Tips and classes for Drawing and painting!

Hi!

The other day I saw a comment on Tumblr from someone who was just starting out in drawing and was using AI to help study their drawings. I decided to put together some resources that I know can help artists study and use as a reference without feeding this algorithm that is being so harmful to so many people in the artistic field.

Feel free to add more in the comments and reblogs!!!

Note: Some YouTube channels and profiles mentioned here I don't follow for so long or/and I didn't have time to analyze the content posted in full, but they were recommended by other people. Some channels/profiles are on these lists because of these recommendations or because they were useful with a post/video/tutorial at some point in my life. If there is any controversial/questionable conduct, I make it clear that I didn't know before posting! (We never know, right? hehehe)

LET'S GO:

1. You and your environment:

That's right, YOU. Your person and what you have available at home can be great references! Photos of family or friends, your pet, everyday objects that you barely pay attention to, the landscape around your house (even if it is not considered the most beautiful landscape or if it is just a wall), your food, the forgotten plant in the pot, your shoes, your clothes, your own body! They are physical objects, in YOUR hand, where you can rotate, position, arrange as you wish, and as a bonus you can do light studies on them with your cell phone's flashlight or natural daylight.

2. Follow your favorite artists and styles you like:

By following profiles of artists you like on social media, you can study their drawings, to understand how they do what they do, and, little by little, develop your art with your personality based on the styles you like!

Just be careful not to plagiarize! There's a difference in taking art from your artists to study, and keeping it for yourself and posting copies of other people's art or copying someone else's design! Study, understand and end up developing yours! DO NOT base your studies purely on the arts of others, but complement with them!

3. Follow photographers:

Photographer profiles are a treasure for anyone who likes to draw! There are photographers who capture images of people, animals, plants, landscapes, cities, etc. There are several categories! And different styles! Black and white, evidence in the shadows, play of colors and perspectives! It can be a fun exercise!

4. Follow model profiles:

Templates also provide good references. Today there is great variability in model profiles (if you know how to look well), and it can be a good exercise to design clothes and accessories on people! Study of fabric, movement, makeup and pigments in skin, hair, pose, among others

5. Media:

You can pause and take a screenshot of scenes you like from series, films, documentaries, cartoons, anime, or even take a panel from your favorite comic and draw it in your style, or study that image and try to copy it before applying in your style!

6. Pinterest:

The classic of classics! Great for references, using PHOTOS, of REAL people, animals, objects and landscapes. In addition, there are also several posts with drawing and painting tips, and even several mechanisms about various objects and elements, which can allow you to better understand the dynamics of what makes up your drawing, making your drawing, design and painting easier! There are even ready-made folders shared by other artists with several images, but you can make your own, in your own way! Mine have more than 60.000 pins!

It is a free program that allows you to model characters. You can customize and position the avatars however you see fit. You can even work with light incidence. You can also set up scenarios.

The free program already comes with some basic elements and on the website you can download more elements to compose your scene, such as other avatars, animals, objects, clothes, textures, among many others. However, it should be noted that some of these elements are paid. But the free basic elements already help A LOT in reference position, proportion, anatomy, scenery and study of light and shadow

11. Sketchfab:

It is a website that has several 3D elements generated by other artists. It has a free basic plan, with certain limitations, but it helps a lot when photos and other drawings are not enough for the pose you want!

12. PixelSquid:

It offers 3D models that can be useful for reference.

13. Floorplanner:

Allows you to create 2D and 3D house plans with a free account. This can help you with references to compose the scenario!

14.Dimensions:

It allows the notion of the dimension of different objects and figures.

15. Comparing Heights:

Website that allows you to compare heights between two figures

16. SculptGL:

Free basic 3D sculpting tool

17.Textures.com:

It has 3D molds and textures. There are free options in its gallery

18. Justsketch.me:

It has a free version with basic human models to create positions for reference. They are somewhat reminiscent of the articulated dolls used in the past.

19. Reference Angle:

Offers photographs of people that match the position of a 3D mold. You can select facial expressions

20. Photo reference X 3D model:

It gives you some 3D molds of human and animal skeletons and correlates the position you leave with photos

21.Bodies in motion:

Provides several stop motions of people moving. There is free and paid content

22. Sketchdaily:

A website that offers several reference photos for drawing, with different poses. You can select whether you want photos of structures, vegetation, animals, body parts, people and other specifications. One cool thing about this website is that you can choose to set a timer for the image, allowing you to leave it exposed for you to draw for 30 seconds to 1 hour (or not, you can choose to leave it without a timer).

23. Line-of-action:

It has an interface that is very similar to Sketchdaily, but the maximum time for displaying an image is 10 minutes. It has the categories of human figures, animals, hands & feet, faces & expressions and scenes & environment and basic shapes & still life.

Site with several posed photos. However, there is paid content.

WIP WHENEVER (and in my case — forever)

Decided to pile up the things I've been working on lately to guilt-trip my brain into working harder, heheh Digital Art | 3D | VP

Can't wrap my head around the fact that Phantom Liberty got me by the throat so hard that I got over my fear of painting people. Even the character studies done so far were a huge step out of the comfort zone, yet here I am. I thought it is high time to remember the good ol' times and go for a full-rendered illustration (feat. So Mi again, but she is just so nice to paint!). I still feel a bit heavy-handed after my >1 year hiatus, but I'm getting back to my senses. Also cooking some more character studies, currently trying to draw Jago, because holy shit this man serves every angle (also eyelashes, also eye color, also everything). // 3D As I got curious about modding too, I decided to start with clothing since there are more tutorials about this type of mods and they sufficiently cover how to work with Wolvenkit and mod implementation overall. I didn't want to pick up anything too difficult for the first thing; something just enough to recall sculpting, texturing and vertex tinkering. My friend suggested to roughly reference Beyoncé's look from I'm That Girl video, so the plan is dress + shoes + sunglasses. Right now working on weight painting for the dress, then I'm onto higher-detailed mesh for normals and textures, but that's gotta be easy.

Also plan on doing some extra props for photos, but I haven't yet learned how to implement it into the game and AMM, so this one is for later.

ok so, i made a lil dolly of ms frizzle and now all i can think about is making lil dollies of winnie, mary, and sarah and i am going nuts over it

i think the three of them would love the fact that i wanna make lil dolls of them, especially winnie. like, theyve never had anyone do that to them, so the thought of me trying out something ive never done before just so i can always have them with me would make all three of them melt faster than honey in hot tea

i'd have to ask mary and winnie how the fuck they do their hair like that cuz idk how to draw it, let alone recreate it with yarn shhdhdj. oh! and i'd have to ask sarah if she has any tips for making the clothes cuz i dont really know how to make clothes in general, let alone doll clothes

ik the dolls are gonna look really skrunkly and messy, but i think they'd be super proud of me for trying something new, and over the moon that i chose the three of them to be my muses for it.

I think Mary would be climbing walls (metaphorically) too ngl. I believe she's an arts and crafts girly (not as much as Sarah though but definitely does some clothes and such too!) so she would find it especially cute.

I believe I can help with the hair and clothes!!!

Winifred's hair is pretty much the same as Queen Elizabeth I, and this tutorial is pretty easy to follow! Definitely not historically accurate in the techniques but it's the same shape lol. Basically her hair is just two big buns!

Mary's hair however... I can't by the life of myself figure out how her hair works (my hypothesis is that her hair is twisted into shape... Kind of.) apart from her having one tiny braid going along the whole hat shape of her hair.

All the tutorials I've seen for her hair have in common using wires and some sort of cilinder to shape her hair tho!!! This is one of the easiest ones I've seen. (Btw it's crazy to me how this lady has her exact vibe)

Now for the clothes you can check Salvador Perez's Instagram account! (He's the costume designer from the second movie) But if you don't want to scroll too much it's okay I gotcha! Here you have:

• Sarah's sleeves (they're sewn in on the corset!)

• Sarah's corset (you don't have to embroider anything, I think it's better if you use markers instead)

• Winnie's top gown + accessories (basically her full gown is two pieces: the top one, which is the deeper green one, and the under one, which is the one with purple and a lighter green)

• Mary's full outfit + details (this one's just a general idea)

• Mary's corset + sparkles (once again, more of a general idea)

• The Sister's shoes + thighs + undergarments (looove love Winnie's boots ngl)

Making sewing patterns is basically like making puzzle pieces and putting them together, so getting the shapes shouldn't be too complicated! In any case, if you need help with that I can help you out! (Unfortunately I'm no taylor but I'll do my best). You can also look up tutorials for specific things like skirts! (They're actually one of the easiest things to make!)

I totally want some kind of gameplay element like Chants of Sennar in Tripoke.

Like, you see a sign:

It's yours to do with as you please. You can ignore it. That's fine.

OR

You can collect the symbols and contexts and figure out what they say and mean.

Up to you.

And if you figure them out correctly they're clues to other things to go and do. Which you might stumble on anyway. And figuring them out wrong might lead you to other places to experience other things.

The real STRUCTURAL heart of what I want to with Tripoke is to not have a MetaPLOT but to have a MetaLOCATION.

The idea is a shifting hexcrawl, for lack of a better term. There's a Huge world with lots of STUFF in it, and the PCs don't know how big the world is and how much stuff is there or how it works. They go to a location (again, hex for lack of a better word, even though I'm not actually using a hex map) for one reason or another and simply deal with what's there. They can map it out or not, again, doesn't matter. They can interact with it or not (though the stuff in each hex may have its own ideas and forcibly interact with them).

That's my exception I'm making for the "starting" hex. You have to start here for the "tutorial" (read: the GM is still figuring all this out, too, so let's start where it is safe and easy to fail AND easy to just get back on board) level stuff. These people in this hex are relatively low level and actively seeking people to help them move from one hex to another because they need to do so. Once everyone knows what they're doing well enough, I'll be loosey goosey on where to start characters from, as well. If someone says, "Hey, I was really interested in Hex 183 back there but didn't feel it was appropriate, can I have a character going there for some reason?" "Sure, we'll follow that up. Who's the character? Why are they going there? And when you've got their scores, I'd like you to deal a hand for me."

The big "In Character" secret, which I'm just giving up in my attempt to turn my preconceptions and narratives on their head for my own mental health, is that the hexes shift (again, for lack of better terminology). While you might take a route through a canyon in Hex 5 (arbitrary #, like I said, I'm not actually using hexes at the moment, I might change my mind later if needs demand it) on your way from the desperately impoverished Faurgwerner (Shoemaker/Cobbler/Sutter - Faur -foot - Gwen - to, clothe -> Faurgwen - shoe - r(Final consonant)er - possessor of the state of being of the rest of the word >_< because I'm dumb and obsessive and it's Hesswarner and not German, which MUST be totes different >_< someone stop me, please, it's a different world and literally nobody but me cares AND even I won't care in an hour >_< I do not need to make my Cowboys & Dinosaurs Weird West RPG have lingusitic merit at all)

The world in the game and the characters that inhabit it have not figured out that the Long Wild (what I intend to be the majority of the game's setting) does this. It is the missing explanation for how untamable the vast plains are and what happened to all the people that there seems to be plenty of signs lived there.

And it's intentionally meant to be a complicated enough mechanic inside the fiction that me simply rolling / drawing / randomizing the results will do for game purposes. If the player wants their character to figure out the pattern. They can have the CHARACTER figure it out and treat it like a normal skill thing. The CHARACTER can say, "Eureka, I've got it! If we observe [Technical Nonsense that the CHARACTER understands but we don't] and cross reference it with [Technical Nonsense that the CHARACTER understands but we don't] then we can calculate via [Technical Nonsense that the CHARACTER understands but we don't] that [Feature the CHARACTER is trying to anticipate] will appear at [Time/location to appropriately match the CHARACTER's needs which is necessary for them to know but we'll just make it happen because the details don't actually matter to us, just what happens when we get there]." And the scientist NPC character will nod in approved amazement. "By the stars and mountains, you're right! It's [Technical Nonsense that the CHARACTER understands but we don't] but how did you ever figure it out? That would take [Some amazing Character Merit you paid points for, described from the in world point of view]!" "Lucky, for us, I was up to the task. Hurry, we've barely enough time, allowing for inevitable inconveniences, to make it before [Time they care about but we don't]."

Because, again, I don't want metaplot. I want the plot to simply be whatever emerges. Just quests available to be found and engaged with or not, more or less at desire.

I just think it would be neat to have some kind of simple puzzle solving mechanic quest (find this nonsense and its meaning) the other way where character's can get clues on how to try and make certain shifts occur at their own will.

Essentially, giving a mini-game way to explain why the monster's dungeon is right next to town. Who would build next to a monster dungeon?? No one. But if the PCs can learn to shift the land right outside of town into the dungeon they want to raid (and hopefully then back again) then the proximity is suddenly explicable. The dungeon is there because the PCs put it there magically. The PCs learned this bit of magic and can summon this bit of area and interact with it. It also opens up the tactical advantage of trying to shift areas as a solution to difficulties.

If the PCs happen to learn of a hex full of water and learn how to summon that hex to where they are. Not necessarily useful most of the time but if they then end up in a hex full of fire elementals, they suddenly have a viable tactical advantage against the fire elementals WITHOUT actually engaging in combat with the elementals if they can figure out how to survive being dropped in the middle of a lake also.

Technically, I wouldn't even need to make a real language or anything. Not even real symbols. I could do the exact same thing as the dialogue. You see a rune, make a check, ok, you are now able to deduce that this is the rune that will summon that hex with a lake in it.

The advantages of giving the players the ability to fiddle in a puzzle way with the runes is that it caps the speed of advancement to what we can actually follow and it allows the players to come up with a combination that I haven't even remotely thought of or prepared for. And things can be fun when they go off the rails.

And I need to stop talking about and prepping for this game and actually just F*ing Play. Oy!!

THIS!!! I HAD LOTS OF MEDS AND PROFESSIONALS FOR YEARS AND I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD EVER BE BETTER! BUT I'M BETTER NOW!

I started with watching cooking videos and trying it out. Just easy cheap meals. At first even those weren't good but I keep trying! I became a vegetarian and discovered that you just need to know how to prepare vegetables and now I like nearly all of them! Also try making smoothies with frozen food & honey (bonus: add some frozen spinach in your smoothies. You won't taste it!)

I take walks listening to music or podcasts! Sometimes i call my friend or mom to talk while I walk. I try to look around and discover precious little things! I saw swans nest the last time I went out.

Also. I always told myself I was a night owl/more productive at night. Thats not true. Go to bed at a set time EVERY night. And don't try to sleep till late afternoon! I usually try to wake up at 10 am and go to bed at midnight!

I take a self care bath once a week but shower during the week! It makes me feel better!

If your body hurts or you feel tired after waking up. I recommend 10-20 min yoga tutorial you can do in the morning to wake up! Your body will stop hurting.

I also discovered going on runs. I'm not good at them and at first I felt like dying but I kept going and now I started to enjoy them!

Try to find things you can do in your city. Go on a walk discovering & learning about herbs. Go to a museum. Do some pottery painting. Ask your friends to go with you! They also want to do things!

If you are home, don't just scroll. I try to find hobbies i can do with my hands! Stitching, crocheing, sewing, drawing, painting, writing etc. You can find a lot of things for those at dollar stores. They wont be high quality but you can try them out and see if you like them! If you're not sure how to start, there are a ton of youtube tutorials for free!

Start telling your friends & family you love them. At first it will feel awkward. But they appreciate it & will start saying it back!

Don't be discouraged if something doesnt work out at first! (I hurt my feet running in bad shoes when i started going on runs. It hurt. They healed and I restarted after I did research. I wasn't very good at crocheing but I kept going and now I don't need patterns anymore! Etc.)

It gets better. Even if you don't want to live rn or you don't think anyone will miss you. They will! You will find friends and love and joy! It will get better :)

Tips for Witchcraft in the Dorm

If you're in a situation where you have a roommate that may not be open to your craft, you're in the broom closet and being in college makes it even harder to practice, you're starting your witch journey while in college, you couldn't take a full sized altar to school, or you're like me and attend a private Christian college (ugh) that makes you feel the need to be discreet, this post is for you!

If you have an altar: Find a way to downsize your altar. For some this isn't a huge thing, but I'm the kind of gal that liked to go all out with my space. The best way to do it is to find a box or container that can be moved easily and has all your essentials, and only take what can fit. If you can't fit certain tools, it's best to find substitutions. A small bowl that can hold water will work just as well as a crystal ball. Putting herbs in bags will allow more room than jars.

Alternative to candle magic: I know the urge to put tape over that fire alarm is real but I'm unfortunately a goody two shoes. Luckily wax burners exist and you can get all the fun of candle magic minus the flame. I like to draw sigils into my wax before melting it for spellwork; and you can get all sorts of different colored wax. If you need unscented wax, you can buy white wax and dye it.

Some discreet types of magic to look into:

Tea. Tea. Tea. I cannot stress how useful tea magic is. There's loads of information about it right here on Tumblr! Most dorms allow ectric teapots and tea is easy to store.

Knot magic. Here's a great post about it. Absolutely any kind of spell can be done with a knot and it's super easy to implement into everyday activities.

Moon magic. Guys, the moon is awesome. Work with it. Moon water is a great manifestation tool and corresponding anything with the moon phases is an instant boost. It's also free and super easy.

Sigils. Really fun to learn and really easy to draw in a couple journals, on a foggy window, in your tea as you stir it, or on your skin. I recommend Pinterest if you're trying to find tutorials.

Runes. I like to cast physical runes but there's lots of ways to use these in everyday magic. Each symbol has their own meaning and there's an abundance of information on them. Similar to sigils, I like to draw them on things.

Extra tips:

Learn the correspondences for each day of the week. Doing little things for each day will keep you connected to your craft as you get through college.

Anything can be a chalice. Cleanse that cup and you're good to go.

Astrology is your friend.

I'm here for you. College is hard. Dorming can be a pain too.

King of forehead kisses, and not even just because of his height in comparison to yours; he just likes it. He likes the feeling of pressing his lips against your skin, and making you feel safe.

Brings you tea or coffee however you like it every day without fail. If he can get it to you in the morning before work/school then he’ll do that, if not he’ll meet you some time in the middle of the day to drop it off. Your own personal courier just for drinks.

He… has a thing for long(er) nails. He loves the feeling of them against his skin, even if you’re not scratching to apply pressure—just you holding his hand them grazing his skin is enough for him.

That being said, he will pay for you to get your nails done. Actually, he’ll pay for… almost anything you want, but the nails benefit him as much as they do you so feel free to ball out.

He never blowdries his hair because he doesn’t... know how to do the back of it. You did it for him once and he hasn’t stopped thinking about it since, but he’s also too embarrassed to ask you to do/style it again.

On the subject of hair, he does do his best to style it and take care of it, but he’s a sucker whenever you play with it. Sometimes he feigns like you’re messing up all his hard work, but he’ll literally crane his head into your touch. He loves it. 

The first time he lays on top of you and you run your hands through his hair... top 10 most euphoric moments of his life. He tries to fight off the sleep threatening to take over him, but it’s futile. Give it 15 minutes at most before he’s knocked out like a baby. 

Dogs love him. Anytime you’re in a park or just taking a walk and there’s a dog around, it’ll come up to him and he looks adorable leaning down to pet it. He loves dogs, too! So he’s always happy to stop and pet them. He’d be a 10/10 dog dad. 

Has your name saved in his phone with two hearts at the end. Do not point it out.

Loves taking pictures together and if you guys are on a date, he’ll ask someone to get a picture for him. He just likes having them to look back on (and to send to his mom, later).

He doesn’t mind painting classes or videos or tutorials, but he hates paint by numbers kits. He claims that they have no sense of color theory and that it takes the originality and fun out of painting. Not to mention the quality of the paints isn’t great to begin with; all of which he takes very seriously.

It’s pretty cute actually, to see him get worked up over the paint kits. He claims that painting and drawing isn’t even something he takes “that seriously,” it’s just a hobby for him (one he’s insanely good at); but in moments like these, you can tell that he’s way more into art and art theory and history than he lets on. 

Huge movie guy, from animated movies to martial arts movies, Jean is usually willingly to give anything a watch at least once. When he’s high, he can go on about his favorite directors and art styles and movie details for hours if you don’t stop him. It’s super cute. Just don’t bring up Moana, because he’ll start crying. 

Arm around the shoulder kind of boyfriend for sure. It’s a casual way of keeping you near him and letting everyone know that you guys are together. Plus it allows for him to easily pull you into him for a quick forehead kiss when needed.

Listen. If you hug his arm, he’s on cloud nine. He tries to be nonchalant about it but he’s about three seconds away from his eyes rolling back in his head it feels that good to him. Bonus if you lean your head on his bicep a little—then he’s a goner.

He takes his bagels very seriously and believes that both you and him deserve nothing but the best quality bagels. He’ll grumble if a bakery gives you guys a less than favorable one and make a note that taking the long route to get to his favorite place is much more worth it.

Always makes you walk on the side furthest from the cars. If he notices you’re not, he’ll just shuffle behind you until he’s shouldering the street and you’re on the inside. 

He grew up on a kind of modern ranch situation; not exactly all the way in the countryside, but not isolate from the city, either. Because of this, he knows how to ride horses, take care of smaller farm animals, tend to plants, and yes he knows how to use a lasso. You wouldn’t know any of that though, because he never ever talks about it. The only way you find out is when he takes you to visit his mom’s house for the first time, and she asks him for a hand around the place. 

(He’s got a cowboy hat, too, but refuses to put it on. He got it when he was, like, nine, okay, leave him alone). 

When he thinks you look tired, he’ll wrap his arms around your shoulders to hug you. It’s usually followed up with a kiss to your head, and a promise that you guys will go home soon and get food on the way. 

He’s a really good cook. He just understands and flavors and pairings really well, so he doesn’t need a recipe to make something that tastes good; he just kind of knows what to add to get the balance he’s looking for. 

Naturally, he’ll cook for you. Especially if he finds out that you haven’t eaten all day/in a long time. He doesn’t care if it’s 11pm and it might seem excessive to make steak and potatoes with a side salad at this hour, he’s gonna do it to make sure you eat, and you are going to sit there and watch. 

He also bakes pretty well, though he isn’t as experimental with his baking as he is with his cooking. He usually sticks to what he knows, and it’s not cupcakes and brownies and cakes; he’s better at croissants, and cheesecakes, and canelés. 

Dating Jean means getting along with his friends. If you guys didn’t know each other before you started dating, be prepared to be ambushed by Connie and Sasha (after Jean stops hiding you away and gives them the green light lmfao). Neither of them waste time with the small talk and formalities; straight into mini golfing and beer pong. They make you feel welcome right away.

Sasha always teases that you’re too good for Jean, and that she might just steal you away for herself some day. Sasha is also Jean’s main confidant, so she really knows just how much he loves you, and yeah, she teases him for being lovesick, but really she’s happy for Jean. And proud of him for facing his feelings like this. 

Connie adores you, and you know he trusts you when he starts going to you for advice/help. Could be anything from schoolwork, to what color he should get his new shoes in. He’s also the one who, surprisingly, you have the sentimental talks with about your relationship with Jean. It’s easy to overlook, but Connie loves Jean, and he’s come to love you too; he just wants you both to be happy, so he’s there to listen when you need it. 

Jean waits outside of your classroom after you’ve had a test or presentation, usually with a drink or a snack, or the promise of taking you out as a treat. Always tells you he’s proud of you, and is there to comfort you if you think you didn’t do too well. 

He does not shut up about whatever major you’re in. It could be the same as his; it could be the complete opposite as his. He thinks it’s so sick that you’re doing it, you make it look cooler, you make it look better, and he’s certain you’re the smartest person in your program. 

He’s pretty serious about his studies, too, so he’s always down to study with you in the library whenever you’re both free. More often than not, he shows up after you, usually with food or extra chargers. He greets you with a kiss on the forehead, and asks you how you are while massaging your shoulders gently. If it’s been a while since you took a break, that’s the first item on the list, after that, he gets to work and stays with you until you’re ready to go, even if he doesn’t have as much work to do. 

He always sits across from you. This goes for when you’re in the library, or out to eat at a restaurant; Jean loves sitting across from you. He gets to see your face the best that way, and he adores looking into your eyes when you talk. 

He’s not... not a morning person. He’s not up at 6am ready to grind, but he wakes up before noon; let’s say 10am is his happy medium. That being said, if you wake up before him, regardless of the time, there’s a 9/10 chance he’ll lay on your back and tell you to hush so you guys can sleep for 10 more minutes. 

If you’re (close) friends with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, Jean is... happy you’ve got people to rely on, but, “Of all people on the planet, you put your trust in Jaeger?” He acts so bitter (because he is), but deep down inside, he’s glad you have Eren to rely on if you need to. 

(Also, you have to humble him and remind him that he and Eren aren’t all that different. If you like him, why wouldn’t you get along with Eren, bye). 

Turns out though, that it’s not Eren who threatens to beat him up if he breaks your heart. It’s not even Mikasa, although, her threat goes without saying; it’s Armin he’s terrified of.

The last time Armin hated someone, it was this guy in your program, who happened to share a few mutual classes with him, too. Jean never knew the full story, just that he’s pretty sure that kid dropped out the following semester. 

If you have a job on campus, Jean usually doesn’t show up while you’re working (knowing how embarrassed he would be if you did that to him), unless you work the night shift and it’s dead. Connie, however, does show up; usually in some kind of crisis (“Please help me, I don’t know what the fuck APA formatting is and this is due tonight, please, please, please!!”). Your coworkers actually thought Connie was your boyfriend for a minute. That’s when Jean starts showing up more lmfao.

He makes it a point to go on a scheduled, night out, kind of date at least twice a month. He knows life gets busy with school and work and midterms, but he always makes sure you both set side a time to take a well-deserved break and be with each other. 

He’s the romantic type, so these dates are pretty swoon worthy, too. Drive-in movies, nice dinners, classy art exhibits, Jean plans it all. On that note, he really likes planning dates; he just doesn’t like talking about them with his friends beforehand. 

All in all, very romantic, very precious boyfriend. He’s always thinking about you, what you need, and how he can help you out. You’re one of his main priorities, and he just wants to treat you right.

esen is the leader of the three-person party of her, dayn and florian after they split from their original parties, since they worked best together. she helps to document heartless behavior and how to fight them and gives that info to the rest of the vulpes union. she's curious to a fault and often gets distracted trying to research new heartless while literally in the middle of fighting them. lives in the lighthouse and sails keykids to the island. sometimes sells her drawings at florian's fruit and veg shop.

chip used to be a very shy kid, until he went on his pokemon journey and learned to come out of his shell. he became a gym leader in the starting town because he knows how scary starting a journey can be and wants to support new trainers. he is the definition of a handholdy tutorial, like if you dont bring a flying type before his battle he'll ask if you want to catch one, before being told off by his sister cassidy for being too coddling and starting the battle anyway. as a surprise he's also the champion of the region, excited to see how you've grown over your journey and fighting you full force.

cassidy is one of the lead developers for tms in the entire world. she's the one who gives you access to the tm crafting service and often appears to check on your progress and give you new tms. since she makes tms she researches pokemon moves; she's the fifth gym leader, part of her gym gimmick is that her pokemon all know torment, to force challengers to show her a variety of moves (and also stop flamethrower spammers she's so sick of this)

kalin is a ballet dancer, inspired by tales of meloetta and the red shoes it lost that fae heard as a kid. fae's mischievous, faer entire gym is designed to scare people. challengers are not told who the gym leader is or what they look like. doors lock behind you and you have to find hiding klefki to pass, a seemingly headless trainer chases you (turns out to be a disguised theatrigus, one of my fakemon), and at the very end theres a hall of portraits of the so far unnamed gym leader dating back to up to 100 years ago, however they seem to not age in any of them. the first pokemon kalin sends in is actually a zoroark to tip the player off that illusions were used to make the gym scarier. after beating the gym, kalin reveals that the gym has been passed down in faer family for years, all to keep the joke going and make it seem like the gym leader is immortal, a real faerie. kalin tells you faer real name and makes you promise not to reveal the gym's secrets. also yes i made a fairy gym leader just to give faer fae/faer pronouns the joke was too easy

not as much to lichen as the others haha. works at reid's coffee shop (another oc i have to fix the ref for but not as much motivation for xem as these other ones), sometimes runs a little arts and crafts event for kids in the shop. loves halloween and horror, outfit always has some kind of bat motif on it. might look scary but is genuinely sweet.

Put Some Clothes On!

But how? Winged humanoids sure do have some big limbs to work around when it comes to clothing.

I'm using my oc Morianten and my new tutorial oc Teo as models for this. Because clothes are more fun to draw on someone with a face instead of a blank mannequin lol.

Winged humanoids with feathery bird-like wings do have space between the wings and tail where you can add a belt. The basic structure is a halter top that fastens behind the neck and then again at the waist, with a big open space between so the wings are unobstructed. This would be put on at the neck first and then fastened at the waist. A belt can be added to attach a skirt or pants, which would be stepped into and pulled up to the base of the tail. Or the whole outfit can be a dress or jumpsuit that would be stepped into and then fastened at the waist and neck. Sleeves can be added, but they would require some specialization to stay up properly when they can’t attach to anything behind the arm.

Winged humanoids with bat-like wings do not have space for a belt, so their clothing is a little more shapeless. Think of a halter top jumpsuit or dress with an open back all the way down to the butt. It would be stepped into, pulled to the base of the tail, and then fastened at the neck. Just like the previous example, sleeves can be added but need a little extra specialization to stay up.

Since they can’t just throw on a normal shirt, staying warm in cold weather does require some unique solutions. For the feathery wings, honestly their back feathers might be good enough. But if it’s not good enough, a panel that fastens to the back of the neck and the back of the waist should help. And it might require some help to put on. For the bat wings, there is no waist to attach things to, so a cape attached at the neck with enough weights in the hem to keep it in place will have to do.

Hoods would be pretty easy to add to a halter top for winged people, it’s just a normal hood that might have to open in the back a little to go over the head and neck properly. Both types of winged people should be able to wear things like gloves and shoes perfectly fine, though if like me you are giving your winged people non-human feet you might have a trickier time giving them shoes.

I don’t think putting a wing cover over a feathery wing is a good idea, as it would disrupt the feathers and make flying extremely difficult. But maybe you could find a way to get a wing cover over the membranous wing. Maybe. It would be really tricky to get it to work right and be fitted properly to allow for flight. But if you want to do it, go for it, it’s fantasy bat people.

It is so much fun to take the basic clothing structures and see just how much you can push them, so go wild! Even the simple outfits can be spiffed up with fun colors and patterns. And just because the outfits kind of require a halter top for the sake of the wings doesn't mean you can only do one style of clothing. You can make it masculine, feminine, androgynous, colorful, fancy, casual, etc

Clothing also helps display culture! So if you're trying to worldbuild with winged people and you’re stuck on culture stuff, think about how their specific needs regarding clothing might have developed and been affected by their lifestyles or changed their lifestyles. Bat people can’t wear belts because they have no waist gap between the wings and tail, so maybe they developed clothing with lots of pockets. Maybe your feathery humanoids are very bird like in their behavior so they wear very shiny and colorful outfits with lots of frill! The possibilities are endless.

i’m not sure if you’re one to give art advice so you don’t have to respond but how do you do clothing folds? i’m always told to do certain shapes/strokes but every time i do it, it seems off

oh gosh so... it's one of those things where general tutorials help you identify what you're looking at but there's nothing quite like looking at a reference alongside that knowledge! some fabrics and clothing types fall in very particular ways and observing those patterns in pictures or irl can help with basics.

i find it so hard to explain my process aaa, im super keen to write an explanation and follow up on it when i can draw more examples, but i tried my best!

so the big big things to keep in mind are

1) the 3D shape your draping things over. this is a big part of making folds work with you - regardless of how detailed the folds you want to draw are. what angle are you looking at that shape from? this can change the most important folds.

lil example - again i referenced this one - the arm pushes back (slightly) and then forwards. the folds ive shown mostly wrap around - which show the angle that the cylinders are at. HOWEVER you can also show a fold going "towards" the "camera" to help creat the illusion of overlapping "shape"

i circled the one i mean (this is a redraw of a screenshot for reference) it follows the angle of the cylinder but also goes slightly "back" to show the arm is extended towards us!

2) a lot of the tiny folds aren't super important unless you're pushing realism or the fabric is particularly bunched up! it's very much a learnt skill to pick out what the "shape defining" folds are

what folds are important for shape?

the edges can be important if you want extra detail, but the most important parts to capture are a) where does the arm change direction and b) where does the ends of the tube of the sleeve end

3) considering a variety of references, what's common for the type of clothing you're looking at? how does it typically work? how does this change with tightness/looseness? suit trousers are a fantastic example

a lot of suit trousers have a certain tightness to them that makes a "pinch" on top of the knee as well as underneath, particularly when sitting! depending on how tight the trousers are, the "front" of the leg may sag over the shoes when sitting, or poke outwards! here's an example i drew from a reference

also a massive thing that's obvious from suit trousers - seams! they REALLY affect the way folds work. you can see on the above that folds stop at the seam - this is super common on a lot of more form fitting clothing!

4) if a line isn't working - would it be better to leave it blank and make the shape with shading instead?

again the above - there's a few folds on the legs i chose to show with a shadow (eg. showing the wrap around at the bottom of the right leg. the dramatic fold in the crotch area). this can help if the seam lines fall on the same plane as the fabric around them BUT

5) seam lines are a godsend! do not underestimate what wrapping a seam around a 3D object can do!!!

i can elaborate further/provide more examples but here's a first pass!!

but seriously - even if you're not drawing directly from a particular reference just looking at people/pictures and figuring out what folds are like... formative? or iconic? help so much! suit trousers (to use an easy example again) don't fall the same way as heavier materials (like denim) or looser fitting clothing! so basic tutorials are best for recognition & picking out important folds, not drawing from scratch!

As the captain, he needs to keep his grades up so he can stay in the club and go to volleyball events

This isn’t hard since he’s naturally a nerd, but he likes to study with you after practice

When you’re busy focusing he will sneak glances at you and silently chuckle at how cute he thinks you are

He will leave little notes in your notebooks and randomly draw hearts in the corners of pages but pretends he doesn’t know why you’ll randomly start blushing as you flip the page

The notes will range from “hey, you’re cute. Are you single?” to “you make me hotter than sulfate hydroxide mixed with ethyl acetate”

He loves you even more because you don’t always understand his chemistry jokes but he still manages to get you flustered

Knowing he’ll tease you if you react to his little notes you try your best to hide your smiles, but Kuroo is extremely observant and never fails to point out how cute you are with the biggest smirk on his face

Tsukishima

Tsukki really cares about you but he has a hard time expressing himself in public

He knows you like to be close to him because you tend to get a little anxious

He won’t say anything, he will just stick out his hand and wait until you interlock your fingers with him

He would never tell you but when you’re out and there’s a lot of people, he will walk slightly faster so you’re directly behind him and give your hand random squeezes for reassurance

He doesn’t want you to get lost and bump into anyone so he stays in front, that way he clears the way for you

Bokuto

Bokuto is our favourite himbo

He thinks so highly of you, there’s not a thing you do that doesn’t impress him

Bo tries really hard for you, and you help to motivate him even when you’re apart

You always make him after school snacks so he has energy for practice, so he’ll try to make you breakfast when you stay over

He shows off the snacks you make for him, especially to Akaashi, even if it's just cut up fruit

He’s getting a lot better at following youtube tutorials but the first time he tried making you pancakes, they got burnt so he made you a bowl of cereal instead

He spelt out “I’m sorry :(“ with the cereal as you’re eating

Ushijima

He is a very straightforward person and doesn’t see the need to outwardly flaunt you around

When you’re out with him, he likes it when you grab onto his arm because he likes how small you look compared to him (this man is a giant and no matter your size, he’s gonna think you’re smaller)

He tells you all the time he thinks you’re pretty

Toshi has long ass legs so it’s difficult to keep up sometimes, but when you get tired he loves giving you piggyback rides

He feels very giddy when you’re holding onto him and you mindlessly ramble about the things you see because he likes the feeling of protecting you

Toshi doesn’t talk a lot but he’s always listening and its evident in the things he ends up doing/ getting for you

He doesn’t smile often either, unless he’s with you, and he makes sure you know that he’s happy with you

Akaashi

Akaashi loves how independent you are

He likes that you get along with his friends, specifically Bokuto, but most of all he loves that even though you can take care of yourself, you’re not afraid to depend on him

You’re a little more outgoing than him in social settings, but you both prefer staying in so every night he will have you lay on his chest while he plays with your hair

Normally, you’re on your phone while he reads his books but regardless of what he’s doing, he will either have his hand running through your hair or rubbing circles on your back

He loves how it feels to have you snuggled into him and when you end up drifting off to sleep, he will kiss your forehead and whisper “Goodnight darling” without fail every night

Nishinoya

Noya loves that you can be just as energetic and you both like pda

He thinks your his good luck charm

Noya will scan the entire crowd before a game until he finds you and blows you a kiss

Every time he’s switched on, he will send you a wink but other than that he is very focused on the game and it’s nice to see how serious he can get when he needs to be

After a game, no matter the result he will ask you to meet him in the lobby and he’ll thank you for being there for him

But if they won, he and Tanaka will be running towards you and he would yell asking for kisses as a prize

Asahi

He’s a soft boy that always makes sure you’re okay

He’s shy so he finds subtle ways he can show you his affection without causing a scene

Azumane is a gentle giant and it’s easy to get him flustered (which you take advantage of) so even spontaneously giving him a kiss on the cheek will make him go red

You both settle on him giving you headpats when he picks you up from class and you hold his arm as you’re walking

The team always teases him about your relationship because it’s so easy to make him flustered, but he secretly loves it

He loves that you made an effort to get to know the team and that you’re able to joke around with everyone, even if he ends up being the butt of the jokes

Kenma

He isn’t into pda at all but he knows you want to feel close to him even when you’re out

He finds you matching shoes in different colours, he even switched the shoelaces of one of the shoes with his so you each have one lace from the other

Kenma is quite shy and doesn’t talk much but he’s very observant and has all your favourite orders memorized at all the fast food places the two of you go to

Without fail, he will order exactly what you want (preferably at a kiosk)

His memory is so good he would even remember how many ketchups you usually need to finish your fries

If you’re at home, he has a little drawer in his room filled with your favourite snacks because the two of you always stay up late and he likes to be prepared

Suna

He might not talk a lot but he loves making memories with you

Suna, as we’ve seen with the Miya twins, is very quick to whip out his phone when something happens

He has a photo album in his phone just for pictures of you or with you

When he misses you (especially before a game if you can't make it) he will always look at the first picture you took together after the first game of his you attended

Suna has a lot of secret pictures of you when you're cuddling of you fall asleep on him, he doesn’t want you to find them but they’re his favourite because nothing makes him fall harder than knowing he makes you feel safe

Oikawa

He calls you prince(ss) and cutie

Oikawa has a lot of fangirls, but he constantly feels like he isn’t good enough so he wants validation from the people he cares about, you especially

He treats you like absolute royalty because he wants to show how much he appreciates you constantly providing reassurance

He loves making you smile and laugh, and he’ll do just about anything to ensure you’re smiling

I just know Oikawa is the type to tickle their s/o under the chin when their pouting

However, hearing you giggle because he’s getting bullied by Iwa-chan will undoubtedly cause him to pout on the outside but if you get close enough he’s sure you’d be able to hear his heart racing from how happy he is

Tubbo quietly chuckled, smiling fondly as their friend squawked indignantly. “Tubbo! I’m serious, explain some shit, fuckin’ nerd!” Tommy scoffed, prodding at their side with his elbow. Tubbo hushed him, their smirk still lingering.

  “Hermitcraft is a super crazy popular server. If you’ve ever searched for examples of builds on your tablet, chances are, they’re from one of the Hermits. Or if you looked up something about redstone! Anything! You’ll find one of their instructions. They’re geniuses- just, complete geniuses. Grian’s one of them-”

  “Grian’s one of them!?” Tommy exclaimed, his eyes shooting open. Tubbo’s grin widened, nodding vigorously. “Yes! He’s the newest Hermit, last I heard.. Most of the guys he’s teammates with every MCC, they’re usually other Hermits!” They’d continue explaining to the best of their ability.

  “Should’ve fuckin’ started with the fact that Grian’s here! That fuckin’ dude! He killed Dream three times! Three times, Tubbo!” The blond continued with his excited shouting. Well, that certainly fixed the situation, Tubbo mused.

  The brunett nodded along, chuckling. “Yeah! He, and most of the others, really- post all that much right now. The new World Client, with the axolotls and caves ‘n stuff? They’ve started posting and sharing discoveries about that.  I know Grian did, at least. But considering they call themselves the ‘Hermits’ it makes sense to be a bit inactive, yeah?” Tubbo shrugged, tapping the chilly cool sandstone beneath them.

  Tommy nodded dumbly, glancing around the room for a moment. Tubbo, meanwhile, had pulled their tablet up. The holographic comm system was displayed infront of them, everything on the screen they touched being read aloud to them.

  Launching an accessibility app, the tablet began describing aloud the block palette, dimensions, and colors. As the tablet’s robotic voice played in his com system, reading aloud the details of his surrounding, Tubbo nodded along to an incoherent rant from Tommy.

Tubbo wasn’t too sure what Tommy was ranting about- likely MCC, and Grian. Grian got a kill on Tommy, last MCC, if they remember correctly.  The brunnett wouldn’t be surprised if that was the target of the blond’s current tangent. Tommy hadn’t even been able to get a word out, when Grian began shouting vigorous apologises between matches.

  The descriptions from the tablet were long, and boring. The robotic voice drawing on and on, as it attempted to describe the intricate room. Shutting down the program, Tubbo tuned back into Tommy. 

  “Fuckin’ am..So fucking tired. Of course we ended up here. It’d be to easy if we’d just be let back into Dream SMP, huh? Think Dream even knew we were out? I bet not. Even if he does, probably didn’t even care, fuckin’ dick. Bet that green asshole’s just sitting over his code and shit, simping over Gogy-” The blond ranted heatedly. The blind teen could hear the shifting and chustling of fabric, before the boy’s voice became muffled.

  With his head pressed against his knees, legs drawn to his chest, Tommy sat there practically panting. His chest heaved, the rage draining from him. “Why is all- all of this, always so complicated, Tubbo?” Blue eyes turned to meet the scarred, burnt front of the other.

  Tubbo picked at faded and torn tennis shoes, tentatively listening. The rymnatic pattern of the boy’s breathing, and the crashing overhead, offered some vague comfort. “All of what?” They’d tilt their head.

  The younger of the two quietly sighed, his mouth pressed in a thin line. His hand clutched the bottom of his torn, tan cargo pants, fidgetting with the frayed ends. “Us. Shit with us, it always gets so fuckin’ complicated. Big Man, you’re president. You’re- you’re the fucking president, now, Tubbo.”

  The bunnett’s brows furrowed together, as they inched closer to their friend. “Yeah. But it’s- it’s still us, y’know? If- if life was easy, then we’d be missing out on a lot of things. What if we had just never met-”

“We’d always meet eachother, Tubbo. There’s no fuckin’ getting rid of me, even in your fantasy world.” The blond nudged the teen’s shoulder, a wolfish grin evident in his tone.

  That made the other crack a smile, shaking their head. “I hope so, Tommy.” They’d chuckle, shaking their head. The weight of the day came crashing down all again. Before the rushing thoughts could boggle down their mind, Tubbo slumped against Tommy’s side sigh an exhausted sigh.

  “This is just, livin’ the fucking life, huh?” Tommy remarked, looking over his friend. The tall boy already shifted himself, his long legs sprawled out on the floor with his back leaned against sandstone walls.

  His head leaned against that of his compaignian, half-lidded blue eyes giving one last surveillance of the room. “We’ll figure this shit out tomorrow..” Tommy mumbled, glancing down at the brunette.

  Tubbo was already asleep, their expression finally one of peace. Tommy wasn’t given a moment more to appreciate the serenity of the quiet room, before he’d be pulled into slumber as well.

  Both of the teens were stirred awake by the whirring noises of an active portal- the Netherportal beside them, with particles flying, gaveway to two players. Tommy kicked himself up to his feet, defensively. Tubbo stumbled along with him, pulling back away from the strangers.

Though two stepped out, only one immediately caught Tommy’s eyes.

  “W- Holy shit!  You’re Grian!” Tommy squawked indignantly.

  Tubbo’s head immediately shot up, excitably breaking into a grin. Any exhaustion the two held was wiped away- neither was sure how long their unrestful sleep had been, but it was far more than other nights. 

  The target of the excitement, Grian, sheepishly stood there, nodding. “Uh, yeah! You guys are Tommy and Tubbo, yeah?  I’ve seen you at most of the MCC’s I’ve been to. You both did really good last time, by the way! I’m really looking forward to the next one!” 

This was easily the closest they probably ever were to the dirty blond. He also looked far more at ease, on this server. The iconic figure, ever-present in the community, had his wild mop of a fringe frazzled and framing his face.

  Poking under the bangs, Tommy could now see faint, ragged lines from a scar, along with other various healed-over wounds. Another contrary to how either of them had seen Grian, at MCC, was the large circular glasses loosely sat on his face.

Seeing one of his heroes like this (The only one that hadn’t betrayed, killed him, turned against him, despised him-) in such a..Domestic state, was bizarre. Tommy was scrambling for words, starting and giving up on getting his tongue around what to say.

  “This is so cool! Hi! I used to watch and- and listen, to a lot of your old build tutorials! A lot of people on our server would always say how we learned building from you!” Tubbo would blurt out, practically bouncing on their heel. Grian turned to the teen, slightly shocked but amused. 

  “Oh! I- well thank you! I’m glad I could be any help at all- my builds are nothing compared to some of what the other Hermits have going on..Speaking of others- this is Stress!” He’d take the opportunity to escape the small spotlight, glancing towards the brunette woman next to him sheepishly.

  The woman- Stress, apparently, quietly chuckled. A fond smile grazed her face, as she looked over towards the two teenagers. “Ello there, Loves! Sorry to interrupt your fan meetup,” She teased, side-eyeing the dirty blond beside her.  “We just wanted to come and check in, is all! X told us two to come visit, yeah?”

  Tommy quietly hummed skeptically,  surveying her. Short brown hair hung barely as low as her shoulder, a neat, white, blue, and pink flower-crown sat upon her head. The colors must’ve been very purposeful, considering they matched with her colorful outfit of the same color.

  “Fine, sure..Well, we’re still fuckin’ breathing, and we’re here. So you don’t really need to be here any longer, yeah?” Tommy scoffed, slumping back against the wall. Tubbo was already standing, nudging at his side. 

  “Thank you, for checking in. I- I’m sure this is a bit of a strange situation. That- Yeah, that’s my bad.” They chuckled sheepishly, rubbing the back of their neck. This caught Stress’ attention, turning towards the tene.

  “Oh, no! This isn’t a problem at all. Dear, this happens all the time. Grian just- just appeared, one day, in our previous server. We walk out the portal for the first time- and boom! There that weirdo is!” Stress chuckled, her grin unwavering as she gave a playful nudge to the dirty blond beside her.

  Grian scoffed, a smirk edging at his lips as he rolled his eyes. “Okay, but I’m not the only example of that happening- you didn’t have to pick me out specifically!”

  “Sure I do, Love! You’re the first new Hermit to join, after me and Zed! I get to bully you, lovingly!” She cheered. Stress’ energy was absolutely efficacious, Tubbo couldn’t help but smile and cackle at her and Grian’s banter.

“Uh huh,” Grian scoffed, dramatically crossing his arms. “Last I checked, that was Iskall’s job to bully newcomers- oh, Gord, when you all walked out of the portal and they just decked me ? I mean, it didn’t really hurt all that bad, but it’s a matter of the principle!”

  Stress seemed like she was almost gonna break down with laughter, clutching her stomach. “I forgot they did that with you, too! Iskall certainly is one that needs work with their introduction, that absolute weirdo!” She chostled, shaking her head fondly.

  She then turned towards the two teens, reassuringly smiling. “They won’t give you any hard time, they’re just like that sometimes, especially in the beginning of a new season..They’re usually just incomprehensible in the beginning, I learnt!” She giggled, covering her mouth.

  Tubbo awkwardly laughed, nodding. “Yeah- they, they sound like something.” It was..A strange environment, to be sure.

  Sure, they knew of the Hermits, their reputation impossible to avoid- but most outsiders didn’t know much about the actual Hermits. They went by that title for a reason.

  Tommy was having similar thoughts, he felt as if he was completely imposing on, everything. But he couldn’t find it in himself to care- it frankly was..Warming, almost, to see this. He missed being able to have that, on Dream’s server. 

  The blond in particular seemed to have tuned out, because by the time he snapped out of those thoughts, Grian was speaking again.

  “We’re glad to see you’re both alright, but, I don’t think we’ve been exactly great hosts. You both have gotta be hungry- I know the last thing you two seem to want is help, but..We’d be happy to help you however we can.  We can go get you fresh, real food. Or- you both come with us, and we take you to our central area, the Cowmercial district.”

  Tommy stared blankly at Grian for a moment, brows knitted together in bewilderment. “The… Cow..merical district?” He’d repeat, squinting.

  Grian snickered, nodding. “Yeah! The name just stuck. It’s our shopping district. We have a bakery- it’s never, ever too early for cake. There’s Doc’s shop, but that’s all villager-bought, if it’s the rare occasion that it’s stocked at all- so the Bakery may be the only option, for today.” He glanced back at Stress, who nodded in agreement.

  “Only if you’d want to,” Stress would interject. “Either of us could come bring you food here- but, we figured you might want to just..Get out. You’re allowed to leave here whenever you want- but, navigating our server by yourself, for the first time? Not the easiest.”

  The two teens glanced towards eachother. Tubbo looked like they were practically buzzing in place, at the idea of exploring the Hermits’ world. Tommy watched them for a moment, before quietly scoffing.

  “..Yeah, okay, sure- how the hell do we even get out of here though, for starters?” Tommy crossed his arms, inching closer towards Tubbo. He, for one, was really not a fan of having to fly out.

  Stress cheered excitably, pulling open her inventory. The woman promptly dropped a stack each to the two teens. “I came prepared, just in-case!” She grinned. With a swipe of her arm, the digital screen dissipated.

  “If you know how to use elytras, X already said he’s more than happy to lend out two from the back-up system. I have some to spare, as well.  But- you two never seemed the most comfortable in the air, during flight-based games.” Grian would add awkwardly, adjusting his own wings behind him. 

  Tommy didn’t pay much attention to the words- instead, he promptly threw open his inventory, gawking at the full stack of pearls. “What! I don’t think i’ve ever had this many pearls! Holy shit!” He pulled out the stack of sixteen.

  One pearl manifested in his hand, while a holographic icon hovered beside him. The pixel-image of an enderpearl, with a large 15x in the corner in white font was projected for only his vision. The blond couldn’t remember a time he had so many enderpearls.

  “Thank you! Wow- yeah, pearls aren’t really common in our server!  This- this is really nice!” They felt giddy, as they pulled their’s out as well, the action muscle-memory.

  “Well, I’m glad you two can put them to good-use, then!” She chuckled. The idle question of how can a server lack pearls skimming through her head for a moment.

  Within seconds of her saying that, Tommy had already blindly tossed one of his pearls- promptly falling down from the ceiling, and landing on the floor with a short shriek. Tubbo straightened up from the sidelines, tilting their head.

  “Tommy! What did you do?” Tubbo called out accusatorily, as they quickly popped their surrounding descriptor back on.

  “Nothing!” Tommy quickly yelled back, lunging to their feet with a stumble as they dusted themselves off.

  At the sidelines, Stress and Grian cackled, watching in lighthearted amusement. Tommy could feel his face flushed red with brief embarrassment, quickly attempting to play it off.

  “Truer answer; I was being awesome. That was what, Tubbo. Are we eating or what? I want to throw pearls and go places. And eat, that too.” He quickly turned towards the two Hermits expectantly, narrowing his eyes at them.

  Grian grinned, nodding. “Yes, yes we are! I have boats. Go ahead and pop up with your pearls, and we’ll fly out to you.” He explained briefly, pulling the boats from his inventory. The thin, digitized object manifesting in his hand. 

  Tommy turned expectantly to Tubbo. “You got this, Toob?” He tilted his head, watching his friend. Tubbo had immediately nodded vigoriously, running over towards the center of the room, the ceiling above open to the water. 

  “Yeah! I’ve got this, Big Man! No sweat!” They gave a toothy grin, shifting the enderpearl in their hand. Arching their arm back, the teen cautiously stepped back.

  Their communicator had continued reading off the details of the room into their thin earpiece,  primarily the dimensions. All they had to do was hit the wall leading up to the surface to get out. They could do that, surely.

  With a huff of effort, they chucked the pearl. They heard it  break through the under-surface of the water, and then they were submerged. Breaching the surface, they gasped for a moment. The ocean rippled, clothes heavy and soaked. They were certainly glad they had been in their casual clothes, rather than their presidential outfit.

  Within a moment, Tommy was up beside them, quietly gasping as well. The blond pushed his hair back, lightly nudging Tubbo away from the gaping hole in the water beneath them- and then Grian and Stress flew out.

  The sound from the rockets were deafened from beneath the ocean, thankfully. Only a thin trail of smoke followed them, the sight certainly unfamiliar to the fireworks the two teens had been accustomed to.

  Both Hermits had dived straight into the shallow water with a splash, before the dirty-blond dropped down two boats.

“I want to drive! Tommy, i’m driving us!” Tubbo cried out, at the sound of the wood hitting the water. Beside them, Tommy scoffed.

“Tubbo! I’m not gettin’ motion sickness! We just woke up, no way. Your idea of ‘driving’ is no one elses, my friend.” He rolled his eyes, crossing his arms as he pulled himself into the boat. Beside him, Tubbo whined.

  “C’mon, man! Nothing like a bit of motion-sickness to get the day started!” They playfully remarked. Despite that, they had already accepted their defeat, pulling up into the boat.

  Stress and Grian watched the teens carefully, with Stress laughing lightheartedly at the banter between them as she pulled herself into the boat, behind Grian.

  Grian, on the otherhand, was mostly quiet. A thin wisp of a smile was present, conveying one of bemusement. Tommy didn’t get a good look, but, he couldn’t quite pinpoint the look from Grian. He didn’t like it.

  “Alright,” The older Brit at hand started. “We’re real close. No one should be at Looky Looky At My Cookie- and it should be early enough that there aren’t any real occupants at the Cowmerical District.” He explained, turning the boat as he got a small start ahead of the teens.

  “Sure, then! That sounds g- wait, what’s that name?”

“C’mon, then!” Grian wouldn't answer Tubbo’s valid question, before boating off. Tommy quickly following behind, shouting indignantly after them.

  It certainly was odd. It felt..Comforting, here. Certainly not relaxing. The opposite of cf relaxing- Tubbo had nothing but the craving to do something. But it was..Welcoming. It was strange. They hadn’t felt so- so unbothered, since..Ever, really. They liked it.

  Tubbo wondered if it could stay this way.

  Tommy wondered what the hell they were about to get themselves into.
