I feel like season 2 Izzy is on exactly this journey and it proves to me that I only ever like one kind of character (hopeless romantics in love with the wrong person, who know how to break your bones but also look good in glitter).
okay we all have different ideas of what class we want hermie to be. but here me out: the most INEFFECTIVE minmaxer EVER. he gets a single level in every class, reflecting the character he takes on.
I was gonna make a post saying 'Gotham Riddler walked so Harley Quinn Riddler could run' about the gay rep but that's not even really true. Gotham Riddler fucking bashed his own knees in. Gotham the show beat itself to a pulp before it treated the queer relationships right.
I loved Loki S2. I loved The Marvels. I mean that very genuinely, without an ounce of sarcasm—I hope people support both these projects.
But at the same time. (Without major spoilers.)
I just got out of The Marvels. I just watched the Loki finale this week. And I cannot shake the feeling that I’ve had enough queerbaiting from the Marvel Cinematic Universe this month alone to last me my entire life
So I just have to ask… what the FUCK is going on in Harley Quinn Season 3?
We are 4 episodes in and it’s a mess.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy the ride. Hell, I nearly had an asthma attack in episode 4 when Bruce “the Batman” Wayne started dressing cats up as his parents and SINGING.
But where are we heading?
It just feels a tad directionless right now and idfk what they are on with the Wayne family.
peacemaker? our flag means death? the batman? heartstopper? everything everywhere all at once? the owl house s2? thor 4? wwdits s4? harley quinn s3 ? a league of their own? the sandman?
Hey yeah so this had nothing to do with it being a queer show. 'Harley Quinn' has had her in a very sexual very queer relationship with Poison Ivy since season 2. Other streamers and companies are specifically writing films and greenlighting series that court a queer audience. Our Flag was centered on its queerness from the pitch and GREW its audience based on its queer story as much as they tried to hide it throughout the first season's God awful marketing.
This has everything to do with Max being fucking criminals who chew up and spit out creatives in a montage of meaningless churn, while not allowing a show to grow or develop. Seeing this show's audience actively grow during the S2 airing but then accusing it of not 'maintaining' said audience despite being made on a binge model of as few episodes as possible. Just like all streaming services, except they're also the only company I've seen that actively sets it on fire for the insurance money and I have no doubt some of the animated properties they pushed got their pilots leaked last year specifically so Max couldn't fuck them over for a tax write-off the way they fucked over several fully completed movies.
I resented every second I had to pretend to care about what Max did in hope Our Flag could make it one single season longer (when their execs already destroyed its budget), and now I'm glad they will probably go bankrupt and/or to jail since they're under the microscope for their bullshit. Modern streaming is a cancer.
