Welcome to week two of MetalGreyMonth. The month where I talk about MetalGreymon for four weeks. Because the stockpile was the right size. Anyway-

When I went over my top 10 favorite Digimon, MetalGreymon X Virus was pretty high up the list, so when they revealed that the Amplified version was going to come with the parts to do X's Alteros with the rotating claw, I felt the urge to do it in the appropriate colors.

The Details: A lot of the changes here are pretty obvious, such as the blue skin and purple stripes, but there are a few more subtle details, all of which were done to emulate X Virus' colors. The gold horns, a lot of the added metallic blue, the red and blue piping, the silver teeth and nails.

Some things I should probably bring more attention to are the purple marks on the silver, which were put there to represent some of X Virus' purple metal parts. The purple and gold on the chest is also supposed to emulate the cannon that's usually there. The silver knees and feet are meant to copy its metal plating in those locations. And the wings are done in silver and pink to mimic the jets and flames usually there. I wanted to do something with the actual stickers there, but my tests didn't go that well, so I just went with them as is.

Overall, this was a really fun custom to work on. I haven't recolored a kit into an existing color scheme in quite a few years. This might also be the largest custom I've done to date. It's excellent practice for my next big custom project, but we'll hopefully get to that later in MetalGreyMonth...

Just like with the X1s, Tyrannomon X's best-care evolution is Metal Greymon X, this time obviously being the Virus one, and hoooly shit what a complete BANGER of a design.

My favorite part has got to be their arm-cannon, only visible in its attack animation. Like, just LOOK at it! The spriting on it just looks so damn pleasing to look at.

And of course, you can't have a Metal Greymon without a War Greymon. I'm pretty sure this is straight up just a recolor of War Greymon X, down to the closeup sprite being the same aside from its eyes I think? Regardless, I still think this dudes pretty damn cool.

I'm gonna try and get her through Area Special when I get the chance, but I might be occupied with other things, I'll see how it goes.

Member of Team STRQ, Taiyang is a kinda hearts and self proclaim, comedian. Always trying to raise people spirits with jokes. Though sometimes can come off as insensitive. Taiyang randomly found a weird device in his Teammate Summer's Room, and something told him to take. Later while out he found an injured creature, and took it back to his room using the same device to heal it's wound.

Though not everything is know about Agumon as he doesn't like talking about his time in the digital world or why he was near death in the forest. All he's stated is thar he came ro remant of his own free will in hope things would be better for him.

A best of 3 that made it to all 3 matches! Metal Greymon X continued his winning streak at the start, but lost the second battle after a close fight! Were Garurumon X had a decisive victory for the final battle though, frustrating their rival but pleasing themselves! The Digimon from the dark area need to catch up and we will have a tournament for strongest ultimate Digimon!

With each of these sets released, I wanted to compare them again.

Like I've mentioned before, EX-03 Draconic Roar, EX-05 Animal Colosseum, and EX-06 Infernal Ascension are based on the Pendulum Progress vpets from 2002. Animal Coloseum kept the name as is, Draconic Roar was Dragon's Roar, and Infernal Ascension replaced the name Armageddon Army. (A very understandable name change)

A large percentage of the Digimon featured in the Pendulum Progress versions were included in the respective card sets. Many of those who weren't included had similar replacements.

As the name suggests, Draconic Roar included many Digimon related to dragons. Since many main character Digimon fall into that category, frequently featured Digimon such as the Greymon line were exluded. This set's Agumon is yellow and the suggested line goes to Veedramon and AeroVeedramon, reminiscent of the V-Tamer manga. Veemon is red in this set, and instead of the usual Ex-Veemon we get Fladramon, along with purple Wormmon and Shadramon, going into a dark Imperialdramon line. Instead of Tyrannomon and MetalTyrannomon, we have DarkTyrannomon and ExTyrannomon too. This set also featured many dragon Digimon that have debuted since the Pendulum Progress, such as Dracomon and its two lines, and the Vorvomon and Jazamon lines from Digimon Links.

The Pendulum Progress Animal Colosseum contains many beast Digimon, notably the Four Sovereigns. The card set expanded on that and not only included the Four Sovereigns, but also their leader Fanglongmon, as well as all 12 Deva serving under them. Like the vpet, this set also featured many X Antibody Digimon, although many of them were switched in the card set. Such as Leomon being included instead of Leomon X, or Dobermon X instead of Dobermon. We also got the card debut of Lunamon and Coronamon and their respective lines, as well as the player chatacters from their debut games Digimon Dusk/Moonlight and Dawn/Sunburst!

Infernal Ascension has a dual theme of Angels and Demons. While the Pendulum Progress included all Three Great Angel, there was only room for two Demon Lords. For the card set all Seven Great Demon Lords got featured (and also received matching alt arts!) Many of the replacements also make sense. Instead of Terriermon and Siesamon we got Lopmon and Turuiemon leading into Antylamon. While Tsukaimon works as a replacement of Patamon in style, it isn't in the Angel lines. The role is instead filled by Luxmon, a very recent addition to the Digimon franchise. Same goes for ArkhaiAngemon taking MagnaAngemon's spot, and Dominimon finally getting recognition! The addition of Mastemon is just perfect for this set too. We also get some holy-themed Digimon from the chinese game New Century for the first time!

So yeah

I just think it's fun to look at these Theme Boosters and compare what they kept, what they changed, and what they expanded upon. Goes to show how much our list of Digimon has grown in the last 20 years!

Greetings! So I've just finished Digimon 02TB and I need to discuss it with someone with legit opinions lmao. So the thing is: how do you tackle the apparent continuity disagreement that Ukkomon claimed he created the Chosen kids when there's lore established since the 1st Adventure that there was a group of Chosen kids (Maki Himekawa's group) before Taichi's group? I'm looking for possible Watsonian explanations since simply saying "it's a plothole / retcon" doesn't satisfy me 😁 So far I got these ideas, feel free to elaborate on them or give some new ones:

First, there's a possbility that Ukkomon was lying (I love how many plot holes can be simply explained by "character X was lying) and didn't actually create the Chosen kids - he just introduced them as Lui's "friends" to make Lui happy. BUT then, if Ukkomon didn't create them, why did the digivices disappear after Lui un-did his wish and BigUkkomon was defeated? Second, maybe when Lui claimed he's the first person to ever bond with a Digimon, he meant "the first person to bond with a Digimon without some divine intervention and/or a mission they were chosen to fulfill", which technically makes him the first Tamer instead of a Chosen child. Daisuke & co. calling him a "Chosen child" was therefore just a misunderstanding Lui didn't correct since he couldn't tell the difference.

Ooooooh boy! I still remember how much my head was rushing when I had watched the movie in cinemas back on launch day and I simply couldn't get home fast enough to write down all my thoughts. I had compiled it all back then here and I believe it already summarizes everything you've been asking and talking about, but I'll still try to put it together again shortly.

First of all, @jamesthedigidestined are currently still trying our best to make sense of the current timeline and the order of when which Chosen Child (or generally "humans partnering with Digimon") came into existence, so I still hope he will post his own ideas himself soon!

However - my theory back then and also today is what you already outlined:

Homeostasis does not have a physical form, so it created its agents like Gennai - and PROBABLY Ukkomon too. Since we know the Digital World has “wish granting” abilities, I can accept there being a singular being that is capable of doing the same thing. So then, a Digiegg gets into the real world in 1995, and Homeostasis gets to scan Hikari, Taichi and the others, discovering the potential they have - since Hikari is the child that enables the hatched Botamon to evolve into Greymon super quickly, Homeostasis sends Parrotmon to retrieve it. Afterwards, in 1996, Ukkomon “would appear who had special connections with [a child] in the real world”. And thus, Rui’s wish was the indirect catalysator of the foundation of the “partnership system”. Basically, Ukkomon’s wish fulfillment powers enabled a system based on the limitless potential (of wishes and the bond between humans and Digimon) that was deemed useful by Homeostasis for the sake of saving the world(s). A system that wasn’t in place like this before, so Rui was basically some kind of “prototype” - as was Ukkomon, kinda testing the waters of partnerships in the first place. And through analyzing the other 8 kids in the meantime, their potential had been discovered, which is why THEY also had Crests created for themselves. Like Ukkomon said - they came into existence to “protect” him, so he wouldn’t have to save the worlds himself. And so would Daigo, Maki and the others between 1996 and 1999 (including Wallace, though we need to still figure out where exactly he fits in there).

On a different note, I like the idea of treating Ukkomon like Menoa in the way of her being an unreliable narrator that led to the whole “adulthood vs. neglect theory” in the first place. So Ukkomon may actually NOT even be aware that Rui WASN’T the first Chosen Child because, either it really didn’t know or was manipulated by Homeostasis to claim that it’s true. The reasoning behind that could be interesting to look at too… Long story short: Never take anything in Digimon at face value!!!

Plus, me and James are also a fan of the idea that Rui was just "a child with a Digimon partner" and NOT a Chosen Child. Again, he has outlined this way better than I have, coming up with different groups of Digimon to be partnered with humans!

Plus, I still think of Rui as an unreliable narrator too, because they're all just speculating about the Digivice origin, even though there has been clear lore for it in the back...

Done here are the characters that inspired me and the person that made this meme. Their name is in the pic. These characters inspired me growing up as a child. Some of them started off as bad guys but turns out becoming heroes as they grow and they experienced bad events negative events but they keep on growing regardless of their past. It doesn’t divine them who they are as they grow more they let it drag them down they try and try as they grow and develop as a character and a person in each in their own way and get through their own personal struggles as with help of others around them even though it’s hard to open to those they know. each of us has a Dark Dilemma and struggles of the past we each have to overcome same with self doubt and anger. and these characters are a great example of these things. wish is why i picked them for lexamus :)

Figure-Rise Amplified X 30MM MailBirdramon/MetalGreymon (2010 Anime Version) Custom

This was probably the most ambition custom project I've ever worked on. Not only was MailBirdrampn enormous, but it was a mix of multiple kits and was a lot of fusing of parts through glue, not just natural connection points. It was a very long process to paint, too. But I'm glad I did it, and I'm happy it turned out so well.

The Details: So the composition of MailBirdramon is made primarily of three 30MM kits; the Provedel, the Cannon Bike, and the Tiltrotor, along with an assembly of other random pieces I had in my big basement bin. Also, just like I used the Lfrith's shoulders for Greymon's headphones, I used the Lfrith's hips as MailBirdramon's. The only other non-30MM piece I used was I cut up the claw arm from the MetalGreymon kit I made Greymon 2010 out of and used that for the front of the mask.

As for colors, I used the navy I had from color matching for Cyberdramon (who I have not reviewed yet), as well as black, red, and gunmetal. There was also some of Greymon's blue used on the large sub-arm that holds the claw for continuity. Specifically for MailBirdramon's face, since the Cannon Bike has a translucent windscreen, I painted the underside to keep the sheen, and the used the natural grooves to paint the eyes on top.

For the combination, the mask rests on the head, but there are some grooves the sit snugly inside Greymon's headphones. The neck plugs into the tail via a port I added to Greymon when I was building it. I added a small piece to Greymon's chest in between builds to accommodate the chest plate. As for the backpack and arm, I changed things up so the claw arm attaches to the backpack instead of covering the natural arm, and the backpack attaches to the back via two repurposed ball joints from MetalGreymon's wings.

Overall, again, very happy with how this turned out. Not sure if I'm going to do Deckerdramon or my own WaruMonzaemon in the future, but I don't have any plans to at the moment. I've also been so preoccupied with customs recently that my straight builds have been piling up, so I plan on getting through a bunch of those before I move onto my next one.

Of course I say that, but if an Avalanche Exia or a Beginning 30 shows up at my door, I might be tempted to work on some of my theoretical Build Divers Super stuff.

Getting back to business!

During this week, I've been working with Tyutyumon on helping Andromon and MegaloGrowmon evolve, since Tyutyumon has a lot more means and knowledge than me on the field of upgrading mechanical Digimon.

Recently, some digimon have been discovered through an investigation some hackers have been pulling up since 2020, this investigation has given us some new information before, like the existence of an X-Antibody variant of the Virus-Type Greymon, however, this time, this investigation reached a server of the Digital World dubbed LACUNA, a it's unknown when or why this place was created, but inside it, new species like the the Pteromon and Shoemon lines, digimon that I've encountered before but didn't know where technically imported from this LACUNA place. What does this have to do with my digimon you ask? Well, a new digimon line has been found, related to Impmon and Guilmon, it's some kind of adaptation of the Guilmon line that has been affected by the data of punk-rock culture, one of this digimon is a Perfect level called Loudmon, that reminisces MegaloGrowmon, and Tyutyumon and I have speculated that if MegaloGrowmon can slide evolve between the two perfect stages it could help him evolve into Ultimate faster! Kinda like what Helloogarmon did, sliding from said digimon to Soloogarmon when the situation required it, tho due to the similarities between MegaloGrowmon and Loudmon I think this hypothetical slide evolution could be more of a power diversification than an actual field advantage, like the first two.

On Andromon's side his evolutionary path has already been decided by Tyutyumon, HiAndromon is the best option to evolve into, since it is a more advanced and powerful version of the Andromon we all know.

Regarding my less mechanical digimon, they've been training in case something happens with the army, they've been awfully quiet lately and I speculate that it may be due to a plan they could be arranging, the other four people I know that breed digimon could help get me some information, specifically Bit, who I recently discovered, lives near her city's equivalent to The Fourth Brigade, the place that leads the military in my city.

I won't ask her to charge at them for no reason, since her digimon aren't used to fighting, but any help she can provide is more than useful. In the meantime, I'll start helping Canoweissmon with his training, he's been giving everything he has to become stronger along with Rasenmon and the rest! I'll help them once I'm done running the last tests Tyutyumon and I have to do on MegaloGrowmon to see if he can start slide evolving, which we'll do tomorrow in the morning!

Lastly I've also got some personal news.

I got into college! I was accepted a few days ago and tomorrow I'll do all the legal stuff I have to do to have my info in order before I enter, I'll do everything after I'm done with MegaloGrowmon's tests. I'll start classes in August, but fear not, my schedule for doing digimon related stuff will still suck, so the blog will probably be unaffected by this, it'll even get better I'd say since there's a chance more Tamers wander around my campus! So I'll maybe get some more people to run these errands with!, but only time will tell!

And even once I'm done with college, I'll keep you updated!
