This girl back home, Chloe. Beautiful girl, stunning. She's a barmaid at the local watering hole. We hook up when I'm home - I am PUNCHING above my weight.

I fear that "fire bending didn't come easy to zuko" and "zuko isn't a prodigy" (both true) has somehow snowballed into "zuko is a bad or at best average fire bender".... which simply isn't true, especially by the end of book 3

Stephanie Brown stopped eating her burger and just stared as a teen stumbled into the fast food joint.

Literally stumbled. Living in Gotham, Steph was no stranger to seeing scuffed up kids, but this guy was seriously fucked up. His hair was matted down with blood across the right side of his head, some of it blending in with the dark purple of his black eye. And judging by how he was gripping onto that side’s shoulder while its arm hung down, she suspected the damage extended down at least that far too.

She was on her feet in an instant, bumping her table as she stepped out to approach him. “Holy shit, are you okay?”

He let go of his shoulder just long enough to wave her off. “Nah, it’s cool. I just want some food.” In that brief moment, the injured shoulder seemed to shift slightly, and he grimaced before quickly putting pressure back. Wait, was it actually dislocated or broken and not just bruised? Why wasn’t he getting medical attention?!

“I really think you ought to go to the hospital. Or at least a clinic.”

“No, really, I’ll be fine.” He tried to smile at her reassuringly, but the blood in his mouth was not helping matters.

She felt flummoxed, and before she could format a further response, he stepped around her to approach the counter and the shellshocked looking cashier.

“Hey, can I get uh… I dunno, a burger? Whatever’s quick and has a lot of calories. I’m starving.”

The cashier continued to stare for a moment, then shook their head rapidly and spoke. “I– uh– alright, okay, sure. Yeah. Anythin’ else? An’ what name’ll it be for?”

“Nah, that’s fine for now. And it’s Danny.”

the fact that the sequel trilogy could have perfectly set up a three v three scenario where the main trio could have each taken down their counterparts (poe against hux, finn against phasma, rey against ren) before they defeated snoke together so you could explore their characters and pasts and show the differences between the dark and light side of the force. and not only did they not do that but they basically screwed over the trio as a concept entirely

will: coming from college you got older guys that have kids instead of a senior in college...having someone the same age is really helpful, going to dinner, always together off the ice, is obviously better...

the rink: where do you go to dinner?

will: i like looking things up on tiktok (it's not 5 guys then?) no its not haha

will: well its my first year living on my own...roommate in college and lived 15 minutes away from home...this is the first time across the country so had to mature a bit

will: ill never not love boston - my friends and school guys its always hard leaving hem

the rink: you said you had to learn to do some things on your own - like what?

will: cooking, just living on your own, i still facetime my mom to learn stuff i gotta do

will: i try not to i mean i try to be as greatful as i can, even coming to new york, being a 19 year old on the team, getting to play at msg is pretty crazy

the rink: do you see the future...with you and macklin there's clearly a path...do you see it?

will: obviously we have these big picks...everyone is pretty pumped up about it...it's pretty exciting...having toff around, a veteran who has a cup...it's cool to be a part of

the rink: you said you do everything with macklin, macklin is living with joe, what's he like?

will: he's pretty funny, im over there a lot, i mean have dinner over there, go over and play basketball play a little 2v2 with him and his kid river

the rink: you're lumped in together with macklin - you have to like each other? but it seems like you guys are similar with similar personalities. is there a fit that this is a long term thing...i think back to toews/kane when they came in together and they liked each other and it just fit and we saw what it did.

will: it blended right away first time we met...rivals in college - its funny that were going to be together for a while now. were at media things together but we are together all the time off ice.

the rink: you're together all the time, do you talk about bu vs bc, us vs canada?

will: we talk about it all of the time...we go back and forth about past games...you can ask him about that

the rink: how are you guys different? as a player and people?

will: we're both very competitive guys, you're not going to get to this point if you're not. as a player i mean he's very high paced and you know, obviously you've seen him play, he's pretty amazing out there, i mean as a person he's funny and has a personality, he likes to make a lot of jokes, which i like and i like to hang out with.

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

honestly it's extra tragic to me that with Muu's help Haruka was improving his writing so much

exactly how much time is passing is weird, but she can't have been teaching him that long. Muu is a teenage girl with zero teaching experience, zero experience with intellectual disability and no outstanding linguistic talent. she's not dumb, but there's no mention of her being an exceptional student or being any kind of prodigy

and yet with her help, even in an environment like torture murder prison, he significantly and noticeably improved. not only did his writing/kanji/vocabulary make a huge leap forward, he became far more confident

he just needed someone, anybody, to care about him

Omega4Omega JiuYuan ends up with Shen Yuan adopting all the disciples me thinks

Also Shen Jiu is always like, one wrong move from tearing the throat of any nearby Alpha out of their bodies

Oh the disciples love Shen Yuan, and in return Shen Yuan adores the disciples. Shen Jiu is constantly rolling his eyes and telling him that he coddles the children too much but Shen Yuan just gives him a sweet smile, unhidden by one of his stolen fans that he seems to like so much, and tells him someone has to if he won’t.

Shen Jiu is more willing to accept Shen Yuan spoiling his students after the first time he hears one of them call his A-Yuan shimu. Well he is after he dragged Shen Yuan back to their home and showed him exactly what he thought of his students thinking Shen Yuan as his wife did to him. (If he himself starts to treat his students a little more gently so Shen Yuan doesn’t frown at him and sleep in the spare room then that is his business and anyone stupid enough to say anything about it frankly deserves what he does to them)

Shen Jiu is always willing to murder any alpha. At all times. This man would tear an alpha’s throat out with his teeth if given the slightest reason… which is unfortunate for his martial siblings who are mostly alphas. His is however incredibly protective over other omegas, particularly his disciples. He and Qi Qingqi have an understanding when it comes to new omegas and by understanding I mean they will go to war over claiming them as their disciples but will team up if it means one of the alpha peak lords not getting them.

He has even growled at an alpha on Shang Qinghua’s behalf and to this day neither of them will admit it ever happened.

Scott Smajor (cc) is such a good story teller actually and the common themes he uses in his storylines captivate me. I think we should talk about how good he is at Themes more often. If I wasn't so tired I'd write essays.
