ABC Fanart Challenge time! Got a bunch of suggestions from a bunch of my friends so I'll be putting my results in this thread :D

Hi there! Can I please request (separate) Fyodor, Nikolai, and Sigma with a reader who has a teleportation ability and loves to use it to tickle/tease them? There's no way you're sneaking up on Fyodor or Nikolai unless you have a teleportation ability, let's be honest XD. The kicker is that reader can just teleport away before the characters can get revenge and that makes for some very funny scenarios. Feel free to decline, I know my request is a tad strange XD

Computer light falling onto a silhouette could be seen upon looking into the room, Fyodor Dostoevsky was sitting in front of the many screens, planning his ever-so-successful plan to get rid of ability users. Not moving much for some time, one could mistake him for a statue instead, that's until he slightly jumped from feeling fingers moving along his sides.

Quiet giggling was all he heard when turning around, trying to catch the figure behind him, but unsuccessful upon the person disappearing before the dark-haired man could even touch them.

Fyodor’s ever so lovely s/o, you, have always loved doing little tricks to see just how much can you be unpredictable, even to this man ever since you noticed he doesn’t mind them… that much, at least.

Listen, Fyodor really doesn’t mind you having fun with your ability here and there, but is it really too much to ask to organize things in peace? In your book, it seems it is.

Fyodor has some things written down on paper, and only one copy, as he believes it’s better to not keep some things on his computer. As much as it is un-hackable, his words he wants to be safe just in case. Better be safe than sorry, but it would be so much faster and easier to organize if papers didn’t change their place the moment his eyes were even slightly averted from them, if folders didn’t change their places, or more, if you didn’t mess with his stuff.

The rat placed the paper on the table and turned away to get a folder? A little quiet sound could be heard behind him. Turning around, the paper is gone as if it wasn’t there in the first place and is on the other side of the room. He turns back around to get the folder, but now that is gone too and is under a table.

Whether it’s papers that are moved around. From changing tables to even being moved to different folders, to folders that were perfectly organized in alphabetical order being all messed up. Every time he turns away, you would teleport in, take a folder out of the shelf, and teleport away. After a moment you would teleport back into a random ass place and place it there. The worst is that you do it not only when he organizes stuff, but also randomly on days he doesn't. 

Really, the organizing would be so much faster if he had peace… sad that he doesn’t.

ཐིཋྀ In turn, he may be doing his braid in the morning and feel a tug on the back of HIS hair, and only then noticing your already disappearing figure in the mirror behind him, not giving him a chance to even turn around😭

Morning sun rays fell upon the figure sitting in front of the mirror in the room. Nikolai was sitting quietly, still half asleep as it was around 7 am and he woke up not too long ago. The white-haired man was making his braid with closed eyes, the hand manner practically natural by now, in the quiet room. 

That was before he felt a slight tug on the back of his head, He opened his eyes in a fast movement, managing to catch only one thing in the mirror reflection behind him, the gentle light that comes with his s/o, you, using their ability.

A quiet sigh from the man could be heard in the room, a gentle smile on his face that he couldn’t stop from appearing.

“You just couldn’t stop yourself from doing that, huh, Dove?” Nikolai spoke knowing you were still in the room,  as well as he noticed that he had to redo most of the braid he had done till now.

“It’s revenge for what you did last week, Kolya”

“I don’t know what you are talking about”

“Hmm… I also don’t know what I’m talking about when I say I won’t be baking the cookies you wanted”

“Wait!-”

That certainly woke him up.

ཐིཋྀ He, in turn, scared you while you were out with a friend people stared at you two like you had 2 heads after screaming in the middle of the sidewalk for seemingly no reason

You and Nikolai were visiting Sigma at the Sky Casino, although you disappeared around half an hour after the two of you got there. To where? A good question that the white head doesn't have an answer to. 

"I'm telling you no is my answer." 

"But are you sure it's your final answer?" 

"Yes.. or wait-" 

Good ol' doubt in an answer for Nikolai's quiz. He just needs to wait till Sigma says the wrong answer and he will be able to-

Whirling around or looking ahead, depending on the male, both noticed a book on the ground, a piece of literature the bi-colored-haired Man could swear he didn't have in his office.

Sigma stood up and slowly walked over to the book on the ground, he bent down to pick it up. Just as he straightened up, a sound of something hitting the floor sounded throughout the office. Looking back at the desk behind the males, a folder the younger of the two was working on beforehand, was lying on the floor.

“Is all the stuff in my office gonna be falling down or appearing out of thin air now?”

Just as Sigma spoke, the sound of something heavier, like the book from earlier, flew across the office, and then a sigh was heard right after.

“I think so, dear friend!”

Nikolai was acting cocky for the next few minutes as things would fall or appear out of nowhere, thinking that you are playing with only Sigma for fun. He realized it was you when the folder fell off the desk, but what he didn’t realize, was that he wasn’t safe at all.

He should’ve remembered that you absolutely love to play around with him by doing something to his hair, so he should’ve expected the tug on his hair from the back or the feeling of his hat gone from his head that came next.

And he couldn’t do anything even if he whirled around immediately, as your figure disappeared in gentle light just as he did so.

“Goddammit.”

“Told you to look around.”

“But Sigma!!! I thought-”

The bi-hair-colored man entered his office quietly. It was quite dark, as the sun already started to set some time ago. He wondered what you, his lovely s/o, were doing at the moment as you insisted on staying in the main room earlier during your small talk with Sigma after spotting him walking around.

Upon laying his eyes on his desk once he got close enough, Sigma noticed that some things were moved around. The paper that he was writing on before got moved up by 8 centimeters, exactly 2 papers from the right got moved to the far left of the desk, in exchange, 3 papers from the left got moved to the place the 2 papers from the right were in before, he also had 3 files on his desk before, but now there was  5, and none of them being the 2 that were there before.

The reason behind that wasn’t hard to guess.

“You still here, dear?”

But it also wasn’t hard to guess that you stayed close by.

“Of course!” The response came with you appearing behind him, and together with a light tickling feeling on his neck.

…He had to start his work all over again.

…At least you brought cookies though.

He was just trying to comb his hair, but no, of course, his comb was not where it was meant to be, and of course, the spare one was missing as well.

His stuff had been going missing before being found in the most random places possible. Sigma didn’t want to assume his beloved was at fault, but at the same time, this was happening way too much lately.

His heels? Moved from the hallway to the kitchen.

The glass of water he left on the counter? Found in his office, once he got there.

Once, all of his hairbands went missing, and he found every single one of them placed around in books, folders, cabinets, and even under papers he left on his desk.

The bi-colored-haired man decided to speak up with a slightly louder tone, in case you were somewhere in a farther corner of the apartment.

“[Name]?”

“Yes, cotton?”

He decided to ignore that he jumped a little at your surprise entrance behind him. Should’ve expected you wouldn’t use the door.

“Do you know where my comb is?”

A hum came from you. “No. Why do you ask?”

“Can’t find it. Thought you would know.”

“Going into assuming right away, aren’t we?”

It’s not that the man doesn’t trust you, but you’ve done little tricks like this so many times that no one could blame him if they tried. The teasing tone in your voice didn't help the situation.

“Can you blame me?”

“...No.”

“...You have it, don’t you?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Hey, Sam, I just received the omnibus from Lulu and, uh, got something a little different than I expected--not the Shivadh books! Harry Potter fic, in fact, but also not yours! I am the unexpected recipient of the entire All the Young Dudes series by MsKingBean89, whoever that is! All dressed up in your dust jacket/binding. I'm letting Lulu know, but I wanted to warn you just in case this wasn't a one-off problem. The fact that it was Sirius/Remus fic but *not yours* made it extra weird.

This is amazing. It took me like an hour to even get my thoughts in order about this.

Before I do anything else, just gonna tag @lobsterbang in this; that's MsKingBean89's tumblr and while I understand she's not on here very often if she does see this hopefully it will amuse her as much as it does me. :D

So, one, if anyone else has encountered this or similar issues, PLEASE report it to Lulu and get your book replaced, these hardbacks are too expensive for this kind of nonsense. On that note, @joycesully I hope they send you a new copy and let you keep the book you've got, because that's hilarious. If they give you flak, please let me know.

Two, did the dust jacket like...fit the book? Because the number of coincidences that would have to happen for you to receive All The Young Dudes in place of the Shivadh Omnibus are numerous. But they BEGIN with "Are they roughly the same size because the omnibus is a giant doorstop." If it's formatted with page numbering, how many pages is the print copy of ATYD, around 600 or so? Is it printed to the size of the Omnibus but with a bunch of blank pages or anything like that? (More on why I ask this in a moment.) Is the dust jacket offset weirdly in any way, like is the spine title not centered on the spine?

Three, I have had this issue with Lulu before. Most notably, the time I ordered a bunch of copies of Charitable Getting and instead got 25 copies of Chicks Dig Guys That Cook, a cookbook by a guy who cooks (and presumably either gets laid a lot or lies about getting laid a lot). But also I once custom-made a hardback copy of Nameless by request, and the book came with a) the Nameless dust jacket, b) the text of Nameless inside it, c) AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TITLE printed on the spine. How? Who knows.

Four: So there are a couple of ways this could have happened. I'm not sure of the legality of uploading a fanfic to Lulu for printing, but I do know that Lulu doesn't give a shit and won't check, so whether it's legal it is possible to upload a fanfic to Lulu and have them send you a nice hardbound copy of it. Almost certainly nothing will happen as long as you're not selling copies publicly. This is clearly how Lulu got the presumably typeset and formatted file for ATYD. Now, the easiest way this could have happened, since they're not alphabetically close, is if I had uploaded a copy of ATYD and the files got crossed when they printed your copy of The Shivadh Omnibus. I didn't do this; I don't keep paper copies of fanfics and while I've heard ATYD is great, I haven't read it.

The funniest part of all of this, sidebar, is that ATYD is not just a Remus/Sirius fanfic, it's one of the top R/S fanfics ever, possibly one of the most famous fanfics in recent history. It's frequently recommended alongside Stealing Harry as a must-read classic (it's undoubtedly recommended more than Stealing Harry, but they often pop up together). So you didn't just get a random HP fanfic that isn't mine, you got the direct spiritual successor to Stealing Harry.

Anyway, I didn't upload it, but it's possible that someone else was like "Well, as long as I'm going to buy the ominbus, why don't I print myself my favorite fanfic as a book?" The most likely explanation is that someone did this and their order went in around the time yours did, and somehow you got their copy shoved into your dust jacket, while they presumably got two copies of the Omnibus instead of one Omnibus and one ATYD. That's why I'm curious about the dust jacket, because they would have to be similar in size for this mistake to take place. (If one of you out there ordered ATYD and got two Omnibi instead, I'd love to hear from you, feel free to get in touch, I promise not to narc to anyone.)

If that's not the case, it's a series of truly baffling coincidences; someone must have uploaded ATYD, and either the manuscript file got crossed with the Shivadh Omnibus file randomly and that fic got printed inside the covers of my book, or a copy of ATYD was printed around the same time a copy of the Shivadh Omnibus was by coincidence, and their jackets randomly got swapped. The odds of an extremely famous fanfic getting digitally swapped with a non-fanfic by the author of a similarly situated but entirely unaffiliated fanfic are pretty low if there wasn't a third person in the mix somewhere, ordering both at the same time.

I just. For you to order a non-fanfic book by a well-known HP fanfic author, and receive someone else's extremely well-known HP fanfic instead, is fucking bananas. I don't know what to do with that. I feel like I should apply for a job at whatever press Lulu uses to print their books because some of the nonsense they pull behind the scenes is fascinating.

. . . boyfriend! diluc, who leaves you little notes at the winery for you to find. sometimes, his duties call earlier than he'd want them to (much to his dismay, if he decides he hasn't spent enough tine with you yet). on those days when he'll have to leave at dawn without being able to give you so much as a goodbye, he takes time to scribble down a message for you before he takes off. messages of love, little reminders, a brief on where he's going and why-- anything he can to show you that he still cares no matter where on teyvat he goes.

. . . boyfriend! gorou, who likes laying on your lap after a long day of training. at first, you teased him for it, saying his dog genes were getting the best of him, but after a while you noticed he genuinely seemed comfortable with you that way. more often than not he'd fall asleep, even. kokomi explains it as him seeing you as his comfort person, that he'd be at ease when he was with you despite how tired he'd be from duties as general. you found this phenomenon quite adorable.

. . . boyfriend! heizou, who claims he can think more clearly and work much better when you're by his side. a childish claim from he who claims to be the best detective in the world, but he couldn't care any less. he always manages to make up an excuse for you to come along on his cases. when investigating, sometimes he asks for stupid things under the guise of asking for your help. holding his hand so he can lead the both of you closer to the answer? undoubtedly logic in his eyes! grabbing you by the waist to keep you near him so you won't get lost? don't see the problem with that! kissing his forehead so his genius brain can work better? ...alright, maybe that will take him a bit too out of commission to focus on the case.

. . . boyfriend! itto, who has the ataraki gang help him to set up your dates. knowing him, he won't allow anything involving you to be simple and sweet, no no, he's all about extravagance! only the best for the love of his life, he says! last minute planning and execution with the arataki gang has become a recurring factor when it's his turn to decide on dates and the nature of them. admittedly, they don't quite always go well... maybe a little fire here from burning food they cooked, or a horrible attempt of a live musical performance going south because of the members sheer lack of skill... but it's the thought and effort that counts! and they certainly have a lot of that ♡

. . . boyfriend! thoma, who always makes you handmade and homemade gifts. whether it's a little origami craft he learned how to make, a pastry he got the recipe of recently, or a flower crown with blossoms he picked himself while out to do errands-- he's willing to give anything he can to you. they aren't just random little trinkets either, not for him at least. each one he makes with the intention of giving it to you first and foremost. love and care are carefully put into the craft, and you always get first look when he tries something new. after all, you deserve nothing but the best in his eyes!

. . . boyfriend! venti, who embarrasses you by singing songs he wrote for you in public. as a bard, he considers it his duty to entertain the people of his city, but does he really need to make it obvious who his songs are for specifically? he sings with such a smile on his face that you know he knows what he's doing, annoying bastard. his excuse? well, he wants to proclaim to the whole world his love for you! songs dedicated to you will reach across the seas of teyvat and be sung till the end of time, he promises. for as long as his music lives and his lyrics never die from peoples memory, memoirs of his love for you will live for ages to come.

. . . boyfriend! xiao, who never fails to make time for you. work as a yaksha is terribly busy-- even when there aren't any demons around liyue to eradicate, he spends a great amount of his days patrolling and protecting the nation however he can. but still, he makes sure that his work doesn't keep him away from you for too long. he isn't quite used to this relationship thing, and frankly might not know his way around making you feel loved, but he tries. even the simple moments of rest he has with you he appreciates, he can only hope you feel the same.

. . . boyfriend! zhongli, who takes you out to gorgeous places in liyue. barely anyone would have discovered otherwise. he has governed this land for a great many centuries, and in turn have seen the rise and fall of many beautiful places due to change in geographical landscapes. but still, he's bound to have a few with beauty preserved throughout the years, and he's more than happy to take you to all of them. on top of tourist worthy spots, he sometimes brings a bit of food, wine,  and flowers to present to you on these dates, as well as a great many stories if where you're visiting to keep you both entertained.

Believe it or not, I see you as a classic romantic man. He became a gentleman and would take you on a date like dinner and then to a place of lush natural scenery (like a meadow where you can see the city and the sky). He has been training speech for at least a month and starting to say that he is very happy to have met you and then to say how he feels about you.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

HELL YEAH! Even with his insecurities; Laxus can't help but smile at eternizing your bond and seeing you two at the altar, swearing your wedding vows and exchanging rings. About how he will propose the classic dinner before he kneels in front of you and shows the ring while ordering. Later he organizes a dinner for his parents to ask for his blessing and he certainly did the same with Makarov (or he would have trouble not asking permission from the guild master to be able to marry you! LMAO).

N icknames - What do they call their s / o?

Baby, babe, my love and bae are classics and his favorites. When he feels a little more sentimental he can call you "my life". Sometimes when you do something badass he can't help it and simply yells “this is my Storm”! (Sorry for the stupid pun ... 😂🤣)

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

Difficult for anyone to notice, he manages to disguise himself most of the time. Those who are more intuitive and who know him well (* cough * Makarov * cough *) can see him being softer or how his eyes light up when you're around.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s / o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He doesn't like to show affection in public, but he only does it if you are comfortable and want it with that. He is a gentleman now and your comfort is his priority. But if Laxus notices someone with bad intentions while looking at you, he keeps you close and discreetly looks at that person as he passes the message "make the wrong move and you will deal with me, I dare you" and it is enough to chase away those who are evil .

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He became an empath understandable as hell! He perceives the signs when you are not well and needs someone to vent or simply a hug or time alone.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s / o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

I already said in “Love Cofession” that he is a classic romantic guy, but he can be a mess in that regard at the beginning of the relationship and tries not to appeal to the cliché. Sometimes he can be innovative to surprise you, but the main thing is that you are happy and that is all that matters to him.

S upport - Are they helping their s / o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

What kind of partner would he be if he didn't support you? He believes and helps you to pursue your dreams and will be there when you feel frustrated.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

Laxus is a classic romantic guy, but he is also quite open to trying something new. But he won't hesitate to say it if he finds it dangerous for you.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

You hit the lottery, because this man seems to know you almost as well as you know yourself. A few signs that he sees may indicate that you are not well and he looks at whether to intervene immediately or approach with caution. The last thing he wants is to make what you're feeling worse.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

“Nickname” answers what I need to write here! You are his life, his light, his priceless treasure that can never be replaced. He literally risks his own life for you.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

This big guy can be intimidating, but he's a boy's love and perfect for cuddling  up! After having a nightmare? He will be your teddy bear! Bad day? His arms are a fortress of comfort. Is someone intimidating you? You can hide behind him while he gives the bastard a frightening look.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

Not in public, but be behind closed doors that you will be choked by his muscle mass and by so many hugs for long hours. He becomes a giant teddy bear.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

He can handle it reasonably, but sometimes he asks himself how you are doing and if everything is fine on the mission you decided to do. Those closest to you notice that he gets a little restless when you go on missions. Whenever you come back and if it had a tail, it would be swinging like a puppy happy to see its owner again.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

I don't think I need to say much if you remember what I said in "G", "H", "I", "M", "S", "U" and "V". Do you still need more reasons to love this big guy? Stop wasting time and go be happy with him!

Mista has a super adventurous personality and this also shows in the activities that you two take part in. He always likes to do things that others would usually think of as silly, like going to the zoo. But! He always finds a way to make it entertaining and unforgettable. (Who wants to hold the baby kangarooooo)

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He loves your laugh, and whenever he gets to hear it, it feels like the best reward for him. While he may have flirted with his fair share of girls in the past, looks aren't most important to him. In order to get you rolling around on the floor, he'll have to pull out the big guns, of course. Sometimes he'll tag team with Narancia to pull pranks just to get a rise out of you.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Mista absolutely hates when you're sad because that also makes him feel sad. When he sees you sulking on the couch, he joins you, wrapping his large arms around you. He'll keep asking you why you're sad while sticking out his lower lip, (which was absolutely lethal for you). Soon after, you forgot why you were down in the dumps, which was Mista's main goal the whole time.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

He's a romantic, so he's always thinking about the future and what it will bring in regards to his love life. Within a few years of dating, he'll already want to move in and get a dog. Maybe two dogs, who knows. He sees marriage, children, grandchildren...all of it.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Mista can be pretty stubborn in certain situations. He will make the plans for dates and activities that the two of you can enjoy. He'll always ask you for your input, of course. Overall, the balance of power in the relationship is equal.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

Mista can be a little childish when disagreements are involved. There's a possibility that he'll use humor to get out of a sticky situation, but don't let him get away with this all the time. If he's in the wrong let him know, or else things can get blown out of proportion easily.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

Mista thanks you for the companionship and happiness that you've brought into his life. You are the longest relationship that he's had in quite some time given his current line of work, and he loves that you have the patience to stick around with him. Even though his stand keeps him company most of the time, he's glad to share time with another human.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

Mista is very honest with you. Whether it be where he's going on a mission (sometimes, Bruno yells at him for telling you this), or telling you about his past before joining the organization, he's very transparent with you. You appreciate this, and make sure that you do the same. Hardly any secrets are kept between you.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

Like R mentions 👀, you inspire him to keep himself clean. Of course, a normal person would want to keep up with appearances but Mista is a very special guy.... While he was cheerful before the relationship he's over the moon when he sees you and prioritizes your time together.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Mista will be quiet, which is very uncharacteristic of him. His stand will always manifest and say whatever he’s thinking, probably along the lines of taunting and verbally harassing the person you’re talking to before they eventually grow frustrated and walk away. The Pistols would cheer, celebrating their victory.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Mista's kisses are very eager and wanting. In addition, he doesn't care who's around and has absolutely no problem with kissing in public. Even if you blush and get embarrassed this only give him another reason to hold you tighter and go to town. Prepare yourself... 😳

Mista will literally confess to you on the street. The first time he tells you that he loves you is actually in casual conversation. You had to do a double take, and he merely shrugged in response. It would take some getting used to, but you were elated that he felt the same as you!

He'll want to get married after his time in Passione is over, or at least has settled down to where he can live comfortably with you. The ceremony will be small, with only a few family members attending. Even if you haven't yet upgraded to a larger living space, he'll want to start a family right away. If you decide you're not ready you remind him that the Pistols are already his children.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Every name invented is fair game. He loves using stupid niche names too that come up after a few months of dating. Examples include but are not limited to: "green bean", "lil mami", and "bicycle crusher" (the last refers to your thighs in a related incident).

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

He tells the gang that he's crushing on someone all the time, so when he first reveals that he's in love they really don't believe him at first. Although he "always says that", it's the Pistols that escalate the situation even further. Whenever you're along with him they'll come out and start egging him on with kissy noises and the like. He'll turn as red as a tomato when you grant him his wish.

Mista LOVES to show you off in public, and he loves watching the reactions of the passerby as he has an arm slung around your waist traveling dangerously close to your butt. It drives him nuts that out of all of the guys in Italy you chose him, and now that you two are a couple he wants to show the world.

While many other guys may hate the concept of hugging, Mista loves it wholeheartedly. Whenever you're having a bad day, a good day, or are just walking around he won't hesitate to wrap his arms around you and smile. Sometimes the Pistols will even join in for a group hug! He's basically the hug king, and you're not opposed to that role.

Very romantic babey. Since he’s so smelly he would suggest taking a bath or shower with you. This will take some extreme confidence from both of you. Whether it becomes sexual or not, just being intimate in this way is so special to him.

He believes in you like nobody's business. Also, he loves seeing when you follow through with your goals and sees your dreams coming to fruition! It's extremely exciting for him, and you love seeing his reactions to watching you succeed.

Mista loves the thrill that life and living provides. There's something new that arises every day you spend with him, and you never get bored. Loves booking hotel rooms for trips and the like and not telling you until the night before, which can be stressful yet cute.

Mista is stupid but means well. Sometimes you can quiz him, and he'll still forget something as simple as your favorite food, or your favorite color. In time, he'll learn more about you and your emotions, but for now every time you tell him a fact about yourself he'll write it in his phone so he doesn't forget. 🥺

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

Mista will be so cheesy about telling you how much you mean to him. -"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...."- <-- If he pulls anything like this he usually givers you permission to slap him. You're one of the only partners that's stuck around with him for this long, and he's not planning on letting you go any time soon.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

Mista insists that he should help around the house at times, and this means that he's going to help with the chores in any way that he can. You end up assigning him grocery shopping (a big mistake). He is so unorganized and claims that he doesn’t need a list to go off of, and this usually results in him buying whatever he wants. Watch him get all the way home and still manage to forget the milk and bread. Good thing he bought the family pack of ice cream sandwiches though.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

If you look up affectionate in the dictionary, there's a very good chance that you'll see Mista's name. He loves to cuddle with you and especially loves to nap with you because of the intimacy. Mista can nap anywhere, anytime, but he prefers falling asleep with you in his arms!

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Mista will be soooo needy when you are away, and so will the Pistols. When you have the free time between class or meetings he'll call you begging for you to come home with his six children screaming in the background. Eventually, it'll get to be too much and you have no choice but to come home, much to his delight. He'll never let you go.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

Mista will definitely buy you presents if he has the money at hand. Expect lavish gifts like jewelry and clothes from him, whether it's a special occasion or not. If he could, he'd give you the world, but at times you have to remind him that you have more than enough and you don't need to be impressed by physical possessions.

Gender Census 2020: The Identity Question

This report is the second in a series, analysing the >24,000 responses from the 2020 Gender Census question-by-question.

This year’s Gender Census, aimed at everyone whose gender(s) or lack thereof are not adequately described by the gender binary of “always, solely and completely male OR always, solely and completely female”, was open from 12th February until 7th April 2020. There were 24,576 usable responses. (Unfortunately the spreadsheet of responses won’t be available until I’ve written up the report for every question, sorry about that!)

This report will summarise the responses for the first question, regarding identity.

As in previous years, I asked:

Which of the following best describe(s) in English how you think of yourself?

There were 30 checkbox options presented in a random order, largely based on which answers were chosen by over 1% of participants last year. (More on how I’m updating the selection process later.)

Here’s a graph of the results:

And here’s the top 5:

nonbinary - 66.4% (down 0.2%)

queer (partially or completely in relation to gender) - 42.9% (down 0.1%)

trans - 33.7% (down 2.9%)

enby - 31.5% (down 0.2%)

gender non-conforming - 29.0% (up 2.8%)

Last year queer was added to the checkbox list because it was entered into the textbox by over 1% of participants (2.9%) the previous year, and it rocketed to second place. At the time I was very surprised by this, and I had some reservations about the data quality, because the word “gender” isn’t mentioned in the question. Perhaps people were choosing queer as a checkbox option because the question isn’t clear enough and they identify as queer in terms of their sexual orientation? This year, the queer checkbox option was a little longer:

... and it was still entered by around the same proportion of participants. I now feel satisfied that these results are representative of participants’ gender identities or similar, and not entered in error. I will retain this wording for future surveys, just in case.

Aside from that, nothing particularly stands out as a new trend. Here’s the graph of the top 10 identity words from the past seven surveys:

Genderqueer continues its gradual downward trend, and I’ve bolded that line so you can see it more clearly. Last year it was sixth most popular, and this year it’s seventh. Gender non-conforming has climbed a little and now sits above transgender, but only by a very slim margin of 0.05% (12 people) - just enough to push transgender out of the top 5.

THE 1% AND 3% BOUNDARIES

In order to talk about the textbox entries and the words I will be adding and removing from the checkbox list, I’ll first have to explain a decision I made last year.

In 2019 the checkbox identity list had 30 terms on it, which was long enough that people couldn’t find their identities. Several people asked that the words be sorted in alphabetical order to make them easier to find, but if I do that I will risk primacy and recency bias - the phenomenon of participants being more likely to choose options at the start and end of a list respectively, the solution for which is to randomise the list for each participant.

The 1% boundary ensures that a word only gets added to the checkbox list when enough people write it into the textbox, but I can’t use the same boundary for removing terms from the checkbox list, because most words get chosen around four times more often when they’re presented as easy checkboxes that remind participants of their existence.

So, last year I decided to create a removal boundary of 3%. The proposal: if a checkbox identity term is chosen by under 3% of participants, it will be removed from the checkbox list for next year. When I ran the numbers in 2019, I found that the few terms that fit that criterion were words I have mainly seen used by older people, and older people are underrepresented in online surveys. If I remove checkbox terms that are mostly used by order people, I am further excluding them from a survey that is already less accessible to them.

The only solution I could think of was to start asking for participants’ ages every year, and then remove words that are chosen by under 3% of both under-30s and over-30s. This year I asked for age, and let people choose in 5-year increments, to reduce identifiability. I then split the popularity of identity words by age: participants 30 and younger, and participants 31 and older.

THE CHECKBOXES

Here’s how the top 5s look when split by age group:

30 and younger

nonbinary - 68.0%

queer (partially or completely in relation to gender) - 42.9%

trans - 35.0%

enby - 32.6%

transgender - 29.8%

31 and older

nonbinary - 56.9%

queer (partially or completely in relation to gender) - 43.1%

genderqueer - 29.8%

trans - 26.2%

gender non-conforming - 25.3%

Broadly similar at the top, though older participants were more likely to choose genderqueer and gender non-conforming, whereas younger participants were more likely to choose enby and transgender. (You can see more on the word “enby” and its age connotations in the first report here.)

Here’s the new top 15, calculated as an average percentage from both age groups:

This graph shows that in this new overall top 15, people aged 31 and over were significantly more likely to identify as genderqueer or woman. But I think it is interesting to note that the two groups are much more similar than they are different.

WORDS TO REMOVE (UNDER 3%)

On the checkbox list, only three terms were chosen by under 3% of participants in both age groups: third gender, cisgender, and binary.

I will be keeping cisgender and binary on the list for next year, because I have a policy of offering words that are opposites of words that need to stay on the list. In this case, they act as controls for transgender and nonbinary.

However, third gender has been on the list since the first survey because someone suggested it when I casually crowdsourced checkbox ideas, and it has always been pretty low on the popularity list. Last year it was 2.2%, and this year it was about the same: 2.2% for under-30s, and 2.3% for over-30s. I looked into the phrase a little more, and found that it’s essentially a term used by white anthropologists to describe non-straight-non-cis people in non-Western societies. That could include LGB people and binary trans people, in addition to people whose genders are not described by the M/F binary. On the basis of racism alone I’ll be very happy to remove this term from the checkbox list for next year.

If there are no words to remove next year, I will consider increasing the removal threshold to 4%.

TEXTBOX IDENTITY WORDS

This part is always a joy for me, and the age group thing made it more interesting this year. There were 3,546 unique identities written into the textboxes, which is one new term for every seven people.

Taking all write-ins at face value, there were two words that were typed in by over 1% of participants in either age group: human, and female.

This is probably the point at which some of you will start to feel nervous. “Adult human female” is the slogan of some gender-critical/trans-exclusionary radical feminists. Most years the survey link gets shared in gender-critical circles and we get a handful of responses from people identifying as women, some of them trying to disrupt the survey and some earnestly sharing their experiences of their own genders.

This year I thought more about the issue and came to a decision about whether or not these responses should be included, and you can read more about that here, but the summary is: many gender-critical women responding to the survey describe lifelong experiences of gender dysphoria and a relationship with their bodies that could have been recounted by any nonbinary participant. I invite anyone to participate who feels that the gender binary has failed them, and gender-critical women/TERFs should be included in that group.

So, if a gender-critical woman’s response isn’t abusive or hurtful, it can stay. That means that we had plenty of people who entered the words adult, human and female into the textboxes, and I have to decide what to do about that.

Adult didn’t make the cut. For some reason it wasn’t entered as often as human and female.

Human was an easy decision. It can be assumed that if one is filling in a survey on the internet using a keyboard, one is probably human. That doesn’t need to be included on the list.

Female is harder. I have previously debated whether or not to include male and female on the checkbox list, and every time I have decided that the risk is too great. My experience is that many trans and nonbinary people are uncomfortable enough being asked about the gender they were assigned at birth and their biological sex that they would be much more likely to duck out of any survey even vaguely alluding to it. Since male and female were never entered by over 1% of participants I never had to consider it at all - until now.

So, when it became apparent while the survey was open that female might break 1%, I ran some informal polls on Twitter and Mastodon, and combined the results in a spreadsheet. I wanted to find out whether people associate male/female with biological sex and/or gender assigned at birth, and how people would feel about them being included as visible checkbox options. Here’s a summary:

81% of voters said that male and female relate to bodies/sex/anatomy exclusively or in at least some contexts. In the extremes, people were a little more likely to say that male/female relate to bodies/sex only, as opposed to gender only. This fits my experience of the trans narrative that sex and gender are different things that are incongruent in trans people.

People were on the whole in favour of male and female being words on the checkbox list distinct from man and woman, but it was very close.

When asked how they would personally feel seeing male/female on the checkbox list, it became a little less ambiguous - only 18% said they’d feel uncomfortable or otherwise negative. I say “only” - one in five is a lot of participants. I suspect that would still lead to a lot of drop-outs.

To act as something like a control, I asked about an issue that is often controversial: the inclusion of it/it pronouns in the pronoun checkbox list. 82% said they felt good about them being included, compared to only 54% of people who would feel good about male and female being included.

For now I conclude that the words male and female correlate with physical and anatomical sex enough that it would interfere with the quality of the data. Until the balance tips from “male/female = body” to “male/female = gender”, I don’t think I will feel confident that I can add them to the list without affecting survey results and participants’ inclusion.

So that’s it for the words counted at face value - nothing will be added next year.

However, taking into account variations of spelling and similar, the picture looks a little different.

Some textboxes contained phrases like “lesbian (yes, as a gender identity)”, which I found interesting! So I started to count as many of these oddballs as I could, ensuring along the way that they fit the spirit of the question. The following words were entered in some way by at least 1% of participants in one of the two age groups:

butch

femme

Butch and femme are familiar to me as words that describe an experience of gender outside of heteronormativity, but lesbian in this context was new to me, which is always exciting!

Interestingly, I didn’t see anything like the same trend for terms that usually describe gay men, such as gay, bear, etc. For fairness, I will include gay if I include lesbian, in the same way that I include cisgender if I list transgender. And, like queer, I will feel more confident in the data if I can know for sure that participants are choosing words in the spirit of the question - gender identity rather than sexual orientation.

That means next year I will be adding four (!) new terms to the checkbox list:

lesbian (partially or completely in relation to gender)

gay (partially or completely in relation to gender)

butch

femme

The removal of one term and the addition of four will make the identity list 33 words long. This is very unwieldy! People were already struggling to find familiar identity words at 30. Next year when I crowdfund I will be raising money to pay for SmartSurvey to make a custom question layout for us, that looks something like this mock-up a nice person made last year:

A search box, and when you start typing the term you’re looking for, the list of checkbox options filters out everything that doesn’t fit. So if you typed “dem” you’d be left with demiboy, demigirl, and demigender.

The quote that SmartSurvey gave me is £400 plus VAT - so I assume £480. Oof! But I think it would be a one-off fee, and I think it would be worth it.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

You all are super interesting!

“Nonbinary” is the most popular, but it’s still only good for two-thirds of us.

The identity list is getting very long.

Genderqueer is down, queer is up.

The line between gender and sexuality is delightfully blurry when you get right down to it.

Age is just a number.

It’s already August and I’ve only done two reports of maybe four or five. In addition to this whole pandemic situation I’ve also been going through a lot in relation to disability issues, housing, etc. I’m doing my best, and I won’t give up!

Yukio Okumura Alphabet Headcanons - [SFW]

Yukio:

A = Affection (How affectionate are they with an s/o?)

Yukio's quite affectionate! However, most of the affection occurs somewhere in private, rarely in public; but it's not like he doesn't like showing it - he considers it somewhat intimate. Yukio has no problem holding your hand in public or wrapping his arm around your waist, though.

B = Breath (What could their s/o do to take their breath away?)

Being yourself. Not acting like completely another person, whether its to just to fit in or to get an advantage in something. Even though it sounds kinda silly, he loves seeing you being yourself, the real you, doing what you like. It comforts him in a way, considering that he always had to change himself to either be an adult and take care of someone, or fighting his own demons. Since he always has to have a facade on, it's oddly satisfying seeing the person he loves the most being true to themselves and others.

C = Cuddling (Do they cuddle? If they do, how and when do they cuddle?)

In private? hell yes. anytime, unless he's doing some important work (well,, he still lets you sit on his lap nonetheless). Loves to cuddle, even if he's a bit reluctant at first, since he isn't really used to it. Whenever you cuddle, he always unconsciously intertwines his fingers with you - it's a habit he's developed as he got used to the other person's touch.

D = Dream (What do they dream of doing with their s/o?)

Similar to Rin - having a normal life. No satan, no Illuminati, just quiet and peace. Yukio also wishes to open up about himself and finally, leave any troubles and dishonesty behind. He feels guilty a lot knowing he's probably messed up too much and it's probably not gonna happen.

He does his best! He has a great memory, so whenever an anniversary or bday approaches, he's already prepared. He also cares a lot, and it shows whenever he checks up on you - he acts kinda like a strict and caring mom, but that's just how he is. Questions about your wellbeing are always honest. Emotionally, he might be a little clumsy.

F = Fear (What do they do if their s/o is scared? How do they handle it?)

Outside is calm and collected, but outside he's panicking. He handles the situation pretty well, no matter if it's something serious or not. He asks if you're okay, if you need anything; if he hears "no", he kisses you on your forehead, sits next to you and pulls you closer to him, so you can wrap your hands around him and listen to his heartbeat. He doesn't say anything; instead, he plays with your hair and gives small kisses on the crown on your head.

G = Gifts (What type of gifts do they give their s/o? Do they want a gift in return?)

He's the jewelry type of guy. Whether it's expensive or something on the cheaper side, he likes both if it holds some kind of meaning. He loves buying you bracelets, sometimes he gets himself a matching one and wears it hidden under that black, exorcist coat. Doesn't really want nor expects to get a gift in return, and will have a hard time accepting one, but eventually, he'll take it. (and I mean, if you shove it in his hands and leave)

H = Hugs (Do they hug their s/o? How often?)

Hugging is a must, but in a very subtle way. Oh, you two greet for the first time this day? He side hugs you, placing a kiss on your forehead. Side hug works as a goodbye as well. Full-on hugs occur usually after a tough mission, if your life's been in danger or he feels particularly affectionate that day.

I = Intimacy (How romantic are they? Do they have problems with intimacy?)

He's pretty romantic, likes those cliche things, like giving you flowers or lighting candles for a special dinner for you two. Sometimes he cringes a lot because of that cheesy things, but it's really sweet, considering his personality. The only problem with intimacy is, well, his mind that at first, doesn't want to allow you to get to know his struggles. Since he's always self-loathing, it's really hard to get through that thick walls he's built throughout the years; He does actually open up eventually, but it takes him a lot of time - he wants to know that he can trust you.

J = Jealous (Do they get jealous? How do they act when jealous?)

Gets jealous only if you're "interacting too much" with people close to him - like Rin (sorry), Bon, or Renzo. Yukio just stares and, possibly, burns holes in the other person's skull. He'll place his chin on his palm, resting his elbow on the desk and.. just stare with no shame. If that person looks at him, he just smiles, but let me tell you, that smile is NOT a pleasant one. (aka "you better stop or else" kind of smile)

K = Kiss (Are they a good kisser? Do they like to kiss? How often do they try to kiss you?)

He's a decent kisser. I think he's kissed before, so he generally knows what to do and gets better as the relationship goes. Likes kissing, surprisingly! Often kisses you around your face, like on the forehead, cheeks, or your hair. Lips kisses, however, are mostly shared in private -  he feels it's way more serious and intimate than any other kiss.

L = Love (When do they say they love you? How often do they say it? Do they prefer to say or show it?)

Yukio says "I love you" when he feels like it; it's not like he doesn't love you, it's just the way he is. Even though it's not often, he pours everything from his heart into these words. He's most likely emotionally vulnerable during this time, too -  when his walls break down and he finally lets some of his struggles out, he always says that three words when he's done with his monologue. Sometimes however, you can do a random thing, and out of nowhere you hear him saying it too (just imagine eating marshmallows and hearing his "I love you", then looking at him with your stuffed mouth.. well-). He's a 50/50 guy - he knows he doesn't say that often, so he makes it up by trying to show it in different ways.

M = Marriage (Do they want to get married? If so, what kind of ceremony?)

Would love to get married! But Yukio being Yukio, thinks that who'd want a fool like him to spend their life with? with him? after all he's done? You won't accept his proposal, bet! When he's actually going to propose, he thinks "you only die once" (this proverb is so cursed-) and he's just gonna do it, thinking he's gonna be rejected. Would like a small ceremony, only with people he trusts the most and your families. (Mephisto is NOT invited, by the way.) ((yes, he's mad about it. hoes mad))

N = Night out (What type of dates do they like to go on? How often do they like to go on them?)

Home dates all the way! Or, if night walks are considered dates, they're his favorite. Walking through the city with a cold breeze, empty streets, and blinking stars above him - it's his guilty pleasure. There's no one to bother him, and the fact that he can share this feeling with you makes him feel fulfilled inside. If it's okay with you, he can go on walks like this every night (unless the weather sucks).

O = Out of the Ordinary (What’s something they don’t normally do with/for their s/o?)

As silly as it sounds, he's usually against a nice, specific skincare routine. Whether you suggest giving you both masks, he turns that down. He thinks it takes too much time and ultimately does nothing to make his skin better. (psst, just beg him until he gives up and gets a tiger mask on)

P = Playful (Are they playful in a relationship? If so, how do they play around/mess with their s/o?)

He's quite playful if he's in a good mood. His only weapon is to tickle you whenever you expect it the least.

Q = Questions (Do they ask their s/o their opinion on things? Do they share theirs?)

Depending on what topic the discussion is about, he might or not ask you for your opinion. He does value your thoughts on things, but if it's something regarding his actions, he's very likely to listen to himself anyway. If it's about something more light-hearted or less serious in general, he's definitely gonna ask you. He himself shares his own opinion rarely, unless he's cornered.

R = Random (How spontaneous is their relationship? Do they do things on the spot or plan ahead?)

It's been planned ahead, at first, but given that his "adventures" with both the Order and Illuminati made things quite... messy, it's now considered kinda spontaneous. He, to be honest, doesn't want anymore to plan things too far ahead, not knowing if they're gonna actually work out or not.

S = Sleep (How do they sleep with their s/o?)

He's a switch! Most of the time he's the big spoon, sleeping behind you with his arm over your hip, but when his mental health gets worse, he likes being spooned. Before sleeping, he has a small routine with you - when you're lying in bed, he hugs you tightly to reassure both himself and you that you're still here for him and he's for you, safe and sound.

T = Trust (How much do they trust their s/o?)

Yukio's got a little bit of trust issues, at first. In the first few months, he won't tell any information about either himself, or Rin. If his s/o doesn't participate in exorcist classes, he won't even bring up the topic of being the son of Satan himself (so his schedule might seem a little bit sketchy). He's that kind of guy that believes his relationship won't last long, so he sees no need to tell any sensitive info that could possibly cause even more problems. As the relationship progresses and he realizes his s/o deserves to know and has put up with his shit to the current day, Yukio will slowly break the news, feeling extremely guilty.

U = Unique (What makes them unique as an s/o?)

Despite him bottling up his emotions and thoughts, he's a top-notch listener. Whenever something is bothering you, he's gonna ask if you wanna talk about it; he's gonna listen to it and give you the best advice he could possibly think of. He thinks something along the lines of "if I can't be helped, at least I'll help someone else that actually cares about me."

V = Vulnerable (How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?)

Very, very long. A whole ass year, if not more. His breakdowns are very violent - they start with him being furious - he's yelling, pacing around, and holding guns all the time; might also throw stuff, so in this phase, it's better to let him do his thing, instead of getting yourself injured and making him blame himself for more. The second and last phase is when he just kneels and lowers his head, dropping the guns on the floor and placing both of his hands on his face; that's when he starts sobbing, apologizing, and saying what's been on his mind all that time. He chokes on his sobs whilst talking, his entire body is shaking and when you come closer to him to embrace him, he throws himself at you and holds you like it's the last thing he's doing on this world.

W = Wild Card (Get a random domestic headcanon of the character of your choice)

On a happier note, Yukio's all ready to try out some basic, simple things you're interested in! You're baking? He's here to help you in any way he can - mixing, decorating. I headcanon that he's able to read extremely fast, so he might as well read any of the books/manga you like and talk about it later on. If you're an artist, no matter if the beginner or not, he's very willing to help you with anatomy, drawing certain parts of the body, or explaining them in detail!

X = X-Ray (What would they do if their s/o got injured?)

Surprisingly calm, unlike Rin. He's patched Rin up before, plus he has a meister in doctor, so he's familiar with it and is pretty skilled with his hands. If the injury is too much for him, he's gonna get you to the hospital.

Y = Yuck (Do they have any pet peeves about their s/o? Are there any habits that might bother their s/o?)

The only things that bother him are sticking nose in other people's business or forcing him to talk about certain things.

Z = Zeal (Are they passionate as an s/o? Do they want or like passion?)

He's trying his best to be; likes passion himself, but feels like he doesn't deserve a single bit of it.

A/N: Happy birthday to everyone’s favorite bandage wasting detective! And! We got the bsd wan manga anime adaptation announced today!! I’m sorry if it’s lacking towards the end its late;;; and I cannot deal.

Activities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Dazai loves doing anything with you. If you’re by his side he won’t complain -that much- to Kunikida about working. He’ll take you to all types of different places, you guys will go to seasonal festivals, the movies and out to eat. On multiple occasions he’s even tried to get you to commit double suicide with him, and you had to tell him no every time.

“But (Y/N)-chan~ why not~!” He whined.

“Osamu, I am not going to commit double suicide with you, we’re in the middle of WcDonald’s.”

Beauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He admires everything there is about you. He loves how accepting of him you are and when you found out about his past you understood that he was changing for the better. He thinks that if Odasaku were still alive you two would be great friends. He can’t help but smile at the thought of making his dear friend proud.

He absolutely believes your smile is the most beautiful thing in the world. Especially when he’s the one who made it happen. He’ll be as dramatic as possible whenever he catches you smiling.

“Ah~! Your smile is too bright!! I can feel it piercing into my soul and cleansing it!”

It never fails to make you flustered and he loves it.

Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

His number one priority is making sure that you’re not only aware of your surroundings but that you know you’ll be safe with him. He always makes sure to carry something that you like with him so that he can use it to help ground you easier, whether that be your favorite candy or smell. His voice is also very calming, and he always manages to find the right words to calm your heart.

Dreams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

He honestly didn’t think someone would find him worthy enough to date him, so just being with you in the present is a miracle enough, he doesn’t want to be too greedy, but if you’d allow it he’d like to spend his last seconds with you. He would always joke saying that he wants to see your face before he dies so he could die happily. You’d just laugh and tell him to knock it off, but he truly means it, if he at least is able to see your face before he goes.

Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

He’s the dominant one in the relationship, he’s always thinking about what the two of you can do and you mostly follow along. Because most of the time his antics are rather fun, and you can definitely expect to do something you’ve never done before with Dazai around.

Fight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

He doesn’t like staying mad at you for long, but he can hold a bit of a grudge at times depending on how deeply the fight impacted him. He’d never get physical with you, if he did he’d hate himself for putting his hands on you.

Gratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He’s so very grateful to have you. He always makes sure that you know how much he loves you and everything you do for him. At first he didn’t think he deserved you, but you made sure to remind him how much you love him. He reminds you on a daily basis how thankful he is for your mere existence.

Honesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

*Slaps car roof* This boy right here can fit so many secrets.

Of course he’d have secrets he doesn’t tell you. He doesn’t tell you anything major in case it could put your life at risk as well, Dazai is a wanted man and just being with him makes you a target as well. He doesn’t want to involve you in something due to his past mistakes so he makes sure he doesn’t tell you anything too private.

He will however tell you the stupidest secrets that he swears are very deep and embarrassing to him. He tells you enough that you feel like he’s telling you something important so that you don’t question that you don’t really know him.

Inspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

Meeting you made him realize how much he’s really changed from his Port Mafia days. Since before he didn’t really feel like he was doing good enough no matter how hard he tried. He would do ‘good’ deeds but didn’t feel any connections with them, but you reassured him that you can tell how hard he’s trying to be better and that he should focus on the progress he’s made rebuilding himself.

Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

He tends to get jealous depending who’s talking to you. If it’s someone you both know, he doesn’t get jealous, he has faith in them that they won’t try to pull any funny moves on you. However, the same can’t be said about strangers, he doesn’t have trust in them cause why should he?

When he sees a stranger talking to you, a bunch of alarms goes through his head telling him to get you away from them. He gives into those feelings and comes to your ‘rescue’, you make sure to scold him later since most of the time they’re asking you for help but he doesn’t trust that.

He’d pout and say, “All men are wolves, (Y/N), I don’t want you to get hurt by them.”

Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Yes, he’s usually a very good kisser. But you got the jump on him for your first kiss. As he was leaning in to kiss you, he pulled away and was about to tease you so that you’d have to earn it. But what he didn’t expect was for you to kiss him so boldly. When you pulled away he was stunned for a second, but just seeing that moment where he was caught off guard made it worth it, even though it left you a blushing mess afterwards.

Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

It took him a while to get his feelings to reach you. Not because he didn’t want you, but because when he did proclaim his love for you, you dismissed him with a wave of your hand. You’ve seen him flirt with countless others, so what made you so different?

He was determined to let you know that his feelings for you were real, so he asked the agency members for their opinions on how he should ask you before settling on his decision.

The next time he asked you out, he wasn’t over dramatic, he didn’t have his usual flirty smile he wore, he was just him. He spoke directly from his heart and hoped you’d understand that he wasn’t leading you on and he meant every word. Thankfully, his feelings got to you and you were willing to give him a chance.

Marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Dazai would love to marry you, he wants to show how deep his love for you goes, and would go to great lengths to express how he feels towards you. He’d recreate the first date the two of you shared and would propose to you there.

Being married to Dazai is never boring. There’s always something exciting going on whenever Dazai is around. One time he made his specialty dish called, ‘peppy hot pot’, you don’t quite remember what happened after eating it but you vowed to never let Dazai cook again. So you left him do the cleaning while you cooked.

Nicknames - What do they call their s/o?

“You can be my Juliet!! And you can call me your Romeo!! Isn’t that romantic~!” Dazai’s eyes practically shined.

“Didn’t they end up dying in the end?”

“Yes! Their love caused them to go to such great lengths! And that’s what makes it so romantic! Don’t you think?”

“.....sure?”

“Great! By the way, my wonderful Juliet, I have a potion right here-”

“No.”

On Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

It’s hard for others to tell when Dazai is in love since he’s known to be a flirt. At first it was hard to tell, but after a while others started to notice that he wasn’t flirting with anyone else while he was vying for your attention.

After his confession where he opened his heart up to you, he realized that to get his feelings across he has to be completely sincere. Though there would be times where he’d act overly dramatic to show his love for you, mostly because when he does that it embarrasses you and makes you show the cutest flustered face.

PDA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He’s very open about his relationship with you where he knows it’s safe. He’s cautious while you guys are out since there can be prying eyes, but other than that in the agency he’s free to show his love for you on full display.

He’d kiss you and say it’s for ‘good luck’ or ‘if I don’t kiss you right now I’ll combust’. You’ll laugh and kiss him back anyway.

Quirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He’s very good at smooth talking, and whenever he does that it instantly calms you down and makes you fall asleep.

It also helps when the two of you get in trouble due to an idea Dazai thought would be good. Like that one time you guys stayed overnight at a mall, or when he climbed into one of the animal cages at the zoo.

Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

You can expect Dazai to shower you in love. Everything he does for you he thinks about how happy it’ll make you. He’ll do small things like ordering your favorite food when you’re too tired from the day to cook, or something big like filling up your room with your favorite flowers (if you’re allergic to flowers then he fills it with your favorite candy).

Support - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He wants only the best for you, and he’ll do his best in having complete faith in your abilities and gives you the extra push you need. He’d offer that he can pull some strings for you, but you deny him saying that you want to earn it on your own accord, which only makes him smile since that’s what he wanted you to say so that you can achieve your goal.

Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

He loves doing new things with you, so you can expect him planning something fun and exciting with every date. It’s not because he’s bored with you, but because he wants to give you the most memorable dates, and the only way to do that is to do stuff that people wouldn’t normally do. He knows that the mundane life will take getting used to, but with you by his side makes it all worth it.

Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

Dazai can read you most of the time, but there are times where you’re unpredictable and he lives for it.

Being empathetic doesn’t come naturally to him, but when it comes to you he would try his best in understanding your situation and would think of the best thing to say to you so that you understand that you’re not alone in whatever you’re going through.

Value - How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?

He values your relationship deeply, and he’d do whatever he can to keep it. However, if the choice ever came between your safety and your relationship, he’d prioritize your safety since as much as he loves you, he wants you to be safe no matter what and doesn’t want you to get hurt due to something out of his control.

Wild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

You often help him change his bandages. When you first started dating he was wary about showing you how he looked under them so you never saw what he hid underneath. But when you had asked to help him, your voice was so gentle and comforting he couldn’t refuse you.

Once you saw the scars hidden under them, you didn’t react the way he thought you would. He thought you’d be repulsed by him, but you were too kind to do that, he knew that but the fear was still there, instead you kissed his scars and let him know how beautiful you thought he was, scars and all.

You even told him that his scars are proof he lived and survived, he’d never forget that, so whenever he sees his scar he’d smile fondly at that memory.

XOXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

He is very affectionate, he absolutely loves showering you in kisses and having you in his arms, where he knows you’re safe with him.

Yearning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

He’d look back on all the photos he has of the two of you together instead of doing his work. Kunikida will scold him and tell Dazai to do his work, but instead of listening to him, he’ll put his headphones on and listen to recordings with your voice on it.

Just listening to your voice is enough to soothe his aching heart while he waits for your return.

Zeal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

He would hold your life above his own, so he’ll often talk about what he’d do for you, but it was one of those rare days where your answer surprised him.

“(Y/N), I want to let you know that I love you so much, I’d die for you if the time ever came for that.”

“Oh, really? That’s strange since I’d want to live for you.” He blinked back in shock at how quickly you came up with your answer, and how genuine it was. After coming over the initial shock, he’d just smile back at you and give you a soft kiss on your forehead. You’re not sure what to think about his reaction but you can only hope he’ll feel the same way.

Again, I know the point of these things is to wait for followers to Ask questions from the list, but reading though this one got me thinking too much. About all of my flagships. And I wanted to answer all of the questions. And not wait for a handful to maybe be asked.

Also, just because I’ve already answered these here, I’ve expanded on some for various reasons and left others short if I believe the reasons are obvious. So if you still want to do the whole interactive thing, you can still ask for clarification or whatever.

Riko. Yohane is very much not a morning person, especially after a late night of streaming.

Yohane. See above. However, if she doesn’t have time commitments for the day, Riko may occasionally want to stay in bed for some activities other than sleeping.

Either, though they are fond of getting ready together and helping one another, so in these cases, they’re done at the same time.

4. When they can’t sleep, what do they do?

Yohane has many rituals for inducing sleep involving all manner of meditation, incense, herbal tea, topical rubs, nightmare wards and more. Whether or not they work is up to debate, but Riko is comforted by the sentiment, as portrayed in Dream Warden. Yohane herself takes comfort from being near those she loves, particularly Riko, while she sleeps.

5. Who falls asleep while watching a movie?

Yohane, though it depends on the type of movie.

6. Who falls asleep last, watching the other with a small affectionate smile?

More often Riko, though Yohane does enjoy watching a sleeping Riko from time to time.

Yohane. 100% Yohane. And she is well aware of how cheesy they are. And she knows how much Riko loves them.

Yohane gets competitive over games in general.

Yohane is more likely to do so, though Riko can be absentminded on occasion.

Both have their reasons for their particularness in displaying their shelving; Riko likes to be able to quickly locate her favorite doujin while Yohane is considerate of the background for her ritual streams.

Yohane. With as many different attempts at different voices and accents as she can.

13. Who points out a dog when they see one?

Early on, both, though for different reasons; Yohane out of excitement and Riko out of fear. Later, Yohane retains her excitement while Riko becomes more lax in her reactions.

14. Who’s prone to road rage?

Yohane.

Yohane knows she burns easily and is pretty good at remembering, though Riko is mindful that her girlfriend can be careless at times.

Probably Yohane. Likely accompanied by some statement about missing being able to fly under her own power.

Yohane.

Early after moving in together, Yohane had a bad habit of bringing home stray pets, despite it being against the policy of the apartment complex, as depicted in Hibagon. These arguments subsided once the policy was changed, as depicted in Phobetor.

21. Who’s clumsier?

Yohane, though Riko certainly has her moments.

22. Who texts more often?

Yohane.

23. Who is better with kids?

Yohane is better at keeping kids entertained with her antics while Riko is better at tending to their care, be it feeding them, calming them down when they’re upset or applying first aid; Yohane is pretty good with first aid as well, having had far too much practice on herself.

24. Who’s the better cook?

Debatable. As I mentioned in the Notes for A Roost for Weary Wings, Yohane is capable of producing higher quality results, but also fails more spectacularly. Riko may lack the skills and confidence to produce highly extravagant meals, but she is far more consistent in producing edible food.

25. Who mistakes salt for sugar?

Riko. Despite what one may assume from my prior answer. Yohane will still eat it, not only because she has a strange sense of taste, but also because her beloved Riri made it for her and she will be damned before letting it go to waste.

26. Who puts the fork in the microwave?

Possibly Yohane.

27. Who cooks at 2 in the morning?

Yohane.

28. Who lets the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1 a.m.?

Definitely Yohane.

29. Who licks the spoon when they’re baking brownies?

Yohane. She’ll even bring her own spoon, as depicted in Valentine’s Taste Test.

30. Who likes doing the dishes?

Riko doesn’t mind it. Yohane dislikes it but is willing to balance the workload after Riko cooked.

For food, especially exotic or exceptionally spicy food? Yohane. Although she does have a bit of a sweet tooth, as her favorites would imply. For enacting scenes from her favorite doujinshi with her girlfriend? Riko.

Both, though for slightly different reasons. Riko believes it is romantic to know certain things about one’s partner. Yohane believes it is the duty of a fallen angel to know such things about their little demons… or fellow angels?

Yohane will often eat too fast and give herself a headache. Her favorite flavors are those of her favorite foods, chocolate and strawberry. Riko eats slower, more often out of a sundae dish than a cone, in part because a dish is better for eating at her pace, but also because it’s easier for Yohane to “steal” a bite or two. She enjoys Yohane’s favorites, but is also fond of mint and vanilla.

Absolutely. Riko prefers going to museums or orchestra performances, though she has dragged Yohane to several doujin stores over the years. Yohane prefers higher energy environments like amusement parks, though she has dragged Riko to several gothic Lolita clothing stores and occult shops over the years. Riko smells the slightly sulfuric scent of boiling eggs her parents made often while she was growing up, the clean, salty air of Uchiura, and a spicy, sweet and earthy scent to which she cannot match a specific memory. Yohane smells sweet black lilies, the lingering smoke from a myriad of incense that always permeates occult shops, and a spicy, sweet and earthy scent to which she cannot match a specific memory.

The last scent for both is an idea I had while Googling random stuff for this question. It’s basically how one website describe the smell of Dragon’s Blood resin when burned as incense. I want to bring it up in a scene or two in both HL and HL(AU), though there will be a difference between the kinds found here on Earth and up in Heaven, which may end up as a minor connecting plot point.

I realize this leaves Riko without something that she knows is directly related to Yohane, but I was trying to avoid using incense too much, as it already had three entries between them. Also, it technically is related to Yohane, she just doesn’t realize it right away. I’m hoping whatever I write someday will make that connection for her. Not that she’ll ever smell Amortentia in HL, but…

It’s no secret that Yohane loves her snuggles. Riko is quieter about her desires, but can be quite insistent, nonetheless.

Riko. Yohane is far more vocal about her discomfort, especially when it comes to temperature.

Riko is more likely to do so, though Yohane might as well. That said, I don’t believe I have them owning a vehicle in HL, so this probably won’t come into play anytime soon in my works.

Riko, as the more consistent cook of the pair, she is more likely to make their lunch bentos for the day. (Bonus: What does it say?) Casual reminders of her love for her Yocchan.

Both are quite affectionate, though Yohane is far more likely to initiate, especially in public though even in private.

41. Who is the big spoon/little spoon?

Riko is most often the big spoon. Though Yohane might try to have one believe elsewise.

42. What is their favorite feature of their partner?

Riko loves Yohane’s smile when she is passionate about something, be it her streams or games or whatever. Yohane loves the way Riko’s fingers dance across the keyboard.

43. What is the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?

Yohane becomes increasingly aware of Riko’s behavior and attitude toward Chika and has to make a conscious effort to avoid holding anything against the idol group’s leader; she likes Chika as a friend, after all, and is thankful that she brought her into the group in the first place. Riko starts to include Yohane in her fantasies.

Riko is constantly concerned that Yohane’s abysmal luck will eventually cause her actual harm, as in more than just catching a cold or getting a scrape or small cut. Yohane also fears that her abysmal luck will adversely affect Riko.

Yohane all the time, in public and in private. Riko, in private.

Yohane said it first in Revelations.

That’s actually a good question. I haven’t decided yet for this ship. I mean I have plans for revealing that the blonde Mari knows, but as for the couple actually telling people… hrm… Off the top of my head, I’d be more likely to say Yohane.

49. What do they do when they’re away from each other?

Both are quite capable of entertaining themselves without the other. Riko can play the piano and Yohane can play her games until their fingers cramp if they are not actively doing something together. And they have Phobetor and Prelude to pet and take on walks and play with. It’s not until bedtime that they become more aware of the other’s absence.

50. Who gets overwhelmed by small acts of kindness?

Depends. Yohane is more the emotional rollercoaster and could easily be overwhelmed by kindness from the girl for whom she held a one-sided crush for far too long. Riko is also likely to moved, though more through something that fits into some trope she loves in her doujin; good thing Yohane can be quite genre-savvy when she wants.
