purpose as a student—“the strong protect the weak.”
(all three of their introductions having something to do with gojo, too; ironic, considering he’s also felt “alone” throughout his life.)
all four also need therapy; by god, you are allowed to live for yourselves goddammit!! you don’t need a grand purpose or to be a cog to be worthy to exist!! you’re allowed to just be!!
although that might be too late for geto.)
yuji and yuta are the protagonists in their own respective stories and we got to follow their journeys from before they came into contact with jujutsu, but geto was introduced to us as a student in tokyo jujutsu high. we don’t know what he was like before his enrollment.
i imagine having growing up in a non-sorcerer family and in a non-jujutsu environment had to have taken a toll on a young geto; at one point, he probably realized there was no use pointing out the “monsters” he saw to anyone because nobody else could see them. perhaps his sense of purpose started from there, this burden of being the only one to see what others can’t.
this childhood burden regarding non-sorcerers, along with his downward spiral in relation to non-sorcerers later on, probably accumulated into a lot of frustration and resentment, anger and helplessness, which sent him to defect from jujutsu high with a new path, no matter how unachievable the destination.
to enroll in a school with people who were just like him must’ve felt like a breath of relief. but he’s a stranger to this society, an outsider—unlike his friends. i imagine he tried his hardest to fit in and belong as a student, going so far as to become gojo’s moral compass, a guiding light for someone who was born the pinnacle of jujutsu. maintain, maintain, maintain. before and after his defection, he’s always had to constantly remind himself of what he was working towards—“the strong protect the weak” and “kill all non-sorcerers”—as if he himself wasn’t entirely convinced of what he was saying.
this desire to make sense of his place in the world was ultimately what landed him on the opposite side of the spectrum—the jujutsu society doesn’t care for people like him, but it does take advantage of people like him (like yuji, like yuta).
aside from these three, there are other characters who come from non-sorcerer families/backgrounds, like nanami! he isn’t highlighted as much in that aspect, though. i wish we saw more of his high school experience, more of his thought process, but i can imagine being mixed in japan and being able to see curses was very isolating, so the school could’ve also been a safe haven for him at one point, especially considering how well he and haibara got along.
i think the main difference between him and the three i mentioned—and especially between him and geto—was that his life wasn’t contingent on the well-being of other people, there was no stated greater purpose that we knew of. alone after haibara’s death, his upperclassmen too busy, he left the school after graduating. that’s the difference, i think—his general self-preservation.
it’s probably why he was such a great mentor for yuji, too; the both of them have non-jujutsu backgrounds, but while yuji is so reckless with his life, nanami was more careful with his (he’s had first-hand experience with how detached and machine-like jujutsu society can be, how disposable yet indispensable sorcerers are in its jaws). yes, their general circumstances were different, but i’m sure nanami knew how yuji was feeling, being young and clueless, lost.
(though it does make me wonder about his family and how they treated him! i wish we knew more of his background!)

Did u ever tried to imagine yourself as yui. I think u are similar.
Imagine myself as Yui?
Well NO.
It's a big NO. Because we are really really different. I love Yui from the bottom of my heart and she will be always my favourite character and my comfort character from the all fictional characters ever. But I can't imagine myself as Yui. She is a great personality that I can't be. I'll explain why.
Well, let me start by telling you some of my and Yui's differences that make us very different from each other and I can't be Yui.
1_ Yui is really very strong. Yui is so strong that she was able to survive in very difficult situations with faith and hope in God. Well, I'm not really like that. I can't be as strong as Yui and endure such harsh conditions. Let's not forget that as a teenager I live in a country that is full of problems and a lot of people die every day and it is so hard for me that I sometimes thought of suicide. But Yui was the one who saved me. This is one of the simplest reasons for my love for Yui.
2_ Yui has a very pure heart and can easily forgive someone who has hurt her. But I really can't. I try to be kind and forgive if someone upsets me for a small reason, but sometimes it's really hard for me. Sometimes people hurt me very badly and I can never forget or forgive them. Some people may think that I am very selfish or spiteful. But the truth is that some people can break you by saying the simplest words. I'm sure Yui is more broken than anyone else. But Yui's heart is so pure and kind that she even forgives the people who broke her and loves them, but I can't be as kind as her.
3_ Yui is very simple and attracts people with the smallest kindness. Maybe it's because as a teenage girl she hasn't received much love. But this is opposite for me. I can't trust others easily, which is probably because of my life circumstances.
4_ Yui hates being alone, but I love being alone. I don't like to be social or participate in group activities, which is probably because of my introverted personality, which always makes me nervous. Even though I believe that Yui is an introvert, I feel that unlike me, Yui hates being alone. In my opinion, the reason for Yui's introversion is her poor social connection because she was a church girl and did not have many friends.
5_ Yui loves kids. But me really not. Kids always make me nervous. Even though I work as an English teacher for kids in a kindergarten but sometimes I feel I should leave my job.
All this makes Yui and I very different.
But now that I have said the differences between me and Yui, it is not bad to say one of our similarities. It is true that we are really different, but we have some similarities.
1_ We both love books. Yui likes reading books for her own reasons. I also love books because books have always been my companion when I was alone. I am sure if Yui and I were together, we would spend many hours talking about our favorite books.
2_ Both Yui and I have weak social relations, which makes us have few friends. Of course, I believe Yui has weak social relationships and has few friends due to growing up in the church. I am the same. I have no real friends in the real world because of my introverted and withdrawn personality. Of course, I am very happy that I found many friends in the virtual world, especially in this fandom. Especially a very special friend who was my first friend in this fandom. She will be my best friend forever and no one can take her place for me. Although she left the fandom for some time, I hope she will come back. I love her from the bottom of my heart.
3_We are both introverts. Yui is ISFJ and Me INTJ. The social ties of both of us are weak and we can't find friends in the real world.
4_I have a skinny body like Yui. Maybe even thinner than Yui. And it makes me very angry that some people make fun of Yui because of her body. Let's not forget that there are many people like Yui in the real world. When I see some people call Yui "chichinashi" or "ugly" just because of her body, sometimes I feel that I am also ugly just because I have a thin body. Let me also say that both of us have been mocked by others in the real world because of our body type.
5_ Yui likes doddling in her books. I think it's obvious how much I love drawing arts. 😁
With all these issues that have been said, in one word, we have few similarities, Yui and I are very different in terms of personality. But that doesn't change anything about my love for Yui. Yui is my hero and my favorite character. I love her forever. I love and will love Yui more than any other fictional character.

my beautiful angel. For me, you are more beautiful, kinder, braver and smarter than anyone else. I love you.

i love my messy ex catholics. i love the women whose lives they irrevocably fucked.
lucien o'malley, ex priest, history professor, bassist, hot messy ex catholic gay louis o'brien, ex husband, ex father, financial manager, hot messy ex catholic bisexual tate (nee tatiana) o'brien, grade 2 teacher, ex party bisexual with fuck boy weakness maeve o'malley, bartender, lost girl with no guidance, hot messy catholic bisexual
im not sorry – sacrilege – god must be doing cocaine – slow dancing in a burning room – godspeed – you send me – delicate – falling slowly – high enough – midnight rain – feeling whitney – nothing else i could do – safe – mount everest – pray
louis married too young and he knew it. he thought that if he went to school, took time away from his wife, maybe he would grow out of the fear and chaos of it all but then tatiana was born and he had to accept that he would always think getting married was a mistake. it was only the first mistake however. one affair, one heartbreak, one divorce, fourteen moves, one big pond and twenty years later and louis had learned that if you thought you were making a mistake you had two choices. lean into it and embrace the tragedy that was going to follow or run as far and as fast in the opposite direction as you could.
lucien never thought he was making a mistake. he felt like he was on a very specific path that was handcrafted for him by god and his parents. everything was exactly as it was supposed to be and that freedom came with so many perks that he couldn’t imagine finding a mistake in anything in his life. and then one man approached his church. everything fell apart after that, and lucien found himself in america, in a band, in a thick knitted sweater as he taught history to a bunch of reckless and loud mouthed young adults and in a very precarious relationship with the very god he had trusted so much twenty years earlier.
tate hated everything she got from her father. the trauma, her name, the drive to be good, the need for praise and acceptance and the urge to blow up her entire life. by the times she was nineteen she was scared that she would never give a fuck about living. she gave up the drugs, the sex, the drinking and the misery and focused her efforts into fixing what she blamed her parents for breaking. she cut ties with her hateful and alcoholic mother, who never recovered from the scandal, she changed her name and enrolled in a community college. now she teaches second grade and tries to maintain the stability she had to build for herself.
maeve never understood much about her family, about the world that she had been born into. one moment she was a happy, well adjusted minute, and then next she was a teenager with all this angst and anger in her chest that she had no idea how to let out. things only got worse when she realized that everything she did was going to be held against her perfect sister and her literal priest of a brother. when lucien’s affair came out, her family shifted dramatically and suddenly there was no one around to watch out for her. so she leaned into it, letting her anger and anxiety rule her, fucking up her own life left and right.

Letter #3! Thank you, Tay!
Happy thanksgiving @taylorswift!
Just want to get out there that I am so thankful to live in the same lifetime as you. Your music has been such a crutch I heavily relied on as I navigated life all throughout these years.
From the first time I heard Invisible, Tied Together With A Smile, Mary's Song (Oh My My My), and I'd Lie (sorry Tay, I really thought that was an official release -- my 14 year old self never knew!), I gravitated towards you! Life was hard (or so I thought) as I teenager, and having you write these songs that perfectly encapsulated what my heart feels but my mouth can't exactly speak? It was just a blessing! I still remember crying to Teardrops On My Guitar for months because that bridge just nailed right through my bone!
When I finished high-school (technically 10th grade in US school system) in 2009, I distinctly remembered listening to The Best Day bawling my eyes out cause it just spoke to me a ton. I wrote the bridge on my parents' card during our tribute right before I walked the stage to receive my diploma that day.
There is a video I found From back when I was three You set up a paint set in the kitchen And you're talking to me It's the age of princesses and pirate ships And the seven dwarfs And Daddy's smart And you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world.
It still makes me cry!
In 2012, in the midst of my first real heartbreak, you released All Too Well and The Moment I Knew. I broke myself, and yet again, I leaned on to your music to somehow get me through that darkness.
And maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up...
Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it I'd like to be my old self again But I'm still trying to find it...
God knows I did try to find my old self, but I wasn't able to. I completely revamped myself after that. And coincidentally, you went through the same thing around the same time, and then 1989 was born in 2014!
You also had a monumental effect when it comes to my academic journey as well! I used to ace my English exams, write outstanding papers, and my vocabulary building game was strong! I even made it to our school's paper as Assistant-Editor-in-Chief. I truly think it was you (and Harry Potter) who galvanized my love for words and literature. The world insurmountable? When I head that in The Lakes, I honestly just guffawed the shit out of my self cause that particular word has been one of my favorites to use since around 2008. Oh Tay, I wish you'll end up writing books (in whatever genre you love -- fiction, biographical, a cook book even), cause I just know I'd devour that and make it my whole personality (like I already do with all of your works).
So much happened between 2014 to now. You lost your reputation but came back stronger. You found love. Reputation. Smashed records. Reputation Stadium Tour. Lover. Pandemic. Folklore/Evermore. Smashed records once again. Fearless TV. Red TV. The legendary Eras Tour started. Lost love. Speak Now TV. Found (possible) love again. 1989 TV. All while beating records and winning awards left and right!
I had my fair share of an eventful life as well -- not as eventful as yours though. I never really thought I'd make it to this decade of my life even. I'm just thankful that I decided to stay because had I given up, I wouldn't have been able to witness the new heights you've propelled yourself to! I cannot imagine not getting to hear the lyrical masterpieces in Folklore and Evermore! Nor would I have been able to hear all the freaking vault songs!! That would've been such a tragedy! Reputation could've been my last Taylor Swift album.
There were so many moments in my life wherein I wanted to just bow it out, and the only thing that kept me from cutting the thread of my own life is the exact thought: "You got to stay, Tay has more albums to release." And boy am I glad I pushed through! See. You kept me alive and breathing!
So yes. I am thankful and grateful for you. More than you can ever comprehend. It's not just because of your songs, but just you... yourself. I really don't get why people hate you, Tay. You just radiate "good person" energy. You don't deserve all the crap they throw at you. Yes, you're imperfect, but you definitely belong to the better people category in this Earth. I wish they can just stop. Why can't we all just live in love and peace, right?
Anyway. Once again, Thank You! I hope you'll have a good Thanksgiving! I know things are not so great right now. I do pray to the forces up there to keep you safe and surround you with love.
Love you, Taylor! Forever and always! I absolutely have been having the time of my life fighting dragons with you!

To All The Years I Had Before
A solo para written by Zendvyaa
27. That's where I am now. Not just 'what age' I am. But, where. I know that it might not make much sense, but, it's how I feel. You know what they say; "It's about the journey, not the destination." And that rings true for me. 27 years young today, and I feel like I've accomplished so much more than I could ever imagine.
It all started that the California Shakespeare Theater. If it wasn't for my Momma Bear, Claire taking the opportunity to become House Manager for Cal Shakes - that's what they call it -, then I might've just continued to be a quiet kid. I mean, I went from a shy kindergartener that had to repeat the grade due to just that, to a kid that found the spotlight, and never let it go. Thanks to my Mom being the trouper that she is, taking the job to support herself and my Dad as teachers themselves, I was able to pursue my theatre classes. If it hadn't have been for that, I don't think that I would be where I am. That's just one of the things that I'm so grateful for. I mean, I was even cast as Little Ti Moune in Berkley Playhouse's "Once on This Island" in 2009.
I did so much as a kid. From playing basketball at age six, to dancing in a hip hop dance group called Future Shock Oakland at the age of eight, and my theater classes that I took along the way at Cal Shakes. These things helped shape me into not only the kid that I would be come, but the woman that I would turn into. I can't have one without the other. Basketball, dancing, and acting is apart of me now. Even if no one sees me doing it as much.
'The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds' was not only a monologue I used to audition for the Oakland School of the Arts, but it was the same one I used when I auditioned for 'Shake It Up' on Disney Channel. Not only that, but dancing helped me land a Sears commercial at an early age with THEE Selena Gomez in 2009. It's crazy thinking about this now, because Selena and I are good friends now.
Things came full circle because a vast majority of the kids that were in that Sears commercial went on to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Ross Lynch included. And to top it off, my 2009 audition for Shake It Up was originally for Cece, but they called me back to audition for Rocky Blue. My first major network show. My first character I played on tv. I'm so grateful. I still find the working title of 'Dance, Dance, Chicago' is so hilarious. Thank GOD they chose 'Shake It Up' instead. I digress. I was talking about full circle moments, yes.
The biggest full circle was how I went from dancing in the Sears 'arrive lounge' commercial with Selena Gomez, to having Selena Gomez sing the theme song to the tv show that I later became a lead on within the same year. A show about teenagers wanting nothing more but to dance, and wind up dancing in a popular local Chicago show called 'Shake It Up, Chicago!' Not only that, but I was apart of Kidz Bop 15. Also in 2009. I was in the 'Hot In Cold' music video if you're wondering. I don't wanna talk about how they didn't really use my singing voice. Matter of fact, I don't wanna talk about it at all.
Proceeding SIU, I was overwhelmed as a kid. Being thrown into the spotlight like that, and the show doing well was both a blessing and a curse. I wasn't really ready for it. Not like I am now. I mean, I still get overwhelmed, but I think I'm better at tackling those feelings now than I was before. From being on other shows on Disney Channel like Good Luck Charlie, and A.N.T. Farm, to doing many music videos for SIU as well as my own when I started my short-lived music career. The 'Something To Dance For' and 'TTYLXOX' mashup video is still one of my favorites. Oh, and 'Contagious Love'.
My DFTS and ZSwag era…..that…I loved that era. Did I mention on top of being a dancer, actress, and basketball player, that I loved the arts too. I used to draw all the time. If you scroll down my Instagram feed far enough, you are sure to find my old drawings. Not only that, but I loved to sing, and modeling became yet another passion that I started to have. I really blossomed from this quirky, high energy kid to this woman that knows her angles, can flow effortlessly from one click of the camera, to the next. I mean, have you seen the behind the scenes shot of my Vogue Italia shoot in June 2022? Not to toot my own horn, but…going from fun poses as a kid to what I'm able to do now just blows my mind!!!
Anyway, I love fashion. Even when I was in my 'ZSwag' era. Where being a tomboy who could rock high heels was everything to me. I still love that photo I took of myself with a pair of Jordan's on and heels. I look back at it, and laugh. That part of me never left. One minute, you would see me playing basketball, or skateboarding, the next, I was making the most out of the clothes Law and I were given on the red carpet. Which, by the way, were slim to none. No one wanted to dress me. No one at all. Not even during the SIU era. We really struggled for a while. Something really shifted for Law and I between the end of SIU and K.C., because you could see it. I went from wearing clothes from Kmart, to high end couture before I knew it!!I mean. If younger me knew that I would go from being an 'easy, breezy, beautiful, Covergirl', to now being the face of Lancôme beauty, from being the face/ambassador of Valentino, to the House Ambassador of Louis Vuitton, from rocking Momma Claire's handmade jewelry - I still do!! -, to being the face of Bulgari jewelry? Like???? That's HUGE! And I'm now the face of Smart Water as well??? I think she would LOSE IT!!! Just….
And Law… I'm so grateful for his light. He has been through a lot. He got really sick one time, which I won't talk about, but, he made it through. We always talk about how I found him so fabulous when Law worked as a personal shopper in 2011 while I was on 'Shake It Up!'. Things really just fell into my lap. We had a mutual friend introduce us, and the rest was history. Law has been my Fairy God Motha since I was 14, and doing the met as Cinderella and The Fairy God Mother in 2019 was by far, my favorite moment. I got to share that with him. Like…. I wouldn't be such a sought after name in fashion has it not have been for Law. Let's keep it real. I may do my own makeup for events, but Law keeps me together with the looks. I'm so happy to have him as my Creative Director. I will always support him in his career. Whatever he decides to do. We are thee dynamic duo, after all. As much as I love fashion, and although I did style him for Canada's 'Fashion' magazine, I just don't think I could exist in fashion without him.
After Frenemies, Zapped, and the success of SIU, I started to make my exit as a Disney star. Disney Channel asked me to come back, and Ieveraged that in telling them that I would only come back to Disney if I would be made as executive producer in whatever tv show they wanted to do next. That tv show being 'Super Awesome Katy', being renamed to K.C. Undercover. There was no way I was going to be on tv being called 'Katy'. No. 'K.C.' was just fine.
Sometime after that, I was able to land the role of Michelle "M.J." Watson-Jones. Keeping the secret that I was about to become the new MJ of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was one that was very hard to keep. But unlike the guy who plays the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man (yes, that was intentional. Yes, I'm still brushing off the London that rubbed off on me. Hush.), I was able to keep a secret. That to me was such a massive role to land. Even though I might not be an important character to some people, I'm speaking about it, because although I left Disney Channel to technically still work for Disney through Marvel, Spider-Man: Homecoming helped lead me from K.C. Undercover to Euphoria. Which, is the show that I'm apart of now.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much of a Beyoncé fan I am. Being in the 'All Night' music video in 2016 is the biggest accomplishment for me. I met someone whom I've looked up to for years, I got to star in her music video!! And I know y'all have seen my Yoncé car dance video. I was acting up with Darnell when Renaissance dropped. There are several videos out there with me cutting up and having fun with Darnell, my personal assistant since K.C. Undercover, or by myself. Don't play with me!! The set of the 'All Night' music video was also where I met Amara and Chloe. Even then, I knew those two were destined for greatness. If I could have Beyoncé as my mentor? I'd be fainting every time we spoke. They're so blessed. I love those girls. They're really doing amazing things as a group, and as individuals.
Immediately after HOCO, I stayed in New York to Film The Greatest Showman, aka, TGSM with Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. I had the time of my life. I mean…. the training I had to do to portray an aerodynamic Circus performer was intense. I hate exercising. Which, is something I remember mentioning in my 'Zendaya' app when that was a thing. When it comes to work though, I suck it up, and do the training. I like learning new things, pushing myself, and making each role believable. Anne Wheeler was pretty scary though. Performing trapeze isn't easy, but I just know she's working her butt off in the air to this day with Phillip Carlyle by her side. Aerodynamics is scary, though. I won't lie. And the music in that film? Ugh! Phenomenal. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul really deserved all the awards for what they created.
Voicing Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy was very fun for me. I got to voice my favorite character, who wasn't sexualized. I love Lola, I really do. I love that that made her more about her passion, which is basketball, then to make her this weird sexualized cartoon. Thank God that at least in that film, she wasn't. Focusing on her craft and passion for basketball was far more important and meaningful to me seeing as I was a basketball player when I was younger. Yet another full circle moment.
I won't go through literally every tv show or movie I've been in. My point is, I'm grateful and blessed to have experienced all of them. I however, am vastly disappointed that the two films I was a lead in, Dune 2, and Challengers have been moved up to 2024. I obviously am in full support of the writers and actors strike of course.
Especially as an actress myself. I just wish that I could've gone to the Venice Film festival this year. I miss Venice. That's all. I do think it's rather ridiculous that writers and us actors have to beg Hollywood for fair pay. It's disgusting, but I will talk about that another day. 2024 is going to be here soon, and I hope everything gets resolved by then. I don't really know where Euphoria stands. I could go without the show coming back for a third season, really. I miss the cast and crew, of course, but with the writer and actor strike going on, and the fact that we won't have Angus Cloud there…. I just don't know what's going to happen there. I don't think it'll be the same. And that's okay.
Getting to be apart of Project Backboard a few days ago really hit home for me. I miss playing basketball for fun. I hope that the kids at Oakland Middle got something out of that more than just a 'wow factor' of having 'a celebrity (or two) at their school'. I just want to help nurture the children of our future to become the people they want to be. Following your dreams should be at the forefront of all that they do. I just hope that I was able to help give back in some way. Oakland will always be in my heart. I grew up there, so I will always go back, wanting to help, wanting to be a light in some way.
I still can't believe that I won my first Emmy at 24! I was blessed with the award for 'Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series' for Euphoria back in 2020. That was the craziest night of my life, knowing that I could win or lose, and the people who had the awards were standing outside of my house, waiting for the announcement. And two years later in 2022, I won the same award again for Euphoria season two. I'm so blessed to have just been in the same categories as the amazing women on both nights!
Right now, I'm just chilling. I still have my home in California. I do miss London, and I will miss the home I picked out with my ex, but I sold that months ago. I moved on, and it's time to keep pushing, keep working, keep grinding. There are always projects being worked on behind the scenes. Most of which are modeling jobs as an ambassador for the businesses I mentioned like Lancôme, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, and Smart Water, they keep the lights on. Aha. Some things that I'm working on, I keep to myself. My fans know how private I am. They know what's up. If they need to know something, they will. Some things I can't share due to NDA's and things of that nature, but some things I like to keep to myself, because I love the element of surprise. You'll never know what to expect from me.
As I said, it's about the journey, not the destination. Being so young, and accomplishing so much is just…sometimes, I can't believe it. It's crazy. I still have so many years to go, and I'm not stopping soon. 27 cycles around the Sun. Many more to go. So to all the years I've had before? You ain't seen nothing yet. Happy mother fucking birthday to me!!!
Xoxo, Zendaya/Daya
~ Archive Edition via twitter.
Alright. I know that this isn't your traditional 'para', nor, is it how one is "normally" written. I really tried my best to write a para almost story-like. But, it wound up being like a letter from Z to Z, from the older Zendaya, to the younger Zendaya. Or technically from me, about Zendaya and everything she's accomplished, really. However you wanna look at it. She has done so much since her career started, and I just wanted to showcase that she has come so far.
There's no secret how much I love Zendaya. If you read everything prior to this, you should know that she's my favorite (vegetarian) Virgo. As a Scorpio myself, I love me some Virgos!! I used to rp as Lauren Keyana "Keke" Palmer years ago, another Virgo, and I love Michael Jackson and Beyoncé as well.
A bit about me; I used to be a big Selena Gomez fan. But, I think it's crazy that Zendaya was someone I thought of as 'cute' while I was in high school during Shake It Up!, but I didn't realize until much later in life that she was one of the many kids chosen to be in the nationwide Sears commercial casting that happened. I remember hearing about that, wanting to go so badly, but I didn't have the money or transportation to make it to any auditions sadly. And looking back at the videos now, as I was pulling references left and right, it looks like they wanted actual kids, not teenagers. ;-; Anyway…
I do appreciate you all if you read this far. I really do. I may not talk much to anyone, but that's just because I'm so used to being a lone wolf and an outcast. That doesn't mean that I don't care for anyone of you that I follow. I hold a lot of you in my heart, and think about you often, I just, again, am so used to being alone/lonely/a loner….. bad habits die hard, for real. But I do make it my business to show love when I can. Because even though I may not talk much, all I wanna do, is show love, and give love in return, because it's what I desire to have the most. Love.
I have a few fanstagrams dedicated to Zendaya. I even attempted to make a separate fan account on twitter that was actually a fan account and nothing more, just so I would look 'normal' to the Zendaya fans that follow me, but I simply couldn't do it.
'Zendvyaa' is my home, you know? It's where I show my love that I have for Zendaya as a fan, and as a writer who just wants to write; I choose to rp as Zendaya too. If you don't like it, can't get behind it, or whatever. That's fine. But if you can't understand that I too, am a fan of Zendaya, that just shows it in a different way? Then my account really isn't for you. I don't mean to be rude.
Anyways, I do plan on writing an actual para soon. I have these feelings that I want to write as Zendaya/Daya, that I want to get out soon. I hope that when it does come out, you all show kindness, love, and understanding.
Happy 27th Birthday, Zendaya!!! <3 Thank you, Daya's writer. <3

I've seen so many trans men just adore the barbie movie and i'm on that team too. And ive seen and heard them talk about how masculinity and patriarchy is this...it's a prison. It's a beautiful golden perfect prison. If you are seen as a cis man, particulalrly a white cis man who has no disability and no neurodivergence, you get everything. Everything. It's just fucking handed to you. You never worry about the pepper spray clipped to your keys. You've never even bought pepper spray. You don't even think about it, you don't have to think about it. And idk something about this movie maybe made me realize that I will never feel like a cis man. I will never feel like a man and maybe that's okay. Maybe I prefer that. But my connection to masculinity will always be through the lense of being trans and gay and having grown up as a little girl. I like my identity. I like who I am. But my identity will always and inextricably be tied to being a little gay and a little fruity. And I shouldn't have to just like. Abandon my history as a woman to call myself by he/him pronouns. I think my history of living life as a girl is important to me. also just tagging this back to barbie - the first experience barbie has in the real world is some hardcore sexual harassment. And I just wanna ask anyone who has ever been perceived as a woman - do you remember the first time you were ever threatened like that?
I do. I was twelve. I was twelve years old and a teenage boy screamed "i'll rape you in your dreams" to me when I was walking home from school. I was TWELVE YEARS OLD. That's wrong. that's just WRONG. jesus christ. can you just imagine offering that violence to a child? and like. I actually can't even imagine being a teenage boy offering that violence to someone. I don't want to be that. I don't like that. I feel deeply viscerally uncomfortable with the fact - the *fact* that men and masculinity are tied along with violence. And so this whole thing is making me think. This stupid little movie about dolls, this stupid, derivative, easy movie, about a fucking doll, it's making me think harder than I have in- god, i swear, years.
The brain is a muscle (it's not, it's an organ, but stay with me for the metaphor) and I am working it out so hard that my brain is so sore. I'm thinking about so much. I'm thinking about my own gender and how gender is inextricably linked to power dynamics. I'm also thinking about men and masculinity. I'm also thinking about how I need to read some more bell hooks. I'm also thinking about feminist pedagogy. i'm also thinking about how like. well. the movie did indeed feature many characters of color, the movie was still incredibly white, and therefore the movie is and will always be about white feminism. I'm thinking about how there is nothing I can do to fix it. The world. I can't fix it. It's wrong and awful and I can't fix it. I can't be a woman enough to fix it and I can't be a good enough man to fix it. There is something so wrong and broken about the world. I want to make it better. I can't.
I don't even know what to do or what to say. This movie gave me a boost in self confidence - that's great - but as I said to my bestie - I don't want that. I don't wanna feel smart. I don't enjoy this. Feeling smart means I am aware of how awful the world is. How incredibly prevalent misogyny is. Every second of every day is misogynist. Every movie. Every tv show. Every book. It's hatred. I mean. I like that I know i'm smart now, my Media Analysis Powers are turned the fuck ON (ive always known that my superpowers are just in analyzing media and writing. even when I am at my worst self hatey self, I know that I can think about fiction, and write)
but I want my media analysis powers turned back off. because it's *painful* to think about this. It hurts too much. Its only been a couple days and I am so, so tired.
being aware of the world and myself and my friends and the systems that oppress us. It sucks. i feel stabbed.

Forgotten Promises
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shigaraki Tomura x reader
Warnings: yandere, noncon, kidnapping, mentions of torture, Shigaraki being a creep.
Words: 1.2k
Summary: You were well aware one day he would catch you, a traitor who was ought to be his confidante but chose to abandon him instead.
________
"Long time no see."
You didn't shiver when you heard his voice, your arms and legs tied tightly to some kind of bedstead where you laid helpless like a sacrificial lamb on the altar. You knew this was going to happen one day even with all that crowd of heroes surrounding you to protect you from Shigaraki. Of course, they only bought you some time because those who betrayed the League lived very shortly. As for those who betrayed its psychopatic leader personally the way you did...
Oh, you were long prepared for what was coming for you.
"Hi, Tomura."
You didn't see his figure in the darkness of the room - or whatever this godforsaken place was - but you could clearly feel his presence somewhere close. Shigaraki must have waited for this moment for so long he was savoring every second of it now, watching you lay defenseless in front of him, unable to even move a finger, left completely at his mercy. You could imagine the expression on his face, the things he was going to tell you, pointing out how incredibly stupid it was of you to betray All For One and become one of the Heroes' squad instead.
The things he shouted when he saw you leaving in the middle of the battle were much harsher.
"You're a fucking whore!" Face distorted with hatred, he tried chasing you despite knowing you had already been out of his reach. "I'll break your every bone and skin you alive when I get to you!"
You kept seeing him in your nightmares for months after that, shivering from the thought what would happen if he really caught you. Too bad you weren't just one more member of the gang, some simple criminal Shigaraki would pay no mind - on the contrary, being the only one who could handle his deadly touch thanks to your Quirk, you were given to him by All For One personally. You were supposed to be some kind of confidante for him just like Kurogiri, but with time you realized your master wanted you to be Tomura's personal toy, a girl he would keep for his own comfort. Although neither of you confided in each other, you knew Shigaraki had been slowly developing feelings for you day by day for years as you served him like a companion, following him everywhere, playing in his games, figthing alongside him if you needed to - even if Tomura was twisted and corrupted, he still longed for intimacy despite all his hatred, and you were his only possible option.
It wasn't hard to imagine his reaction when he found out you were leaving the League of Villains, abandoning him.
You wondered how vengeful he was going to get after all these years, having so much time to plan your punishment, imagining how you were going to cry and plead him for forgiveness. Well, it was very likely you would, tortured to death by him, but it didn’t change the fact you did a lot to help the heroes, ruining so many plans of All For One you certainly had been his personal headache for years. Nothing would change it even if Tomura tormented you as much as he wanted.
As you finally saw him coming from behind, his figure blocking the light coming from a lonely bulb hanging from the ceiling, you flinched, grimacing as you saw Shigaraki's red eyes staring at you intently. The son of a bitch was smirking while he looked over you as if you were his trophy.
His light blue hair changed its color and grew longer than you remembered them; the skin around his eyes had twice more wrinkles, making Shigaraki look like a century-old teenager, and his neck was bruised just like when you were still a part of the League. While you thought he didn't look too different, Tomura matured. He was no longer a raw-boned video kid, and the change made you think you had no idea what he had become and how he was going to treat you. You were certain about a single thing - he was surely going to make you suffer.
"Do you like what you see?" You asked, annoyed he was staring at you for so long and saying nothing.
He let out a chuckle, leaning over until he brushed his nose against your cheek, making you shiver, "I do."
As he inhaled deeply, you realized he was sniffing you. What a creep, you thought as you clenched your teeth.
You hated this uncertainty, not knowing what he was planning to do, and soon it was impossible for you to stay silent, "What are you-"
But before you could finish, you felt his warm, slimy tongue licking a long stripe from your chin to your cheek, leaving your skin wet from his saliva. Quickly squeezing your eyes shut, you held your breath, hoping it was all a bad dream. What the fuck was he doing? Sure, he reached puberty a long time ago, but you thought he was going to do something more violent to you - in the end, you hurt his pride more than anyone else did.
"You're awfully quiet now," you could feel his smirk with your skin. "But, I guess, you'll be pleading me to stop a little later. Or rather not to stop?"
Cringing, you opened your eyes only to stare in the face of Shigaraki right above yours as he held your bound wrists, clenching them painfully, "I expected you'd be more creative with my punishment. Last time you promised to skin me alive."
"That would be boring and pretty useless," he rolled his eyes in irritation, his hand touching the fabric of your shirt only to decay it immediately. "Are you so desperate for your punishment? Maybe that's why it was so easy to catch you."
You wanted to tell him he needed years to get close to you, but you kept your mouth shut. Only god knew what this creep had planned for you, and it was stupid to provoke him when Shigaraki was already drooling on your face. You just hoped he did it only to scare the shit out of you.
"I knew you'd get me one day."
"Then why did you run?" His sharp eyes made you froze as he loomed over you, his expression frightening.
You turned your head away, "You know why. You wouldn't follow me anyway, so I did what I had to."
"No, I wouldn't," strangely satisfied with your answer, the Grand Commander finally took a step back, giving you space, and you remembered how to breathe again.
There was this unnerving silence again, and you tried to toss and turn on the bedstead, exhausted from the run earlier and being tied for far too long. What was in his head? Was he really going to rape you as a way of demonstrating his dominance over you? It sounded insane, but you reminded yourself you had no idea how much Tomura had changed. Maybe that was what All For One told him to do to you... although this was rather questionable. It almost looked like Shigaraki was taking something he thought had always belonged to him, a way to make you remember all your efforts had always been futile while he held real power over you.
"So, what's next on my menu?" You asked loudly, unable to hold your tongue. "Breaking my bones, was it?"
You heard him chuckle.
"No, but it'll hurt," he whispered as he left his hooded coat on the floor, standing in front of you so you could see him getting undressed, his deeply bruised skin making you nauseated. "It'll hurt you just right."

The Celestial Archon
Chapter Two: The Moonlight Phenomenon
Genshin Impact x F! Reader
Warnings: major Genshin Impact Spoilers! Possible grammar errors.
Tag list: To Be Added. (sorry it needed to be published!)
Tumblr media
With the return of a mysterious archon, celebrations began! The night was filled with laughter, food, and memories being made. One person was amiss during the celebration, Mona still found herself unsettled and unable to be as excited as the others. An eerie feeling of unrest and anxiety has settled over our esteemed astrologist as our beloved heroes celebrate.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“I’ve finally found you,” Mona’s intense astrology session was interrupted by a cheery high pitched voice.
“Hello, Seraphim.” Mona turned to greet the beautiful woman.
She nearly gasped as the woman walked in, her hair now styled and her eyes shining brighter than before, the mysterious tattoos seemed to have faded and though she was still striking she looked far more human than before. The Celestial Archon merely smiled at the woman’s surprise and stepped towards her, hand out.
“We should talk, my child. Fate had brought us together, an astrologist with a water vision instead of a celestial vision is strange enough.” The woman was calm but not cold as Mona took her hand.
Mona was warm as the gentle archon interlocked their fingers and led her to the corner of the room, sinking down into a comfy chair and pointing at the one next to her. Disappointment creeped up in the astrologist as her idol released her hand. It was quickly replaced with embarrassment and a soft flush across her cheeks. Mona was wholeheartedly captured by the mystery goddess.
“I’m sure you’re aware,” The bright eyes goddess sighed, “That my arrival in Teyvat has stirred up some trouble.”
Mona frowned slightly, “There was already trouble, your sudden appearance is not the cause of it.”
“That’s good, but I still feel that my presence is going to stir the pot a bit. I am connected to all the stars and spaces of this world, I can feel and see things so deeply and I am well aware that there are challenges coming. It’s annoying in some ways.” Her eyes were distant again.
Words were lost on Mona for a moment. She couldn’t begin to imagine how stressful it was to feel so deeply, to constantly be overwhelmed by information and one’s connection to the world. Every piece of text written about the Celestial Archon was very vague. Information on the god of stars was hard to find and many details had been lost, yet one thing seemed to stay the same in ever piece of information Mona had consumed.
Even when the world was teeming with elemental energy and gods were far more common, the goddess of the sky, Seraphim, was an oddity. Before the Archon war, Seraphim was a lone wolf being without many ties. The last god of stars kept to herself and had no desire to interfere with the other’s problems, despite knowing so much of them. It was incredibly lonely and sad.
“You said it’s strange that I have a water vision,” Mona finally spoke.
“Yes,” The archon clicked her tongue, “Had I been around, somebody like you would’ve received a vision from me. However, you did not receive one of my visions and ultimately that should’ve impacted your abilities over astrology but it did not. You are quite the gifted character, aren’t you Miss Mona?”
Mona’s face was tomato red at the words of the beloved celestial archon, “I am honored to be complimented by the goddess of stars.”
“You’re very formal,” The starry eyed goddess laughed.
“Excuse me,” the two were interrupted by none other than the acting grandmaster, “I would like a word with the Lady of the Stars.”
Mona was hesitant, not wanting her idol to slip away but nodded and escorted the woman to the door. She was a bit dissatisfied with the conversation they’d had, wanting to know more and more of her long awaited god. The woman turned back to Mona, eyes twinkling, and embraced her. The normally level headed and somewhat haughty astrologist stiffened in shock but returned the warm hug. A sigh escaped Mona’s mouth, but she didn’t mind. The goddess was warm and something about her affection put Mona at peace.
“I am so lucky that somebody as beautiful and gifted as you awaited my return, Mona Megistus. Until we meet again, my darling.” The woman’s grasp around Mona tightened as she whispered in her ear.
The water mage watched as the strange goddess gracefully glided away with Jean. She was ethereal with the moonlight filtering in from tall windows, her skin illuminated as she hung on to every word Jean said. Even the confident and ever busy acting grandmaster found butterflies swarming her abdomen at the sight of the goddess. Jean felt as if she could be swept away by the young woman.
A part of Jean felt guilty for several reasons. As acting grand master, it was her duty to know about the citizens of Mond, it was her duty to work without personal emotions interfering, and her duty to oversee the safety of all the wind borne citizens. The Celestial Archon was challenging all of these duties. It was only natural for an astrologist to be obsessed with a god of stars, and Jean had interrupted the conversation. The Dandelion Knight couldn’t help but feel an innocent sort of crush on the goddess, she was kind and beautiful and she really seemed to want to get to know everyone. Ultimately, Jean was also aware of the danger a new archon posed.
Even so, the beautiful knight couldn’t help but want to push all those thoughts aside and capture the attention of the goddess for hours. She shook off that thought, attempting to focus on her duty as Mondstat’s respected Grand Master. Jean explained the general politics of the city of freedom and the individual jobs of the knights of favonious. She even went as far as to explain the adventurer’s guild and the recent trouble with Storm Terror. The Celestial Archon hung on to every word, nodding and asking occasional questions.
Jean took the time to explain the place they were in, a place between Mondstat and Liyue, and the teleport points that marked both countries. She was diligent and had already prepared some documents for the 8th Archon, maps and other things needed in the world. Jean had even communicated with others to ensure each safe place for the archon was marked. The allied domain was the middle ground, but Mondstat welcomed the new Archon with a living place and much to do. Liyue had also prepared a small home in the city for her.
The archon stared in wonder at the map. The knights of Favonious had prepared a room for her in their own head quarters, even the esteemed Tycoon had set aside a room. Wangshuu Inn welcomed her and Liyue Harbor gave her quarters close to Rex Lapis. Small notes were written for her, both Xiao and Diluc noted the stars were best seen from where they were while the traveler and Paimon had starred their favorite places to eat.
“Ah, Master Jean.” The Goddess spoke slowly, bowing.
“Please, Seraphim, there’s no reason to be so formal!” Jean’s voice rose nervously, “You are an archon after all.”
“Yes, that’s true. You do not serve me though, please refer to me as my chosen name. Formalities aren’t my taste much.” The Archon remarked bashfully.
Jean nodded, rose dusting her cheeks.
“I,” The Archon sighed, “Really need an open space so I can, uh, deal with my weapon situation.”
“Oh, oh!” Realization hit Jean.
“Oh, I am so sorry,” Jean babbled nervously, “Here let us go out to the cliffs, it should be okay, right?”
“Mhm,” The goddess followed the knight to the exit.
Aether and Paimon were also by the exit, turning at the sound of approaching foot steps. Aether grinned and waved at the Celestial Archon, she waved back and beamed. Paimon immediately took off, throwing herself into the Archons arms as the woman giggled. Jean’s face was priceless, attempting to process how this small otherworldly creature could just tackle and archon without shame.
Aether and his companion followed the two women, curious about the weapon another archon would wield. The group made their way to the edge of the cliff, the stars seeming extra bright and the moon full. The goddess lowered herself, feet on the lush grass and put her hand forth, palm out. Swiftly, she struck the air in front of her with her pointer finger, an unfamiliar constellation connecting at each point.
“Return to your master, Destroyer of Divinity.” Her words were clear and calm.
The constellation burst into a ray of white light, Aether covered his eyes as Paimon whined. Darkness fell again and he opened his eyes, gasping at the sight in front of him. The goddess held a long weapon close to her body, above her shoulder was a large opalescent curved blade, below the hip on the opposite side, another shimmering curved blade could be seen. No weapon in Teyvat was even similar.
“I-Is is that a scythe?!” Jean sputtered.
“Aha, well yes,” The goddess blushed at their reactions, “Destroyer of Divinity is an unusual weapon, meant to slice through dimensional and spatial barriers. I didn’t mean to shock you.”
Aether stood, mouth agape, “Even its name is terrifying! What the hell?”
“Ahahaha,” the archon continued to laugh nervously, “Well, its existence is basically to bring judgement from the heavens upon those deserving so yeah it’s a bit intimidating.”
Aether nearly screamed. How could she say something so casually?
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The traveler was feeling a bit nervous, as anybody would if an Archon decided to tag along for their daily commissions. Paimon and the Celestial Archon chattered away as Aether spoke to the Katheryne in Liyue. It did not help that the three had left before the others awoke and the Celestial Archon had left a note declaring it as a “friendly date.”
The last thing Aether wanted was to piss off literally any of the adepti, the Geo Archon himself, and even Jean who had taken a very noticeable interest in the goddess. A cloud seemed to look over the blonde but Paimon didn’t notice. The eighth Archon gave the teenager a sympathetic smile and put her hand on his shoulder, attempting to ease his nerves. Only one thing could make the situation worse, and unfortunately that particular thing was heading straight towards Aether.
“Let’s run,” Aether grabbed the startled archon’s wrist and dragged her to the teleport point nearby, ignoring the calls of a certain troublesome individual.
The archon chuckled, “I didn’t know daily commissions would be so exciting!”
Aether smiled sheepishly and let go of her wrist, trying to focus on which commission to start with. He was distracted by a sudden commotion, people yelled out as a hooded figure darted past the trio. Liyue Harbor’s guards thundered after the thief, knocking the poor panicked goddess off her feet.
The eight archon shut her eyes and prepared for the impact of the fall, but was yanked back by a pair of strong arms.
“Hey, girlie. Hold still.” A charming voice said.
The goddess watched as the lanky ginger haired man moved forward and shot an arrow, narrowly missing all the guard and hitting the suspicious character in the back. Aether’s eyes were filled with shock and panic at the sight of the man. Immediately, the goddess side stepped away from her hero, on high alert.
“Now,” He turned to her beaming, “What exactly is such a beautiful young lady doing with this kiddo?”
Her starry eyes met his azure eyes, “I’m just a new adventurer from Mondstat, learning the ropes from the best.”
“Hmm?” His gaze was questioning, “Well then, I’m Childe. Number 11 of the Fatui Harbingers. We should definitely get to know each other.”
The goddess moved to Aether in a quick swift movement. Suddenly, she wanted very much to escape Liyue Harbor. The Fatui were trouble, the goddess was new to the era but even she knew that they were dangerous. It was one of the first matters addressed at her arrival. She no longer knew the Cryo Archon, and this Tsarita sounded troubling.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” an annoyed voice chimed in, averting the red head’s attention.
A shorter man with a large hat and ominous aura stood behind the tall harbinger. Aether tensed up and the goddess wrapped her arm around his shoulder. Slowly, the trio made their escape at the expense of Childe. The older harbinger was chewing the younger man out for flirting and wasting time, both harbingers bickered as the traveler and his companions fled.
“You shouldn’t be wasting time on trying to get laid you, fool.” Scaramouche scowled, still ripping into his subordinate. “Especially not that woman, even from a mile away I can tell she’s trouble. You’re a harbinger not a host, get your shit together, Tartaglia.”
Childe smirked, looking down on his superior, “So you noticed her, too. I wonder what someone like that is doing with my favorite traveler.”
“We should alert the Tsarita of that girl,” Scaramouche mumbled, avoiding the earlier comment.
“I actually agree,” Childe’s eyes narrowed, “I was hoping to see for myself what she is, but that kid stopped me of course. There’s something strange about her but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I can charm it out of her?”
Scaramouche slapped his comrades back, “Let’s go you useless fucking playboy.”
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Wangshuu Inn looked beautiful and the aroma of food was far too enticing. Aether sighed as he watched his small, chubby companion chase after the eighth archon. The woman was supposed to be divine, yet in some ways he reminded her of a puppy or a kitten. She was somewhat moody with her affections and spacey like a kitten may be, and still somehow clingy and energetic like a puppy.
Luckily for the two, Aether had a commission from Verr Goldet. The blonde tried to maintain composure as he saw a familiar dark haired yaksha speaking with the Inn Keeper, not wanting to admit he’d accidentally led the Fatui straight to the Archon. The traveler watched in fascination and amusement as Verr’s face twisted from composed to horrified when Xiao was knocked over by the goddess. The conqueror of demons merely grunted and stood back up, clutching the ethereal woman to his chest.
Xiao’s eyes were cold as they met Aether’s, clearly annoyed with the boy, but his expression softened at the yawning goddess in his arms. Once again, the traveler was overcome with curiosity at her behavior. Only moments ago the woman was bubbly and hyper, now her eyes were fluttering and she was snuggling up to one of the most dangerous beings in Teyvat. Without a word, the tattooed man spun around and carried the goddess upstairs.
“I’m here for your com-“ Aether began.
“Who was that?!” Verr Goldet burst out, “I’ve never seen Adeptus Xiao so damn agreeable. What just happened? Is this a dream?”
Paimon giggled, “He loooooves her! That person is the one we told you about before! Even Xiao can’t be in a bad mood around her, it’s amazing!”
“Oh,” Verr blushed at Paimon’s words, “She’s that person? No wonder he’s been so restless.”
“Wait, restless?” Aether questioned.
Verr Sighed and beckoned the two to a guest free area. The two followed her into a small back room, exchanging glances. The boss lady pulled out an old book and brushed the dust away. Aether and Paimon peered down at the book, puzzled by its appearance. It was a dark leather with carvings of the moon and clouds on the front.
Carefully, Verr flipped the book open and turned it to the two. Paimon shot up, shrieking. The book looked like a book you’d find in a library but was strange. Instead of ongoing text, the pages had scraps and pieces stuck on the pages with various notes scribbled around. Verr turned to the first page, placing her middle finger at the beginning text and giving Aether and expectant look. The traveler leaned down and began to read the text.
“The moonlight phenomenon: Legend of Liyue.
It is said that there was once a ruler of the stars, one who ruled over the sky as the Gods rule over our land. When tides of war overcame Liyue, Rex Lapis sought out the monarch of the sky to form a contract.
Seraphim granted Rex Lapis the moonlight phenomenon. Liyue’s skies were never to dim even on the darkest of nights, the moon and stars would remain as guides for Liyue always. It is said that this contract assisted in bringing the evil gods to their doom, the sky illuminating the way to victory for Liyue and all of Teyvat.”
Verr flipped the page as Aether exhaled trying to wrap his mind around the strange passage.
“The Contract: Seraphim and Rex Lapis.
The circumstances of the moonlight phenomenon still remain unknown. It is an ancient mystery that many still attempt to solve, what exactly did the Geo Archon barter for his people?
Nobody knows, still. However, the most common theories are that the contract has not been fulfilled or that there was no contract to begin with. Many believe that Rex Lapis and Seraphim were secret lovers, and this was Seraphim’s gift to her beloved. Others hypothesize that Seraphim’s wish was never fulfilled, as her death sealed the victory for The Seven Archons.”
Aether shuddered. People in Liyue believe that The Celestial Archon died in the Archon war? Verr flipped to a page in the middle of the book.
“Liyue’s Priestess Seraphim
It is said that a woman with eyes vast like the galaxy beyond and mysterious astrological powers once enchanted all of Liyue.
Seraphim, the last Celestial wielder was Liyue’s last hope. Though she is not honored as an archon, she is known vaguely as a priestess. The woman who captured the attention of the archon’s themselves and was adored by the Adepti. Few remain, but Liyue’s legends claim that the priestess of the stars was the lover of Rex Lapis, the lover of the Vigilant Yaksha, or the lover another adepti.
Even fewer discuss the devastation that occurred when she fell from grace. Her death was the catalyst of the only known battle between Liyue’s very own Archon, The Anemo Archon and his people, and the Adepti. A lesser known battle that almost forced both Mondstat and Liyue into Civil Wars.
When the dust settled, all that stood was the full moon. Many Adepti still honor the priestess under the moonlight by fighting evil spirits and demons.”
Aether’s eyes widened at Verr. She solemnly shook her head as the traveler’s face fell. Xiao, Ganyu, Zhongli, Venti, all of them suffered so terribly. It was confusing to the boy that every text described the Celestial Archon as deceased. His head began to hurt from the information. Verr sighed and led him back out.
“Once you finish commissions, why don’t you two stay here? I’ll prepare a room for you,” The boss was sympathetic.
Aether grimaced but nodded, leading Paimon out to finish their duties.
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Somewhere in the shadows of Wangshuu Inn crept a Fatui agent, slipping away as the traveler set out. The shadowy figure grinned at the piece of paper in their hand.
“Protected by the traveler and the Adepti. Master Childe will be interested in this,” His eyes were dark as he approached his fellow Fatui agents, “She could be very useful to us, this (Y/N).”
The suspicious shadows began to slink away, overcome with desire to inform their boss of the new information. Only a few feet away, a strange creature ducked down to avoid being seen by the agents, fidgeting.
“The angel is here!” The creature shrieked as the cult like group left it’s sight, “(Y/N) will be ours.”

Maribat soulmates AU
I wrote most of it a year ago, but never got around to posting it. It’s probably been done before, but I’m a sucker for soulmate AU, so you people are getting it anyway.
Hope you all like it!
I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors, English is not my first language. I hope it’s still intelligible.
.
.
.
General headcanons for the AU:
-Soulmates share the same skills set. When one knows how to do something, the other can do it too. They have the same proficiency, but it gets adapted to their body type, their way of life and their personality and behavior. (ex: Marinette and Damian can both use the katana, but they don’t parry the same way or use the same combinations of attacks.)
-They know when the skill they’re currently using come from their soulmate. It’s like a small acknowledgement at the back of their mind.
-When they meet face to face, they recognize each other immediately.
.
-When Marinette really starts to talk, Arabic and Mandarin words are as present in her vocabulary as French words.
-Sabine is delighted that her baby girl’s soulmate has roots in her culture too. Tom starts looking up Arabic words to try to understand what she is saying. With only a baby pronunciation to get by, it is slow going.
-When Marinette is old enough to understand that she could speak Arabic and Mandarin thanks to her soulmate, she decides that it’s not a fair trade. She gets two languages from them and they only get one! She settles on learning Italian with Nonna Gina.
-Marinette is very agile and light on her feet.
-She knows that baking is her skill, but cooking is her soulmate’s. Every time she helps her maman with diner, she feels like someone is backing her up at the back of her mind. A warm presence easily overlooks. Like ‘oh yeah, it’s your skill. Thank you for sharing.’
-Arabic, Mandarin and cooking are the only thing she really gets from her soulmate. Or so she thinks. Assassin’s skills aren’t exactly useful in the day to day life of a French bakery.
-When she becomes Ladybug, she thinks that the acrobatics are thanks to the magic suit. Until she finds herself with a sword in her hands and suddenly, she isn’t so sure anymore.
-Ladybug’s suit includes a black utility belt made of little pouches with self-sealing flaps and full of all sort of things: zip ties, a gas mask (perfectly functional despite its small size – don’t question the magic), an infra-red flashlight, a fingerprint kit, skeleton keys, smoke bombs, flash bombs, a rebreathing apparatus, a miniature voice recorder, a basic first-aid kit. Everything is bright red with black polka dots. Even the zip ties.
-After a careful inventory of her utility belt, Marinette acknowledges that probably half of it is the result of soulmate influence. Tikki had told her that generally her Chosens only use their yo-yo and Marinette would never have thought of zip ties on her own.
.
-Damian knows that he has a soulmate because he can speak French and Italian like a native when he only ever learnt Arabic and Mandarin.
-He scoffs at the thought of a soulmate. He’s an Al Ghul and his grandfather’s heir, he has no need for such frivolities. When he’ll met his soulmate, he’ll either recruit them for the League or kill them, depending on what his mood will be that day and their level of uselessness.
-He starts learning English when he’s nine following his mother’s orders. If he’s to be his father’s heir, he needs to be able to communicate with him and the various ‘children’ the man adopted over the years. He thinks his soulmate is helping him by learning English words he hasn’t learnt yet. He doesn’t dwell on it.
-It isn’t until he starts living with his father in Gotham that he starts to see soulmates in a new light. Richard Grayson’s soulmate is Starfire. Timothy Drake’s soulmate is Superboy. He can’t win against either of them. Maybe his soulmate won’t be useless after all.
-Damian has a hard time falling asleep in a house full of highly trained strangers at first. He starts exploring the Manor, before ending in the kitchen. Following instincts that aren’t his own, he makes chocolate-chip cookies. While preparing the dough, he can feel a warm almost-there presence at the back of his mind. He starts doing it every night. Sometimes he tries new recipes. They all turn pretty good. No one ever bother him.
(-They have all already checked the camera feed to see what he was up to. And if baking is relaxing him, they aren’t going to comment. He’s enough of a prickly porcupine, no need to put him even more on the defensive.)
-Damian grows to love his family. And maybe his soulmate, whoever they were.
.
-Amelia Brody is Marinette’s class interpreter and tour guide for the duration of their school trip in Gotham. She’s cheerful and excited to show her city to those children. She’s a bit weirded-out by the class dynamics but put it down to French people, until it’s time to tour Wayne Enterprise.
-They’re just finishing touring the open-to-visitors part of WE when she realizes that Marinette is rooted to the spot and facing the ‘employees only’ elevators a few meters away.
“Marinette?” she calls, coming closer. “Is everything alright?”
The girl blinks at her, eyes wide, before looking back at the elevators.
“I-I don’t… I’m sorry… I just… Soulmate?”
Some of the other teenagers scoff.
“Quit making a scene, girl.” Alya rolls her eyes.
Amelia has been getting to know those children for days and she saw how Marinette was treated, how everyone believed Lila’s grand tales and it’s not her place to interfere, even less so when she doesn’t have the full picture, but when she sees Marinette force herself to take a step back, shoulders hunched up, she swipes out her phone to call security and informs them of the situation.
A few minutes later, a dark-haired man cheerfully joins them. Amelia is standing like a barrage between Marinette and the things her classmates are murmuring about the girl while Caline Bustier imitates a pot plant. (Amelia is going to write a long report on this class, just watch her). Still, Amelia is very relieved to see Dick Grayson. (She manages to keep the fangirling down to a mental squeal, thank God)
“So, you’re feeling your soulmate is upstairs?” he asks Marinette.
“I’m sorry,” she replies like a reflex, looking down at her shoes.
“Don’t be! Let’s go see if we can find them!”
Everyone piles up in the elevator. There’re so many people working at WE that the elevators are all very spacious.
It’s not quite a skill that make Marinette push the top floor button, but it’s not that different from muscle memory. Her soulmate has pushed this button so many times, that Marinette doesn’t even hesitate. Dick’s eyes lit up at her actions. After all there’s not a lot of people at the top floor who can be her soulmate. He doesn’t quite like the tone of her classmates even if he can’t understand what they’re saying, but the tour guide’s expression is a sign to behold, so he doesn’t think he’s imagining the insults.
-When the elevator’s doors open again, Marinette makes a beeline for the central office just as the door opens and a young man with dark hair and green eyes exits with a puzzled frown.
Their eyes meet.
“Hi,” Marinette blushes, incapable of looking anywhere else.
“Hello,” Damian replies, voice soft.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
The rain was pelting hard against the window in Y/N’s dorm, the loudness of the rain drops smashing against the glass had awoken the girl from her slumber. She sat up from bed and leaned against her headboard.
Rubbing her eyes, Y/N adjusted to the dim lighting in the room. Everything in her life was just perfect, her grades were good, she had lots of friends, and last but most definitely not least there was Harry.
They had been dating for over a year now and Y/N could see it lasting, what she felt with Harry was something so indescribable, but it made her so happy. The two of them distracted each other from their lives. Y/N helped him take his mind off He Who Must Not Be Named, and he distracted her from her parents.
Her parents did not approve of their relationship, and Y/N knew it probably had something to do with the fact they secretly supported Voldemort. But she hadn’t ever told him that, for the matter she hadn’t told many peoples.
Y/N was staring at the top of her bed, her stomach beginning to turn. This usually happened when she got a bad feeling. Y/N focused on trying to figure out what might happen, fail a test? Have an argument with someone?
Y/N thoughts were going fifty miles an hour that she didn’t hear her friend wake up next to her. “You look deep in thought.” She joked, Y/N turning to face her. “What’s the matter?” Her friend questioned.
Y/N let out a sigh. “Something bad is about to happen to me.” She mumbled, knowing how ridiculous it might have sounded.
“You’ve been listening to Trelawney too much.” Her friend brushed off with a smile, but it slowly dropped when she saw Y/N’s expression. “Come on Y/N, what could possible happen?”
“I don’t know what, but I feel it coming.” Y/N voiced her thoughts to her friend.
“Let’s do something to take your mind off this.” Her friend suggested. Y/N thought that be the best. Normally when she didn’t feel great, if she did something else to busy herself, the thought usually disappeared.
“Where are you planning to take me?” Y/N questioned, she got out of bed and collected her clothes that she would put on.
“I need to go down to Owlery, I promised to send my sister something from Zonko’s.” Her friend informed her, going into the toilet to get dressed.
Y/N decided to just get dressed in the dorm, the other three girls were fast asleep so she felt comfortable changing. The two girls them left the dormitory once they were ready and headed out their common room.
There wasn’t many students around the castle yet, but this was around the time many of them would be waking up. Many would wake up so thankful it was finally the weekend and they could have some sort of freedom.
Umbridge’s rule over the school was making many reach breaking point, there were new rules almost every day and it was completely turning Hogwarts into a prison. They weren’t allowed to do anything, couldn’t act like normal teenagers, she was determined to make everyone prim, proper and to not challenge the Ministry.
There only hope was Dumbledore’s Army, the only freedom they had. But Marietta Edgecombe had ratted them out, and they were all severely punished. Y/N felt sorry for Harry, it was all going so well and once they were caught, he blamed himself. Y/N tried to reassure her boyfriend that it wasn’t his fault, but she couldn’t get through to him.
In fact, the two of them hadn’t really spoken since Umbridge began giving them punishments, Harry was isolating himself and kept his distance. Y/N was missing him but sometimes he did this, so she decided to let him have a moment to himself and then he would be back to normal.
The girls eventually reached the Owlery, Y/N’s friend immediately heading to find her owl so she could send the products from Zonko to her sister. Y/N looked around at the different owls, but one caught her eye.
It was her parent’s owl. And it had a letter tied around their talon. Y/N untied the letter, about to read it until her friend appeared behind her.
“Has Y/N got a love note from Potter?” Her friend teased her.
“Parents owl.” Y/N informed her friend, who raised both brows. Y/N’s parents hadn’t really kept in contact with her much when she was at Hogwarts, so receiving a letter was unusual.
“What did they say?” Her friend questioned.
“I’m not sure, I haven’t read it yet.” Y/N replied, laughing slightly as she thought of something. “Might be so sad, might leave my nose running.”
“If it’s just to bring you down, ignore them.” Her friend reminded her, her arm wrapping around Y/N’s shoulder. “Let’s head back up, I’m starving.”
Y/N agreed, the two girls heading up the castle for breakfast. They entered the Great Hall and were about to sit at their own house table before Hermione waved them over.
“What’s that?” Hermione questioned immediately as they sat down in front of her, the girl’s two best friends were nowhere to be seen, but not unusual for them to be late for breakfast.
“Nosy are we, Hermione?” Y/N’s friend joked, Hermione playfully shrugged it off.
“It’s a letter from my parents.” Y/N told her, placing the unread letter onto the table.
“Oh.” Hermione mumbled, most people knew what Y/N’s parents were like, she had either told them or heard Harry’s complaints about they didn’t approve of him and the relationship. “Is everything alright?”
“I haven’t read it yet. I will after I have something to eat.” Y/N replied, scanning the table to try and find something to eat. “Where’s the toast?” Her friend reaching and grabbing a piece of toast for Y/N.
The three girls just quietly ate breakfast for a while and enjoyed each other’s company, Ron tiredly stumbled towards them. “Nice of you to finally join us Ronald.” Hermione greeted as he sat down beside her.
“Hermione, I was exhausted.” Ron huffed, grabbing as much food as he could onto his plate, he always acted like he barely eats.
“You always are.” Hermione mumbled under her breath, going back to eating some porridge.
“Where’s Harry?” Y/N blurted out, poor Ron had been harassed by her since Harry started to isolate himself. Ron most definitely knew more than she did.
“Still getting ready, mate.” Ron spoke with his mouth full, Hermione pulling a face and scoffing. “I think he’s alright today, you know, I’d have a chat with him today.” He suggested.
“Thanks Ron.” Y/N smiled, finishing what she was having. Her eyes caught the letter again, she really didn’t want to open it but she was also desperate to find out what they want. With a quiet sigh, she picked up the letter and began to read it.
Dear Y/N,
We hope you are well at Hogwarts, Umbridge seems to finally be turning that school around for the better, I’m sure you’d agree.
Well you would have when you were younger.
We miss our old Y/N, always following the rules and in our footsteps. But every since you started to attend Hogwarts with that daft old man as your head teacher, you changed.
And of course that boyfriend of yours didn’t help either, just like his father, always in trouble. Poor Lily should’ve saved herself.
As you know, the Dark Lord is back. You know how we always felt towards him, but we fear he will target us because of your choices. Many have heard he won’t accept us, because of your closeness to Potter.
He may come after us Y/N, we need you back on our side. Otherwise we’re all dead, you don’t want Potter finding out you’ve been killed by him? He can’t lose another loved one to the Dark Lord.
Write back to us as soon as you can, we can guide you along the way.
All the best,
Mum and Dad.
Y/N eyes began to well up, she knew that feeling from this morning meant something, but for it to be this bad? How on earth she was meant to tell Harry this? “Everything alright?” Her friend put a hand Y/N’s shoulder, the latter had completely forgot where she was at the moment.
“I need to go.” Y/N informed them, quickly jumping up from the bench.
“What did they say to you?” Hermione questioned, but Y/N didn’t answer her. The girl made her way from the hall, eyes trained on the floor to avoid any eye contact from her friends. But that made it difficult to watch where she was going.
Y/N crashed right into someone. “I’m sorry.” She quickly apologised as she refused to look up, she just wanted to go back into her dorm room.
“Y/N?” A voice she could instantly recognise.
“I can’t talk right now, Harry.” Y/N rushed past him, she needed to think what she was going to tell him, if she was going to tell him.
“I just hope he don’t want to leave me.” She mumbled to herself.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
It had been a few weeks and Y/N hadn’t said a word to anybody, her and Harry had completely switched places. She was the one isolating herself, trying to decide what to do. Ignore what her parents said, stay with her boyfriend and friends and hope to God nothing happens to them. Or risk listening to her parents, and possibly lose her relationships at Hogwarts?
She had been exchanging letters between her parents in the meantime to see what she needed to do, and it seemed to be to just join them at the Ministry, which didn’t seem so bad. Her parents worked high up for the Ministry anyway, so as long as they gave her permission to leave, Umbridge would let her.
Y/N had pretended to stay asleep until the rest of her dorm mates left, including her friend, before eventually getting up. The feeling in her chest was back from before, the one she got before her parents letter. “Something bad is about to happen to me.” She sadly mumbled, even the weather had mirrored her emotions, it was a dreary day, grey skies and gloom surrounded the castle.
Y/N fidgeted with her hands as she thought what would happen, anxiety fuelling her veins. “Why I feel this way? I don’t know…” She took a deep breath. “Maybe-“
The dorm door opened and revealed Y/N’s friend. “What the fuck is going with you?” She demanded. “What did they say to you to make you like this?”
“It’s complicated.” Y/N brushed off, should she tell her? She did tell her friend everything and maybe it would be good to have some advice.
After some deep breaths and forcing tears to stop falling, Y/N confessed to her friend everything. By the end of it, her friend was in complete shock, face contorting from confusing, to anger, to annoyance.
“And I just don’t know what to do about Harry.” Y/N sadly mumbled. “I think of him so much it drives me crazy.”
“Y/N, this is bad.” Her friend managed to stammer out.
“I just don’t want him to leave me.” Y/N cried, finally allowing the tears to fall.
“Don’t be ridiculous, Y/N.” Her friend snapped. “Of course he will. Joining the people who support the being who killed his parents?” She raised a brow. “I’d definitely forgive you.” Sarcastically she finished.
“But he knows what my parents are like.” Y/N countered.
“I don’t think he’ll care.” Her friend pointed out, deep down Y/N knew the same, Harry would be extremely hurt by this. “How the fuck are you gonna get out this?”
“I don’t know.” Y/N shrugged. “You Know Who will kill them if I don’t help them.”
“Are you forgetting who your boyfriend is?” Her friend raised a brow.
Oh yeah, it would be completely fair on Harry to force him to protect her family. “Like he’s gonna show mercy.” Y/N huffed. “Harry was with Cedric and look what happened, he wants Harry and to just kill who gets in his way.”
It was silent for a moment, neither of them knew what to say. “What are you gonna tell him?” Her friend quietly spoke up, Y/N didn’t say anything. Her friend’s mouth fell open and eyes widened at Y/N’s lack of an answer. “You need to tell him.”
“And say what?! Sorry, I need to go help my Death Eater parents and probably do something for You Know Who.” Y/N snapped.
“I don’t know how to help you.” Her friend awkwardly mumbled.
Y/N knew she couldn’t. She was now trapped with no escape.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
Y/N was at the Ministry with her parents, she still had no idea what they were doing or why they needed her, but it wasn’t as bad as she thought. The family got into an elevator and started to head down a few floors.
“Now, whatever you do, don’t talk.” Her mum warned her before the elevator stopped, the girl nodded and they walked out as the doors opened. Y/N could see Draco Malfoy’s father and another woman with curly black hair.
“Did it work?” Y/N’s father asked Lucius.
“I believe so.” Lucius replied, nobody really taking notice to Y/N.
“I can’t wait to meet him.” The black haired woman cackled.
“Now, now, Bellatrix. We have to leave him for the Dark Lord.” Lucius reminded her, the woman huffing dramatically. Y/N’s eyes widened, oh how she was praying they weren’t taking about Harry.
Please don’t be talking about Harry.
“What if he’s fine?” Y/N thought to herself. “It’s my mind that’s wrong. And I just let bad thoughts linger for far too long.”
“We’re going in. Have your wand ready.” Her dad whispered to her. They walked through a door with a handle in the middle into a huge room filled with crystal balls. She couldn’t study them for long before being dragged into the darkness.
The door had opened again a few minutes later, but Y/N couldn’t see who had walked in, only dragged by her parents deeper into the room.
“They should be here!” Harry’s voice was heard, Y/N’s heart dropping to her stomach. Why did he have to come here?
“Harry? It’s got your name on it.” Neville informed him.
“Follow Lucius.” Her mum whispered in her ear, Y/N reluctantly following him, who was now wearing a Death Eater mask.
“Harry!” Here it goes, Y/N kept back from Lucius as the group’s wands lit up the path, she desperately wanted to stay hidden and they would never know she was here.
“Where’s Sirius and Y/N?” Harry demanded as Lucius approached him.
“How fortunate we are to have Y/N right with us.” You could hear the smirk in Lucius’ voice, Y/N wanted to run and escape, but how could one girl manage to escape four Death Eaters?
“What are you talking about?” Harry angrily asked.
“Come on Y/N, don’t be shy.” Lucius gestures for her to come forward. Slowly and painfully, the girl got closer to Harry and the words kept repeating in her head.
“Don’t you give me up. Please don’t give up.”

Not only is it Percy Jackson's birthday today, it is also Percabeth's (12th??) Anniversary, so here are some of the best Percabeth moments in PJO and PJO alone. [The light blue is just me being me]
“You drool when you sleep.” (obviously)
“Me, go with you on the… the ‘Thrill Ride of Love’? How embarrassing is that? What if someone saw me?” (It was at this scene when I knew, these two would be my comfort couple in the future)
“I don’t know what my mom will do, I just know I’ll fight next to you.” “Why?” “Because you’re my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more stupid questions?”
Annabeth’s shroud was so beautiful—gray silk with embroidered owls—I told her it seemed a shame not to bury her in it. She punched me and told me to shut up. (ah, young love)
PERCY CARRYING AROUND ANNABETHS PICTURE IN HIS NOTEBOOK TO REMIND HIMSELF THAT SHE WAS REAL no i’m not taking this one straight from the book, the paragraph is too long.
But whenever Annabeth talked about the time she spent with them, I kind of felt . . . I don’t know. Uncomfortable? No. That’s not the word. The word was jealous. (and it still took him four years to realize he was in love with her??)
She looked good. Really good. I probably would’ve been tongue-tied if I could’ve said anything except ‘reet, reet, reet’.
She tackled me with a hug, then pulled away just as quickly. “I’m glad you’re not a guinea pig.” “Me, too.” I hoped my face wasn’t as red as it felt. (nine year old me is SCREAMING)
“I’ll get us back to the ship,” I told her. “It’s okay. Just hang on.” Annabeth nodded to let me know she was better now, and then she murmured something I couldn’t hear because of the plugs in my ears. (THE INTIMACY)
The crowd cheered. Annabeth planted a kiss on my cheek. The roaring got a lot louder after that. (THEIR FIRST KISS DFGHJNBGVFDFGH why am I still fangirling over this, I've seen them kiss a billion times-)
“Um, who should I ask?” She punched me in the gut. “Me, Seaweed Brain.” “Oh. Oh, right.” (✨slow dance✨)
[Aphrodite] When she smiled at me, just for a moment she looked a little like Annabeth. (I repeat: AND IT STILL TOOK HIM FOUR YEARS TO REALIZE HE WAS IN LOVE WITH HER????)
“You didn’t believe I was dead?” “Never.” (I believe I was dead at this point)
“I, uh, was thinking we got interrupted at Westover Hall. And . . . I think I owe you a dance.” She smiled slowly. “All right, Seaweed Brain.” (✨slow dance✨ part two *more screaming*)
“Think positive. Tomorrow you’re off to camp! After orientation you’ve got your date—”
“It’s not a date!” I protested.”It’s just Annabeth, Mom. Jeez!”
“She’s coming all the way from camp to meet you.”
“Well, yeah.”
“You’re going to the movies.”
“Yeah."
“Just the two of you.”
“Mom!”
She held up her hands in surrender, but I could tell she was trying hard not to smile. (this whole scene deserved to be in here and you know it)
“Hey, it’s . . . it’s okay.” I patted her on the back. I was aware of everything in the room . I felt like I could read the tiniest print on any book on the shelves. Annabeth’s hair smelled like lemon soap. Behind me, somebody cleared his throat. It was one of Annabeth’s half-brothers, Malcolm. His face was bright red. I stepped away from Annabeth “We were just looking at maps,” I said stupidly. (imagine falling madly in love with Annabeth Chase and not knowing it until she kisses you, couldn't be me 😐)
Annabeth glared at me like she was going to punch me. And then she did something that surprised me even more. She kissed me. (*screaming intensifies*)
Annabeth and I pretty much skirted around each other. I was glad to be with her, but it also kind of hurt, and it hurt when I wasn’t with her, too. (I've just given up on screaming at Percy for not realizing his feelings sooner 😐🔫)
Annabeth wiped a tear from her cheek. “I’m glad you’re not dead, Seaweed Brain.” “Thanks,” I said. “Me too.” (you know what I'm not glad about? Beckendorf's death 😃👍🏽)
We locked eyes. I thought of a different time last summer, under Mount St. Helen's, when Annabeth thought I was going to die and she kissed me. She cleared her throat and looked away. “Prophecy.” “Right. Prophecy.” (ahaha pain)
Malcolm grinned at me. “We’ll wait outside while you finish inspection.” The Athena campers filed out the door while Annabeth cleaned up her bunk. I shuffled uneasily and pretended to go through some more reports. Technically, even on inspection, it was against camp rules for two campers to be . . . like, alone in a cabin. That rule had come up a lot when Silena and Beckendorf started dating. Anyway, for some strange reason I was thinking about this as I watched Annabeth straighten up. (fOr sOmE rEaSoN)
“Hold on, Seaweed Brain.” It was Annabeth’s voice, much clearer now. “You’re not getting away from me that easily.” (*sobs*)
“I’ll go with Percy,” Annabeth said. “Then we’ll join you, or we’ll go wherever we’re needed.” Somebody in the back of the group said, “No detours you two.” (stop saving the world and go make out 🙄)
Before I could lose my courage, I said, “Don’t I get a kiss for luck? It’s kind of a tradition, right?” I figured she would punch me. Instead, she drew her knife and stared at the army marching toward us. “Come back alive, Seaweed Brain. Then we’ll see.” (AND COME BACK ALIVE, HE DID)
“You’re cute when you’re worried,” she muttered. “Your eyebrows get all scrunched together.”
“You are not going to die while I owe you a favor,” I said. “Why did you take that knife?”
“You would’ve done the same for me.” (HOLY F U C K)
I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. But this was Annabeth. If I couldn’t trust her, I couldn’t trust anyone. (goodnight.)
I glanced back. Annabeth was trying not to meet my eyes. Her face was pale. I flashed back to two years ago, when I’d thought she was going to take the pledge to Artemis and become a Hunter. I’d been on the edge of a panic attack, thinking that I’d lose her. Now, she looked pretty much the same way. I thought about the Three Fates, and the way I’d seen my life flash by. I could avoid all that. No aging, no death, no body in the grave. I could be a teenager forever, in top condition, powerful, and immortal, serving my father. I could have power and eternal life. Who could refuse that? Then I looked at Annabeth again. I thought about my friends from camp: Charles Beckendorf, Michael Yew, Silena Beauregard, so many other who were now dead. I thought about Ethan Nakamura and Luke. And I knew what I had to do. “No,” I said. “I’m honored and everything. Don’t get me wrong. It’s just . . . I’ve got a lot of life left to live. I’d hate to peak in my sophomore year.” The gods were glaring at me, but Annabeth had her hands over her mouth. Her eyes were shining. And that kind of made up for it. (THIS WHOLE SCENE RUINED MY PERCEPTION OF MEN. THEY ARE, IN FACT, NOT AS PERFECT AS PERCY)
“I am never, ever going to make things easy for you, Seaweed Brain. Get used to it.” When she kissed me, I had the feeling my brain was melting right through my body. (I'M MELTING)
We held hands right up to the moment they dumped us in the water. Afterward, I had the last laugh. I made an air bubble at the bottom of the lake. Our friends kept waiting for us to come up, but hey—when you’re the son of Poseidon, you don’t have to hurry. And it was pretty much the best underwater kiss of all time. (DFGHJHGFDFGHJNHGFDFGHJNBVCFGHJMNBVCFKIJUHYGT I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER RECOVER FROM THIS ITS TOO PERFECT GOODBYE FOREVER)

Just read your paranoid Bella post (it was awesome) and what stood out to me is that in these kinds of AUs the Quiletes seem to be kinda left out. If I recall, Billie actively tried to warn Bella that Cullens are bad news and even argued w Charlie about that. How do you think a scenario with Bella who’s not interested in Edward and instead rekindles her childhood friendship w Jacob from the get go (mb befriends Leah too? and is known as ‘the kid w her own company outside of school’) could go?
The post anon is referencing.
I guess I can answer this earlier than I would normally. Sometimes it's good to shuffle the posts around!
Why No Quileute?
Many of the AUs people ask about center around either the Twilight period (something about Bella is significantly different before Twilight begins), the New Moon period (New Moon changes in such a significant manner that Eclipse never happens), or very rarely the post Breaking Dawn period (Bella's off prancing in the woods and Jake is just kind of there).
With the first two especially the circumstances make it unlikely Bella will significantly cross paths with Jake let alone discover the secret of the wolves and meet the rest of the Tribe.
What Do You Mean Bella Might Not Find Out?!
Remember, Jake was not Bella's childhood friend, that was his older sisters. When Bella stops visiting Forks Jake, only a few years younger, seemed like light years younger than Bella Swan. He was not on her radar at all and was that annoying kid brother.
Even as a teenager, Bella's clearly bothered by the age gap between them, seeing it as much larger than it really is.
In the beginning of Twilight she's pleased to see Jake, is willing to flirt with him for information, but she's not at all interested. She only seeks him out in New Moon to work on the motorcycles with him as free labor. From that, the friendship we see through the rest of the series grows.
Before that, though, Billy was more on Bella's radar than Jake ever was. And Billy in canon is Bella's slight enemy as he tries to warn her away from Edward the vampire. Well, Bella certainly knows more than him! So, there, Billy!
As for the wolves themselves, they didn't want to tell Bella, Sam had Jake cut all ties. By happenstance Jake had happened to tell Bella this story and he happens to be able to jog her memory. Had that not happened, she would have assumed he left her just as Edward did and sunk even deeper into depression.
Likely, Charlie would have sent her to live with her mother.
She would never find out the mysteries of the "bears" in the woods, would never meet all the members of the tribe, would never truly develop her deep friendship with Jacob, and she and the Quileute would simply not cross paths.
Bella and the tribe very easily could have been ships passing in the night.
Why No Quileute in Paranoid Bella AU?
Now, this is a Bella who does not want to be with Edward but she's also a paranoid, terrified, wreck. Edward is sneaking into her room every night before Bella gets to First Beach
I imagine she likely does not go to the beach, or if she does, pointedly does not ask anyone about Edward. NOPE, SHE KNOWS NOTHING. Because for all she knows, Edward is hiding somewhere in the bushes watching her.
He, after all, has dropped hints that he knows everything that happens to her.
Bella doesn't know about the treaty at this point and that Edward cannot physically go to La Push.
When Billy gives her cryptic hints, she probably gives him deer in the headlights looks and debates scribbling "SAVE ME" on a sheet of paper, but for all she knows Billy is a human and stands no chance against Edward. In that moment, Edward is right outside her house, in his car, listening to every word.
If Bella tells Billy to get her the fuck out, she might very well be condemning him to be eaten.
"AHAHAHAHAHA BILLY, I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND. SO MUCH."
When Billy sends Jake to Prom, Bella is in Edward's arms, right at that moment. Worse, unlike Billy, Jake does think this is ridiculous and is utterly mortified at interrupting her date like this.
Bella wants to cry.
"AHAHAHAHA, JAKE, I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND. SO MUCH."
Point being though, Edward doesn't tell Bella about the wolves, and she likely doesn't know about them from the beach. So to her, the Quileutes are just humans who seem to know what she knows. Edward likely never expands on this as he never has to in this universe. So he also never explains things like the treaty. This means they are just normal people who stand no better chance against Edward than she does. She can't go running to them for sanctuary, screaming, and potentially have Edward eat the entire tribe as he would have Biology class.
Just as she wouldn't put her mother or Charlie in danger, Paranoid Bella will not knowingly endanger the tribe.
Paranoid Bella Rekindles Her Friendship with Jake (and Leah Comes Along for the Ride)
Let's say Bella does go to First Beach and notes that Edward says he can't make it for whatever reason. Bella's not sure she believes this but he does seem unnaturally disappointed.
Sam drops his "The Cullens aren't welcome here" ominous line and Bella stares at him long and hard. He seems to know something, might even know the same something she knows, in the first timeline she likely decides it's not worth the risk of Edward overhearing them.
In this one though... this may be her only chance to gather information.
Sam is intimidating and scary looking (which is too bad as he's the one who could actually do something in this situation). So she resorts to her "bad flirting with Jake" plan.
Once again, it works, but this time Bella's soul dies inside.
Oh yeah, the Cullens are vampires and eat people (Bella knew it, SHE KNEW IT) but Jake thinks it's all superstitious nonsense. The only way he has heard of to kill them are noble werewolf spirit warriors from the tribe. But they have the treaty with the Cullens because they don't eat people on purpose (Bella cries inside).
No, Jake's never heard of anyone being an actual spirit warrior, don't be stupid, Bella. It's just an old legend.
Bella leaves the beach miserable.
The Quileute Tribe clearly knows but it seems like there's nothing they can do about it either.
BuT EdWArD's StIll In HeR RoOm aT NiGHt!
Bella decides it's worth the risk.
She drives to Billy's, watching for Edward tailgating her at every moment, but sees no sign of him (thank god). Luckily for her, in this early Twilight period, Edward was trying to pretend not to be a lunatic. So he wasn't running down her car yet like he was in Eclipse.
He's very unhappy she's visiting land he cannot go on but will pretend everything's fine. THIS IS FINE. SHE COULD BE EATEN BY BEARS BUT THIS IS FINE.
Bella confesses to Billy that Edward Cullen, the vampire, is sneaking into her bedroom at night to watch her sleep and she is certain he will try to eat her.
This was not what Billy had hoped or expected to hear from Bella Swan.
Those demonic motherfuckers.
Billy likely debates calling Carlisle, the head of the coven (who genuinely would be appalled by all of this), but he doesn't trust any of these people. He assumes Edward is grooming Bella to be Dracula's Bride (he is) and that this is just a thing vampires do (it's not).
But the Tribe cannot go to war with the Cullens.
They have only one wolf at this point, Sam, who is at this point still a teenager and untried in combat. He would be fighting seven vampires alone, they would be condemning him, and the tribe itself to a massacre.
However, that they haven't come after Bella yet is perhaps a good sign. The Cullens may not want to break the treaty either (Billy doesn't realize it's just Edward out there who wants to break it).
So here's what they'll do, Bella will "rekindle" her friendship with Jacob. She'll come over every single day, immediately after school with no exceptions, and will live at their house every weekend.
No exceptions.
The Cullens cannot enter Quileute land and, if they do... Well then, I guess they prepare for war.
Jake is ecstatic, though weirded out, as Bella suddenly practically lives at his house. They get along very well and soon their friendship is formed. Jake keeps trying to date her though and Bella's not very interested.
As for Leah... Sorry anon, but Leah is at the most miserable point in her miserable life. She's been dumped by Sam for her cousin and she has no idea why this has happened and Sam offers no explanations. She's a ball of rage and misery and has no time for Jacob Black's jittery girlfriend from Forks.
Meanwhile Edward is becoming annoyed.
He accepts the explanation that Bella and Jake are childhood friends, that she knew his sisters growing up, and that they've struck up their friendship again but... He doesn't like it.
He goes from imagining Mike Newton's head exploding to Jacob Black's head exploding.
Every day he curses that treaty and thinks it's so damn convenient that Bella keeps running off to the one place he can't follow.
He sits and he seethes.
...
And I stop here.
Wherever this path leads, anon, it is not one we should follow.
