Money Ties (Jungkook Love Story || Pt.3)
Pt.2 || Pt.4
Your parents have worked hard to get to the top and have made sure to teach you everything you need to know to be successful in this business: from tough but lucrative financial decisions, down to the right ball gown for any given banquet. A promising and extravagant future awaits you- that is, if you agree to one teensy detail...
Son of Mr.Jeon Sr. and heir to June Company, Jeon Jungkook is an immature playboy with nothing to offer a woman but good looks and a crap ton of money, and he stands to inherit much MUCH more, so long as you both enter into the arranged marriage contract that was drawn up before the pair of you were even born.
You're more than willing to try, but you're not sure you'll be able to stand each other long enough to inherit a single penny...

Recap: "I hope you know you didn't ruin anything. My husband and I feel very strongly, even more so now, that you're the perfect fit fr our family." Your heartbeat picks up in your chest; you were sure you blew your chance to bits, but here she is, offering it all on a silver platter for you.
Tumblr media
On your way back to your suite, you try calling your dad three different times, and each time the calls go straight to voicemail. For the most part, you've gotten used to getting his voicemail and can even recite it word for word- but right now, him being here for you is crucial. Even though your mom couldn't make the time to actually be here, at least she shows she cares, even if it is through blowing up your phone every hour; at least it's something. She even helped pick out the gifts for the Jeons: gold cuff links for Mr.Jeon, a lovely pair of jade earrings for Mrs.Jeon, and a silver chain with a medallion fo Jungkook. All your life, your dad said he couldn't wait to be there for when you would finally sign the agreement that they'd spent years tailoring and planning, only to cancel last minute because of work. Well, if he wants to leave you out in the cold to figure this out by yourself, then you're gonna do it your way.
Once inside the suite, you peel off the pretty little outfit you'd carefully put together for tea and toss it onto the bed, switching into a pair of baggy sweats and an oversized sweater, and the warmest socks you packed. You're finally going to dive into the manila envelope. You plop yourself into bed and take out everything, ignoring the initial feeling of being overwhelmed at the sight of the busy papers, looking past the legal jargon to find the bare bones of it all. In a matter of twenty minutes, you're completely locked in; you highlight, circle, annotate, even cross out some parts. You slowly realize how little your parents are settling for in this "partnership", as your dad likes to call it. According to this contract, their precious daughter is only worth 15% of the 'Jeon Empire', while Jeon Jungkook will be the majority owner of June Company, including hotels, restaurants, as well as owning shares in your parents' company and other smaller endeavors. Well, that just won't do. If you're going to be committing yourself to a marriage, it's for the long haul. All of your adolescent and teenage years were spent avoiding boys like the plague for fear of getting too attached and ruining your parents' dream for your life. Even your college years have been all about work and climbing up the ladder to get to this point- 15% is horse shit.
After three agonizingly long hours, the contract looks like a Frankensteined version of itself; torn apart and put back together. You hold it up in triumph- you almost want to take a picture just for the memories. "Proud of you," B/f/n says through a loud yawn. You had to call her about an hour in for moral support. "No, don't be tired. You can't be tired. It's still early!" "Hun, it's 3AM here." "Oh right..." You sigh, stuffing the contract back in the envelope, "I forgot about the time difference... ugh, I'm just so bored here. I have nothing to do." "Girl, you're at a whole luxurious hotel, all expenses paid- if I were you, I'd be doing a spa day, visiting the restaurants, drinking up all their liquor- you just don't like being alone." You roll your eyes. She's right, of course, but you're not gonna give her any validation. "I guess I'll just try to get some sleep...I have a big day tomorrow." "What time are you meeting them?" "We're meeting for brunch at 11." "First it was 'high tea' and now Brunch," She echoes with a sleepy smile, "How classy." You roll your eyes, "Good night, B/f/n," You laugh. She waves lazily and then you hang up the phone. "Well, since this is an all expenses paid hotel..." You bite your lip and look over at the door, "...I'm gonna go use their copier."
Tumblr media
AT 6AM, your alarm goes off scaring you violently awake. It had taken you hours to finally fall asleep in the first place. You'd tried to close your eyes after your face time, but ended up tossing and turning until 2AM. This jet lag is something else. Or maybe it was stress for today; I mean, you are preparing to sign a contract to marry a man you hardly know (and also kinda hate), which was essentially created when you weren't even a thought in your parents' mind yet, which will, in turn, lead to lifelong stability for you and your family as well as further growth for your family's businesses so everything is kind of on your shoulders and will all fall apart if you don't do your respective part- oh God, you might have a panic attack and you haven't even gotten out of bed yet.
You speed through your morning routine so that you can look over your edits again, though as soon as you sit down, your phone begins to buzz with all your incoming notifications. You scroll through, ignoring some texts, answering a few emails- and then you come across one from your dad from an hour ago. You take a sip of your coffee as you open up the message and, when you do, you almost spit the coffee out against the pretty clean white hotel wall. Staring at you is the "finalized contract" (or so it's entitled) that your dad made 'edits' on for you to print out and sign. You look over the entire thing and with every sentence you read, you feel the anger rising in you. The "edits" he made didn't even make the deal that much better for you, not to mention, how can your dad flake on you in regards to coming on this trip, ignore your calls and texts, but still have the nerve to send me this shitty contract at the asscrack of dawn on the DAY OF the supposed signing? Fuck that. You're gonna send them your draft and your parents can cry about it. You're done doing things their way. You open up your laptop and quickly go to your saved files, opening up YOUR finalized version that you'd scanned and re-typed. You cue it up in a message and type in Mr. and Mrs.Jeon's email addresses, along with their lawyer's email. For a moment, you hesitate, letting the mouse hover over the 'send' button, but then you count how many times your parents have made you feel completely alone in just the duration of this trip, plus every time you've had to make yourself small for others to be big- "Fuck it." You hit send and then close your laptop to put your outfit together for brunch.

Brunch is held on the balcony at their hotel restaurant, Juniper. The vibe is definitely upper class, and you see it's bustling with guests. "Hello, Miss; will you be dining alone?" The hostess asks. You shake your head, "No, actually- I'm with the Jeon party." Her eyes widen for a second before she bows, "Oh yes, Ms.L/n, allow me to show you to your table. You smile and bow in return, feeling slightly embarrassed that she clearly felt the urge to kiss your ass a little extra just for being associated with the Jeons. She leads you around the corner to a wall of windows, much like the ones on the roof top when you'd gone for tea. As she opens the double doors, you see Mr. and Mrs.Jeon sat at a table straight ahead, Jungkook's back facing you. Your heart starts beating rapidly in your chest; it's happening. This is it. The entire ride here, you were psyching yourself up saying you'd be confident and strong and that if they didn't like the changes you'd made to the contract, they could kiss your ass- but right now, you feel your legs might turn to Jello. "Y/n!" Mrs.Jeon calls out excitedly, getting out of her seat and running over to you. Mr.Jeon and Jungkook look over in your direction; one giving you a big smile and the other...with a rather unreadable expression on his face. You smile and bow, "Good morning everyone." She politely dismisses the hostess and guides you to the table, where Mr.Jeon and Jungkook are standing to greet you. "Annyeonghasimnikka," You bow again. "So polite, isn't she Jungkook?" Mr.Jeon says, lightly hitting Jungkook's shoulder. You bow slightly, "Hello, Jungkook." He nods, "Hey." "Please, sit," Mrs.Jeon says. You immediately notice that Mr.Jeon is wearing the cuff links you'd gotten him, and Mrs.Jeon is wearing the earrings; Jungkook seemed to be the only one not wearing his gift. Figures. "We haven't ordered just yet so you have some time to think about what you want." "Oh that's okay, I'll take whatever you recommend." "Oh, I love that. I'm getting you my favorite- the praline french toast is so good paired with the fritata and...the eggs benedict with salmong." "Sounds good," You laugh, finding it endearing how excited she is. You wonder if she ever chews Jungkook out like your mom does to you You spend most of the time talking to Mr. and Mrs.Jeon; basic chit chat about life, how the food was, and other pleasantries- until Mr.Jeon receives a call and excuses himself from the table for a moment. Then, Mrs.Jeon says she wants to check in with the chef about something really quickly, leaving you and Jungkook at the table alone. You take a sip on your mimosa and then turn to him, "How are you, Jungkook?" He straightens up a bit and clears his throat, "I'm fine. How about yourself?" "I'm good...I- I'm hopeful that today's meeting goes well." He nods slowly, seeming deeply pensive about what you've said, "Well, it should be quite lucrative for you if it does." His tone is almost bitter-sounding. You furrow your brows, not liking how he's making it seem that you'd be the only one benefiting. "Well, according to the contract, it should be quite beneficial for the both of us, wouldn't you say?" "Oh, please. What are pennies to bills," He scoffs. "I mean, considering you can't even get a penny of mommy and daddy's money unless you get married, I'd say we're in the same boat," You lean back, deciding you're done with the niceties. He wants to be a jerk? Two can play. He glares at you, knowing you're right but, of course, refusing to admit it. "Don't you ever get tired?" "Of what?" He asks, face scrunching in annoyance. "Of the stick up your ass?" You smirk, crossing one leg over the other as your swirl your glass from the stem. "This whole thing is fucked and you know it," He says, throwing himself against the backrest of the chair in defeat. You nod slowly and thoughtfully, "Maybe, but as I always says, 'Anything worth having is worth fighting for.'" He rolls his eyes, "Whatever."
"Sorry, Kids. I just had to get that done before I forgot. Is your father still not back yet?" Mrs.Jeon asks, sitting back down at the table and looking around. "No, I guess he's still on the call," You say, "He sounds like my dad." Mrs.Jeon laughs, "Well, birds of a feather flock together." "I'm sorry everyone- Y/n, I just got off the phone with your father. Goodness, it's such a shame he couldn't come," Mr.Jeon says, a big smile on his face as he sits down. "You- you spoke to my dad?" "I sure did. I'd called him this morning about the finalized contract he'd sent me last night but he didn't get back to me until now since he was on the golf course." It takes everything in you to keep your eye from twitching. The golf course. Priorities. You plaster a fake smile on your face and clear your throat, "Actually, Mr.Jeon, the one he sent you is not the finalized version." He looks up confused, "No?" You shake your head and reach into your purse for the crisp new manila envelope, "I had to make some edits of my own." They all look at each other and then back at you, "Oh- alright," Mr.Jeon takes the envelope and he and Mrs.Jeon look over it together. You can practically see the gears in their heads turning, meanwhile, Jungkook is looking at you with his eyes narrowed wondering what it is you're up to. "Y/n," Mr.Jeon laughs nervously, "This is...substantially more than what your father and I had previously discussed." You nod, "Oh yes. 40% more, to be exact." "Mhm..." Mr.Jeon hands the paper to Mrs.Jeon who continues reading. "I believe the 15% we'd originally agreed upon was quite generous as even a fraction of the money we receive from the various businesses would be quite a profit for you." You purse your lips as you listen, trying your best to be as respectful as possible, "Yes, that's true. It would be quite a lot, however, I think it's reasonable to divide assets 50/50 between spouses, seeing as how I'll not only be a part of June Company itself but also be behind the scenes as a wife. Not to mention, when I have kids, there is no longer incentive for Jungkook to stay married to me, is there?" Mr.Jeon looks at his wife, who is looking back at him with the same concerned expression. "Y/n, our motivation for having you marry our son isn't to...produce an heir," Mr.Jeon says, "It's to help him mature and give him something to work for." "Dad, I don't need to get married to mature. I'm capable and I'm ready to run the company. Please, just let me show-" "You shut your mouth. With all the debt you've gotten me in with your incessant partying, the charges in property damage-" Mr.Jeon's face is turning more and more red, while Jungkook just looks away. He's completely quiet as he his father continues hurling criticisms and but Mrs.Jeon puts her hand on his chest to keep him from saying any more. "Mr.Jeon, I want to be able to help all of you- but I think both I and Jungkook are sacrificing a lot, and a large portion of that sacrifice is on yours and my parents' behalf. He and I will both be turning our lives around for the sake of our families. I just want to make sure we're both getting what we need from this." Jungkook turns slowly to look at you, his expression softening, along with his father's. Mr.Jeon is silent for a little while. "I understand if this is something you and your family cannot get behind and if that's the case, we can rip up this contract and put it all behind us, no harm done- but if you all want this as much as we do, these are my conditions," You say as gently as possible. You glance at Jungkook, whose eyes are fixed on you- causing for you to quickly look back at Mr. and Mrs.Jeon. "Well...I think we'll need some time to think this over. I'll have my lawyer look this over and we'll let you know what we've decided by tonight. How's that sound?" Mr.Jeon asks, giving you a tired smile. You nod, "That sounds just fine, Mr.Jeon. Take all the time you need."
You grab your bag and stand up and everyone else follows suit, "I had a lovely brunch. Thank you so much for putting it together for us to have this meeting." You turn to Jungkook, "I hope we're able to move forward together," You say with a bow and, for the first time, he bows in return. "Please have a good rest of your day," Mrs.Jeon says, stepping forward and hugging you goodbye. "And as always, please let us know if you need anything," Mr.Jeon says with a genuine expression. You nod, "I will."
Tumblr media
Of course, not two hours since your brunch with the Jeons, and your dad was already blowing up your phone. How interesting the way that works, isn't it? Your dad only calls when you don't do things exactly as he asks. You sent every single call to voicemail until they stopped coming in altogether- though he'll most likely call right before bed. You'd spent the rest of the day out and about near the hotel; something you thought you wouldn't get a chance to do this time around. It helped to get your mind off things for a minute. You'd even gone to a cute little cafe and answered some of your work emails (you can't ever completely disconnect, though it doesn't hurt to at least have a change of scenery).
By the time you come back to your suite, it's already 8PM, though of course you're not even a bit tired, so you decide to bother B/f/n for a bit. "Mm...hello?" "Hello," You practically sing into the phone, "did I wake you?" "Mhm..." "Well, wake up- I gotta tell you what happened today." "Y/n, look, I promise I'm interested but I do not have the mental capacity to receive any new information right now..." "You're no fun." "Hey, I already told you, you have other options for entertainment." "The spa's closed right now, I've already gone to the eateries inside this hotel, I've used the free wifi and even the copier. I've done everything, there's nothing left, B/f/n," You whine. "Not everything..." She says, sleepily eyeing you. You instantly know whatb she means and you violently shake your head. "Nope. Uh-uh. I am NOT getting a drink by myself." "Oh come on, if you wear one of those skimpy little dresses you packed, I promise you won't be alone for long." You narrow your eyes at her, "How do you know I packed skimpy dresses?" "You just told me," She smirks. How does she do that? "And what am I supposed to do if a man walks up to me and offers me a drink thinking he's gonna get some?" "Oh come on, you're not even engaged yet. Live a little." You roll your eyes, "Clearly, you're very sleep deprived and that's why you're talking crazy. Call me when you're rested." "Sounds like a plan," She says before abruptly hanging up the call.
You sit and look over at your suitcase, contemplating your next move... "I guess a drink won't hurt."
Tumblr media
The hotel bar is nicely tucked away on the first floor, a small ways away from the lobby. It's decorated with gold trim and pretty golden flowers along the cherry-wood walls. The vibe is definitely dark and sultry- you suppose you dressed appropriately: off the shoulder a-line mini dress and some simple strappy heels. You put a lot of effort into looking effortless tonight. It's not as packed as you expected, though it's definitely not empty; people are sat at various tables, holding conversations, the occasional stray laugh reaching your ears over the soft music. You'd hyped yourself up before coming down, saying you weren't gonna worry about who was or wasn't looking at you; you were just going down to have a drink and then go right back up- but when you realize the room is full of mostly men, you hesitate to take a seat. "Welcome in- can I get you anything, Miss?" The bartender, a kind-looking older gentleman, asks when he sees the lost puppy look on your face. "I-uhm, yes. I'll take an espresso martini, please?" "Of course." You set your clutch down on the bar and then take a seat. "Meeting anyone?" The bartender asks. You laugh sheepishly, "No, just...wanted to get out of my room." "I suppose that's a good thing," He says. You furrow your brows, wondering if he's gonna take the opportunity to be creepy, "And why is that?" "Because that young man over there has been watching you since you walked in," He says, nodding behind you. Your heart flutters a bit, and you feel flattered by the possibility of someone actually checking you out.
You turn slowly to where he'd nodded and scan for a moment before finally seeing him. How did I not notice him before? "That's the hotel owner's son, you know," The bartender adds. Jungkook's expression is a bit unreadable, but he's definitely looking at you. His eyes are completely fixed. You turn around quickly and bite your lip. You can't leave now, he'll know it was because of him and you can't stand the idea of him feeling like he drove you out of that bar. No way. You straighten out your back, forcing your body to relax as much as possible- or at least have the appearance of relaxation. The man puts your drink in front of you, and you gingerly take your first sip. "How can you drink those things?" Jungkook's unmistakeable voice says from right behind you, causing you to choke and spit some of your drink back into the glass. Your eyes widen in horror. "Bless you," He smirks. He looks over at the bar tender and signals holding up two fingers, to which the man nods. "Jungkook," His name feels so strange on your tongue; up until this trip, you've just refered to him as 'the Jeon's son', and using his name still feels so...intimate, somehow. He leans back in his seat, looking at you as though he's sizing you up, "And who, might I ask, did you dress up for tonight?" "Myself." You say, side-eyeing him. He's very brazen for someone you've only just met again after so many years. "Hm." "Hm, what?"
"Oh nothing...it's just, well, humans are performative beings, you know? Everything we do, whether consciously or not, is to attract." "Oh? And you're saying this to imply that I'm trying to attract someone?" You take another sip of your drink, trying to hide your unexpected nervousness. He shrugs, a cocky smile spreading across his face. "And who do you think I'm trying to attract, Jungkook? You?" You scoff. "Hey, you said it." You blush slightly and look down at your drink, your fingertip running up and down the stem of the glass. He definitely smells like he's been drinking- a lot- but you also catch hints of musk and wood- even burnt cinnamon. Shitty men shouldn't smell this damn good. You glance down at his neck and squint your eyes; is that-? "You're wearing the necklace?" He furrows his brows for a second in confusion before the realization sets in, "Oh- yeah. I look good, don't I?" His lips turn up into a coy smile. You clear your throat and shrug, "I think I'm just good at picking out jewelry." He chuckles and shakes his head, "Your disdain for me is quite amusing." "Almost as amusing as your insistence on flirting with me." "Well, don't get too flattered, you might fall in love." "Ha," You scoff. The bartender sets two shots down in front of Jungkook, who then slides one over to you. "What's this for?" You ask, immediately suspicious. "To celebrate." "Celebrate what?" "Us, of course." "Oh please," You roll your eyes, "Just the other day you were yelling at me and accusing me of attacking you, then you implied that I was some sort of gold digger and was just trying to mooch off of you." He nods thoughtfully, "Yes, that's true, I said some pretty...crass things. I suppose I should apologize for that. As far as the shot, well- I've decided to accept it." "Accept...what?" "The fact that this train is leaving with or without our 'yes', so we may as well enjoy the ride along the way, right?" As he says this, his eyes fall slightly, and only for a moment. You almost wonder if you'd seen it at all. "And what's caused this change of heart?" "Truthfully...this entire arrangement has been hanging over my head all my life. It felt like a noose slowly getting tighter and tighter. But seeing my father so stunned by your demands...it felt like my first deep breath in a while." You're surprised at how genuine Jungkook is being right now, though before you're able to respond to what he's just said, your phone buzzes in your clutch. "Excuse me," You say. It's a text message from Mr.Jeon. You quickly swipe it open and your mouth drops in shock. 𝙼𝚛.𝙹𝚎𝚘𝚗: 𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘, 𝚈/𝚗- 𝙸 𝚑𝚘𝚙𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚖𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜𝚗'𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞. 𝚆𝚎'𝚟𝚎 𝚍𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚍𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚍 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚊𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝. You look up back up at Jungkook, who simply picks up the shot and holds it up in the air, "To the ride." Your shocked expression turns into a smile, and all you can think to do is pick your shot up as well. "To the ride."

the flowers
this is a snippet from the famous dc!au that started with The Greatest Hits [read here]  you don’t have to read it but a lot of things would make sense if you do!
it isn't until about a year after you've wrapped the film and a few months after it's premiered that you find out the truth. And it does send you for a loop. The matter of it, and how you end up finding out.
You are sitting at a table for two. Your date for the evening? Delores. She had texted that she was working a job where you were and wanted to meet up and chat. You were so down, already terribly missing her even though you hadn't stepped on another set yet.
And that's what you talked about at first. How scared you were that now the movie was out, you were getting offers left and right. But deep down you didn't know if you were good enough. In your mind you thought that your success came from a lot of things and mainly one of them being luck.
You have no prior experience with acting. And now everyone is acting like you do because you were able to do well in one movie. You wanted to make sure you weren't a one hit wonder.
Delores of course talked you down from all this. She told you how good the movie was, how good you were for a first-time actor. She even offered you some contacts that knew of acting coaches.
Then you turned the conversation on her, which she was very scarce about. Apparently the film she's working on had her sign an NDA. She couldn't even tell you what kind of makeup she used on set today. It was that tight lipped.
So you moved on from that and asked her about her life. Delores is the proud mom of two cats (Ginger and Lemon). And they go with her everywhere. She brought them to set a couple of times when there weren't a lot of crew around. You liked Lemon the most because he liked getting head pats from you.
When the food came you two still managed to talk. You didn't realize how much you could talk while eating but with Delores it was normal. She's family.
The night wrapped up and Delores headed to the bathroom. It's when she came back and talked about wrap day that started this whole endeavor.
"Oh and those flowers you got me! I tell ya no one has ever gotten me something so colorful before." she smiles.
You can't help to laugh, "You're telling me it was better than Jason's?"
And she snickers to herself. Then she looks at you, as if expecting you to join her. When you don't her face drops a little.
"Those weren't for me," she says confusedly.
And if she was confused, so were you. What did she mean? You watched Jason hand them over to her the same time that you did. You were kinda jealous at how good his bouquet looked compared to yours, though you never said anything to him about it.
"Delores, I watched him hand it to you! They were for you, it was wrap day." you say.
She shakes her head and begins laughing with herself. But you're not laughing because you honestly want to know why she thinks those flowers weren't for her, and who she thought they were for.
Delores places her hand over yours on the table. And with a smile she just pats it, once then twice. You are utterly confused.
"He gave the flowers to me yes, but they weren't for me. I think you should just ask him." she puts simply.
And with that she's up out her chair and putting her coat on. You are slow to join her, and even slower to put your coat on. Your mind just couldn't wrap around it. Jason gave her flowers he was gonna give someone else? It kind of rubbed you the wrong way.
The two of you walk out of the restaurant and out on the street. It's midday and the paps aren't around which you're thankful for. Delores drove here so she said earlier on and wanted to pick up a few things after for work the next day. You sent your driver a text that you were finishing up and ready to be picked up.
You turn to her.
"Wait how'd you know that they weren't for you?" you asked finally.
"When I got home that night, there was a bouquet waiting for me at the door, signed with his name and a thank you note." she answers.
"Huh." you sound.
Delores smiles, "It was good to see you. Keep in touch yeah?"
She wraps her arms around you and you return the action. You wished that you could hire her as your personal makeup artist but you know she would only be tied down. She's off to do great things with great people. You couldn't stop that.
"I will, and whenever your NDA is up tell me the movie you're working on." you joke.
The two of you unravel from each other and give a few more goodbyes. And then she's walking off to her car. You see your driver a across the street. So with caution you look both ways before crossing and getting into the backseat.
"Where to?" Mike asks.
"Uh, I think I'm headed back to my place." you answer.
"Home it is." he says.
And then he's driving off. In the backseat you pull out your phone from your pocket. Your fingers work faster than you can think. Unlock your phone. Messages. Jason Todd.
You begin to type out a question but backtrack and delete your words. Maybe you should just leave it alone. It was his business after all. But then, you think, why would Delores tell you to ask him? Your fingers start typing again.
you: Hey Todd, how's heartthrob life going?
What you weren't expecting was a fast response. You heard it from your agent that he was already in meetings for other projects. It wouldn't be long before he's shooting again.
him: good now that I know you consider me a heartthrob.
you: shut up. I was JOKING.
him: it's okay. I think you're cool too. What's up?
you: I just met up with Delores for lunch.
him: nice!! but don't think you can steal her away from me.
you: hard to steal someone that already likes me more than you but ok. and I had a question
him: go ahead
you: so you got her flowers right?
him: you were there when I gave them to her
you: yes but she told me that those weren't for her. she actually couldn't stop laughing about it too.
him: oh
you: oh?
him: I don't know what to say
you: I mean it's fine if it's private. you don't have to tell me anything. but I was just wondering.
him: wondering what?
you: who were the flowers for if they weren't for Delores?
him: she didn't tell you?
you: nope said I should ask you.
him: they were for someone else on set.
you: Jason why would you give her flowers meant for someone else????
him: bc I'm an idiot and I saw you going to give her flowers and needed to beat you to it.
you: you wanted to one up me so bad you made yourself look like an idiot?
him: something like that.
you: nice hehehe

PARTIES: @longislandcharm TIMING: The A few months before Winter arrived in Wicked's Rest SUMMARY: Winter is performing a ritual she found in her great grandmother's journal. A ghost appears. He is not happy. WARNINGS: fire, gore, blood tw
Some notes: Kind of short and I meant to post this when I first joined but I'm a dumb. Thanks to Addie for reminding me.
“Are we rolling?” Winter looked up from the table she’d set up in their filming location that day, her eyes bright from the light of the flames flickering all over the place. She was just lighting the last candle she’d brought in to help give the old warehouse some ambience and was ready to get this scene going but the crew was lagging for some reason. Her patience was wearing thin but the girl kept her cool when the director waved her off or else she feared she might run another one off…something she’d been warned about by the studio. Apparently she needed an attitude check. Rolling her eyes, she took another look around to make sure everything was perfect before bringing in their guest for the night. Trying something new meant keeping things hush, under wraps, in case something went wrong during set up or she felt that things wouldn’t work but Winter was definitely excited about this one. “Guys, we’ve had three successful seasons and we’ve never thought to do a ritual before? I’m surprised we’ve lasted this long.”
The words were a tad biting, yes, but everyone could feel the enthusiasm dripping from every syllable she uttered and they all seemed to relax more as they realized their star was concentrating more on the set than them. The atmosphere was less tense than usual as Winter moved through the charred remains of the abandoned ACME warehouse in town. The place had burned down many years ago and she’d been asked by a girl around her age to help contact her father who had perished in the fire. Meeting her early that day, seeing how hopeful the woman was, and knowing that she herself was a daddy’s girl did nothing to dissuade her from doing just what the girl asked…even if she couldn’t actually do it. No, it only made Winter work harder at making this a special episode for the grieving daughter.
The candles were normal but there was something extra that Winter had found in a book that once belonged to her great grandmother. Specific symbols littered the ground around the table, ones that she had drawn herself with white chalk in hopes to make the place look even spookier. Winter was proud to say she had succeeded in that endeavor. The book that had displayed these symbols was sitting open to a page with a funky little chant to go along with the ambience.
“Winter!” Oh, it seemed the director was finally ready. She looked up from one of the symbols on the ground, her hand paused over one of the lines of chalk. “Yes, Brookes?” The director waved his hand again, indicating that he was rolling the cameras, and her smile faltered. If the man didn’t get his head out of his ass and use his words he would soon find out why the other directors had left. “Brookes, has anyone ever told you that the strong, silent type doesn’t do it for anyone anymore? I’m gonna need some actual words from you if you’re sticking around.” She left it at that, though, as she stood and stood on her mark a couple of feet away from the table. She was so ready for this.
The cameras were rolling, the crew was quiet, and Winter put on the sad smile she reserved for the people she was trying to “help.” It was almost too easy to slip into the character she had portrayed for three seasons but the candlelight helped emanate the warmth she was trying to extend towards her guest as the woman slowly walked into the room. “Hi Lisa.” Lisa’s fear and hesitance was something that most people showed while on this show and Winter had perfected her soothing tone for just this moment. “Welcome.”
Twenty minutes passed as the girls had a conversation for the camera and Winter explained what she was about to do. She was getting antsy, pushing Lisa towards the little ritual as much as she could while keeping that calm exterior. When her guest was finally ready, Winter took Lisa’s hand and they made their way over to the book that was still lying open waiting for its moment to shine. The words started to roll off her tongue as if she’d said them millions of times before because in truth, rehearsals had ensured that she had. But something felt different this time. The air was getting colder by the second, the flames of the candles were flickering wildly, and the crew themselves started to get restless. They’d witnessed Winter’s antics for three years now but they’d never seen anything like this before.
Winter closed her eyes for a split second while she let herself lean into the words. But when she opened them the chant was replaced by a shrill scream tearing through her throat. She bumped the table as she scrambled backwards, candles spilling wax all over the place while they fell over, and she fell back onto her butt while her gaze locked on an ethereal being standing on the other side of the table. His gaze was cold as he stared at her but her wide eyes were drawn to the mans arm dangling at his side. The limb was practically shredded, blood covering the whole right side of his body, and it was clear that he was seriously injured.
“Where the hell did you come from?”
Everyone was staring at her in shock but not one person made a move towards the bleeding man to help him. Winter was cold but damn, these people were straight up assholes.

“wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind,”
Tumblr media
Keigo Takami
Little is known about Keigo Takami, head of ravenclaw, he's the flying and arithmancy teacher, he’s a very laid back teacher that loves having a very chill class and you won’t catch him moping around making him a favorite among the students. Keigo is a pure blood wizard, his parents were always suspected to have served a dark wizard but they managed to avoid the initial downfall and kept their heads low, Keigo grew up very secluded during his former years only interacting with his parents who mentally and physically abused him blaming him for all their problems but he kept a high head, even at such a young age. However keigo managed to put them on the radar by using magic when he saw a couple of muggles in danger, already quite proficient at magic at such a young age. This heroic act of his did end up in a severe punishment. One day Keigo was rescued by a raid of wizards that were there to capture his parents who had been sold out by a couple of other dark wizard followers for their freedom and were promptly sent to the wizard prison, Azkaban. The one in particular that was protecting Keigo was Endeavor, when his parents in a fit of rage wanted to attack him, blaming Keigofor their fate when Endeavor rescued him, becoming his idol. He was taken in by the ministry and trained until he could officially be enrolled into hogwarts where he became a talented and charming student. The most popular boy of his age. Talented in flying magic and quidditch and able to make just about anyone love this kid. Even though keigo was on his way to becoming a world famous quidditch player he had already made ties to the ministry of magic, he helped a lot as a double spy during the wizard war but it left scars on his reputation, many believing that Takami was never on their side. Keigo has one student whom he mentors specifically, being the slytherin Tokoyami. Takami's patronus is a hawk. Those with the hawk patronus are dangerously intelligent, noting every detail of what is around them. They are great observers as well as being magnificent hunters, this meaning they have both sides of the coin covered

Nejire Hadou
The bubbly and curious Head girl of the Ravenclaw house, Nejire was born into a pureblood wizarding family with a very high status, Despite that she doesn’t quite think highly of herself and is always the sunshine in the room. She’s a high contrast to most of the ravenclaws but made herself quite popular among them with her high spirit and kindness. Her natural curiosity made her very eager to learn more and she often speaks out of turn to answer a question, and often tells random things she learned in passing conversations. Nejire is a natural for charms and even created her own spell that allowed her to fly, despite her cutesy appearance she’s a formidable and strong opponent that knows some nasty jinxes. She’s a member of the ravenclaw quidditch team as one of their chasers and is known to sometimes drop off her broom to catch the quaffle and flying back on her broom as she has the rare ability fly without the aid of any magical device, something no one else has figured out and no one can really understand her when she tries to explain it to others. Thanks to her talent and gifted nature she quickly became ryukyos student and is now on her way to become a very successful witch. Her patronus is a granian winged horse As a Patronus, they represent power, determination, and a free spirit.
Tumblr media
Tenya Iida
The proud prefect of the ravenclaw tower, Iida was born into another high status pure blood family known to have close ties to the ministry of magic and are known for their lineage of highly skilled, powerful and hardworking witches and wizards. A title Tenya works hard to uphold, very strict but still a friendly person he has a pretty quiet job helping the usually well behaved Ravenclaw students. He often helps his fellow students with studying and became quite beloved most first years calling him big brother. Tenyas is a very gifted student in most fields as he often puts in a lot of effort in all his classes, his strongest suit is arithmancy. Tenya is the current keeper for the quidditch team, he’s insanely fast but his strong build made it hard to be a seeker so he focused his fast reflexes on defending his side of the field. In his third year they had an encounter with a dark wizard that had previously attacked Tensei, Tenya’s older brother. Tenya would probably not have survived this encounter if not for deku showing up just in time. Tenyas patronus is leopard,Having a leopard as your Patronus means you find comfort in class. You are a resourceful, respectable person who many people can esteem and look up to, and you like having that reputation. Being respected is very helpful in getting you to your goals, which are likely people-oriented.
Tumblr media
Momo Yaoyorozu
Momo Yaoyorozu, the other prefect from Ravenclaw is also from a very noble and important pureblood family, Her mother was from France and studied at Beauxbatons academy while her father studied at hogwarts. Her mother later moved to work for the department of transportation while her father was the minister of magic for a while before stepping down and returning to his position working for magical law enforcement. Yaoyorozu lives in one of the biggest manors and rarely interacts with muggles but did have to study them as a child. Her magic developed at an early age so she was also tutored and trained from an early age to uphold the Yaoyorozu status, often she would be visited by important people working for the ministry and it was quite common that she had to show off her magic, Yaoyorozus grandmother was part Veela. "Veela are semi-human magical beings; beautiful women with white-gold hair and skin that appears to shine moon-bright. When angry, Veela take on a less pleasant appearance; their faces elongate into sharp, cruel-beaked bird heads, and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders." Due to this heritage wandless magic is something that came natural to her. Yaoyorozu was sorted into Ravenclaw due to her intellect and wisdom. The sorting did however contemplate Gryffindor as she does have a strong admiration for bravery and courageousness. She excels at all of her classes aside from care of magical creatures and herbology but can usually get by using her sheer knowledge on the subjects at matter. She follows a lot of extra courses most students drop in their earlier years but she doesn’t struggle with most of it, despite appearing so flawless to most people, evoking a lot of envy in her peers momo does not do well in duels and high pressure situations. She used to be very confident in her skills which was what made people think she was truly without flaw until she was horribly defeated in a duel against Tokoyami, she didn’t even lift her wand before it had ended. Destroying her confidence. Yaoyorozu is known to do a lot of study sessions with her classmates and that she’s great at making notes in class, being a lot keener and focusing on the smallest details like hand movements. Her patronus is a snowy owl, linked to that of Shoto Todoroki. The snowy owl represents a protective and fearless personality. The patronus of an owl symbolizes a strong aura of wisdom, and individuals with it shine intellectually. They are not very social people, but they tend to be very admired for their blatant knowledge of the world.

Affectation
Inspired by this prompt by @purpurniymstitel
Rating: Silco x gn!Reader - SFW - 2.7k words
Summary: you were always content with solitude, never daring to reach above your station. But when the opportunity presents itself, who are you to do anything but take the chance luck has given you?
Warnings: drinking, allusions to drugs and poison
It was safe to say that no one ever got what they wanted down in Zaun. Not even its king.
That's how it was for your family, your parents working endless, fluctuating hours leaving them with little to no time spent with you. In retrospect, you could see their hard work was necessary to make ends meet. They wanted to give you the best life possible, and with no generational wealth, the only way they could provide for you was to work for it.
Nonetheless, you were left to your own devices and over time, you began to resent them. They always said they wanted you to be happy, that they were doing all of this for you. But then why did they never seem to care? Not when you came home at odd hours, not when you smelled of narcotics, not when you were stained with blood.
You found that their lack of care manifested in opposition in you, finding yourself hyper aware of others’ actions, what they did and didn't do, how often they would show up and how frequently they would blow you off. You began to ponder your sanity. Was it normal to care this much, to overanalyze everything?
You came to the conclusion that you weren't like others. You couldn't process events and look at things the way others did. You made peace with the idea that you couldn't force yourself to be the same and adapted to it, learning the intricacies and applications of what you began to call your skills.
Nevertheless, your neglectful childhood led you to develop skills other Zaunties didn’t have, especially lying. Lying was a useful tool in Zaun, used to swindle Topsiders out of their belongings, used to persuade others to help finance your… education, used to convince your friends to trust you with the funds that were pilfered that day. And yet you found yourself to be the most proficient at it. Lying became second nature to you.
That's what led you to your profession; conning was acting, which was lying. Pretending to be someone else was easy: slipping into another persona was like putting on a mask. Sometimes you found yourself wishing you could be the person you portrayed, someone confident, proud, sophisticated, kind. The people you pretended to be weren't calculated, fake, disingenuous, unaware of themselves and their identity; they simply were.
Despite the role you tried to play, conning was tiring. And being tired made you vulnerable. That's why you usually drank alone, in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by nothing but the creaks of your neighbors in your apartment complex.
But somehow you ended up at a bar. Not the seedy ones you were accustomed to, but a nice bar, with bouncers to watch over the crowd, and higher priced drinks to combat the cost of such an expensive looking venue with employees who at least did their job.
Your eyes flicked over the menu, observing the prices, your coin heavy in your pocket. By Janna, that street vendor had to have lied! There was no discount, and from what you observed from the other customers, they were all paying in full.
You let out a controlled breath, leaning forward onto the bar, smiling virtuously. Not flirtatiously; no, you knew that if you were to be successful within your endeavor you needed to come off as innocent, playful.
“Hey,” you called out to the bartender, his back to you. His eyes met yours and you allowed your eyes to scrunch up the tiniest bit, as if it were natural. “Could I get two fingers of brandy?”
He nodded and turned around, and even though his expression gave nothing away, you knew he was hooked. You looked around, your fingers drumming mindlessly into the bartop. The sound of a tumbler being set in front of you brought your attention back to the bar. You looked up at him from below your lashes and reached into your pocket, pulling out an amount you knew was short of the sum you owed.
“You're actually short some.” He frowned and you let your mouth drop into an ‘o’.
“Oh,” you said as you pretended to dig in your pocket for something you knew you didn't have. “Sorry, I don't think I have enough.” You frowned, allowing your shoulders to drop ever so slightly. You pushed the glass toward him. “I'll take whatever that can get me.”
“No, it's okay,” he pushed the glass back. “We oversell the drinks to make a profit. Trust me, that drink is not worth more than what you paid.”
You smiled slightly, brightening ever so. “Thanks then!” Your fingers wrapped around the tumbler, your fingertip brushing against the condensation beginning to build.
You took your drink and walked away before he could reply, settling on a high chair, facing a counter along the stairs which led to who knows where. You sipped your drink thoughtfully, allowing your back to hunch over.
You had allowed yourself a day off, and yet you still found yourself playing the part of someone else.
Breathing out a sigh of exhaustion, you rolled your neck, bringing up a hand to rub against the back of your neck. You remembered one of your previous… clients telling you that most people carried stress in their necks.
The sound of a body settling next to you caused your eyes to snap open, turning your head slowly to the side. A beefy woman sat on the stool next to you, a cigar pinched between two robotic fingers. Her entire left arm appeared to be mechanical, you noticed, your gaze trailing up her arm to reach her face.
She said your name, and without giving anything away, you nodded slowly. “That's me,” you said, acting as carelessly as you could manage in your exhausted state.
“The man upstairs wants to see you.” The woman blew out a breath, the tendrils of smoke framing her face. You continued to keep up your facade, only allowing yourself to raise an eyebrow.
“And who would that be?” The woman stopped, only allowing herself another puff.
“You do know what bar you’re in right now, right?” She shifted in her seat, setting her metal arm on the bartop, flicking ash into a glass someone had left behind.
“Is that supposed to mean something to me?” You took another sip, noticing the wet ring your glass had left on the table. The woman chuckled as she stood up, beckoning you to the stairs behind you. You took one last swig of your drink before setting it back on the counter and following behind.
A man at the landing, presumably guarding it, nodded at the woman and allowed you two passage in. The stairs creaked beneath your weight and you felt the stares of the patrons behind you. This woman had to have some kind of weight to her to wield enough power that people were watching her. Ignoring them, you continued up the stairs, your boots making scuffs against the wood.
When the two of you reached the top, the woman rounded the corner, entering into a poorly lit hallway. You spared a small glance to the bustling dance floor behind you before allowing her to lead you to who-knows-where.
You eventually reached the end of the hallway, a heavy looking wood door looming in front of you. The woman gestured for you to enter and you swallowed harshly, reaching for the brass door knob.
The door turned easily, the hinges silent as the door opened. You walked inside, noting that the woman didn't follow behind. You shut the door with a click, taking a deep breath the way you practiced, silent but controlled, and turned around to face whoever ‘the man upstairs was’.
An oak desk took up most of the space, a high backed chair pushed in. You frowned. This “man” was nowhere to be found. Taking a tentative step forward, you observed the room. A large, circular window took up the majority of the wall behind the desk. The other walls were lined with bookcases, not enough to take up the entirety of the room but enough to prove one’s wealth.
You took this with a large grain of salt; not many people in Zaun could afford books. They were primarily reserved for Topsiders, and the ones that could afford it didn't own this many. You walked up to the nearest bookshelf, your fingers trailing against the spines. You pulled one out, noting that the one you pulled out, as well as the ones next to it, were real. They weren't the placebo kind that you had seen in other homes, belonging to those who wanted to appear well read and educated. These books were not only real, but well loved, the deckled edges showing signs of wear.
You flipped open the book, observing the annotations on the inside before the sound of a throat being cleared interrupted you. You whirled around, slicing your finger on the page you had opened. Immediately popping your finger into your mouth to keep a drop of blood from being left behind, you watched his eyes drop to your mouth before quickly flicking up to your eyes.
The man in front of you was quite tall, with a lean build. A streak of gray ran through the middle of his hair, which was slicked back with some sort of product, another detail which gave away his financial status; only wealthy men would care enough to spend money on hair product. He was well dressed, a fitted vest over a red button up, a white cravat placing the final touch on the outfit.
So this was the man upstairs.
After your inspection of the man, your eyes flicked up to his, your mouth parting slightly. You had been too busy with your initial assessment of the man’s body language and overall status to notice his eyes. Eyes weren't typically on your checklist. Although they could give away one’s true feelings, they weren't needed when observing one’s characteristics and personality. Eyes wouldn’t give away tells or weaknesses upon first impression.
One of his eyes was piercing blue, the other a whirlpool of black and ember orange. Perhaps the most chilling thing about them was that you recognized them. Not from personal experience, of course, but from descriptors. Clients whispering information in your ears, warnings from those on the street, telling stories of a man with enough power to bring a city to destruction, with only mismatched eyes to tell the tale. You hadn't heard of anyone else with the same eyes. Not anyone else but Silco.
While your first instinct was to ask him what he wanted from you, you kept your mouth shut, observing him with keen eyes, waiting for him to make the first move. His lips quirked up ever so slightly, a slight indicator that he approved of your silence.
Sliding the book back into its place on the shelf, you turned back around, your hands resting at your sides.
“Please take a seat,” he said smoothly, gesturing to the chairs in front of the desk. You walked over to one, waiting for him to sit first. He took his seat and you followed his lead, keeping your demeanor as docile as possible even though your instincts screamed for you to run.
“Might I ask why I was brought here?” you asked, keeping yourself as still as possible.
“You're not one to beat around the bush,” he said, leaning back ever so slightly.
“No sir,” you said. “I've always liked to make the best possible use of my time.”
“That makes two of us,” he stood up, walking over to a cart in the corner of his office. If he was from Topside, you would've had to stand up to signify respect, something reminiscent of the Gilded age. By Janna, they were so old fashioned. Your eyes followed every movement he made, the way his back slightly rounded as he leaned down to retrieve a tumbler. “Do you drink?”
“In moderation.” You picked your word choice carefully. Silco nodded, picking up another. You watched him intently to be sure that he wasn't going to slip something in your drink. From what you’d heard, it wasn’t his typical MO, but you supposed that with his power he could silence anyone. Of course, there was also the fact that he was a drug lord, and with the hits he had on his back, it would be wise to stray from familiar behaviors. You had learned the same, never going to the same bar twice, varying the cases you'd take as to not con the same family twice, etc. It was a smart move to say the least, regardless of where his intent lay.
Silco made no suspicious actions, no sleight of hand - that you had caught, at least. The whiskey that he poured flowed smoothly into the glasses and he soon returned to the desk. Placing the glass in front of you, he stayed standing, observing your next move.
You lifted the glass to your lips, allowing a small amount of the amber liquid to trickle in, but you made sure not to swallow. You let your throat bob to imitate swallowing while you let the liquid sit in your mouth. His eyebrow twitched ever so slightly before he lifted the glass to his mouth, taking a large drink. Now knowing that the drink was not poisoned, you allowed yourself to swallow.
“Quite paranoid, aren't you?” he remarked.
“Only cautious,” you replied, taking another sip before setting the glass down. With the drink you’d already had prior to this meeting, you had to be careful with your alcohol intake as to not get tipsy enough to slip up.
Silco cleared his throat before saying, “I've heard about you.”
Your heart jumped to your throat. He had heard of you? Had you wronged him in some way? Conned one of his associates and caused him a major financial loss? You racked your brain for your last clients and the things you’d done to them.
Silco leaned forward ever so slightly, leaning his forearms against the wood of the desk. “Would you be willing to work for me?”
You blinked. Your mind was bland. He wanted to… recruit you? If he was anyone else, you would've laughed in their face before robbing them blind and letting them be someone else’s problem.
“You’re giving me a choice?” you asked tentatively. You were sure he was the kind of person to take what he wanted, through blackmail or coercion. He certainly didn't seem like the type to give you an option. He nodded. “Well-”
“There would be terms, of course.” He reached into a drawer and pulled out a contract. One of your eyebrows rose. So he had been expecting you?
You quickly thought back to why you had come to thisparticluar bar in the first place. Well, one of the food vendors had told you that they had a special discount today at one of the nicer bars in the lanes, and although that hadn't proved to be true, you'd gone out of your way to stop by. By Janna, this place was ages away from your apartment. You cocked your head to the side. Had he… planted information as an incentive to get you to come? Perhaps you weren't as unpredictable as you thought.
That thought brought a frown to your face, which you smoothed over as soon as you felt it.
Silco interrupted your thoughts. “You will be paid fairly and if you wish, I own lodgings close by, protected by bodyguards. This will announce your affiliation with me, but the bodyguards will protect you when you’re off-duty. I make this offer because it's highly likely that even if you don't move into the residence, your future recurring trips to the Last Drop will raise an eyebrow, considering you haven't frequented this establishment often before.” That definitely raised a red flag; he was aware of how little you came to this bar. This meant he had to have made some sort of calculated move to get you here, probably tracking you in the process.
“As for your salary,” Silco continued, before reciting a number so high you could scarcely believe it was real. The corner of your mouth twitched ever so slightly. You could tell he caught it from the small satisfied look that glinted in his eye.
“I'll have to think about it,” you said at last. He nodded, leaning back.
“I'd like to have an answer at the same time next week.” he said, sliding the contract back into the desk where it came from, a clear dismissal that you took with open arms.

The thing about Dabi is he's not usually a possessive guy. Fucking is fucking, as far as he's concerned—it doesn't really matter who is doing it with whom as long as everyone is getting off on it. But goddamn if there isn't something about you that makes him want to make you his.
And he's gotten that, more or less. It took some sweet talking and cajoling, and a few late nights where he made you come until you couldn't see straight, but you agreed not to go sleeping with anyone else. Sure, you've made him promise the same, but that's fine. Not that he's going to actually stop, of course, but he goes out on recruiting missions alone and he figures what you don't know won't hurt you.
That's all enough to satisfy him, at least for a little while. But then a few weeks pass and there it is again: that stupid jealousy and all those unbidden thoughts about the people you were with before him. People he knows. You never talk in too much detail about your past hookups, but he's not stupid, is all too aware that he's not the first one in this ragged band of miscreants that you've crawled into bed with. You've fucked Jin, and Shigaraki, and probably even Magne, god rest her soul—Dabi hadn't missed the way the two of you had huddled up giggling in the corner of the old bar one night, disappearing together unusually early, making those bedroom eyes at each other. And in theory that's fine. Nothing wrong with two girls having fun together, after all. Hell, bi chicks are hot and Dabi wouldn't mind taking advantage of that someday.
But first he needs to find a way to get the image of you with your legs spread for half the League out of his goddamn head.
If he's being honest, it's Shigaraki who bothers him the most. Magne is dead. Jin is a decent dude and, Dabi has to imagine, tame as a kitten in the sack. But Shigaraki, well...Dabi can tell just by looking at the guy that he's a freak, and the idea of you riding Shigaraki's dry, crusty dick, of letting him do who-knows-what filthy shit to you? It just gets to him.
And then Toga has to suggest that stupid game and go putting ideas in his head.
You're all sitting around the crumbling office space that passes for a hideout, drinking to celebrate the League's first successful double-amputation (because fuck that germophobic, transphobic prick), and blondie is just begging to play a drinking game. Normally Dabi doesn't go for that shit—why anyone needs an excuse to get wasted is beyond him—but he's in a good mood, and you make that adorable pouty face as you tell him that you played in college, that it's really fun, and somehow he finds himself sitting in a circle on the dusty floor with the rest of you losers playing 'I haven't' or whatever the fuck it's called.
It's all bland shit to start. Toga's never driven a car, Shigaraki's never gone to school. But, after you've made your way around the circle once, everyone seems to be loosening up and Spinner takes one for the team by getting to the interesting shit and admitting he's never slept with a girl. It spurs a moment of awkward silence made all the worse by his red face and obvious self-consciousness about being a virgin, but then Compress stage-whispers "Neither have I," before winking salaciously at the blushing lizard and taking a dramatic pull from his beer bottle. It's enough to lighten the mood.
After that, Dabi's forced to admit it's a decent game. There's not much he hasn't done sexually or criminally, and since those are the two topics everyone focuses on, he finds himself getting hammered faster than usual. It's a good thing too—his buzz makes it easier to ignore the look you and Shigaraki exchange when Jin announces that he's never tried watersports, easier to pretend his gut isn't twisting at the knowing smirk on your leader's face as he raises his beer bottle to drink and you follow suit.
That particular moment makes it all the more surprising when, on your next turn, you hide an embarrassed face behind your hand and announce that you've never taken it in the ass.
Dabi can't stop thinking about it the rest of the night. Obsessing over it, and the idea of being your first, your only, even if only in some less than conventional way. The thing is, it's downright tame in comparison to a lot of what you two get up to, so barely even kinky that it's almost impossible to believe you've never tried it. Sure, you've never done it together, but he'd just figured neither of you were all that into it, since it hadn't come up when you were doing lewd shit to each other.
That kind of sex is fine from his perspective, but only fine. He doesn't actively seek it out because in his mind nothing beats the feel of being balls-deep in a warm pussy, but that doesn't mean he hasn't done it. He's hooked up with plenty of girls that were into it and has always been happy to oblige; hell, he's even taken it more than once, on account of the fact that when it comes to the bedroom he's willing to try anything twice.
But doing it with you? Well, that thought sticks. The two of you finally go to bed and Dabi's so turned on by the idea of your virgin ass that he can't help testing the waters, prodding teasingly at that tight hole with one spit-slicked finger until you're squirming away and whining. He doesn't manage to convince you right then, but he makes those puppy dog eyes that are far more effective than they have any right to be, and you agree to give it a go in the future.
"Not here," you specify, the words fuzzy on your drunken tongue. "Someplace nicer, with a real bed." You already have your reservations, and you certainly don't relish the idea of undertaking that particular venture now, on a worn mattress in this falling apart building, with its paper-thin walls and complete lack of hot water. Between your booze-fueled haze and the seeming interminability of the League's poverty, you mostly forget about that casual promise by the following morning.
But Dabi doesn't. He picks up a small bottle of lube the next day and carries it around in his pocket shamelessly, a little reminder that he has something to look forward to besides roasting that prick Endeavor, and he strokes himself off to the idea more than he's proud to admit as he waits for the League to move on to better things. He can be patient, when he needs to be.
That patience takes a toll though, and the minute the League settles into their new digs in Re-Destro's sprawling villa, where there's actually privacy and clean, comfortable beds, Dabi shows up at your door with a cheshire grin and every intention of finally getting something from you that's just for him.
You grimace when you remember that promise, try briefly to talk him out of it even, but he isn't so easily dissuaded. It's made all the harder by the fact that you can't give him a specific reason why you've never tried it, beyond that it seems uncomfortable and you hadn't particularly enjoyed the couple instances when you'd allowed someone to slip a finger or two in there.
"C'mon, baby girl," Dabi coos, his breath hot in your ear as he pins you to the wall, working two unnaturally warm fingers into your cunt. "I'll make sure it's good for you. Be gentle, get you nice and warmed up first, all that sweet shit."
It really is unfair how persuasive he can be when he fixes those pleading turquoise eyes on you. The way the pads of his fingers are curling just right deep inside isn't helping either, and he teases you like that until you give in to his cajoling, though you still insist on waiting a couple nights so that you can do your research and make sure you're entirely prepared. Dabi demonstrates his appreciation by burying his face in your cunt and not surfacing for air until you've come three times and are begging for a break.
When the night finally arrives, Dabi's feeling positively giddy. He slips into your bedroom with a bottle of wine and a couple glasses he's brought, a little something to help you relax because he's a gentleman when he wants to be. It should be good booze too—he lifted it from Re-Destro's private stash, and he's certain baldy doesn't drink anything that costs less than ¥30,000. Of course, Re-Destro doesn't love sharing either, but the uptight prick is too scared of Shigaraki to complain about anything the League does. They all take advantage of that, because they can and because it's fun to watch him bite his tongue when they piss him off.
You don't make it easy for Dabi to focus on pouring the drinks though, not when you're reclining in that armchair by the window, freshly showered and fidgeting nervously. He was half-erect before he got here from just thinking about what he was going to do to you, and the sight of you acting like you're some blushing virgin spurs him all the way to rock-hard. By the time your glasses are close to empty, he's straining uncomfortably in his pants, and can't fight back his impatience any longer.
"What do you think, doll?" he murmurs, setting his glass to the side and standing up, shrugging his jacket off before leaning down to ghost his lips over your neck. "You ready to move this to the bed?"
The way you chew at your lower lip anxiously before nodding makes his dick throb.
You empty your glass with one final, large swallow, your heart racing as you rise. You know it's stupid—you and Dabi have fucked countless times and a lot of it hasn't exactly been vanilla—but it's been a long time since you've actually tried anything new. His obvious excitement doesn't help either, paradoxically; it leaves you fretting about what will happen if you're somehow bad at this, or if you can't take it and have to stop. You've never really worried about disappointing him before, but now the thought weighs acutely on your mind.
It's with halting steps that you approach the bed and then, when you can't realistically drag your feet any longer, you finally tug the nightgown you're wearing off your shoulders, letting it fall to the floor to reveal what's underneath.
"Damn, baby girl," Dabi breathes, looking you up and down. You'd figured that since it was a special occasion you might as well dress up, donning a strappy bra and panties. They're little more than elaborate, crisscrossing pieces of lace, all white since he'd seemed so fixated on this pseudo-innocent, first-time act. His reaction doesn't disappoint, eyes lighting up as he stares at you hungrily.
You let yourself fall back on the bed, nestling against the many pillows. The look on his face has your stomach fluttering, and the wine has helped you to relax a bit despite your nerves, a pleasant warmth spreading throughout your body. It's joined by a different kind of heat when you feel the mattress dip beneath Dabi's weight as he positions himself over you, one knee resting between your thighs, just barely brushing against your center, a hint of what's to come.
"You look so good I could just eat you up," Dabi whispers hotly against your ear before tracing his lips over your jaw. Even though he wants to take his time, let himself savor this, it's taking every ounce of patience he has to keep the promise he made to get you worked up and ready for him, to not to tear those pretty bits of satin and lace off and have his way with you right then.
You whine eagerly when his mouth slants hungrily over yours, savoring the feel of those mismatched lips, the way the rough skin of the bottom one contrasts so deliciously with the top. Hot hands run over your sides as the kiss deepens, your tongues tangling together, and you moan against him.
When you finally break for air, Dabi moves his lips to your throat, his tongue lapping at your pulse before he sinks his teeth into you. He loves to mark you up, loves making sure everyone can see that you're indisputably his, and it's even hotter now that he knows he's going to fuck you in a way no one else has. You're shivering beneath him as he works, your hand tugging insistently at his hair, and Dabi lets out a low, throaty growl.
"Guess I'm not the only one who's eager, huh?"
Your hips tilt in response, pressing needily into his firm thigh, and Dabi can feel the skin on his cheeks straining against his staples as he grins. He traces one hand up over your ribs, cupping at your supple breasts, teasing your hardening nipple through the flimsy fabric of your bra. Those deft fingers work under the seam of your lingerie as he shifts his weight, increasing the pressure against your center while he pinches and tugs at the peaks of your breasts until you're whimpering, spreading slick along his leg even through your thin panties.
Dabi pulls away abruptly, rolling onto his back and tugging at you to change positions, shaking his head when you move to mount his hips.
"Come here, baby girl," he says, his tongue tracing over his bottom lip. "Like I said, I wanna eat you up."
The promise in those words sends a bolt of heat straight through your core as he guides you to straddle his face, hot breath tickling your inner thighs. One calloused thumb brushes your clit lightly through your underwear, blue eyes sparkling when your breath hitches at that soft touch. When he pulls that useless fabric to the side and runs his tongue over your already-damp slit, you shudder.
Dabi lets out a pleased groan at your reaction and gets to work more earnestly, lapping at your sensitive nub, licking and sucking until you're moaning and only then shifting a little so that he can lap at your insides, that same rough thumb replacing the pressure of his tongue on your clit. It strokes firm circles as he buries that hot, wet muscle inside you, the metal barbell there teasing your inner walls as you grind involuntarily against it. You can't help but whine when he withdraws it, but that disappointment is quickly replaced by you startling as that same wet muscle extends further back to tease at your puckered entrance.
"A-ah, Dabi, wait," you protest, your face heating up self-consciously almost at once.
Dabi pauses, shifting just enough to keep his reply from being muffled as one warm hand runs reassuringly up your thigh. "I don't think I can help myself, doll," he says, his slick-coated lips splitting into a wide grin, "you just taste too good."
That heat in your face worsens as he dives back in, not even waiting for you to respond before he's flexing his tongue to poke at that tight ring of muscle. You still try to squirm away, feeling unprepared for this. You hadn't even considered it among the possible activities were volunteering to participate in, but Dabi is holding you firmly in place with the hand not working at your clit, and when another whine of protest escapes you, it's weaker than the first. The foreign sensation of his tongue against your neglected hole has you hyperaware of the press of his thumb at your apex, and you can feel tension building in your core even as you writhe in embarrassment.
It's as though he knows, too, and you suppose maybe he does; after all, he's the one who's done this before. He thrusts his tongue a little deeper, rolling your clit between two hot fingers with enough pressure to cut off any further protests. A long moan is the only sound you can muster as you spill over the edge, your thighs clenching around his head and your hips jerking shakily as you ride out your climax with his tongue still buried obscenely in your rear.
Dabi's face is covered in your juices by the time he slides from between your thighs, and he wipes it away carelessly with one arm as he repositions you again, pinning you on your back and wasting no time peeling away your now-soaked panties. He grins at the sight of your glistening folds and swollen clit before stripping off most of his own clothes, kicking them unceremoniously to the side and relaxing between your legs, kissing at your still-trembling thighs.
He teases at your sensitive cunt with his fingers, coating them in your juices as you whimper. "Ready for a little more?" he asks, and you nod despite the fact that your cheeks are still burning from before and your stomach is knotting with nerves.
"Just...go slow, okay?"
"Of course, baby girl," he promises, "I told you I'd take good care of you." With that, he starts to work you open, dipping one finger into your tight hole just until he reaches the first knuckle, working it in and out slowly. His other hand toys at your clit, stroking and rolling that puffy nub again, making you mewl.
Dabi waits until you're relaxed before trying any more, pulling away from you just long enough to dig the lube from the pocket of his discarded pants, coating his fingers with it. He works that lone finger deeper this time, in and out until it's buried to the last knuckle.
The sensation is strange, but not entirely unpleasant; even if you think you'd rather have that finger curling in your cunt, the slight stretch is still adding to the faint throb already growing inside you, the one that worsens when his thumb returns to your apex.
"Fuck, you're so tight," Dabi growls when one well-placed stroke of his thumb has you clenching lightly around his finger. He ruts his hips against the sheets, trying vainly to find some relief for his aching member, but it's not enough—he needs to feel you, needs the vice-like grip clutching his fingers to be wrapped around his cock, and he needs it soon.
You feel him withdraw to add more lube, and then he's fingering you again, adding another digit to stretch you wider. It comes with a stab of discomfort when he forces his way past the second knuckle, and you reflexively try to pull back. "Dabi, that's too much."
He abandons his soothing attentions to your clit, one warm palm pressing you tight against the mattress to keep you in place, stroking soothingly at your hip. His breath tickles over your inner thigh as he chuckles softly. "If you can't take this, how are you ever gonna take me, hmm?" he says teasingly. "You're doing great, baby, just relax."
You will yourself to unclench, trying to picture Dabi's satisfied face once you're taking him, that adoring look he sometimes gives you, the one that you relish. Your efforts are only marginally effective, but Dabi keeps pushing deeper, fucking you slowly but insistently with those fingers, and when you don't complain again, his thumb returns to caressing your sex.
"That's a good girl." Dabi picks up the pace, cursing under his breath. "You're doing so good."
You're wriggling against his hand now, trying to increase the friction at your center, not quite minding the foreign sensation of his fingers and the uncanny fullness they bring so much now that there's heat thrumming in your core. "Y-yeah, like that," you pant encouragingly, and Dabi grins.
"That doing it for you?" he purrs. "Think you can take more?"
You start to shake your head—the stretch now feels like all you can handle—but Dabi's already adding a third slick finger, shoving it in with less restraint than before. You feel more than discomfort this time when three knuckles breach your asshole, and it quickly dampens the arousal that had been steadily building. "Dabi, slow down," you gasp.
"Aw, are you sure you can't handle it?" His blue eyes meet yours, pupils blown wide with arousal as he looks you over with the hungry gaze. "'Cause if I'm being honest, it feels like you're trying to suck me in. Like this greedy little hole wants to get fucked."
The huskiness of his voice sends a shiver down your spine, even as another whine of discomfort escapes you. For just a second his expression darkens slightly, but then he's slowing his movements, twisting his fingers instead of thrusting them in and out.
"Better?" he asks, and you think you catch an edge of impatience in his voice.
It is better though, a little at least, enough that you can focus on the way your cunt flutters every time his thumb strokes over your clit. So you just nod; it's not like this wasn't bound to be a little unpleasant at points, right?
Dabi's smile stretches wider, his thumb working faster. A mewl slips from between your lips and Dabi takes that as encouragement, his fingers resuming their persistent thrusts. It's still uncomfortable, though not quite as bad as when he started, and your teeth sink into your lower lip to bite back your complaints. You let your eyes fall closed instead, trying to focus on his attentions to your hooded nub, on the heat that's pooling in your lower belly. You're inching towards another release, and you let a hand lift to your breast, tweaking at the pebbled flesh of one nipple to help yourself along.
"D-dabi, I'm close," you stammer, your hips bucking against his hand.
"Yeah?" His movements speed up, his voice breathy and excited. "Do it, baby girl. Come for me and then I'm gonna fuck this tight little ass of yours."
You swallow hard, trying not to dwell on those words for now—you can tell you've loosened up more, tolerating the jab of his fingers, but his cock is substantially larger than those, all too intimidating. Thankfully, it's not hard to remain distracted, to focus only on your approaching peak.
Dabi can feel that orgasm rip through you when it hits, your asshole clenching around his fingers as you keen, and it's then that he reaches the limits of his patience. He needs you now, needs the thrill of burying himself in your tight ass and claiming you for his own, of reaching his own release deep inside and then watching his seed spill out afterwards. What a satisfying sight that will be.
He scrambles up from between your legs to catch your lips with his, fumbling his boxers off as his tongue invades your mouth. When he pulls away, his eyes are bright, needy. "Ready for me?" he asks.
You're not, not really, but you can see the fervor in his eyes, hear the urgency in his voice, and you convince yourself that he won't be able to work you open much more with his fingers no matter what. Your agreement doesn't matter anyway—he's already rolling you onto your side and slotting his chest against your back, his straining erection poking at the cleft between your thighs.
"Like this?" you ask, surprised by the choice of position.
"Just like this," he pants in your ear. His teeth nibble at your lobe as he slicks his cock generously with lube. "Want you spooned against me so I can see those cute faces you make, feel you squirming when you take me."
And fuck, when he slips one hand back down to finger your asshole one last time, it doesn't disappoint—your body ripples against him when that invasion catches you off guard, and he can see the way your lips part obscenely as you gasp at his touch. His fingers abandon your tight hole almost as quickly as they'd entered, and then Dabi is aligning himself with your entrance, using the last of his restraint not to slam his hips forward and bury himself inside with a single thrust.
You can feel the spongy head of his glans, and the slick coolness of the ring that adorns his tip, prodding at your rear. One of his arms worms its way under your side, his hand groping distractedly at your breasts as you tense in anticipation.
"Relax, baby girl," he murmurs, but he doesn't wait for you to even try. He's already slipping in, moving slowly until he encounters resistance an inch or so inside, and then pausing.
He has to struggle to keep his composure. Even like this, with not even the full head of his cock in your ass, his balls are tightening, just the thought of what he's doing nearly enough to send him over the brink. He waits until he's sure that won't happen and then starts moving, pushing insistently to work you open around his length with shallow thrusts.
"A-ah, Dabi, g-go easy," you stutter, already squirming. You can feel your body resisting the intrusion, so much larger than his fingers, and it aches slightly every time he tries to breach that inner ring.
"I am, baby, don't worry. I'll take care of you." His cheek is nuzzling against yours, his lips kissing and sucking wherever he can reach, but his motions don't change at all even as he murmurs so sweetly. He only slings one arm over your hips, toying lazily at your clit. That attention helps you relax, helps distract you a little, but it's not enough to prepare you for when he drives himself in further, finally surging past that taut band of muscle.
The invasion brings a sharp pain, one that has you crying out. Tears prick at the corners of your eyes, your body reflexively contorting to try and escape the cause of that hurt, but his arms tighten around you, holding you in place as he continues to work himself deeper with every thrust.
"Dabi, that hurts." Your words are sharper this time as each stroke sends another unpleasant throb through your overstretched hole, but his only response is to plunge the fingers rubbing at your clit into your dripping cunt.
"Shh, you're doing great." He curls his fingers, stroking against that spongy spot deep inside. It makes you writhe, but that does nothing to address the pain between your legs as he fucks you.
"Dabi, don't, that's not helping, I—"
"It's okay, baby girl, you're taking me so well," Dabi coos. You'll adjust, he knows you will—you're usually up for anything, of course you can take this. And fuck, there's no way he can stop now, not when it's even better than he'd imagined—hotter and softer, your pillowy walls enveloping his length every time he plunges into you, the exquisite tightness of your entrance massaging his shaft with each thrust.
"I'm not— I don't— I don't want to do this anymore." You can hear the desperate edge in your voice now. Your heart is racing and there's a cold sweat forming on your skin as tears of pain and confusion start to leak down your cheeks. "Dabi, stop."
"Shh, shh, you're fine. You—fuck—you feel so amazing. 'S never been this good with anyone else, fuck."
"I don't care, I don't want this." You can't understand what's happening, why he's not listening. You twist your head to look at him, pleading with your eyes, but he's barely even focusing on you. His blue eyes are glazed and half-lidded as his lips wander over your shoulders and your neck, all the while murmuring those useless reassurances against your skin. You're thrashing now, your feet scrambling for purchase on the sheets as you try frantically to pull away, but he keeps his tight grip on you, one of his legs hooking around your own to hold you in place. "Dabi, I said stop!"
He shushes you again, rutting into you harshly, and a choked sob escapes you when he bottoms out inside you, his hips flush against your backside as you struggle against him. You feel sick to your stomach, and it only worsens when he pulls out until nothing but his tip remains, then drives himself back in with one agonizingly rough thrust.
You keep begging, pleading, wracking your brain and trying every past safe word you can recall, but he only continues to pound into you, his breathing erratic as he pants in your ear. "It's okay, baby. You're taking my cock like such a good girl. You're—ngh—making me feel so good."
The ache between your legs is diminishing slightly as you adjust to his girth, your body entirely unconcerned with whether you want that or not. He's still fingering your sopping cunt too, his palm grinding against your oversensitive clit with each plunge of his long digits, the lewd squelching sound of those attentions mingling with the sharp slap of his hips against your ass as he fucks you.
"You like this?" he asks, but you know he's not really asking. "You like knowing I'm the only one? That I'm making you mine, just mine, just like how it should be?"
"Dabi, stop. Please stop." Your appeals are feeble now, far more for yourself than for him as you continue to utter them between quiet sobs. Dabi's somewhere far away, awash in the tight heat of your ass and the satisfaction of finally staking his claim on you, aware of your supplications but not hearing them, not really.
You slump, still sobbing, and let him take what he wants. His attentions to your cunt have a coil tightening in your gut, but when your climax hits it's perfunctory and mechanical, no real pleasure to be found even as your hips jerk and your holes spasm, a joyless whine passing from your lips.
No real pleasure for you, at least. But fuck, the feel of you squeezing around his cock as you come is what Dabi has been waiting for, your insides massaging his length as though desperate for him to decorate your walls with his cum. It's a gift he's glad to grant—he rocks his hips more urgently, keeping his thrusts shallow now so that he's sure to get it all deep inside.
"Fuck," he groans against your neck. "Gonna make me come, baby girl. That what you want? Want me to fill you up?" You shake your head, but his movements are already growing spurtive and erratic, his grunts louder and throatier, and then you can feel his cock jerking inside you, a hot rush of cum flooding your guts.
Dabi doesn't stop then, either, keeps fucking his seed into you until he's softening, not quite able to work himself in and out of your tight, abused hole any longer, and only then does he finally pull out, a dribble of cum leaking obscenely down your thigh.
You're sniffling, drawing shaky breaths, and you try to pull away the moment his arms relax around you. They only tighten again, his lips planting soft kisses along your temple.
"Shh," he murmurs. The sound of his shushing makes you want to scream. One hand lifts to wipe at the tears on your cheeks. "You were so good, baby girl, there's no need to cry. You were fucking incredible." He means it too, doesn't think he's ever come so hard in his life as he did now, making you his.
Dabi can't wait to do it again.

HARRY POTTER’S NATAL CHART.
5:00 PM | JULY 31, 1980 | GODRIC’S HOLLOW, UK.
OVERVIEW
Harry is a triple fire sign, signifying someone with an abundance of creativity, courage, loyalty, and strength. Harry’s Aries Moon trining his Leo Sun explains why he is so often singled out for a leadership role, even before he would readily nominate himself for the role. It suits him, naturally, and is obvious to those around him. This fire primes him to be someone of action, with little patience for lies, Harry actively seeks the truth and doesn’t readily accept authoritative roles telling him no. In fact, he isn’t very inclined to follow rules at all. And while he may be dynamic, triple fire also leaves a path towards a lazy streak, something that crops up particularly in school. He’s not suited for a classroom setting, even when quite competent in the more physical demands of the wixen world.
SUN | LEO, 8°34'44" | EIGHTH HOUSE
The Sun determines conscious self, identity, and “role” in life. In many ways it is the core of who a person is, and what they most readily identify with. Harry’s Sun is in Leo, meaning he is fundamentally bold and proud. For the most part, he is self-assured in his abilities and how to use them. Harry’s honesty and refusal to compromise himself, coupled with an inability to give up on goals ( or fixations ) make him a natural leader. Occasionally this commitment to honesty can seem overly hardheaded, domineering, ostentatious or patronizing and we have seen instances in which he is at risk to lose the goodwill and admiration even from the people he trusts the mosts. ( This becomes most evident in his pursuit of the Horcruxes. )
The placement of Harry’s Sun in the eight house also indicates that he runs the risk of being fueled by a desire for revenge. It’s a tricky balance to ensure he is not building his entire identity around this driving force. The Scorpion streak also indicates that Harry tends to be secretive, and while it means his emotional depth is beyond the typical Leo it also gives way for him to self-isolate in pursuit of his highest goals.
Finally, his Sun is placed in the eighth house of death and legacies. A certain pull towards the afterlife is present throughout his life, marked initially by his first encounter with Voldemort. He’s born under a “lucky” ( read: prophesied ) star, indicting that he not only comes into great fortune - in fact, being a recipient of two but also a great legacy from the dead.
ASCENDANT | SAGITTARIUS, 9°14'59" | FIRST HOUSE
The Ascendant is the “mask” which is presented to people, the first impression typically falls in line with this. Harry’s Ascendant is in Sagittarius, he can come across as independent, optimistic, and confident, though sometimes overly blunt or critical. Generally a charming conversationalist, your free-spirited approach may come off as restless or easily bored. Sagittarius on the Ascendant also adds a certain risk-taking quality to Harry’s personality. When in pursuit of something he truly believes in, Harry is willing to lay it all on the line. Whether it be bodily harm during a Quidditch match, or his life while attempting to defeat evil as he sees it, Harry doesn’t often hesitate to do whatever it takes.
Sagittarius’s ruling planet ( Jupiter ) in the analytical sign of Virgo indicates that Harry’s mind is quite capable of detailed thinking, particularly when there is a mystery to solve. Without physical endeavors, Harry can become quite restless. There is also indicators of a deep inner life, leading way towards in-depth fantasy worlds or vivid dreams. ( Both of which are extremely prevalent in Harry’s life ).  He can feel trapped, often, and really dislikes feeling helpless or aimless. He likes freedom of choice, and enjoys being outdoors. He’s also more inclined to be attracted towards physical / outdoor sport.
It also shows a sense of humor that leans toward the sarcastic and cynical end of the spectrum. Despite more introverted tendencies ( and inclinations ), Harry does enjoy socializing and in fact can get quite a great deal out of it. His preferences toward socializing with a selected few are exactly that - Harry enjoys being with people he knows will be honest with him, people he can trust. ( More on that in a second ).
MOON | ARIES, 0°40'34" | THIRD HOUSE
The Moon rules emotions, moods, and feelings. It reflects personality when someone is alone or deeply comfortable. Harry’s Moon is in Aries, meaning his emotional self is independent, energetic, and enthusiastic. He has a tendency to feel inadequate and being it is in his third house, he finds security and safety through the things he knows and is familiar with. ( Most notably his affection towards Hogwarts, despite it quite literally being a place fo death for him. )
High-spirited and courageous, Harry is a fighter. The degree of drive that Harry brings to any effort sometimes surprises others. He operates, more or less, on a hair-trigger reaction to certain stimuli, which sometimes means he acts in the heat of the moment which isn’t always the best thing. Similarly, Harry has a temper but rarely holds grudges. Very independent, with an extremely strong and forceful personality, he is known for being impulsive, careless, reckless, foolhardy, rash and daring.
MERCURY | CANCER, 19°11'26" | EIGHTH HOUSE
Mercury determines communication and the processing of information. It also indicates the way he learns. ( It is the mind’s planet. ) Harry’s Mercury is in Cancer, meaning his intellect is emotional and empathetic. He has a strong intuition and ( at times ) skill for diplomacy, but ( more times than not ) he tends to favor volatility and irrationality. Co-Star in particular came through with a good read, “ Sighing is a favored mode of communication. ”
Harry has difficulty seeing life objectively, his emotions ruling his thought processes. Harry’s rich inner life points towards having an excellent memory, especially when he has emotionally bonded with such a memory. He would do well to make his decisions with a clear-mind, but Harry’s restless nature rarely allows that. Mercury’s position also indicates that however confident, however popular, however brave Harry becomes a portion of his thoughts will always dwell on his losses.
Harry’s life is not dictated by sadness, however. He does have a tendency to brood, but his emotions usually feed into direct action. It lends to a certain sensitivity in him. Harry is kept from becoming too arrogant or power-hungry due to his attentiveness to others and care for their feelings. He possesses a very Cancerian need for a home and family, which explains why he loves staying at The Burrow. Harry desperately needs to feel familial warmth and acceptance, and Mercury’s link with Uranus in the eleventh house proves that the answer to Harry’s need for family can be found in his friends, who have become his surrogate family. This also indicates a willingness to befriend unusual or unpopular people and remain loyal to them, perhaps acting on a deep “misfit bond.”
VENUS | GEMINI, 25°40'6" | SEVENTH HOUSE
Venus determines indicates how affection is expressed and what qualities are sought after in a partner. Harry’s Venus is in Gemini, meaning his romantic side is dynamic, curious, and easily bored. He is drawn to wit but his near-blunt honesty finds hesitation in being forthcoming about his feelings for people. It’s in his seventh house, meaning love is usually expressed in close relationships and long-term partnerships. Harry is friendly, warm, open and tolerant toward others. He is also very witty and humorous, and he is able to amuse and please others especially those he shares a similar sense of humor with. To put it out there : he is very crushable.
What Harry seeks ( read : desperately needs ) is a stable influence to love him and be the recipient of all the love he has to give in return. However, given Pluto’s influence on Venus he’s is not likely to date around in pursuit of the right partner. Although men with Venus in Gemini can tend to casually date many different partners, the rest of Harry’s chart shows a bone-deep sense of loyalty and how serious he is about love to ever dole out his affections frivolously.
He is drawn toward assertive, spirited, and active ( read: jocks ) individuals. He prefers someone who is straightforward with their feelings and intentions, especially in an area where he feels most vulnerable and anxious. Harry craves long-term commitment and stability, so often riddled with social insecurity though it presents itself as being aloof rather than shy. He is endowed with innate charisma, so while people are often drawn to him he sometimes feels at a loss with what to do next. Mars in Libra gives us a hint that Harry is just not as aggressive in his love life as in other areas.
MARS | LIBRA, 12°7'36" | TENTH HOUSE
Mars is the planet of aggression. It determines how Harry asserts himself and how he presents himself when he’s angry. Harry’s Mars is in Libra, and while it may take him a minute to make a decision he often asserts himself in a way that is fair-minded and relativistic though he does trend towards being passive aggressive. It’s in his tenth house, meaning you put a lot of energy into goals, success, and responsibility. Mars is concerned with fighting unrelentingly, while Pluto presents it own formidable areas of focus. Paired with Mars in the tenth house, Harry’s status of “ Chosen One ” actually isn’t all that surprising. This placement also enables Harry with the determination to see this particular destiny through to the end, and makes him apt at handling the pressures he’s so often saddled with.
A Libran influence of harmony and kindness is bestowed upon this aspect, pointing towards Harry’s true nature. Harry’s temper may cause him to have ( occasional ) vengeful thoughts, but he is much more inclined to settle on more peaceful ways of resolving conflict. He seeks out cooperation, and thrives in a collaborative environment. Harry is drawn to finding new evils to conquer, meaning even in post-war life his sense of destiny will never truly be fulfilled. Harry is someone who will always be willing to fight for what is right, and given his aversion of holding / seeking power he is not at risk for being swayed towards a more tyrannically / murderous approach.
With Venus, Harry really does have love on his side, and his willingness to fight is his ultimate love language. Harry’s life’s work will always be viewed as being a labor of love, never of hatred. He seeks out friendly competition, very much enjoying the benefits of it. Harry has the ability to sense injustice and the desire to take corrective actions to make proper compensations. All in all, Harry’s approach to conflict is very even-keel, surprising for someone so driven by emotion.
JUPITER | VIRGO, 11°34'27" | NINTH HOUSE
One of the two social planets, Jupiter rules idealism, optimism, and expansion. It’s also very philosophical. Harry’s Jupiter is in Virgo, meaning he grows and finds understanding through careful thought, goal-setting, and hard work. It’s in his ninth house, meaning he finds success through the creation of meaning, rather than simply contemplating it. Again, with any relationship or social-leaning, Harry is drawn towards action as his language.
He feels most at ease and content with himself when he is doing something that he considers practical or useful. Responsibility, for Harry, brings about a certain amount of comfort in believing he is not burdening those around him. Harry is often disappointed when he is not trusted with enough responsibility and will even take on tasks that others seem to avoid. He demands very little for himself in life, and needs to be careful to temper his guilt over anything he can deem as too self-indulgent.
Harry is an analytical thinker, on a broad level. His function within his core relationships is typically to be the one who keeps his eye on the larger goal at hand, and as such Harry can often be looked to when people need guidance or direction in their lives. Harry’s ability to think deep and remain general optimistic about those around him allows him to see good in people, and he can often be a guiding force towards setting them on the right track ( even better, he can do this without even realizing what effect he has had ).
SATURN | VIRGO, 24°1'34" | NINTH HOUSE
The other social planet, Saturn rules responsibility, restrictions, limits, boundaries, fears, and self-discipline. Your Saturn is in Virgo, meaning you struggle with perfectionism, a critical eye, workaholic tendencies, and your need to be pure. It’s in your ninth house, meaning you have had difficulties with the creation of personal meaning.
Your life must be orderly and practical and full of known and familiar routines in order for you to feel comfortable with yourself. Be careful, however, not to let “order” become the be-all and end-all of your life, or you may become cold, crass and unfeeling. Doing useful, practical things boosts your self- esteem. Abstract concepts and reasoning seem frivolous and a waste of time to you. You are very critical of yourself (and others), indeed at times quite self-deprecating. Try to relax a bit and allow yourself the freedom to fail once in a while. However, you probably won’t fail very often because you are such a perfectionist.
URANUS | SCORPIO, 21°30'5" | TWELFTH HOUSE
Uranus stays in each sign for seven years, meaning it rules a generation more than a person. It rules innovation, rebellion, and progress. Harry’s Uranus is in Scorpio, meaning other generations are shocked by his peer’s intensity, passion, and hunger for power. It’s in his twelfth house, meaning that for Harry, this manifests in rebelling against dated expectations ( particularly around secrecy ).
Harry’s generation demands to confront life at its deepest and most meaningful levels. Harry tends towards being compulsive and obsessive in just about everyone, but through this he is unwilling to accept anything that is casual or superficial ( again, circling back to relationships ). This also means this generation will seek out and explore new methods of healing as well as different ways to deal with deep-seated emotional problems. Perfect for post-war healing.
NEPTUNE | SAGITTARIUS, 20°9'21" | FIRST HOUSE
Neptune stays in each sign for around fourteen years, meaning it again rules a generation more than a person. It also rules dreams, imagination, and the unconscious. Harry’s Neptune is in Sagittarius, meaning his entire generation finds inspiration through its expanded horizons, a desire for freedom, optimism, and curiosity. It’s in his first house, meaning that for Harry, this manifests in your ideal ( verging on unrealistic and impractical ) about his dreams, inner life, and self-image—and, because it’s his first house, his Neptune in Sagittarius is hyper-present in your personality.
Harry oftentimes found himself disappearing into a rich inner world through the various traumas of his life. It is hinted towards this being a key factor in what allowed him to cope, in any regard, to the abuses he faced as a child. However, this can also get away from him. Harry’s dreams and desires so often get tangled up that he mistakingly takes them as truth and finds himself wishing for the impossible, being let down when it doesn’t come to fruition. Despite all other evidence, Harry believes James was the one who saved him in Prisoner of Azkaban. His momentum and forward-thinking allows him to save himself at the last minute, but this sort of wishful thinking never exactly goes away.
Harry, and his entire generation, will be at the forefront of humanitarian attempts to improve the lot of those who are in need of assistance. They are comfortable with the idea that progress takes the work of groups, and so he finds himself in the company of like-minded peers throughout his life.
PLUTO | LIBRA, 19°16'21" | TENTH HOUSE
Pluto stays in each sign for up to thirty years, so it again rules a generation more than a person. It rules power, intensity, obsession, and control. Harry’s is in his tenth house, meaning he and his peers are fixated on transforming outdated definitions of success and responsibility.

Credits to: @suhdays once again for creating the cover! Happy Valentines day!
Tumblr media
Seokjin kneads at the dough of what is to become the toastiest of baguettes while flour paints his arms, and his gloved hands grow achy from the continuous batches. Special orders flow numerously as the holidays inch closer, and with Valentine’s day approaching its turn, it has been long hours of consistently baking and recreating desserts for the hopeless romantics. Inwardly he knows he is guilty of such fondness for a face haunts every crevice of his mind even in the odd hours of the evening when he tosses and turns in his sleep.
The ring of the door signals another customer prompting Seokjin to slip off his current gloves to exchange for new ones, lifting his head to see none other than who makes his heart leap every single time- you. Smiling brightly in his direction, he gulps before putting on his confident face. “Welcome back! I’m glad to see the macarons didn’t scare you away,” he chuckles while you press fingertips of pure chagrin to your forehead.
“I consumed all thirty of them and I’m not sure if I should be ashamed or proud, but I surprisingly survived,”
Quiet murmurs of customers are sporadic throughout the space, yet their wandering eyes remain on the décor of the bakery, hardly noticing the sparks glimmering between you and your favorite worker. “Whoa,” Seokjin bellows, “And, I’m not sure if I should applaud you or tell you to beware. Sugar can be brutal,”
“Well, with your recipes, I’d say it’s worth the risk.” It’s a subtle flirt, yet the flattery in Seokjin’s eyes melt your heart.
“What can I get for you today?” Seokjin’s covered palms press against the freshly sanitized glass as he stares at you contently. Every chance you get, you enter this very bakery in the hopes of seeing Kim Seokjin, and every chance you get, you take home another treat that you save for your cheat day after a long week of work. Out of every local bakery, you have yet to find one that tops the way Seokjin bakes. He has a knack for ingredients and everything you have tried has been sent straight from the pearly gates of Heaven. But you are also convinced that Seokjin was God sent too because when you first discovered this place, you did not expect the immediate spark when you locked with his kind, umber eyes.
Hearts must have danced in elegant spirals around your frame while you witnessed the light movement of his hair when he turned in what seemed in slow motion to face you- plump, pink lips spread into a warm smile, teeth whiter than the whites of your eyeballs, his skin was clearer than the windows, and the way your mouth watered at the sight of his broad shoulders- you are not sure if you even breathed for a straight minute. He welcomed you with kindness and surprisingly tolerated your indecisiveness on what to purchase, but inwardly you were trying all you could to remain in his presence because something about him reveled serenity. And you wanted every part of it.
Seeing Seokjin sparked slumbers of exuberant pink paths prodding beneath your dancing shoes that are clacking in the direction of the delightful smell of marshmellows where sky tower lollipops align the world with their colorful swirls glistening beneath the brightly lit sky without a sign of melting. Vines of licorice would twist along chocolate trunks with branches growing gummy-like leaves matching the scrumptious hues of your surroundings. Rainbows of hard candies trickled along the ground to decorate the view prompting the compulsion to sink your teeth into every delicacy especially when your eyes would cast upon the pastel colors of macarons- flavors of creams protruding between the slices. You would barely miss his silhouette exploring amongst a bed of gumdrops that sat a far distance from an enormous peppermint pinwheel breezing against stalks of blue and pink clouds of cotton candy.
Visions of prancing gummy bears decorate a mountain of frozen ice cream while gingerbread men scope the milky river to avoid being caught by the currents desperate to travel the terrain as you longed to with the man lost in this wonderland of a universe. Oreo crumbs trail on either side of the stream, the smell of chocolate wafts in your direction while you continue the journey. Humming to yourself, your adventure is to endeavor the red velvet island- cream cheese frosting fluffing in an appearance of frames of pictures of more delights as well as smeared professionally into an imagined ceiling. The deep red, walls caked firmly with countless desserts poised in different areas of the domain tempted tourists passing by into taking a bite of their delectable treats.
Nearing the entrance, you would pause, recognizing him pirouetting throughout the greenery resembling grass but is edible as everything made in this dream you are infatuated by. When the pang of something grasps your attention, you searched your eyes along the sky- not noticing anything right away and when you returned your glance to where you found him, he disappeared. Halted in curiosity, you gasp at the tap on your shoulder. Crescent eyes beaming while he brushes his fingers along your gleaming lips, and that’s when your fantasy would wonder the feel of his kiss. The taste of strawberries encompassed your tongue once you would lean into him, but when something else nickered your frame, you pulled away. In awe, you observe minuscule, circular sprinkles shower the two of you in surprise. They tangle within your hair while boisterous laughter escapes both of you simultaneously- palms rising above your head while you spin, attempting to catch them as they rain. Shuffling the sprinklings within your hands, you are in love with the resilient colors brightening the atmosphere as it heightened the happiness.
The dream that has become your most cherished- golden pinecones stick to floating silvery cotton where chocolate cupcakes with thick swirls of white icing blend with red, glistening ornaments- the aroma of fresh pastries with shiny, red jelly are enticed with powdered sugar; thistles of brush dangling above while you whirl around at the enchanting view. Polka dots beautify the walls imaging fondant icing while slithers of whipped cream dazzle the rest of the desserts present. It doesn’t take long before an existence melts behind you, wrapping his arms around your frame, plopping his chin onto your shoulder. It’s the sweetness of his countenance, the plush kiss he places on the corner of your jaw; the delicate aura you are scared can magically disappear; the delicious taste of his kiss when he twirls you to capture your lips, pinning you against another wall reflecting swirls of cinnamon, fingers pressing into your waist while your hands grip his plumy tufts in desperation for more. Sprinkles clang numerously within the walls miraculously not needing a sky to downpour; lips locked and lost in time, it finalizes the fantasy where you wake up with a dazed smile.
“Please tell me you’re not contemplating macarons again,” Seokjin’s voice breaks through the cloud of thoughts bringing you back to reality while you awkwardly suppress the burn of a blush flooding your chest. “I purposely withheld your favorite flavors in hopes of you trying something new.”
“Oh, you brute, I should have known!” You laugh, seeing his shoulders shake in response to his teasing toward you, “So new? Like, new new or never had before new? I um… You know, I was actually planning on trying something new today,” you do not mean to lie, but you kind of lie.
“You had every intention on getting your usuals, and I have bamboozled you.”
“Alright, sir, two can play at this game because I can always go to Hoseok’s bakery-”
“Okay now you’re just being cruel!” Seokjin’s laugh is your favorite sound as he chuckles. Hoseok is his competition but also his best friend, and he is aware that Hoseok has been gaining much success with the recent opening of his bakery, but of course your heart belongs with Seokjin and his glorious, scrumptious delicacies warm and inviting within the glass casings.
“It is called revenge, and I shall prevail.” You wink.
Shaking his head, he quiets but only enough before he lifts his gaze to yours once again, “Speaking of anything new, I think I may have something in mind that you might like actually. I’m preparing to add another dessert to the menu, but I need someone to taste test to make sure it’s good enough to sell to the general public. Would you like to be the judge?” Seokjin leans off the glass casing still smiling at you while your eyebrows shoot up in excitement.
“Hm,” you release a purposeful ponder, “When are you wanting to showcase?”
“How about on Valentine’s day itself? I will be closing the shop early and you can come by after hours. Besides, I don’t really have anything else to do, and when I get bored, I bake.”
Boldly, you tilt your head, a knowing smile budding on your lips, “Are you asking me on a date, Seokjin?”
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t.” Your heart flutters in reaction to his tender grin that follows his words. You have dreamed for countless months to win this man’s affections and here you are, about to experience your first date with him on Valentine’s day of all days.
“Well, I guess I will see you this weekend,” you muse, “I have high expectations for whatever you create, Seokjin.” Turning on a heel, you shift ever so slightly to throw him a chirpy shrug. Outwardly, it is all a show of composure though your inner self is screaming in joyous bursts mirroring the fireworks going off beneath his chest.
When Valentine’s day comes, Seokjin goes all out in early hours of the morning before the shop opens, red streams curl from the walls where he carefully tapes them- red, pink, and white balloons hover along the ceiling to bring more colors and the very second, he closes for the day, he will paint the floor with a myriad of rose petals while candles flicker upon the tables sporadically. He wants to prove to you that he has been waiting for this moment for a long time and he will celebrate you every day if you let him. A bundle of dark red roses lay hidden in his office as well as a heart shaped box of what one would assume is the typical fill of chocolates, but nay, it is holding the surprise of your favorite macaron flavors, just to add to the dessert that he is elated to make. He begins his swift trek to the kitchen, collecting all the ingredients and sprawling them along the counter in preparation before the crowd sets in. And when they do, he serves the happy couples with all smiles, looking forward to whenever he gets to see you.
When the hour comes for the bakery to close, he rushes to finish up the pastry, pouring melted chocolate as the completing touch. “Perfect,” he whispers, protecting the sweets with a lid to maintain the heat. A soft knock on the door makes his heart skip a beat as he briefly flings his apron on the counter, dusting off any crumb excess off his clothes and ruffling his hair before throwing a mint in his mouth. Releasing a slow exhale, he smiles, “Operation, win her heart.”
Sauntering to the entrance, he pauses in awe. Your hair is styled flawlessly while the red, shimmery dress clings to your figure complimenting a pair of high heels. Makeup covers your face in an exceptional amount where the color of your eyes shine, once you see him- mouth ajar, eyes widening in reaction, he robotically opens the door to invite you in. The smell of roses and small hints of lemon reach your nostrils calming the anxiety quivering within your fingertips. Seokjin looks so handsome as he always does, the black turtleneck hugging his torso while the tan slacks hang slightly loose against his long legs. “You look amazing,” you murmur, him shaking his head to bring himself back to the present.
“I can say the exact same to you. You look… God, you look-”
“Proper? Trim? Elegant? …Alluring-”
“All of the above,” he says breathlessly, “But you always look so beautiful,”
Blushing at his compliment, it is hard for you to stay serious sometimes especially when you are nervous, so your eyes scan the décor of the building, “I love what you’ve done with the place,” you step forward with the click of a heel, noticing the rose petals glinting upon the mahogany colored floor.
“I was hoping you would say that.” he clears his throat, “But here, have a seat, I have the dessert ready as well as a few other surprises,” he skids a chair out for you as you descend in shock. Other surprises? He disappears but only for a few minutes before he confidently returns with a lidded case covering whatever it is, he has made just for you. His other hand hides behind his back as he effortlessly places the tray upon the table. “And walla,” he smirks, lifting the lid as your eyes enlarge at the golden brown pastries pressing against a truffle of cream, some protruding delicately on the sides as melted chocolate trickles from the pastry and onto the plate. The sight is so tasty, and you can feel your mouth watering as the smell of the treat becomes prevalent.
“What is this?” You say in uttermost anticipation as he chuckles at your readiness.
“Profiteroles,” he replies, “They are one of my absolute favorites, and I have been wanting to make them for some time but haven’t until now.”
“Try one with me,” you break eye contact with the mesmerizing profiteroles to stare into the chocolate of Seokjin’s eyes, “But after you reveal what is behind your back.”
When a hearty laugh brushes past his widened smile, you are beyond yourself when he gradually brings into your line of vision, a bundle of roses and a heart shaped box, “You are not allowed to open the box until you eat a profiterole though,” Seokjin playfully demands, “So until then, I will protect this box at all costs.”
“I promise I will not touch until you say so. You have my word,” you raise your hands in defense to add to your statement. Seokjin sits across from you, settling the gifts next to the plate. Soft music reverberates suddenly to drown the silence as you feel your heart flying- you are certain that no one has ever done anything as sweet as this for you.
“Are you ready?” He says, scooting the plate closer to you.
“Very ready,” reaching carefully, you grab the treat, knowing very well that you want to devour it whole, and when you do, the cream mingled with the chocolate melts on your tongue deliciously as you close your eyes hazy. “Oh, my word,” you breathe, wanting another one immediately. “This is delicious! You have met every expectation! Jin, customers are going to love these!” The nickname flew from your mouth so naturally and instead of verbally responding, Seokjin chortling a high pitch laugh, leans forward, reaching his thumb to swipe a spot of chocolate from the corner of your mouth. The gesture is so sweet, you can’t help but gaze at him as he returns his hand back to lay on the table. “Have you tried one yet?” You speak softly. “You should. You’re phenomenal.”
He swats the air, “I’ll have one later. Your opinion matters to me the most anyways,”
“You?” Speechless, your eyes flit between his, nothing but admiration falls from his stare. “How do you do it? How do you make my mind drift to the happiest of places? I swear you just- I can’t- it doesn’t matter where I am, I am not happy until I see you.”
Reaching across the table, he leans forward, intertwining his fingers with yours as cliché as a movie, but this is the only movie you are willing to watch where the fairytale of him is connecting with you. “That’s why I always made sure your usuals were made as soon as I arrived. I didn’t want to disappoint nor have you betray me for Hoseok. Plus, he prefers coconut macaroons, not macarons.”
“The distinction between how they are actually pronounced. Thank you for clarifying,” there is nobody that has made you laugh as much as he has. “In all seriousness though, I don’t think I’ve ever had anything to look forward to until I found you.”
“And I couldn’t focus unless I knew who you were and if I was going to see you again. That’s why I always made conversation no matter how small until time gave me enough courage to finally ask you to be here.”
“Well, I am very glad that you asked.” Smiles linger while eyes remain connected. He has the most eloquent, gentle manly charm and you hope he will end up being your eventual forever one day.
“Come here,” In one flawless swoop, Seokjin reaches for the arm of your chair, sliding it closer to where your legs touch. Surprised laughter serenades his ears once the chair is paused, but the nearness of him sends tingles along your skin. A faint scent of cologne grips to his clothes igniting the further desire building from the crave on your lips. He leans in, you meeting halfway to close the gap in the softest brush of his kiss. Sunlight exposes through the windows to illuminate in response to the magic happening right now in this moment. Linking your arms behind his neck, he wraps his around you, tugging you closer, deepening the kiss- getting so lost in you that nothing else outside of this bakery matters- only you matter.
Feeling his smile within his kiss, you pull away but still close enough to feel his breath swiping your chin, you giggle, “So what’s in the box?”
“I guess you’ll have to see,” he presses a quick, giddy kiss. You squeezing him once ecstatically.
“Okay, but first, let me get some more sugar.” You move your palms to squish his cheeks to where his lips pucker. “I don’t know about you, but I like it brutal.” And with that, you kiss him again, letting destiny complete its story on a day you never dreamed would mean so much.

His Biggest Fan
Summary: A little rewrite of the vending machine scene from OH1 Ch1. This was inspired by the replay for the Open Heart Book Club.
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x MC (Jillian Valentine).
Word Count: 2216 words.
A/N: I followed a lot of the game script but also added a little. I merged a few choices because I'm an indecisive little shit that loved both options 😂 And I also hated that Landrat kept Ethan's autograph, so I fixed it. As always, feedback is much appreciated! (please, I crave it)
Tumblr media
“Wait! It’s you, isn’t it?”
“What?” Jillian furrowed his eyebrows at the other intern’s exclamation, deeply confused. On the outside, her face was a perfect mask of calm, but on the inside, she started to feel a wave of anxiousness threatening to suffocate her by the thought of being recognized.
“You’re the intern who did the thoracotomy with him this morning?”
“Yeah.” she shook her head, letting out the breath she had been holding, “And he ripped me a new one in front of everyone. It was so unbelievably-”
“Lucky!” Landry exclaimed, earning a puzzled look from her, “Ethan Ramsey actually talked to you! Ugh, this is what I get for getting to work an hour early. If I saw him in person, I’d probably just…”
As much as Jillian admired the man, she really couldn’t understand how Landry could describe her humiliation as a moment of luck. She was many things, proud being one of them, so she only felt indignant about what had happened that morning, nowhere near as happy as Landry.
“It was intimidating.” she shrugged, but raised an eyebrow when Landry froze up, staring wide-eyed in panic, “Landry? You okay?” he pointed past her, and as she turned around, she saw him there, talking to a nurse down the hall, the one and only Doctor Ethan Ramsey, “Crap, he’s coming this way. Hide me.”
“Hide you?! Hide me!” Landry squeaked.
“Jillian, stop.” she ordered herself, gathering her pride and dignity, “What am I doing? I can’t let my first day go like this. Okay, I’m… I’m gonna go talk to him.”
“The man once tore apart the research of the A.M.A.’s president… during the president’s keynote address! Are you sure about this?” Landry gasped.
“Landry, sometimes you just gotta… risk it.” Jillian grinned, “I’m always sure about what I do. It might not be the brightest idea, but at least I’m sure. I’m doing this. Would you let me borrow your copy of his book?”
Landry only nodded, still shocked in place. After taking Landry’s copy of Diagnostic Principles, Jillian marched down the hall toward Doctor Ramsey, who had stopped by an elderly patient’s room. Even from the hall, she could hear the patient hollering.
“I’m not going to ask you again, Barb.” Ramsey said tiredly.
“Forget about it, Doctor Ramsey. I’m busting outta this joint. I’ll tie the bedsheets together and rappel out of the window.” the older woman threatened.
“Don’t wait up on my account. In fact, I might break out of here with you.” for the first time, Jillian saw Ethan smiling, which surprised her and dazzled her in equal parts.
“I mean it! I don’t have my favorite armchair, and I’m bored without my puzzles.”
“And I’m bored of your excuses, Barb. Whine all you want, I’m not going anywhere until you take your medication.”
Ethan muttered to himself as he walked away from the entrance of the room and headed to a vending machine in the hall. He slid a dollar bill into the machine, but just stood there with his arms folded, not selecting anything.
“Hi, Doctor Ramsey.” Jillian approached with the most charming smile she could muster.
He glanced up at her for a split second with bemusement, before looking back at the machine, “Rookie. Back there, were you… hiding from me?”
“No, I don’t hide.” she stated confidently, showing the book, “I was actually hoping you might sign this book.”
“Autographs? Don’t you have work to be doing? Or at least other attendings to irritate?”
“Nope, just you.” she grinned, knowing it would only push his buttons.
“Interns.” he sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, “I should have guessed. Well, if you have something else to say, then say it.”
“I just wanted to tell you I’m your biggest fan.”
Jillian hated to admit that; after all, it irritated her immensely when people said that about her parents or older siblings. She knew idolatry was pointless and frankly annoying, but for some reason, she wanted, needed, Ethan to know just how much she admired him and how much he had played part in the decision of becoming a doctor. She shared the same love, intrigue and aptitude for medicine as her family, but after much research, she knew becoming a doctor, a human one, was her calling. And the formidable Ethan Ramsey had inspired her enough to stand up to her family and choose her own path.
He still didn’t look away from the vending machine, half-listening, “My biggest fan? Is that right?”
“I’ve read all your papers: systemic amyloidosis, Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome, spinocerebellar ataxia…” at that, he turned to look at her directly, and Jillian straightened her posture slightly, refusing to back down, and instead held his sharp blue gaze, “You inspired me to go to medical school.”
“That ataxia paper was my undergrad thesis. That medical journal isn’t even published anymore. You tracked that down?” he seemed impressed.
“I can give you my copy… if you’d like.”
The way her voice had dropped to a sultry tone made it seem like she was offering something far less innocent and far more appealing than a simple copy of one of his papers. He tilted his head, intrigued for a moment, and then turned back to the machine.
“That won’t be necessary.” Ethan cleared his throat, and glanced back at the snacks display, “But I don’t think that’s what you came here to tell me.”
It was Jillian’s time to look intrigued. Over the years, she had perfected the art of hiding her thoughts and concealing her emotions with polite smiles and bored looks. She knew how to play the manipulation game with closed eyes, even if she didn’t do it frequently. But what had thrown her off base was that, somehow, Ethan could see right through her. The way he read her wasn’t something she was used to, and she still wasn’t sure if she liked it or not.
“Okay, I also came to assure you that I won’t let you down again.” she conceded.
He didn't even bother to look at her this time, “You can see the future? If so, you’ll make a remarkable physician.”
“Of course not. I just meant–”
“You will let me down again, Rookie. What’s more, you’ll let yourself down. Over and over.” he interrupted her and Jillian looked away, starting to regret even trying to talk to the man, but at last, Doctor Ramsey turned to stare directly at her, his blue eyes connecting with her honey-colored ones, “But what matters is that you get back on your feet each and every time, and push yourself to be better.”
Jillian was rendered speechless. She hadn’t expected him to give motivational and helpful advice, but here he was, proving her he wasn’t just another heartless, arrogant, know-it-all doctor as she had first gathered. Though she took his advice to heart and imprinted it in her brain, she didn’t dare say anything in return. After a few seconds in silence, she noticed how his eyes kept flicking to the chocolate bar in the top corner of the vending machine.
“I was always a salty snacks kind of girl myself, you know, popcorn, chips, that stuff.”
“That’s truly fascinating, but I’m not-”
“I know you’re not getting something for yourself.” Jill interrupted him, “You’re trying to pick something to cheer up Barbara in there, right?”
“How’d you figure that?”
“Just paying attention.” she mused with a soft smile, “You know, I bet I could pick out just the thing.”
“I doubt it. Barbara’s even more stubborn than you. She’s refused to take her pills for two days. But be my guest, it’s a hopeless endeavor.”
He didn’t think she could do it. In fact, he was looking at her like he was expecting her to fail, and not specifically in Barbara’s case. Jillian straightened her back at the challenge and scanned the contents of the vending machine. Her honey-colored eyes glinted in delight as soon as she spotted the hot cocoa. It was, after all, a comforting classic, and one of her personal favorites. Without a second to waste, she pressed the numbers for the chocolate. The machine whirred and the cocoa powder pack plunked out into the tray.
“Hot chocolate?” Doctor Ramsey looked down at her with condescendence, wanting to scoff at her cliché choice.
Jillian filled up a mug with hot water from the machine at the nurses’ station, and stirred in the cocoa. Once she made sure the drink was ready, she handed it to Ethan.
“How exactly is this supposed to-?”
“Come on, Doctor Ramsey, it’s hot chocolate. It’s bound to work, especially if she’s feeling restless and homesick.”
“That’s a big guess you’re taking there.”
“Don’t be so stubborn.” Jillian chastised him, “Look, just give it to her, okay? Trust me.”
“I don’t trust you.” he muttered.
“Well, you could always keep trying your way, but you don’t seem to be too successful at that either.”
He narrowed his eyes at her, but still took the mug and headed back into Barbara’s room. Jillian rested against the wall for a few minutes while she waited for him to be back. He soon returned with a perplexed look on his face.
“That got her to take the pills. I can’t believe it.” his mouth fell open in shock and he blinked a few times, “So, are you gonna tell me how you worked that one out?”
“Nope.”
“No?”
“A girl’s gotta have some secrets.”
Because if she had read him right, and she definitely thought she had, Ethan Ramsey was the kind of man who liked being in control of the situation and having answers to everything, down to the minimum detail. Why make it easier for him? She could keep him as frustrated as he made her feel. It was only fair.
“You’re really going to hold out on me?”
“I’m going for an air of mystery.” she flirted, “Is it working?”
“Mildly.”
Despite his best efforts, Ethan couldn’t help the smile that broke out into his face. It was hard not to respond in some way to the joyful expression on her face that made her eyes sparkle and turned her cheeks a lovely shade of soft pink. He caught himself after a few seconds, and looked away to compose the direction of his thoughts.
Jillian hadn’t noticed any of this, too occupied staring at the machine to avoid focusing on the handsome attending in front of her. It was then that she saw there were still 50 cents left over from Ethan’s dollar. She turned and pressed the numbers in the machine, and took the chocolate bar he was previously eyeing from the tray.
“And who is that for?”
“You.” Jillian tossed him the chocolate bar. He grabbed it with ease, but with raised eyebrows and a confused expression on his face, “I saw you kept staring at it earlier. You know, it’s okay to treat yourself sometimes.” He looked down at the chocolate in his hands with surprise, not having expected her to be that considerate with him.
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
Jill turned to walk away, “See you around, Doctor Ramsey.”
“Wait.” he stopped her and motioned for the book, “Give it here.”
He took Landry’s copy of Diagnostic Principles and turned to the nurses’ station to look for a pen to sign it. However, Jillian wasn’t the only observant person in the room. With just one look at the condition of the book, Ethan knew it wasn’t hers. He didn’t know her personally, but Jillian looked like the kind of perfectionist who would never highlight or write in a book, the kind of person who would take care of a book as if it was the most valuable possession and have it in perfect condition. That book in his hands had a lot of markers and scribbles, some pages were folded, and part of the cover was peeled off. It definitely didn’t look like her book. So, he signed the first page of the book, but additionally took a post-it from the nurses’ station and scrawled a quick message on it for her, before he returned and tossed the book back to her.
“Now get back to work, Valentine.”
That made her stop in her tracks, her honey-colored eyes wide in shock, “You remembered my name?”
“Just paying attention.” he threw back at her with a smirk before walking off.
Jillian opened the book in curiosity and read Ethan’s inscription on the post-it.
‘For my biggest fan. Don’t let me down. ~Dr. Ethan Ramsey.’
A bright smile lit up her whole face, and she quickly took the post-it and put it in her pocket, before returning to Landry and showing him the book.
“You’re still alive!” he shrieked in surprise, “And… I can’t believe it, you got my copy signed! I absolutely love it.”
Landry charged forward and squeezed Jillian in an awkward hug, causing her to flinch in discomfort and pat his back a couple of times before pulling away.
“Okay, yeah, you’re welcome…” she tried to smile politely and make up an excuse, “Come on. I’m getting paged and, I don’t know about you, but I’m still completely lost…”
“Yeah, let’s go.”

Unexpected Reunion| {Enji Todoroki/Endeavor}
@unfaithfulmemories: Hi, I see that you are taking requests. Could I ask for an Endeavor x male reader Pro-hero that started dating Enji during their UA years but then Enji ghosted the reader and after a few years the reader decides to go on a dating app and reconnects with Enji without knowing it's him and it ends with a passionate night? Maybe a time skip where they are married and the reader adopts the Todoroki kids under his name
I MOVED ACCOUNTS
I’m so happy that you asked me to write about endeavor since he’s literally one of my favs
The story’s ending might be a bit eh but I’m proud of the overall story so I hope you still like it😊😊
Pairing: Endeavor x Male!Reader
Words: 3.6k
Warnings: mentions of abuse, implied NSFW
Requests: Closed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Hawks suggested that he should consider meeting someone after being single for an admittedly long amount of time, Enji promptly shut the smaller man down. Between trying to maintain his duties as the #1 Hero and fixing the rift he caused within his family, he had no time to even think of trying to enter the dating scene.
The #2 Hero still tried to convince him until He said how Endeavor was a quote: “Lonely old man who needed to get some.”
After that, the larger man snapped, glaring at the winged hero. Flames growing larger in anger as he growled out how “his love life was none of Hawks’ business” and then stomped out of the room.
But now there he was The Endeavor, sitting in his bedroom after his shift, on his phone staring at the dating app sign up screen, blushing. Cursing himself for acting so childish he finally started filling out his information into the required boxes.
It started off easy enough just the usual information:
Name: Enji Todoroki
Username: Endeavor#1
Gender, email, number, and password.
Though it was the last question that made him pause.
Sexual preference
It should be obvious, he liked women, but even having said that his finger still hovered over the screen. It didn’t feel right. He thought of his previous relationships, which was admittedly a small amount to remember, and.. Nothing.
He had felt no attraction to the people he had been with previously, even thinking of a woman’s body did nothing for him if anything, he felt the opposite of how he thought he should. But there was that one time in UA where he experimented, he dated another man it was only for a little while, about 2 months. He couldn’t remember his name but he could clearly remember those (e/c) eyes and how they made him feel. He felt heat prickle the top of his ears and spread down to the back of his neck.
He swallowed thickly and idled there for a few more moments staring at the screen before he took a deep breath and pressed the male option and pressed sign up before he could change his mind.
Now all that’s left is setting up his profile.
Description, he thought for a moment before typing:
“Looking for a romantic relationship with someone who can be independent and not a pushover.”
Now for photos.. how do you take decent photos?
He went through other profiles to see what kind of photos he should take.
The most common ones were selfies and.. shirtless mirror pictures. It’s ridiculous and he should delete the damn app and curse Hawks for giving him the idea in the first place.
But here he was, standing in his bathroom in front of the large mirror with his hero costume on flexing for the camera, the next few photos were of him with his flames turned off and without a shirt, and the last pictures were of him in a suit that hugged his body in all of the right places and showed off his muscles through the stretched fabric around his arms, chest, and thighs.
He stared at the photos he took and deleted the worst ones, being left with about 4 photos.
“Good enough.” He muttered as he uploaded them to his profile
now all that's left is to explore potential candidates worthy of being in a relationship with him.
Over the next few days not one person on the app piqued his interest in the slightest, and the ones who were brave enough to message him first were disregarded, they weren’t of any interest or not worthy of being spared even a second of his time.
He sighed as he shut off his phone and flopped onto his bed, dissatisfied and disappointed by his lack of success. He drifted off to sleep hoping to have more success.
He did not have more success. The men he met up with were either easily intimidated and had no backbone or were able to stand their ground and look him in the eye but immediately made their sleazy intentions clear, which is not what he was looking for and it clearly states in his description what the type of relationship he is interested in.
It wasn’t until a few more days passed he got a notification from the app as he walked out of his agency saying he was matched with another person, he grumbled and prepared to swipe it away but the name caught his eye, it seemed familiar but where had he seen it before?
He didn’t get a chance to think about it when he received a message.
“OMG Enji it’s actually you!!”
Such casual use of his first name threw him off, and another ping alerted a new message.
“It’s me (Y/N) we dated in back in high school!!”
That’s why the name sounded so familiar, it was you the male he dated in high school.
He stared at his phone for a moment, all he had to do was respond with something kind.
“Yes I remember you being a thorn in my side”
‘Why am I like this?’ he thought
“Is that why you were an asshole and radio silent on me?”
He blushed, oh right, he was so obsessed with becoming number one that he cut all ties with anyone he deemed useless at helping him achieve his place at the top.
Thinking about it, that wasn’t one of his best choices.
“I apologize for my actions in the past I hope you can forgive my childish behavior, you have every right to be angry with me”
“I was kidding you dummy but if you really want to make it up to me you could look up from your phone screen.”
His brow arched in confusion at the message, look up why would he- oh.
He didn’t know what to do, you were standing there smirking, the sight making heat spread across his cheeks, you were stunning.
You had changed a lot since he had seen you at UA, your muscles are larger and more defined, scars littered your arms ranging from small light scars to large dark ones, gained from years of working with machines and different kinds of equipment no doubt.
You raised a brow “So are you just gonna stand there checking me out or are you going to take me out on a date?”
He jolted and cleared his throat, “I apologize, you surprised me, I wasn’t expecting to see you so soon.”
You sighed “You’re still as stiff as you were back in high school, we need to do something about that.”
What did you mean by that? He wouldn’t have to wait long to find out, as you fished a pen out of your pocket, grabbed his hand and scribbled something on the palm of his hand.
“Here’s my number call me later.” You winked before walking off.
He was stunned, you were just a normal guy who asked him to call you, so why was his heart pounding in his chest, palms sweaty, and an extreme heat covering his face that had nothing to do with his quirk?
After he composed himself Enji took his phone out and added your contact, now he had to wait until later that day to contact you.
------------------
After the encounter, the few hours that remained in his shift that day seemed to drag on forever. He was antsy to end the day, only a few more minutes, all he had to do was finish his reports then he could change and go home. That was easier said than done but he managed.
------------------
When he made it to his room he immediately whipped out his phone fumbling with it before opening a conversation with you.
“Hello, it’s Enji”
Not even a minute later you replied
“Hey! You ready to take me out?”
You were so direct and straight to the point, it was amazing.
“Yes, where shall I meet you?”
You sent him the location and time.
“8:30 Don’t be late ;)”
It was 6:00 so he had time to prepare, but as he sat there staring at his messages he couldn’t help a smile from creeping onto his face.
“So who were you talking to that’s making you smile at your phone?” The soft voice of his daughter made him jolt, smile immediately slipping from his features.
“N-nothing!” He yelled
She chuckled and prepared to leave the room, but before she could leave the doorway, Enji called out for her.
He blushed “W-wait! Actually, I-I need your.. help with something”
She turned to see a flushed Endeavor staring at his feet.
“I need your help looking for something to wear for a d-date”
She was taken aback, him going on a date, it was.. unexpected to say the least, but she couldn’t help the warm smile from tugging at her lips. He’s finally doing something positive and trying to move past the negativity.
Fuyumi sighed “Ok I’ll help”
He looked up to her grateful and gave a silent thanks, now he had to get ready to meet you near the train station and start the date.
------------------
Which is where he found himself wearing one of his casual button-down shirts and form-fitting jeans. ‘I hope this is good enough’ he thought, glancing at his appearance as he waited for you to show up.
It was now around 30 minutes after you were supposed to be there, Enji now tapping his foot in impatience, nervousness now replaced with annoyance. Grumbling “How dare he make me wait this long” under his breath.
He whipped his phone out about to send you a message when he heard. “Hey! Sorry, I’m late!” Your voice sounding sheepish. He huffed “You better have a good explanation as for why you kept me waiting” he stared at you expectantly.
You chuckled and said, “Well I simply lost track of time”
“Now let’s get going we’re wasting daylight” taking his wrist you started dragging him off to your destination.
------------------
The two of you walked for about 10 minutes before you stopped. “This place is amazing, I come here in the morning to get my coffee”
You gestured to a small cafe before walking in. “A lot of heroes usually come by here, it’s very lowkey and they give heroes a discount!”
he glanced around the interior taking note of the small number of people present.
After the two of you ordered you found a booth to sit and began to talk, well, you did most of the talking. You didn’t chat about anything in particular just catching up about what happened after high school. This went on for about an hour after that Enji slowly started to open up, talking more and eventually, he began smiling and laughing with you.
But sadly the date had to end eventually, that left you with Enji walking you home. You couldn’t help but notice from the corner of your eye that Enji was glancing at your hand more than usual, so you took initiative and took his hand in yours. In response, he stiffened up his face flushing, and grip a bit too tight you couldn’t help but tease him.
You looked up at him, winked, and brought his hand up to your lips and left a gentle peck on the back of his hand. Enji’s face burned as the two of you walked the rest of your way to your apartment, hands still Intertwined.
------------------
Walking up to your apartment you and Enji look at each other.
You sigh “So I guess this is my stop”
Enji offered a small nod in response and awkwardly opened his arms for a hug.
Chuckling you accepted his embrace, soaking up his body heat hug lasting longer than usual. After about a minute you pull away from the hug your arms still around his torso, look at Enji and smile, a real smile and not one of your cocky ones “This was the best date I’ve had in a while, thanks”
Enji blushed “I had a great time as well and I hope we can do this again soon”
But as he said that he couldn’t stop staring at your lips you were so close and they looked so enticing, so he took a deep breath, steeled his nerves and took a chance and leaned in connecting your lips with a gentle kiss.
You weren’t expecting Enji to kiss you, so you froze for just a moment before kissing back, his lips were a bit chapped and it was obvious that he hasn’t done this in a while but to you it was great.
The kiss was innocent enough but as the kiss kept going it began to escalate. You felt something soft and warm press against your bottom lip you parted your lips and welcomed his tongue that entered your mouth. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him closer, pressing up against his solid chest he responded by grabbing your waist and doing the same.
He had you pressed against the door panting when you heard it, the laughter you looked around him to see your nosey neighbor's kid was messing around at the park that was direct across from your apartment. You didn’t want your neighbor budding into your love life because her kid saw you kissing a stranger so you pulled away from Enji and pulled out your key to unlock the door.
The two of you barely closed the door before Enji was attacking your lips again. Not wasting a moment the two of you stumbled to your bedroom, a mix of heated moans, clumsy footsteps, and groping hands, the two of you discarding articles of clothing until the two of you were in just underwear.
Enji picked you up and pressed you down onto the mattress kissing down your jaw down to your neck and chest leaving red marks a he went.
He was prepared to be the dominant one until you somehow instantly flipped the two of you around making it where you were on top smirking at him and holding a condom in between your teeth.
You may be the one on his receiving end but Enji knew that you were far from being submissive for him, as you tore open the wrapper with your teeth and looked at him like he was your prey.
He was in for a long night.
------------------
Waking up the next morning the first thing Enji did was to sit up and stretch until he felt the familiar pop of his joints, he looked around his surroundings and noticed that you weren’t in the room with him. Your clothes were missing from the floor and a pair of clothes were neatly folded on the foot of the bed for him.
Quietly he got dressed and went to open the door to exit the room, immediately he was hit by the smell of eggs and bacon.
Walking into the kitchen he blushed as he caught sight of you standing in front of the stove, wearing nothing but a T-shirt tucked into short shorts. They did nothing to hide all of the marks that covered your neck and thighs left behind from the night before.
He couldn’t help but admire your beauty and the way your hips swayed as you quietly hummed a tune under your breath.
“It’s rude to stare you know,” you say over your shoulder
He jumped “S-sorry I didn’t mean to”
You smiled at him and playfully rolled your eyes “It’s fine and stop being so stiff around me you’ve seen me naked and I don’t let just anyone do that ya know”
You turn off the stove and spin around with two plates of bacon and eggs in your hands “now sit, I made breakfast”
Enji sat at the spot at your small dining table that you prepared for him and began eating.
You rubbed the back of your neck “I know it’s not the best but it’s the only thing I know how to make without needing adult supervision”
“It tastes perfectly fine, thank you for making it” Enji defended
You opened your mouth to deny it but his sincere expression made the words dry up and all you could do was let out a sigh and smile back at him.
Enji wanted to see that smile every day.
------------------
After breakfast was finished and everything was put in the sink you and Enji sat on your couch, drank tea, and talked. Mostly just chatting until the conversation about being in a relationship came up.
“(Y/N) there is something I need to talk to you about before any of this continues” Enji looked directly into your eyes.
The two of you held eye contact until he looked down and sighed.
He began telling you of his past, of his goal the reason he left you before, the stuff he’s done to his son and the emotional and physical abuse he’s put the entirety of his family through. Not once did you interrupt him, you let him speak and reveal everything he had done.
After he was finished speaking he couldn’t face you, you must’ve been disgusted with him not that he would blame you. He expected you to reject him, tell him to leave not wanting anything to do with a monster like him.
But that’s not what happened, instead, you reached forwards and cupped his face in your hands and placed a delicate kiss to his lips.
You pulled away “Thank you for telling me, what you did was terrible and you deserve any punishment that you receive.” You paused “But I can see you are trying to change and become a better person.”
You looked him directly in the eyes “And that’s all that matters is that you’re trying and as long as you’re trying I will stand by your side.”
After your speech, Enji only noticed the tears falling from his eyes when you started wiping them away, he latched his arms around your torso pressing his face into your chest, shaking, and sobbing out a chorus of “thank you’s.”
You simply smiled and held him as he cried, you didn’t care that he was staining your shirt with his tears instead, you rubbed circles on his back, placed soft kisses on the crown of his head, and whispered that everything was gonna be okay.
------------------
Ever since that day you and Enji have been on several more dates taking it slow and getting to know each other.
It was about a year later when he invited you over to his home, that was odd considering he hasn't invited you over before because he hasn’t told his kids about you, his daughter Fuyumi being the exception.
Walking up to Enji’s door, your heart was beating a mile a minute it was the first time you were going to meet his children and you were nervous as hell.
Taking a deep breath you lifted a hand and knocked firmly on the door. Not even a minute later the door opened with Enji greeting you with a quick kiss, a thank you for coming before he pulled you inside.
“So I have informed them of someone I wanted them to meet but I haven't told them who exactly they’re meeting” he whispered
As soon as you walked into the living room 3 pairs of eyes were on you, it was an intense staring contest between the four of you.
Enji cleared his throat and gestured to the smaller man “So everyone this is (Y/N) my boyfriend, I hope all of you can get along.”
You took that as your cue to speak “Hey guys nice to finally meet you!” You gave them one of your signature smiles and slap Enji’s back “This loser can’t stop talking about you.”
Enji glared at you “H-hey!” His kids snorted
You ignored him opting to sit next to the boy with half red and half white hair “You must be Shouto” you pinch his cheek lightly “You’re just as adorable as the time I saw you at the sports festival!” He simply blushed and let out a small “thank you.”
Next, you looked to the taller boy with white hair and raised your hand for a high-five “You’re Natsuo!” The boy gave your hand a gentle slap “I love your shirt by the way” you gestured to his shirt that said “FRONT” on it. He gave you a smile “Thanks, finally someone who appreciates my sense of fashion, unlike somebody.” He glanced over to Fuyumi.
You gave her a gentle smile and held out your hand for her to shake “It’s very nice to meet you Fuyumi, I hope I’ve made a good impression on you so far?”
She chucked “Yes you have (Y/N)”
After that you had pleasant conversations with the siblings, getting along with them even Shouto seemed to perk up when you spoke to him.
Enji watched as you effortlessly seemed to make them warm up to you, fitting in so easily it went much better than he thought it would.
He couldn’t help but stare at the empty space on your finger on your left hand and feel the shape of the small velvet box that was at the bottom of his pocket.
Soon his children will have another father, the Todoroki family will have a new member and everyone can take a step forward.
He’ll have to wait until the time is right but for now, he is content with watching his family bond with his boyfriend and future husband.
BNHA Chapter 301 Spoiler Thoughts: Pain, More Pain, Extra Pain, EVERYTHING HURTS
I had to wait until the summary for this chapter came out to get my thoughts across and holy shit, my dudes...  This chapter is so, so deep and adds a lot more to the Todoroki family than I thought possible.  I’m still thinking about all of it as I’m typing this.  But, writing is how I process things sometimes, so I hope this helps all of us:
The chapter starts off with a flashback to when Enji (I’m calling Endeavor by his real name here so long as we’re dealing with his family) proposing to marry Rei to Rei and her family.  Rei is aware of the whole “Quirk Marriage” thing, but she accepts the proposal much to her family’s delight.  What’s surprising here is that it’s implied that Enji expected Rei to say “No”.  I’m honestly kind of shocked here too.
One, I thought because of the whole eugenics thing that Rei and her family would be taken aback by this.  Back in the Sports Fest. Arc, I believe Shoto implied the that Endeavor bought Rei’s hand in marriage with money (it’s been a LONG time, so please correct me on this if I’m wrong).  But they were actually ok with the idea of having Rei be married to a top hero like Endeavor.  Rei seemed more reluctant though the fact that she said “Yes” maybe implies that she had legitimate feelings of love for Enji before shit hit the fan.
Edit: Ok, the fan translations are out.  It’s said that Rei did this for the sake of her family.  I still think she at least started to have legit feelings of love for Enji at some point.
Two, Enji didn’t expect Rei to accept his proposal.  We all know that Enji’s intention was to have a kid that had a Quirk that possessed both fire and ice so that the kid could surpass All Might.  Maybe Enji was looking for other women with ice Quirks before Rei and all of them before her turned him down.  So when Rei accepted, Enji was shocked that someone agreed to what was basically his plan for the future.
The next page shows Enji and Rei on a walk in the park Rei looks at her favorite flowers and Enji asks if she likes them to which Rei says “yes”.  Enji comments on how strong yet fragile Rei is.  It’s such a small scene, but it tells the story so well visually.  I can’t explain it well here, but I think this is where Enji started to see Rei as more of a person to love than something that can help achieve his goal.
Back to the present real quick, we go back to Rei confronting Enji.  She came to see him because things are not okay and they need to face their family’s tragedy head on.  At the same time, Dabi is reflecting on his life and doing his iconic monologuing about how he loved seeing Enji suffer.  He wants the rest of his family to see how he suffered too.  This further establishes how much Dabi wants to see his father be destroyed mentally.  He wants him to reap everything he sewed.  I’ll be damned if Dabi’s plan didn’t work.  Also, Dabi is shown crying blood again as the panel transitions to the Todoroki household with the blood tear seeping into the next panel.  God, I love Horikoshi’s panel structuring A+ stuff.
Back to the past, Enji stopped training little Touya.  His fire Quirk was getting stronger, but so was the ice part of his body.  Touya’s body was meant for the cold, but his fire Quirk counteracts that.  So, Touya’s ultimately harming himself.  This reveals to us that Enji didn’t really stop training Touya because he wasn’t the “perfect specimen” for his plan.  It was mainly because Enji cared about Touya enough that he didn’t want his son to harm himself anymore than he already has.  Enji abused his kids and wife, sure, but he wasn’t always a bad man.  He did love his family before something snapped.
Also, real quick, but there’s a panel that shows Touya’s hair getting progressively whiter.  Specifically the left side of his head.  He looks like the opposite of Shoto actually and I bet you money that that was done on purpose.  Symbolism, my friends.
The next panels shows little Touya and Fuyumi (AWWW 🤍) talking a bit.  Touya’s upset that their dad won’t train him anymore while Fuyumi just doesn’t want her brother to get hurt.  Touya says that girls wouldn’t understand (he’s a kid here, so I’ll let this slide).  It hurts to see how Touya misunderstand the situation here.  I think he ultimately wanted to have love and acceptance from his father via training to make Enji proud.  But training only caused Touya pain.  Pushing Touya away for his own safety ended up making things worse.
I actually can’t describe what happens next (I've seen the panel, but it hasn’t been translated fully yet), but it has something to do with Rei trying to convince Enji not to do something in particular because it would be too cruel.  Touya continued to train alone and he kept getting scars on his skin every day because his ambitions are just as strong as Enji’s.  He didn’t know when to give up.  In the end, Enji knew that Touya couldn’t surpass All Might and he tried to get Touya to give up his ambitions so that he would stop hurting himself.  I think this is where Enji’s drive to have a kid to surpass All Might started to take over his love for his family.  I want to comment more on this part, but I think I’ll have to wait until the full chapter comes out.  I’ll add an edit when I read it.  It’s a painful, sad page regardless and I want to cry 😢.
Edit: Ok, I’ve read the translations for this page and it’s still not entirely clear what “cruel idea” Rei and Enji are talking about here.  The best I can take I can think from this is that Enji did think that having more kids would solve the problem; it would help Touya give up the idea of surpassing All Might.  The panels get darker and darker too, which shows how dark all this has become.
Next, Natsuo is born and he was so ADORABLE!!! 💙  Fuyumi looked so happy to have a little brother ❤️  But, Touya looks devastated; like he’s been replaced again.  My heart hurts so bad for this kid.  All he wanted was his father’s attention, but Enji seemed to have moved on from him and had more kids instead.  Almost like having more kids would solve the problem... ugh...
As time goes on, Enji gets angrier at All Might’s success (btw, seeing All Might drawn in his buff form again makes me nostalgic) and Rei becomes more fearful.  The summary states that Rei stopped “looking” at Enji at some point.  I think this is the point where Enji drive to create a perfect child completely took over his life and his family’s lives.  Even so, I think we need an explanation of when exactly Enji snapped and changed into the abusive man we all knew and how that exactly came to be.  We got hints in this chapter, but I think we need a full explanation.
AND SHOTO WAS BORN HE WAS BABY 💙🥺😭 Crying into the world he came into like most newborns do.  I want to love him and take care of him 💙💙💙 Look, Shoto’s my favorite character in the series and we need some good vibes in this depressing chapter, so please let me have this.
But, my god.  The faces on Enji, Rei, and Touya are haunting.  I honestly can’t really describe it.  It’s just so unsettling.  Enji looks like he’s glad he’s finally “created” the perfect child, Rei looks exhausted, and Touya is even more devastated than before.  The panel lines are all distorted too which drives the mood home.
Touya continues to train on his own to prove himself to his father.  He’s burning himself more and he looks like he’s loosing his mind.  I’m not exaggerating; Touya actually looks like he’s going crazy.  Enji is tying to convince Touya that they’re more to the world than being a hero like playing with his siblings and making friends at school.  But, Touya can’t because, as he says, “I’m your son”.  Despite Enji probably focusing primarily on getting ready to train Shoto at this point, he still cared enough about Touya to where he wanted him to have a life outside of heroism.  Though that could also be because, again, he’s turned his focus on Shoto instead (this family is a mess).  And Touya being so driven to have his father pay attention to him is heartbreaking.  No kid should have to go through this.
And then he activates his Quirk to attack baby Shoto.  Lil’ Fuyumi’s protecting Lil’ Natsuo and Rei is holding onto Lil’ Shoto 😭.  Rei wants to help cool him down with her Quirk, but Touya “fire” Enji lit can’t be put out.  Touya’s too far gone.  He even stops calling Enji “father”; he says “look at me, Endeavor” instead.  Everything about this makes me sad, man.  Touya’s love for his father turned into what he thought was abandonment, which turned into mad jealousy for his baby brother.  Though Enji did light Touya’s fire, it was Touya himself who ultimately drove himself insane.  Touya helped create Dabi, it wasn’t all Enji Todoroki’s doing.
And finally, the flashback ends with Rei stating that Enji isn’t the only who’s suffered, but he’s also not the only one who didn’t look at Touya.  This implies that Rei shares the blame for letting Touya turn into Dabi.  I do wonder what Rei didn’t do that helped Touya’s transformation.  I doubt she neglected him entirely, but maybe she wasn’t paying attention to him as much because of her other kids and her declining mental state. I can’t comment on this very much with the lack of details, but i do hope things get answered soon.
Edit: I’ve thought about this a bit more.  Rei was/is a good mother and she’s a badass in her own right.  She never meant to harm her kids.  But, based on that dark panel before about Enji thinking of a way to get Touya to give up the idea of being  a hero, Rei did agree to Enji’s plan in the end.  She decided to have more kids with him until they got the perfect child in Shoto.  Why did she agree, we don’t know.  That detail isn’t there just yet.  I bet we’ll get it in Pt. 2.  Again, Rei isn’t a bad person, but she did play a part in Touya’s downfall.  Which, of course, makes things all the more sad.
Lastly, it’s stated that Rei came from a prestigious and noble family called Himura.  It’s a small detail, but it’s shows that Shoto and his siblings basically came from royalty.  Ha, Shoto really is a prince 👑!  It would explain those damn good Todoroki genes 😳😍.  Oh, and the kanji for “Hi” in Himura means icicle, ice, hail, freeze, etc. so Horikoshi’s playing with names again.
Quick Edit: Turns out this part with Rei’s maiden name is actually at the VERY BEGINNING of the chapter LOL.  Either the image leaks got scrambled or the summary found this panel last.  Whoops...
Hoo boy, I think that’s it.  Really heavy chapter full of more layers and details about the Todoroki family that we didn’t get before.  This is honestly one of the best storylines in the series and I’m so glad to see it come back to the forefront again.  Horikoshi has handled this particular story so, so damn well I can’t help but be impressed.  I think, ultimately, the Todoroki family fell apart and became more and more tragic over time.  Amazingly, it wasn’t entirely Enji’s fault like we originally thought.  Yes, he was a big reason as to why everything happened the way it did.  His redemption does not excuse his years of abuse and neglect towards Shoto, Rei, and Touya especially.  But, Touya and maybe even Rei had a part in this.  I hope whatever Rei did or didn’t do isn’t so bad that we immediately put her into a bad light.  I hope it boils down to “she’s human”.  Though, Touya did ultimately drive himself to insanity.  He didn’t accept his father’s suggestion to stop training.  He only pushed himself further to the point of jealousy.  God, he tried to kill baby Shoto at one point.  We can dissect this family’s story for months and still find something new.  This chapter was called “Mischief of Fire - Part 1″ which means we’re definitely getting more.  I’m going to sit here and process all this in the meantime.  Anyone got any ice cream to go with my tears and pain from BNHA angst?
Hello! This is a LATE birthday present for my dear friend @sesukytes ^.^
Happy late bday my dood <3
ENJOY
With Vaggie and Angel out of her life and the hotel still empty, Charlie’s fears became realized. She failed again. Even with a successful redemption program, nobody was interested.
At that point she didn’t know what to do anymore. She didn’t know what she could do anymore.
________________________________
Alastor resided to biding his time after witnessing Angel ascend to Heaven. It was a great shock that the naive little princess seemed to have finally made a breakthrough, but it seemed that it didn’t matter. He waited around to see if the rabble would bite and come running for a “better life”, but not a single desperate soul came even after two months.
Having been bored sick of his empty investment, Alastor decided to make his own move. A month had passed after he heard that Vaggie had ascended and Charlie refused to even leave the hotel. She’d been silent and wasn’t answering his calls nor calling him back.
“A shame, really...” he muttered while stiffly rapping his fingers on his pristine mahogany desk, not caring whether his sharp claws broke through the polish or not. He knew things couldn’t continue as they were. He was generous enough to give her time to recoup and continue on but his patience had finally reached its expiration date.
________________________________
When he walked up to her bedroom door, he already knew exactly what he needed to do. And in her state, leaving her would push her further down the spiral of despair. If he played it right, her broken expression could make up for the waste of time that he spent waiting on the hotel; not that he had many high hopes for it in the first place.
‘To see the broken look on her face...’
Alastor knocked before entering, a bit too eager see the final dregs of hope leave his partner.
What he found was truly pitiful.
She hadn’t been crying, but seemed as if she’d cried herself dry. Instead, she just stared at him blankly, looking broken and lifeless; not at all like her peppy self. Her eye sockets seemed to hollow in, her hair disheveled and somehow she seemed impossibly thinner than ever. When he looked into her eyes he found that the spark was nonexistent, leaving a blank gaze as if all that was left was an empty husk of a being.
Any fun he could have breaking her now was completely drained.
She was pitiful and it took him much effort to find a reason to stick around any longer. Without her life or her smile, Charlie was just a broken doll he couldn’t play with let alone break any further.
As she still said nothing to him, Alastor looked to her nightstand. There, an assortment of litter and tissues laid. In the center of it all: a small framed photo of her and her family sat. She looked to be younger than the portrait in the lobby, but still old enough to be considered a teen.
It was an unremarkable photo in all regards. He’d seen far too many of these family portraits around the hotel and the palace when he visited Lucifer. It seemed odd how family oriented the Magnes were considering how broken the relationship between Charlie and her parents were.
But unlike the ones Alastor had seen before, Charlie looked different. His eyes lingered on the visible horns protruding from her skull, standing tall and proud and unabashedly her’s. In the few family portraits Alastor had seen, Charlie seemed to purposefully hide her horns away even while her mother’s were displayed proudly.
He’d seen her horns and teases of her form in photos, paintings and on live television before, but Charlie had never looked so proud to show off her demonic features than in the photo on her nightstand. She was never ashamed of her demonic form, but rarely had she ever used her features. From what Alastor could remember from his time with her, he realized that she never utilized her demonic form or any powers.
He wasn’t even sure she even had any powers. He reckoned that she had to considering that she was a product of Lucifer, the most powerful being in Hell.
Alastor’s eyes fell back to the skeletal being before him and mulled over a thought that popped into his mind.
He could fix her- improve her even. She was practically a blank slate now, could he really pass up the opportunity? They could discover what exactly she was capable of together. Imagining the possibilities with the princess of Hell was just too enticing to let go.
Granted it wasn’t what he originally intended nor was he one to pick up fixer uppers, but he couldn’t just let the daughter of Lucifer waste away. It wasn’t like he had another venture lined up anyway.
________________________________
He continued to visit her daily, bringing her homemade food, clean clothes, linens and anything else she could need to cheer her up. He would talk to her, try to liven her up and keep her up-to-date on the latest news. Though she initially answered with single worded answers, it was clear his efforts were working as their conversations got longer as her state improved
Little by little, she opened up to him more and more. And in a short amount of time, she seemed to be back to a semblance of normal. And although she physically looked better and spoke more, Charlie was still missing the soul and spark that she’d lost.
Though Alastor didn’t mind. It was just all a part of the process.
Now, after a few weeks of nurturing her, it was time to get the ball rolling.
“All I’m trying to tell you sweetheart, is that you have been holding yourself back. You have so much potential for so much more! Aren’t you the slightest bit curious about what you can do?” Alastor sat on the edge of her bed, facing Charlie who had her legs drawn up to her chest.
Charlie held her knees tighter to her chest and frowned. “Not really...”
“What a shame! It could prove useful for your endeavors. Now that you know redemption is possible, you’ll need to attract more souls to your hotel!”
“I don’t know Al...”
He sat on the edge of her bed and reached over to place a hand on her cheek, drawing her attention to his softened gaze. “Trust me, my dear. I haven’t led you astray before haven’t I? You’ve already done all you could. Allow me to help this time.”
As much as she didn’t like the idea, she knew he was right. Now that she knew redemption was possible, she could help people get to Heaven. But did she have the energy or power to do that when everyone still doubted her? Nobody took her seriously and she doubted anybody would believe what she did at that point. Hesitant, but without many other options, Charlie nodded. “Okay, but I’m not making a deal with you.”
Alastor chuckled, smiling a bit brighter in response to the bit of spunk returning to her. “Not a problem sweetheart. I wouldn’t have expected it any other way.”
Another week passing meant another week gaining Charlie’s wholehearted trust.
Alastor had to admit, it was enjoyable watching her grow back into the person she was before. She even smiled on the rare occasion. But as pleasant he’d found that her company was, he needed to get her going.
Having known her father, Alastor knew that Lucifer had the ability to subjugate and pacify any demon at will. Any demon under his will would fall into a trance-like state and obey all orders, even if it meant permanent death for that demon. All he needed to do now was see if Charlie had inherited this ability from her father.
He brought it up to her, presented as an idea to bring in patients.
As expected, she seemed hesitant. “That doesn’t seem right Al.”
“Don’t you want to help your people? How else are they going to find salvation if they aren’t convinced?”
She paused, seemingly convinced yet careful. “They won’t...”
Alastor nodded, standing from her bed. “Exactly! And the longer you wait for them to come crawling to you, the more that will perish by the next cleanse! I know that you want to help your people, don’t you sweetheart?” He turned to her and extended a hand. “Now why don’t we try? It’s about time you’ve left your cave and let the world see your dazzling smile, so let’s kill two birds with one stone?”
Charlie looked between him and his hand several times while she deliberated her decision. If she did nothing, would things get any better? Alastor was so willing to help her in her time of need- even more so than Vaggie ever had.
What was wrong with trying?
She took his hand, earning her a wide grin and a strong tug from the man. With a yelp, she flew off her bed and into his waiting arms. In an unexpected turn of events, Alastor wrapped his arms around her.
Warmth filled her. When was the last time she’d gotten a hug from anyone? Months ago from Vaggie probably.
“A solid choice my dear! Might I say that I’m impressed with your resolve!” He bent away to find tears rolling down her cheeks. Bothered by their existence, he wiped them away with his index finger. “Why the tears, Charlie?”
“I... I just want to thank you for being here Alastor. I-I don’t want to th-think about where I’d be without you here...”
Alastor chuckled and gently placed his hand on top of her head. She was his now, there was no doubt about that anymore.
“Think nothing about it. I didn’t think I would ever find myself caring about another’s well being.” He said partially truthful.
Once she composed herself, Charlie left the hotel for the first time in nearly three months while holding Alastor’s hand for support. She’d almost forgotten what her home had looked like. The blood-red hue of the sky, the faint smell of rotting flesh; it was something she didn’t know she missed.
Still holding his hand tightly, Alastor led her out to the streets to get down to business. He’d waited far too long for this moment and he was all too eager to get started. “I believe your ability is innate, meaning if you just wanted it enough, anyone could be bent to your will,” he looked about the busy streets but quickly perked up. “Why not try it on that one there?” He said, pointing ahead of them.
When Charlie looked, there was a scraggly three-armed man sitting on the sidewalk holding a cardboard sign that simply read: “help” in crude lettering. He was a hulking purple giant of a man, taking up most of the walkway on the street. Had he not been so massive, the passerbys would have probably scowled at him for being so invasive. The purple demon also appeared to have a permanent frown on his face that made him even less approachable.
“I believe the man needs help, he’s practically asking for it dear,”
Charlie grimaced, suddenly feeling an awful twist of wrongness in her gut.
Alastor quickly sensed her hesitation by her tighter grip on his hand. “Charlie darling, I know you can do it. You can help that man. If you can do it, he’ll never have to beg in the streets again! You wouldn’t deprive him of that chance now would you? You know he certainly wouldn’t survive the next cleanse being so exposed like this,”
Again, he was right. Alastor was always right, and Charlie knew that well.
But still, it just didn’t sit right.
Alastor bent toward her, getting close so that she could only focus on him. Charlie stared into his ruby-red eyes, confusion in her eyes. “I will be here with you all the way.”
She hesitated a bit longer, biting down on her lips and looking down to the ground.
‘Alastor’s always right.’ She reminded herself in her head.
“Okay.”
They approached and Alastor let go of Charlie’s hand to watch her with anticipation from behind her.
Charlie forced a friendly smile on her face and waved up to the seated man. “Uh hi!”
The beggar man didn’t seem amused. “You got money?”
“I have something even better!”
“Meth?”
“Nope! I-I uh, I have a hotel! That redeems souls so that they can go to Heaven!”
The purple demon huffed a laugh. “Oh I know this scam! You want me to go with you to this hotel of yours and you’ll take my organs and use me for meat,” he crossed his two arms and let his third hand give Charlie the bird. “Yeah no thanks, bitch. Get lost.”
Before she could walk away dejectedly, Alastor held her shoulders to keep her in place and whispered in her ear. “Demand it. It will only work if you demand him with confidence. Try it again.”
She took a deep breath. ‘He’s always right.’ She subconsciously reminded herself once more.
“Hey didn’t I say get lost? The fuck you still-“
“You will come with me and stay at the hotel. You will work toward redemption to Heaven and stay there.” She stated firmly and devoid of emotion.
The man closed his mouth, removing the scowl on his face. Not even a moment later, he stood and looked to Charlie expectantly. “Sure thing.” He said with barely any emotion behind his own answer.
Charlie’s eyes widened and she gasped, feeling her heart race. Quickly she turned to Alastor and shot him an unsure look. “Al... I... I think I did it...”
Alastor chuckled and approached, studying the man for a moment. When Alastor leaned in close to the dirtier demon’s face, the other man did not react with any hostility, just with an innocently confused look on his face. Satisfied with the results, he turned back to Charlie and nodded “Yes you did, dear. Now, let’s check him in, hm?”
________________________________
Everything ran smoothly from the first patient in the hotel. Charlie began subjugating the homeless population quickly to beat the cleanse deadline. Every day she got into a normal routine that made bounds in her development. She quickly became much more confident, and most importantly: more reliant on Alastor and his opinions.
Alastor stood beside her wherever she went like he was a part of her being. Though he could be described as her shadow, Charlie seemed to be slowly melting into his.
She began doing everything he suggested. From subjugating whoever he pointed out, to smiling almost all the time, she was improving to his standards rapidly and eagerly.
He was her new constant in life, her lifeline and her only friend.
________________________________
With only days remaining until the next cleanse, the streets of Pentagram City were cleared of a large portion of its homeless population. She’d redeemed such a large amount of people that could have been lost to the cleanse and she was proud of it.
“Darling, the angels are coming this way.”
Charlie gasped, sprinting up to the window next to Alastor. What she found was a team of four angels making their way toward the hotel with deadly purpose. “What? Why?”
“They probably know where a large mass of demons are.” Alastor said calmly with a shrug.
It was time to awaken another power within her. He didn’t have a hand in this arrangement, but he wasn’t complaining. This was the perfect motivation to get Charlie going and he was giddy to figure out what was next.
Watching the figures get closer and closer, Charlie’s heart began to race with frustration and panic. “They can’t do that! I’m helping people!”
“They don’t seen to care.”
She laced her fingers in her hair, quickly losing her cool. “What do we do? We can’t relocate everyone! There’s too many of them!”
“I suppose we’ll have to fight.”
Charlie whipped her head around and stared her companion down in disbelief. “Al, that goes against what I’m trying to do here!”
“Then everyone perishes.”
‘He’s right, Alastor is always right.’
“...Okay. Let’s go then.”
________________________________
“Kill it.”
“W-what?”
“Kill it, or else it will keep coming.”
“B-but...”
Alastor bent, still looming over her and the writhing angel she’d caught in her grasp. He took her chin to look him in the eye. “You must, or else everyone will be in danger.”
Charlie’s head began to spin, her heart racing and the adrenaline rushed through her. ‘Everyone will die. All my hard work...’ She needed to do it. She needed to for her people’s sake.
Alastor let her go, allowing her to decide. If she truly put her full trust in him, he knew she’d do it. It was only a matter of time.
But he didn’t have to wait too long.
Charlie’s grip on the angel’s throat tightened, earning a gurgle from the struggling being. It couldn’t muster the strength to thrash nor could it dig its fingers in to try to pry the hand around its throat off.
She watched it struggle- watched the life slowly leave it. It was suffering. It was fighting so hard to live. It was a sad sight, yet Charlie’s pity for it quickly left as Alastor whispered in her ear. “That’s it, darling. Remember, they hold no remorse slaughtering your people. They even smile as they do so. So why don’t you smile as you return the favor?” He paused before chuckling.
He craned his head around to look at her face to find a smile forming on her face. “There you are. And what a lovely smile, Charlie. Truly a vision.”
Smile? Was she really smiling? How could she smile as she was killing something? Why did it feel so good?
The sudden squelch as well as the splattering of warm blood on Charlie’s face instantly removed her grin. The angel stopped squirming, but slid downward from her bloodied hand. Without a head atop its shoulders, there was nothing left for Charlie to grip. With two audible thuds, she watched as the body of the angel slumped over with the head rolling a bit away from its body.
‘Incredible strength, but I’m not surprised.’ Alastor thought, impressed by her feat. It took a great amount of strength to decapitate a being by just squeezing its neck.
He placed his hands on either side of her shoulders from behind to assure her. “No matter how many you kill, it’s not your patient’s sin. You cannot go to Heaven anyway dear so you’d might as well take the burden and protect them, right?”
She looked down at the angel’s headless body on the ground. “To protect them?”
He turned her slightly and stood in front of her. He gently placed a hand on her head, keeping her grounded. “Yes. I’m proud of you, Charlie.” It wasn’t a lie, he felt immense pride in the progress she’d made.
‘Proud of me?’ She questioned mentally. She pried her eyes off of the sin she’d just committed to whip her gaze to Alastor. “Alastor...” She whispered, tears beginning to form in the corners of her eyes.
“Yes dear?”
She didn’t say anything and instead jumped to wrap her arms around him, catching him off-guard.
He felt her trembling followed by an unmistakable moistness touching his bare chest. “My dear, don’t cry.”
His eyes narrowed as he wrapped his arms around her tightly. “I’m here. I won’t leave you.”
‘And all you need is me.’
A Very Commonwealth Christmas: Year Two
“Are we seriously doin’ this again?” Gage griped from his place beside the window. “It sucked last year.”
Ada shook her head. “Actually, by my calculations, the endeavor was a great success. Sole’s enthusiasm and overall happiness was far above predicted values. As such, it is only logical to repeat the exercise.”
Cait (who still refused to even look in Gage’s direction) huffed. “So long as we do somethin’ fun this year.”
Preston smiled gently, showing his infinite patience once again. “Of course. I wouldn’t ask you to do the same thing twice, so we’re switching things up a little. Is everyone familiar with the concept of Secret Santa?”
A mixed bag of responses came back.
“Well, it’s simple. I’ve written down everyone’s name on a piece of paper and put them in this hat.” He tipped the hat to show them the neatly folded squares of paper. “Each of us will draw a name, and you’ll get a gift for whoever you draw. Sole was worried that we didn’t exchange gifts ourselves last year, so this year we’re going to make that happen.”
“And what if we don’t like whoever we get?” X6 asked, not looking directly at Deacon, but the subtext was clear.
“You’ll just have to pretend. Remember, for the next few weeks, we’re all good friends as far as sole is concerned. We all get along.”
To Preston’s credit, he did manage to not glare at Gage, X6, or any of the others that were deemed “troublemakers,” but they got the message. He’d made plenty of threats last year if people didn’t get along, threats that were not empty and, undoubtedly, very much still on the table.
“But what about sole?” Piper asked. “Is their name in there?”
Preston shook his head. “They’re not playing. According to them, the effort of us playing is enough.”
Ada took the hat from Preston’ hands. “We will go in alphabetical order to draw names. Cait, you will draw first.”
Cait was at least kind enough to wipe her hands off, freeing them of the looser flakes of dried blood, before snatching out a name. It seemed that the reading lessons between her and Piper had been going well, because she didn’t ask what it said. That, or she was too proud to admit it.
Slowly, they passed the hat around. Some people were better at concealing their reactions than others; Deacon might as well have been wearing a mask for the emotion he showed, but Curie didn’t even try to hide her distaste for whoever she’d drawn.
“Alright, people.” Preston clapped his hands. “Because of the game, I’ve called in some extra help from the settlers to get the other preparations done. You should have plenty of time to get your presents. You’ve got a week.”
Ada
It was a pleasant surprise to have drawn MacCready, in her opinion. Though he wasn’t someone she’d spent much time around, he was a fairly easy man to understand. Plus, it was unlikely he’d be expecting much from her. After all, he would put more effort into his own family celebration than this one, and wouldn’t expect her to do anything but the same.
Still, a part of her wasn’t content with just getting something easy and moving on. That wasn’t the spirit of the game, now was it? But she couldn’t well talk to MacCready directly, so she hunted down the closest person to him.
“What would I want?” sole asked, wiping their hands off on a dirty rag. “Ada, you know that I’m not playing.”
“Of course. But you know all of us the best, do you not? And you have quite a lot in common with my partner.”
“Well, alright.” They leaned back against the workbench to think. “I mean, anything at all is enough to make me happy. A new coffee mug would be nice, though. I’ve been looking for one that’s shatterproof so I can just toss it in my bag on the road and not have to worry about it getting chipped or anything.”
“That is a helpful insight.” Already, her mind was working, thinking about things that could make life on the road easier. “Thank you.”
“Sure, anytime.” They turned back to the workbench. “Good luck.”
Cait
The evening found Cait curled up next the fire, beer in hand, bitching with Hancock about the whole thing.
“How am I supposed to know what Deacon wants?” she said, glaring at the bottle in her hand as if it was to blame. “I don’t know shite about him.”
“No one does. That’s his whole gimmick.”
“Makes him a shitty person to find a gift for, then, doesn’t it?”
“Just get him a box of ammunition or something. It’s a good, generic gift.”
She glared at him. “Do you even know if he uses a gun?”
“Well, now that you mention it, no. But there’s gotta be somethin’ like that that’ll work. Rad-X, or RadAway, or RadSomethingElse that he needs.”
With a sigh, she took another drink. “You reckon sole’ll mind?”
“They’ve gotta know how he is, right?”
She shook her head. “Who did you get, though?”
He crinkled what was left of his nose. “Guess.”
“Someone you don’t want, by the looks of it.”
“I’ve got the ol’ tin can himself.”
She snickered into her drink. “Bad luck.”
He let out a long sigh. “Anythin’ for sole, right? I’ll dig up a gift for crew cut, you find somethin’ for shitty James Bond, they’ll be happy and we’ll move on.”
“Yeah, sure. Anythin’ for sole.”
Codsworth
Of all the people that could’ve drawn Hancock, it had to be him.
Most people, of course, would take the easy way out. A box of chems would be more than enough to make him happy, and would be easy to procure in the Commonwealth. But it just didn’t sit right with him. It just wasn’t his style, so he needed a new idea.
“And you’re sure you don’t want to just get some drugs?” Farenheit asked.
“Positive.”
“Shit.” She blew out a long trail of smoke. “That makes things harder. Do you mind gettin’ your hands dirty?”
“I’ve been known to get into the occasional scrap.”
She nodded. “A while back, John lost his lighter to some punk, a raider or somethin’. He said it wasn’t a deal, never went and got it, but if you could get it back, I bet he’d like that.”
“And where is this hooligan now?”
“Last I heard, he was hiding out in Dunwich Borers.”
Not the safest place, but he could probably talk sole into going with him. After all, if they heard raiders had moved back in, they’d want to take care of business.
It was better than any plan he had, at least.
Curie
She wouldn’t have called herself a mean person usually. She liked to think of herself as someone who was generally kind and understanding, someone who was forgiving above all, someone who wouldn’t judge others based on rumor alone.
Porter Gage was her one (and only) exception. Which made her current situation awkward, to say the least.
Worse was that there wasn’t anyone to ask, was there? Except for sole, no one knew much about Gage, and those she was closest to happened to hate his guts on principle.
But for the next few weeks, that wasn’t allowed. She could harbor no ill will toward Gage, and instead had to consider him as just another friend of sole’s. Of course, usually that meant she would go straight to sole, but they were off-limits for direct questioning. They didn’t want to know who had drawn whom, which left her with only her own critical thinking to figure this one out.
While her critical thinking had not failed her, it seemed her own ability might.
“Sacre bleu,” she swore under her breath, staring down at probably half a dozen mirelurks. This area was supposed to be peaceful, and she’d hoped to track down some pre-war bug spray. It was no secret that he was no fan of insects, and as much as she hated to agree, these mirelurks were really starting to get on her nerves. Damn giant water bugs.
At least she had found the spray, and she was safe hiding up here in the rafters for the moment. How she was getting down was uncertain, and how she was going to dodge the mirelurks without losing a leg was also up in the air, but she’d gotten what she came for.
Danse
At least he had luck on his side. Of all the people to get a gift for, Cait had to be the easiest for him. She may not have liked him, necessarily, but he understood her better than he understood most of the others. The only better pull would have been Preston, but he wasn’t about to complain.
“I’m glad,” Preston said over breakfast. “Maybe it will help her warm up to you a little.”
“I wouldn’t be certain. I understand her hesitance; it’s a wonder to have been so widely accepted by your Minutemen.”
“Our Minutemen, now.” Gently, Preston tapped his shoulder with a fist. “But speaking of the game, I don’t suppose you’ve spent much time around Ada?”
Danse turned to him, surprised. “I would have thought you were more than equipped to be paired with Ada. After all, she has been the other primary organizer for the holidays around Sanctuary.”
“Yeah, but that’s all business.” Preston sighed. “I don’t think I know much about her as a person.”
“She seems to have affinity for the same kinds of junk that sole does. Perhaps something related to that?”
“Good idea.” He glanced up from the fire and smiled. “Thanks, Danse. I bet you’ll get a great gift for Cait.”
“I hope so. You’ll undoubtedly make an excellent selection for Ada as well.”
Deacon
“You’ve known sole a long time, huh?”
“But of course!” Codsworth says, dusting off the top of the fridge. “I have known sir/mum since even before the war. Before young Shaun was born, even!”
“And you’ve just stayed here this whole time?”
“Certainly. A Mr. Handy never abandons his post!”
“Must be hard.”
“It’s certainly not the easiest work, but I am happy to do it for sir/mum. It was easier before the war, when we had such modern amenities as vacuums and indoor plumbing, but I will endure for their sake.”
“That kind of loyalty’s hard to come by,” Deacon said, leaning back. “Sole’s lucky.”
Codsworth made a noise akin to a scoff. “They’d be luckier if they ever remembered to bring a new feather duster as I asked. I’ve been waiting months now.”
He shrugged. “They’ve got a lot on their mind. Little things lost in the mix. Happens to the best of us.”
It’s the nature of Mr. Handy’s to be talkative, which only gets worse when left alone for a couple hundred years. Still, at least it’s fun to stretch those interrogation muscles again. It’s been a while.
Gage
He knew this was rigged. It has to be. His luck wasn’t bad enough that, of all people, he drew Preston fucking Garvey out of that hat. Even worse, no one would trade with him; they said that it’s not the nature of the game. It was fuckin’ stupid.
So he was stuck with the one guy that hated his guts more than anything. Fuckin’ great. Worst part was, he would have to actually make an effort, because sole had been so thrilled he’d played nice last year, and the last thing he wanted was to get on their bad side. The Overboss’s anger was a dangerous thing, after all.
He hadn’t had much of a choice but to ask sole, despite their insistence on not knowing the pairs. An exception had to be made. After all, he wasn’t sure who else to go to, and they knew Garvey well enough to put him on the right track. Which left him here, digging around the catacombs in the Castle.
“Back in the day, there was a sword that the leader of the Minutement carried around,” sole had said. “Ronnie told me about it. I bet if you tracked it down and polished it up, he’d like that.”
So here he was, choking on dust, searching for some rusted-out piece of junk that probably didn’t actually exist.
“You’re doin’ this for sole,” he muttered, rummaging through a shelf that seemed to only have bags of cement.
Anything to dodge the Overboss’s wrath, even playing nice with fucking Garvey.
Hancock
The worst part was that he knew exactly where to start. He didn’t like it, oh no, in fact he hated it beyond belief. But he prided himself on giving good gifts, tin can or no, and this was a real easy one, if he could just make it work.
At least it was easy to convince sole. They’d gone out for a little bartering, he’d volunteered to come along, and from there it was easy enough to suggest they swing by the Prydwen to barter with Teagan and get paid for those technical documents. Both very time-consuming items, and both things that tended to draw attention once sole had their nice clothes on for bartering.
The nice thing about the Prydwen was that sole had keys to everything. All he had to do was “borrow” their key ring, find the right key, and he could stroll into Maxson’s living quarters like he owned the place.
His prize was easy to find. It seemed ol’ Arthur hadn’t moved on as well as he pretended; Danse’s holotags were sitting right on top of his desk, beside his terminal. They clinked as he picked them up. Sole had mentioned they’d had to turn them in to Maxson when Danse got exiled, and he’d noticed the former Paladin often reaching for a chain around his neck to find only empty air. Which made this gift the best anyone would be giving, hands down.
“Hey, there,” he muttered, turning them over to check the name. “We better get out of here before somebody sees us, huh?”
The nice thing about sole was that they were far too engrossed in bartering to even notice he’d been gone.
MacCready
What were you supposed to get a man that already had everything he needed? It wasn’t like coursers were supposed to want things anyway. Heck, did he even have use for anything except fusion cells?
Sole’s time being a precious commodity, it seemed, left him with three options (three fellow synths, if he was honest). One: Curie, the sweet scientist who had been a synth for about five minutes and had as little in common with X6 as anyone could, save for being a synth. Two: Nick, who didn’t like X6 and probably never would. Both bad choices which, tragically, left him with lucky number three.
Admittedly, since last years mutfruit disaster, he and Danse had upgraded from “I don’t like you, you don’t like me, and that’s fine by us” to “your presence around me isn’t the literal worst” which was a marked improvement. Still, he made the effort to catch Danse while he was working on his power armor, which meant he was probably in a half-decent mood and less likely to try to kill him.
“You sought me out for advice because I’m a synth?” Danse’s tone was not pleased. Surprise, surprise.
“Well, it’s not like you don’t have other stuff in common. You had your whole heart in an organization, too, and it gave you everything you needed.”
“When I was a Paladin, you mean.”
“Yeah. What would you have wanted?”
Danse sighed and shook his head. “As much as it pains me to admit, both Curie and I have observed that Generation Three synths seem to have a terrible fondness for Fancy Lads Snack Cakes. They were forbidden on the Prydwen due to their lack of nutritional content, and I would suppose the Institute is no different. If there is anything that X6-88 wants, that’s my best guess.”
“Snack cakes, huh? That’s... surprisingly easy.” He nodded. “I bet I could get my hands on a bunch in Diamond City, I bet. Thanks, Danse.”
“Of course. Happy to help.”
Nick
It seemed to be his lucky day, because his partner was someone he knew well, and had already planned on getting a gift for: none other than Diamond City’s favorite reporter. He’d gotten Piper a gift probably every year, and already knew exactly what he wanted and where to find it. Lucky him.
“Do you think I should do rose this year?” he asked Ellie, crouched to peer into the bottom drawer of a filing cabinet. He’d stowed away at least twenty years of perfume in there, specifically for Piper.
“You went floral last year,” she said. “Do you want to repeat yourself?”
“That was more lilac than rose,” he grumbled, but pushed the perfume in hand to the back.
“I don’t think we’ve tried anything citrus-y yet.” She hopped off the desk where she was sitting to look, too. “There’s a nice one somewhere in there. What’s it called? Fresh something?”
“Fresh Citron de Vigne.” He pulled the bottle out of the back. “This one was pretty popular before the war.”
“It might be nice to switch things up for her so she doesn’t smell like a florist all the time.”
He nodded. “All that’s left is to wrap it.”
“I’ll take care of that.” She plucked the bottle from his hands. “All you’re going to do is make yourself frustrated when you rip the paper.”
He glared down at his metal fingers, which tended to wreak havoc on anything delicate, especially wrapping paper. “Thanks, Ellie.”
“You can thank me by giving her my gift while you’re up there.”
Piper
The only real question was black or brown, but that was rapidly turning into one hell of a dilemma.
“He’ll like either of them,” Nat said from the couch. “That’s why you got them.”
“I know. I just don’t remember if I gave him a black tie last year.”
She couldn’t see Nat roll her eyes, but she could feel it. “Just ask Ellie. She’ll tell you.”
“Maybe I should give him the blue one to be on the safe side.”
“The one with the little cats on it?”
“Ugh, I forgot about the cats.” She tossed both ties onto her desk with a heavy sigh. “Why did I even get that one?”
“Hey, you don’t know that he won’t like it until you try.”
She shot her sister a scathing glare. “I’m not going to embarrass him in front of everyone with the blue kitty tie. If it was just us, maybe, but now it’s a whole event and I don’t want to make him uncomfortable. Which means it’s black or brown.”
Nat was unfazed by her sister’s glare. “Well, which one do you like better?”
“The black one.”
“So give him that one.”
“But I might have given him a black one last year.”
"So give him the brown one.”
“But I like the black one better.”
Nat sighed dramatically. “He’s not gonna care, Piper. It’s Nick and a tie. He’s gonna like it no matter what.”
“I know, but I don’t want him to think I can only get one color of tie.”
“You’re overthinking this. Here, give me both ties.”
Reluctantly, she handed them over and watched them disappear behind Nat’s back.
“Okay, right hand or left hand?”
“Right.”
“Brown it is.” Nat handed over the tie. “There, problem solved.”
She took the tie back and looked at it a moment.
“You know what, I think I’ll do the black one.”
Preston
Sewing was a nice, therapeutic exercise. After a long day of working on putting up lights and assembling trees and assigning cooking duties, it was nice to be able to come home and return to a project. Sole had told him about jigsaw puzzles once, and he figured this was probably a lot the same.
He’d designed this backpack specifically for Ada, less as an independent bag and more as something that could function in conjunction with the bags she already carried. It had been a uniquely challenging idea, and he’d spent quite a few nights on it before finalizing his pattern and beginning to actually cut into some leather.
Overall, it was coming along nicely. He figured it would be done well in time for the celebration. He hoped everyone else was progressing on schedule; if one of them showed up without a gift, well, he didn’t know what he would do. The idea that one of them would disappoint sole had crossed his mind more than once, and he swore to himself that if anyone failed to perform this year, they’d suffer the consequences. He just wasn’t sure what those consequences actually were.
He shook his head. No use in worrying about it before it happened. The best he would probably get would be a stern talking-to anyway, and maybe the chance to punch somebody in the face. Sole wouldn’t want him hurting any of their friends on their behalf.
Besides, depending on whoever their partner was that this hypothetical asshole had wronged, he might not have to do anything. He couldn’t see Cait letting it slide, that was for sure, and Danse believed so heavily in being a person of honor that he wouldn’t tolerate it either, no matter who had gotten screwed over.
In the end, he probably wouldn’t have to do anything, and that put a smile on his face.
X6
“You want what?”
He tried to not let his face betray him as he stared down Dr. Holden in the corner of the Bioscience division.
“A full lab kit for above-ground experimentation. Orders from the future director.”
It wasn’t exactly a lie; sole wanted him to participate in this silly game, which meant they had essentially “ordered” him to get a gift. What could a scientist want more than a full, top-of-the-line lab kit from the Institute?
“But not Father.”
He peered down at the doctor. “If you are refusing, Dr. Holden, I will report back to sole. I’m certain they will be happy to come themselves, or send word along to Father of your refusal.”
Dr. Holden huffed, and he saw the tiniest spark of fear in his eyes. “I didn’t refuse. I just wish they’d go through proper channels when requesting equipment, that’s all.” He scratched a few words on a piece of paper and handed it over. “There. That’ll get you everything you need.”
He said nothing, just took the paper coldly. Not for the first time, he appreciated that sole had authorized him to act on their behalf. For one, it showed trust, and it also made getting around much, much easier. All he had to do was mention their name, which carried the full force of the director’s office, and everyone was willing to acquiesce.
All he had to do now was make sure nothing broke. Glass was a difficult thing to transport, after all. He could relay straight back to Sanctuary, but Curie might see him, and the point was that the gift was a secret, hence the name “Secret Santa.” He could relay to the nearby Red Rocket, but that left him further to go, and more at risk of things breaking.
Decisions, decisions.
The Exchange
Shockingly, everyone had managed to get their gifts wrapped. Granted, some were better than others; Deacon still dominated with his perfect, sharp creases and hand-folded bow, where X6 might as well have just put his gift in a trash bag, but in the end it was the thought that counted.
Everyone had gathered in the newly established meeting hall of Sanctuary Hills, where sole had spent the last few days placing enough chairs and tables for everyone to be comfortable, as well as a few rugs to make the place feel cozy. They’d even made a fireplace appear out of nowhere, no easy feat, and with the settlers’ decorations it really did feel festive. Sole themself was seated by the fire, curled up with Dogmeat at their feet, and their eyes sparkled to see the gifts their friends had brought.
“Well, go on.” They waved their hands encouragingly. “Let me see what you did. I might be more excited than all of you are. Who’s going first?”
“It will be alphabetical,” Ada said, standing. “I will go first.”
She made her way to MacCready, who looked honestly surprised to see a gift appear in his lap.
“Ah, thanks. I’ll just, uh, open this.”
He tore into the paper and opened up the generic cardboard box, furrowed his eyebrows, and pulled out a series of small plastic jars.
“I have noticed you have an affinity for cooking,” she said. “I thought you might appreciate some new spices to try while on the road. It will be very difficult for you to break or spill them while traveling, as they are all in childproof containers.”
“That’s... surprisingly thoughtful.” He shook a container of dried parsley as if trying to figure out what it was. “Thanks.”
“Okay, my turn.” Cait clapped her hands and stood up. “Thanks for not changing your look again, Deacon. I’ll at least be able to find you.”
She dropped the box in his hands unceremoniously. “Don’t complain if it’s not somethin’ you want. You’re not the easiest guy to get a gift for.”
“Well, I appreciate the effort at least,” he said, peeling away the practically mangled wrapping. “If you ever want some lessons on wrapping paper, though, I’m happy to- oh.”
He pulled out a leather jacket, turning it around so that sole could see Cait had made the effort to track down the Atom Cats. A smile quirked his lips.
“Actually been looking at one of these for a while.” He gave Cait a real smile, this time. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it,” she huffed, clearly embarrassed. “I mean it.”
“Which brings us to me! Here you are, Mr. Hancock. One present, as promised.”
“It’s light,” Hancock commented wrily, shaking the box. “You didn’t get cheap on me, didja?”
“But of course not. I simply went for something more personal.”
“Personal?” He raised what was left of an eyebrow as he unceremoniously tore through the wrapping paper. “How did you manage that little trick?”
Codsworth waved an arm dismissively. “I have my ways.”
“Well, shit, I guess you do.”
He pulled the lighter out twirled it in his fingers and gave it an experimental light. It flicked on with ease.
“I guess you refilled it too, huh? That’s really somethin’.”
“So that’s why you drug me out to Dunwich Borers,” sole said, laughing. “I knew something was up.”
“Certainly not,” Codsworth replied, but his tone betrayed that if he could have laughed, he would have.
“Ah, I suppose that means it is my turn, non?” Carefully, Curie picked her way over to Gage. “Happy holidays, Monsieur.”
“Thanks, I guess.” He took it uncertainly. “This isn’t a bomb or anything, is it?”
“Of course not!” She sounded genuinely offended. “It is a gift, and not one that is easy to procure.”
“Just bein’ careful.” He still shook out the can more carefully than was probably necessary.
“Bug spray,” she explained. “It should repel the overly large insects you so dislike.”
Gage actually looked surprised. “I.. shit. Thanks.” He turned his head to the wall, obviously embarrassed. “Whoever’s next...”
“That would be me.” Shockingly, Danse had actually ditched his power armor for the day, at sole’s request. “Here you are, Cait. I hope it proves useful to you.”
She seemed hesitant, but accepted wordlessly, peering into the box. There was silence for a long moment, then she said, “I thought you only knew how to mod energy weapons.”
“I made an exception. That should provide you with exceptional damage and a better rate of fire for your shotgun.”
Cait could only shake her head, say, “Thanks,” and wave for the next person to go.
Deacon took his cue and handed his gift off to Codsworth. “There you go, buddy. Happy holiday.”
“Mr. Deacon.” Codsworth sounded all too pleased. “I should have known.”
Deacon shrugged. “Don’t beat yourself up. At least you know you got what you wanted.”
“How thoughtful!” Codsworth turned to sole. “You needn’t search for a new feather duster any longer sir/mum.”
They nodded, impressed. “I had forgotten I was supposed to be looking for one. Good work, Deeks.”
“Hey, you’ve got a lot on your plate boss.” He shot them a quick set of finger guns. “I’m just helping out with the little stuff.”
There was silence for a long moment before sole said, “Gage, I think it’s you.”
“What, already? Alright.”
He stood up, and when he paused in front of Preston, the room froze. No one even dared to breathe as he handed off the box, waiting for the other shoe to drop. After all, Gage was the only person Preston seemed actively willing to shoot at any time. This could only mean a fight.
“Happy holidays, Garvey.” He almost sounded genuine.
Preston accepted, understandably cautiously. “Thanks, Gage. Happy holidays.”
But when the paper was off, and the box was opened, Preston’s hesitation vanished into thin air.
“How the hell did you even find this?” he breathed, slowly pulling the sword from its sheath. It glinted in the firelight.
“Ah, it was no big deal.” Gage’s face was smug, and he leaned back in his chair with confidence. “You guys shouldn’t leave important relics just sitting around.”
And to everyone’s surprise, especially Gage’s, Preston rose from his chair to offer Gage a handshake.
“Thanks,” he said. “For real.”
For a second time, Gage was stunned into silence before taking Preston’s hand and breathing, “Don’t mention it. That’s the game, right?”
Sole shot Gage a discreet thumbs-up as Preston settled back into his seat, and the poor guy could only nod.
“Well, ain’t that touching?” Hancock leaned over to pass off the small box to Danse, who had somehow ended up seated directly across the circle from him. “There ya go, crew cut. Don’t get your hopes up.”
Danse nodded. “I won’t.”
Sole shot Hancock a warning look as Danse carefully unwrapped it, and he winked in reply, as if to say, “Trust me.”
Danse quite literally choked.
As he pulled the chain out, the box fell from his hands, leaving the holotags in the open air. Sole gasped from their place by the fire, realizing exactly what Danse was holding, and Hancock let his smile widen.
“These should be on board the Prydwen,” he breathed, turning them over in his hands. “They should have been destroyed.” Teary eyes turned toward the mayor of Goodneighbor. “How did you...”
Hancock leaned closer to Danse, clearly enjoying his moment. “Well, it didn’t make much sense that they were on Maxson’s desk if they’ve got your name on ‘em. After all, they’re yours. What does he need them for?”
Danse leaned forward, too, pulling Hancock into a bone-crushing hug. “You could have died. If you had been caught...”
“But I wasn’t.” John Hancock truly looked like that cat who’d eaten the canary. “Happy holidays, Danse.”
“Thank you, John,” Danse replied, and his tone was sincere, without the hint of malice that usually accompanied any of his interactions with Hancock. “Happy holidays.”
Preston patted Danse’s shoulder as he let go, but still managed to shoot an impressed look across the circle at Hancock. Hancock made a peace sign at him, still grinning.
“Well, shoot,” MacCready said. “That makes me next, but I feel kinda stupid about my gift, now.”
He opted to deposit the clearly heavy box at X6′s feet instead of in his lap. It was by far the largest gift, and shockingly neat in its wrapping. He dusted his hands, said, “It’s heavy,” and returned to his seat.
“I admit that I have no clue what this is,” X6 said, prodding the box gently. “It looks too large to be fusion cells, which is what I thought it would be.”
MacCready smiled, just a little. “Maybe it’s a lot of fusion cells. Why don’t you find out?”
X6 carefully unwrapped the gift, and only just managed to open the box before his head shot up.
“Is this whole box full of them?”
“You betcha.”
“Holy shit,” he breathed. “I didn’t even know that was possible.”
Sole protested from the corner, “I can’t see what it is.”
“It’s snack cakes.” X6 held up a box indicatively. “They’re difficult for me to acquire, due to the Institute’s strict supervision of my diet, but a vice among gen three synths. I’ve never seen so many in one place.”
MacCready, to his credit, managed not to look too smug at the courser’s apparent wonder.
Nick stood. “Here you go, Piper. I suppose you know what it is. Here’s Ellie’s, while we’re at it, but you can open it later.”
She laughed and held out a hand to stop him from returning to his seat. He looked at her, bemused
“What’s so funny?”
She shook her head and reached under her chair to hand off her gift to him. “Some luck, huh? Happy holidays, Nick.”
He chuckled and shook his head. “Some luck, indeed. Happy holidays, Piper.”
They opened at the same time, Piper saying, “Oh, this is a new one,” at the same time Nick said, “Well, how classy.”
They held their gifts up in sync for sole to see, though Piper was still reading the label of her perfume.
“Citrus, huh? This’ll be nice for a change of pace. I haven’t had anything citrus-y before.”
“It’s been a while since I got a new black tie,” Nick replied, examining it. “I like the pattern. It’s subtle.”
“I can’t believe you both drew each other,” sole cut in, though they didn’t seem disappointed. “I bet you’d already planned to do gifts anyway.”
They nodded in unison.
“This does make things a little easier, though,” Piper said. “We didn’t have to set our own date this way.”
Sole shook their head. “Preston, we’re to you.”
“Sure. Here you go, Ada.”
“Thank you,” she said. “I have tried to predict what this would be, but had some difficulty, especially in the situation where you were the gift giver. I am curious, to say the least.”
“Well, I hope you like it.”
She cracked it open, albeit with some difficulty, before declaring. “This was not among the options I predicted.” She drew it from the box to examine it better. “How thoughtful. It even appears to be designed to work in tandem with my current storage.”
“That’s the idea. I know it’s not much, but I hope you can at least get some use from it.”
“To the contrary. You designed this yourself, and took the time to create it. I can see you’ve even stitched my initials along the straps, as well as the initials of those formerly in my caravan. The details and the effort make it quite touching.”
Preston knew Ada well enough to know that he had gotten the best possible response, emotion-wise, and turned to X6 with everyone else.
“Well, you all already know who this is for.” He carefully passed the box over to Curie, who beamed.
“Merci.”
He nodded, not entirely coldly, and she began to remove the paper with a surgeon’s precision, letting out a gasp when she’d opened the box.
“Oh, Monsieur! This is- I have not seen such fine materials since before the war. Where did you find them?”
“They’re top quality, designed for Institute scientists.” A hint of pride lingered in his voice. “I knew you would like them.”
“Yes, I like them very much! I cannot wait to work with new glassware again, it has been so long.”
Sole sighed contentedly from their chair, drawing their attention. “I’m so proud of you guys. I knew it was a risk asking you to do this, but I’m glad you could put aside your differences, at least for a while. Honestly, this has gone better than I could have ever imagined.”
“Anything for you, General,” Preston replied. “You’ve been more than helpful in putting us on the right track.”
They shook their head. “I was happy to do it. It showed me you were all really trying, when I thought we’d be seeing nothing but boxes of ammo. You all went above and beyond, and for that, I salute you.”
They picked up their glass and raised it to the room, smile still lingering on their face. “To all of you, for taking the time and energy, both physical and emotional, to indulge me. I’m beyond proud to call you my friends, and more proud to call you my family.”
“Happy holidays, everyone.”
Fighting for Justice
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Justice will be given
Pairing: Wonwoo x fem!reader
Genre: angst :)
Warnings: school violence and violence in general
Word Count: 3K words
Getting to school early was only one of the things that made students on campus call Wonwoo a "teacher's pet". That was in addition to his perfect grades, perfect attendance, and perfect school record. He was the top scorer in all exams and never had a graduation ceremony where he didn't walk up the stage with some kind of medal or award. Not to mention the fact that his family sponsored most of the university's endeavors and projects. In the eyes of a teacher, he really was perfect.
If he wasn't in class, people would often find him sitting in the library, quietly studying, or typing away on his laptop. They speculated that it was the side effect of being a teacher's pet. Some pitied him for not being able to have any fun but most people just found his presence annoying. There was no point in studying and it looked like he was just doing it for show. His parents were already paying the professors to give him a high grade. Or so they believed.
Wonwoo could hear their whispers but choose to ignore them. After all, he understood where they were coming from. He felt his phone buzz and started packing his things after reading the message.
As he moved away from the table he was sitting at, Wonwoo's eyes fell on a bunch of "elite students", the ones who paid to stay on top. He knew that bribing people with money was one of the easiest things in the world for those who had an abundance of cash. The names that were at the top with his on the score sheets were printed on there with cash. Children from well-off families didn't need to study for their names to be on top of the list, money got it there for them so there was no need to even lift a finger.
That system of "bribery education" lead to the formation of a secret organization, a rebellion, Laqueus. According to them, their main goal was to expose under the table dealings that robbed hardworking students of their rightful place at the top. They were after justice and a fair opportunity for all students. Your place should be determined by your hard work, not your status in society or the amount of money you had in your bank account. All the students— aside from the ones who bribed their way to the top— silently adored and supported them, though nobody knew who was actually affiliated with the group. In one way or another, having such an organization gave them hope that this injustice would end. They endured, believing that the leader of the resistance was sure to come to save them from their misery.
On the other side of the library, _____ pocketed her phone and sat back in her chair as the members of Laqueus entered their hideout. A file was opened on her laptop, emailed from their leader which contained the meeting agenda he had set for the day. Packaged books were stacked on the shelves surrounding a large metal table where various floor plans for the entire school were laid out. The book storage room at the back of the library wasn't the ideal place to hold secret meetings but it was all they had.
A knock came from the door, making all the members perk up. _____ quietly stood up and motioned for the others to hide. If the faculty found out that they had their secret meetings in the book storage room, their plan of achieving justice would fail and all their hard work would come to nothing.
_____ knocked once on the door. "Fiat Justitia." a boy's voice came from behind the door. Breathing a sigh of relief, she opened the door and came face to face with their youngest recruit.
"Hey, leader!" Chan chirped, beaming at her. _____ sighed. "For the last time, I'm not the leader, Chan. I just receive his messages and deliver them to the team."
She ushered him inside. The boy gave her a smile and limped into the storage room. _____ looked down at his feet and noticed that Chan's right foot was bandaged. She frowned. "You were injured from yesterday?"
"Yeah," he answered sheepishly as one of the other members helped him onto a chair. "I was trying to get away as fast as possible."
_____ could only shake her head. It was normal for at least one of them to get injured from a strike. Preparing the materials, executing the plan, and getting away without being caught was very dangerous work. If any of them had been seen it would mean the end of their school life. Expulsion was the punishment for such an offense against the school and being expelled meant that you couldn't fight anymore.
Checking her phone again, _____ told the members that they would start the meeting once the new recruit showed up. They shifted nervously at the news. Getting new members was risky business. You could never tell who would betray you.
"Don't worry," she assured them. "The leader says that he's a good one."
Another knock came at the door. After making sure that everyone was hidden, the vice-leader approached the door. _____ knocked once. She counted, one, two, three seconds before receiving an answer.
"Fiat Justitia."
A smile formed on her mouth as she opened the door to welcome their newest member, an asset that would be a great addition to their cause. The other members of the resistance gaped at who was standing at the door.
Jeon Wonwoo.
__________
_____ figured that it would take a lot of convincing to get the other rebellion members to stop harassing the poor boy with questions. But she couldn’t blame them, who wouldn't be suspicious? If there was one person who would most likely betray them, it would be the infamous teacher’s pet. She had already brought up this concern to their leader but the head of the resistance seemed to have great trust in Wonwoo.
"And why exactly should we trust you?" Seungcheol demanded, banging his hands on the metal table and leaning close to the new recruit's face. _____ could only smile and stay quiet. After the few conversations she already had with their secret leader, the girl was already convinced that the quiet student would never betray them. From what she heard, his hatred for the unfair system probably amounted to more than hers. Plus, with a mind and bank account like his, their plans and attacks were bound to be more successful. To her, Wonwoo was a force to be reckoned with even if he didn't know it yet.
"First of all," he said in a surprisingly steady voice for someone who was being interrogated, "I already know where your hideout is." Seungcheol's open mouth closed itself. With just one sentence he managed to silence one of the fiercest members of the resistance. "Second, I don't need to be on the receiving end of the injustice to know that what those people are doing is wrong."
"Everyone deserves a fair chance to place on top. The only thing that should get a student's name on the list is the grades that they've cried and bled for. A fair chance for everyone is all anyone is asking for. I know how hard it is to stay on top and the fact that there are people who don't have to do anything to be able to surpass what I've achieved on my own angers me."
Wonwoo eyes looked around at the other members as he spoke. _____ saw a light burning in them and spread like a wildfire to the other members in the room. It looked like she didn't need to step in and convince them to accept him as a member, the new recruit was doing that quite well all on his own.
"We have the same goal."
Seungcheol walked up to him and held out his hand for Wonwoo to shake, his mouth breaking into a proud smile. "Welcome to the resistance."
__________
_____ thought that accepting Wonwoo was proving to be one of the best decisions their secret leader had made. She even considered making him a vice-leader along with her. It was like he was born to be a member of Laqueus.
When there was a hole in their plan, he would always be the first to point it out. Funding for their strikes wasn't a problem anymore with his expendable bank account. It seemed that the thought of him betraying them had already been forgotten. Wonwoo was such a big help to their organization that upon hearing of his acceptance ceremony, the entire rebellion wanted to come.
"It would be too much of a risk." _____ reasoned out with them. "Having a lot of people in one place, especially in a place where they aren't supposed to be, will just put us all in danger of being found out."
In all honesty, the acceptance ceremony wasn't much. It was just called that way to make it seem more dignified.
"You're just here to receive this." _____ said as she handed him a small box. Wonwoo opened it and found a thin red ring inside. "Are you proposing?" he joked.
_____ smacked him lightly in the arm. She raised her own hand and showed him the red bracelet clasped around her wrist. "That's just a way for us to see who's on which side."
"That red band is a simplified version of the blindfold that the greek goddess Nike wears." Jeonghan, the team's Intel, said as he strode leisurely into the storage room with Jihoon and Seungkwan following behind him. "The blindfold means that justice is given regardless of who the person is."
"And why is it red?"
"We're at war, idiot." The girl's voice came from behind him. Wonwoo looked at _____ and smiled when she put her hand on his shoulder. "Red is the color of war."
The sound of a pen tapping on the table made him turn towards his other friends. The core of the resistance looked back at him.
"What's your decision Wonwoo?"
He looked towards Jeonghan and Jihoon who were seated around the table. "Well, we don't have all day."
Seungkwan placed a paper on the desk and tapped it with his finger. Wonwoo leaned over the desk and read the words printed onto it.
Laqueus
Member: Jeon Wonwoo
Position: Vice-leader.
The newest member of the organization picked up the pen and signed his name, the red ink stark against the white parchment. The other members smiled and stood to shake his hand.
"Welcome to the core team, vice-leader."
One by one, each core member came to him and shook his hand. “I hope you answer correctly,” Seungcheol whispered into his ear, patting the boy’s back before exiting the room with everyone else.
_____ was the last to stand in front of him and shake his hand. Wonwoo raised his eyebrows at her, their hands still clasped around each other's. He knew from her expression that she was about to ask him something. She had the exact same expression his professors had before they announced a pop quiz or surprise recitation.
“What is the meaning of our secret code?” _____ challenged him, though she already had a feeling that he knew. Wonwoo was one of the smartest kids after all. It wouldn't be a surprise that the meaning of Latin words was just general knowledge to him.
“Fiat Justitia,” he smiled, shaking her hand one more time. “Let justice be done.”
__________
Wonwoo could only keep silent as he watched the members of the core team pace around at the sudden news. He internally face-palmed himself over and over again for not checking which email he had been using before he sent the plan for their strike at the nearing media conference. He was too coffee deprived last night to even register that he was using his personal email rather than the one he had created specifically to use for things that involved Laqueus. Lying to them about his real identity was useless. They would see right through him. All he could do know was tell them the truth.
"So," Jihoon said shakily, his hands gripping the headrest of the nearest chair. "You mean to tell me that you're our leader? All this time?"
He looked towards _____ who was still staring at the computer screen where Wonwoo's email address was written as the sender of their top-secret plan. Wonwoo didn't answer. Honestly, he wasn't sure if they were happy that he was their leader or not. From the blank expressions on their face, it was hard to decipher what thoughts were running through their heads. He was especially aware of _____, sitting a little to his left with her lips pressed into a thin line. She ran a hand through her hair. "Everybody out."
From the look on her face, anyone could tell that disobeying was not an option. As soon as they were alone, she sat in front of him. After confirming three times that he really was their leader she laid her head on the table.
"Are you mad?" Wonwoo carefully asked, afraid that his mistake would ruin the organization. _____ laughed weakly. "Mad? I'm relieved."
She lifted her head and stared at him as if she couldn't believe he was real. "I'm just so happy that you of all people turned out to be our leader. Man, I can’t wait until the others find out—”
“You can’t tell them,” Wonwoo said sharply, cutting her off. Her big surprised eyes met his own, in disbelief that he didn’t want to share this with the rest of the team. “But they’d be so happy to know—”
“_____,” Wonwoo’s voice was low and quiet. _____ froze under his piercing glare. Never had she seen him this serious, not even during important meetings. “If we ever get caught, it's easier to say that you don't know when you really don't than to lie because you know.”
He bent down to look her right in the eye. “This is my way of protecting them.”
The leader of the resistance walked towards the door and threw it open, revealing the embarrassed faces of the other core members who were caught eavesdropping. He looked back and forth between them and _____. “You will tell no one. That’s an order.”
__________
Sabotaging the media conference was the hardest strike they had ever executed. It was also the plan that got their organization caught. None of them, not even Wonwoo, had presumed that the police would be involved.
As the last of the members were pushed to their knees at the foot of the stage, Wonwoo could do nothing but blame himself. He was ready to face punishment on behalf of the organization. That much he could do as their leader. From his place on the stage, his eyes flickered around, looking at the beaten, bloody faces of his comrades. It hurt to see them look so defeated.
"Who is your leader?" the principal's low voice pierced through the silence. With the media gone, he was free to do with them as he pleased. The blank faces of most students made it clear that they didn't know. The principal took a breath to ask again but he was cut off by a low voice from behind him, from someone on the stage.
"I'm the leader."
Wide-eyed students turned in his direction. The fact that the top student in the school had just claimed that he was the leader of the very rebel group that was going against the system was a big shock to the student body and faculty. Wonwoo held his head up high as the principal stormed towards him. The school head grabbed him by the hair, making the boy look him in the eyes. Despite the fear growing in his heart, Wonwoo glared back at the principal, undaunted.
"You had so much potential. Why did you have to throw it all away for poor stupid brats like them?" the principal exasperatedly hissed into his ear as if he were begging Wonwoo to deny his leadership in the alliance. But Wonwoo was anything but unloyal. Even as he was beaten and dragged off to be imprisoned, Wonwoo didn't deny his identity. He was proud to have led such a noble cause and be followed by such honorable people.
The cries of his comrades when the guards were called to take him away echoed in his ears. They watched as his hands were bound by handcuffs, screaming for the police to take them instead. Without a leader, the members of Laqueus felt like their chance of gaining justice was gone.
"Fight," Wonwoo told them as he passed by. He caught sight of _____'s tear-streaked face, almost making him regret exposing himself and leaving her. But as the leader, sacrifices had to be made.
"Fight," he repeated louder. The spark that had been put out lit up again. A solemn atmosphere spread throughout the room like a fog, blocking the sight of those who didn't have a fire burning in their eyes. His comrades knew what he meant and that's all he needed.
And as the police car that he sat in pulled out of the area, Wonwoo saw the same defiant faces that looked at him when he posed as a new recruit, the ones who were tired of having to be a slave to the unjust system and ready to fight for what was right. He knew then that this fight was far from over.
Even if Wonwoo was gone, the resistance was still at war. His last words echoed in their ears, filling them with determination. Especially _____, who Wonwoo had clearly looked at in the eye as he delivered his ultimatum. She nodded at him, promising to finish what he had started. Their leader had given an order and they would follow through.
"Fiat Justitia. That's an order."
