. #ASANAMUSINGS Day 5 #splits F L E X I B I L I T Y 🤸🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️ All morning long, I was thinking, I’m not going to be able to make this post until way into the day, maybe late pm, where I’m 120% stretched out, ready to go. I was feeling like complete shit yesterday and it was crows pose, strength, &today is split, not my specialty anymore 😂. So these last couple of days I have had to adapt. How flexible can you be when your vibe is just off... I feel like this and strength goes very hand and hand. You need the mental strength to get through those times. You have to learn to be flexible through change. I’ve felt horrible the last couple days, adapt, let’s get shit done. 👏🏽 As you can see the struggle on my face, I am feeling better. #ASANAMUSINGS Day 12 Headstand is not my strength, I barely practice it because I’m tooooo scared to fall down. I do it only with the wall right behind me on during a yoga class when the teacher is helping me. But I actually love how my body feels when I do a headstand(or half in this case😅) ...as much as I loved doing my first yoga challenge!! 💕 it was not just about the different poses but mostly the part about the different purpose every day connected to the poses, the idea of taking 10 mins every day to analyze a different aspect of my life/personality, which I would have not normally considered otherwise. And I loved reading other participants experiences and opinions, it makes me reflect and open my mind. What is inspiring me lately

Sure, I’m an introvert and I enjoy periods of solitude to rejuvenate my energy and be with my own thoughts. But I continually look outside of myself for inspiration. I need bits and pieces of the world around me to inspire my writing, to inspire my yoga practice, to inspire my perception.

What’s inspiring me lately:

My mother. She called me from the middle of nowhere somewhere beyond Gaffney while she drove through South Carolina yesterday, fiercely determined to chase the solar eclipse in all its totality. And she called me afterward to tell me it was the most astounding thing she had ever seen. I love how she revels in nature’s details. In two minutes of a phenomenon.

@tiny.kirsty. This young yogini has the most gorgeous, bendy, strong and graceful yoga practice I’ve seen around Charlotte. She sets an example for creative, self-loving energy. Especially today’s post about body image. She writes: “Be yourself, dress the way you want, be confident and learn to love your body in all places and all forms. Learn to show love to other people, to embrace that every single person is unique and perfect in their own way.”

The late Marina Keegan. I recently finished rereading her posthumous book “The Opposite of Loneliness” and her writing style is such an overwhelming blend of quippy, self-deprecating, honest, insightful and profound thoughts. I’m hoping to take some time to sit down soon and try my hand at an essay that emulates her style. That’s one of the greatest ways to learn. 

In one of her final essays, she wrote: “What we have to remember is that we can still do anything. We can change our minds. We can start over. Get a post-bac or try writing for the first time. The notion that it’s too late to do anything is comical. It’s hilarious. We’re graduating college. We’re so young. We can’t, we MUST not lose this sense of possibility because in the end, it’s all we have.”
