i've seen another comment mention this but i think it's so neat how (technically) the same person can turn out so differently depending on who and how they were raised (which is like basic developmental psychology 101 and generally just common sense, but like WHATEVER ASGHDJHAS), and seeing those massive differences between blu and red scout's behaviours is so interesting!!!

like i LOVE how blu scout isn't nearly as caring as red scout, and the fact he smokes because he was influenced by blu spy since he mostly raised him is soooo cool. he's sm more like his dad, whereas red scout is a lot more like his ma, which makes sense cuz in the same fashion as blu scout, he was mostly raised by her.

i've always been a fan of this kind of stuff. also, i think its so funny that one of the same things that they both share r the trashy magazines they read 😭😭😭 AND I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN I REALISED WHAT BLU SCOUT WAS READING BAHAHHA (i was gonna doodle it rn and post it here but i wanted to get this done insteaddd,, maybe another time hehe)

Coriolanus Snow and Anakin Skywalker are perfect examples of really interesting characters who had every chance to do the right thing but repeatedly chose wrong even though they were surrounded by good people, all because they had one person whispering in their ear and convincing them to be selfish and to hurt people instead. There is no point where they have to do what they do, it’s their choices that make them compelling.

They’re also both incredibly controlling over the women they claim to love but are quick to try and physically harm them when they realise that they’re actually human beings who will not blindly follow them. It’s very clear they were possessive, not actually in love. To sincerely love is to respect someone’s agency and neither of them were capable of that.

Another trait they both share is that, despite being layered and well written but fundamentally flawed characters who turn to evil by their own free will, if you cast an attractive actor to play them, there are always going to be people who blindly ignore the entire plot just to defend them and justify their actions. Being a victim of abuse or oppression does not excuse you from being a perpetrator.

putting this at the top because it's extremely important but i received a message implying that some folks headcanon these two as drastically different ages. you may headcanon whatever you like of course, but in my work i firmly think that they're both full adults who are at least 25+. this is abundantly clear in my work. i'm not interested in headcanoning any of them as literal children and i would never touch that shit. dni if you think that sort of ship would actually be okay. don't be a freak. thanks.

very typical to take your favs and then also shove them together but isn't that the point. anyway i have literally never seen anybody else ship them (if you're out there... hello... 😭) despite them both being very main characters and i don't know why?? they could be so cute i think...

they are both industrious adventurers, prolific hard-workers (team task doers), and a little cheekily competitive!

i think that bandee is no stranger to a wide variety of close and intense relationships; he's beloved by many and loves them all equally but distinctly in turn. magolor on the other hand has been sooo isolated and lonely for such a long-ass time, he barely knows how to be friends let alone really care for someone. bandee is smart enough to be suitably wary but kind enough to give him a chance despite that, which i think would knock him off his non-existent feet instantly. in reply, magolor could give him something unique by loving and prioritising him utterly singularly, in a way bandee wouldn't even have realised he was missing

in awtdy (pictured in the sketch page; if you see a tattered looking magolor in my art it's probably this au) in particular they are both thrown into the angst soup together and come out insanely trauma bonded at the hip. their friendship/relationship is central to the plotline; together they're working on a solution to the timeline anomaly, while also hiding that they even really know each other the whole time

Fun fact I really love bathatter it's so horribly tragic. In my au a long while after Jervis tries to force a wedding with his beloved Alice after escaping Arkham he starts to slowly project his affections onto Batman, one of the few people who have given him kindness despite constantly throwing him in Arkham time and time again. Although it's clear that he is by no means over Alice as he often slips and calls Batman "Alice."

Jervis doesn't make much of an attempt to hide his affections for the caped crusader but Batman is dense and clearly uninterested romantically although he cares a great deal for the hatter. Batman confronts her about how unhealthy this is to be obsessing again over an individual who isn't interested and it shatters her heart she can't take being rejected once again. She is an incredibly lonely person who is in love with the idea of love and is convinced the only way someone would be able to love her is if she makes them.

Needless to say, Jervis holds a grudge against Batman for a long time afterwards. This doodle was inspired by the song gimme all ur love by hemlocke springs it's so undeniably Jervis coded!!

stoic illiterate unwilling assassin deeply in love with unfailingly kind rich sad gay man almost stabs his crush's brother because the brother cares so much and so genuinely for the gay man that he searched assassin's room out of worry and found knives and a mysterious letter before being interrupted by the assassin who then does not want to show him the letter which seems incredibly suspicious, only for a later scene (after the gay man interrupts them and thus stops any escalation from happening) to quietly reveal that the very sus letter in possession of this illiterate assassin is not in fact a sign he's lying about being illiterate.... it's just two pages of him practicing the gay man's name over and over in neatly spaced lines...... a reveal which he was going to STAB a man over because he doesn't know that the gay man's brother knows the man is gay and loves him with his whole heart and would never ever do anything to hurt him........ i will never get over this, how could i ever get over this, everything else ever is going to be downhill from here
