Okay something I wish people understood more is that folk religion and folklore is never static. It varies by region by year by storyteller. There is no Single True Canon in an oral folk tradition. Ancient Greek Religion for example was not one set thing, there is no one set version of “Greek Mythology” or Hellenic folk traditions that is correct. There are different cults that were worshipped in different regions and whose traditions changed over time, some of which had membership that was often mostly a political thing (i.e. most prominent political figures in Greece and Rome for several centuries were inducted into the Eleusinian mystery cult which worshipped Demeter and Kore) or just based in which cities worshipped which patron gods. Hesiod’s Theogeny, the Homeric Hymns, the Apollodorus, all of which are written records of tales from “Greek Mythology,” contradict each other in various ways. Most Greek and Roman plays and epics were written more in response to contemporary political situations than any adherence to a specific legend.
There is no single set canon to other folk traditions either. The body of Arthurian canon is also contradictory and was written by a variety of people across several cultures often shaped by individual political lenses.
This is Also true of the modern US equivalent of written folk tales: superhero comics canon. Written by dozens and hundreds of different people across decades responding to different sociopolitical circumstances and publishing priorities, inherently contradictory basically the whole way through.

Sebastiana, adopted daughter of Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte, Our Lady of Holy Death. She is as soothing, compassionate and protective as her mother. Character created by my friend @mythos321 for our story Protector.
This is one of my favorite designs I’ve ever made and the hardest I’ve worked on a piece in a while. I just kept wanting to add more and more to make her just right. I always take portraying the religions and mythologies my friends and I base ocs on very seriously, but I think especially for her as I’m a Methodist Christian and have been close to Christianity my entire life, as well as my mother being raised Catholic. I’m happy to actually be doing art again, I’ll be honest I’ve lost a lot of motivation in recent months and that scares me. Art is my entire life, I’ve done it seriously since I was 9 years old. I hope y’all like it!

A simple method to contact Ophiel with pen and paper.
Tumblr media
illustration courtesy of my hubby, @desdemonasarchives. One of my friends wanted to work with Arbatel's spirits without calling on God or Jesus which is somewhat ironic considering it is a...Christian grimoire but nonetheless who am I to hide the light under the bushel(Matthew 5:15) right? I will have to put emphasis that this is only and specifically for Ophiel. His Spirits are 100000 Legions: he easily giveth Familiar Spirits: he teacheth all Arts: and he that is dignified with his Character, he maketh him to be able in a moment to convert Quicksilver into the Philosophers stone.
Tumblr media
I will first say the words as told to me by Ophiel.
sincerity of heart, Pureness of mind, Calmness of body, Write me a letter as much as you can and I will draw near to you and get closer to you. Shred to pieces in the wind, burn it, bury it, in running water, any of these works and the more you write letters to me the more I will draw near to you, inspire you, and talk to you.
note: running water as in a stream or a river if possible. That's basically it. Write them a letter, you can start it with "Dear Ophiel[his seal]...." followed by a sincere request from you to contact them, and just keep approaching them respectfully and cordially :)
Surprisingly simple method to do it :) hope it works well for you.

An attempt at conveying a historically accurate rendition of Ancient Greek music based on our knowledge of it. Music by Dimitris Athanasopoulos of the One Man's Noise channel, and arrangement by Farya Faraji.
The music is based on a recording Dimitris made, improvising on reed instruments called aulos in Antiquity. Farya Faraji added the sound of a varvitos lyre, as well as drums and cymbals.
The main melody employs the chromatic genus of Ancient Greek modality. Farya Faraji added to it a drone on the lyre and aulos that repeats the tonic, something very common within horizontal, monophonic/heterophonic traditions like that of Ancient Greece.

“The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away.” 🃏❤️
Were inspired from the Halloween posts that I & @greypetrel shared with each other, since both of us still love gothic macabre spooky stuffs & didn’t want Halloween to fully go away. ♥️🃏

The 1st card depicted the clothing that I often drew them the most:Bronze Age Cypriot-Mycenaean Greek version & Classical-Hellenistic Greek version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 2nd one depicts Aphrodite in the festive rouziettin dress that comes from Cyprus’ urban areas & its traditional rural counterpart. It bears similar to the traditional Amalia dress of mainland Greece, and a lot of traditional wedding dresses were also festive dresses, after all. For Ares, his military fustanella dress comes from the region of northern Greece (perhaps somewhere in Macedonia-Thrace since he had always been associated with the military aspects as ”the god of war” & the northern barbarians). He also wore his Pontic Greek clothing as the god himself was also mythologically associated with that area, too. (The story of the Golden Fleece came to mind, as well as Ares’ island and the Amazons, too.)
