Rumi was fucking PISSED…AGAIN.

Heck, she didn’t think she could be more angry at anyone after the Rat had basically roped her into teaching at UA (although she was now feeling better about it), but here she was. It was here where Rumi made her second mistake: Instead of gathering information through others, like that one Detective Naomasa that Eraserhead swears is the best cop in the force, she did it by herself. After all, she has way better hearing due to her Quirk, why not use them.

Which was why she was here, leaning against a wall surrounding Aldera Junior High, staring at the ground with a look that screamed murder. Fists clenched, lips curled into a snarl, Rumi fished out her phone, thinking of a way to properly report her findings WITHOUT seeming like she’s being biased.

About ten minutes ago…

Rumi was glad to be out for a stroll. Despite being a High-Ranking Pro Hero and the only one to not having an agency to run, she actually has little opportunities to have free time to herself. Mainly because of the HPSC taking advantage of her not being tied down to any region to get her to respond to various situations when they couldn’t get All Might.

At least she now knew why they haven’t been able to get a hold of All Might recently. Being able to continue being the Number 1 Hero despite only being able to do Hero work for only 3 hours a day, maybe less, was quite an accomplishment. Even she had to admit that.

Sure, she’s now still on the job to fish for info about Aldera, but she can do it on her own time. Meaning she could somewhat slack off for a bit. So here she was, dress in civilian clothing with a popsicle in hand, enjoying the weather. Sometimes taking things slow isn’t so bad.

Until she heard the explosion, and the shriek that came with it.

Oh yeah, that Bakugo’s Quirk was named Explosion, wasn’t it? Rumi turned to the school, seeing a smoking black book being flung out of a window. Quickly moving towards to the outer wall close to said window, she lifted the beanie used to cover up her ears, just enough to hear what’s going on.

“…dive off the roof and pray for a Quirk in your next life.”

…What. THE. FUCK!

Saving civilians as a building collapsed around him was easier than facing his worried mum afterwards. He had dealt with All Might's disappointed dad stare and only cried for two hours afterwards.

A serial killing villain with an unknown Quirk would be no problem!

...but even Izuku had to admit that being sent back in time to his first day at UA wasn't on the agenda. Still, there was no-one more spitefully determined than him – he was going to make the most of it.

They land on him first, then move to contemplate the handcuffs that still restrain his wrists to the table. Finally, both of them lock eyes, and Naomasa can see the newly found sense of composure. His lips part, and he speaks.

“My name is Midoriya Izuku.”

In between time loops, the heroine and villain reluctantly get to know each other.

Snippet: Homeroom Miruko (Deus MHA AU) Part 2

Nope, not easy. Not at all.

Rumi was invited to the staff meeting before the recommendation exams, in order to introduce the new teachers. Namely, her and ALL MIGHT (and wasn’t THAT a surprise). Sure, she’s a Pro Hero with years of experience, but she has absolutely zero experience teaching the next generation. Doesn’t mean she can’t gain some right now. Still though, where to start?

 “So what am I supposed to look out for? I only know to read up on the files, but that’s it.” Aizawa looked at his understudy and scoffed.

“Look at their histories, quirks, personalities, reasons for being recommended. Anything that shows potential for being a good Pro Hero… and anything that might cause problems, for themselves or other students.” Aizawa started going through the files, already having started sorting some into different piles.  “Make sure not to come up with early assumptions however. Sometimes records don't match the actual results, either being overexaggerated, underplayed or even mistaken when taken from a wrong perspective. Plus we know nothing about their personalities or them as a person at this point, so keep an open mind.”

… Holy crap, that was actually good advice. Ah well, first time for everything, might as well get started. Let’s see what the next generation of heroes can bring. Maybe this teacher thing won’t be so bad after all.

How DARE that Rat say that she couldn’t teach a class, simply because she doesn’t like doing team-ups. Sure, she’s brash and speaks her mind, which results in her coming off as rude, but that’s her Hero Persona. He (It?) has Midnight on his staff, surely he knows a thing or two about that!

Which has led to her making a bet with Nezu to work as a Teaching Assistant, attached to Eraserhead. The teacher who holds the title of Symbol of Expulsion, having the highest expulsion rate of any teacher in Japan.  Should be a quick and easy job then, right?

RatOverlord: So he isn’t secretly good at manipulating the staff into giving him glowing reviews?

Caerbannog: Well, the tldr version is that I was walking towards the school, chilling while eating my icecream, when I just hear an explosion and see a blackened notebook fly out the window.

Caerbannog: And lo and behold, I hear a kid ranting about a quirkless kid for even daring to apply to UA like him. (No prizes for guessing who the 2 kids in question are.)

NightOwl: Sounds like a problem child already.

Caerbannog: And I hear the most fucked up thing from the Katsuki kid. And this is a quote that I’m typing with such anger that I’m surprised the phone screen isn’t cracked.

And here's part 6, in a chat fic format. And now Deus's Red Flag AU has the original idea where Katsuki's red flags are shown and the consequences that occur.

I had fun thinking about the nicknames everyone can use in the chat.

I'm up for suggestions for how the other teachers can help bring Katsuki and Aldera down.

Snippet: Homeroom Miruko x Red Flag (Deus MHA AU) Part 4

Geez, this day could have gone better.

“I’m going for a walk.” That’s it, a walk. How the heck did it turn into this!

First mistake: She shouldn’t have announced it in the teacher’s dorm common room. She lives there now, sure. And it’s a step up from roaming and renting places. (Lunch Rush making a MEAN carrot soup was 100% a plus.) But instead of not caring about her co-workers (and the Rat King) like she normally would, she decided to let them know. Which resulted in Nezu and Aizawa catching her.

“As long as you’re going out, could you get some info about Aldera?” Pssh, like she could ignore a request from her current boss. Who already has a file of blackmail on her. (A thin one, but it was still blackmail. How the HECK did he find out she has regular spars with Rappa? He knows about the Table, but he agrees to help, so there’s that.) Rumi sighs, before turning to face them with her trademark smirk. “Am I looking out for anything in particular?”

Aizawa hums in thought, but decides to spill. “There’re 2 students applying for the Hero Course from there, but we found it strange as there was never a student there who have applied here, EVER.” And wasn’t THAT suspicious. The best Hero School this side of Japan, in the same prefecture even. Yet, not a single application before this year?

“Even more troubling, the transcripts the school sent us shows them having completely different records. Bakugou Katsuki having a pretty much perfect record, while Izuku Midoriya is a troublemaker.” Rumi frowns and narrows her eyes in thought. Where’s the other boot dropping? Everything sounds normal so far.

Nezu then clears his throat. (Ho boy, here it comes.) “The real problem is how in all the comments from the faculty basically praise Bakugou’s Quirk, and almost nothing else. Midoriya’s the direct opposite, saying that he starts fights, disrupts classes, blah blah blah… but places the most emphasis on how he’s Quirkless.”

Sounds like a school that only cares about powerful Quirks and nothing else, meaning any and all records from there can’t be taken seriously. So the only was to get info from there was to see thing for themselves. And since she just said that she’s “going for a walk”…

Snippet: Homeroom Miruko x Red Flag (Deus MHA AU) Part 3

Something was wrong. Something was VERY wrong.

Rumi was in the viewer booth during the Recommendation Exam. She initially wanted to be on the ground to have a closer look on how the teachers (Present Mic in this case) manage the students. However, Nezu had overruled her (damn tyrant), saying that he wanted her employment to be a surprise to everyone.

At least Eraserhead had pulled her aside before this and just told her that Nezu was basically a chaotic deity who signs their paycheck and does what he wants. (Again, damn tyrant) But to be fair, if she’d been down there with Mic, she’d probably have to kiss her hearing goodbye. Damn, did he have to yell out his commentary on full blast?

So she was now sitting on a couch with her soon-to-be co-workers surrounding her, staring at the recording of the Recommendation Exam. The finish line to be exact. The part where the kids who took first and second place (by over 2 minutes faster than third place who had a fucking SPEED Quirk) seem to be having a one-sided conversation.

However, the wind kid suddenly stopped with his gestures and mannerisms, before changing into a look of hate(?). Especially after seeing the ice boy’s look of pure ANGER which he had throughout the whole exam.

"Something wrong, Miruko?" Aizawa asked. Being an Underground Hero, he was good at situational awareness. Which was how he noticed how Rumi had gone quiet, unlike her usual actions.

Rumi ignored him, switching her tablet to the live feed of the waiting room for their interviews with Nezu, she saw that that Endeavor’s kid (who used ice? Not fire like his father?) still had that angry look on his face. In fact, he seemed to radiate a “Don’t talk to me” aura.

At least Inasa (he got first place, so remembering his name was the least she could do) was actually socializing with some of the others. Although he’d still look somewhat pissed whenever he’d look in Todoroki’s direction.

…Maybe she should tell Aizawa and Nezu about this. They'd know what to make of this.

For the ask game... Homeroom Teachers Miruko.

“Alright you little shits, that’s everything we have to talk about. Go home. Tomorrow the real fun begins.”

The smile on Ms. Usagiyama’s face sends a shiver down Izuku’s spine, and he hurries out the door, only for a hand to snap out and grab him by the collar of his uniform.

“Not you,” Ms. Usagiyama says. Izuku gulps. “I saw your shit performance in the entrance exams.” Oh no.

“I… I…”

“You are not leaving this fucking school until you can use your Quirk without hurting yourself. Got it?”

“Yes, Ms. Usagi—”

“Rumi.”

“Yes, Ms. Rumi!”

“Close enough. For now. Maybe you’ll learn some fucking Quirk control that easily.”

Izuku watches in despair as the rest of the class leaves, Uraraka shooting him a worried glance over her shoulder. He swallows, and waves at her. It’s fine. He expected this, really. Being behind everyone else. Besides, Uraraka barely knows him. She wouldn’t have really wanted to be his friend.

But… Quirk control does sound nice.

Snippet: Homeroom Miruko x Red Flag (Deus MHA AU) Part 7

Rumi stayed near the wall, typing into the group chat about what everyone was planning to do. Not murder or anything illegal like that, of course. They are all still Pro Heroes after all.

But that’s only if it could be proven, and they’d need Nezu's help with the plan anyways.

That’s when she hears it. The almost silent shuffle of shoes on the ground, the splash of something being fished out of water, and the mumble about how if anyone had recorded the conversation SOMEONE is going to jail.

Rumi peeks over the wall (barely), to see the green bush-like hair of Izuku Midoriya. He was wringing the notebook dry, continuing to mumble about a new hero that debuted today and her Quirk. Apparently, he likes to write down stuff about Quirks and such, judging from the sheer amount of quirk-babble coming out of his mouth.

And here is where she makes her third mistake: Letting her emotions take over her reasoning.

But how could anyone NOT! Especially after knowing what she knows about that cute kid and what he’s been through… wait, where did that come from?

She peeks past the corner and sees the boy exit the front gate. He seems completely lost in thought, looking downcast and continuing to mumble away. He’s out of hearing range now, but if she takes off the headgear now, she’d be swarmed by fans and the vultures. (She loves Eraserhead’s term for them, it’s accurate. Apparently it started as a codeword for the media, but it fit so well that it stuck.)

She wants to confront the kit about the other hot-headed kid, but she couldn’t do it in such a public place. It’ll attract attention, and not the good kind either. Not to mention she plans on keeping her ‘employment’ as a UA staff secret from the HPSC as much as possible. (Not to mention her side gig.)

Staying a safe distance behind Izuku, Rumi basically stalked him. She re-read the file the school sent UA about Izuku Midoriya.

Name: Izuku Midoriya (15, M) Quirk: Quirkless Family: Mother – Inko Midoriya (40) Father – Unknown (Left home when Izuku was 4, no contact after, wife has officially filed for divorce) GodMother – Unknown (Not married to Inko, basically an aunt. No information given by Inko or Izuku besides her gender.)

After that was a load of crap saying how Izuku was a bad kid, but Rumi recognizes bullshit when she sees it. Especially after she saw Izuku with her own eyes.

Izuku then turns the corner to a secluded area, heading towards an underpass. He then does something she didn’t expect.

He stuffs his right hand into his pocket and turns around, facing her. “Who are you and why are you following me?”
