Hi all -- let me introduce you to my potential Tiny Fandom Town lot! I made this a few weeks ago so I 'd have it ready if and when I do the challenge, and I figured I'd share it with all of you. :) Let me take you through all the Pertinent Points --

-->The lot was built on the 64x64 lot on the Crumbling Isle neighborhood in Windenburg, where the Villareal family normally lives (the "Von-Windenburg Estate" lot). I wanted to do the challenge in Windenburg as I rarely actually play in that neighborhood, and, as I have stated in previous posts on this subject, I enjoy the idea of building up the whole island via Community Space lots as the town grows and evolves. :)

-->Also as per previous posts, the lot has the Lot Challenges Off The Grid, Reduce & Recycle, Simple Living, Creepy Crawlies, Wild Foxes, and Wild Prairie Grass to help represent that this is an entirely new and undeveloped bit of land, not hooked up to any municipal power or water and still under the control of nature. However, it does also have the Lot Traits of Natural Well, Geothermal, and Sunny Aspect -- the first two to help offset the pains that being "off the grid" brings (they help boost water gathering and power production, respectively), the last because -- well, the lot IS situated on a very scenic bit of the island, so it's no wonder the sunset would make Sims happy, inspired, or energized. :)

-->As you can see, the lot is divided into seven mini-lots, arranged in a rough horseshoe shape and marked with terrain paint and a bit of Werewolf raggedy fencing at each corner. Each lot comes with a little natural stick lamp for nighttime lighting; a pee/woohoo bush; a tent; and a cooler. Basically the absolute basics a roughing-it Sim needs to survive. Beside the very first lot in the horseshoe on the left, I have also set up a wash basin and clothesline, because I would like to force the Sims living here to deal with laundry on top of everything else. Because why not, you know? :p

-->The whole thing costs roughly $18,166! Because I really wanted it to actually be under the $20K starter home price so that a Sim fresh from CAS could purchase it and still have a little money left over to get the stuff they'd need for their first skill. No "free real estate" cheat needed here!

Introducing the High Flier Exchange!

The High Flier Exchange will run in early 2025 (prompts out in January, deadline in March or April). It will be a multifandom exchange involving fanworks about anyone who can fly (in a plane, by themselves, via spiderwebs, in air or in space. You get the idea. Hey, don't knock our theme, we're trying our best here). You'll receive your prompts at least 2 months in advance to give you plenty of time to write/draw/create something your giftee will love.

Please fill out the survey if you are interested in participating! The main purpose of this survey is gauging how many people from each fandom want to participate and what types of works you all want to create.

This is a survey, not a signup -- it's non-binding. So if you aren't sure if you'll be able to take part, go ahead and fill it out anyway. If you have any questions, check out the FAQ below, then drop a line in our ask box or reach out via DM.

Currently, we have options for fanfic and fanart, but if you have other ideas, please write them in the "other" option! (Fanvids, anyone?)

What if I'm only interested in writing/drawing/making something for [Ship A] in [Fandom B]?

The exchange is multifandom, but your participation doesn’t have to be. You can absolutely select one fandom or ship and only write for that ship. You do NOT have to interact with other fandoms/ships, although you are obviously welcome to do so!

Are crossovers allowed?

If you are interested in creating or requesting crossover works, please select all fandoms involved in your potential crossover.

What's a fandom exchange?

A gift exchange (or just exchange) is a type of challenge in which participants create fanworks to give to one another. Check out the Fanlore page on gift exchanges for more info.

Smash The Champagne Bottle is a low-pressure multifandom challenge to write the first fic for a ship in a fandom! Launching a ship on the seas has always been accompanied by ceremony, and our name comes from the tradition of smashing a bottle of champagne across the bow of a newly laid ship as the hull slides out of dry dock into the sea.

Hello and welcome to Tropetember 2024!!

Tropetember is a multifandom event celebrating everyone’s favourite fanfic tropes, held during the month of September. There will be a trope prompt for each day of the month, but this is only a guide - feel free to choose any of the tropes as you wish.

This year, we again have a “Hard Mode” list for anyone that needs or wants more specific prompts to fill!

From the beginning of September, we will be accepting submissions to this blog for fanworks tagged with ‘tropetember’ and ‘R-tropetember’ (for works with adult content). To place a submission, you should click on the submission button under the blog title. This will mean that we post your work directly from the main Tropetember blog. Make sure to TAG APPROPRIATELY on the submissions box.

If you create your own post and want us to reblog it instead, you must @ us in the main body of the post (@tropetember) - we are not able to monitor the #tropetember tag. 

All entries should either contain a link to a fanfiction site where your work is posted (eg. AO3), or the text/body of your work, as well as the trope/prompt used.

We have also opened an AO3 collection titled ‘Tropetember 2024’ into which you can post your work. When you go to post a new work in AO3, there will be a section that says ‘Post to Collections / Challenges’. In the field next to it, type 'Tropetember’ and it should pop up. Make sure to submit it to this year’s collection!

This event is intended to be a minor-accessible companion to Kinktober. NS/ FW content is welcome, but we want this to be a safe event for minors too, so we ask that any content rated M or E be tagged 'R-tropetember’ so that everyone can curate their experience. Content that might be considered sensitive and/or controversial should also be tagged as 'R-tropetember’ along with any other relevant warnings.

We’re releasing the prompts early below so that authors, artists and other fan creators can make a head start, but we will not be posting any submissions before September starts. (If we miss your submissions to the blog and a few days have passed, feel free to @ us or send an ask to let us know!) At the time of this post the Tropetember 2024 AO3 collection is already open and you can submit your work there.

Narcovember Prompt Roulette List

Saalud a mi gente! We in the Narcos Fandom Forever discord server are excited to bring another 30-day challenge: a multifandom event that we’re nevertheless calling Narcovember. Despite its name, this is open to ALL FANDOMS, NOT JUST NARCOS. Creators are encouraged to submit fanworks (fic, art, gifs, vids, op-eds) for any fandom your heart desires!

This event's format is a bit unconventional. Instead of a prompt for each day of the month, there's a Prompt Roulette Wheel and a Prompt Index (☟ below) featuring numbered items with three prompts each. Every day you'll spin the wheel. The number that comes up on the spin corresponds to a number on the index where you can then pick one of the three prompts.

So for example, say on day one, I spin the wheel and get number 8. I’d go to 8 on the index (titled These Damn Restraints). Of those three prompts, I like Yikes best so that's my day one prompt. Next day, I spin and get 14. I find 14 on the index (Decisions, Decisions, Decisions) and pick one of those for day two's prompt. And so on. Note: If, on Day 2, instead of 14 I got 8 again, I’d spin the wheel again to get a new number. If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to spin twice, you can choose another prompt from that "Book of" that you haven't used (e.g. Day 1, I chose Yikes. So Day 2, I’d go for, "Now you know why I never say anything.") Ideally, we think it’s more fun to not repeat index items, but ultimately it’s dealer’s choice. Aka we're not about to get real fascist policing, aint nobody got time for that.

A Quick Update

Hey Everyone!✨🪻

So excited to see all the responses to the Big Bang relaunch!! We've had such a great round of first sign ups (open until Feb 28th!!) - can't wait to see what everyone creates. :)

Just to note, if you think a 10k writing project is intimidating, we also have monthly challenge prompts with 1k word counts (or 1 art piece) too, running from February to November. You don't need to sign up to the big bang to get involved with those.

Regarding art, this is also a totally separate track to writing - since we're a multifandom event, art creators aren't going to have to be bound to creating art for a fic like a traditional big bang.

Another reminder we have a Discord community too, which you can join either by signing up to the big bang (not required for participation btw), or requesting a link via ask/reply.

Hi friends, you seem like the right people to ask? I really want to be more active in the BtVS fandom, do you know of any active communities, like discord servers I could join? I’m trying to find fannish events, fests, fanfic prompts etc but Tumblr search has been wildly unhelpful.

For Discord servers specifically, you can look in our "Discord" tag on sunnydale-digest. I see that some of those invites are expired, so you may have to contact the people who posted them - unless someone reading this post wants to hook you up with fresh Discord invites? We're set for the Buffyverse Discord Server and the Buffy/Giles and Buffy Femslash ones (these can be joined with no extra help by scrolling down the "Discord" tag to 2020).

For other communities and events, you can look in our "Announcement" tag (this will cover ones promoted or run on tumblr) or go to @sunnydaleherald and look in the [Community Announcements] section of individual newsletter posts. Not every sunnydaleherald post has Community Announcements, but the upside is the Herald covers all events we know of, not only those that have tumblr posts attached to them. Note that quite a few events recur yearly, so if you want to find out about all of them now, you'd have to scroll back a year or hope someone enlightens you in the replies of this post. Of course, you could alternatively keep track of new announcements using sunnydale-digest or sunnydaleherald and find new/recurring events as they come up in the future.

You could also join a forum or a subreddit. There's BuffyForums, Buffy-Boards, r/buffy and r/ANGEL to name the most active ones that come to mind. Reddit has a bad reputation which is partially deserved, but I feel like the Buffyverse subreddits have really blossomed in the past few years. There's not only active discussion but a bunch of art and stuff on there.

Last of all, I don't know if you're an active commenter already, but what helped me become active in the BtVS fandom was a multifandom comment challenge, so one option would be to perhaps take some inspiration from @justleaveacommentfest if that helps (it's not currently running but often reblogs resources and encouragement and does run more often than the blog description makes it sound) and go to town on one or more of the archives where Buffyverse fanworks are found, such as archiveofourown.org, dark-solace.org/elysian, fanfiction.net, sunnydaleafterdark.com, tthfanfic.org or westofthestorm.com (presented alphabetically). If you'd like some recs to help you choose works to read / look at, I highly recommend checking out Buffyverse Top 5 on Dreamwidth, and for newer works we have a fic rec tag right here and also a "[Recs & In Search of]" section in sunnydaleherald posts.
