Can I request a Steve and rockstar reader where they go to the grammys and she’s there when she wins her first Grammy for like new artist or something
Ooh, you're good. I had one of these planned in the OG series, but... it would fuck with the timeline too much to include it here. 👀 SO! Enjoy actor!steve's first trip to the Grammy's & rockstar!gf's second. W.C.: 3.3K Warnings! My blog is 18+, MDNI. Prosaic devotion, probably. General lack of knowledge of behind-the-scenes/Hollywood et al.

🎶 Darling, we sacrificed we gave our time to something undefined / This phantom life sharpens like an image but it sharpens like a knife 🎶
Tumblr media
Awards shows always felt awkward. Fancy gowns, famous faces, free alcohol, press line, and professional competition. Sure, it was nice to be recognized by your peers or the committee or whatever, but that didn’t mean the entire thing ceased to radiate mean girl energy.
At least it was the Grammy’s, something firmly in your wheelhouse where you wouldn’t be expected to make small-talk with a cinematographer and pretend like you actually knew what that entailed. That being said, there was the added pressure of performing and being nominated for a few awards that evening.
No biggie.
The last few shows had been a breeze, all you had to do was show up and look good: the film festival circuit beginning with Venice, the Emmys, the Kennedy Center Honors, the Golden Globes, etc. None of that had anything to do with you— it was all Steve Harrington.
So when your alarm rang on Saturday morning, you screwed your eyes shut and retreated beneath the covers. Despite knowing that Vickie was already awake and would be gently rapping at the bedroom door soon enough.
You heard Steve clear his throat, shifting the sheets as he turned to face you— all stupidly gorgeous bedhead and eyes squinting in the bright morning sun. His right hand flopped over and landed on your thigh, giving it a soft squeeze.
“Good morning,” Vickie coos, once you’ve managed to swipe your phone off the night stand and onto the floor. She picked it up quietly, pausing the blaring alarm and set it back on the table.
Reluctantly, you sit up as the covers are peeled away from you, open your eyes and blink slowly. Game day.
Steve had long accepted now that Vickie would show up at the ass crack of dawn on days like these, coffee and breakfast in hand, before you were relegated to the makeup chair where you’d spend hours being poked and prodded to near perfection.
He had plenty to do today as well and Robin was expected shortly. You wouldn’t be surprised to find her puttering around downstairs finalizing his schedule.
Speaking of which—
“Want me to run through the day?”
You nod and reach for your matcha latte, taking a sip while Steve wraps an arm around to pull you back down to the pillows with him. He’s managed to find his glasses and get them on, so at least there’s some progress in the Harrington camp. There was a noise from the hallway, the bedroom door opened and Robin appeared.
“‘Sup nerds?” She greeted and deposited Steve’s protein shake on his nightstand.
“Ugh, still?” He grimaced, eyeing the green concoction warily.
“Yes, dingus, still.” Robin falls into a club chair by the windows and sips loudly from her frappucino. “Now, drink up, buttercup. Nolan wants you in tip-top shape.”
Steve rolls his eyes and begrudgingly takes a sip of the drink. Robin smiles, delighted, before turning back to Vickie with a wink.
“Right, as I was about to say,” she begins, a blush steadily creeping up her cheeks under Robin’s gaze. “Carpet starts at 3pm— you’re expected right at the end.”
You suppress the urge to roll your eyes. Your helpful suggestion of skipping the press line and carpet was quickly vetoed by pretty much everyone on the team due to the fact that you were a nominee.
“Your hair is 10am, make up at noon when you finish lunch. Drinks and everything in Bar Marmont with management and crew at 2pm–everyone has different departure times so time on the carpet is staggered. You and Steve are last.”
You nodded. It had been a stressful few weeks— Steve filming on location and you in rehearsals for tour. Not to mention the tabloids and rumor mill running rampant with ‘America’s Sweethearts on the Rocks?’ and ‘Cherry Spotted Solo - Is This the End for the Hollywood Power Couple?’
Steve would walk after the last call, a warning voice would come through speakers and that’s when he’d take his seat. Better to skip the carpet than get drug into the spotlight and inadvertently fuel a fire that neither of you started.
Robin sipped from her own coffee, sensing the hestiancy that hung in the room like the smog around LA. “It’ll be fine guys, piece of cake,” she tried to reassure. “Just focus on celebrating the banger of an album you’ve made!”
You nodded as Steve threw off the sheets to take a shower. He drops a kiss to your forehead and says, “Yeah, honey, the rest is just confetti,” before disappearing into the ensuite.
Tumblr media
Knowing that no matter what happened or what the interviewers threw your way, you’d make it out alive and wake up to the same sky and the same guy beside you was a good reminder.
Which was what you repeated in your head when you followed behind him after your last interview, a security detail by your side, all the way by the lingering reporters, inside, past the bars, into the arena, and to the table.
The opening sequence was smooth and energizing, someone delivered drinks and you clinked your glass against his, a quick wink at you in the dark before he leaned and cracked a joke to Eddie at the table nearby.
The night unfolded like that, relatively peaceful and uneventful. That was until one of your categories was called. Steve’s hand gripped yours when your name echoed in the arena with the other nominees. Your eyes went a little wide when he stole a glance at you, the whole table laughed in an effort to ease the tension.
“And the Grammy goes to…” Jennifer Lopez deftly opens the red sealed envelope before glancing back up to the cameras with a smile. “Being Unknown, Cherry McGowan!”
Your head falls into your hands at the shock of it all, the entire table erupted in a cheer and toppling over chairs in their haste. Steve’s arm wraps around you, head tucked close to yours, lips grazing the crown of your head.
“You did it, baby!”
You nod, hands still covering your face so he has to pry them from you and dry your tears. Steve pulls you up, his smile beatific and eyes misty. Fisting your the full of your skirt, you nod to Hop and make your way up to the stage.
But not before a clumsy kiss that has Steve pulling you back for more. You hide your face in his shirt, laughing before you yank him back down, smothering his growing excitement with something better—enough to make him and you forget that everyone is watching.
“Later, hot stuff,” you promise with a wink and follow your producers and collaborators to the podium.
Tumblr media
The rest of the night went by in a blur, including your performance of “Who We Are.” Despite Steve’s needling and unique methods of persuasion, you’d managed to remain tight-lipped about the song in question, knowing it was his favorite and with good reason.
You’d written it for him, after all.
Slipping backstage to change into your performance gear, getting micced up and fitted with your in-ears, you allowed yourself a moment to exhale. You weren’t expecting to win, too much of a fan of the other artists and albums to think you’d beat them out.
But here you were, two Grammy’s under your belt and being ushered on-stage to perform. A tech hands you the cherry-red Stratocaster Steve had gotten for your birthday last year, the same one you’d recorded the song with. The stage manager counts you down and cues your entrance.
The crowd cheers as the lights go up, drowning out the announcer echoing through the arena, and the opening piano chords earn a dull roar in anticipation as you approach the mic. You find Steve in the crowd easily, Eddie at his side— both proud and nursing celebratory bourbons.
And it’s the easiest thing in the world for your hands to cradle the mic and sing the first verse, directly to the man who’d inspired it and had been by your side through it all.
“What I had left here I just held it tight / So someone with your eyes might come in time / To hold me like water / Or Christ, hold me like a knife.”
To say he’s shocked is an understatement. Steve all but drops his drink when he realizes the significance of the song you’d selected to sing. When the drums and bass kick in, you maintain eye contact with him, throwing in a knowing smile.
The final single from your now Grammy award-winning album premiering on the biggest night in the music industry, not too shabby. Catching sight of Steve trying not to shed a tear was just a bonus, really.
Tumblr media
Back at the table, comfortably buzzed after your performance, the night was coming to a close. Steve had somehow wrangled your legs into his lap under the table and was working on the sore muscles of your calves. Eddie had pulled up a chair on the opposite side, under the pretense of “toasting the belle of the ball.”
Trevor Noah appeared on-stage to present the final award of the evening. The announcer listed the nominees, cameras veering toward tables for the live broadcast. You subtly extricated yourself from Steve’s grasp, lamenting the loss of his warmth and touch. He slung an arm around your shoulder and pulled you close, “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you lied, nerves fluttering in your stomach. The cameraman swung by for a close-up as your name was announced, you smiled politely before turning your attention back to the stage. A number of people had gathered behind Trevor on-stage, and you spotted a familiar face immediately.
“And the Grammy goes to,” Trevor intoned, pausing to open the envelope and glance behind him. He beelines for the older woman immediately, the realization crashing on you like a lightning bolt. “You can read it,” he says to your mother, her eyes scanning the envelope before her.
“C-Cherry McGowan,” she breathes out, followed by a roar from the audience.
The entire table is up on their feet, fists pumping, jumping for joy, high-fives all around. You’re barely able to process it all when Steve lifts you into his arms, coaxing your legs to settle around his hips and kisses you stupid.
Eddie’s wolf-whistle pierces through the spit slick haze you’ve found yourself in. Steve’s hand cradling the full of your thigh as he reluctantly sets you back to rights. He’s got lipstick smeared on his mouth, just like the Emmy’s, but won’t let you wipe it off.
“Don’t keep ‘em waiting,” he says, hustling you off to the stage. Your co-writers and Hopper meet you there, all wide smiles and murmured congratulations. Your mother is bouncing on the balls of her feet holding the Grammy, like she can’t believe it’s real. She tugs you close in a warm embrace as you kiss her cheek. Wiping at the corner of your mouth her thumb comes away tinged pink with lipstick. She murmurs her praises and hands you the award, shooing you to the mic at the center of the stage.
Walked up with no plan, head empty, so all you can say is, “Shit. Well, shit.” Your eyes flit to Steve batting Eddie away while the frontman of Corroded Coffin attempts to get the remnants of lipstick off your boyfriend’s face, with little to no success. You sigh, “I wouldn’t be here without my wonderful collaborators and team,” you say and rattle off their names. “I’ve been so inspired by the artists here this evening and I’m grateful for their friendship. And I think it’s important to remember, especially on nights like tonight, that there is no such thing as ‘best.’”
Eddie whoops and toasts you with a glass from the table. Steve is all smiles and eyes on you— you try not to lose it seeing him mouth ‘I love you.’
“I’d also like to thank my family and the fans for supporting me and loving me unconditionally as an artist and human being. I wouldn’t be here without you, and I love you very much.” You pause to clear your throat, coming to the end of your speech. “I’m so incredibly thankful and will share this award with the inspiration for this album,” you say, a little breathless when your eyes fall on him.
And Steve is shaking his head while Eddie claps him on the shoulder, his hands coming up to hide his face as a cameraman makes his way to the table.
“The entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart and pried me open.” The room falls to a hush around you, and it’s as if there’s no one there— just you and Steve. “Y’know, sometimes I look at you and can’t believe my luck; that you’re actually real and I get to call you mine,” you laugh, a choked wet thing and will yourself not to fall apart. “You are a stunning, gracious person, and all the rest is just confetti.”
The music swelled and you were ushered off-stage into the press room backstage, along with Hopper and your collaborators. A tech shoves a mic into your hand and kicks it off.
“First question we have is from the Associated Press, take it away.”
“Hi Cherry, and first of all congratulations. How’re you feeling?”
You squint against the bright lights, “Sorry, where are you?”
“To your right.”
You spy a slight woman standing in the press pool. “Gotcha, thanks. I’m, uh, a little overwhelmed to be honest.”
“Understandable, this is the cherry on top of a really successful year for you— a world tour, headlining Coachella, residencies in LA and New York. So, what’s next?”
You sputter a laugh, “That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?” Hop scoffs behind you. “I think the real win for something like this,” you shake the heavy award in your hand, “Is being acknowledged and nominated amongst your peers.”
“Okay, our next question is from The Rolling Stone.”
A man takes the mic and stands somewhere in the center of the crowd. “Let me begin by saying, from all of us at Rolling Stone, a massive congratulations to you Cherry - what an accomplishment!”
Hop claps you on the back with a nod to the reporter, Rob Sheffield.
“Thanks Rob,” you say, ducking at the praise. “Always a pleasure to see you.”
He laughs, “Same to you.” A brief glance down to his notes before he begins, “So much of your music and process ends up pushing other artists and your audience into new places or things they may not have otherwise sought out on their own— Dante’s Inferno, for example, or the use of Irish, Gaeilge, in the lyrics for this album. How do you get to a place like that?”
You let out a low whistle, “Never one to pull punches, are you Rob?” The man in question simply shrugs and winks. “Right. Okay.” You take a deep breath and attempt to gather your thoughts. “I was fortunate to come of age when artists were consistently pushing the envelope— people like Sinead O’Connor, Bowie, Prince— they were the blueprint.” You foist the Grammy off to Hop, the weight of it finally getting to you. “And as far as incorporating a medieval poem and various piece of literature for this album, what can I say? It’s not reinventing the wheel to call upon some of the greatest storytelling in world— Dante literally shaped the modern perception of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. He shifted from writing horny love poetry about a woman he’d seen only twice, to creating a whole new type of poetic verse, celestial love, and elevating her to an impossible echelon. If that’s not devotion, I don’t know what is.”
The mic is passed around the room, a few questions dodged for the sake of privacy— can’t confirm what you don’t acknowledge, as your publicist always says. Steve and Eddie sneak their way in eventually, side-stage and a little more than sloshed, Steve’s tie is askew and Eddie’s blazer is nowhere to be found.
“Our final question comes from The New York Times.”
“Hey Cherry, congratulations my friend, truly well-deserved.”
The voice is familiar, feminine and matter of fact.
“Thanks Nance, you’re too kind.”
“Not at all.” She smiles from her spot in the crowd. “In your acceptance speech, you mentioned the inspiration for the album, and I don’t mean to pry, but you’re a notoriously private person. Why did you feel the need to address that?”
Not a softball question, but definitely something you could handle. Bless Nancy and her carefully strung together words.
“I, uh,” you clear your throat, suddenly nervous. “While I am a private person, which I think is an important facet of interpersonal relationships, regardless of status, I think it’s also crucial to acknowledge that something like this—” you gesture vaguely to your team and those around you, “Can’t be done alone. This is the first album I’ve had cowriters on, that I’ve had other people helping to compose and create the sound. I was an island for so long that I was blind to the fact that I was drowning.”
You hear a faint gasp from somewhere behind you.
“Look, the pandemic took so much from all of us, as a collective, and I wrote most of the songs during that time of isolation and loneliness. But there are songs that speak to the beauty of life and love, even if it ends up not working out in the end. There’s a sadness and a serenity in that.”
Nancy nods for you to continue, pen scribbling furiously.
“So my decision to acknowledge the community of artists and musicians who helped me along the way, as well as the inspiration for this album was my half-assed attempt as a love letter. Love,” you conclude, “Is the only thing that can make life not just bearable, but beautiful.” You take a breath, coming back to yourself, “I think that was an answer to your question? It was words,” you laugh, “A lot of words.”
“Wonderfully said,” Nancy says with a smile on her face. “Thanks for allowing us a peek of that journey.”
You smile and shoot her a wink, exiting stage left where Steve greets you away from the prying eyes of reporters and telephoto lenses. He pulls you close, hands anchoring at your hips, fingers scrambling for a slice of skin.
“You’re driving me crazy,” he breathes, “Who do you think you are, wearing something like this?” He fists the full of the silk skirt, just where it hangs above your crystal-encrusted knees. The Paolo Sebastian team has been more than generous in dressing you for the evening. Black mesh dotted with crystals against your skin, a luscious black silk gown with a high-low bubble hem and tights to match.
Steve was kind of easy like that; the illusion of barely there fabrics, a flash of skin where it mattered most. His hand snakes its way to dig into the plush of your thighs, tender with the promise of something more.
“Oh, this old thing?” You drawl, “If you like this, just wait until you see what I’m wearing for the after-party.”
Eddie scoffs, “Please spare me,” he says, “Well, me and the rest of the press corps who can definitely see you if they lean a little to the left.”
Steve’s hand falls from your leg as he pulls you further down the corridor. “Car is outside, think you can do a quick change en route?” He pushes open one of the stage doors with his free hand, the other firmly grasped in yours.
You arch forward again, the cool night air a relief for your fevered skin, strain yourself to kiss his chin, grazing his throat on the way back down, needing him more urgently each passing minute. “I think I can manage,” you rasp, as the car comes into view, “But the question is, can you?”

5, 15 and 22 for the asks:)
5. What is your favourite music?
I find myself enjoying new wave, post-punk music a lot! The cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche mode, the smiths etc. Outside of that Conan Gray is def my #1 artist, and I listen a lot to Bowie, Hozier, Melanie Martinez and Ghost! Taylor and Lana too ofc
15. What are your top three favourite books and why?
Pride and prejudice, I don't really know how to explain why but I think Darcy is enough of a reason! The book was also very interesting and it completes that beautiful movie well!
Mo dao zu shi, I know it is now out in multiple books but mo dao is actually one big book that is very long. Mdzs has been a big part of my life even before the marauders, I've been in the fandom since 2017 and it just has a big place in my heart. The whole story is just so beautifully written and there are no flaws in the plot at all, I've read the book multiple times and watched the Donghua and the live action at least 10 times too!! Wangxian just has that effect, my OTP really
The third book would be the second book of acotar, acomaf. I know that series got mixed reviews but honestly Im easy to please and hot fictional characters get me, Rhysand got me blushing and kicking my feet, and Feyre too. I just love the second one because it's when things really get interesting!
22. If you could witness any event of the past, present or future, what would it be?
Big broad question I had to think a lot about, I would love to go see a Bowie show in the past, I'm really disappointed I will never see him so definitely that. I would also like to go to my childhood to see events that happened since I have almost no memory of it and seeing my grandpa again would be very dear to me.

An Introduction of myself:
Hello to the world! My name is Grace and I am a part-time barista who always has a song stuck in her head.
I always found it interesting to see what my mind radio picked out for me to listen to and I wanted to share the strange picks and combos with you!
Some fun facts for you guys to get to know me
I am a full-time college student and I just started my second year of college
I am not an avid music listener, I’m not crazy into bands like some of my friends, but I enjoy music and it helps me with discomfort with silence
I might have ADHD, which likely contributes to my strange mind radio
I like to write, which is where my love for soundtracks comes from since I like to listen to movie soundtracks to make sure my mood is correct for writing
I love personality typing systems like the Enneagram or MBTI! I personally am a 9w8 (so/sx subtype) and an ENFJ!
My top three broadway musicals are: Hadestown, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Anastasia (currently, the third one... gets moved around a bit)
My top three Artists are (currently): Taylor Swift, Sleeping At Last, and Hozier!
This used to be my personal blog when I first started and knew nothing about tumblr, but I've since then made that my secondary and was too lazy to make a whole new account to theme my blog haha
I hope that I can possibly get a Spotify account linked in the future and that could probably go here :)
*insert a Spotify link at some point in time*
Thanks for reading if you’ve scrolled down this far! Always feel free to leave an ask, I love to answer questions/talk to people!

i am talking to you about music!!!
top 10 favourite songs? please don’t kill me i know this question is probably hard to answer, i always blank out when someone asks me this
also, favourite artist?
Huiiiioi :)
My favorite songs always vary based on mood and stuff so right now this general week/month I would say
- Bird Balloons by Lady Lamb (beloved pleeaaasee not enough people listen to her and I have no one to brain rot with)
- Jackie and Wilson by Hozier
- Before the Line by dodie
- Hot Mess by dodie
- Southern Star by Gregory Alan Isakov
- First Class by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
- You Taste Like Wine by The Collective
- Tourists by Ezra Bell
- I Love You, Too by Ezra Bell
- You Are the Apple by Lady Lamb
This list isn’t in any sort of order and is by no means comprehensive
Favorite artist has to be dodie there’s absolutely no way I can answer anything else. Lovejoy is a close second and recently Lady Lamb, Ezra Bell, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise have all been included on my list and also Defintely Hozier hope this helps lmao
What are your answers to these questions >:))

okay top 3 artists for a concert would be:
1. Young Fleetwood Mac for obvious reasons like I’m super basic and would absolutely sob my eyes out at a Fleetwood Mac concert. Also Stevie Nicks IS my number one girl crush so seeing her would be *chefs kiss* and everything was so perfect in the 70s, their hay-day. I’d absolutely lose my mind
2. The Lumineers before they got too famous. I’m such a hoe for the Lumineers but I wish I could have been at one of their smaller concerts pre-Cleopatra album. Their first album remains one of their best and seeing them at a small venue and listening to their early stuff would be my literal dream.
3. Queen, for obvious reasons like Freddie Mercury and also Roger Taylor was sexy (but then again, I have a thing for drummers).
What are yours??
I have two lists for different moods! But the one I usually tend to go back to is
Fleetwood Mac for obvious reasons, B.B. King, and hear me out with this one Hozier.
My second rotation is a little louder with The Doors, Queen, and Zeppelin (Ik Ik it’s blasphemy to say in this house hold)
I have a third, a fourth, a fifth but we won’t get into that.

Ooh since you like giving music recs, mind sharing 5 favorite albums? I love getting music recs and finding new artists to listen to!
OOOOOOH okay this is a really good question!! So narrowing it down is proving to be a bit of a challenge so I’m going to make two lists: the first will be what I think are the top 5 best albums ever and the other list being my personal favourite 5 albums at the moment. I think that way I can talk about music I like while also giving recommendations that aren’t purely mainstream stuff :)
Top 5 Best Albums Ever… According To Me
Rumours by Fleetwood Mac - If a group of people cheating on each other can make an album like this and include the most achingly cool and fantastic base lines (in The Chain) then maybe we as a society need to re-evaluate our stance on monogamy
Folklore by Taylor Swift - Genuinely convinced Taylor Swift hit the jackpot writing this because she really honed into an introspective, calmer theme for an album being released in a time where people were in lockdown and had no choice but to sit around and think (or overthink, if you’re like me). It’s honestly just the most consistently good albums ever.
Melodrama by Lorde - One of the best pop albums ever and I will NEVER shut up about it!!! It tells such a cohesive narrative throughout the whole album, keeps these very fitting late night electronic pop beats (with the exception of the low point of Liability in which it’s just a heartbreaking piano melody) and was released at a point where more synthesized music and late night pop and partying was at its peak. A great example of how you can follow trends without sacrificing your sense of lyrical genius.
Voulez-Vous by ABBA - I just love ABBA and I don’t even think I need to say anything else except for their music led to Mamma Mia so…. everyone should love them????
The Stranger by Billy Joel - BILLYYYYYYY. Honestly this album is so underrated but Vienna alone could bring this into any top 5 list. He has a way of not making constant piano melodies annoying, like I listened to the whole thing and did not get sick of the piano. Billy Joel has just such a nostalgic feel to him.
My Personal 5 Favourite Albums Right Now
five seconds flat by Lizzy McAlpine - I’ve had this album on repeat since july and I don’t think my obsession is dying out anytime soon because lizzy mcalpine has suchhhhh a smooth, clear voice and her lyrics rip my heart out!!! it’s amazing!!! I actually had such an urge to gatekeep her in 2020 when her last album “give me a minute” came out but she’s too good to gatekeep tbh. still, I’m convinced nobody will love her like I love her. no one.
Wet Leg by Wet Leg - I know Harry Styles did a cover of one of their songs once but honestly it didn’t compare to the original. this band came out of nowhere and just has such a unique, fun style and I dig it!! It’s just very cool and laidback and “girl who doesn’t give two shits” kind of stuff
Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier - THIS IS SELF-EXPLANATORY. I fucking love Hozier, his lyrics are truly so poetic and I cry from the beauty of it
Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers - again, this album does a really good job of telling a cohesive story from start to finish. Is it a sad story? Absolutely. But it’s also really beautiful, and the classic hot girl depression music.
Coming Home by Leon Bridges - Mr. Leon Bridges truly doesn’t fuck around!! He’s a king when it comes to this genre and honestly River is such a gorgeous song
Also if anyone wants a song rec for a specific feeling or situation they can hop into my inbox because, if I do humbly say so myself, I’m fucking great at that

Sterling and Hozier
I have a confession.
If you had asked me a year ago who Hozier was, my response would've been, "Isn't that a band?"
Yeah, I know. I, too, am shocked by this. Through a combination of life events and my own tendency to hole up in my own little world, I somehow missed the existence of this man for nearly a decade.
Now, the thing is, I don't know if I would have fallen in love with Hozier's music if I wasn't writing Choices when I finally listened to him. That's not to say I wouldn't have enjoyed it—I certainly would have as it scratches a very specific itch in my brain—but I don't know that I would love it. Why is that?
Well.
After Spotify spent a solid month begging me to listen to something other than Mumford and Sons (I fixate on artists and Spotify hates me for it), I gave in to its algorithm and checked out Hozier's artist page. At that time, three of his top five songs were from his first album: "Take Me to Church," "Work Song," and "Cherry Wine." I enjoyed what I heard, so I put on the entire album to give it a spin.
By the end of the second song, "Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene," I had stopped everything else I was doing, pulled up the lyrics, and sat down to listen to the album in its entirety.
Listening to it, I felt like I'd run into Sterling at the saloon, and he'd decided to pour out his life story to me. Each song reflected some aspect of his character/background/personality that I had in my head but hadn't necessarily made it onto the page yet. "Sedated" and "Cherry Wine," in particular, resonated with how I imagined his prior relationship with Kai (his ex before moving home). This shows up in my most recent chapter of Choices: Summer, and even more so in Choices: Fall as a whole.
More in-depth thoughts on individual tracks (and spoilers for Sterling's mod) beneath the cut:
Honestly, of all the songs on the album, "Take Me to Church" resonates the least for me when it comes to Sterling, outside of how utterly devoted he becomes to whomever he falls in love with. But really, "Work Song" hits those notes better as it reflects how much he wants/needs something, someone, to show him grace.
"Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene," "Jackie and Wilson," and "Someone New" jive so well with how I envision his mentality/how he presented himself to people in Zuzu City. He was just around to get fucked anyway he could, man.
"Sedated," meanwhile, shows the contrast/conflict between that desire to distract himself and his wish that someone would give him a reason to leave all that behind. The echo of the bridge behind the final chorus sounds so much like him begging for Kai to save him from himself even as he seduces Kai into that very lifestyle.
"Cherry Wine," on the other hand, is a reflection not only of how Kai treated Sterling, but also how Sterling treated Kai in the end. Sterling has two lines in his mod that directly influenced this interpretation (and it is definitely an interpretation, not explicitly stated. I more thoroughly explore this idea in Fall):
"Look, you're incredibly cute and all darling. And I really enjoy hitting it off with you but… I can't do relationships right now. Not after Kai… I don't ever want to be that toxic person again. Not to you. Never to you."
That's one of the options for how he responds if you offer him a bouquet after reaching 4 hearts. This next tidbit, however, is a bit of dialogue that can pop up in the saloon:
"Is there a lucky someone in your life, farmer? There's been a few in my own life, though I'd say lucky is the operating word. I'd guess it's a bad combination of attracting toxic people when you're a bit of a toxic person yourself. Sorry, just thinking about my ex. He was a really nice guy, broke up with him before I moved to the valley. It was honestly for the best, the best thing I could do for him that is."
Sterling has so many issues. I love him.
"To Be Alone," could honestly reflect his thoughts/emotions towards either Kai or Callie, depending at on what point in their respective relationships you viewed them from. "From Eden" and "It Will Come Back," however, are very much how he views Callie and his emotional attraction to her. While he knows better than to view her as pure or innocent the way he did Kai in the beginning, he still puts her on a pedestal as someone Good and thinks that all he'd do is sully or break her. Yet, he cannot resist wanting what she represents.
"Like Real People Do" is very much the soundtrack for Sterling and Callie's night together in chapter 18 of Choices: Spring.
But "Work Song" really is the culmination of how Sterling feels about Callie, though Choices will take a long, long time to reach a point where he can even admit it to himself.
(Side Note–I picked an opportune moment to discover Hozier for the record: almost exactly one month before Unreal Unearth came out. I spent two weeks memorizing his first album, another two weeks memorizing Wasteland, Baby!, and then dove head first into Unreal Unearth upon release. Saw him in concert three months later, and plan to see him again for my upcoming birthday.)
If you're interested in how I relate other characters of Choices with specific albums, check here.

prime numbers!
I did have a moment where I temporarily forgot what a prime number is and I think somewhere in the middle of my old high school my college algebra teacher felt a sudden sense of disappointment
2 an artist you rediscovered recently
Another mutual got me into the band Hey Calypso.
3 a song you've learned to sing/play
I’m going to be honest, I genuinely think the last song I learned to sing was Hear It for The Boy from the footloose musical soundtrack.
5 top album
Revolution Radio by Green Day. I was asked this one earlier too, and on some reflection I do think Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me! makes a very close second
7 favorite short song
Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill.
11 song that you dont agree with but is just so good
Scotty Doesn’t Know. Maddie Ross has a lesbian cover on Spotify.
13 artist that doesn't fit your typical style/genre but you like anyway
I’m a huge Stars fan. They’re way more like low-fi indie rock than what people associate with me but I grew up listening to them because my mom and her sister love them.
17 favorite love song
I genuinely consider Church On Sunday by Green Day to be a love song. Close second is In A Week by Hozier
19 non love song you would still play at a wedding
In Our Bedroom After the War by Stars. It’s a good slow dance beat, provided you don’t look into the sad lyrics
23 a song to study to
I have an entire 5+ hour playlist of just Green Day songs that I default to when trying to get things done. However, when I was still in school I used to play Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns on loop

SPOTIFY WRAPPED 2K23! | multi.
Tumblr media
↳ toji fushiguro, satoru gojo, suguru geto, kento nanami, choso kamo, megumi fushiguro, yuji itadori, nobara kugisaki, maki zen'in, toge inumaki, yuta okkotsu, yuki tsukumo, Mai Zen'in.
JJK characters and their top artist/top song!
a/n; idk if anyone has done this before or not, but this idea came to me in the form of a shower thought. I tried to be as accurate as possible, but it can also be a little ooc! enjoy <3
Tumblr media
Satoru Gojo's top artist was Taylor Swift but he tells people it's playboi carti. His top song was Style by Taylor Swift, and once again, he lies and tells people it's Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home) by Usher, which is somewhat true, because it's his second top song. He loves to sing it on top of his lungs whenever he sees his students, and Yuji and Yuta are the only ones who appreciate his musical genius.
Suguru Geto's top artist was The Weeknd, because every Taylor Swift Bestie (see above) needs his Weeknd best friend (secret lover😱). Plus he's shamelessly in the top 0.8% listeners worldwide. His top song was House Of Balloons/Glass Table Girls. His second top artist was Mitski, because even he can't count how many times he had listened to My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski, and no matter how many times he listens to it, he's on the verge of crying every. single. time. I'm sure you know why.
Kento Nanami's top artist was Hozier, although he rarely listens to music, especially on spotify, but whenever he does, he's playing From Eden by Hozier, which in turn, becomes his top streamed song. Satoru is shocked by how the overall minutes Kento has listened to music is not even 1/4th of how much the former has listened.
Toji Fushiguro's iPhone 4 does not have enough space to download Spotify and he's too broke to get a new phone. He peacefully listens to music on his radio that is older than WWII. However, if he did have Spotify, his top artist would probably be AC/DC because he's a man of culture (it's the only artist his old ass radio plays)
Choso Kamo's entire playlist is based on what Yuji/Yuki listen, but if he were to say personally, he absoluetly loves Frank Ocean, and has listened to Pyramids by Frank Ocean (yes, the 9 minute song) for over 1450 minutes, that's approximetly 2 whole days. Nonstop. However his top song Novacane, and you do NOT want to know for how long he's been listening to it on repeat.
Megumi Fushiguro is a canon Weezer stan but I personally like to think he drabbles a little bit into Nirvana/Radiohead as well. His top artist was Weezer (what a shock) and that's been the same for like 5 continious years now. We get it Megumi. His top song however, was Something In The Way by Nirvana. (he thinks he's batman or whatever)
Yuji Itadori unironically listens to Drake, and you can bet Sukuna is a nanosecond away from bashing his head against a wall. As per Yuji, Drake's songs pump him with adrenaline, and his top song is One Dance by Drake, and he's not ashamed to tell it to people. Go Yuji!
Nobara Kugisaki is a devoted Doja Cat listener, because according to her, Doja's songs make her feel prettier than she already is. Infuriatingly (as per megumi) plays Juicy everytime she's getting ready, and the volume is enough for everyone in a 10 meter range to hear. Suprisingly, her top song was IT GIRL by Aliyah's Interlude, because she is, in fact, the it girl.
Maki Zen'in refuses to tell anyone who her top artist is, and well, everybody is too scared to push her to reveal who it is. Nobara concludes it's probably Tame Impala or TV Girl. She's right, they're both in her top 5 artists, but on the top? It's TV girl. It's melachonic, and she loves the vibe. She's often laying on her bed, earphones plugged in and listening to Blue Hair by TV girl. Her top song was Eventually by Tame Impala, and you can't really blame her.
Toge Inumaki's music taste is well, questionable. He listens to Kanye West, 21 Savage and Odetari. Weird combination, but hey, it's his choice. And he's a menace, which explains his music taste. He probably blasts Odetari while fighting curses, background music, if you will. His top artist was 21 Savage, and his top song was Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 by Kanye West, and it's explainable. That song slaps (don't cancel me pls☝️😊)
Yuta Okkotsu listens to depressing music because he's a self proclaimed emo. And when I say depressing music, I mean Mitski and Phoebe Bridgers. His top artist? Mitski. Last year it was Phoebe Bridgers, it's a battle between the two, who makes it to the top of his wrapped honestly. His top song would've been something depressing like I Know The End by Phoebe Bridgers, but it wasn't. It was ONLY by LeeHi, thanks to Maki (he says the song is what he'd dedicate to Maki.) He also listens to Olivia Rodrigo with Rika, and she'd like to dedicate the Sour album to Maki and Yuta <3
Yuki Tsukumo's top artist was Childish Gambino. She started listening to him because she found Donald Glover hot (who wouldn't) but damn did his songs accend her to another plane. Sad? Listen to Childish Gambino. Happy? Listen to Childish Gambino. Horny? Listen to Childish Gambino. That's her mantra. Choso doesn't understand any of his songs whenever Yuki's singing them, and always finds their literal meanings. Poor guy. Her top song was Les, and she's yelling the song on top of her lungs everytime Choso is around her.
Mai Zen'in is a Lana Del Rey girl to her core, and it shows. Everything about her is so Lana Del Rey, from her sense of styling and to her personality. She's the type of girl to make up scenarios in her head while listening to Lana, zoning out to the point Momo has to shake her to get her back to reality. Her top song was Pretty When You cry by Lana Del Rey, because she is infact, pretty when she cries.

🎵, 🍊, 🧚‍♀️ & 🌺
🎵favorite artists: DEAR GOD SO MANY LOL. My top three, with one always changing, is Florence and the Machine, and Saint Motel being the ones who always stay, and rn my third top artist is Matt Maltese. I also dabble in Hozier, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Thumpasaurus, WOOZE, Mitski etc. My music taste is basically whatever sounds nice to my ears. Always open to new artists!
🍊favorite season: I tend to struggle to the answer of this one cause every season comes with its pros and cons. Generally I default to summer as its my birthday season and my best memories are in summer, but dear god I'm so sensitive to heat I tend to melt lol. Winter will probably be at the bottom of the list for... death related reasons lol (but I still also adore snow and the beauty that comes with winter)
🧚‍♀️favorite characters of all time: Again, I have so many dear god. Majima from Yakuza immediately comes to mind, he's a fave period due to his complexities. There's also Sanji from One Piece, Sam from LOTR, Miles Morales from Spider-Man, Might Gai from Naruto, Link from Zelda, Peter Pan and Wendy...There's an endless list up here lol
🌺what is the best gift someone has ever given you and why is it so important?: Well, I actually have two things in mind. They're both jewelry but I love them a lot. The first one, which isn't exactly a gift-gift but I immediately knew she wanted me to have it, is my great grandmothers ring. My mom had it on her on her death bed, and I slipped it off her finger along with her wedding rings and just sort of. Knew she started wearing it because she knew I'd be the one at her side. So I put it on and my cousin was like "you'll have to wear that forever now you know" and I did. What aches me sometimes is that it's a perfect fit, too. Not too big nor too small. Crazy stuff lol
On the second one, I bought my friend a music box for their birthday and they bought me in return this lovely glass butterfly necklace. Butterflies hold a lot of significance to me as I had a spiritual experience with one (during my grandfather's funeral a butterfly flew around me and then flew away. I felt frozen but at peace, and I hold to this day that it was him saying goodbye) and now my mother's urn has them, too. I don't wear it as often as I should but I wear it when I can.
