Bit of a weird question, but I've seen multiple references to something happening between Cleo and Hermitblr a while back and I've never quite found out what it was. Since I figured I couldn't hurt to ask someone, and this blog has been around the scene for a while, I'm asking here. But it's okay if you don't want to answer.

hey anon! first of all we are both honored and terrified to have officially acquired the title of "been around the scene for a while." dang.

anyway, this explanation took a few tries to preword in as neutral and non-rambling a manner as possible, but our own biases may still come through.

from what we can recall from the sidelines (we were taking a step back from the fandom at this time), the events were roughly along these lines:

cleo joined hermitblr after tweeting about having read a popular fic

after being in the fandom for a while, she ended up giving her two cents on the currently raging hcship discourse

to paraphrase her stance from memory: for her and most of the other hermits it's not (or at least wasn't at time of her writing that) really a priority; she added that it should however be tagged properly so people who don't want to see it can avoid it

several follow-up questions were asked and answered, some of which cleo likely didn't quite have the fandom context to understand

hcship discourse continued raging; iirc an anti-hcshipper was supposedly doxxed by hcshippers at this time and cleo was blamed for fostering an environment that let it happen

cleo mentioned she was against the doxxing, but also that she had been receiving death threats and anon hate since she initially weighed in on hcship stuff

to the best of our knowledge cleo has been inactive on tumblr since; you can still find her blog (zombiecleoprime) and read through it directly for primary sources.

Huuuh depends which one. You mean the most recent one, the doodle? I used Winsor&Newton alcohol markers. I also used a single white Posca marker to add light in characters eyes and on jewelry. (Most of my other HCShipping stuff like comics is made with a graphic tablet though)

i apologize for the hcdiscposting on here possibly stressing people out, but also i’m just absolutely disgusted by the lack of press this situation is getting. when there was hcship discourse, it was inescapable. when x did something bad, it was all over everyone’s dashes for at least a week. fics ubiquitous in fandom - both infamous and famous - are so everpresent that it’s just straight up impossible to ask people to tag for them.

but fucking nobody is talking about how absolutely, just, like, shit this is, and that’s honestly leading me to believe y’all just hate indigenous people getting in the way of your minecraft youtubers lmao
