Everlark Fic Drop: Us Among the Living

hi y'all! it's been a longgg time coming but i'm so excited to share my first fic in over 10 years (and my first thg fic ever)!

Us Among the Living is a canon-compliant, pre-epilogue growing together fic exploring Katniss and Peeta's relationship as well as their lives in District 12 in the months following the second rebellion. it's gonna be long, it's gonna be a slow burn, and according to @everdares and @belikov, it's gonna cause tears.

i am on temporary hiatus due to personal reasons. however, when i return i will update as much as possible. i hope y'all enjoy <3

Mint: In the past year that you have been with Apo quite a lot, have you seen any changes in each other?

Mile: Apo changed a lot. The most distinct is his mindset and the way he expresses. He balances his identity to the society much better, listens more without chipping away at himself, adapts himself better where before was already okay, but now it's more okay in another way. In BOC, everyone is better, no one has changed for the worse which is a good thing.

So it begins. My new journey. My Camino. To discover more of who I am and what I want to become. To remove my mind from the restraints of life's box and just shout. Let it be free. To feel or discuss what it wants. To surround my soul with like minded souls. To write about my observations no matter how dark. To let my soul speak out on subjects my body would not dare. My disappointments, my excitements and my sexual beliefs and desires.

I believe we all have a soul. It makes us who we are and what we think. A soul wants to learn, wants to create and demands to grow. But I believe it is wasted on most people. People hold back their souls. They neglect it, let it rot until it slowly dies due to its lack of exposure to culture, creativity, excitement and sexual pleasures. That person is just a body. The world is closed to them. They miss and cannot see what a soul can see. They cannot feel how a soul can feel because they have given up trying to feel. Instead they have surrounded themselves with other bodies who have also let their soul burn out and so they take comfort in never having to think differently.

Unfortunately there are a lot more bodies in the world than souls.

From today I will let mine grow more than I ever imagined it could and find more souls in a world of bodies.

it's the end of part 2: surviving!! we're 120 THOUSAND words and two-thirds of the way through this fic. if you've made it this far, i'm SO grateful to you for your comments and asks and messages and kudos and reblogs and support. i've made so many amazing friends from this fic. special thanks to @everdares for being the absolute best beta reader, cheerleader, and friend i could ask for. with that said, i wanted to let y'all know that i'm going to take a few weeks off before i post part the last nine chapters. don't worry, i'm still unhealthily obsessed with thg and everlark and have WAYYY too much time on my hands to write before i start law school. everything is either written or outlined in detail. i just am going on vacation and won't have much time to do my usual quality checks before posting! UATL will be back following this brief hiatus soon after reaping day...

part 3: living will be the everlarkiest of all the parts. there will be romance, pining, and, ofc (sfw) steaminess. it's got some of my favorite moments that i can't WAIT to share with y'all!!

THE PATH OF THE ROSE

I can’t tell you what road will lead to your understanding. Netivot means “a personal path.” It’s not a public road. There is no mystical superhighway that leads one into the mysteries. It could be dharma, the tao, evangelical restriction from the world; any number of paths could lead you into Divine Union.

The Path of the Rose is a personal unfolding of the heart space where the Christ in me smiles at the Christ in you. And you. And you. Who can say what that will look like for anyone else?

All we know for certain is we’re here together. Why not live in love with one another? That’s what the sages seem to be urging us to do.

You are loved. The source of that love wears many names. It’s unfolding within you as we speak. Ultimately… That is all that matters.
