A PSA from my D&D Characters in light of the recent election.
I don't live in America, but like so many others we are feeling the ramifications of what happened and how much the right's hate has emboldened facsism and hate across the world.
I can't do much alone and I don't intend to, but hopefully myself and my art can help you find just a bit of hope. Enough, at least, to take care of yourselves and eachother, and enough to find the strength to keep fighting for a brighter future.
Please remember that in a system that wants you gone, caring for yourself and eachother is a form of rebellion they will never be able to take away from us.
We will survive this.

Things are hard. Things will be hard for a while, but you are never alone. This blog was just for art, but as an LGBT adult invested in community and support, I wanted to make this for whoever may need it.
Very simple crochet pattern for a 4 color pride flower in the situation which it may not be safe for an individual to wear explicitly pride items.
I sincerely hope that some of you may find this helpful in some manner. You do not have to give up who you are when you are afraid for your safety. This can be passed along as a simple rainbow/colorful/etc flower in times when you wish to still show pride colors but not necessarily be recognized as such by general public.
Continue beneath the break if interested for steps and pictures
Most pride flags can be simplified into 4 colors, and if not just know you can add a number of extra base magic ring stitches to equal the number of petal colors you desire, though be aware they tend to become quite crowded. For this, let's assume the 4 petal / 4 color standard.
You will need any size hook, any color yarn such as white (which can be colored with marker) or the pride colors of your choosing, no stitch markers and assumed extremely basic experience. These can be made singly or in bulk in a very short time. I have tried to describe the steps in as much detail as I can to allow for readers who may not be proficient at crochet, I apologize if I tend to "over explain" the steps. I will include images.
1: with scrap yarn or a color that will not be the same as the petals, create a magic circle (this can be a little difficult at first but Google is a great help in getting a visual guide)
Tumblr media
In that, place 4 single crochet stitches. Pull the tail and tighten. You can put a slip stitch in the next (what would have originally been the first of the magic circle stitches before you tightened it) and change the color of your yarn to the first petal color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You will have a little circle with 4 stitches in it. In each of these 4 you will repeat these steps exactly, changing the color of the yarn if needed:
ALL WORKING IN ONE OF THE 4 MAGIC RING STITCHES
1. Chain 3
2. In the base magic ring stitch, Double crochet
this is essentially a single crochet but you wrap the yarn around the hook before entering the base magic circle stitch. After you pull through, you will have 3 loops on your hook. Pull through 2 at a time (pull through 2 loops, 2 times) until you are left with a single loop on your hook. This creates length, looking like a chain of vertical stitches.
Wrapping the loop around the hook and after pull through, before finishing the stitch:

3. In the base magic ring stitch, Treble stitch
this is essentially the same a s a double crochet but you wrap an extra loop (for a total of 2 wrapped loops plus the loop of the last stitch) around your hook before entering one of the four magic ring loops. Pull through 2 at a time (pull through 2 loops, 3 times) until you are left with a single loop on your hook. This crates length, looking like a slightly longer chain of vertical stitches.
After pulling through and having 4 loops on the hook, before finishing the stitch:
Tumblr media
4. Double crochet as in step 2, then chain 2 on the end
Tumblr media
5. Bring the yarn back to the base stitch and Slip stitch,
6. In the NEXT of the 4 base magic ring stitches you made, place another slip stitch in which you switch the color of the yarn to the next color, or remain white if you intend to dye, color in the petal using other methods, want to keep the same color, etc.
Tumblr media
Repeat this process in all 4 base magic ring stitches. The end product will look something like this:
Tumblr media
I sincerely hope that some of you may find this helpful in some manner. You do not have to give up who you are when you are afraid for your safety. This can be passed along as a simple rainbow/colorful/etc flower in times when you wish to signal to other LGBT people but not to those who may be anti lgbt.

So, I've been doing some thinking. This could either be a meaningless little ramble that no one will care about, or something seen as really dangerous and putting a target on my back.
So, what if we, those most weary of the far right created an international group of activists in light of the US election? See, the thing is that Donald Trump and Elon Musk are very dangerous, but they are also very incompetent and could lead the government down a path that weakens it. It could create a very unique opportunity to address the far right problem and the US Imperialist system itself in one go. Or maybe I'm being overly ambitious.
This group I have in mind would have several purposes, such as keeping communities safe and protecting people from the harm the far right would do in the name of winning the election. Or, most importantly of all, connecting activists from all over the world and allowing us to dismantle the system as a concrete and united movement. Maybe it's just me being naive and hopeful, but maybe it's also something we've all wanted deep down but been too afraid to initialise? If so, maybe this is a sign to really stand up and start trying to make those connections.

Please help Yahya and his family!
Their campaign is sitting at 5,959/50,000€. This is very little, especially as Yahya's father and little brother are very sick, in need of medication and surgery they cannot afford. Please share their campaign and donate anything you can. Their lives depend on it.

in light of the us election...I'm trying to get a job in scotland (or anywhere in the uk/ireland) and hope to stay there for a couple years at least (if you catch my drift) and if anyone has advice on getting a job in the book publishing industry, or if anyone has experience in that field over there, please let me know. I'm getting my postgraduate degree in Creative Writing and English in the spring and was looking at HarperCollins Glascow, though I would accept any book publishing company (big or small) at this point 🙏🙏🙏

#frankly I am rly suspicious about how much attention this genocide is getting IN AN ELECTION YEAR#and I am not downplaying the atrocities! they are atrocities!#but I am also willing to bet most people in the us did not know or care that the us funds israel#this conflict has been going on for 75 years and suddenly it is forefront of everyone's minds all the time#and yeah it got worse this year! again they are ATROCITIES#but also there have are always atrocities and they never get this kind of attention#even the blm protests stopped getting covered eventually#there are no college campus protests about all the things the cia has straight up admitted to are there?#there is no ongoing coverage of any other refugees or any other genocides or the oil situation#nobody is out here going 'we can't vote for the dems bc that's basically supporting pipelines thru indigenous lands'#or 'bc that's basically supporting the way the admin just gave up on protecting us against covid'#now I'm not saying I think hamas was backed by russia or anything#but I DO think that some folks who have a vested interest in a trump presidency have been helping keep this top of everyone's mind#it's just far too convenient that we have an issue that separates leftists from dems#that nobody can brush aside bc they sound like they're agreeing with genocide#and it's getting CONSTANT coverage for a YEAR#IN AN ELECTION YEAR#do you remember in 2016 when people were like 'a woman sure but not THAT woman'#and a vote for the dems was a vote for every awful thing the clintons had ever supported#and then it turned out tumblr had been full of election interference plants#does anyone remember that??#anyway russia would be stupid NOT to take advantage of how easy it is to upset people about this

Okay so we have this huge problem with forgetting about everything that’s happened by the time the next election rolls around so I’d like to keep a running list of things as they’re happening to help remind us when the 2026 midterms roll around. And please add to this if I’ve missed anything.
January 2025:
Donald Trump pardoned 1500 people who participated in the insurrection of January 6th, including those who violently assaulted and nearly killed police officers.
Donald Trump has declared that trans and non-binary people don’t exist.
Donald Trump is working towards firing everyone in the government who isn’t loyal to him.
Donald Trump has effectively fired everyone who he claims is an “illegal DEI hire” …whatever that means
Donald Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization
Congress are trying to pass the Laken Riley Act to, effectively, round up every immigrant in the country, including LEGAL immigrants
Donald Trump removed caps on prescription drug prices.
Donald Trump wants to withhold federal aid to help combat the LA wildfires and help the thousands of people who have been displaced and lost their homes.
The Department of Justice has put a hold on all civil rights cases.
Donald Trump has cut off aid to Ukraine.
Laken Riley Act has been passed by Congress and is awaiting being signed into law by the President. Here’s the breakdown of the votes: House Senate
Donald Trump purged a dozen inspectors general from the federal government and intends to replace them all with people loyal to him.
Pete Hegseth has been confirmed as Secretary of Defense. Here’s the breakdown of how the Senate voted. Note, it was a 50-50 tie that JD Vance had to break.
Tumblr media
Donald Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Colombia after the Colombian government turned away two airplanes carrying migrants. Columbia has retaliated by imposing a 25% tariff of its own on US goods.
Donald Trump has also issued a travel ban for Colombian citizens and revoked visas from Colombian migrants coming to the US.
Donald Trump has now backed off the tariffs and other threats against Colombia. Note for future reference: this comes just hours after Trump made the threat in the first place and he and the Colombian president got into a big fight on social media.
Nearly 1,000 migrants were arrested mostly in Chicago on January 26th by ICE and ICE has been told to meet a quota of 75 migrant arrests every day.
Donald Trump rescinded an anti-discrimination executive order from Lyndon B. Johnson
Donald Trump signed an executive order banning trans people from serving in the military and also ordered that people who were discharged for refusing to get mandatory vaccines be reinstated.
Donald Trump has frozen all federal grants to institutions.
After pressure from state governments, activist groups, and the general public, the White House has rolled back some of the freezes on federal funding.
Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) has proposed a change to the 22nd Amendment to allow Donald Trump, specifically, to serve a third term.
Donald Trump is trying to fire all federal employees who don’t want to return to the office (work-from-home saves the federal government millions of taxpayer dollars in overhead). He also sent an email to federal employees saying that if they’re not loyal to him, they’ll be investigated.
Donald Trump has signed the Laken Riley Act into law.
Donald Trump has said he doesn’t think Palestinians should be allowed to return to Gaza but instead should be sent to Egypt and Jordan.
Native Americans have been targeted by ICE raids.
Donald Trump has ordered undocumented immigrants to be sent to Guantanamo Bay
Donald Trump signed an executive order to expand federal funding for school choice programs. [x]
Donald Trump signed an executive order saying that he will deport visa-holding students who protest against Israel. [x]
Donald Trump has blamed DEI for the plane crash that killed 67 people in Washington D. C. [x]
Donald Trump signed an executive order that schools should no longer teach about racism and discrimination. And that schools should only teach history that is “patriotic” [x]
Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna wants to add Donald Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore. [x]
Trump’s Department of Education has called book bans a hoax. [x]
The Department of Justice has barred certain news outlets from receiving information from the Pentagon. [x]
The Trump administration has fired multiple FBI officials who investigated the January 6th insurrection. [x]
February-June 2025
I’ll keep adding to this list as new things come up and, again, please feel free to add anything I’ve missed. I know that in this world of constant news it’s easy to forget, so let’s give our future selves a little help!
