I don’t know any of the fancy names yet, so bare with me.

So far I’ve got Jaune and Pyrrha, definitely. And Ren and Nora, but that one seems like it’s a given.

I do really like Blake and Sun, but that’s more as a friend thing than anything else. And the same with Weiss and Ruby.

I’m not sure about Yang yet. She hasn’t really had any personal moments with...well with anyone really.

what people don't understand is that abuse victims react to abuse in different ways. not everyone who was abused ends up being a perfect little angel. it's called the cycle of abuse for a reason. arryn actually brings up a good point in v4 that blake's abuse shows in her treatment of sun. many times people who are abused end up acting like whitley (resentfu of weiss/winterl) or blake (toxic) to others. the goal is to eventually rise up above the cycle of abuse. abuse victims can be boys too.

i honestly don’t know what it is with this site and fndm’s aversion to acknowledging the very real truth that abusers have often been abused themselves. that abuse victims can in turn become abusers if they don’t grow and evolve past the abuse and unhealthy coping mechanisms done unto them. no one’s actions should be excused because they were once an abuse victim and painting everyone who criticizes abuse victims as abuse apologists is just wholly false.

whitley mimicked his father’s cadences and put his hurt feelings onto weiss when she lost her heiress title. that was wrong but understandablein the fact that he hadn’t learnt better coping mechanisms. blake mimicked adam’s abuse on her when she slapped sun multiple times and verbally berated him solely because she was angry. that was also wrong, but understandable in the fact that she hadn’t learnt better coping mechanisms.

both of these instances are understandable in the scope of them both being abuse victims. however, only one is consistently excused to the point that the victim is in fact blamed for being slapped. and it sure isn’t the one with the penis lmao. also the two actions are a world apart considering all whitley had was snide words while blake escalated to physical violence.

ok, positives first. team rwby’s fight against the ace ops was SPECTACULAR. i loved basically every second of it, that song slapped SO hard.  ruby’s stone cold one-liner at the start, and then the bumbleby teamwork….ladies we LOVE to see it! and weiss winning her first 1v1, i’m so proud of her!!! that was all excellent tbh. and i’m glad pietro and maria are back, they’ve been out of the spotlight for a real hot sec so it’s great to see them again

same with penny and winter’s conversations!!! those were incredible to watch, i enjoyed their interactions immensely.  i’m fairly worried about cinder being there, now, but so long as crwby doesn’t choke again, the resolution to that should be okay; interesting, if nothing else (the idea that penny could become the winter maiden is very intriguing to me).  same with jnor vs. neo - i’m so happy oscar is safe, though still worried about how this fight will go. still, not too worried though. especially if blake and yang are en route to give them backup

and then, there’s…all that.

all of the choices qrow and clover made in this episode were wack as FUCK. clover siding with ironwood? wack (though, admittedly, fairly in-character. i hate to say it, but, well. there it is. still wack tho). all three of them fighting and letting tyrian crash the ship? wack. clover ditching all of them to leap out of the ship to safety alone? wack. clover trying to fight and detain qrow despite tyrian being lose??? wack. qrow teaming up with TYRIAN of all people?? wack. tyrian fucking killing clover with harbinger, thus framing qrow for it, before escaping???? clover fucking DYING?????? WACK AS ALL FUCK.

honestly, i’m just…disappointed. it hurts so much,for so many reasons, to see this happen again - as someone who struggles with depression, as someone who’s gay, as someone who made this entire sideblog out of pure excitement re: what seemed to be rwby’s first mlm pairing.  i don’t think this was properly lead up to, in any way, shape, or form. everything with clover and qrow in this episode felt like it came out of nowhere. makes me wanna know what the fuck the writers were smoking when they did All That tbh. it honestly still just feels like a bad dream.

and where the hell are they gonna go with qrow from here, anyways? he may have hit rock bottom in v6, but this? this is the worst mental state we’ve ever seen him in, bar none. the first time we’ve seen him cry, the first time we’ve seen him lose someone he’s close to, and in such a brutal way, with his own weapon… honestly, the only thing i can think to say is: crwby, what the actual fuck? he was doing so well, he was getting better, and now this? why?? it just… hurts to see.

so, yeah. i won’t go on and on, but suffice to say, i’m really fucking disappointed. will i stop watching rwby? no, i don’t think so. has the crwby/roosterteeth lost a ridiculous amount of my trust? absolutely.

i literally love you. i tried reading the sr theory but it was just loaded with implicit kairi hate and obvious bias towards removing her importance from the story. i appreciate you debunking parts of it, even though i know you don't have to. thanak you! ♥

Oh, you’re welcome! I get why a LOT of people have a hard time sitting through this thing. And the Kairi stuff is just ridiculous

The writers claim that they gave her “a bigger role” and to an extent they’re right, I suppose, since apparently now all of her actions have a big-picture “justification.” But what they don’t seem to realize is that that “bigger role” came at the cost of Kairi’s agency as a character and that is not a good way to treat one of, like, five female characters that you have

They constantly ascribe things that Kairi did in the game out of her own choice to other characters. Kairi using her powers to save Sora, the person she holds dearest because she loves and cares for him and would do anything to protect him? Nah, that was Riku’s True Love Sacrifice combined with the power of the Princesses of Heart. So Kairi only takes up 1/8th of saving Sora at best and it was still Riku who started it

Kairi makes the first move towards a romantic relationship with Sora by suggesting that they share the paopu (which she knows Sora’s thought of, because let’s not forget that he’s the one who drew them sharing it first and now she’s letting him know she reciprocates)? Either that’s secretly a plot by Xehanort to draw Sora deeper in (which is the interpretation they usually go with since they keep insisting that she didn’t eat the fruit even though that makes NO sense. If she doesn’t eat it the paopu magic doesn’t work so her not eating it accomplishes literally nothing, but I digress) or a Chirithy Kairi, who isn’t really Kairi because Kairi was the Darkside that you had to destroy to swap worldlines in the first place

They gave her a “bigger role,” but “bigger” doesn’t mean better for the character. Unless that bigger role has bigger agency for the character, it actually benefits other characters more than the one you’ve expanded the role of. You’re putting the impetus of her actions on them, which means that anything she does can’t be credited to her, but to other characters who were manipulating her. You’d never say that a good decision made using a pawn was the pawn’s decision, would you? No, you’d say that the good decision was made by the chess player who moved the pawn

And that’s what I don’t think the theory writers understand about their “improved” Kairi. They damseled her harder than even Nomura did and used her development to improve the narrative importance of other characters while reducing her to a piece to be moved around by her “more powerful” male co-stars. That’s why this theory is considered Kairi hate. She’s not the person who saves Sora so that he can save everyone else, which is so pivotal to the story. Instead, her role in the SR Theory could be done by conceivably anyone and it would make no difference. It’s not based on anything inherent to Kairi. And it’s inconsistent and extremely bad writing

But what did anyone expect from people who claim that she’s gonna be dropped from the trio at some point in the series?
