i'm sure that you get asks like this a lot so i apologize if i'm beating a dead horse to the ground LOL but for someone who owns an online shop, do you have any tips for beginners just starting off / looking into starting one? not really asking for anything specific, but just rather anything you'd be willing to share based off your experience...!
OOF okay so there's quite a lot that goes into running an online shop, so best general advice i can give is to do your research! there's a lot to an art shop that you need to consider and understand before running into things. sometimes it's a bit hard to figure out where to start your research though, so here are the biggest things i think you should look into first:
manufacturing your stuff: some artists hand make merch at home, but if you don't have the means to do that then you'll need to find places that can manufacture your designs for you. like if you're making stickers, look into custom sticker printing sites like StickerApp or Sticky Brand. a lot of manufacturers will have sample packs you can order for free to get a better idea of what their items are like.
shop hosting websites: figuring out where to actually host your shop and sell your art is very important - my shop is through Big Cartel which i really like, but isn't for everyone. other shop hosting sites include Shopify and Etsy, and Shopify is sorta similar to BigCartel from what i know? Etsy is very different, selling through Etsy means your stuff will be easier for people to find through the Etsy search function (BigCartel and Shopify don't have this, any traffic you get will have to come from off-site and you'll have to advertise the shit outta it). HOWEVER Etsy has some pretty bad practices when it comes to how they treat the artists that sell on there. most people i know that use/used Etsy have been burned by them in some way, so be warned.
money stuff (accounting, budgeting, taxes): LEARN HOW TO MAKE SPREADSHEETS!! spreadsheets with just a few simple addition/subtraction formulas will be a huge help when it comes to budgeting and keeping track of your expenses - and you'll need to keep track of ALL your expenses! taxes can also be tricky, most shop hosting websites will collect sales tax for you but do some research on what freelance/small business taxes look like in your country.
shipping: the two main aspects to shipping are your shipping supplies and shipping labels. you'll want to find mailers that fit and protect whatever art you're selling, and tbh the best way i figured this out was from buying from other artists and seeing how they packaged their stuff! shipping labels are their own beast - some sites like Etsy will make them for you, but not BigCartel. i use a site called Pirate Ship to import BigCartel orders and buy shipping labels for them.
thats about all i got for now, running an online art shop is very hard not gonna lie!! but it's very fun and rewarding to make your own funny items :] best of luck to ya!!

one webcomics trend I've noticed for a bit is comics where the creator casts a wide net and publishes to as many sites as possible, so like there's a tumblr mirror, a webtoons mirror, a tapas mirror, a twitter mirror, I've even seen one that has a tiktok mirror (god). Some of these even have the decency to actually have their own website
the idea was to cast the widest possible net in order to get the maximum audience possible, as this was the excuse for people using webtoons despite it sucking raw hot dogs but i dont understand how on earth this strategy could ever work lol
Tumblr media
full lol i love to hear myself talk damn. fucking. subnormality webcomic behavior
anyway to highlight the uselessness of google analytics, these are my analytics arranged on "looker studio", a google product i guess they forgot about, in order to make sense of the useless shit they're showing me. you can see this enormous traffic spike from a traffic bot farm advertising their services by ruining your metrics. you can no longer filter these urls from your data.
Tumblr media

here's my google adsense conspiracy theory from me shedding light on why i think (STRONG EMPHASIS ON "THINK". IM HYPOTHESIZING) with commentary from someone who knows way more about the subject than my armchair observations.
my marketing strategy is to talk bullshit with people with similar interests while letting people know when my comic updates twice a week. if they want to read it, they can. they're not stupid, they don't need to be forced into reading it if they want to. i assume most of my readers are as broke as i am so i don't hound them to give me money they don't have. i'll never run ads again unless its like. for a friend's thing. hand-cultivated by me. im not looking for a wide audience, i'm looking for an audience of people who "get it" and can see an inherent value in what i create. if they have some spare cash, i make my barrier to entry on my patreon extremely low; 1 dollar a month and you can see things early and go through a backlog of author commentary and design stuff and rewards im sooo behind on im so sorry. im so sick i promise, im coming back!!! anyway i just want real human people to have a chance to see things and enjoy things without making it a fucking hassle, you know.
the most organic, actual traffic i got from my site is from a friend's webcomic that links to mine. 11 people read a lot of pages! that's genuinely making my head spin! that's great! i hope they liked it and will check in again. i love the comic they came from so they are clearly ppl of taste lol.
oh uh. and heres my comic lol. for any cantankerous gay old losers out there.

Some Thoughts on the Reddit Blackout
Like many new arrivals on Tumblr these days, I used to be a Redditor until recent developments encouraged me to take my business elsewhere, and I have been following the development of the story as thoroughly as I can without actually giving Reddit any more traffic. With the most recent development of the Reddit admin corps taking on a suite of strategies lifted straight from the depression-era railroad baron playbook, I figured the time has come to talk a little about the wider implications of this whole story.
The Tech sector is, to the best of my understanding, in a vulnerable place right now. After the Web 2.0 gold rush and years of consolidation and growth from the biggest actors, your Alphabets, Twitters, Metas, and so on, many of the larger sites and services are reaching the largest size they can expect to grow to. How, for instance, could Facebook or Twitter grow much more now that everyone and their mother is on Facebook and Twitter? Prior to the Musk buyout, Twitter seemingly settled on upping engagement, making sure people were on Twitter longer and invested more energy and emotion in the platform, usually by making damn sure the discourse zapping through that hellhole was as polarizing and hostile as possible. Meta, meanwhile, has been making bank on user data as advertisers, AI folks, and any number of other actors salivate over getting their hands on the self-updating contact and interest registry that is Facebook.
With the rise of what we apparently have decided to call AI, data is now more valuable than ever. I consider this to be yet another Tech Hype Bubble on the level of NFTs or Metaverses, but, like with the two above, I can imagine it's hard to explain that when you are a Tech CEO and your shareholders ask you "Hey, how do you plan on earning us money off of this AI/NFT/Metaverse thing?" This is not to say CEO Steve Huffman isn't handling this whole thing with the grace of a three-legged hippo, but merely to suggest that his less-than-laudable decisions and actions in this mess don't arise from his character alone but also is a result of wider systemic issues.
One of these issues is the complicated role user data plays in modern websites and -services. Since its inception as a publicly accessible space, the question of how to monetize the Internet has been a tricky one for site and service owners. Selling ad space on your website or service has long been the go-to, but this in itself presents its own issues, having to curate content that is considered ad-friendly, malicious or careless actors making using said service or website less attractive for customers, and finally how to convince your advertisers that they get what they pay for in the first place, ie. "how do I know people even look at our ads?" All of this is before you even stop to consider how ads massively favor large, established actors.
It's no small wonder, then, that several startups in the era of internet mass adoption chose to forgo ads, or at least massively deprioritize them and/or relaunch them as "promoted posts," in an attempt to escape the stigma around ads. Meta/Facebook is probably the biggest fish in this particular pond, but we also see other services such as Twitter and Reddit follow the same pattern.
What makes this work is that the data these platforms collect from their users isn't all that valuable on a person-to-person basis, knowing that so-and-so is 32 years old, lives in a traditionally conservative part of the city, goes to Starbucks a lot, and listens to Radiohead isn't particularly useful information for anyone but a dedicated but lazy stalker; When viewed as an aggregate, however, large collections of data on a large population becomes quite valuable. This is especially true if you're working with, say, targeted ads or political campaigns. Look no further than the Cambridge Analytica data scandal for an example.
Now, all this is to illustrate the strange position the user occupies in Web 2.0. We tend to think of ourselves as the customer of Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr, and so on, but it isn't the case. After all, we don't pay for these services, and if we do it's to buy freedom from ads or other minor service modifications. It is more correct to say that we make up the product itself. This is true in two respects, first, an active social community is vital for social media to not be entirely pointless, and second, we generate the data that the platform holder seeks to monetize. This hybrid product/participant role doesn't map cleanly to traditional understandings of "worker," but I argue it is a closer fit than "customer."
All of this is to say that it is immensely gratifying to see the Reddit Blackout taking the shape of a strike rather than the more typical boycott model we've seen in the internet-based protests of yesteryear. Much of this, I think, we can thank the participating Reddit moderators. While the regular platform user can be *argued* to be a worker, the moderator inarguably is one, and the fact that they aren't paid for their efforts is more a credit to the prosocial nature of humans than to the corporate acumen of the platform holders. Either way, moderating a subreddit is work, if the subreddit is large, it's quite a lot of work, and moderators keeping malicious actors, scammers, and hatemongers out of everyone's hair is a must for any decently sized social space to not be an objectively terrible experience. So, if you were to, for example, withhold your labor (moderating for free) which you as a worker can do, it would be plain irresponsible to leave the place open for said bad apples to ruin everyone's bunches, thus the shutdowns.
I don't think it's a controversial take to claim that the Reddit admins also view this more as a strike than a boycott, given their use of scabs, intimidation, and other strikebreaking tactics in an attempt to break the thing up. This is nothing new, and the fact that Reddit admins are willing to stoop to these scumbag tactics tells us that their bluster about the shutdown not affecting their bottom line is nothing more than shareholder-placating hot air.
As this entire screed has perhaps demonstrated, I believe the Reddit Blackout is important. My stay at Tumblr so far has been excellent and will probably continue past this strike no matter what outcome it has, but for others in my situation, or perhaps entirely alien to the Reddit biome, I ask you to consider: If we do not stop this level of consumer and user-unfriendly bullshit Reddit have been pulling on the API change, where will it pop up next? Who's to say the next bright idea in corpo-hell isn't "Hey boss, how about we charge these nerd losers a dollar per reblog? And maybe a fiver for a Golden Reblog (TM)?"
This is perhaps getting into grandstanding, but I believe we are way past due for a renegotiation of what it means to be a platform holder and -user on this hot mess of an internet. If we as users do not take an active, strong stance on the matter, the Steve Huffmans, Elon Musks, and Mark Zuckerbergs of the world will decide without us. One does not have to be a fortune teller to see that the digital world this would create would not have our best interests in mind any more than the current one does.
So, in closing, I wish to extend my wholehearted support to the participating Moderators of Reddit and everyone who has decided to take their business elsewhere for the duration of the shutdown. Even without getting into the nitty-gritty of the API situation, this is a fight worth having, and may we through it make a world that's just a little bit less shitty.
Become Ungovernable
Become Unprofitable
Stay that way.

MESSAGES I CAN’T SEND
꩜ tags black!reader, therapist!eren, college setting, age gap (reader in 20s, eren in 30s), power dynamic, not so protective sex? mentions of death [not proofread]
꩜ synopsis isn’t it obvious to hide your private life better? or was it not obvious when a video of you dry-humping a pillow was sent to your therapist.
@ word count 3.6k
story below the cut !!
Tumblr media
ever since you’ve lost your mother to old age, your mental health has spiraled downwards a little bit. you’ve had the privilege of knowing when she WOULD die and at-least died in a proper place rather than somewhere shitty, so that’s cheered your spirits up a little bit. she was your best friend though, and losing your best friend is painful. you went to her whenever you could, talked on the phone for hours, and slept in her bed every night as if you were still five years old.
you weren’t the only one suffering though, your childhood friend sasha couldn’t stand watching you wither away. even though she did everything she could, she knew she was capable of oh so much.
you weren’t the only one suffering though, your childhood friend sasha couldn’t stand watching you wither away. even though she did everything she could, she knew she was capable of oh so much.
“do you want me to hook you up with my therapist? he’ll seriously help you clear all cloudy thoughts away y/n,” sasha says caressing your cheeks
you move your face away from her hand, “they aren’t cloudy thoughts sas, im just grieving my mother..”
“i know baby, i know.. but i don’t want to grieve YOU if you die of a heartbreak. i want you to get better, physically and mentally.” sasha looks at me emphatically.
she pulls out her phone and scrolls through her contacts until stopping at a card called “dr.jaeger”. “listen, give him a call please. his prices are cheap and his place is nice. it’s not like those dull white offices with an ugly long chair and a monotone person.”
you sighed, reluctantly agreeing to her copying and pasting the number to your phone. “okey, i gotta go now babe, but PROMISE me you’ll give him a call, he’ll help you, and if he doesn’t i’ll play for any of your bills ok?” sasha says packing up her stuff. she kisses your cheek before leaving the quiet study area, leaving you alone to your own thoughts.
you stare at the contact card, pulling dr. jaeger’s name up on your laptop and scrolling through his website. sasha was right about one thing, his prices WERE cheap. about $65 an hour and he also had packages where two weeks of therapy would be about $350 in total.
the prices however, weren’t enough to convince you fully, as your scroll down to see the reviews.
“dr. jaeger saved me. after the loss of my wife, i never felt like so lonely, but my daughter told me about him and he’s helped me heal properly and not turn to anything crazy. he’s an amazing person with amazing talents as such a young age. 5 stars”
ok.. that was something. not that you were going to invalidate them, but that seemed just.. fake. you decided to read another one.
“oh my gosh. no one would believe how amazing someone is at listening and understanding a person’s thoughts. dr. jaeger was nothing like those terrible therapists who make you pay $100 for an shitty hour call. oh how i wished i can say more, but the character limit is fu”
you giggled at that one. maybe i should give him a call. with a deep breath, you called the number.
“hello? my name is y/n, i’d like to speak to dr. jaeger please.”
—
it’s been about a month since you’ve scheduled a session with dr. jaeger, only having to wait that long due to “heavy traffic”. sasha is currently driving you to the building.
“you know, i’m really proud of you for calling. i was scared you were going to stay depressed forever.” sasha says over her 80s radio playing.
“let’s not get too happy yet, he could still be shit at his job..” you say cutting down any happy thoughts.
“you’re STILL doubting him y/n? i get that some people are money hungry, but i promise you he’s not. if he was, do you think ME of all people would be recommending you to him? i mean c’mon, have some faith please.”
“i’m sorry, i just nervous ok. my stomach is doing backflips at the moment.”
“hey man, if you feel like farting, ill park somewhere and you can walk the rest of the way.”
you two pull up to the parking lot, fancy with a modern style front. the office itself if very modern and 2 floored.
“k, i’m gonna drop you off here, call me when you’re done ok?”
you walk out of sasha’s car, waving her goodbye while she drives away. you walk into the sleek office, with painting from what you the assume were from the last two centuries.
the receptionist greets you with a nice smile “welcome, how may i help you today?” you give her your name. “ah i see, you right on time then, ill have this guard guide you to dr. jaeger’s office.” just then, a semi tall man with a black uniform from comes in-front of me. “right this way.”
he leads me into the elevator, where he then leads me into a hallway with lots of rooms. there’s multiple therapists in this building, all with different ways. as i look through the glass windows, i see pet therapy, group therapy and even massage therapy. the guard finally stops at a door, with a name tag having “DR. JAEGER” on it. “here’s your room, have a nice day.” he says as he’s walking away. you give him a quick thank you and knock on the door.
a deep “come in.” follows shortly after, and you enter the room. first impression of when you enter the room was that sasha was right. the room was anything from boring, and didn’t have white walls but instead had a mix of brown and auburn. there was lots of old-style decor too. a record player, cd’s and even the tv was kinda old.
however you were greeted with the most shocking thing of all, dr. jaeger himself. he looked away from his papers, to look at you and gave you a warm smile. his visuals was… something you didn’t expect. most therapist are middle-aged men and women, that are sort-of not the most attractive. but that was ok, because they wanted to help you, not seduce you. dr. jaeger on the other hand was extremely beautiful. he has dark brown hair, put up in a semi-messy bun, the most luscious green eyes, and very kissable pink lips.
i guess you were admiring his facial features for too long to notice dr. jaeger looking at you weirdly. “maybe un-responsive.” he mutters to himself, typing down on his laptop. upon hearing his words, you apologize and scurried to the seat in-front of him.
“or not. . . my name is dr. jaeger, if you’ve haven’t gotten a chance to see on the door.”
“i did, sorry for not responding earlier.”
“it’s ok, its common for most genders to be shocked at how i look.” dr. jaeger said in a non-concerned voice. you were took aback a little by his comment, most genders to be shocked at how he looked? you were wondering if he was just annoyed at the common occurrence or just knew that he was an attractive man. “pushing that aside,” he sighed “sasha has told me a lot about you.” he says looking up at you.
“she did?” you question.
“mhm, she cares for you ms….” he looks at the paper look for your last name.
“y/l/n.”
“ah, thank you. sasha cares for you ms. y/l/n. she talks about your recovery, and wants you to best happy for her.” he says maintaining eye contact. you can’t respond to such kindness. all you can do is nod your head and smile.
“but as a therapist view-point, the death of a loved one is one of the hardest battle we have to overcome as a human being. no matter how emotionless a person may be, the death of anything else to them will always cause someone to break. that’s just how we are, we humans . . . after all.” he says empathically.
“my job isn’t to make you forget your mother, or forget the pain you feel about her. you always feel pain lingering about her, and that’s ok. i’m just here to help you reduce that pain.”
you were shocked. cheap prices, handsome therapist AND a good one at that? maybe it’s good to stay faithful after all.
—
it’s been about 3 weeks since you’ve had daily therapy sessions with mr. jaeger and he’s honestly been helping you a lot. you had different kinds of sessions, like walking around and even some pet therapy. today was for a usual one-on-one walk around the building beautiful outside landscape.
as you and dr. jaeger walk around, you wave to the other clients with their own therapists. “see how social you’ve gotten? when we first came here, you were begging to stay back inside due to all the people,” he jokes around. “now, you’re friendly with them. it’s good progress.” he smiles to himself.
“it was only because of you, dr. jaeger. i don’t think i’d be the way i am without your help.”
“ah. . . don’t flatter me too much. let’s sit right here yea?” he says pointing towards the swinging wood benches. “it’s beautiful outside, isn’t it ms. y/l/n?” he turns to look at you.
“yea, it really is.” you turn back to stare at him. god, you can stare into his eyes for hours. it’s something that about that were so addicting, that you couldn’t look away if you wanted to. to break the silence, you decided to follow up with a cheeky comment. “say dr. jaeger, you really know how to keep a client.” he moves his head to the side, confused. “i like to believe that my clients stay with my due to how i help them and not my looks.” ah fuck. it was not received well at all, and you just profusely apologized to him.
“but, if my looks did make people stay, that wouldn’t be all too bad huh,” he says giving a hearty laugh. “but tell me now, ms y/l/n. does my looks make you stay?” you were at a loss for words. one part of you wanted to say “fuck yes” while another part of you wanted to say “absolutely not”. and you of course went with the latter.
“whatever your answer is, it doesn’t bother me either way. . . but it looks like our time is up ms. y/l/n.” you look down at your phone for the time. it was up after he exclaimed. the two of you head back to his office to pick you up your stuff.
that night later, you were chilling in your bed, getting ready to dose off. you however, couldn’t sleep without thinking about a fantasy. it didn’t matter what type, other than it having to be something interesting. you close your eyes, your mind shifting to dr. jaeger, and the moments between you two that drove you insane. like that one time he wore a turtle neck, showing off his clothed six-pack abs. you imagined yourself touching them, feeling the rock-hardness of them. you open your eyes again, looking around the room. to be honest, you haven’t.. you know what, in a while and you thought it might be time to do it again.
you move your bedsheets closer to the edge to give you more space. and moved all your pillows away except for one. you pulled your phone out and started to record. it might seem weird to other people, but you like to record yourself, in the time that you couldn’t find anything good on twitter or reddit.
you start to rock your hips back n forth on the pillow, assuming it the body of a male. maybe it was dr. jaeger body you could’ve been assuming it off. either way, it turned you on, seeing how you started to move faster on your pillow. one of your hands grip the pillow, as the other hand massages your boob. you move faster, enjoying the friction your clit is getting between the pillow and your soaked panties. you close your eyes, imagining dr. jaeger guiding your body with his big, veiny hands. as you’re about to climax, you can’t help but subtly whimper his name.
once you’ve finished, you end the video. while you’re cleaning up, sasha enters the room. “hey girlie, i was thinking of getting some drinks tomorrow night? wanna come?” she says exciting. “i would but i have a session with dr. jaeger tomorrow.”
“boo, you’re boring.”
“whatever, i’m going to the shower, so let me know if anything happens ok?”
“yea yea boring y/n.”
you go to the bathroom and take off your clothes, hopping inside the shower. you turn on the water, letting the lukewarm water hit your skin. you are alone with your thoughts until sasha comes inside the bathroom.
“not to be nosey, but dr. jaeger texted you.” she says.
“mhm really? what did he say?”
“i didn’t look at it properly, but something about a daily wellness video?” you knew right away. dr. jaeger usual makes his clients make videos of themselves with positive affirmations, then with their consent, he’ll use it on his website for future clientele.
“ahh ok! just send him the most recent video.” you photo gallery takes forever to update, so there’s a chance it’ll take forever to show the video of your “naughty time”.
“ok, sending right now… and it’s sent. if he wants a further conversation, i’ll let you know.”
“thanks sash.”
as you walk out the steamy bathroom, and get ready for bed, you check your notifications for any new ones. you go into the chat between you and dr. jaeger, seeing if theres anything new. you took a look at the video of your affirmation, seeing the shirt you wore today as the thumbnail. you clicked on it, expecting your face to zoom out, as you were testing the camera quality always. to your shock, you camera didn’t zoom out. but instead was your body moving back and forth on something. your heart dropped. it couldn’t be. you’re praying it wasn’t. you skip some of the video to see if it was truly what you think it was, but the video suddenly changed to a more in-depth shot of you humping the pillow with your panties being in view.
your heart start to beat faster than usual. you click off the video to delete it right away. dr. jaeger didn’t respond to it, and it said it was ‘delivered.’ you wanted to tell yourself that he hasn’t seen it, and probably watches those videos early in the morning. you weren’t going to stress yourself out though, you were just gonna go to his office per usual, and get counseling per usual.
—
you take a deep breath and knock at his door, hoping it all ends well. you hear his “come in” but it sounds different from before. his voice went an octave lower. you walk into the room, seeing a more “messy” side of dr. jaeger. at-least he didn’t look at cleaned up as he usually does. his bun was a lot more frizzy from before and he had two buttons undone on his button up shirt.
maybe he had a rough morning. you think to yourself. “good morning ms. y/l/n. how was your night?” you stopped for a second. such a simple question was something so dangerous to you. “it was fine, dr. jaeger. how about yours?”
“oh. one of the best i’ve had in a while.”
“ah. mine was the worst i’ve had in a while.” you mumbled.
“really? i would’ve assumed you’ve had a very nice night ms. y/l/n.”
you stare at him confused. what could he mean by that? yea, you fixed your hair a little better than usual, and your eye bags have gone away overtime, but you truly did have a sleepless night yesterday. dr. jaeger gets up from his chair, to lean on his desk, standing in-front of you. he stared down at you with his usually lighter colored eyes now displayed a dark-green. and his pupils were more extended.
“i don’t know what gives you the impression that i’ve had a nice night dr. jaeger.”
he bends to to match the height of the chair, and put both of his hands on the rest, restricting me from mounting off of it easily. “let’s cut the crap, y/n. i saw what you sent me.” at this moment, it felt like 100 daggers were suddenly lodged into your chest.
“i wondered why you asked what you did yesterday. i thought to myself ‘maybe she thought i was attractive’, but i see it was more than that i see,” he says not breaking eye contact. “you see, as a human, we see something we like, and have many kinds of thoughts about it. and i see the thoughts you have towards me are stronger than what i expected.”
“i’m truly sorry dr. jaeg-“
“call me eren, seeing as that is what you called me in the video.”
“i’m sorry eren, truly. i don’t want to do anything to make you uncomfortable or hurt this relationship between us.” i say holding back my tears.
“hurt? uncomfortable? those words are out of the park right now,” he says standing up. “to be honest, tell me why you came today y/n.”
“to have a therapy session with you.” you meekly say.
“is my looks standing in the way of you healing with the death of your mother?” he says standing behind me.
“not at all, dr. jae- eren.”
“so then what provoked you to send me a five minute long video of you fucking yourself to a pillow in the imagination that it’s me?” you were at a loss for words. he was right. your heart sank as his word dug deeper into you. and you couldn’t hold back your tears anymore. you started to quietly sob, feeling large hands down your shoulders. you feel a hot breath near your eyes chill down your spine. “don’t cry, not in this manner at least,” he says in your ear.
“cry because you can’t handle it, y/n.”
you stopped and turned to look at him. he had a devilish grin on his face. “handle what?” you say, not catching his gist.
“you’ll find out soon enough.”
eren lifts you up by the arm and spins you around to face him completely. you didn’t know what was going on, but you didn’t want to push away. your faces was a mere 4 inches away from each other. “can i? y/n. . . can i give you what you want?”
you look at his eyes then his lips then his eyes again. fuck it, you nod your head and eren kisses you passionately. he stops kissing you for a moment to push the chairs aside. you look at his desk to see his usually messy papers cleaned up to the side. he planned this probably . . . eren picks you up and places you on his desk.
he places a hand on your chin, rubbing it gently. “open it baby,” he says as his kisses you again, but placing his tongue all over the inside of your mouth. his hands tug on the bottom of your shirt, signaling for it to be removed. in between each kiss, you both take off a piece of clothing until you up to your undergarments. eren slips his large hand under your breast, fondling with it while he leaves wet hickeys on your neck. with the other hand he unclasps the bra, throwing it the ground. he kisses you again, muttering “nice tits”.
you pull at the band of his underwear, “want you in me ren’.” you whine. “patience baby.” eren says sliding your panties off to the floor.
“are you on any pills by any chance?”, he says rubbing ur slick all over your cunt. “m-mhm ren.’”
“good. so i don’t have to hold back.”
eren slips his underwear off, revealing his long, veiny and girthy dick. you want to guess it’s around 6-7 inches, but it was gonna tear you up regardless. he strokes his dick, ‘lubing’ it up with his pre-cum. he inches closer to you, having his dick and your hole just one insert away from each other. you open your legs wider and lay down on his desk, giving him more access to yourself. “didn’t even have to ask.” eren said.
he teases the tip of his dick on your clit. your whole body tingles in response, arching your back off the cold desk. “please ren’…” you beg, desperately wanting his dick buried into you. “please fuck me eren.”
“as you wish.” with that, eren aligns himself with your entrance, slowly pushing himself in. the both of you moan simultaneously from the pleasure you both felt. eren starts to push his hips back and forth into you, keeping a firm grip on your waist. eren keeps a nice pace, making sure to satisfy both sides. suddenly, eren lifts your legs, wrapping them around his waist. you jolted from the tingle he gave you. you were trying to conceal your moans, but every time it was getting louder than usual, eren made sure put his hand over your mouth.
eren’s pace starts to unstable, moving fast at times and then slowing down to grind himself on you. you can tell he was close to his climax, seeing how desperate and shaky thrusts were.
“‘m so close baby. . .” he grunts.
“‘ren please! mhm.” you whine, begging him to release.
“at the same time? what a good girl..” he barely breathes out.
eren picks you up by the waist to pull you closer to him. there wasn’t enough space between you too, but he didn’t care. eren grinds his dick into you, feeling his dick throb in your walls. then, you feel a warm liquid pour inside of you, while at the same time cry out from your orgasm.

Once again, my enemies have done to me what they always do: get angry at me for getting impatient at Home Depot. And in a way, they’re right. It is both of our faults that I got upset. The workers are trying their best, and sometimes they have more pressing duties (customer pooped in the display toilet?) than coming to help me cut some plywood on the saw. That’s not their fault. What is their fault is that they once, years ago, showed me the key that they use to unlock the plywood-cutting saw’s safety interlock, and didn’t notice me taking several pictures of it with my phone before uploading it to a lock-breaking website operated by an unaccountable offshore artificial metamind.
They shouldn’t be too mad: sure, I did use their key-cutting machine to make a copy of that key, but I paid for it, just like any other sucker. That’s the right thing to do. If anything, they saved some money by my work of piracy, because I didn’t have to wait for an employee to come by and use the key-cutting machine, either. I’d love a business where customers walk in, serve themselves, and then give me some money. It would leave me with a lot of free time to waste at Home Depot waiting for someone to come by and slowly operate the power tool I already know how to use.
I do hear you saying now: if you’re so fucking handy, then how come you didn’t take it home and cut it yourself? The answer is that today’s modern plywood sheets are too big to fit into my delectable shitbox of a van, which was only made for three or four years in a suburb of Chengdu. Even now, getting any information about the model requires officially applying through the Chinese embassy, and often times all you’ll get back is “it is very suspicious that you keep asking so many questions about this.” I still keep trying, though, which probably means I won’t get to visit the factory in which it was made, or at least the Party representative who shows me around it won’t be very gracious when she spots me trying to shove mufflers into my pockets. So I have to hack the plywood in half and kind of jam it in there at an angle with the hatch propped open. And I can’t turn right very sharply or it will all fall out into traffic.
Home Depot says you should “do it yourself.” This is a noble pursuit, and, if anything, my core ethos. Of course, what they actually mean is “fuck it up, and buy materials to do it at least twice.” Their hypocrisy is laid bare in this exact situation, but worry not. I made sure to run off a few more orders from other customers before the orange-aproned Gestapo cottoned onto the sound of basic competence. With any luck, they too will become impatient with the doddering pace of hardware-store monopolists. I could use a second pair of eyes to watch my back while I’m working the key cutting machine next time.

So a bit of personal behind-the-scenes blogging here about YouTube sponsorships, doing creative writing for a job, workloads and stress and burnout.
I am never taking this many sponsorships ever again.
I don't know if there was something in the water in September or if a bunch of marketing budgets just needed to get burned, but at the end of August I started getting a lot more emails than usual from agencies that wanted to purchase sponsorship integrations. I'm sure there's some structural industry-side reason for this that I'm simply not privy to, but from my perspective it was just a flood of emails.
There were the usual ones, of course, the RAID: Shadow Legends sponsorship that I am getting very tired of turning down over and over again, a bit of crypto-nonsense and Play2Earn games which can go get f*d, and then a smattering of things that just kinda don't fit my channel or my audience, like a Chinese-run site doing online coding classes for people who want to emigrate and work in the PRC, or one of those semi-fraudulent "purchase a square foot of land in Scotland and become a Lord, technically!" which are, like, usually just a harmless novelty, but not really fit for my audience.
The way influencer marketing on YouTube works (at least at my level of micro-celebrity) is that companies will contract marketing agencies to run campaigns for them. The agencies bid against each other for contracts, promising to deliver maximum engagement at minimal cost. The company picks an agency and gives them a pile of money to spend on ad-buys. Agencies reach out to influencers en masse (usually through mailing lists and directories of channels above a certain size, listing their general content and likely audience profiles), and ask us how much we charge for a 30-60 second integration.
The marketing agency's objective is to make their budget deliver as many trackable metrics for their client as possible, usually in the form of signups, clicks, website traffic and so on. Some agencies will focus on advertising only with huge names that have massive reach, some will pick out a hundred smaller creators hoping to cast a wider net. Most agencies will do some mix of the two.
So, they email me like "how much for an integration?" and I... have to invent an answer. See, there isn't really a standard rate for any of this. How much is a view on my channel worth? How much return on investment does an ad on my channel generate? I'm just a person, I don't have a market research department, I don't have any education or training in evaluating the effectiveness of advertising. I make video essays about game characters and occasional anime.
The best resource for YouTubers on this subject is... each other. We basically just have to talk to one another, figure out what everyone is charging and try and derive a reasonable rate from that. There isn't a union or a guild, there are no associations or central resources (or even community resources) that set the standards or allow us some form of collective bargaining.
My problem is that most of the peers I talk to don't really do influencer marketing. They stick with ad revenue and Patreon/Twitch subscriptions, or just aren't on the radar of advertisers yet, so I'm flying this one kinda by the seat of my pants.
Ayway, returning to the subject. In September I get a lot more inquiries about sponsorship than usual, which puts me in the very unusual position of turning sponsors down not because their product is a bad fit, or a crypto scam, or RAID: Shadow Legends, but because I simply can't make enough videos fast enough to fill the "order."
I book Squarespace and Skillshare, which are reputable companies whose products I've used myself, which basically fills out my schedule, and then the offers keep coming. I should not have accepted as many as I did.
---
I should say, I've never been poor. I come from a middle class family in a Scandinavian social democracy, there are safety nets under me that most people don't get to have, and I don't ever have to really be afraid of ending up on the street or starving. What I have been is broke. I used to make my living as a commission artist and cartoonist, and spent essentially a decade constantly, constantly dancing right on the very edge of being able to make rent each month. I was chasing a dream of building up a customer base to fund my independent comics work, and... it broke me a little bit. I came down with a very dark depression that I couldn't really deal with, and spent weeks and weeks pulling all-nighters chasing commissions and doing work trying to scratch money together.
YouTube happened entirely by accident, and for all that I've complained about the troubles that come with this work, might have genuinely saved my life a little bit.
I bring this up to say, ever since the YouTube gig started reliably paying my bills, I have had at least a couple of realizations per year of just how anxious and freaked out I still get about money. I still check my online bank obsessively, I still fret over keeping savings and paying bills, I still feel guilt over spending money on non-essentials.
And when I get too many sponsorship offers, I still feel like I should accept all of them, and pull whatever all-nighters it takes to fulfil them, even though I'm not 24 any more and when I tried to do it as a 24 year old it caused a depression that nearly made me suicidal.
Because what if these are the last sponsorships I'll ever get? What if the next sixth months are really bad months and I don't make as much in ad revenue? What if my videos lose steam and the audience moves on? What if everyone gets tired of me? What if someone copyright strikes my channel twelve times out of nowhere and kills it forever?
I haven't been broke in years now. I'm not a wealthy man, but I haven't been broke. I don't have a pension fund, but my bills are paid, and looking rationally at the statistics and analytics I have access to, there is literally no reason to believe it'll all go "poof!" and be gone overnight.
And yet, I feel so guilty about not taking every sponsorship I can ethically take. I feel so guilty about not hoarding money, building savings, protecting myself, "being responsible." And I feel so afraid of that unnamed catastrophe lurking just around the corner, where I'll be punished for my hubris to think that I was ever safe, and thrown right back into that fearful scramble. Right back into that depression.
It's a sticky fear. You scrub and scrub and scrub, and the stain of it just won't come out.
---
I took too many sponsorships in the latter half of this year. This is a champagne problem, there are creatives I know who would kill to get sponsorships at all, and I'm not trying to fish for too much sympathy here. "Oh no, too many people wanted to give you money to read 60 second ads, boo hoo YouTube man, how sad for you" is, like, a valid response to this. I'm not exactly being ground down by the Amazon Fulfilment Center over here. It's not a cry for help, or a plea for support, it's just a blog.
But I took too many sponsorships. I clogged my schedule, and committed myself to a lot of work, and... every other part of my life suffered. I found it harder and harder to spend time with my family, because the next deadline was always on my mind. That knowledge that taking time to do anything else inevitably means a harder rush to finish the work, it means more stress and less space to think, less space to do good work.
Because that's the other anxiety, of course. Having taken these sponsorships, I now feel pretty intensely that I need to make videos that are good enough that my audience doesn't feel taken advantage of, that they feel that the content I put behind the ad was worth the time they took to sit through it. Sponsored videos need to be better, they need to have higher production quality, better scripts, better editing.
So how do you justify taking time to do anything else?
I spent less time with my family, I became less and less able to keep the apartment clean, less and less able to cook, less and less able to even spend time socializing and doing enrichment for my pet rats, which they need for their mental health. And I started to feel the familiar sensation of burnout eating me up from the chest outwards.
I had started taking piano lessons at the local community center, something I've wanted to do for myself for a decade. And I had to cancel those lessons over and over again, and usually last minute, because work just got in the way. Last week I told my teacher that I simply wouldn't be able to make it to them anymore, to cancel the whole thing. And that knocked the wind out of me more than I thought, honestly. That was something I had been so excited to finally do for myself, and it just got bled out in front of me by the workload I couldn't get myself to say no to.
I've dealt with burnout many times before. I know what it is, I know how to recover from it. But I have never learned to stop inflicting it on myself. I am a workaholic, I am addicted to the stress of this sh**, not because I find it pleasurable, but because for ten years the satisfaction of finishing a piece of work and securing the paycheck was the only sense of real relief and catharsis I ever got to feel from my anxiety, and I don't know how to stop chasing that high. When I'm stressed, when I'm anxious, when I'm feeling unsure or unmoored, the only response I know is to drown myself in work. Energy drinks and junk food and too little sleep. I don't have any other real coping mechanisms.
It'll take... a while to fix those things, I think. It's not happening right now. But I am promising myself this, at least: I am never taking this many sponsorships ever again.

December 2023 Newsletter – Year in Review
Here is our December Newsletter!
Main event:
As we end 2023, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on our victories for the year. Truly, it has been an incredible ride, with far more success than we could have hoped for.
The rest of the text is under the cut; relevant links are embedded in the text on our website.
Lobbying with the US Senate: We worked with Senator Baldwin’s office to help the COOL Online Act (a bill to crack down on dishonest resellers) pass committee. Read our analysis of the bill here.
Fighting Etsy’s Reserve Payment Policy: Our work, combined with the heroic efforts of UK sellers and the media, pressured Etsy to reduce or lift their devastating payment reserve policy for many sellers. Samantha Vass, a prominent UK seller who spoke out, had her Etsy shop suspended, learn more and support her business here.
Feedback to the FTC: An US Federal Trade Commission lawyer reached out to us for feedback on a new FTC rule against unfair and deceptive business practices around online platform fees. Learn more here.
Presentation to UK Small Business Commissioner: We were able to discuss the issue of online platforms messing with indie sellers’ money in a series of meetings with UK Small Business Commissioner Liz Barclay. Watch a video of the presentation here.
Marketplace Research Project: We had over 1,000 participants in our research survey on what creative indie sellers and their customers want from an online marketplace. Read more about how we will use that data to hold marketplaces accountable here.
In the works:
The first annual ISG virtual convention will be April 13-14, 2024!
Tumblr media
We will launch our Marketplace Accreditation Program, unveil our new membership site, and discuss how we can continue to fight the exploitation of creative indie sellers by big tech platforms.
Panels will include:
What to do if you get screwed by a tech platform. – with Katharine from the Electronic Frontier Foundation
Etsy Alternatives: Data and tools to help you find the best marketplaces for your business
How to use your Etsy shop to direct traffic to your own site (without breaking Etsy’s rules) – with Kristi Cassidy, ISG President
Results from our Marketplace Research Project: What do sellers and customers really want from an online marketplace – with Samantha Close, Ph.D.
Interview with Racheal from Mayfli marketplace in the UK
Interview with Jon from goimagine marketplace in the US
Get your ticket now to reserve your spot! Tickets only cost $1 to help cover the costs of the convention.
Share your story!
The FTC is seeking public comment on their proposed “Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees”. After our meeting with the FTC, we are excited about the rule because it will also protect creative indie sellers from unfair and deceptive fees from marketplaces. If the rule goes through, we hope to use it to combat Etsy’s forced off-site ads and other unfair practices.
Please take a moment to share your thoughts in a public comment, we want to make sure the perspective of creative indie sellers is represented!
We heard you:
We know that the seller member directory, and members-only parts of the website in general are a bit difficult to navigate. One of our first goals in 2024 is to update our membership with new software and far more features. Stay tuned for information on how to set up your profile on the new site!
What ISG needs right now:
While we’ve managed some amazing things with a very small budget, thanks to our amazing volunteers and open source software, we need more funding for 2024 to continue to grow and advocate on your behalf.
Please consider making a small donation to the Indie Sellers Guild. If half of our members donate just $5, we will raise enough funding for the next 6 months. Or you can buy one of our awesome merch items so you can represent the Guild and show off the work of your fellow artists. The Guild receives $5 from every merch purchase.
Thanks so much for your support!

@staff @wip @humans @support
stop this algorithm driven hell, stop the capitalist madness, stop this tiktokification
borrowing concepts from "popular social media apps" is pretty much the worst business decision you could make. this is not a social media platform targeted to everyone and their mother, this is a blogging site with a very finely working ecosystem. like it or not tumblr will never appeal to the broad public. and you don't want it to, trust me!! the twitter/instagram/tiktok people don't want to use your website and never will, no matter how much you try to roll out Generic Offbrand Tiktok App n.385. they don't need it. to them tumblr is dead and irrelevant and full of incomprehensible weirdos. you know who *will* use your app and generate site traffic and revenue? the fucking core user base that's been here since the dawn of time. the people who affectionately nicknamed tumblr the Hellsite yet spend their lives glued to their dashboard babbling about blorbos and wizards and ballpits and ea-nasir's bitch ass copper. the people who flock to tumblr exactly and solely because it is not the damn profit driven attention span reducing minor sexualising social bubbles creating algorithmic pit of despair these other apps are. all you're achieving with these decisions is alienating the only demographic you have and ever will appeal to. have you ever read anything on here? if there's one thing an average tumblr user hates it's capitalistic money grabs. replacing the blog tab with the marketplace tab is a clear signal as to what you think is more important and even though the reading comprehension on this site has never been strong, we know how to read between the lines. and we're pissed. but mostly we're disappointed and fucking sad because we already see how this will cause the downfall of tumblr, the last place of refuge for many a internet dweller.
what I'm trying to say is please stop trying to appeal to the tiktok girlies. they don't care. they don't need you. instead focus on keeping your current users cause they'll stick with you through thick and thin as long as you don't turn this into glitchy instagram in a wig.
we won't leave.
we don't want to leave.
we don't have anywhere else to go, you're not losing us to competition.
this is OUR carefully cultivated space with zero working features and a gazillion problems and we will die protecting it.
but if you chase us out with a broom that's on you.

New month, costs update
Last month I got a lot of support for the site, it means that at least for this month I can keep it up and running no problem! Because of it, I am going to make this a monthly post where I try to be transparent about costs and earnings through the donations. It will be a bit of numbers stuff, so I will be putting it under the cut.
All in all though, thanks everyone for the help and just like last months your donations to keep the site running are very appreciated and needed if you want to keep FRTools available!
One time ko-fi donations: https://ko-fi.com/perryvanvelzen Monthly aid on patreon: https://www.patreon.com/frtools
So, numbers!
Costs:
The total hosting costs last month were €93.32. Due to how costs are shown on my Azure dash, the costs shown in the images below are without tax.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The App Service is the website itself, as well as everything that runs as part of it such as the Discord bot and all the automated tasks such as the item fetcher and news reader.
Now for the donations:
There was a total of 81 euro donated on ko-fi.
Tumblr media
Patreon had 2 people sign up, totalling about €1,80 per month
Tumblr media
Ads
As you noticed, maybe, ads are on the website now. I tried this before but always got declined so I kinda gave up. Since then the site has gotten more traffic and the need an income made it dire enough that I ventured into it again. The site is approved for ads but unless the amount I gain from it improves I might just turn it off again. So far the total earnings from ads are approximately €0,01 for the month of September.
Tumblr media
Not exactly worthwhile so far, but who knows. It has only been a little bit. On a side note, I only get money once my accumulated earnings reach 70 euro. So yea..
What does it all mean?
So this puts the total donated last month at about €82,80; just €10,50 euro shy of covering the complete hosting costs. A cost I can sort of comfortably carry myself.

Understanding The Sales Funnel: A Guide to Boosting Your Business's Sales
Tumblr media
In the world of business, the term "sales funnel" is commonly used to describe the process of turning potential customers into paying customers. The sales funnel has become an essential tool for businesses of all sizes, helping them to optimize their sales process and increase revenue.
What is a Sales Funnel?
A sales funnel is a model that visualizes the process of converting potential customers into paying ones. The sales funnel represents the different stages that a customer goes through before making a purchase, and it helps businesses optimize their sales process.
Why is the Sales Funnel Important?
The sales funnel is important because it allows businesses to understand and analyze their customers' behavior, identify areas for improvement in their sales process, and ultimately increase their revenue. Here are the stages of the sales funnel and how they can benefit your business: Awareness: At this stage, potential customers become aware of your product or service through marketing efforts such as social media, advertising, or word-of-mouth. By analyzing your marketing data, you can identify which channels are bringing the most traffic to your website and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Interest: Once customers are aware of your product or service, they start to show interest. You can measure this stage by analyzing how long potential customers spend on your website, what pages they visit, and whether they sign up for your email list. Decision: At this stage, customers are ready to make a purchase. You can measure this by analyzing your conversion rates and making adjustments to your checkout process to ensure a seamless buying experience. Action: The final stage is when a customer completes a purchase. After a purchase is made, businesses can measure customer satisfaction, collect feedback, and use that information to improve their sales process and create loyal customers.
How to Create a Sales Funnel for Your Business?
Creating a sales funnel involves several steps. Here's how to get started:- Define your target audience: Determine who your target audience is and what their needs are. - Create a lead magnet: Create a lead magnet that will attract your target audience to your website. - Drive traffic: Use different marketing channels to drive traffic to your website, such as social media, email marketing, and paid advertising. - Capture leads: Capture leads by offering a free trial, a free consultation, or a lead magnet. - Nurture leads: Nurture your leads by providing valuable content and staying in touch with them through email marketing. - Convert leads: Convert your leads into paying customers by offering a compelling offer or discount. - Upsell and retain customers: Upsell and retain your customers by offering additional products or services and providing excellent customer support. You can earn money but you don’t know how to do it. Then you can come see it. Here’s how to earn $1000 a month by spending just $20. Come and see without delay.
Deliver the Right Message at the Right Stage of the Sales Funnel
It is important to deliver the right message to your potential customers at each stage of the sales funnel. For example, at the awareness stage, your message should focus on introducing your product or service to potential customers. At the evaluation stage, your message should focus on helping customers make a decision by providing testimonials or product comparisons. At the loyalty stage, your message should focus on building a relationship with your customers and encouraging repeat business.
Here are some tips:
- Awareness Stage: Create engaging content that captures the attention of your target audience and helps them understand the benefits of your product or service. - Interest Stage: Use lead magnets such as free trials, webinars, or eBooks to further educate potential customers about your product or service. - Decision Stage: Use testimonials, case studies, or product demonstrations to help customers make informed purchase decisions. - Action Stage: Make the checkout process as smooth as possible and offer excellent customer support to create a positive experience for your customers. Example of a Sales Funnel Let's take an example of a sales funnel for an e-commerce store: - Awareness Stage: At this stage, the store attracts potential customers through various marketing channels such as social media ads, Google AdWords, and influencer marketing. The ads and promotions create awareness of the store and attract visitors to the website. - Interest Stage: Once the visitors are on the website, the store displays various products and services to them. The store uses a lead magnet strategy, where visitors can enter their email address to receive a discount coupon on their first purchase. This helps the store to capture the visitor's contact information and build a relationship with them. - Consideration Stage: At this stage, the visitor explores the store's products and services, reads product descriptions, and customer reviews. The store provides an option to add items to the cart, which acts as a micro-commitment from the visitor. - Intent Stage: Once the visitor adds items to their cart, the store reminds them of the items in their cart, and also offers them additional product recommendations based on their browsing history. The store also offers free shipping, which incentivizes the visitor to complete their purchase. - Purchase Stage: At this stage, the visitor makes a purchase and receives a confirmation email from the store, which provides them with order details, expected delivery time, and order tracking information. - Loyalty Stage: Once the visitor becomes a customer, the store can use email marketing to retain and upsell to them. The store sends follow-up emails to check if the customer is satisfied with their purchase and provides them with information about new products, promotions, and discounts.
Conclusion:
The sales funnel is a crucial tool for businesses to optimize their sales process and increase revenue. It helps to break down the customer journey into different stages and identify areas for improvement in each stage. Asians in Porn
Tumblr media
When we want to talk about the fetishization of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders we need to discuss the portrayals of ourselves in porn. Our portrayals in media matter in how many of us are perceived as we interpret media as realistic portrayals of life. Leaving out porn in our discussion of representation in media would be a poor decision as porn websites get more traffic a month than many of the worlds most popular apps, like Tik Tok or Amazon. So how have Asians been portrayed in porn in the past and present?
Yellowface in Stag Pornography
According to The Museum of Sex, stag films were "[produced in the] early 1900s until the late 1960s" and "were predominantly short, black-and-white, and anonymously produced". In order to look at the historical portrayal of Asian Women in porn, we have to look at how Asians are portrayed and racialized in early stag films.
Celine Parreñas Shimizu discusses and analyzes Yellowface in stag pornography in her book "The Hypersexuality of Race" in Chapter Four "Racial Threat or Racial Treat? Preforming Yellowface". She finds in her viewings of stag pornography that the sexuality of Asian women is racialized in these films. As the actresses portraying the "Asian" women in this films are white, stereotypical, orientialist props are used to racialize the actresses. Kimonos, chopsticks, flowing robes, and specific hairstyles such as buns are stereotypically used to racialize the actresses.
"Making fun of Asians indicates the place of Asian women in the stag film. Their bodies are made into cultural objects for the viewers’ pleasure and/or ridicule. Their difference provides visual pleasure that comes from seeing objects from afar: exotic items previously unseen for they belong somewhere out there"
Genitalia also becomes a sight for racialization as closeup shots of penetration (also known as "money shots") serve to not just show the act of sex but also the differences in skin color, and sometimes even the anatomy of genitalia to differentiate race.
Many of these stag films end with messages of racial harmony, using sex to show the indifference between races. Yet these films depend on racial differences to drive the stories and arousal in their films. The sexuality of Asian women is exotic and fetishized in order to turn racial panic (Yellow Peril) in racial pleasure (Yellow Pleasure) to appeal to a white male gaze at the time. Through this analysis, we can see how the sexuality of Asian women has been purposely differed and stereotyped in order to appeal to sexual fantasies of the white male gaze.
"the stags offer a pornotopia that says that sex universalizes racial difference" "Race signals perversity. If the sex acts are equally the same, as the films ultimately argue, the marketing of racial difference seems to be contradicted. If Asian women do not ‘do’ sex differently, what’s the big deal? Race functions as a part of the narrative in the commodification of sex"
Portrayal in Porn Today
We can see how the exaggeration and usage of race to translate to sexual pleasure is presently used in porn. "Asian" is often its own category in porn and represents more of just Asians having sex. Porn including Asians is often racialized and stereotypical, as Asians continue to be portrayed as "doing sex differently". Asian women in particular continue to be portrayed as small, submissive, infantile, and exotic. Not only have these portrayals continued, but the popularity of Asian porn has skyrocketed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to PornHub Insights for 2023, we can see how Asian categories or "Asian-related" categories (categories associated with Asian and Asian produced media) have been extremely popular in porn search history and viewership. For me this not only reflects a growing interest in Asian porn but may also indicate the consumership of sterotypical and fetishizating behavior towards Asian women today.
