If you're having general anaesthetic, obviously follow all the instructions regarding not eating/drinking beforehand (I had local only) I would also stock up on painkillers in case you need them, and soft foods/drinks for the first few days post-op - avoid hot food/drinks or anything super salty because it stings like a bitch. I've been surviving on scrambled eggs and yoghurt so far. Also make sure you have some straws in the house!! Makes it way easier to drink without moving your jaw too much

Starter Guide On Where To Find The Calender Council In Game

Alright, so here i've put together a little intro guide on where to find information/interact with The Calender Council in Fallen London proper, since most of their lore and experience is scattered throughout the game

This is not a summary of these characters, rather, where people can go to experience the content and read things for themselves. I'm also not gonna mention every single little mention, this is just a starter guide.

There will be mild spoilers here, by the nature of knowing where these characters are involved

Obliatory reference to [Fate] The Calender Code, this ES has some brief overview to all CC members, and introduces the concept of most CC members being tied to a quirk.

January

January is primarily found in the Railway Questline.

In order to have her on the board and experience her inclusion, you must first recruit September, supported the liberationist tracklayers twice, and have 7 Revolutionary Favours

She can be a City Leader and has extra text in the City in Silver

(I recommend recruiting her as early on as possible to experience full text, especially before the initial Creditor plotline)

She is connected to the Discordance

February

Rival during the Cave of The Nadir Expedition

Cameos briefly in nemesis if you choose to try and reach out to revolutionary connections

Creators I love you but it's time to wake up

Among rumors about our tumblr user data being sold off to Midjourney/Generative AI, recent Extremely transphobic events (that have been ongoing) coming to a head, another extremely concerning internet censorship bill being pushed in upper levels of government, and a general air of frustration over how the site belongs to and is operated by perhaps the second stupidest CEO (second only to twitters own) of our age, I'm very done with the last few vestiges of what the old internet held for artists.

And if you're reading this, you probably are too.

I know we're tired. We are all tired. It is not always viable to pack up shop and move, again and again and again.

From tumblr to twitter to anywhere else we've ever grown up posting, things no longer work. Our audiences are kneecapped by aggressive and hostile algorithms, our reach is abysmal - if we aren't shadow-banned or silenced for one (transphobic) reason or another, we're thrust into an ever growing pit of hostility where the only thing that drives clicks is fighting and contention.

We're tired. We're so fucking tired. We aren't businesses, we aren't content mills, we cannot keep this pace that modern social media has set for us, to wring every ounce of creativity out of us to profit from and leave us rotting.

The key to staying afloat here, and I cannot stress this enough, is to stay connected to your peers.

Pack up and move as units if you must. Exodus from the sites that are killing us. Push your entire friend group of artists to move from one site to the next that promises you a kinder experience.

Art drives movements, it drives change, it is all that encompasses being human. If you take that away from the shitty places, they will be left with nothing but a cesspit of inhumanity and the people who follow you will be more incentivized than ever to move with you.

Yes, this is terrifying. There are no guarantees. There never was, and never are, and never will be.

But stay connected. Stay human.

Support each other and be willing to hold hands and jump when we all - as a group - need to jump from the flames we're all trying to convince ourselves wont kill us before rescue comes.

Rescue isn't coming, rescue will be found hand in hand with each other. I'm offering you my hand, please take it. There's always a new start, there are always helping hands reaching for you. You have to look up from the doom-scroll long enough to see and take them.

Some thoughts/advice on expanding on your own characters:

when you give them goals, remember to give them a reason, better yet, give them multiple reasons, especially with different goals

these reasons can also manifest in their personality, like for example, a character really wants to go to a certain college— why? Because they think it’ll make them look smart and clever— and they generally try to act like such, always bringing up excessive knowledge on topics, and being insecure when they don’t know stuff

To go even deeper, and if this aligns with your character’s personality/arc, then add a secret reason, a deeper truth that the character doesn’t even realize until later, so they think they’re working towards their goal because of one reason, the lie, or the shallower truth, but there’s actually a deeper meaning behind their actions and desires

well I don’t know if that was useful to you, but I hope it was, and I hope whatever you’re writing/ creating goes well, cause I’m sure you’re very talented ;)

Team "would rather die than admit something's bothering them"

So for the first good chunk of their relationship, Bad Luck and Vash were more "fucking" than "dating". Bad Luck was really apprehensive about romantic entanglements, and had been taken advantage of by a friend, in the past. (While not THE reason he was kicked out of his community, it was definitely related.)

However, Vash-- aware of Luck's hesitance but not of the reasons why-- already had a little bit of a crush on him. So when Luck stupidly offered a FWB situation, Vash accepted, thinking he could be chill about it. He quickly realized, no, he could NOT be chill about it, and spent the next few months relentlessly pining and feeling guilty and wanting to broach the subject, but never saying anything.

Eventually, Vash's crush gets revealed, and by that point Bad Luck has kinda fallen in love with him and they get together and Bad Luck insists that it's all fine, water under the bridge. Truthfully, though, he feels a little betrayed, and has this sense of "why the fuck would you think that's a good idea" towards Vash, hanging over his head. But he also thinks he has no place feeling this way because he never told Vash why he was so hesitant (and still hasn't), and also he does love Vash now anyway, so there's really no point bringing this up now and messing with the status quo, right?

And that's just the beginning of their relationship. There's a whole bunch of other plot-related problems they never talk about until after things boil over. Eventually, they'll get their acts together and talk through everything, I promise. Eventually. It just, might take until after the plot's fully resolved for them to get there.

hi, im sorry if this is a weird q, but do you have any tips for deciding whether or not to go on hrt? im trans but so, so scared

it's not weird at all! I completely understand being scared, I was scared too. I went on hrt over lockdown without telling anyone except close friends - and with the vague idea that if I hated it, I could just stop taking it and revert back to how I was before. which I still could! I don't want to, but I could return to my pre-T self pretty easily if I chose, with the only real difference being a slightly more gravelly voice.

I guess a good way to start would be to think about what you want out of it. what changes would you most look forward to? which ones are you less enthused about? picture your ideal self, the person you'd most like to be: what do they look like? it's also worth examining the source of your fear. are you scared because you think people might judge you? because it feels like a big step, a major decision? sit with your fear, try to work out where it's coming from, have a conversation with it.

asking yourself these questions will hopefully help you get a clearer idea of whether hrt is right for you. remember, it isn't a point of no return - it's just another step, and you're under no obligation to take that step until you're ready.

i answered an ask a while back on my drawing process if you’d like to apply my general tips to faces!

but when it comes to face studies + interpreting specifically, the best way i can describe my process is.. vibes? it’s why i avoid drawing characters i’m not familiar with, and why the most helpful kind of refs i can receive as a commission artist includes some indication of personality (like different expressions or a brief bio)

i mentioned in the other ask that i have poor facial recognition + visual memory, so collecting references of a variety of faces over time helps more than you know! try to go for candid shots of average ppl too, pinterest models start getting redundant at some point. i like to study actors bc, yes, even tho they’re more likely to be conventionally attractive, many of them are casted specifically bc they have a recognizable face or some kind of unique feature(s). it’s even better if you do a character from a live-action show bc they’ll look more natural in motion than the actor posing for the camera. this goes double for people-watching irl (DO NOT take photos of strangers without their consent). basically if you’re me, romanticize all the different features that exist and always take an interest in the inherent uniqueness of every individual ^__^ 👍

the smaller details also rly help liven up a face; every feature adds up. i usually start drawing based on feeling, and Then try to go into what i’ve drawn with a deliberate consciousness. study what feels right and exaggerate the traits that are more unique to This Particular Face. i tend to take notes for characters i’ll draw often bc i’ll know what Vibe i’m going for. sometimes i can tell that smth is off/missing, so i keep notes to know where to steer my eyes. having visual-only refs helps ofc, but i like giving a story to the things i draw, it builds up the bigger picture in my head

Hey, so how would I go about finding a CG?

That's a great question, but I don't know, exactly! Here's the thing, my anonymous friend, this question is not something I can give lots of one-size-fits-all advice about! I don't know your personal relationships, your age, or anything about you! However, I can give a little advice.

Everyone's journey with this is going to be different. Personally, I was lucky to find a partner who was open to the idea of being my CG, and the transition into that role happened very organically, but not everyone has that. Just like some people's CG's are their friends, and I've never had that!

How you find a CG for yourself truly depends on your circumstances. I would start by thinking about whether you can ask anyone who's currently in your life about it! I say this because you already know the people around you, and I want you to be as safe as possible. I know feeling lonely sucks. I felt the same way for a long time, and having someone be there when you regress is great, but you need to be safe, too.

And if there isn't anyone in your current personal circle you want to be your CG, I advise having a lot of caution if you look for someone online!! I'm serious!! Especially if you're a minor!! I don't want you to be afraid, but I want you to be vigilant with this.

If you go the online route, we have a great agere community here on Tumblr, and engaging with other regressors and CG's is a great place to start! This is a relationship dynamic that requires a lot of trust, and in my opinion you should have an established friendship with someone before asking them to be your CG. It should take a lot of trust to want/have someone to be responsible for you in such a vulnerable state!! Anyway, this is very long, so I'll stop here. I wish you lots of luck, friend!
