Something I haven’t seen Stede get enough credit for is that he is fully capable of having been a passive aggressive ass to the “upper crust” from the start he may not have always had access to their deepest darkest secrets but he knows EXACTLY how to not just throw their hypocrisy in their face but do it while getting them to join in on their cannibalism and ASK for it to happen to begin with…he wanted to be accepted for himself without having to be a dick but he always knew how to play their games…and play them better than anyone else…
BUT more importantly even with this victory over the very people who have dismissed him he doesn’t actually let it go to his head he revels in it at the moment but he doesn’t see that as his ultimate win…HE apologizes to Ed for the night being a bit of a bust because this night wasn’t for him he stepped up because they ruined it for Ed he would have loved to get to play with Ed but rather than mope around Ed while he’s laughing it up and dancing around he goes and mopes by himself because while he’s sad that seemingly another person finds him lacking and that Ed is being a bit of an ass he ultimately still wants Ed to enjoy himself

I get not asking House to throw Chase's bachelor party, but why didn't Cameron just ask Foreman to do it? Why was Wilson her first thought

omfg did you have any content on that post you just posted? the one about leo never shutting up until hes in real pain? because you are very much Correct for that one holy hell it gets me every time
[ cw: violence mention / self sacrifice implied / ]
No content, just something I thought upon when thinking of the movie (something that is on my mind so very often.)
Just, thinking of Leo, when he’s separated from everyone and everything, being completely silent. Even being so horrifically beaten as he was, even being in a true nightmare scenario, he is silent in his suffering. Smiles through it, even.
At the moment where it would have been more than justified to make any noise, he stays silent.

Humans are good, actually.
I can only drink out of a particular water bottle that's getting phased out by the shop that sells it, so I put up a call on FB and was like "Hey if y'all find any of these, please grab one or two to send to me and I'll pay for them!"
Someone I've met a grand total of twice, through my volunteer job, has bought 6 of them, which are arriving tomorrow and when I asked for her information to pay her back, she refused to give it because she just wanted to do something nice.
I'm working on getting my brain to accept other water bottles and such so when the time comes I cannot get any more of my water bottle, I will not just straight up stop drinking water like I did when I broke my first one and couldn't get a replacement for 3 days.
But having those 6? That gives me so much more time to work on that! And not having to spend that money myself when I'm broke as hell but willing to get broker just so I can be sure I'll be able to hydrate? Fuck me, I still struggle to believe that goodness exists in people!

Ask me about the Does
8: How do they communicate with each other? Are there any recurring phrases or gestures unique to their relationship?
The ways they communicate when they're alone/home are mostly silent tbh, helping each other with work, making coffee, reading books together. Things don't always have to be said, and they both treasure the silence. This isn't to say they don't talk at all, they often do, mundane and serious topics pinballing around while they share breakfast, Jon putting spoonfulls of sugar into Darcy's coffee while Darcy makes sure that Jon has enough food on his plate and remembers to eat all of it. That's another thing, doing things for one another just happens. Small things adding up and up and up. Never mentioned, but always appreciated. I don't think these are unique in any way, but instead mundane and exactly what they
21: What is their worst memory together?
I'm not sure if it counts as a memory as its an argument that comes up a lot but Jon really doesn't like Darcy's job...or rather a specific part of his job that's become a bit of a hobby. Darcy likes to take people apart to see how they work, which would be fine if you know, people actually stayed dead in the neath, but unfortunately they often don't and Darcy doesn't have any qualms about killing someone over and over and over again until he's done looking at them, which Jon rightfully sees as a kind of torture (Darcy isn't exactly morally grey...like at all, he's awful and deserves every bad thing that happens to him tbh). So they've had....several several several arguments and straight up have almost broken up for it in the past. Darcy doesn't actually have an argument against Jon's beyond that he doesn't actually care about people, which only upsets Jon more.
23: Do they have any mutual friends? Mutual enemies?
Answered this one here!

Just outing myself as a Solas hater ahead of time but like, a hater in the way I think he's funny. He's just funny to me. Egg man. Baldy. Baldy bald man with the long face. Condescending hedgehog-personality man. I want to play his cranium like a drum. He delights me.
My inquisitor got along with him fine just, not BFFs. Or Fs even just 'co-workers' kind of vibe. She (as a human mage) felt a bit belittled by the dude and did not appreciate. As for me personally he's fine he's just ... not for me? In personality or face.
Anyway that's the heads up, but y'all can continue enjoying the egg man, please enjoy the return of your blorbo.

not the paper nor the words we waste (but time and lives) - pettiot - Peaky Blinders (TV) [Archive of Our Own]
Post S4 and pre S6, snippets of Thomas Shelby's political career.
Ch 1: On the proposed Measure to Grant the Government Additional Powers to Seize the Children of Narrowboat Dwellers who fail to comply with compulsory School Attendence. A day very early in his career where junior Minister Thomas Shelby must defend the right of families to live together on narrowboats.
.
Note, notwithstanding the 'incomplete' nature, each chapter is substantively a standalone work/one-shot. Tags will update to reflect additional chapters.
.
Tommy Shelby, Various Ministers | (Superficial View of) Politics (as a Forum for Identity Assault), Parliament, Alternative Universe Politics, Public Speaking, The Inherent Humiliation and Sledging Associated with Speaking in Parliament, Slurs, Nastiness, Bullying, Irony <-Deep Deep Irony, Schadenfreude, Fremdscham, Secondhand Embarrassment, Work, Imperialism, Class Issues, Colonial Constructs
.
Writers notes for any interested (also in the tags):
Chapter 1 was drawn from a transcript of a similar argument tabled at Parliament in 1930 (?) I think and again over time (IIRC? read it a few months ago with some searing statements burned into my brain, flinching a little). The politicisation of the lifestyles of people who live and work on narrowboats has a very long and painful history.
I imagine the possibility of the rueful and somewhat bitter realisation when Tommy walks into Parliament to discover his (at that time unknown to any minister) very specific childhood the subject of heated political debate. That he doesn't necessarily want to defend that for personal reasons, but has to recognise that his life wasn't everyone's life, and also that cannot *not* defend that way of living because...well...the alternative he notes in his argument. The consequences of sweeping policy that is typically unconsidered.
I also imagine that suddenly having this in his face in Parliament at a time when he is least mentally stable, could feasibly have contributed further to the breakdown of those boundaries between his war trauma and childhood trauma -> this way in S5 his narrowboat references / childhood trauma references become that increasingly heavy shadow.

wound up deleting that reblog about the musicals bc it was so long I was finding it a legitimate slog to scroll past, but since elisabeth came up: have I ever told you guise my headcanon that franziska and klavier have a little mini-friendship built solely on the fact that they’re both massive fans of it
