Hi, can you write a smut story that starts with love at first sight between the female reader and my favorite Disney villain Captain Hook from my favorite Disney movie, Peter Pan, please? I have a serious fangirl crush on him.

Sorry this took a while. It’s been a minute since I watched the movie but hopefully you like it!!! I decided to make an nsfw ending which I’ll attach later. You know, just in case😉

Playing Hooky

Your bar was busier than usual, and that’s saying something. With it being so close to the docks, it was bound to be full with sea folk, merchants, and other meandering tourists who happen to come to your small town. Especially pirates.

You weren’t too afraid of them really. Most seemed to be rather kind and cheerful, especially with a couple pints of rum in them. Some others, though, made your skin crawl. But nothing terrified you more than Captain James Hook.

Working at the bar, you would hear a few about him and how he lost his hand. But you also heard about his cruelty and things he’s done with his hook.

No. You couldn’t think about that now. Especially since another ship just docked. You walked over to one of the tables where a pair of pirates sat down and greeted them with a smile.

As you sat down a couple of them at a table, another walked over to you.

“Another pint, sweetheart,” he slurred. You smelled the alcohol on his breath from where you were standing. You were used to it, but this smell was almost too much.

“One sec. Just go back and sit.”

“On second thought, I’d rather have a glass of the barmaiden.”

You tried not to gag. He was getting closer to you and he smelled like he hadn’t showered in months. “I’ll get your drink in a second.” You wanted out.

But he didn’t listen. “Ain’t you hear me? I said I want-”

“She’s already spoken for.”

You turned to the source of the voice. A man in a velvety red coat and hat was standing behind you. You had to nearly strain to look up at him.

“Sorry, cap. Didn’t know she was one of yours.” The drunkard stumbled off, making his way back to a lonely corner.

“Forgive him, madam,” your knight apologized. “I hope he did not rattle you too bad.”

“Not at all.” You turned around and finally had a chance to look at him. Long, dark curls sat under his hat and framed his face. Rings adorned his hands. No. Hand. The other was by his side, slightly hidden away. But the light caught it for just a brief moment. It flashed, revealing a metal replacement where the fleshy hand would be. A hook.

“Is something the matter,” he asked. You had been quiet for a little while and he was slightly worried.

“Would you like a drink?” You nearly blurted out. The man in front of you smiled softly, trying to hide his laugh. “I mean, may I give you something to drink? You know, since you helped me out?”

“I’ll gladly take one. Rum, if you have it.” He followed you to the bar, taking a seat while you went behind the counter. You took your time pouring the drink, trying to steady yourself. You were in front of THE Captain Hook. In the flesh. You imagined a fearsome man. Someone tall and rugged and horrifying. Instead you were met with a mustache and blue eyes. Those gentle, soft blue eyes. Get yourself together.

“How do you find yourself here?” You asked. You weren’t even sure why to be honest. “Do you go around bar to bar saving people?”

That made him smile again. “No, my men and I just docked. But I did see that you were uncomfortable and I decided to step in.”

He peaked at you over the rim of his cup, slowly watching for your response. Gosh, he looks good.

“But you said ‘she’s spoken for’”.

“I did.”

“Why’d you say that?”

“That tends to get some people away faster. That and a good threat or two.” He took another few swigs of the drink, emptying the cup. You went ahead and started to refill it. “So are you?”

“Am I what?”

“Spoken for.”

You put the bottle down and looked up at him. He had a sort of wonder to his eyes. Like he was hoping for something. It was drawing you in.

“No. I’m not.”

He smirked. “If that’s the case, may I escort you out of here?”

You eyes shot up at him. You felt a warmth cover your cheeks. Part of you didn’t want to go with him. This was Captain Hook. One of the most fearsome captains in this area. But then again…

“Please do.”

His smile grew. He quickly downed the rest of his drink, leaving cash on the bar and took a couple bottles of rum with him. You told your coworkers that you were leaving early and promised to be back in time for clean up.

The two of you talked for a while. He asked how you found yourself as a barmaiden and in the town you were in. You told him about your father’s old business as a merchant and how it landed you where you were at. He told you about his life at sea and Peter Pan. Also about how he lost his hand.

You felt at ease with him. The world slowed down and gave you both the time to get to know each other. Or maybe that was the alcohol you two drank (mostly him of course). He walked you to the Jolly Roger, giving you a quick tour. You loved watching him talk about his ship and crew. His eyes would light up and his hand would move animatedly as he spoke.

You two stopped at a railing, leaning over and watching the water splash against the sides of the ship. The smell of sea water filled your nose and you welcomed it. “You are very different from what I thought.”

“Oh,” he smiled, “How’s that?”

“From the stories I heard, I thought you would be more frightening. Something for me to be scared of.”

He walked behind you, wrapping an arm around you and pulling you closer to him. “Well, do I scare you?”

You could never get over being close to him like this. His warmth covered you and made you feel safe. How could you ever be scared of him? “No. And I don’t think you truly could. You’ve shown yourself to be kind and gentle to me. No matter how hard I try, I can’t imagine you to be the big scary captain people talk about. Instead your a man that is holding me close and that I fee comfortable around.”

It was silent for a while. You still felt his chest rise and fall as he breathed. His head settled on top of yours. He was thinking about what you said. At least, you hoped he was.

A breeze came in from the water sending a chill down your spine. You shivering shook him out of his thoughts, again making him focus on you. “Are you alright?”

You nodded but another chill gave you goosebumps. Hook took off his coat a wrapped you in it. It nearly covered you like a blanket, the size making it nearly swallowing you up. When you looked back at him, his eyes were on you. You were falling into the color of them so easily. This time, you let yourself fall in. This wasn’t the fearsome Captain Hook. This was a man with the most beautiful eyes and charming smile you’ve ever seen. You felt yourself lean in closer to him. His hand was under your chin. You were only a breath away from his lips.

“May I kiss you?” He whispered his question. You felt each word touch your lips. You needed him badly. All you could do was nod.

His lips met yours. The kiss was heated and gentle at the same time. It was perfect. His hands grounded you as the gripped your hips and pulled you closer. You wrapped your arms around his neck. You wanted more.

“Please,” you whispered between kisses, nearly breathless.

“Please what, starling,” he started making his way to your neck. He had no idea the effect he had on you. “I need you to say it.”

Your body felt like it was on fire. “I need more. I need you, please.”

“Absolutely, my captain.” He picked you up and wrapped your legs around his waist. He walked you to his captain’s quarters and laid you on his feather bed. “Let me treat you like the princess you are.”

You woke up to your world slightly rocking. The sun was bright and filled the room entirely. You tried to get up but an arm held you tightly by your waist. Memories of last night filled your mind as a blush crept up your cheeks. You slept with the Captain Hook. You’re in his bed!

You were slightly panicking but you also felt safe. He made you feel safe. You felt his mustache tickle the back of your neck and shoulder. “Good morning, starling.”

You kissed his hand. “Morning.” He sat up and leaned over to look at you. His eyes skimmed over your body with a hungry look. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Just thinking about how good you taste. And how much I would want to taste you again.” Your breathing hitched. You had to look away from him. How can he say things like that and expect you to still look him in the eye?

He laughed softly, bringing your face back to him. He kissed you, leaving a memory on your lips. “Stay with me.”

You were shocked. You only just met this man. The town was your life. Your world. It was all you knew. Of course you’ve dreamt of leaving but is this the right time?

He saw the look on your face. How your eyebrows knitted together in deep thought. “You don’t have to decide today. Take your time and tell me when-“

“Yes.”

Your answer came out faster than you intended. You weren’t even sure if he heard you. But the look in his face said that he did.

“Are you sure?”

“I want to stay with you, Hook.”

He smiled brightly, kissing your hand and cheek. “If you’re staying with me, please call me James.”

🍕 - What is their favorite food?

Adrian generally enjoys seafood whenever she can get it, most red meats, chocolate things... but her absolute favorite is this weird spiky sea melon-fruit out of Kajhe, it's like a mix between sweetsop, honeycrisp apple, and cherry in terms of taste & just-ripe banana in texture.

Sid will do many things for Taco Bell. Especially when the Crunchwrap Supreme comes out 😂

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Adrian - pre ME-series? When she was in her late teens and visited Earth for the first time, staying with her mother's side of the family, and got to take a trip to the beach. She swam out to the point of not seeing land any more, and was just... floating there a while, under a clear blue sky, no distinction where it ended and the water began.

Sid - hard to say, honestly. Even her happiest memories as a kid are deeply, deeply soured now. Probably the happiest would be the first day she played hooky from school to watch a copy of Scream she sneaked from a video rental place.

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Adrian - genuinely neither knows nor cares to nail it down for quite a while lol; all she knows is she yote the chest & internal reproductive organs as soon as possible, and Some Folks Are Just Hot. (Meta level - mostly gendervoid with a masc lean, actually not picky about pronouns & just kinda rolls with the she/her thing; pansexual/grayromantic)

Sid - Weird Girl Who Grew Into A Weirder Man, somewhere in the aroace range with occasional spikes of Intrigue; eventually shifts to using she/him pronouns.

🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?

Adrian - Dude, Commander Shepard is inherently a power fantasy, what's not to love 😂 I love getting to make her kind of a nerd.

Sid - She's my angsty edge lord <3

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

Adrian is genuinely somniphobic by the story-relevant points in her life - it gets /managed/, but never truly goes away.

Sid, meanwhile, has /extreme/ tokophobia - not sure how much it'll ever come up in the story, but it's there. (She also develops a moderate fear of bridges and rivers for a while)

the last binding trilogy by freya marske: finally read these a few months ago and i loved them so much 😭 great romance great characters exciting plot with high stakes FOUND FAMILY!!

silver under nightfall by rin chupeco (and the sequel court of wanderers)… vampire couple x vampire hunter throuple of my dreams what more can you want

ocean’s echo / winter’s orbit by everina maxwell: queer scifi romance!!!! stand-alones set in the same universe but both are great

station eleven by emily st. john mandel: this is a pretty well known book but it was GOOD! takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and centers on the importance of living as opposed to just surviving and also the beauty of creating and sharing art ❤️

the lost village by camilla sten: a group of people filming a documentary go to an abandoned village where everyone in the town just up and disappeared one day and were never seen again and weird stuff starts happening. i read this in like 2 days. also i based the town in the stoncy ghost files au off of this lmao

the whisper man and the shadows by alex north: crazy as fuck plot twists that made me close the book and run around my house. he has a third book too but unfortunately I didn’t like it very much

night film by marisha pessl: reporter obsessed with elusive director who’s daughter just mysteriously died investigates director and his family. very good mixed media element and very immersive

mister magic by kiersten white: child actors from children’s tv show mister magic — a tv show that ended suddenly and tragically, with no surviving video footage or evidence of the creative team behind the show whatsoever — gather together for a reunion as adults. kinda like if IT by stephen king was combined with a weird creeypasta and throw in some religious trauma also. sooooo good

9. Favorite piece of G/t media

Oooh! I answered this a few times but I always got more recs 😘

I adored the webtoon Hooky! There is a reoccurring g/t theme starting early on that lasts nearly to then end and BOY is it ever good. The story is amazing, regardless of the G/t and I highly recommend it!

12. If you suddenly grew/shrunk right now, what would happen?

I would not be getting my deposit back for my rental, thats for sure.

A more interesting answer is that someone would definitely call 911 for the property damage alone and I'd be hightailing it out of the city. I know quite a few of the local first responders so that would likely be a very awkward encounter.

15. What size scenario is the funniest to you?

As a more general scenario- Enemies/rivals in a begrudging forced proximity because one of them shrinks and for some reason they have to deal with eachother and the size scenario.

Also when the giant is creeped out/terrified of the tiny for whatever reason.

17. How long have you been into G/t?

Oof- Quite a while. I don't know exactly when it started- because I think it started as a byproduct of a quasi g/t interest? As a little kid I was really into the idea of shrinking- not at all for the the sizey interactions but strictly for educational purposes (thank you magic school bus). I've been into biology and animal behavior/physiology for as long as I can remember, and was fixated on being able to learn about animals much more close up. I don't know when it became about sizey interactions, or when I realized I wanted to be big but I know it was before I was 12 for sure. I'd guess somewhere between grade 3-6? Honestly it could have been even earlier than that.

18. Favorite G/t creators!

WOOO! I could keep going all day with this! I absolutely adore @guaxinimraccoon 's work with Euphoria 👀 Brad and Toby are incredibly fun character's and their lore??? CHEF'S KISS.

I get so excited anytime I see a new post from them!! The art style is so fun and expressive, and the pacing of their comics is absolutely wonderful!!

There are two good deleted scenes from Portions for Foxes. Here is the angsty/sappy one (I have another request in the queue, so you' can'll see the bonkers one later). This happens near the end of the fic, so I'm gonna stick the explanation under the cut for spoilers, in case anyone out there has not read my four-year-old fanfic.

So, the first time I wrote the part in Chapter 4 where Renji accidentally tells Rukia that he loves her in the middle of the night, I had her get up in the morning and just go to work, so she wasn't there when he woke up. This is how that scene continued after that. The beginning may feel familiar because I scrounged most of it back into the fic later, but put it here for context.

This scene is actually kind of an interesting insight into my writing process-- I wrote it, it felt wrong to me, I was Angry for a week, and then I replaced it with the version that ended up in the final story. The flaw here, as I eventually identified it, is that the characters Say Too Much. I have a tendency to write my characters explaining everything about the story to the reader, which is not what I want-- I want to keep things subtle, I want to let the reader make connections themselves. Also, while I, personally, am constantly deconstructing and analyzing my own feelings and behavior, that's not a thing that realistic and interesting characters should be doing in stories. On the other hand, this kind of thing definitely definitely falls into the "no writing is wasted" category, because having a piece of text where I have spelled out what is going on can be enormously helpful for making sure it got sprinkled in there.

It's late morning when Renji rolls into the offices of the 13th Division, his arms full.

"What the fuck am I supposed to do with these?" Rukia exclaims, as he dumps an enormous bouquet of red camellias into her arms.

"I'll find a vase," he promises, "I'm sure Captain Ukitake kept some around?"

"Leftmost bottom cabinet," Rukia grudgingly supplies. "Next to the extra paper." She eyes the white paper bag he has also deposited on her desk. It is printed with the label of her favorite confectionery shop. "And you know that's not what I meant."

Renji returns with a vase and relieves her of the flowers. "We need to talk."

She watches him try to fluff the flowers in the vase. "You don't know anything about flowers, do you?"

"I know about camellias," he responds simply.

She swallows. "Renji, don't."

He regards her for a moment. "You're right. I don't want to do this at the office. Let's play hooky."

She looks skeptical, so he snatches up the bag of wagashi and shakes it tantalizingly. "I'm going for a walk and taking these with me."

Rukia wrinkles her nose. "Fine. But only because I know you're going to subject me to this sooner or later, you never let anything lie. Now, help me get out of this chair."

He gives her a hand up.

"Did Brother do this often?" Rukia asks as they walk, trying to needle him. "Play hooky?"

She has repossessed her bag of sweets, although she did give him one. 

"He did, actually," Renji replies, a fond smile on his face. "It took me a while to figure out, but he used to say, 'Lieutenant! Attend me!' and then he'd go off somewhere, walking fast, very serious face on, me trying to keep up. And we'd go somewhere-- the first time, it was Soukyoku Hill, I remember that. And he would just stand there for a while, twenty, thirty minutes and then we'd go back. The cherry grove over near the Academy. The Royal Botanical Gardens. Those ugly sculptures outside the Art Museum. I think he took me along because it made it look like he was off doing something official, but I'm pretty sure he just liked getting out of the office once in a while."    

Rukia is making a face. "I think he liked being with people, but he didn't like talking to them. He did that to me all the time, too, although it was more often the woods behind the Manor or the gardens. He liked to sit and draw together, too."

They are both silent for a long moment.

"Only took us five months," Renji says quietly, "to be able to talk about him." 

"Is that what you wanted to talk about?" Rukia snaps, a bit too harshly.

"No," Renji replies. "Look, we're here, you wanna find a spot to sit?"

He's brought them out to the Red Hollow Gate Overlook, a place they have spent many an hour, the best view of South Rukongai in the Seireitei. It is the analog of the overlook in Inuzuri where they used to stand, looking inward. It was the place where they buried their dead, but it never felt morbid to them. It was just a place they all liked to be, a place they might pick to be forever, when the time came.

It is getting into late autumn, and Rukongai is mostly brown now, just a small ring around the Seireitei ablaze in scarlets and oranges. Renji tries to guesstimate where the color ends. 18, maybe? They've probably already had snow in Inuzuri. 

No one is up here today. Fall colors have lost their charm and it’s pretty chilly. Renji spreads his haori on the ground and helps Rukia sit before plopping down beside her.

He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly.

"You don't have to--" Rukia tries to interrupt.

"I do, actually. This has been killing me, Rukia, so let me say my piece, will ya?"

Her mouth snaps shut.

"I have spent my entire adult life trying to be better than I am," he sighs. "A good part of my adolescence, too, for that matter." He smiles sadly. "I wasn't exactly close, but I was gettin' there."

"Close to what?" Rukia demands.

"To being good enough," he explains, as though this clarifies anything. "To feel like I would have something--anything-- to offer you if I were to, y'know, ask you to marry me."

Rukia takes a sharp intake of breath.

"And then-- just after the biggest failure of my whole life-- failed my captain, failed you, failed everyone, and I let myself fall back into being an absolute trash heap of a person, you had to go and ask me, instead."

"Renji, you were grieving. You're still grieving. I shouldn't have--"

"I'm not trying to blame you! I'm just trying to explain why I haven't been the husband I always wanted to be for you. That I'm not even sure if that's something you want. That even though I've been a miserable pile of shit, I still love you, for whatever the love of a miserable pile of shit is worth."

"Oh, Renji," Rukia manages, throwing her arms around him. "You act like I've been any better. The only good thing I've been able to do-- the only thing that's kept me from giving up-- has been trying to hold you together. And lately, it seems like you're doing so much better and I'm not, I'm not better at all, and you don't need me anymore and I don't know-- I don't--"

"Shh, shh," Renji says, taking her in his arms. "Of course I need you. I've always needed you. I've only managed to get my shit in line because I thought that's what you needed. I can go back to drinking my breakfast if that's what you'd prefer."

"It's not," she scowls back at him. 

"Okay," he nods. "But maybe instead of being two sad people who can't even talk to each other, maybe we can try to be two sad people who are trying to help each other. Who are trying to get better, for each other's sake, if not for our own."   

She nods, unable to speak, and stuffs her face into his side. A muffled “I love you, too. I’m sorry,” eventually emerges.

“You’re sorry? For what?”

She turns her head a little. “For making you marry me. For roping you into Kuchiki family politics.”

He guffaws. “I was the one who told you gettin’ adopted was a good idea, all those years ago. And you shut up about our wedding, I loved our wedding. Fuck Ichigo and his dumb ideas, gettin’ married in secret and fucking over a bunch of nobles was awesome.”

“I liked it, too,” she says in a tiny little voice.

Renji sighs. “Speaking of Ichigo, though… I guess it’s probably about time I go apologize to him, huh?”

“Why is he mad at you anyway?”

“He didn’t think I was doing a very good job of taking care of you. And I got mad at him back because he was right.”

“Do you have to go right now?”

Renji shakes his head, and tightens his arms around her. “Naw," he says. "He can wait. I’m busy right now.”

I tried looking at my writing history in scrivener(my writing processor) but I couldn't get all my stats, but for November I had about 94,000 and December it was 86,000. I've been writing pretty consistently all year so I'd guess close to 600,000 words, maybe higher?

This is hard, not gonna lie. All my fics are like pieces of my soul, however, my favorite to work on is A Cure For Love. I LOVE coming up with the lore for witches and Naturals and I can take the story anywhere I want with the characters I love without fearing I'm forgetting some facet of the series. There's a freedom there that I'm addicted to.

Monster, hands down, Monster is the hardest to write for. So much information! So much researched to be done, so many factors to take into account in order to make it fit believably in the Naruto universe. Not to mention, I'm not jutsu savvy, I struggle with how they work, what's possible what isn't, how this does that, it drives me up the wall!

Driving plot forward! The NH fair taught me how to do it more effectively and I am itching to apply the skills to my longer fics.

I actually did a poll to find that out from my readers, lol. Seems like Secrets of the Hidden Leaf and Prey are the most anticipated by my readers. For me, it's an unpublished work I cannot disclose at this time 🤭

Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?, Link your three favorite fics right now (please), What is your most and least favorite part of writing?, and Have you had a writer you admire comment on your fic? What was that like?

1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

I always think of myself as a novelist, and that carries over to fanfiction as well. Granted, I've written more oneshots than chapterfics, because it takes a lot less time, but I really do love sinking my teeth into a hefty chapterfic. I suppose one of my favorite ways to compromise is to do a collection of oneshots. It's great for when I have a bunch of ideas for a certain relationship or AU, but don't necessarily want to devote the time and attention an actual chapterfic would require.

11. Link your three favorite fics right now

This is...really hard. There are so many good ones! I couldn't possibly rank all of my favorites, because every fic that earns its way onto my faves has something uniquely wonderful about it, and it's really hard to compare. (Also, what is "right now" supposed to mean? Do other people...stop loving their faves? With very few exceptions, once a fic makes its way onto my faves list, it's there to stay.) But here are three from different fandoms:

Tempest by Bookwrm389 (FMA) - Parental!RoyEd fic involving Ed and Mustang fighting Scar during a thunderstorm, gobs of angst and hurt/comfort, everyone so perfectly in-character, some truly epic moments as well as some great humor (very fitting for FMA), and overall it's just impeccably written in every way. I thought of this one when answering question 60 below, and knew I had to mention this fic, because it was the first time I ever saved a fic to my hard drive that was written by someone who wasn't a personal friend. I'm not very good or consistent about saving the fics I really like, but I knew immediately that if I ever lost access to this one, I would regret it forever.

John Plays Hooky by chappysmom (Sherlock) - A fun, shortish chapterfic about John taking an unplanned day off to just enjoy himself, and unintentionally leading Sherlock on a wild goose chase as he tries to solve the mystery of where John suddenly disappeared to. The characters are written excellently, there's so much fun irony in knowing both sides of what's going on when the characters don't, and it's also an excellent display of what sort of person John Watson is. It's a fic that just makes me smile every time I think of it.

Wander into My Mind by SergeantToMyCaptain (Captain America) - Go ahead, accuse me of favoritism, but this fic written by my bestie is just...phenomenal. It's in an AU in which Bucky comes to Steve, who is helping him recover from everything Hydra did to him, and in which Steve and Sharon actually get a chance to go somewhere with their relationship. The fic is about one of Bucky's bad days, and how Steve helps him deal with it. Basically it's just a huge ball of hurt/comfort and some of the most exquisite angst and tenderness you'll ever read. Not a story for everyone, I suppose - you have to be comfortable with men being very soft and affectionate with each other, without even a smidge of romance between them. But if that's a pill you can swallow, do yourself a favor and go read this masterpiece.

27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing?

Well, they're definitely related. I'm not very good at coming up with ideas on my own, so the brainstorming stage is often my least-favorite. It's much more fun, and much more effective, when I have someone to bounce ideas off of, but even so, what I really love is when the whole story is figured out, I know the basic gist of how things will play out, and all that's left is for me to sit down and find the words to write it. I love that. Sure, sometimes I end up staring at a blinking cursor even when I have a plan in mind, but it's just so satisfying to finally be able to put down on paper the scenes you've been daydreaming about. It never quite turns out exactly the way I think it will, and sometimes I need to take several passes at it before it gets to where I want it to be, but that part of the process is when I really feel like I'm in the zone. This is why I work best as part of a team, really - if someone else can help me with ideas, I'm perfectly happy to be in charge of actually writing those ideas out in the form of a story.

60. Have you had a writer you admire comment on your fic? What was that like?

Sadly, this writer seems to have disappeared and taken down/orphaned her fics, but one of the greatest moments of my fanfic career was when Bookwrm389 commented on my FMA fic "Silence-Carved Scars" and gushed about it. It's a Parental!RoyEd fic that was originally inspired by her Parental!RoyEd fic "Gold from Lead." Both fics involve a misunderstanding about the nature of Ed and Mustang's relationship, but she said I went farther than she'd dared to do. I was walking on cloud nine for a while, believe me ^_^

Daeran Arendae - Wrath of the Righteous

Hedonist. Ethically bankrupt. Walking problematic. I love him. Best romance subplot in an rpg as he actually tries to woo the player. Love doesn't change him but he changes for love. When he ascends to godhood he actively ignores prayers but smites those who talk any shit about his spouse. Has a traumatic backstory as expected but doesn't neuter his character or development.

Bayonetta - Bayonetta

Tells all the gods above and the demons below to fuck off with a combination of high caliber and fem. There has always been a lot of discourse around her but I honest love that there's a female character whose femininity solely for herself and not in-spite of how much ass she kicks. She's an icon and I wish I could pull off purple eye shadow like that.

Raven - Gravity Rush

Goth girl with the power to manipulate gravity's effect on her and the surrounding area. Not super complex as a character but something about her design and dead-pan personality has always stuck with me. Also has a great enemies to not-explicit-but-I-mean-come-on-it's-obviously-sapphic-coded relationship with the main character Kat.

A2 - Nier Automata

Definition of suffering from success. The only survivor of the ill-fated YoRHa Pear Harbor descents and so good at her job that future YoRHa models were based on her. Absolutely lost her shit when her girlfriend died and began a one-woman crusade against the machine beings. We stan a woman with goals. When other characters are blowing themselves (and their skirts) up as their ultimate move, A2 just goes sicko mode. Our baby boy. Even when he's super-serious-government-agent-man he just serves so much golden retriever energy. Resident Evil is at its best when it treats the zombie survival scenario seriously but adds a dash of levity and one-liners to its characters. Leon embodies that.

Beatrice - Umineko no Naku Koro Ni

Beatrice is the culmination of my weird addiction to characters with unhealthy love languages. Reality warping witch born from the existentialism that comes with trauma that plays horrific death games with the family of the man she loves all as a means to communicate with him where words fail? Yes please.

Faith Connors - Mirror's Edge

Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games of all time. The use of color, sound effects, and music always made me feel like I was seeing The City specifically as Faith sees it. This connection created a deeper bond and feeling of embodiment than other first-person games, especially at that time. Her story may not be the deepest or most complex but is so memorable. Door-to-Door, Part One (see previous or series)

Summary: Going public has its drawbacks but you have more than just Steve's support.

While no warnings really apply to this part, this storyline is not suitable for all ages. MINORS DNI.

Dating has its ups and downs. You’re with both Steve Rogers and Captain America, but the press are pretty indifferent to you dating Cap. Stories about your ‘brother’ are irritating to the whole family because you and your parents worked really hard to make Ro feel supported. Tabloids don’t seem to care if they dead-name people. Ro ends their leave time and returns to cruise work to get away from the nonsense, wishing you good luck.

Without any real scandal in your present, one ‘journalist’ runs a horrifyingly inaccurate, nonsensical, drivel piece about Norm grooming you for the express purpose of going after Steve. Somehow your entire education, your lack of previous longterm romances, even your hobbies are all reduced to a ploy for attracting the dude you are half-convinced isn’t actually attracted to you.

You still have to show your face at work like none of it bothers you, as if you’re not getting a call every hour from Norm’s widow. Bruce tells you to go home at lunch, but you go hide in Steve’s apartment and use his pretty, pretty pencils to draw the world’s fanciest stick figures until he returns.

They run this story, of course, three weeks after the one-year anniversary of Norm’s death, so it makes you sick to your stomach to think people might actually believe it. His family deserves better. Steve believes you deserve better and, shortly after he arrives, excuses himself to get your favorite food as comfort.

Except…he clearly doesn’t go do that because Natasha texts you about half an hour later with a simple:

: Never heard Steve yell like that.

—followed by a text from Tony Stark himself (a man who does not text you)—

: Star-Spangler

: I’m handling it. Call off Goldie.

: I think he ruptured my eardrum

: Correction: Pep says that was def Morgan yesterday at the park.

Steve comes back with your food like nothing’s happened and apologizes for the wait.

The story miraculously goes away which is good for Norm’s family, but you have absolutely zero clue how to talk about any of it with Steve. There’s a twinge of fear that even he might believe the faintest hint of that awful article.

Instead, in the middle of an emotionally draining ‘hike’—you’re fully dragging your feet by this point—Steve turns around to grip your chin and force you to look at him. It’s a bright, sunny spring day, and he is so perfectly America’s Golden Boy, your heart dies and resuscitates simply by the potency of his glow.

“It worked,” he starts with an easy smile. “You didn’t do any of that for me, and they didn’t even mention the best bits.” Steve releases your chin and sweeps a bit of hair behind your ear carefully, slowly, (you think) sensually. “That’s what I kept thinking. Gosh, they don’t know the half of it, the stuff that I…appreciate about you.”

That pause.

That one hesitation where your stomach bottoms out and you go blind. Was he gonna say it? Why didn’t he say it? Why do you expect him to say it? You analyze every micro expression you think you saw on his face, unsure how much to get your hopes up. Steve’s feelings are indecipherable, an uncrackable code, mostly because his physical actions are so limited towards you and they haven’t really escalated to the point you’d think it’s love.

By the end of the walk, Steve offers to play hooky for an upcoming event, the biggest you two will have attended as a couple yet. You don’t have to worry about anything big-press related, he insists. You can stay in, just the two of you.

You’re feeling staunchly brave. You won’t give those fuckers the satisfaction. Steve even lets the curse go without protest, but he asks again the day before the gala to make sure you haven’t lost your nerve. Tony advises that you not skip it, says it will help to offer some innocuous photo ops, says it’ll bury the need for any salacious stories.

Tony Stark has a skewed version of ‘innocuous.’ 

The spring charity gala starts with a red carpet entrance and a truly outrageous amount of press. Steve is a huge stick in the mud. You can’t blame him. You’re fighting back tears by the time you reach the actual front doors.

“Are you pregnant? Is that why you’re together?”

“Do you think of yourself as the worthiest woman then?”

“Have you gotten a makeover to be ready for tonight?”

“Do you feel pressure to slim down?”

“Will you quit work now that you’re a kept woman?”

Half of these go unnoticed by Steve because he is asked other questions, relevant ones about the damn charity, while you get grilled, roasted, and skewered.

You have to stop by the restroom to check your makeup before returning inside where more photographers await. You did have a bit of a makeover—and a pep talk—from Natasha before this, but your carefully tempered nerves of steel are warping in the direct heat of utter bullshit. You’ll never joke that he’s Captain Judgment ever again.

When you pop out of the restroom after a too-long reprieve, Steve is right there. “Say the word and we leave.”

You say nothing, nod and smile, but he becomes a wall of muscle between you and almost everyone the whole night. Literally, only fellow Avengers are allowed to approach you, which is an appreciated protection but makes it impossible to think of anything other than how polarizing you seem to be. You keep drinking and try to distract yourself.

The band doesn’t play Steve’s type of music, so he stays seated with you during the majority of the night. He puts his hand on your knee, tells you that you look lovely in the dress you’re convinced is suffocating you very slowly, and says he’d like to dance with you…just not to this and not here. As always, his hand is warm and heavy.

After seeing you wiggle around to the beat, Tony takes pity and offers his hand. He doesn’t allow Steve time to answer the rushed “you don’t mind” before pulling you around the table to the center floor. There’re plenty of people dancing already, and it’s an easy bit of fun. Moving helps you flake off some anxious energy.

Tony looks around for a bit, assessing the party, then returns his focus to you. “Nice to have ya ‘round, Spangler.”

You sniffle a bit and whip your hair out of your face dramatically. “It’s nice to be around, sir.”

He brings you very close to dance, expecting the eye roll it earns him, but Tony’s hand stays respectfully high on your waist. “You look very glowy tonight. Could it be love?”

A nervous giggle is all you manage while failing to stop a glance over his shoulder at Steve. 

“People don’t generally shriek at me for good reasons,” Tony rambles as he sways with you, “sure, yeah, valid reasons but rarely good reasons. Pep yells at me out of love, or so I’m told—“ he snorts “—baby girl also. Those are one-hundred percent loving shrieks.”

Steve chats with a couple of people on the other side of the room. Your cheeks burn, and you try to change the subject. “And how is Miss Morgan?”

Tony puffs up. “Smartest kid ever. Runs away from all responsibility. Won’t pick up her toys. Orders Dum-E around. Dum-E actually listens to her which is just insulting.” He shrugs with the most rapturous grin on. “She’ll eclipse me by ten.”

How predictable of a Stark… “A young whippersnapper, eh?” 

It’s the kind of joke that makes the billionaire’s eyes melt when he recognizes who it reminds him of.

Unnervingly, he keeps his full attention trained on you for a few more steps. “I’m glad he has you.” Tony twirls you around playfully. “Pep’s hoping to do a cookout by the river when summer hits. You in?”

Tony’s caught you off guard with his intuition, so you nod and accidentally swing back into his chest a little hard. He mockingly clutches his heart while you apologize. Tony assures you the outing would be secluded and no stress. He thinks that’s what’s flustered you.

You wouldn’t dare complain or let Stark in on any details of your relationship, but your throat tightens at his words. You’re in pretty deep now, and your feelings are obvious enough that Mr. Neon Signs is onto you. It makes you foggy the rest of the event.

How many fics have you written?

When did you publish your first fic on AO3?

Describe your writing process from “Oh, I have an idea” to pushing publish on AO3. 

I get an idea, open a doc, and then I get nervous! But then I start putting words down—I usually get an idea about how I want something to start off, so I write pretty much in order till I get stuck and then I’ll put brackets for future Neely to deal with. It helps to have a friend scream encouragement, so I usually share my doc with someone I trust so that they can cheerlead for me. If it’s a bigger story, or if it’s for a fest, I’ll have a friend beta for me when I’ve got a pretty good draft done to be sure I didn’t miss anything and that everything makes sense. Then comes the trauma of choosing a title and writing a summary, and then BOOM it’s published!

Tell me about your most recent fic? What do you love about it? Is there anything you think you could have done better?

My most recent fic is 1. He loves his husband. It was based on a prompt that several friends all decided to fill, using 300 words or less. I like challenges like that, I like prompts, so it was so fun. I love that the title for the fic and the idea to make it part of a list came to me almost immediately, fully formed. That was energizing and fun, and the whole story flowed really easily as I was writing. While I know I can always improve and learn and grow, I really like how the fic turned out! I’m super happy with it.

What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about publishing their fic for the first time?

Please do it! Write a story that you love, do the best you can, and take the leap. I hadn’t written for pleasure in years and years, and I was really nervous when I first got an idea that I couldn’t shake. I never intended to write fic, I was just going to be a reader. It was so empowering to put something on AO3, something I made. I’d also suggest leveraging your friends to support your writing process and your post-publishing anxiety. I was brave with that first fic because of the encouragement of my friend @this-is-not-nothing​, who kept telling me I could do it! And knowing that I have at least a couple of good friends who will read anything I write, even in a niche fandom where I’m truly writing basically for myself, is really lovely.

Tell me about a story that you wish you could write but that you’re not quite ready to tackle.

I have an idea for a historical AU that would be kinda long, maybe? I’ve gotten as far as the majority of the casting, but I need to get brave and dive into it. I’ve not done a true longfic, and I’m not even sure how long this one would be, but I’m so in awe of all our SC writers who really, really do longfic well.

Alexis is trapped in a drug lord’s palace and you have to convince her captors to read your fic in order to free her. What’s your best sales pitch for your favorite fic?

(Picking one favorite is incorrect, they are all my bebés, but I will play along here.) Hello drug lord people, since you obviously like Alexis, I’d like to tell you about my very fluffy fic We Must Let Go to Know What’s Right. On the night of the infamous barbecue, both Alexis and Rachel are sad. But then they discover that hooking up makes them less sad, and that building a relationship together makes them happy! Oh, and Rachel has two kittens! 

Do you write for any other fandoms? Which ones?

Oo, yes! I’ve written Schitt’s Creek RPF, as I mentioned, along with some Supernatural, Red White and Royal Blue, Ted Lasso, 911 Lone Star, Broadway RPF, and Great British Bake Off RPF.

What is your comfort fic?

Oh gosh—I love all things magical, and also anything domestically fluffy, and so many other genres and tropes…but I don’t have a particular fic I look to for comfort, really. 

Is there someone(s) who has made your writing better? In what way?

We have so many amazing authors in the SC fandom, I feel like all the fic I’ve read over the last three years has made me better. Seeing all the different styles and approaches that different people take with the same group of characters has allowed me to dream and write the things that speak to me in my own way. I also think that being a beta has made me a better writer. I love encouraging, brainstorming, and editing, all of which are things I’ve gotten to do as a beta. Getting an in-depth look at another writer’s process, and being a small part of it, is an honor and a privilege, and has been a great learning experience for me.

I've read Hooky! I was reading it while it was running. i own a copy of the first volume!

Gourmet Hound i followed from basically the beginning, its one of my all time favorite webcomics. the art is so lovely and the plot is even more so. i miss lucy and graham every day theyre so sweet...

Muted is also a favroite of mine! i was reading it since it was on canvas, its absolutely gorgeous. the water color look of the bg is something im so enamored with, the comic settings are just Wow

god i miss the Strange Tales of Oscar Zahn. it;s really pretty. i think about the war ghost one literally all the time, it's such a fun horror series and i really liked it. it's honestly been a few years since i read this, i should really read that arc again

Ghost Teller is another one i loved. i def likes some stories mroe than others, but the art was all so nice. i wish theyd do another season, but theyre also valid to end it where they did

ive read apocalyptic horseplay, crumbs, thornstone, rise from the ashes, luff, and yumi's cells... i followed the first four for a while, read only the opening chapters of luff, and all of yumi's cells, but none of them were really for me. ive also read scoob and shag, and tho i did like it, it got too confusing and i ended up dropping it. i might pick it back up soon tho!

ive also read miss abott and the doctor, waaaaaay back when it was on tapas (tapastic, at the time), but i stopped when it became an original bc i didnt use webtoon yet. i didnt remember it till it was alreayd finished and behind the wall of daily pass

city of blank is another all time favorite comic, ive been reading it since canvas. i love the main cast, the worldbuilding is super fun, i love the author's sense of humor! and the art... i live the style of course, everyone's masks are so fun and so is everything else in this one, but like... oh i dont even know how to explain it. it feels different artistically than other comics? i follow the creator on tiwtter, and at one point they posted abt how they use speech bubbles with a gradient that's color-coded depending on who is speaking, w everyone having a different color, and yes that makes their job more difficult but its important to the comic's look/feel and they enjoyed it so they kept up w it. and that sort of like, attention to the comic being unique and looking nice is something that reallt showed thru the whole comic and makes it super enjoyable. i fucking love city of blank man it deserves so much praise

the witch and the bull is so pretty! the music in this comic is also really pretty

four leaf is so neat. i feel like ive been following this one... if not since it started, then from pretty early on. im really enjoying the current episodes and what we're learning about the wolf, and ive been enjoying learning more abt the darker parts of the witches

heir's game. beloved heir's game. i think ive been reading this one from the start and im obsessed with it. i was literally reading last night's update when you sent this ask. there are episodes in this comic i still think about regularly. its so fucking good and i literally recommend this comic all the time, god, its so cool and really interesting, and the art's fantastic

room of swords... ive been following this oen since before they even got off that first world. ive completely lost the plot and have no earthly clue whats happening at all anymore. im wildly behind on it. im having fun tho. also, nothing will top the high for me of reading this comic week to week for some time and thinking "this is fun if like, painfully 'straight gamer' vibe" and then revealing the protagonist is gay and having him/the main cast be saved by his partner

Suihira: the city of water is really neat! i like the god system and im interested to learn more about it. the art's also really fun

im also reading erma! its not really my thing, but i do check in on it from time to time

ive read Lackadaisy, and i liked it, but i was somewhat confused so i ended up dropping it. i keep thinking if i started from the top and reread it id probably like it again, but i havent gotten around to it. maybe this, again, can be my sign!

Arthwind i read for a while but i think i dropped it when it went on hiatus, bc id been a bit confused anyway prior to that, and when it came back from break i realized i couldnt really remember the plot. the art's super nice, though. maybe i should try it again

Everywhere and nowhere, Madame Outlaw, Lalin’s Curse, Lore Olympus, and Tower of God ive tried and found they werent for me, for various reasons and with various amounts of the comic read. of this i think i read the most of lore olympus, bc its so popular and i was trying to understand why, but its simply not for me

The Dummy’s Dummy. i keep reading it for a while, then dropping it, then picking it back up again. very tumultuous relationship with the dummy's dummy. i feel about the same for clinic of horrors but i pick it up and drop it more quickly

i havent read the little trashmaid but i wasnt particularly interested in it, tbh. i didnt really get the impression there was a lot of plot?

i dont know any of these! admittedly, i have trouble keeping up with hiveworks/non-webtoon comics, since theres no easy app to access them, but it also means ive barely read any of them.
