Give Battinson robins but it’s DCxDP style with ghosts.
His kids are… technically not from his world and technically not alive either, but that doesn’t stop him from adopting them. Even if he wasn’t aware of them being literal ghosts for the first few hours of encountering them.
How did they get here? Well, you see, sometimes child ghosts will run into each other, and they’ll form their own little friend groups. Or family groups. Especially if they lack a guardian. Who would tell them not to mess with natural portals.
Or to kidnap a phantom to play with them, but hey he’s enjoying himself too and has a puppy! The bestest boy!
Bruce was not prepared for some sort of energy-thing to open and spit out a good half a dozen children. Nor was he prepared for these children to all have powers, or for another child (thankfully a teen) to fall into the cave a few weeks later.

hrg family vacation was going very well until exactly ten minutes ago when apparently me saying that i wanted to go kayaking in the ocean repeatedly was not clear to my mom and she said oh i didnt know you were serious about that and now the One activity i wanted to do on this trip i might not get to do and trying to intervene from a meltdown (ive already failed)

i have done everything to make myself as tired as possible so i can sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow but im wide awake😭

#song of the day#two hours in a car + four hours in a different car + eight hours on the train + two hours in yet a different car(truck) and now home!#it was a good trip and I'm glad to have done it (actually there's a couple people I didn't get to see so I could've gone for longer)#but today was big stinky balls and I'm so glad to be home at last#the cats are very happy to see us and my poor plants. my poor plants. maybe actually I could not have been gone any longer.#I left such detailed notes on watering but it didn't occur to me to also specify that they should be allowed /light/ my poor plants#anyway our train stopped dead for half an hour outside DC while they changed motors and it was so dark and cold and boring#and I thought 'what's a song I might know all the words to that I've never tried to remember without backing. a nice test song'#and for some reason I came up with Spamalot! a very fun musical#I do indeed know all of the Diva's Lament though I couldn't get You Won't Succeed on Broadway all in the right order#Duncan did ask me what I was thinking about and I got to deliver a couple Diva's Lament lines deadpan#'they've been out searching for a shrub / out shopping for a bush! well they can kiss my tush! / seems to me they've really lost the plot'#no better nonsense than Spamalot

UGH.
#went on my first real work trip in FOUR YEARS yesterday. had one meeting.#woke up this morning and was getting ready for a day of stuff with another one tomorrow#only to find out that one of the only five other people in the wednesday meeting just tested positive for covid#and another had found out she'd been separately exposed as well#so today turned into doing all my meetings on zoom and rearranging travel plans#and now instead of a professional thing i'd been really looking forward to and then a fun weekend add-on with the fam#i'm flying home late tonight to isolate in our third-floor guest room while boyfriend parents etc.#at least we got credit for his and bébé's last-minute flight cancellations#and we decided to leave the dog with the sitter that had already been arranged to just have one less thing on the collective plate for now#but UGH#and what's extra infuriating is that i am probably fine. i got boosted just a few weeks ago and wasn't like hugging anyone or whatever.#but you just don't know and when there's an actual case it's reason to be actually careful#and i'm just so exhausted and bummed about a lot of things already and had so been looking forward to this whole trip#best laid plans#as they say#anyway cross your fingers for me and the battery of rapid tests i'll be taking this weekend#and in addition to staying negative i'm also very concerned about whether anyone will be comfortable will me at thanksgiving#so that's a whole other thing#UGHHHHHHH#fucking#coronavirus

Last year on my way home from Colorado I stopped in Nebraska to see the sandhill crane migration.
This was early in the migration so not even remotely close to peak. And I was like. Next year I'm gonna do peak migration babeeeeeey.
So anyway I booked the Audubon tour you have to do for decent views, and now I just gotta cross my fingers it doesn't snow. Because it's a 10 hour drive to Nebraska lol.
#also gotta decide what to do with Oscar#i mean i could take him with me but I'd have to make sure whatever hotel i get allows cats#and he screams like he's starving to death when i leave him alone#anyway it's drive out > tour in the morning and tour at night > drive home#three day trip lol#there were several days already completely booked so i was like shit guess i better do this now too bad about groceries for this week
