a good omens grieving update because if I'm crying at 5 am you better be too.
Good morning, maggoty loves of mine. Despite all attempts to distract myself and you all with wedding cakes and dresses and textposts, it is five in the fucking morning, and I've been crying for half an hour already.
I'm listening to the Pentatonix cover of Hallelujah on loop and I will never be normal about anything ever again and there is nothing you, I, God, Satan or even Neil can do about it.
@mirrorleaf was kind enough to hijack my stupid royal family post with this fucking gorgeous edit of season 1 set to Hallelujah. Thank you, I'm now fucking sobbing and I found another edit again of season 1 and then I read fics and now I'm NOT FUCKING OKAY.
All the times Aziraphale looks up to Heaven and prays, how hopeful and desperate he is, and then the way he looks at Crowley while he's pinned against the wall, entirely calm and sure and safe.
And the song playing with Love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah over Crowley crying over alcohol when he thought Aziraphale had died. I'm not okay.
I need to watch season 1 again. When I watched it first, it was in two installments with you maggots on livestream, and the first installment was like two days after I was kidnapped as Mascot of Good Omens. Needless to say, it was all a fever dream.
Then I watched this edit now and there's so much. There's so much fucking layers and emotion and nuance that I didn't notice. And it's absolutely going to wreck me and then I'll have to rewatch season 2 and by then I'll have no self-preservation and I'll have read the book and I'll never ever be okay again and I'll have to live with it.
You all really just found a guy on the internet and fucking wrecked him, huh. This fandom really just did that. Now salt and pepper shakers made me think about Crowley's Fall and the inherent transience of human nature and The angel you knew is not me.
It hurts. I thought I was ridiculous about Drarry. No I was entirely fucking reasonable about Drarry. This is a gut punch except to the throat. Repeatedly.
I remember when I made a post a day or two after finishing season 2 and someone, @thescholarlystrumpet it was probably you, told me that grief isn't a linear process and to take care. To anyone outside this broken fandom, that would seem like a disproportional response to a show's season 2 finale when we know that it will end happily. Everyone in this fandom knows how much that reminder is needed, though.
Besides, though we know that the show ends happily, we know that Aziraphale and Crowley will be together and it is inevitable, how does it still fucking hurt so much? I knew all the spoilers, technically, of the show before I started, and it still surprised me with the emotions.
I had to stop writing this post for a few minutes because an image came to my mind and I had to sketch it. Of how I'd felt when I came here, lonely and frightened, and how the fandom grabbed me and forced me to watch the show and how much it hurts and how beautiful it is and how it feels like a mirror. A shattered mirror, one that's soaked with all our blood and tears, but it showed me I wasn't alone. So here, have this brief sketch and do NOT come at with about pretentiousness my beloved maggots because for one, I have always aspired to be pretentious and for another, THE SUN HASN'T FUCKING RISEN AND I'VE BEEN IN TEARS WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?
Tumblr media
Congratulations, the next time anyone asks you if you've ever killed anyone, every one of you can confidently say that yes, you are indeed directly responsible for murder. My blood is on your hands, motherfuckers, you adopted a Mascot and then killed him.

Easter!
For those of you who don't know, March 31st of 2024 is Easter Sunday! Someone may say to you, especially in a church, "He is risen!"
The proper response to "He is risen!" Is "He is risen indeed!" Then, you might say "Hallelujah!" Or "Alleluia!"
Easter is the celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection after His crucifixion. It's about new beginnings, and to me it holds a lot of meaning.
As the first bonus picture below says, a lot can happen in seven days. A lot can happen in three! It's okay. I love you.
He is risen!

THE SERMON –
Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed!
Hallelujah!
Today we celebrate nothing less than God’s victory over sin, death, and the devil.
And through our Saviour Jesus Christ, it is your victory as well.
It’s that personal, that real.
The Apostle John wrote:
“For this is how God loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
You can place your name in that verse.
For God so loved you, that he gave His only Son to die on the cross, so that you would live.
But the cross was not the final word, nor was the tomb, but the resurrection!
The resurrection is the center, the core of the Christian faith.
The Apostle Paul said it clearly in 1st Corinthians:
“If Christ has not been raised from the dead, then our preaching and faith is in vain . . . .”
“But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead,” Paul wrote, “the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
There were many witnesses to the truth of the resurrection: the disciples, the women at the tomb, and hundreds of people who the Bible tells us saw the resurrected Jesus.
That truth today has become the world’s largest religion.
But this is much more than about numbers.
It’s about victory over the one thing we cannot escape from on our own -- death.
The prophet Isaiah wrote of Jesus 700 years before the birth of Christ, saying,
“He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces.”
Today we say and sing Hallelujah in our Easter Service, again and again.
The word comes from the Hebrew, it means: Praise God!
Praise Him for the greatest rescue mission that has ever taken place.
The rescue of God’s most prized possession in all the universe, His children -- us.
That victory through Christ is what the joy of Easter is all about.
Of course, 2,000 years ago on the first Easter morning the mood was not festive for those who followed Christ, for the women who were going to His tomb.
Jesus had risen, but no one knew it yet.
The first Easter began in grief.
Christ’s followers hadn’t even been able to give Him a proper burial; He had died too close to the Sabbath.
By the time Joseph of Arimathea could get permission to remove the body from the cross, they didn't have the opportunity to prepare it according to custom.
So, as soon as the sun went down on the Sabbath, they bought spices and supplies to complete the burial.
Everything was arranged to get an early start the next morning.
During their walk to the sepulcher though, the women realized they’d forgotten something, ‘Who would roll the stone away.’
But as they approach the tomb, the stone was the first thing they noticed.
It looked as if an angel from Heaven had tossed it aside.
And in fact, that’s exactly what happened.
The Apostle Matthew wrote, "An angel of the Lord descended from Heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it." [Matthew 28:2]
And it was an angel of God that tells the women, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen . . . .”
The first part of the angel’s message tells the women they won’t find Jesus where they expect Him to be.
Then the angel says: "Go, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you to Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you."
The angel was instructing the women to share the good news of Christ’s resurrection.
I love that the angel says, ‘tell his disciples and Peter.’
Peter, who had denied our Lord three times.
Peter, who was ashamed and mourning.
But also, Peter, who was forgiven, and who would receive the role of apostle.
Jesus wasn’t where the women expected Him to be.
Jesus is never where people with minds focussing on this world expect Him to be.
We come into this life with a ‘God-shaped’ space inside of us.
We all have questions:
-- Why are we here?
-- What’s the meaning of life?
-- Does anything happen after death
-- Is there hope for an after-life?
These questions reveal our desire for something, or someone, who is bigger than us – someone who’s in control – who has all the answers.
Or in other words – God.
Down through the centuries different people have developed their own expectations of God.
They’ve tried various ways to fill that empty space in us where God belongs.
These man-made religions teach that somehow, through some worthy action on our part we can discover God by ourselves, and earn His favour, earn forgiveness.
But honest people quickly find they can’t save themselves.
Because as human beings we’re imperfect, we fail.
We find ‘self-salvation’ doesn’t work.
Or as the Apostle Paul explained in Romans 3:23: “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . . .”
That’s why our salvation must come from outside us.
We realize the true plan of redemption is one that only God accomplishes.
It was a plan announced to Adam and Eve right after the fall in the Garden of Eden.
In Genesis 3:16 God said that from the offspring of the woman would come One who would crush Satan’s head, but that He would strike this Saviour’s heal.
It is a reference to the crucifixion, and to Christ who would save the world from its fallen state by making of Himself the one perfect sacrifice to end all sacrifices.
The one true faith, Christianity, is an ‘unexpected’ one.
Instead of making us fix our own brokenness, God does it for us through the cross of Christ.
Again, the Apostle Paul explained we: “are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. (Romans 3:24-25)
By faith, not by our own efforts.
The resurrection proves that Christ’s sacrifice was acceptable to God the Father as the complete payment for sin.
A death and resurrection we are united to in our Baptism.
Yet, some may ask, if God is so unexpected, how can we know Him so He can fill our emptiness with His salvation?
Here the Third Commandment guides us – Honor the Sabbath Day.
We find God in His true Church where the Word of God is preached and taught correctly, and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are administered properly.
Faith is worked within us by the Holy Spirit using God’s means of grace: Word and Sacrament.
Christ has ascended to Heaven, but He’s remained with you
-- in the water of Baptism
-- in the bread and wine of communion which are His true body and blood.
-- and in His life-giving Word.
Christ has kept His promise to rise from the tomb.
And as believing Christians He will keep His promise to You when He said: "I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Christ has risen!
He has risen indeed.
Alleluia! Amen.

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.  And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Heaven was silent

His disciples are joyful
His mother ‘s tears wiped away
Death were is your sting
As up from the grave He arose

"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep."
1 Corinthians 15:20
CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED
Brother Andrew shares today’s devotional:
At the time of the cruel persecution in the Soviet Union under Stalin, public meetings were regularly held in order to ridicule religion, the church and the priests. On one occasion the inhabitants of a town were summoned to the main square. From a platform on the square, a fluent 'scholarly’ atheist, who seemed to have many proofs against the Bible, God and the clergy addressed the public.
The crowd had listened silently. But when the local priest was called to the front to answer this brilliant oration, an uneasy muttering rippled through the crowd. The man went and stood close to the microphone and everyone held his breath. The tension could be cut with a knife, and you could hear a pin drop. What would his answer be?
We shall never know what went on in the heart of this man - his fear, his prayer - but at last his voice could be heard, resounding through the loudspeakers, not only to the crowd, but also to a large part of the city: “Khristos voskrese!” Christ is risen!
For one split second there was silence. A shudder went through the crowd and then, as a blazing testimony to the priest and to the atheist opponent, the cry broke out, unanimous and powerful: “Voistinu voskrese!” The Lord is risen indeed!
That was a bad day for atheistic propaganda in Russia. It was also a bad day for the religious leaders in Jerusalem, nearly 2,000 years ago, because they had to bribe the soldiers with much money to get them to tell lies (Matthew 28:12-13). It was also a bad day for the guards who “became like dead men” (Matthew 28:4).
But it was a bad day especially for the devil because if he had known this, he “would not have crucified the Lord of Glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8).
The one who believes in the Cross and the Resurrection takes the side of those who are persecuted. Or, to put it another way, whoever identifies with the Persecuted Church stands in the power of the Resurrection - a target of misguided and corrupt people, but nevertheless together with the mighty Conqueror. The Lamb conquers and we conquer too...in Him. Hallelujah!
Response
Today I rejoice in the glorious truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer
Lord, may the persecuted church around the world resound today with a vocal outburst of assurance that Jesus is alive
