Remember kids, many companies who are trying to ‘help’ with the obesity epidemic are payed off by major sugar companies; such as Nestle, Hershey, Mars, General Mills, etc; to say that lipid-fatty foods are the ones causing the epidemic.
While just like anything a heavy amount of fatty foods is not good for you, simple sugars that are pumped into the foods and drinks meant for people and especially children, are way worse for people.
The idea that a diet should contain more Carbs than proteins, dairies, and fats is what causes mass obesity especially within children, tooth decay, gum decay, strokes and chronic heart conditions.
A healthy diet is mainly protein, vegetables, fruits, with limited carbs. There’s a reason once humans started mass farming of rice, wheat, and rye we also saw all these conditions appear.
This isn’t just American consumerism, this is world wide. Even if people talk about how Europe doesn’t have as much sugar in their foods, candy and chocolate companies dominate.
And by allowing these companies to continue, we see an increase of human rights abuses (especially Nestle in Africa) and monopolization.
Nestle is trying to monopolize water, stealing it from reservoirs from Africa and selling it back to the people at extreme mark ups. They’re distilling of this water is leaving these countries with no other option than to by or drink contaminated water.
Coca-Cola is Mexico while yes does not use corn-syrup (one of the most unhealthy inventions by mankind) still holds a monopoly over entire Mexican states. They take the water for their bottling plants leaving people to have to buy Coca-Cola as a way to not die of thirst. This is why Mexico has some of the highest tooth decay rates and childhood obesity rates in the world.
And if you’re the type of person to blame this on GMO’s you don’t know what you’re talking about. All human agriculture is genetically modified that’s how we have most fruits especially citrus plants. But we have grown these plants to have an exuberant increase in sugar to the point that zoos have to stop giving things like apples and bananas to their animals because they’re getting cavities and dying of obesity related heart conditions.
The reason nobody does anything about this is because sugar companies are the biggest companies in the world. They use fake rivalries (such as Pepsi Co. Vs Coca-Cola, Hershey Vs Mars, etc) to make you buy more products and fuel them. Almost all companies are owned by these major brands.

Why Cleaner Diets (Plant Based, Whole Foods, Raw Vegan, etc) Make People Sick & How to Easefully Adopt a Healthier Diet🦋 | Holistic Leveling Up!

Heard of people breaking out, unbalancing their hormones, getting fatigued, losing hair, developing gut issues, or becoming prone to colds having made a perfectly nutritious upgrade to their diet? (BTW I don't mean anything low-carb or high-fat. These don't meet the body's actual needs and lack fiber. They are not wise to practice unless you want fatigue and constipation).
Apart from the psychological and social difficulties of adhering to a healthier diet, there are also the physiological effects. Many people will claim that fully adequate diets made them sick and it must just not work from them because "everybody's body is different." The actual reason for this is that the body's natural detoxification pathways become less encumbered, and especially if drastic switches are made, the rates of cleansing can be too intense (simply eating more nourishing foods over junk foods is cleansing as it supports detoxification rather than inhibiting it). Most people are unaware that we have to take such permanent lifestyle transformations like this gradually, especially if we come from a history of illness or heavy junk food eating. I always recommend using the transitory principles of the Mucusless Diet Healing System (devised by Prof. Arnold Ehret), no matter how you are changing your diet. So, if you are looking to nourish your body as it deserves, seeking to remove processed foods, towards a primarily-fully whole foods, plant-based, home-cooked, mucusless, and/or frugivorous diet, all of the following applies.
Step 1: Understand that everything in nature makes permanent changes with transitory phases. For example, the life cycles of animals and growth of plants. Ehret says that "Nature's mills grind sure but slow." Overnight, cold turkey methods are not reliably effective because they work against nature. What we eat affects us chemically several times per day. To make a change in our foods is to change the chemical environment within us. (Making continual, progressive transformations to diet & lifestyle can look like this).
Step 2: Eliminate the worst mucus-forming foods first. Pus-forming foods (animal based products) are the most obstructing as they decompose in the digestive tract. They create the most powerful cravings and impediments to healing, since they have gummy residues and are fiber-less, which causes them to struggle to be fully eliminated from the digestive tract. If you are already off of animal ingredients, reduce/eliminate rice, gluten pasta, and other sticky grains from your diet. Opt for more coarse, sprouted, and gluten-free grains, like wild rice, millet, and buckwheat (until you transition away from them if that is your goal).
Step 3: Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables, especially the virtually fat-free and starch-free [or starch-free once cooked] ones because they are mucusless (for example, avocados, potatoes, and cassava are mucus-forming). These will help you to adjust to more nourishing meals because they are the best at developing a diverse & balanced gut microbiome. Base your meals around ripe fruits and well-grown vegetables. Have a predominantly or all-fruit breakfast (eg. baked peaches, spiced and stewed apples, smoothie, or fruit salad). Have a large delicious salad as (the bulk of) your dinner. Or follow the principles in the Transition Diet sections of the Mucusless Diet Healing System for most effective results. (For sensitive tummies or those unused to a fiber-rich lifestyle, introduce fiber gradually, focusing on fruit fibers, fresh cold-pressed juices, and smoothies). BTW eat enough! It can take a while to get used to feeling full up on plants. You may feel like you're eating tons, but it's all good :)
Step 4: Assist your body in its detoxification with holistically healthy habits. The most important of these is to undergo colon hydrotherapy. I know it seems strange from some, but since the gut is the foundation to our health and we have a long history in eating so many unsuitable foods don't eliminate completely (as we see with the prevalence of colon cancers and digestive problems), giving that additional cleaning to the intestines is as important as brushing your teeth. After having a natural bowel movement, it is suggested to do a lemon and distilled water enema (once a day to once a week, for best results). Enemas and colonics can also help relieve symptoms caused by lymphatic congestion, like headaches, colds, edema, bloating, toothaches, etc. Other holistic habits to assist cleansing: sweating, exercise & stretching, sauna, sunbathing (start with short periods in sun), salt/herb baths, fresh juice in the morning, breathwork, meditation & mindfulness (reduce stress), laugh more, get fresh air, aromatherapy, herbal teas, rational fasting protocols (begin first with mastering intermittent fasting and proper break-fast), naturally laxative food herbs (prunes, beets, chia seeds, psyllium husk, spinach, dates, etc), sound healing (relaxation), dry brushing, lymphatic massage, use of non-toxic products, etc. Try not to practice extreme things which can "shock" the body into intense detox phases. For example, cold plunging can be unhealthy for people with unregulated nervous systems.
Step 5: Kick out unhealthy cravings naturally. Replace them with whole food plant based, homemade alternatives. Or if you absolutely can not shake them, continue with your regular menus and eat it after your dinner salad. When your cravings are strong, be sure to continue with your colon hydrotherapy routine. Soon, your body will become cleaner and more sensitive to the foods (you will not want to experience their effects) and/or the craving will go away. Your cravings will tend to become healthier, for things like beans and your favorite fruit, rather than pizza and deep fried things.
Step 6: Keep things exciting. People often think eating healthier means more boring meals. Pfft. That's the exact opposite. There's so much intrigue in preparing high quality meals for yourself. And then...Your palate for all the rich plant flavors will expand too. I encourage you to try new fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Try some different beans, nuts, seeds, and grains too (if your goal isn't to be mucusless). Go to farmer's markets, wholesalers, ethnic markets & aisles, big box supermarkets, online specialty organic retailers (for bulk ingredients like dried fruit, herbs, or spices), and even clean convenience store items (eg. I've found unpasteurized tropical fruit pulps for smoothies, with no added ingredients). Research about the cuisines and herbal traditions from your own cultures and others. Often, the meals of the poor citizens were the most nourishing all along. You will discover more flavor combination ideas for salads, dips, sauces, spice blends, and teas. Rediscover that appreciation for simplicity and refreshing flavor in your meals.
Step 7: Enjoy the transition to doing bigger and better and more nourishing things for your body. You will easily become an expert in your own body and empowered to take your health into your own hands via these methods. Sometimes, it will feel arduous to get into the routine of meal prepping and grocery shopping -- but you're absolutely worth that effort. Understand the position you are in. You are making permanent epigenetic changes to the genetic codes you have been passed down. This is a gift that will impact the children you may have, the friends you make, the people you meet, and the generations to come. When we heal ourselves, we are not just healing our individual selves. It is about helping our world which has become so sidetracked with destructive habits & refortifying the influence of the nurturing instinct.

Cooking Au Pif
The expression au pif means 'at random', 'at a rough guess', and 'off the top of your head'. Pif is aFrench slang word for nez – nose. This expression is based on the idea of flair and instinct. So, for this blog entry about cooking, you might say "Pour les ingrédients, j'y vais au pif" -- – I'm adding ingredients at a rough guess!
At this point in my culinary life, as a home cook, it's the way I navigate just about everything in the kitchen. I rarely ever use a recipe. If something is totally new to me -- or requires precise measures of ingredients or a long list of ingredients (as in desserts) -- I will haul out the recipe for quick reference and refer to it to make sure all of the ingredients are included.
However, even for a dessert, it is easy to riff on a recipe once you have the basic formula in hand. Such is the case with rice pudding.

Rice pudding is an easy, quick, and oh-so-delicious concoction. A few simple ingredients come together to produce a cup full of heaven. And what's even better is that it can use up that carryout container of day-old rice hanging out after last night's Chinese takeaway. Details after the jump.
What you'll need:
1 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup rice (any white, milled rice will do. You can use brown whole-grain rice, but that's a different recipe.)
large pinch of kosher salt
4 cups whole milk (or 3 cups of milk and 1 cup heavy cream for an even richer more decadent taste)
1/2 cup sugar
2 capfuls of vanilla (or 1 1/2 teaspoons)
Method:
Bring 1 1/2 cups water and salt to a boil in a heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat.
Once at a boil, add the unrinsed rice. Reduce heat to low; cover. Simmer until water is absorbed, about 10 minutes.
Add milk, cream (if using,) sugar, and vanilla. Increase heat to medium; cook uncovered, stirring occasionally until rice is tender and the mixture thickens to a soft, creamy texture. Somewhere around 30 minutes.
After most of the milk is absorbed, remove the pudding from the heat, and place it in a heat-proof bowl (or if you're going to be fancy individual cups.) Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until serving.
NOTE: If you want to use that leftover rice, start the recipe at the "add milk" step.
Now comes the fun part. Once you've got this really simple recipe down "au pif" -- that is by following your instincts -- you can have some fun such as:
Add raisins during the "add milk" step. Add whatever amount you want. Just don't give Fido a taste if you do, raisins are a non-starter for canines.
Or add dried cranberries at the "add milk" step.
One of my favorites is to grab a chai tea spice mix and add it at the "add milk" stage.
Cinnamon is also a great addition, either cooked in or dusted on top when serving.
Chop up a hunk of chocolate and stir in while the pudding is still hot. Stir until combined and then go ahead with your refrigeration step.
Want to step up the flavor? Grab a can of coconut milk, reducing the amount of milk/cream by the amount of coconut milk in the can.
You can go to the subcontinent and along with the coconut milk substitution use cardamon, and cinnamon, and top it with mangoes.
Many types of fruits are tremendous on top while serving.
Anyway, use your imagination. after that basic recipe, almost anything goes.

Review:  I tend not to give 5 stars to books, as I like to reserve that for books that have a profound effect on me. This book qualifies and let me explain why. It's not a perfect book by any means. There are little errors here and there with spelling and such, plus the story isn't that captivating/page turning thrilling. It can even be a slog at times. So why 5 stars? Because Bogison does what few others can - he really conveys the emotional aspect of his thoughts, his feelings, his mental state, his wrestling with what to do, how to do it, what is right and what is wrong... in big decisions and small. He doesn't just tell the good, but also the bad, he explains the stuff he wrestles with and not everything gets wrapped up nice and clean and with a little bow. When I grabbed this book, I was expecting a story about a Military Police in Vietnam. I was expecting a lot of bar fights, investigations of murder and accidents, regular law enforcement stuff. By the title, I also expected discussion of the Chieu Hoi Program/Force 66 - Luc Luong 66. - Let me be clear, this book has 0 of that... none.. nada... zip zilch... NO. Instead it's a book about an MP who is assigned to correctional facilities in the US (Ft. Riley) and Vietnam (LBJ) and ends up in a very special unit of MP's that is called an Ambush and Recon unit made up of MP's instead of infantryman! He either sits quietly or attacks ferociously even when confronted with cooler heads to learn from and imitate - he does neither. Whether it was the helicopter crash, the tug boat incident, or a handful of other stories included, one can't help but really feel what the author felt as he just did his best, and all too often memoirs like this one are more about snippets of stories, or tell you what happened but forget the human element. This one has a consistent narrative and does well to really put you in his boots, and look through his eyes.

Rice: an essential grain that makes up the basis of many dishes around the world and adds an abundance of nutrients to our diet for centuries. It is versatile and can be made into many dishes, fits any appetite, and caters to anyone. In addition to individuals or personal connections to rice, the grain serves as the primary source of energy for millions around the world. Furthermore, rice has a great impact on society, culture, and in people’s relationship with food. Many places outside the US have cultural ties to their food such as Mexican food where beans, rice, and squash are cemented in the country’s culture. For the Asian diet, rice has made a tremendous impact on wellness as it constitutes “more than 50% of the dietary calories for 520 million people in Asia.” Besides the cultural impact, rice has integrated itself into language as well. In the Thai or Korean lexicon, “kao” and “bap” are synonymous translations of the word “rice” and “food.” This reiterates the importance of rice being more than sustenance, as it can be a cultural impact beyond the healthy human body.
As a Thai person, rice is life. Jasmine rice, in particular, has played a contribution to my diet and my culture. My appreciation of rice stems beyond the basis of many delicious Thai meals and stretches to rice farmers that make up 66% of all farmers in Thailand. With jasmine rice becoming a popular source of grain, the focus on the maximization, optimization, and efficiency of rice production and shipments across the world becomes an immediate byproduct. The consequences of climate change have led to concerns over the future of rice. Without a switch in behavior or the way rice is cultivated, the future of the grain may be altered forever or even lost. A significant challenge that climate change poses is water scarcity which is directly due to the increase of high-temperature waves around the world.
Rice is a temperate crop and grows distinctly within the margins of the equatorial belt where there is heavy rainfall and humidity. Rice cultivation is mainly centered in Asia where “China and India produce about half of the globe’s milled rice, which totals roughly 547 million tons (496 million metric tons) annually.” As the temperature starts to rise due to the excessive amounts of carbon dioxide being trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere, this continually pushes the equatorial belt upwards. Hawaii will no longer be considered the North pole of the belt as the temperature inches upwards. Regions like China and India that produce rice experience this shift as well. According to predictions from scientists, “rice yields will decrease 3.2% for every 1.8F (1.0C) increase in temperature.” If temperatures continue to rise, there will be an increase in rice plant infertility and a decrease in overall grain yield. This is detrimental to those reliant on producing rice and those who consume rice. The quality of the grain drops overall.
To sufficiently grow rice, rice paddies must be flooded and semi-submerged into the water for the crop to sprout and thrive. Similarly to many other grains, rice grows in a monocultural fashion and the practice of rice cultivation has been passed down through years of farm traditions. As other parts of the globe begin to depend on rice, these monoculture agricultural practices are mimicked. However, such practices must be reconsidered since they may be more destructive than useful when rice should not be grown in places that cannot support its growth. For example, in Arkansas, fields are burnt down and then flooded with water to mirror rice paddies which put counteractive measures to grow the grain. There are many disadvantages of putting all eggs in one basket when it comes to monoculture agriculture. Fungal diseases, soil degradation, and water shortages are to name a few. Such water scarcity will also affect the act of flooding fields. When there is a lack of water on hand, farmers may turn to natural water wells like aquifers that will be sucked dry to support the immense amount of water needed for rice growth. These aquifers ultimately take years to regenerate fresh water again.
It is important to note that water scarcity does not only mean less water overall. Water scarcity also means less usable water. When there is an increase in water pollution from urbanization, factory farms, fertilizer runoffs, or saltwater intrusion rice crops may experience growth stunts and infertility. Farmers may experience the production of less nutritionally dense rice as well. As temperature rises, “water scarcity and increasing temperatures may cause rice yields in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam to drop 50% by 2100.” Such water shortages will not only affect crop yield or rice but also farmers that grow rice to support their livelihoods.
Without immediate technical and behavioral change from producers, consumers, and regulators, the fate of rice does not look promising. Furthermore, the social and economic integration that rice grips into many cultures, contexts, and traditions, may be irreversibly damaged if rice diminishes in value and quality. Many Thai elders remind us with a saying at the end of every meal: “Remember to finish every grain of rice on your plate, the farmers worked hard for it.” Rice needs water and without adequate sources due to climate change, there may not even be farmers picking our food, let alone, grain on rice on plates to eat. Water scarcity is weakening rice production from farm to fork.
