CW: nothing, maybe a few suggestive jokes but everything is generally SFW :3 i’m super sleepy and writing this at 1am so bare with me when it comes to spelling and grammar :’)

Billy takes a lot of selfies, especially when on missions, and sends them to you. You don’t know what made him start doing this, but you save each and every one of them and you make sure to drop whatever you’re doing to ask him about it.

Billy is on the spectrum. Don’t ask me the logistics of it, yes he’s sophisticated AI, but hear me out! Though you like to indulge in some childhood nostalgia, you aren’t particularly fixated on watching just one media from your childhood. However, one of the medias you watched back in the day is called Starlight Knight. As soon as you told him you enjoyed that show, he would come to you to talk about it. It wasn’t all the time, of course, but whenever conservation went dry (in person or via DMs), he’d make it a thing to talk to you about it for hours. It didn’t annoy you, not in the slightest. It made you happy to see him so happy about the children’s show, and so you entertained it as much as you could.

When Billy texts, he uses old fashioned emoticons as punctuation. Think ‘ :3 , ^_^ , o_O ’ and then replace it everywhere a period, an exclamation point, or a question mark would be. So many emoticons…

Billy loves to play video games, especially at the arcade. He invites you, and usually you tag along. When you can’t, he sends a selfie of him making a sad face. He’d probably captions it something like ‘Missing my pookie.. 💔💔’

On that same note, Billy will pick up on vocabulary you use and steal it. So if you have a habit of saying ‘pookie’ ? That’s his now. He’s using it all the time.

Billy panics easy when it comes to you. not only when it comes to safety, but also when it comes to romantic scenarios. During times you hang out with Anby and Nicole, they spill all the details of how Billy went on a rampage to find the perfect flowers, or how Billy sat in a corner all morning whining about how he didn’t find the right color outfit for you. Things along those lines!

Sortve related, but Billy gets flustered easily. Especially when you make dirty jokes, most of which aren’t really directed at him. He doesn’t get the jokes at first, but when he does understand them, he reacts in such an over the top and dramatic manner. Flailing around, gasping really loud, whining, yknow the works! One time you made a joke about ‘whimpering audios’ and he didn’t understand it. For a while too! Once he asked enough people (Anby explained it to him), he went silent and locked himself in his room for a considerable amount of time. He wasn’t sad or anything, just… shocked.

Billy isn’t human, so he doesn’t necessarily get injured in the traditional sense. One time he came back from a commission with his arm all battered up. You never seen him so down in spirits! You were able to help him, luckily, because it was only one part on his arm that was damaged that really messed up the rest of it. You kissed his hand, and immediately after inspecting your handiwork, he stuck his hand out again. “I dunno.. my arm still feels wonky. How about another kiss for good measure?”

When you’re bored, you love to dress up as Billy. Well, you’re not really dressing like him, you’re just wearing his jacket. You also like to wear the jacket with certain outfits you think it would look best with. Since your boyfriend is so tall and broad in the arms, you mostly wore it as a shoulder drape in an odd anime fashion statement. Regardless, Billy loved to see you wear it.

Earlier I mentioned Billy loves to take selfies, but I forgot to mention how most of them include you, and despite having all of those selfies of himself, half of his camera roll is you. He likes to sneak pictures of you sometimes! It’s one of his more odder behaviors, but he takes such cinematic pictures of you, even when you’re wearing the worst outfits. You didn’t know how he did it, but it’s one of the things that made the random picture taking somewhat okay.

Billy loves hugs. Don’t ask me how it works in terms of comfort. I would assume it’s the equivalent of sleeping in a car. However, Billy does have plenty of plushies thanks to you, and you use those to your advantage… so it’s not all bad :)

You asked Billy to teach you how to sling guns, and the entire tutorial sesh was just him feeling every inch of your body, memorizing and admiring how you looked. He loved you. All of you! He thought he was being sneaky, but you knew (and secretly loved it too).

Billy loves to carry you on his back and walk around. All I’m saying is, he’s got handlebars on that jacket for a reason… this has to be one of them……

Billy loves stickers. Self Explanatory!

Billy loves giving you gifts. He puts your needs over his more than he should, but luckily you’re not in this relationship to take advantage of his immaturity and inexperience. You give back as much as you can.

Billy is clingy. Needed to type it out despite it being loud as hell in this list.

Billy cant cook. Not like he needs to anyways, but he wants to learn for you! So when you’re cooking, he watches close behind you and asks you every question he can think of.

Billy likes to ask why… a lot. It gets frustrating sometimes, but he genuinely wants to learn.

i see this take in my inbox a lot and it's kind of the first reaction anyone ever has when first encountering spideypool – this is almost baby's first spideypool take, sorry anon. and for me, it's broke. it's a broke take.

"this one can't die" is a horrible reason to date someone, sorry. and the durability of said partner has never been a factor in who peter parker chooses to date.

i like to think peter's drawn to wade for a reason almost entirely opposite to that - he's drawn to wade because he's dangerous, not because he's safe.

i like to think he's into wade for the same reason he's into putting on tights and getting into fights. for the excitement. not because "this one can't die." i don't think that even comes into consideration for peter. and i don't want it to come into consideration for peter. it's such a horrible, awful reason to date someone.

i don't think peter even takes any solace in wade's immortality at all. wade can still get hurt. and peter will still, instinctively, jump in the line of fire for wade. it doesn't even come as a consideration for him, to just, you know, let wade get hurt, oh, because he can heal. no!!

peter isn't smart enough for that.

he thinks with his heart, not his head.

and i don't think peter even truly believes wade is immortal. i think he's seen enough superhero bullshit in his time to know nobody is truly immortal. and i think peter having lost so many people close to him - it doesn't allow him to feel in any way secure that his lover is immortal. anyone feels immortal at the time. until they aren't.

peter worries about wade. worries how reckless wade can be - how wade doesn't seem to care about the damage he sustains because he thinks he can heal but peter - peter doesn't see it as that simple. and he knows some wounds can't heal.

i even think - just a little bit, that wade's immortality might be something that - miraculously, peter feels guilty about. i think peter feels more worried that something will happen to him – spider-man - and he'll leave wade a widow. i think that's something he'll feel bad about. it's honestly why i haven't touched the idea of peter finding out he died in civil war - he'll bug his own head so much - not about his own mortality, but how guilty he feels to have left wade with all that trauma.

so no. no! wade's immortality does not give peter solace. it keeps him up at night if he thinks about it too hard. peter can't not worry, it's chronic. and for all the reasons he should be relaxed that wade can't die, he worries about it all the more.

Would there possibly be a moment after y/n is taken to Sun when he realizes he's genuinely scaring them? Like logically they must know what he has done, and can probably imagine it too, but at one point they witness an instance of that violence/unhinged behavior and Sun has to see the same horror and fear that he must have seen a ton of times in other people's faces when they were looking at him, but never before on y/n's

hmmm okay after some hm-ing and hah-ing im going to add a little tidbit to the bleeding wires lore that i think will deepen things.

so.... im imagining that sun is not good at deciphering human emotions at first, particularly in arc1. he reads them completely differently at times. yeah he understands when harsh emotions like anger and arrogance or whatever are directed at him, but not the softer ones like adoration, kindness, etc. moon is considerably better, but sun is the one mistaking fright for awe or nervousness as anger or something. which ties into the whole thing with him avoiding his own emotions and such. can't be good at deciphering what someone else is feeling when you yourself reject all feelings and their associated labels

and so, when he starts feeling his fans go into overdrive around you, or the way he can't get you out of his mind at times... he thinks he hates you. like really hates you.

it's the opposite, of course. but he doesn't realize that. and maybe he's a bit meaner to you as a result. maybe he shows more of that superiority complex around you and it drives you away as a result. but then... with you gone... now there's just something inside of him that aches? whagt the fuck?

and yeah, he brushes it off at first, but well..... after a while of not hearing or seeing you, he can't ignore it any longer.

as a result, he gets better once he realizes that he actually has a big fat crush on you and takes more time to study his feelings and how this may be displayed on others and on himself. but it's hard bc some people show emotions in different ways, yknow? he's no expert, but the entire apocalypse definitely makes him better with deciphering fear, nerves, and guilt (since that's what he predominantly sees as, yknow, the leader of the apocalypse and all)

so when you wake up in sun's home in the celestial city, you are understandably scared and wary. you've only ever heard stories or rumors about what has happened--how sun led a robot army across your state and many others. how he was the face of the revolution and the one forming strategic plans that he sent to other robots to aid them in the takeover. there is no doubt in your mind that he has massacred thousands of people, even if you've never seen it. he has enough blood on his hands to fill an entire ocean lol. so understandably, you're nervous and avoidant around him. there's no telling when he might kill you--it could be over the smallest thing. or so you think.

in all your time at the pizzaplex, you'd only ever seen a handful of emotions on sun. and honestly? from what you see of the sun post-revolution, he's not much different. still cold, still calculative, still with that complex and arrogance and faked cheerfulness. but there's something different about him that you can't place. it scares you, though, so you try not to come into contact with him too often, sticking to your room or holding short conversations with him when he seeks you out.

(it's bloodlust, you eventually realize, way later down the line. and you do not like it one bit)

lmao i'm imagining sun being awkward and hesitant as hell, not knowing how to address you. and the fact that you're avoiding him does not help. it actually... makes him frustrated. and maybe... maybe one day he takes this out on some humans he's captured to torture some information out of them on the whereabouts of another human base.

sun never told you there's nowhere you can't go in his home. and, understandably, you are too nervous to really do anything to him/his living spaces with all the fucking cameras all over the place. your nerves don't stop you from exploring, though. if there's even the smallest chance of you spotting a means to escape, you'll take it.

and well.... your curiosity and wandering leads you further into the building. where there's a faint clanging sound in the distance. at first, you think it's a broken pipe or something. but as you get closer, you realize there's another sound associated with it.

an odd squelching. and this- this rasping that at first sounds like wind going through an odd opening. but then you realize it's not rasping--it's wheezing. gurgling, like someone on the brink of death from an open doorway to your right.

your curiosity is morbid. you peek into the room. and immediately you retch at the sight.

sun hears you--he spins around and it's like he took a dive into that fucking blood ocean he created. his smile is wide--sharp like a razor and almost manic. his hand is different--modded as it is to look like some dangerous machete. you cannot help the sudden weakness in your legs, the way you stumble back and nearly trip over yourself in your haste to get away from the thick stench of death that permeates through the air.

and--sun, after teaching himself, forcing himself, how to read emotions better on humans--comes face to face with an expression he soon realizes he never wants to see on you ever again. you've become one and the same as the very humans he's killed, and he does not like that association.

and ahhh well.... he never should have taught himself about emotions.

it wasn't worth it, in the end, being able to recognize the fear on your face (because of him, it was because of him) and the way it makes something inside him pang.

Do you ever think about the Shou and Serizawa dynamic. Because I am thinking about it. Loudly

HEAD IN HANDS. ALL THE TIME….!!!! I’ve been thinking about this ask all day I’m so glad I can answer it now.

Their Claw dynamic specifically GRHGRHR. Serizawa was recruited around the pivotal point where Shou was starting to reconsider his views on his dad/Claw as well as his own convictions/psychic power. I like to wonder if Serizawa's presence as someone Compassionate but incredibly weak-willed, unconfident, and Dependent (something that Toichiro specifically takes advantage of) partially fuelled Shou's independence/leadership/pro-activeness.

Specifically I view it as though Shou experienced Self-Recognition Through The Other (derogatory) and goes "I CANNOT be like that guy." Which gets even more fun to consider when you see how Shou tends to give Serizawa more grace than the other Super 5/Claw members. Enough to try and reason with him, at least.

Specifically talking about these panels. Sorry for bringing them up again, it'll happen repeatedly.

Anyway. Shou is trying to convince Serizawa specifically because he thinks Serizawa can be convinced. In Shou Vision, he is the Most Promising Adult in a 20 mile radius who is considerate enough to hear Shou out, reasonable enough to Listen, and powerful enough to do something impactful. Generally, Shou sees Serizawa display a lot of the traits he views as Super Important (kindness, conviction, etc.), but he has the one fatal flaw that Shou hates the most (cowardice) and he never uses those traits The Right Way.

So, to me, I think Shou may have appreciated Claw Serizawa's presence for the Potential he had, but also began to despise him because he never acted on it. But also he never HATED Serizawa. Again, he sees lots of honourable traits in this guy, it's just incredibly aggravating to see him Be Like That. Especially because they were both in the same situation as people who looked up to Toichiro and learned from him. But all Shou could see was a guy refusing to wriggle out from Toichiro's grip, even when pushed to do so.

ANYWAY. do you ever think about how after Serizwa changed his mind about Claw, he stuck by Shou's side basically the whole time afterwards. Grhgrhf. I do.

And I love that they are still in contact. I think Serizawa is a little awkward about it first and is like “why does he not resent me at all”. Because he feels Really Bad about it all still. and Shou is like “Serizawa my man how’ve you been 🤝” when they meet up. Because I think Shou appreciates his change more than resents how long it took him to get there yknow. The resentment angle is interesting though -- there's definitely some complicated feelings there -- but I just don't think Shou would keep it up too long. Especially not towards Serizawa, who immediately stood up to Toichiro after he changed his mind. Also, Shou is a super forgiving kid anyway. Serizawa is constantly amazed at Shou's coolness.

And Seri grows more confident in their good relationship the same way he grows confident about everything else/other relationships !! I don’t really view them very familial though, personally. Serizawa has the Reigen thing where he’s not a parent/older sibling/uncle to Shou, but is a Responsible and Trustworthy Adult Friend. I think he'd want to be someone Shou can actually rely on to help him sometimes, if he were to need it. Also, I think they just like each other's company a lot!!! Lots to bond over.

Okay dude, not cool. I don't appreciate being called a problem when I'm trying my best to make this work for everybody. But my point is that some people will always complain. If you are happy with the tagging, I guarantee there will be somebody else who is pissed at the same tags. And why? Because it's a grey area, especially in those fics where the love interest shifts from Tommy to Eddie.

Who is to tell at which point you should tag which ship? In your scenario it's pretty obvious I won't argue that. But that isn't always the case. So you as writer got to make a decision. Tag it Buddie and the BT stans will flip. Tag it Bucktommy and the Buddie stans get mad. There's no winning. Tag both? That might work if it's a clear 50-50 between the pairings.

And that's not even taking my intentions as the writer into consideration. I have a clear vision in my head while writing, but to get there we might need some Bucktommy. Is it enough to warrant it's own tag? It's a grey area! Hence the exhaustion.

It isn’t a grey area, anon… it quite literally is tagging the fics as they are. If BT is central to the story then tag it as such— if people don’t wanna read BT then they don’t have to read it if it’s tagged. It’s not cool to mistag fics when people already have a plethora of tags filtered out and shouldn’t still be getting shit showing up.

you just agreed that in my scenario that it was obvious- so why are you still whining in my inbox? sending me anonymous messages trying to tell me what is and isn’t “exhausting” as a fic writer when i literally am one— im literally currently writing a buddie fic rn that’s centered around marisol keeping them apart… and yknow what? its gonna be tagged as an eddiesol fic bc they are together for like half the story! and yknow what else? its gonna be tagged clearly that eddiesol isn’t endgame! so that way, if people don’t wanna read it bc they either wanna read eddiesol or bc they wanna read buddie then they can filter out the tags respectively or they can scroll past it! but what im not going to do is tag it as “minor eddiesol” and then spend over half the fic w them together because that’s not accurate tagging.

If a fic is tagged “bt”, then as a buddie stan im not gonna read it— most buddie stans ive seen getting upset about fics in this situation are mad bc of the absence of a bt tag when there should be one. That’s the crux of this issue. No one is upset about the bt tag being there in a buddie fic if bt is a central part of the story (like i literally said in my response to your previous message), we’re upset about the absence of tags/or using tags that don’t accurately describe the fic at hand.

i have never seen a “grey area” of people getting upset about something being tagged when it’s correct— everyone i’ve seen are upset over the fact that there are fics tagged as buddie, and not bt when they are clearly bt fics and vice versa.

you say that if you’re writing a buddie fic and it needs bt to get there does it warrant a tag? yes it does bc that ship is part of the story! and unless it actually plays a minor role, then don’t tag it as “minor.”

This “grey area” you’re talking about doesn’t exist in the way you are trying to paint it out. People don’t wanna click on a fic that has content that isn’t tagged, that’s not fair to the reader.

Also, sitting here thinking about a Mundane AU where SY & Airplane actually meet IRL. Like, at some point during one of their many needless arguments online, Great Master Airplane dares his almighty hater over DM’s to meet him at an upcoming ACG* convention to yell In Person if he’s so mad about it-- not even once considering that Cucumber might actually accept the invitation. Shit, now he’s gotta find money to go to a convention?! He’d already nearly wrecked his computer earlier this week...

It’s agreed that they’d meetup by one of the Official booths (of a shared interest), and shockingly Airplane is the first one there. Just. Awkwardly piddling around on his phone for a while, honestly hoping that Cucumber-bro had chickened out. Like, sure, he’d have wasted money on nothing, but yknow??? Maybe this wasn’t a great idea???? Actually??

Until he gets a Ping over Legally-Distinct-WeChat, asking if the weird guy in a tacky button-down--the one staring at his phone--is him. And rather, Shen Yuan’s only late because he decided to bring one of his older brothers. Y’know, he has that privilege. Though, upon confirmation that this “friend” of Yuan’s is just Some Guy, his brother doesn’t stick around them too long.

Neither Shen Yuan nor Airplane know what to do. Admittedly, neither had planned past this point. Though, inwardly, Airplane’s a little annoyed that apparently?? His #1 hater is some scrawny, conventionally attractive rich kid.

Outwardly, Airplane decides that he’s going to treat this situation like he would online, as much as he possibly could, anyway. He also refuses to use the very obvious Given Name SY’s brother used, preferring to call SY “Cucumber-bro” -- A little professional distance between he & his loyal “fan”. Not that Shen Yuan is complaining. He’s not sure what he was expecting Airplane to be like, but this annoying early 20-something felt about right.

Though, somehow... all of this accumulates into them just sorta. Hanging Out. Awkwardly at first, but the banter picks up after they’ve had some time to get used to being around each other. If Shen Yuan was the sort of person to admit to these things, he’d almost say he was having fun. Neither of them, but especially not Airplane, have actually had friends to hang out with for a while...

Frankly, Shen Yuan kinda forgot what it was like to be social with people who weren’t family... and after some consideration, he realises this guy seems really lonely. Airplane dodges any conversation about real life, friends, or family like the plague--whether its his or Shen Yuan’s. The only acceptable “family” he’ll talk about is Luo Binghe’s (which, frankly, Shen Yuan is much more interested in, anyway).

In the novel, Luo Binghe’s parents never really made an appearance, so hearing about Tianlang-Jun & Su Xiyan directly from the author was a little exciting?? And maybe a tad infuriating. Wasted potential. So much wasted potential.

At some point, Shen Yuan’s righteous indignation manages to squeak out the confession that Airplane’s dirt poor & gutted his own story because... well, that’s what made money. It is what it is. Sorry you hate it so much, but then--like he’s been saying the whole time, why’d you keep reading it??? Not that he minds. To be honest, responding to your vitriol is the highlight of his day. Wouldn’t be the same if you gave up.

Shen Yuan asks if he’s really happy with that?? And well, no, of course not! But based on how liberal Shen Yuan’s been with his money throughout the course of the ‘con, he clearly wouldn’t understand what it’s like, huh? Angry lil rich kid getting mad online at shit he could easily stay away from. So, unless you wanna admit that you actually really like it, then he’s not accepting criticism at this time. :v

Because this is perfectly reasonable human behaviour?! Though, honestly, Shen Yuan’s family is just happy to see him finally applying himself, so they don’t mind indulging them.

For the record, though, Shen Yuan’s sister is the only one who really knows who Airplane IS... and she thinks it’s really quite funny. And she can’t wait til Yuan’s comfortable enough to actually bring him home. Then she can show Mr. Airplane her brother’s stash of Luo Binghe merch. (✿◡‿◡)

i saw this tiktok of bts’ solo era so far and i just wanna say that i’m glad that they know army doesn’t expect anything from them but music. GOOD MUSIC. like historically so many idols have gone on to do non music things after their peaks but bts knows that the core of their fandom are music fans. fans of THEIR music especially. bts as a whole prides themselves as being musicians and army prides ourselves as being fans of musicians.

All the boys have done well. The assignment was to serve music, and they’ve all delivered. Some songs are more my taste than others, but I can acknowledge the work they’ve all done and I respect it.

I’ve seen chatter here and there about how Jungkook isn’t mature in his interview answers. About how he apparently comes across as a clueless puppet who can’t articulate his views eloquently, but like I said about the discourse around Jimin’s apparent lack of contribution to BTS, or Jin’s apparent lack of skill - sometimes that criticism is warranted, but most of the time people who say things like this frankly have no idea what they’re talking about.

A few of you have sent me asks months back, to give my view on Jungkook the way I’ve done about Jimin, Yoongi, Hoseok etc recently. I didn’t answer because I was waiting for Golden. Now that the album’s out, I’m sitting with it and will respond to those asks before too long.

But before that, I want to draw attention to this excerpt from Jungkook’s interview in The Atlantic.

In my draft reply to the asks wanting me to talk about Jungkook, I start with saying he’s a very simple person. That’s both his charm and the thing that confuses a lot of people about him, because many of us are anything but simple, so when faced with a man like him living the life he’s living, some people respond with suspicion or bewilderment.

Simple motivations, simple words, simple considerations - this is what I’ve observed in JK for the past 10 years. He’s younger than all the members but no less intelligent that the rest of the guys on average. He knows how to communicate what he means, he just usually has a preference to do it simply, and that’s what he did in that paragraph.

I’m excited to see how he’s going to become a global pop star, even bigger than he is now, because he’s certainly got the talent and skill to show real results. I’m proud of all the projects the boys have put out so far.

By their own words, one point of Chapter 2 was to showcase their individual colours, to show the world who makes up a group like BTS, so people could more clearly see what each member brings to the table, while the guys push themselves to learn new things, expand their skillsets, and hone their individual artistry to create a stronger, more nimble group.

are you familiar with agamben / his ideas on bare life/homo sacer? i found it a compelling extension of a biopolitical analysis but he's a weird conspiratorial antivaxx adj guy now and i worry that the roots of this position run deeper in his analysis than i would like to believe

so i think a perennial spectre haunting a lot of academic analysis of biopolitics is a particular form of individualism that tends away from class analysis and toward right-libertarianism. i've said before wrt foucault that i have this problem, particularly where he tries to envision a political alternative or liberatory project (as opposed to just analysing / problematising the existing situation as he saw it). it's not that he's wrong per se when he talks about the 'massifying' effect of modern national politics and sovereign power. but, if the analysis over-privileges this distinction between individual vs [state / professional guild / institution] and doesn't investigate the relationship between the subjection of the individual and the subjection of the labouring class, then we end up with a politics that tends almost populist at points, and certainly tends liberal because it's unable to conceive of liberation as a project requiring class solidarity and action. this sort of writing is often appealing to western universities and academics for what i think are obvious reasons.

agamben is not someone whose career i have closely followed but what i've observed from a distance is a conception of biopolitics marked by the above issues and therefore pretty limited at the outset in its ability to do more than advance a negative (deconstructive) critique (which is not a bad form of critique by any means but is not, on its own, a political platform or call to action). plus i think, for someone who pays lip service to aristotle as much as he does, agamben is not very attentive to the valuation of human 'flourishing' or well-being or whatever you want to call it—instead the emphasis is almost always on (ironically) a pretty bare definition of liberty, a freedom-from forces of the state or institution or even the social body writ large, conceived as a kind of mob. in this framework (again, more than incidentally libertarian), you can see how things like mandatory vaccination or pandemic 'lockdowns' are prima facie bad. they are repressive, in the sense that they constrain individuals. the guiding axioms in the paradigm foreclose questions about what social living should protect or produce, and what an individual owes to their fellows and can expect in return. the position is that maximising individual freedom of choice is always better, and considerations like, yknow, not killing disabled people are simply not weighed the same.

in general this also comes back down to the point that it's not terribly useful to talk about biopolitics outside the context of a critique of capitalism. i think this critique was sometimes implicit in foucault's writing (& much of the biopolitics writing we have is lecture transcripts!) and is sometimes dropped entirely or avoided in certain academic circles. agamben is of course correct that the reason states 'locked down' when covid appeared was because they were trying to protect their biological capital—their workforces, militaries, and so on. he's correct that states do things like mandate vaccination for the same reason. like, we should be clear-eyed about this and not pretend that capitalist states are doing some kind of humanitarianism in any of their public health endeavours. that's not what those departments exist for and never has been. however, it doesn't follow that every action a capitalist state takes in the name of public health is in itself bad or useless, and if we form our politics around a reflexive oppositional impulse and a lack of class analysis then we end up saying shit like that the problem with vaccine mandates is the vaccines and not the character of the power doing the mandating.

i think this is an important distinction in general but especially germane to discussions of things like medicine. your doctor who exists in a system inextricably bound up with capitalist state power and its biopolitical interest in producing a labour force is not your friend and is not, structurally, protecting your interests. that doesn't mean that medical care is intrinsically bad (i hope it's clear that it is emphatically not) or that doctoring is transhistorically doomed to produce and depend on capitalist bio-exploitation.

i guess this is just a long way of saying i think agamben produced a few interesting analyses of existing institutions and structures of power, but relies on operating assumptions that make him really useless for theorising power in a way attentive to its (class) character. i think that whole milieu is more a politics of anti-sociality than anything else and that it has only limited, local points of overlap with communism (and then only when taken pretty far out of its theoretical context).

I'm obsessed with the hybrid AU of @cinnamonest, and i couldn't help but think about the hybrids of animals that aren't, yknow, sexually desired, but still make contact with humans, like Sloths. Just a sloth living their life.

All of this is just my personal opinion and ideas, im also bad at writing, but this is just a ramble of thoughts. the original idea of the hybrid au goes out to cinnamonest

I feel like i haven't done as much research to properly get the behavior of the sloth down to a T, but let's just say domestication can change even the craziest of wolves 🫡

GN reader, sometimes referred to as "it," because i like to believe that humans in this au don't see hybrids as people unless they prove themselves to be as smart and able to live on their own. Also, I think that sloth hybrids can move a bit faster than sloths.

Sloths as animals are already rare. So, to stumble upon a sloth hybrid would definitely be even rarer than receiving God's blessing, I think.

I like to imagine the first sloth hybrid encounter would be in Sumeru, where an Akademiya student notices some weird creature eating their notes while out researching in the forest. At first, they would be horrified at all their hard-earned work and possible funding going down the drain until they noticed that this thing is a weird dirty human with moss on their back. And it moved as slow as a snail...

An undocumented hybrid??? Would presenting it as a research topic replace the fruit of labors this student wasted their entire lives on??? The answer is yes. Yes it did.

Sloths feel very stressed when carried, so getting the hybrid to the city was difficult in itself, and plus, wasn't it illegal to bring in wild animals out of their habitat? But the species could be considered to go extinct as their numbers have been dwindling, so wouldn't it be better to raise it in a controlled environment where it's safer for them? Who knows if the reason there's barely any out in the wild is because of predators or due to the Withering problem (that is now taken care of) that destroyed a good fraction of the forest.

Either way, the hybrid is now under the protection of the Akademiya, and its new habitat is in the section where they usually study hybrids and their nature towards humans (with their owner's permission and signed documents). In this case, having a one-way glass is fortunate since the poor hybrid freaked out when a lot of humans gathered around them and severely injured one with their claws. They considered releasing the hybrid back in the wild because of how indifferent it was to humans (and the fact that it actively resisted being given a bath by using its claws, again), but decided not to as the hybrid seemed ok with living in the space as long as it wasn't bothered.

But the question now is, how would researchers study the sloth hybrid? Some attempt to bribe it with delicious food, but it takes forever just for the hybrid to eat the bribe. So they opted for leaving out simple puzzles, namely shaped blocks that fit into different holes in a wooden box. Due to the time it takes to study it, I like to believe researchers are paid for their efforts if they submit a report of what the sloth does, like how long it takes for them to eat this kind of fruit, how long it takes for them to move around, etc etc.

It sounds easy, but when you take into consideration how smart sloths can be, it isn't long before the hybrid learns how to speak, nor does it take long to figure out they're being watched.

"No." Is the first word they picked up, due to how common it was to hear it whenever someone would complain around it. So when the student who brought you in started complaining about how they should've just left it out in the wild and rewritten their paper, it said its first word.

Now, in context, saying no to someone saying "I wish I left you in the woods" could be taken in many ways. Does this sloth see me as a friend because I brought it here? Does this sloth care for me more than the others because? Or does it feel bad for eating my research notes that were my entire reason to live?

To the last part, the answer would be no. Sloth hybrid feels no shame for their actions. Don't leave important things out in the open.

All the researchers that have said "no" around the sloth hybrid appeared to be uncomfortable and distressed, putting their hands on their head and shaking it, sometimes letting out some kind of liquid from their eyes. Hearing these humans talk so much and offer nothing but tasteless leaves... wouldn't any sloth feel uncomfortable and distressed? It took at least 5 minutes for liquid to also come out of their eyes and mimic the behavior of students who lost all hope in their future, shaking its head and saying "no" repeatedly but slowly. If the humans would take it away from heavenly leaves and fruits, couldn't they supply it with anything better than dry leaves?

The student panicked, thinking that maybe they should've let the sloth be, and tried to discuss moving the hybrid back to the wild as it was clearly not liking something. But it still said no, even louder when they tried to bribe it with (mid) fruits inside a crate. All researchers agree that they wish sloth hybrids could move faster, or they could learn to move faster because 15 minutes later, the hybrid was laying on it's back pointing to its food.

Killing hybrids is illegal and would most likely get someone life in prison. I think.

There are some moments when the sloth hybrid proves itself to be helpful and even intelligent enough to comprehend human emotions. Liquid coming out of eyes = sadness. So when a student comes in crying while delivering high-quality leaves and fruit, the sloth makes an attempt to reach out a hand, offering fruit. After 20 minutes of climbing down while the student who probably failed their midterms is having a breakdown in a corner.

It's a sweet gesture, but the way it sometimes just drops the fruit on the person and turns to go back to eat makes some think it does it just for the human to be quiet. But if you have the patience to sit for another 20 minutes, you'll notice that it will take a bite of its food and wait until you do the same. But once you take a bite, it'll stop caring and munch away. If you're still there and there's a piece of fruit or a leaf left, prepare to wait a very long time for it to bring the plate over and give it to you.

It's adorable until it realizes that bringing empty plates to humans makes them take it away and bring more food, so those unfortunately not having a mental breakdown have to wait for the sloth to bring over its plate. It's even worse after some students teach it to wave, as the hybrid will stop what it's doing, raise their hand, wave, lower their hand, and look around for 5-10 minutes before remembering what it was previously doing. Less if you point to the plate. Don't grab the plate, though. The sloth hybrid is smart enough to do it itself and will throw a fit and scratch at you if you attempt to rush it.

Students now secretly feed the sloth in hopes that their friends won't distract it, as it would take almost up to an hour if a group of researchers all decided to come and wave one by one. Sometimes, people think it's a curse to have some sort of intelligence because the thing is so slow, but I don't think it would prove itself to live on its own as a citizen with rights just because it's so slow, and it would probably take an hour at least to do a simple task like writing a letter.

But don't worry, the sloth hybrid gets the best care at the Akademiya Hybrid Research Facility(?), even if it's starting to smell a bit bad to the point where they're considering spraying it down with a hose from a safe distance.

Hi, me again. Was laughing about the lego minifig lumberjack that suspiciously is wearing the same outfit as the lego minifig werewolf and it resulted in me having the most unhinged thoughts about Supernatural. Again.

Once again my brain is overcompensating for how badly I enjoyed S1-3 and how little I enjoyed season 4 onwards.

Now I have gone on record as being someone who generally prefers the non-comedy episodes of the early seasons (HOWEVER a good comedy episode goes a long way in a dark and gritty series as a refreshing break. I love a sensible chuckle. Look at me.) but hear me out. But for your consideration:

You know the drill. Small town, missing people or animal attack reports, maybe both. Shady shit going on. They're not sure if it's worth the time but they were nearby, or Bobby reckoned it was worth checking out so they swing through town, figure they'll stay a few nights. The place is pretty, out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woods. Picturesque and the people are nice. Maybe they could relax a few days while also sussing it out.

They can't immediately determine the cause, which is strange. There's always signs that they can equate to being this or that and "dad's journal" always has an answer. Almost always.

One of them goes out for a late night wander (probably Dean, look I'm predictable, but also it feels fitting - Sam got the demon blood ok) and gets attacked by something in the forest, and returns with a really weird bite mark that looks somewhere between canine and human. There's a bit of panic, yknow "What did it look like?" - "It looked like a werewolf! No not like, a werewolf, like a movie werewolf!"

And they're both freaked because there's a handful of horrible fucked up things that could be, and for most of them a bite is just a normal physical injury and the worst thing he'd have to worry about is rabies - but they test press a silver knife to his skin and.... Nothing. They try a few other on-hand items if they have them, probably some herbs and dried flowers, nothing. So they assume the bite's just. An animal bite.

Fast forward after one very tense day of research and uncomfortable vibes, and the sun goes down. And that's when things go to shit. It's not a full moon, which catches them off guard. Dean starts convulsing and twitching on the motel room floor and Sam is fucking panicking, searching for one of those curse-bag's that witches hide when they want to kill you. Dean has one nasty, gritty, panful transformation into something absolutely horrifying - going for my personal favorite - vaguely resembles human but very much weird wolf-man freak. He keeps his clothes but probably tears them up a bit as he's writhing about in pain. Sam is in shock, holding a machete out in defense trying to gauge the situation, Dean comes to and is just looking around in terror and confusion.

Probably have a stare-off before Sam just goes "... Dean???" and the poor guy cannot talk, can only make horrible throat noises, stumbles into the bathroom to get a look in the mirror and probably freaks out bad. Either bolts out the window in a panic, or bolts out the window cause he heard someone knock on the door hearing the noise of it all.

It's like the wishing well - so its some weird curse or local effect that's making a legend with its own rules become real - werewolves transform each night when the sun sets. There's something about racing against the literal setting sun that tickles me, and the added impact of it being something that requires management and mitigation each day is really fun.

So they have a shitty little time in this weird ass town trying to figure out; what's going on, how do we stop it, and arguing over if they call Bobby and tell him what happened or not.

I love how loved megumi is in sea glass gardens, like the "i don't even know your last name but i just made your heart beat again and now i will die and kill for you" makes me melt. yuuta's love for megumi (SO NORMAL FEELINGS) is concerning but very heartwarming

I think one of the most interesting parts of the dynamic with Megumi and the love others hold for him, particularly in this moment, is that Megumi is almost entirely unaware of it.

To be clear, he knows his sister loves him. Gojo, Nanami, Shoko--he knows, on an academic level, that they all love him. He doesn't know that Yuuta and the other first years have decided that he's Their Boy (But Mostly Yuuta's) and that if anything happened to him they would kill everyone in this room and then themselves. But he can plead being unconscious as a defense to ignorance for that one.

Megumi knows that people love him. But he does not feel very loved right now.

He's completely traumatized, even if he wouldn't admit it at gunpoint. I've spoken about this in other posts, but Megumi genuinely believes that what the Zenin just did to him was a murder attempt. He thinks that they hate him, and that Gojo saving him humiliated them, and that they've decided that if they couldn't have him, no one could. He just spent the last week under the impression--with considerable evidence to back it up--that an entire clan, his blood family, got together to murder him in the most brutal, painful, and humiliating way they could imagine up. He's angry and humiliated and more than a little afraid right now.

And he just doesn't feel very loved. It's hard to feel anything but bad after what they did to him.

Of course, while he sleeps, he has Gojo and Nanami and Shoko having left the world behind to focus on him to the exclusion of all else. Yuuta's--Yuuta's got some very normal feelings around him. He hasn't seen Maki in years, but she's there, and she's very protective of the little boy who she once played with. Inumaki and Panda both had the option to walk away, and yet here they are, doing whatever they can do to help. And Tsumiki hasn't even left his side since she got him back.

He's loved to the point of destruction by so many people right now, and he's just almost completely cut off from knowing that. But the love is there.

Speaking specifically about Prinxiety, I am completely right with what you said, especially with the “letting their guard down around each other”. When they started to interact, they knew nothing about each other and all they had was a stereotypical idea of the other: for Virgil, Roman was an idiot. For Roman, Virgil was a dark, gloomy buzzkill.

But then, they knew each other. They learned about each other. And now, their vision of each other is richer, wider and more realistic. For Virgil, Roman isn’t just an idiot anymore: he’s silly, sure, but he’s also brave, hardworking and he can be nice, when he wants to. For Roman, Virgil isn’t just a dark, gloomy buzzkill: he’s also a Side who tries his best, with a great taste and good intentions.

I really like this, because they didn’t just go from “idiot/gloomy” to “not-idiot/not-gloomy”: they acknowledged that the negative traits they saw in each other exist, but also realized that these traits do not define them. They are just part of a much bigger, wider picture. And I think that’s beautiful when two people don’t just see each other as perfect and beautiful, but with some flaws too.

In Roman and Virgil’s case, this acknowledgment is what made them relax around each other. And, with that, what they went through: I think Accepting Anxiety gave a very strong push to their relationship. For the first time, Roman saw something more in Virgil, beside the “creepy/bad guy/dark/gloomy” emo: he saw a Side who wanted to protect Thomas and realized how useful he has always been for Thomas’ creativity. He literally told him he made them better! A huge change for Roman, if we think about the consideration he has for the dark sides.

And Virgil changed his idea about Roman as well! His change was more gradual, over the episodes, but we saw it. Now he doesn’t treat Roman as he did at the beginning of the series: he’s a lot more supportive and nicer with him – and Roman is nicer in turn. They are friends, Your Honor, and no one can deny it.

So, since they better know each other, they can relax around each other. And this implies another great aspect of this couple, which is how carefree it could be. Since they know each other’s strengths and flaws and have nothing to worry about each other, they can relax, have fun, be silly and enjoy their time together. I love passion and drama, but if I want to find something simpler that sparks joy, these two idiots are a perfect match 🌟
