A DBS MANGA CHAPTER 102 REVIEW. KINDA...
Some stuff about chapter 102 of the DBS manga I don't really like/I want to quickly discuss. Meant to post this last month but didn't. I'm behind on a lot of things.
All those folks saying True UI is Goku's strongest form... The upcoming chapter says otherwise. Goku uses the silver haired UI form & Beerus apparently views that as Goku at his strongest. Heck, Goku calls it his best move. Good job Toyo for creating True UI (black hair) and confusing fans to believe that was stronger than Mastered UI (silver hair) when in reality True UI is simply UI Sign (black hair) that changed how UI works so it matches more closer to how the anime depicted the technique. UI Omen in the anime allowed Goku to use his emotions, but the more control he has over them, the stronger he becomes until he transforms into Mastered UI. UI Sign in the manga was depicted as Goku needing to be emotionless & stated that emotions hinder the power. This was from the ToP Saga all the way until Toyotaro "created" True UI to function off of controlled emotions like how the DBS anime always has & gave it Omen the name "True Ultra Instinct." [Link to a long post that I paraphrased, so you ain't gotta read it unless you're really interested.]
Tumblr media
I get tired of the same expressions in this Super Hero Saga. Its a pouty or surprised face accompanied with an oval shaped mouth. Toyotaro is overusing the hell out of that. Here's a compilation & I left out like 4 other panels with this same expression. (There's more in CH 103)
Tumblr media
I saw ppl talking about the poses when Goku & Gohan fight look cool.... Looks pretty stiff imo. At least from what I've seen. Lacks a feel of movement. And you don't even see most of the fight. It doesn't make it cool imo. We've seen MUI in action against powerful opponents. If MUI Goku & Beast Gohan are close to equal strength, why not show actual combat between the two other than the aftermath of clashes? There was more attention to choreography with Gohan vs Trunks & Goten than there is with Gohan vs Goku. (Chapter 103 does better with the combat for Goku vs Gohan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toyotaro doing the "this form is called such & such" is weird for me. Seems like he's trying to hype up Western fans or something. Like when Goten & Trunks name Gohan's potential unleashed form "Ultimate." Its just dialogue for the sake of some sort of fanservice. Some ppl will like it, others wont. I just wasn't a fan of it. Feels like its placed here just for fanservice. If they called it ultimate & didn't draw too much attention to it, I would've prefered that. Its naming it but not stopping the narrative flow.
Tumblr media
Also wasn't a fan of Goku asking Gohan is his new power was SSJ2 or SSJ3. Goku knows dang well Gohan's Potential Unleashed form is far stronger than SSJ2 & was stronger than SSJ3. He should've just asked "So, what's this form of yours?" and leave it there.
Tumblr media
Some Vegeta fans are calling him a proud uncle when he smiles at Gohan & Goku about to spar. No, he is a Saiyan who is ready to see a good fight just as Broly smiled when he watched Goku & Vegeta fight. Is there some pride there? Yes. But Vegeta ain't no uncle figure to Gohan. That's Piccolo & Krillin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why are Carmine & Soldier 15 there on Beerus' planet? Goku could have just had his sons & Trunks put a hand on his shoulder then teleported. And why would Gohan see Carmine & 15 who shot at his home & at him, turn Beast out of anger, then hop into the same vehicle as them as if he forgot what happened in the last chapter? It was literally a few seconds ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was just for them to record Goten & Trunks in their costumes (can they even keep up with how fast they are moving?) And it just seems like a plot device that won't matter at all. Anyone remember 7-3 in the Granolah Saga?was there for a moment & served no purpose other than a reference. I bet this with Carmine is for a simple joke to be quickly thrown aside.

Palestine and the Crisis of Democracy
While right now the main attention should rightfully be on the immediate victims of this ongoing catastrophe, this incident has also exposed how much the power of lobbying groups & corporate interests has eroded western democracies.
At this point they’re not meaningfully different from China or Russia aside from being wealthier. What have China or Russia done that the USA isn’t allowing its client state to do right now?
We’re supposed to have free speech? Where is our free speech now, if being anti war can cost you your job & the media is owned by the corporations.
At this point ppl in the global south are 100% justified to distrust the western bloc as much as we distrust China or Russia.
We’re approaching a 1984-ish situation of 3 identical superpowers ravaging contested territories in endless proxy wars.
That said, it’s tempting to go ranting about „the evil west“ or „the whites“ or curse all israelis – and don’t get me wrong, the west as an institution has proven its moral bankrupcy and IDF as an organization with a culture of fomenting this needs to be dismantled & abolished even more badly then ICE or the USA police.
But when you look at the people on the ground, not politicians or media, but at the individual human people, that’s not really the case: We’re seeing record protest turnouts everywhere.
Politicians are being swarmed with protest mails. (I just sent some myself)
Even in the USA, two thirds of the population want a ceasefire. Heck, even in israel, 62% want a ceasefire.
And there’s no telling how much of the rest genuinely want this vs. Being misled or confused by propaganda. Don’t get me wrong: Those people making mocking tiktoks are evil and I’d love to see them roasted on a skewer, but they are NOT the majority and acting like they are is bad tactics.
So what does this mismatch tell us?
We don’t have functioning democracies right now.
Maybe some South Americans do, maybe Belgium and Spain and Ireland, but the rest of us?
Not so much.
We gotta fix that, not just for our sake, but for what it does to the rest of the world.
Whoever’s in charge isn’t us, and its a dreadful mixture of incompetence and evil.
It’s not that all people, not even all western people, are terrible and evil. It’s that right now, in both the USA and even Germany with it’s 6 mainstream parties, there’s no viable candidate you can vote for that will not support this madness.
Nobody really benefits from this, or wants this, but a small coalition of fascists, the military industrial complex, a few crooked politicians, and a bunch of opportunistic hatecrimers of antisemitic, islamophobic and/or arabophobic persuasions.
This is what happens when problems that are pointed out time & time again don’t get fixed: Like the longstanding human rights abuses in Israel (that were known aout for SO LONG!), the existence of veto powers deadlocking the UN, legalized bribery & first-past-the-post system in the USA, USA hegemonic control of europe…
It was a perfect storm of every long-standing flaw in the system coming together to create a perfect storm of horror.
- but the first ones to sin are usually the last ones to bleed and the ones who pay the bulk of the price are, as ever so often, those who were already the most oppressed.
So what do we do?
Vote small party, maybe, for europeans. Vote in primaries to get the bought-out mainstream candidates out, if youre in the US.
Protest, complaining and combatting misinformation is gonna be an important tool while our democracies are compromised, we can’t rely on voting alone.
If us talking didn’t help they wouldn’t try to shut us up.
Messaging wise, on this issue, we might stress being anti-war. They’re trying a different smear because mocking anti-war ppl as bleeding-heart hippys doesn’t work anymore.
They can’t say being anti-war is antisemitic.
It’s important, of course, that (unlike the hippys) we don’t slip into wishy-washyness here or peace at any price that just basically the oppressed shutting up. Just peace or no peace. Lasting Peace of no Peace.
But peace has an appeal to most people, even those inclined to be wishy-washy or apolitical.
I think selling them on Lasting Peace and Just Peace might work better than shaming them for not being hardliner enough.
It’s super cynical and fucked up that we’re even having to THINK about „marketing“ when people are dying, but we need to convince people, especially since the usefulness of our votes is currently compromised.
Even a king must yield if there’s a mob with pitchforks outside the door.

Going off on a tangent (I’m lowkey obsessed with your blog so now I’m going to yell my thoughts at you)
I get so disappointed at the lack of any lore drops between Naruto’s heritages like obviously the uzamaki’s were exploited and basically had a like genocide (Karin’s backstory had me so fucked) and maybe it’s to show how normal it is in shinobi society to just brush anything under the rug when it comes to genocides and systemic issues which duh but I wish I could’ve seen more nuanced stuff like diaspora between the few survivors of lost clans, how they survived or heck how they try to preserve their culture.
Idk maybe I’m not making any sense but as someone who has like no ties to my origins (AA, especially growing up to ppl denying AA culture and how AA culture gets sold) I wished I saw that kind of relatability in Naruto since he himself is basically separated from his culture and didn’t even know who his parents were I feel like that could lead to some like deeper stuff. I feel like Naruto would try to preserve his cultures and clans (he does in way ig in boruto but I barely seen that anime and that’s a whole other discussion with how clans are treated)
And in a way I guess it’s the most realistic part of Naruto like yea the ppl in charge might give a nod in acknowledgement of how they were bystanders and that the system failed ppl (if they even go as far as to accept that) it’s just to make the ppl they exploit/ed shut up and be happy that they were even seen in the first place (working class, blm, Palestine, Native Americans etc)
But god do I wish Naruto dived into the isolation of the lack of culture or even the lack of your own ppl can have.
first of all thank you for your support and engagement, it gives joy. feel free to yell at me whenever, i have a naruto so im used to it.
this is also something that used to upset me and now just frustrates me. i technically wasnt the last uchiha until after the war, but itachi and i couldnt communicate, madara cut ties with the clan, and just like me obito left the village as a child. one of the worst things about the genocide was this crushing anxiety of "what will become of our history?" i was old enough to have pride in the concept of "uchiha" but too young to have a meaningful understanding of it. and i guess deep down thats what contributed to my steady depersonalization and increasing franticness-- i knew there was really nothing i could do to preserve my clan so at least i needed to preserve their honour (and this was also why i understand itachi's reasons for not sharing the truth).
all this to say, my heart breaks for naruto because he doesnt even know what he doesnt know. and like you said, thats mostly a function of how konoha chose to operate. i still dont understand why they couldnt at least tell naruto about his mom. i dont understand why jiraiya didnt come back to teach him sealing. but i do know why and its because the shinobi system works best if you dont see yourself as an individual first. everything you are and have needs to belong to the state, and if it doesnt, then they will eliminate it. konoha took advantage of the genocide in uzushio to essentially traffic their women and then say there was "friendship" between the two villages...then do nothing to preserve the uzumaki or uzushio history. disgusting.
youre making sense. ive actually thought that naruto's case is similar to children from asia who were trafficked and brought to western countries post-war, completely removed from their culture and often neglected and abused for a culture they couldnt even own. i think the uchiha are a bit similar to african americans given the systematic lack of consideration for contributions to the development of society, the war between respectability/assimilation and self-determination/anti-discrimination, and like you said the commodification and demonization of culture. and i do agree with you about naruto, but i think it also helps him sometimes. for better or for worse hes...simple. he doesnt think too much about things he doesnt know, and that helps him get through his days with less of a load. he does have his bad days, where hes...lost, but if he were any other way he wouldnt be naruto. luckily the boruto versions of us arent real, but even then i think they make sense given what they were trying to accomplish with that show (ie. dumb down everything for the Manly Men who didnt get what was happening the first time).
when i was traveling after the war i did try to do some preliminary investigation into existing uzumaki refugees and diaspora, but it was a bit difficult though due to their history. ive been thinking about putting together an extended campaign and mission for us to reunify the uzumaki, for his birthday. i just need to figure out how best to go about it. keep it a secret between us.

You don't have to be rude. I'll be rude for you.
Puberty blockers aren't going to magically grow you a penis or vagina. They aren't going to magically make all your problems disappear. Sorry. They just aren't.
Growing up I haven't met a single teenager who actually likes their body. The majority had eating disorders or self h*rmed and this was even before trans identities were even hugely known about. There is no guarantee you will be happy once you are your 'ideal self'. Once again, look at those with eating disorders. I just need to be a size smaller and I'll be happy. I'm now a size smaller. I'm still not happy. I know, I just need to be a size smaller... rinse repeat.
There are people out there who are born knowing they have a genetic condition that will put them in an early grave as their bodies break down, losing the function to move or talk or breathe. There are people out there who are sold into slavery, children who are carers for their parents or younger siblings. There are people who need life saving medicine who can't afford it.
You can wear a binder, dress in clothes that make you feel comfortable. You will not die without puberty blockers. You will not die without surgery. If you are suicidal because life isn't giving you what you want when there is literally nothing wrong with you besides 'I don't want to look like this', that isn't what's killing you. Your body is healthy. Your mind is what's killing you. You are in a fortunate position that you have the ability to dress how you want and present how you want. A few ppl not validating you on the Internet or a couple weird stares on the street is the majority of what you'll get.
There are ppl in other countries who are being sent to camps for their religion. There are people in other countries being executed for loving the same sex. You are lucky to have a choice. And don't even think about saying well my parents won't let me, society will attack me - society attacks everyone. A minority of ppl may respond to you with violence but that's not unique to you. Bad ppl will attack anyone - girls on trains wearing hijabs having it pulled off their head. Gay couples attacked and killed. Heck, my MALE friend went out for a meal with colleagues and some random guy on the street just decided to walk up to him whilst they were in the que to get in and punched him in the face for no reason. He broke his jaw and had to get major surgery just because this guy thought it'd be funny to hit him.
'But as I'm a teenager I have no choice.' As an adult you WILL be able to eventually transition. You WILL eventually have that choice. Just because you can't do it NOW you're getting all bent out of shape. 'But I can't afford surgery.' Ppl who have cancer can't afford the surgery that'll SAVE THEIR LIFE. Amputees can't afford the prosthetic leg that'll give them the best movement and have to make do with a standard issue prosthetic that causes them extreme pain.
Get some perspective there are ppl out there who will NEVER have a choice.
Yes exactly this.
It's truly sad is that some of them aren't suicidal but they are being told they need to be in order to get puberty blockers, the trans community is filled with people that will casually talk about suicide. Having teenagers and children in communication with them while they are not mentally equipped to handle these sorts of conversations yet is dangerous and can make them spiral.
They are being taught to hate their bodies and those that are uncomfortable with puberty simply want to escape it by opting out of sex based oppression
Thank you Nymous.

I guess, but considering how much the writers did him dirty? the losses he garnered pop out more than his wins.
But yanno... in hindsight? As much as Kei-chan DID get played a lot throughout the series, at least he did get as much character development as Ace (regardless of what Yuya later say that some of the things Ace talked about his past may not always be completely true, which may cancel any chara development Ace had). Like Kei-chan's not just THE secondary character but he's also the secondary main character. Kei-chan had a lot of GROWTH. Which says a lot about the REST of the series' characters BESIDES Ace and Keiwa.
Like... how much character development arc that Michi ACTUALLY had? Like as much as he had that base setting of Tohru's death being the trigger to his wanting to gain power to destroy Kamen Riders, we don't really get much from that aside when Knight Jyamato taking Tohru's face and whenever Michi needed someone to hit some sense to him THEN you see Tohru appear.
The whole JGP arc only had him being shoved around leading the Jyamato pack sabotaging stuff and being angry at being lied to and fighting Ace. And then being an instrument to murder during Heaven and Hell round and feeling no remorse about sacrificing all those people during that round and I gonna stress this: As much as the show never really mention anyone other than Ace and Keiwa being missing for a week without any explanation, WE HAVE NO CONFIRMATION whether or not the 'npcs' that got turned to bubble was restored back to life... or not. ESPECIALLY since we're talking about the JYAMATO GP and not a normal DGP. Is Beroba the type of person to really follow the DGP's usual policy about the npcs? Wouldn't the extra sacrifices be a good addition to nourish the garden? Considering how the arc kept hinting how it would be 'bad' for the championship season to be concluded with the crowning of a new Jameity instead of the usual Desaity, the aftermath of the JGP win felt lacklustre despite the whole dystopia vibe. Like I thought post-JGP the world would be overrun by the Jyamato.
On top of this... does anything about the JGP and DR really have any impact in Michi's life cos I din see any. Like we DON'T REALLY see what made Michi change his mind from his shitty attitude to saving ppl mentality. can you even call that chara development?
The series never really got to explore all the possible plot holes regarding the Jyama Garden and the part about 'not all of the npcs are revived' plot. (Isn't the JGP supposed to be a game to allow the Jyamato get THEIR happy ending? It's certainly SHOULDN'T be about giving a happy ending to Michi.) I mean, was the Sakurai couple the ONLY exception? Or was there a lot more undocumented missing people that was NOT the DGP players that we never be aware of? Esp since Kurama corp was subtly doing all of the cover ups. Heck, we end up not getting much sponsor related plot. Like what was Win's Grandpa's function as a sponsor? Niram hinted that they were bigwigs... BUT WE NEVER GET TO KNOW!
That said? Did Michi get ANY proper growth of character at all? I mean, not counting the whole "Why can't I do it like you?" shit he said when he supposedly died. Or the magical "im a good guy now" instant cure without a proper lead up. (Dude din even answer Ace's question properly on whether or not they would save a player if a Jyamato try to kill them. PLAYER not the civillians. Series never resolve the issue of misplaced hate on the players in general and u expect me to trust his stance during the DR?) Cos considering how snob he was prior to that, that whole dumb line that sorta hint that actually Michi was Ace's secret fanboy was DUMB. Esp since afterwards that guy reset back his personality after supposedly finding out the 'truth' that Beroba told him.
Also i have TONS of questions for the guy's plot. Did he ever found out who was it that stole all of Tohru's items and left them to die? We KNOW it was THREE players, but we were never shown WHO. Did he even get his revenge on Tohru's death? I don't count his 'win' to be that. Because in the end, Michi NEVER punished those three or took revenge on them on the same LEVEL as how Keiwa hunted him and Daichi. Michi was just given 'Oh, Tohru really died in this game so Knight wasn't really Tohru revived. Lalala let's 'trust' ACE to fix the world plot while Michi adds unnecessary casualty while putting all the blame on Keiwa for 'ruining' the world.
I feel bad for Moku-chan for actually getting the short straw. Like Neon's overal plot wasn't all too good either but at least her story had some direction. Michi's plot was going NOWHERE. That wish for eating good meat was the best joke 😃 Even Daichi got a better redemption, which Kanato don't even get.
I'd add more if I want but nah... I rather invest in simping the Azuzu 😂😂😂😂 I mean MichiDai ship on the sidelines cos they'd make a good couple XD

I hate when people disregard mental disabilities that dont stop you from doing things physically, i have a type of Dyslexia called dysgraphia, this is when basically i can not focus on more than one thing at a time, for example, in highschool I couldn’t write notes and focus on what the teacher was saying at the same time, i would have to wait until the teacher was done talking before i could write all the notes down, i still struggle with this in college as well. Now last night At work i got literally screamed at for messing up a woman’s order, she had ordered over the phone and wanted to pick it up. Now we have a computer where we just select the options as the costumer tell us what they would like. Now i’m not using my Dysgraphia as an excuse, believe me i can still function like everyone else but taking orders over the fun has ALWAYS been a challenge. And i would have told my boss that but i felt like i was making up an excuse and honestly when people use their ADHD and other things to get out of stuff it annoys the heck out of me, i still own up to my mistakes, i just wish that people will realize that just because it doesn’t affect me on the outside doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect me on the inside- 🌈 anon
hey rainbow anon :)
that's a shame you have dysgraphia. i can only imagine how annoying that can be at times, especially in a job environment.
that being said, it wouldn't be an excuse if you said "i can't do this bc i have dysgraphia", just like it's not an excuse when ppl with adhd can't focus. it's an explanation to why you don't have it the same as others, that this is what makes you different and thus the "normal" way of going about things isn't the way you can do it. it's not an excuse bc at the end of the day, that's just how your brain works. nothing is gonna change that. it means ppl should make accommodations for you so that you can succeed at the same level as your peers, or coworkers. or at the VERY LEAST be respectful towards you.
and even ppl with adhd have good and bad days. i'm assuming the same can be said for you.
i'm sorry that you got screamed at. that shouldn't have happened, regardless of your circumstances. fuck the person that yelled at you.

TIL It’s Okay To Bully People If They’re A Different Religion Than You
…ugh…
So Erin posted a photo of her cute little dog.
You know where this is going.
I knew where it was going.
Let’s go :(
Tumblr media
Erin posts this photo of her tiny dog to celebrate the anniversary of adopting him.
Clearly this was a direct attack against TeamE83Liz/UnlovedHeartie and meant to ruin her night.
Someone asks what Liz means by “blanks”. I wasn’t able to archive it, but apparently one person explained what Liz meant and pointed to her Instagram page where she keeps calling Erin, Ben, Kevin, Kayla and Erin’s dog dehumanizing things and another person told Liz the way she acts isn’t okay and she needs to step away from the Internet and calm down. Liz either deleted her comment or so many people reported it that it was deleted.
Tumblr media
Liz takes to her Instagram to post this.
…no one is perfect. How does a person function in society when the idea that other people have lives and values different than their own makes them lash out like this?
Tumblr media
Liz’s first comment on Erin’s dog photo is taken down, so this is the new one she put up. Because walking away from the computer and leaving people alone to live their happy lives is never an option.
“I care about Erin, that’s why I call her a whore and tell her how disgusting I think she is and how much I hate seeing her friends and dehumanize her boyfriend. STOP BEING MEAN TO ME 💔💔💔”.
Tumblr media
“Ppl are allowed to say whatever the heck they want!!” She says without a hint of irony.
Indeed they are. That’s why I’m here.
“IT IS NOT BULLYING FOR NOT LIKING THAT SHE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN”
…okay first, that is actually what you’re doing. And it’s disgusting. Secondly, has Erin even said she wasn’t Christian? Or is this just another case of Liz creating a theory in her head and convincing herself it must be true and chimping out at anyone who tries to talk sense into her.

ugh haha so this was something that crossed my mind the other day after i saw someone say something incredibly funny about SUF. i would love to throw the quote in here but i don’t talk to that person so you know, would probs be weird lmao.
anyway the point is... you know. i like shep, shep is fine. i would really like to be able to say shep is one of the many charas from SU that i love. like i too am non binery lmao but like. shep really doesnt function as meaningful or positive representation for me.
i always have like a frickin’ tome of thoughts swirling around in my head over any given SU subject but you know, one, i suck at putting things into words and two, im a lazy fuckhead so! don’t ever expect well written analysis from me that makes my points clear and difficult to refute bc i am simply not interested. who am i talking to here? that’s right, myself. moving on.
the point is, truly, that shep deserved so much more lmao. like not necessarily bc of who shep is, bc who the heck is that even, we barely spent any time with them at all... but just bc like, yea i really would have liked to see a Black non binary character (who is voiced by a Black non binary person in real life, the wonderful Indya Moore, who like, i had been a fan of their modeling for some time before finding out they got a VA spot on SU) get like... some real spotlight. im sure other ppl have made this point or they’ve at least thought to themselves like, wow shep was really just... a device. a prop. :/ and that reeeally does not sit well with me at all for about a bajillion reasons.
what i would want for shep and for any character like them, for any trans character, and for any chara on SU (my fave show ever like hello? the show where i love almost every single chara???)... is for them to be a whole person that i actually get to know. like i have a better sense of who mr. fryman is than i do shep you know what im saying lmao. i want better for shep! i love sadie, i adooooore sadie SO much, i want sadie to be happy. but when i see how SUF handled shep’s introduction and subsequent... what... like 5 mins total of screen time lmao... i wanted shep to be more than just a living symbol of sadie’s growth (since that’s what the crew apparently expects me to take away from... all that lmaoooo).
i have some loose drabble drafts where shep’s been a character and it’d be a dream to do them justice. but dang i practically gotta invent like... every single aspect of them lmao. bc “hot peacemaker” is like... not enough lmao! not by a long shot.

Undiagnosed autistic adult realising it was autism all along
Tumblr media
I'm getting my official diagnosis next month, but I have been doing therapy for the last year and every session it's a new realisation that it was autism my whole life.
My therapist raise the possibility of an autism and ADHD diagnose in June and ever since I have been doing lots and lots of research about it, so let's talk about masking (aka the greatest enemy of neurodivergent ppl)
I already realized that I've learned how to mask very young, but in my session today we were talking about my parents situation and perception of me, and like my parents are divorced (they have been since I was 3) and my father always hated that I (in his opinion) am very much like my mom, I wouldn't say that is true today but at least when I was a child I was a lot like her.
And I thought it was because I grew up with her, so I just Imitate her, and to me that supposed to be normal, like doesn't everyone copy their favourite parent?. Then I said that to my therapist and she was like "Well, are you like your mum?" And I said that when I was a child I was very much alike her because I was just copying her responses and ways to act.
Then my therapist looks to me and says "You were using here as a mirror, as your mask" and hits me. I used my mom for masking because I didn't had any friends and she was the person that I was closest to .
I grew up listening that I acted too much as an adult and it's because I was copying one!
It got me thinking and throughout my life I always copy adults to mask, which made me look very mature and responsible until I had a mental breakdown over the exhaustion of masking 24/7 and now I'm almost 20 and people say that I'm too childish because I can't mask the way I used to anymore and they are realising my issues with the world and functioning in general.
Every time I think something is just a quirky thing of mine or something normal everyone does I learn that it's just the autism running my neurodivergent ass.
I know I just think about how the heck people missed? The signs were so there!

Fruits Basket’s Treatment of Abusers:
Fruits Basket is a story that focuses on the abused children more than their abusers. The abusers are only used to explain the trauma & tragic character of those children as a means of writing their growth. It has a message to the viewers of victory against the painful past & living again. While the message of moving on from one’s harsh past is hopeful, it will fall flat if no attention is giving towards the falling status of abusers. You can’t just cleanse yourself of the past without looking at who caused the scars. This post will explore furuba’s treatment of the abusers:
1. Yuki’s mom: (the abuser who was allowed to function in tiny doses~)
Yuki;s mom is a woman of beauty & lust for status & money. She abused her son by neglecting him & turning a blind eye towards his abuse. Without her agreement, yuki wouldn’t have been abused by akito at all. Yuki stood up to her & gently but firmly refused her control over him. Hence, yuki became free. Furuba treated this abuser by giving her a slight room of co-existence in yuki’s life. She was shown shocked at his growth, silent & deciding not to stop him, she was allowed to perform shallow motherly activities. Giving permission on certain things & saying: take care. She isn't completely involved in yuki’s future life but she doesn't need to. She thinks raised a successful boy, even if his success isnt how she pictured, but none the less, his success is part of her as it satisfied her lust for status. Yuki allowed her to co-exist in peace.
2. Akito: ( the abuser with atonement)~
Akito is the abuser that will be allowed to atone & get redemption. Why? cuz akito is not a parent, but a child abused herself. The author uses akito to say, hey~ even if you were a bully, or a bad person, you can still change. Powerful message that does not alienate those who were once in the wrong side of the road. You can stop abusing ppl & ask for forgiveness. ( I have issues with how akito’s change was done but that’s for my eps review, it doesn't contradict that I’m here for the it is not too late to stop wronging ppl & change for the netter message. I love that).
3. Isuzu’s parents: ( the abusers who got away~ )
Physically & emotionally abused their daughter. However, since they weren’t given faces or names, they wont be part of Isuzu’s journey after she’s taken by Kagura’s mom. Isuzu’s next abuse is done by akito. The writer only used them to write isuzu’s initial story & ditched them. Also, since there’re two of them, it cancels writing any confrontation possibility from a writing perspective. They out-number isuzu. Moreover, isuzu’s own role in furuba is a combination of her romantic love with haru & her friendship with tohru. So, Isuzu can have the past behind her if she focused on these two alone. She was shown healing in kazuma’s house with her two fave ppl visiting her: haru & tohru.
4. Akito’s mom: ( the abuser who was mentally unstable~)
Kureno introduced her as a woman who’s mentally unstable, she was easily manipulated by shigure, she held a knife & was allowed to stay in the sohma estate. She abused akito by not loving her & constantly challenging her. She is portrayed as this pathetic mentally & emotionally ill person. A grown woman attached to an empty box is no normal woman. Her demeanor & the way she walks & dressed invites pity just like shigure said. She’s allowed to be as she is, cuz she’s ill in the head. Perhaps punishing her in anyway, might invited unwanted attention of treating mentally ill ppl. So, I dont think anything bad or good will happen to her.
5. Kyo’s biological dad: ( the abuser who MUST be stopped).
Kyo’s bio dad is furuba’s poster picture for abuse. Kyo can be the cat zodiac or have a true form , it wouldn't have destroyed him if his dad didn't actively accuse him of murder. Kyo’s mom is shown as this broken woman who tried & tried to love her son & do her best, but was scared, tried & alone. Ultimately her decision to kill herself in front of her son ruined him, but if the father took another stance than accusing a 4 year old, things would have been different with kyo. I firmly believe that kazuma’s character was created so kyo wont go kill yuki & kill himself as he said he would in his mom’s funeral after his dad’s accusation. Kazuma’s love is powerful but couldn't erase the scars that this dad engraved in his son. Kyo’s dad is the only furuba’s character that is drawn with so much ugliness & hate all the time. Despicable attitude, wide eyes, small pupils, freaky grin, explosive emotions. He is the only parent that is shown with strength & power in all his scenes. Even in front of kazuma, he stood & shouted unafraid of him, uncaring of what he might think, I want “ it” locked till death. Refusing to even humanizing a child. The most despicable man! In kyo’s flashback, kyo’s mom was broken in tears, kyo’s dad wasnt shown fully, but his fists were clenched & he was standing up instead of bending & hugging her. Heck, momiji’s dad loved his son & wife & sought out to preserve both as much as he can. Erase the mom’s memory & exist in his son’s life from time to time, not the best solution but he tried! he really tried! kyo’s dad just wanted DEATH.
I’m an anime only, I duno what will happen next. but I’ve never hated a character as much as this guy. He represents all the disgusting abuser parents! those who drink & hit, those who suck the life out of their kids, those breath hate! I want furuba to win for all those children with such parents & stop this man! you can’t just brush him off. I dont want kyo to hit him, no more blood in kyo’s hands. I want him to be so small/weak & powerless in front of kyo. To watch as kyo becomes free from his toxic grasp on his life! To listen as kyo tell him off!
All furuba’s lovely messages & powerful stories will crumble down if not a single filthy abuser is stopped & cancelled. The story calls for. No, it demands it. Make kyo’s dad the abuser who is stopped! Show me the face of abuse defeated & helpless. I’ll ask for nothing more.

17 and one of my own! what do you look for in a writing partner?
RP HABITS.
since i already answered 17, i'll just dive right into your question! tbh, i have a number of factors i consider when following somebody.
is their theme accessible? someone who prioritizes aesthetics over function is not really someone i want to write with, because those folks tend to overly stylize their writing as well, and it becomes incredibly difficult for me to read. someone who takes care to have a layout that is still aesthetically pleasing, or even plain as heck, but ultimately is accessible is someone i will stop to look at.
do they have all their pages up? i make exceptions sometimes, but it is critical for there to be a rules page for me to be able to read over (i'm not guessing your boundaries ok) and an about page so i understand their character. even canons need about pages, and i do not like it when ppl just link their wiki. everyone has their own unique take, and i'm not a mind reader about how you write your character.
do they have a clean writing style, and don't overly stylize it? if you are beating your thesaurus to death, and making it difficult TO read, all for the sake of looking aesthetic-ly, we aren't going to be a match. i don't get the point of taking up writing as a hobby if you're going to make it into a thing of ensuring you have the prettiest words without also ensuring they are accessible to your potentially disabled followers and actually make sense in execution (too many times i have seen words that did Not Mean That used simply for the sake of looking 'poetic'.)
you gotta be an adult. i just do not want to follow kids. that's it. i'm turning 25 in october and need ppl to be at least 18 before i can consider it, but even that is becoming rather young in my mind.
most of all, i have to like your character, whether i know what canon they're from or not, and i have to like your vibe. i'm not afraid of dropping people the moment they don't click with me, because this is a hobby at the end of the day, and i'm not gonna put up with anything that is going to leave me with additional stress on top of my regular life.

Dumb question: I'm INFJ and started speaking to someone who I now suspect has a crush on me. We knew each other as interns many years ago, clicked super but I was seeing someone else... and he had a crush on me at the time. Years of no speaking. And I got in touch with him again in mid-Feb (not noticing it was V-Day) and we spoke a bit, clicking. After a few weeks, he sent me a song which I now retrospectively see was a hint that he fancied me. Fast-forward, in mid-April I told him I fancied him a bit but need space (past relationship ghosts) but would be eager to befriend him more. He asked me if I'm ok ofc but I chickened out from answering. It's practically May and I wondering if I'll ever have a shot with him? Or maybe I wrecked it all? I think he's INFJ and I suck at reading ppl's romantic vibing with me... and I'm almost 30! Also, we live in different countries thanks to covid. Insights are SUPER appreciated.
Aaah hello- infj here and I can imagine writing a similar ask. I think if I wrote this I think would pretty much predict the answer I’m going to get beforehand. So perhaps you’ll have predicted this.
intj’s main blocks of writing are in italics, though she’s also helpfully edited mine a little >< My writing now sometimes sounds like her voice in my head- very strange stuff. We hope you like the length and detail! Hopefully, it doesn’t get boring/confusing/long.
The short answer? GO FOR IT! The only thing at risk here is your friendship dynamic, cause worst-case scenario going for it would mean giving up being friends for the chance of something even greater than that (but in all honesty one could argue a chance like that is worth a hell of a lot) . And hey if they really are a good friend, i would expect them to still stick by you regardless of the awkwardness/disagreement in any situation so all in all yeah just GO FOR IT.
Oh, and in terms of bad timing concerns , a few months (from him sending the song) and a few weeks (from you telling him you liked him) is honestly not as much time as you think! Especially as you suspect as he had a crush on you from years before too, these types of feelings don’t tend to be that fickle.
If you feel that you want a relationship with him now, you should tell him, however difficult. And if you still feel like you need more space, and just want to be friends, take the space! And if you just need a little more time, tell him how much, just make sure to take his feelings into account to and any way will end up just fine. Just to be clear - you definitely haven’t wrecked it at all. It’s damn hard to be clear with other people about what you want, heck sometimes it’s hard to be clear yourself about what you want, but trying matters. Trying matters.
In terms of sucking at reading others’ romantic vibing- I’ll suspect that as an infj you’re more likely to not notice their romantic vibing than falsely think it was there. Still, as intj said, you may be scared of losing your friendship. I hope that your confession of feelings hasn’t disturbed your friendship- but if it hasn’t, that’s a pretty good sign for open communication and if it has, then you don’t have much more to lose! But whatever you decide, it’s important to weigh up how much you value your friendship with how much you want a romantic relationship with him. And considering he did in fact have a crush on you before , your situation would be understandable to him so perhaps you really wouldn’t be risking all that anyway…
Finally, long-distance. I don’t really know how far away your respective countries are, but I hope that whatever you decide, that your relationship mitigates the challenge! If you feel a romantic relationship with the distance between you is feasible- then that shouldn’t be something stopping you. But, of course, do make sure that you (both!) want the relationship despite the distance, otherwise, either the distance or the relationship will have to go somehow. But it’s okay not to be sure about all that just yet , maybe its best to just try and test the waters first - time can make decisions like these become a lot easier and then you’ll really know what you would be willing to give up (or not give up). Just speak the truth and feel free to go with the flow , your heart will be able to navigate you to shore.
So yeah …, FOLLOW YOUR HEART! And you know- make logical decisions (intj can’t stress this point enough). Be brave (it’s underrated in these situations) and try and be honest. Life’s too short for regrets like these. Whatever you decide to do, I hope your friendship is doing well right now, and will thrive even more in the future! Keep us updated and good luck <3
(P.S Quick note about same-type pairings. I doubt you’re both infjs, though of course still totally possible. Perhaps he’s an infp (easily confusible?). Two people of the same type have the same cognitive functions and so don’t really click as you said you two did (that being said its not like its i m p o s s i b l e for two of the same type to click so its cool if he’s an infj too :) . So, if you haven’t heard about functions, look them up! They’re very cool and at the heart of mbti. And of course, if you have any questions about this, please do ask)

Talked to my old therapist yesterday and it helped confirmed that I really probably should correct a misunderstanding with current therapist. Even though I explained to current therapist that I have low to no empathy and run off of a set of beliefs and rules for morals, and we even talked through a situation where low empathy got in the way, she chose to try and put empathy on me. I explained that it was a bit awkward between my prop manager and I bc shes acting like I helped her for her sake when really I did it for the homeless that tend to walk the back street and she'd be likely to hit. She said "you showed a lot of empathy for those homeless people". At the time I just left it bc I had other things to get to. But in reality no. I didnt. I spent 10 minutes deliberating if this was in my current set of morals and at a proper risk level for me to do anything before I decided to assist bc I figured if I slack off on my morals ill eventually just stop adhering. My old therapist described it as a logical process versus an emotional one. She thinks I should explain this to current therapist even though she's only temporary bc it seems there is a fundamental misunderstanding to how I function. She's probably right. I just dont want to bc it really annoys me when ppl constantly try to insist I feel things I dont. I dont get why I have to explain the exact inner workings of my mind as opposed to people just taking my word or heck psych history. Its not like I decided I had low empathy. Psych people noted it before I even knew what it was. I also just talked with her about how my casemanager does this all the time so timing will be hella awkward. I probably will address it to save from getting into future conflict. I know low empathy doesn't make me bad or anything but it really feels like going "lol remember last time? Well I'm actually a shittier person than that"

Hi! Same anon as the previous one. Tbh, I agree wholeheartedly with you. Y'see I do ask rhetorically, too but i could really accept and understand how and why ppl can be oblivious to IchiRuki, and somehow felt that the 'canon' should suffice, even the most excruciating of all is the fact a number found the ending even acceptable (ships aside, too). Again, I could respect that. But it's my greatest bane when ppl ask 'why' and not be clear they are asking rhetorically because I literally will
provide you an actual answer. And I get it, it’s the reason why ppl find shipping wars toxic and silly. But then again, as human, conflicts are always part of us (partly because as social psych explains so, we are gravitated to the negative for that allows us to change and survive), and the reason why “logical fallacies” are coined in the first place. Human will always debate, and argue about something; the only thing we could change is how we approach the opposing views.
Again, I dont condone any way, shape or form of abuse and harm. In some certain extent, I could perhaps understand it’s much harder for some IH to approach the actual argument being there’s either too much noise, and trapped in their own island between sea of salt. Thus becoming too acquianted w/ few IH who shared the same thought until it became their views as the only truth (see, that’s why its important to have debates! it is what keep us grounded and fair! Just like you said)
Who am I to speak though? I never ever challenged anyone anyways. And as you said, you just have to understand things in every way you could possibly think of–endless ‘whys’. Which is where I agree in your reply the most–this silly fandom wars is just the black mirror to every truth that lies beneath human psyche–the dark and the grimy. Heck, being a psych major is like staring at dark hole–at times, good, but most just plain confusing, revolting even or just heartbreaking.
Sorry it’s been long, but for the final of this ask: let me tell how glad I was with IchiRuki fandom I found in tumblr. It was the saltiest I’ve ever been (im not generally a fandom person anyways) but it’s the himalayan salt–expensive and actually nutritive it really deepened my desire to become wiser in general. And you for your wonderful essays, critiques and whatnot. I definitively would love to talk with you more not only about IchiRuki but the wonders and nightmare that us humans! Kudos!
I have sitting in my drafts a post spelling out my thoughts on “canon” (and thus, the people who cling to it) in that as a concept it privileges:
officiality over quality when it comes to validity (thus violating Sturgeon’s law)
corporations (intellectual property rights holders) over fans, and thus capitalists over proletarians
hierarchical dominance over mutualist networking within fandom
curative fandom over transformative fandom
genre over literary content
plot over characters
events over emotions
It is notable that (1) generally degrades art as a whole, (2) generally advances the capitalist agenda, and (3–7) generally advances the dominance of men over women (as the genders tend to be instructed by society to view these as A. dichotomies rather than spectrums, and B. to ascribe gender to them and make them polarities). These form the sides of a mutually reinforcing power structure (in the typical “Iron Triangle” fashion) designed to preserve and maintain the status quo.
Who really benefits from say, the policing of what is or is not “canon” in Star Wars? Disney, first and foremost. And then whomever (almost certainly male) decides to dedicate their time to memorizing the minutiae of whatever that corporation has decided is “legitimate.”
One can imagine a universe in which fan fic is recognized by companies for what it is: free advertising. (Much like fan art already is.) Instead, it is specifically targeted by demonetization efforts in a way that fan art isn’t. Why? Because it demonstrates that corporate control and “official” sanction has no bearing on quality, and it is thus viewed as undermining the official products.
In the same way, by demonstrating that most “canonical” works are frankly shit, it undermines the investiture of fans in focusing on details that are ultimately errata (the events, the plot, the genre), which is the core function of curative fandom and the reason for its hierarchical structure. The people who “know the most” are at the top, but what they “know” is basically useless garbage. And those people so-engaged are, of course, usually male.
To “destroy” the basis of their credibility, and indeed the very purpose of their community, is naturally viewed by them as an attack.
(This is not to say that efforts to tear down internal consistency within established cultural properties are good unto themselves, or even desirable. For example, efforts to redefine properties such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Ghostbusters, for the sake of a identity-politics agenda have largely A. failed as art, B. failed as entertainment, C. failed to attract the supposedly intended audience, and D. failed to advance the agenda in question. Trying to repurpose extant media in the name of culture wars is essentially always doomed to failure unless it is done deftly and gradually.)
(At the same time, this also shows what I was talking about last time, with regard to people seeing whatever they want to see. You will see people complain that Star Trek and Doctor Who didn’t “used to be so political,” which is obviously nonsense. These shows were always political. What changed was how their politics were presented. For example, Star Trek has, since TNG, always shown a nominally socialist or outright communist future, but was beloved by plenty of conservatives because they could [somehow] ignore that aspect of it.)
Of course, almost no one is seriously suggesting that one side of the spectrums outlined above be destroyed, rather merely that a new balance be struck upon the spectrum. But, as we have seen time and again in society, any threat to the status quo, whether that be 20% of Hugo Awards going to non-white male authors or the top income tax rate in America being increased by a measly 5.3% (from 28.7% to 34%… when the all-time high was 94% and for over 50 years it was above 50%) is a threat. This is why, for example, Republicans are out there branding AOC as a “socialist” when her policies are really no different at all from a 1960 Democrat who believed in FDR’s New Deal. (Which they, of course, have also demonized as “socialism.”)
(As an aside, all this ignores the fact that most of the “literary canon” of Western civilization, or at least English literature… is Biblical or historical fan fic.)
And this is when I finally get to my point.
Those people out there who denigrate and mock shippers and shipping, the people who hurl “it reads like fan fiction” as an insult, and so on, are the people who benefit from and enjoy the extant power structure. You will see the same thing with self-identified “gamers” complaining about “fake girl gamers.” Admitting that the hobby has a lot of women in it, and a lot of “casuals,” and is indeed increasingly dominated by “non-traditional demographics” is an affront to the constructed identity of being a “gamer.” They are “losing control.” And they don’t like it.
This exact same sort of population is what the “fanbase” of Bleach has been largely reduced down to through a slow boiling off of any actual quality. Of course they’re dismissive of people who are looking for anything of substance: their identity, their “personal relationship” with the franchise, is founded on a superficial appreciation of it: things happening, flashy attacks, eye-catching character designs, fights, etc.
(What this really boils down to, at heart, is that society at large has generally told men that emotions are bad, romance and relationships of all kinds are gross, and that thinking and reflecting on things is stupid. So of course they not only don’t care about such things, but actively sneer at them as “girly” or “feminine,” which is again defined by society at large as strictly inferior. And this gender divide and misogyny is of course promulgated and reinforced by the powers that be, the capitalists, to facilitate class divisions just like say racism generally is.)
(The latest trick of these corporate overlords has been the weaponization of “woke” culture to continue to play the people off one another all the time. “If you don’t like this [poorly written, dimensionless Mary Sue] Strong Female Character, then you are a racist misogynist!” They are always only ever playing both sides for profit, not advancing an actual ideological position. It is worth noting that there was a push by IH some years ago to define IR as “anti-feminist” for critiquing Orihime for essentially the exact same reasons [admittedly, not for profit, but still as critical cover].)
Which makes it very curious, therefore, that the most ardent IH supporters tend to be women. (Though there are more than a few men, they seem to tend to support it because it is “canon” and to attack it is to attack “canon” and thus trigger all of the above, rather than out of any real investment.) I think there are a number of reasons for this (which I have detailed before) and at any rate it is not particularly surprising; 53% of white women voted for Trump, after all.
What we are really seeing in fandom, are again the exact same dynamics that we see at larger and larger scales, for the exact same reasons. The stakes are smaller, but the perception of the power struggle is exactly the same.
Of course, the people who are involved in these things rarely think to interrogate themselves as to the true dimensions and root causes of their motivations. People rarely do that in general.
Putting all that aside, I’m glad that you have found a place you enjoy and feel comfortable, and thank you for the kind words, although I am not of the opinion that there is anything poignant about the non-fiction I write. It is, as I keep trying to emphasize, all there to be seen. One just has to open their eyes. So, it’s hard for me to accept appreciation of it.
Anyway, don’t feel shy about coming off of anon rather than continuing to send asks. We don’t really bite.
