At least in the sense that I’m not sure what version of the book cover you might get at the moment. Original matte? Temporary glossy? Updated matte that’s here to stay? No idea at the moment. My self-publishing page shows the update’s confirmed, but the online stores are still using the first version as the preview image and I’m not sure when that gets swapped out. At least the books are all print-on-demand, so whatever you order, just know it’s not coming from some thrown-away backup heap. It’s fresh from the book oven press.

First, reviews are extremely welcome! I am running on negative budget when it comes to waving my little flag to announce that I Made a Scary Vampire Book, so I’m really relying on word-of-mouth if I want it to actually get its head above water. The Vampyres is a beautiful accident that came together out of an itch to rattle something out just for myself; a break from a bloated piece that had turned into a chore which burned me out and threw away the fun of scribbling. A lightweight read that saved me from being crushed by a cinderblock.

By the same token, the people on here have shouldered me up and out of the creative pit of thinking ‘This is all for nothing.’ For all that I talk of how much I’m powered by spite and the desire to Read a Specific Thing only to realize I Have to Write That Thing First, I’d be a liar if I said the kindness and excitement of the folks who’ve been reading my nonsense for (holy hell) TWO YEARS in the wake of the first big Dracula Daily surge didn’t have a major role in getting this thing done.

 Melissa Benedict, was one of the most famous wedding dress designers of Boston. And to get an appointment with her was almost impossible, it was known that some people made appointments with a 2 year gap before the wedding. But Annie and Andy only had a year, and right now it was only 6 months till the wedding. Annie had seen other options of dresses in different magazines, but no matter what, she always like best one of her designs.

“I can believe we are going to Melissa Benedict’s shop!” Sharon said looking to the rare mirror to see Annie.

“I know! I can’t believe Andy found a spot for me.”

“Thank god he felt awful for not paying attention to you,” Mark said who had his eyes focus on the road. “I hope next time he gives you a new car.”

“Remember we have to pick up Martha. She would kill me if I don’t take her to see the dresses.”

“What you mean I can’t go?” Tom said.

“I don’t want you to see the dress.”

“I’m your brother, not the groom! I have every right to be there and give you my input in what you should wear to the wedding.”

“No, besides, who will take care of Denisse?

Annie, Sharon, Mark, Martha, Tom and little Denisse arrived to the boutique at 11:00. They walked into the shop and it was packed! They could see there were at least 15 brides inside, along with their families. The shop looked expensive, white, silver and gold on the walls, twinkle lights in some corners, a big chandelier hanging from the reception roof.

“Welcome to Melissa Benedict!” A young blonde woman greet them, “Do you have an appointment?”

“Yes, my name is Annie Johnson.”

“Annie Jonhson? Let me check.” The girl quickly type the name on her computer, “I’m sorry, there is no Johnson. We have a Barber.”

“That’s me! My fiancé’s name is Barber.”

“Marking territory already,” the girl giggled. “Melissa will see you now, let me just call her.”

“Wait, what????”

A couple of minutes later, Melissa Benedict herself walked towards them.

“Hi! Welcome to my shop!” She shook Annie’s hand, “Annie, right?”

“Right!”

“Your fiancé called me, saying he messed up and wanted to make it up to you; and who am I to say no to a man who wants to make her woman happy?” Annie laughed, “He sounded very sorry. Are you ready?” Annie just nodded, she was in awe, “Perfect! Follow me.” They walked further into the shop, “So, who are all these people?”

“OH! These are my friends, that is my sister in law, and that’s my brother and my niece.” Annie finished as they sat in a small living area.

“And, what exactly are you looking for?”

“Well, I was looking for a simple dress, mermaid cut, you know like form fitting. I’m not very into stones, I could do lace, but I don’t want sparkles.”

“Do you have a budget?”

“Yes, two thousand.”

“Awesome! So, I will steal the bride from you guys. I’ll meet you at the dressing rooms.”

While Annie went to the dressing room, Melissa walked around the shop choosing different dresses for her client. She was taking a dress out of the rack when Tom approached her.

“Hi, miss?”

“Oh, Hi! Annie’s brother?” she said trying to remember his name.

“Yes, Tom, hi. Look I saw a dress when we walked into the shop and it is definitely not what my sister has in mind and I was thinking you can put the dress into her options.”

“I can do that. Just remember we can force her to buy it if she doesn’t like it.”

“I understand, I just want to see her in that dress.”

“Sure! Show me which one?”

Tom walked almost to the entrance and pointed to a dress in a mannequin.

“Oh my god! Beautiful choice! I’ll get one for her.” She when back to the back and disappeared.

Annie was sitting on a chair inside the dressing room with a satin white robe waiting for her dresses. The door opened and Melissa walked in along with another girl, carrying 4 dresses each.

“Ok! So I have some choices from what you told me you want, we have white, nude, off white, champagne.”

“Those are a lot of options.”

Annie walked out of the dressing room, a white dress with a heart shape cleavage, it has stones in the bodice, and a short trail at the bottom. She stood in front of the mirror right in front of her family.

“So, what’d you think?” Melissa asked.

“It’s pretty.”

“You don’t seem too convince.” Sharon said.

“It’s just the stones, I don’t like them. The dress it’s beautiful,” She turned to see Melissa, “I don’t want to be disrespectful.”

“No problem, darling. I’m not offended.” She smiled.

“I don’t think that’s the dress for you.” Tom said frankly.

“Yeah, me neither.” She thought for a moment, “I want Andy to die when he sees me!” Everyone laughed, “Too much?”

“Of course not! It’s your wedding day. Although I don’t think you want to be a widow so soon. Let’s get you another dress.”

Four dresses later and Annie was still in the dressing room. She was starting to get anxious and stress.

“Tell me what’s wrong?” Melissa said.

“What if I don’t find a dress?”

“We will find you a dress. I need you to breath.” Annie took a deep breath, “We are here to have a good time. I don’t want you to stress out. If I need to take out 30 more dresses, I will.” Annie nodded, “On the meantime, I have a dress your brother chose.”

“I’m sorry?”

“He just want to see you in it.” Melissa opened the bag where the dress was in, “It’s not the style you are looking for but it is a gorgeous dress. How about if you amuse him? You can relaxed for a bit.”

“Ok.” Melissa took out the dress, “That’s… a bit puffy.”

Annie walked out of the dressing room for the fifth time of the day. When she walked pass her family, all of them gasped.

“Oh my god!” Sharon said.

“You look so pretty!!!” Mark said.

The dress was a soft nude ruched tulle ball gown. It had a detailed beaded bodice and a low back.

“Oh God.” Annie said softly as she saw herself in the mirror. “This is gorgeous!” She turned to see her family and Tom was crying. “Are you ok?”

“You look beautiful.” He sniffed and cleaned his eyes. “Mom and dad would’ve been so proud.”

“Stop! I don’t wanna cry!” But you know she was already teary. “How much is this dress?”

“Well…” Melissa began, “It’s five thousand.”

Annie’s face immediately fell, “That’s three thousand more.”

“Do you like this dress?” Tom asked.

“I love it! Who would’ve thought you had good taste!”

“If you want it, you can have it, I can pay it for you.”

“Are you serious???”

“Yes, of course.”

Annie ran the short distance between her and her brother almost tackling him. “Thank you!!!!!”

“Ok, let’s get you a veil.” Melissa left them alone for a moment to return with a thin tiara and a long veil that match perfectly the color of the dress. She helped Annie put them on. “So this is pretty much how you can look in your wedding.” Annie turned to see herself in the mirror one more time, “We can always change the tiara and the veil; remember it’s just for you to have an idea of the complete look.”

“I love it!”

“So is this your wedding dress?”

“This is my wedding dress!!!!”

“Perfect! Let’s take it off, so you can take it home.”

Four dresses later, Annie found the perfect dress. The one she knew Andy would die when she sees her walking down the aisle.

One less thing to worry about.

A sort of serious question you totally don’t have to answer, but as someone I respect in the camp world I’d definitely value your opinion on: what do you think of the labor ethics of standard camp practices? I’ve never worked for a Girl Scout camp, though I attended them as a kid, but I’ve worked at other national org camps and well as local non profits, and at all of the resident programs I’ve done, I feel like camp employees (both seasonal and year round) are vastly overworked and underpaid. I’m not sure how GS camps do it, but at camps I’ve worked at, working 23 hrs/day for 6 days a week, 7-10 weeks in a row is not uncommon. With average pay, say, $600/week, even if you only count the 15 or so waking hours counselors are working, that comes out to like $6 and hour. Considering that counselors are also on duty all night….I don’t even want to do the math. Am I crazy?? Are other camps not like this??? I know some of the justification for not paying more is because housing and food are provided but it’s not like counselors usually have the option to stay or eat offsite. Idk I know a lot of camps—especially non-profits—don’t make a ton of money, and I think they’re important for kids, but it feels like we really overlook the physical and mental well-being of staff to run them. So I guess I’m wondering, have you seen these issues at camps? Do you think most camps are ethically run?

So this is a huge can of worms in the camp industry and I know it's a touchy subject with a lot of followers and camp people in general. I think it varies A Lot between camps. Like, an absolutely wild amount.

First, $600/week for an overnight camp is fairly high in a lot of places. I won't get into what the overnight camps I know of pay, but suffice to say it is significantly less than that. The hourly wage (should you dare to do the math) is appalling. Hours wise we also less in my council: we have 2 hours off a day (we talked about changing to 3/day also) and then 5 day work weeks for the most part. A lot of camps (my old council) did a one night a week off as well.

Day camps are different, because many have to pay hourly, and many pay above minimum wage to be competitive. I know some camps (day camps) paying $18-20/hour (or more). Obviously this is not all camps, but especially in places like California and the Eastern seaboard, where minimum wage laws are different. We now pay hourly for 0-12 hours during the school year, although not at that rate, and a daily rate for overnight programs. The overnight rate is a significant increase from when I was seasonal staff.

Full time staff are also low on the pay rate, and I see a lot of FT camp director positions in the 35-40k range of salaries. Sometimes year round housing is included, but how much of a perk is it really (also a big debate) to live where you work and never really escape? Unfortunately, that extends to a lot of nonprofit jobs. I made a little over $17/hour when I started, including when I transitioned to exempt, but I've negotiated and earned many raises and bonuses, so now I make not a great wage, but not a terrible wage, and better than a lot of camp positions (I'm not technically camp, but it's a similar pay scale).

I think from a "reasoning" standpoint, it's difficult because staffing is such a huge expense and A Lot of funders don't want to pay for it. Many, many grants are restricted and can only be used for program supplies, or maybe food. Staff salaries though? Difficult to fun through grants. So you have to pay for them with kid's fees. But how do you do that and still be affordable? Still be a price people are willing to pay, beating out the competition? I think that's where a lot of camps struggle, but also, camp staff are necessary, you can't run camp without them, so how do you balance that budget?

Is it ethical to significantly underpay and overwork? Not really. It's bad for staff mental health and it decreases the pool of staff to privileged individuals who don't need the money. But I think that it is getting better, in a lot of places. Not everywhere, but a lot of places. And the conversation is there. I expect that camp wages and hours will drastically change in our lifetime. Will there always be camps that exploit legal loopholes? Yes, absolutely. But I think that the camp industry is changing, and it's going to change more.

Is This Thing On?

It's been a spell, so let's catch up.

How was your decade? Mine was... a lot. Yours too, I imagine.

I started this blog over a dozen years ago as a place to record my thoughts on some of the movies I watched. I love movies, I watch a lot of them and I usually have some sort of commentary for them so it made a certain amount of sense. I kept it up for about a year and then got busy, then got laid off and figured I'd better focus on work and such. In any case I sort of half intended to get back to it but just never did. It goes like that with content creation sometimes (although we didn't call it that back then).

Now, years down the road, I find myself laid off again. Unlike last time, I'm not quite as hyper fixated on resuming my career in the same vein. Office environments in a post(?)-pandemic world that seems to prefer the ostrich approach to outbreak mitigation don't hold quite the same appeal, for starters. And I'm at an age where I'm ready for a new chapter.

But this isn't about my career, it's about movies. So why come back to a movie blog no one read in the first place?

Well, one thing that my family mostly lost during the lockdown and tepid re-emergence of 2020 and 2021 was theater-going. We are fortunate to have one of the few remaining drive-in theaters relatively nearby that has allowed us to enjoy a handful of family films and Marvel pictures and doesn't require sitting in poorly ventilated rooms with a lot of popcorn-stuffing mouths but like a lot of folks we spent most of the last few years streaming movies. Our family had a number of conversations during the peak lockdown period about things we missed about the pre-covid years and for me the number one with a bullet item was seeing films in theaters. Because as a largely homebody-type personality, it takes a special kind of experience to coax me out of my comfy abode. But seeing movies on big screens with dynamic sound systems and the focused, forced attention of a dark theater is just such an experience.

I loved it so much that I joined a rewards club at my local theater which came with one free movie ticket per month. I used the heck out of that perk before 2020. But then we all retreated to our caves and... I forgot about the service. It, however, did not forget about my bank account. Quietly throughout the last few years the club has been extracting its $10 monthly fee from me and cheerfully collecting a truly nutty number of free movie passes. When I finally figured out what had been going on during a budget evaluation in the face of some altered cash flow, I was shocked to note that I had almost 30 free movies.

The club has a stipulation: you can save and use the free passes as long as you... keep paying the subscription fee. I lamented the prospect of throwing away nearly a month's worth of free movies, but I was about to go through with it when I noticed they had a special option: for three months you could pause your membership which would stop the automatic payments but allow the perks to remain. After three months, I'd have to cancel and lose whatever was unused or resume paying.

So. Challenge extended? Not exactly, but I am faced with the prospect of trying to get through as many of these passes as I can in three months. My schedule currently works very well to see the first matinee on Fridays, so the plan for now is to just see whatever is showing each week. And since I'm seeing movies just to see movies, I figured I'd catalog my thoughts on them as I go along. Might as well, right?

I don't know if I'll have the free time to actually start reviewing the other random movies I catch on Netflix or Amazon Prime or whatever, but I won't rule it out entirely.

Anyway, welcome back, or just welcome. First up is "Air" (which will follow this post very shortly) and it looks like this week I'm seeing "Guy Richie's The Covenant", expect that early next week at the latest. I hope you enjoy the show.

Airships: Conquer the Skies

Pitch: Build airships. Build cities. Conquer the world.

My expectations: Despite its slightly underwhelming art style, my first impression is very positive. It looks almost like my beloved SimTower, except the tower is a floating war machine bent on world domination. I can tell you right now that if I can name the pilot, she's going to be Wendy O. Koopa. My big worry is not with the game, but with me. I am currently being weaned off of one prescription and replacing it with another. My brain is mush. I'm look at screenshots covered in tiny text and numerous numbers. I don't know if I can handle anything too complicated today.

Review:

My fear that Airships: Conquer the Skies would be too complicated for my feeble brain was unfounded. Thanks to smart layout and clear indications of what issues require attention, it only took a few minutes for me to find my bearings. That’s when the trouble began.

The trouble: I’m committed to reviewing a new game every day. I don’t have space in my life for a new addiction.

The tutorial focuses on combat. Learn to fly a ship. Learn to fly a ship within range of an enemy, and let the crew fire away until your target drops. Learn to modify a ship. Build a ship from scratch—engines, fuel, crew quarters, safety features, reinforced hulls, and every weapon in your budget—and see how it does. Got all that? Now let’s talk tanks.

An hour-long tutorial is usually enough to drive me away from any game, but most of that time is spent playing, and it’s a blast. I started the main game, expecting more of the same, with a little connective tissue between battles. I was wrong.

Combat and ship-building are only slivers of this grand strategy game. Research! Diplomacy! Town development! And it’s all shockingly intuitive.

+ As dense as it is massive, and yet it's the most intuitive, approachable grand strategy game I've ever played. + Researching new parts and building for a purpose within a budget is RollerCoaster Tycoon-level addictive. + Randomly generated scenarios (that can be tailored with a million options), 100-ish different starting perks (I lost count), scenario editors, importing and exporting designs, mod support, and multiplayer that's as cooperative or competitive as you want it to be—this game is infinite. + Memorable music. The right level of bombast for a friendly game of world domination.

– Even with the UI bumped up to the largest setting, the text is a little too small, especially with the difficult typeface. Still, props for including UI scaling and a dyslexia-friendly font. – The default keyboard shortcuts are... They're all over the place. You can remap them, but there are so many. WASD moves the view, which makes sense. I wish they'd stuck the most useful commands on nearby buttons, but instead, it was up to me to figure out that swapping M and E makes life easier. – Hotkeys aren't necessary. The whole game can be played with mouse (although hotkey shortcuts are listed beside everything that can be clicked, making text even harder to read). Action scenes can be paused, so quick action isn't required, but the in-game mouse speed is slower than my Windows setting. Maybe I could dig into a config file and change it, but y'know, I'm used to my mouse moving the way I like. Why change it? – Even playing at double speed, idly waiting for money to accumulate and vehicles to be built can drag on for a bit too long.

Bottom Line: If Airships: Conquer the Skis has been an overlooked part of your Itch library since you got the Bundle for Racial Equality and Justice in mid-2020, download it right now, even this isn't your genre. I think you'll be surprised. I know I was. I can't give that kind of blanket recommendation at full price, but for the right person, we're talking about hundreds of hours of quality entertainment for $25.

Societal Rant: Election Day

Anyone getting their mail in voting ballots and then putting their “I Voted” stickers on their computers and water bottles? Good for you, you voted. I am a young person and mostly feel like my vote doesn’t count. Let’s talk about this. 

While I am a young person, I have people I talk to that are younger than me. They are old enough to vote but don’t think their vote counts. While I totally don’t disagree with them, they are wrong. 

Our political system is one of the best in the world, but isn’t it crazy to think that we have this many problems with a relatively good system? I would say, without apology, that we need to shake up majorly to fix it...or even start over. When I vote for a politician...you know the people supposed to represent the interests of the little guy in the big office according to the majority? That vote feels like a waste. They say what you want to hear, or what they think you want to hear, and then don’t give a damn about what you want. They are in the position to work on their agenda, and any money source funding said agenda. 

Does that mean I shouldn’t vote? Kind of. Like, we have a two party system and we need to have more parties, but votes to any non democratic or non republican nominee, that really has no chance of winning-is kind of a waste. But, let’s say you have someone like Trump on the “Republican” ticket and Biden on the “Democratic” ticket....and you don’t like Trump-a vote away from him helps someone other than him run the country. You are just one person, but what is an ocean but a massive group of drops? We still have the issues of ones own agenda, plus an ongoing war between Democrats and Republicans in our “balance of power” that can keep or help any president in their agenda. 

But, the presidential elections happen every 4 years and presidents actually have term limits. There are other elections, for the judicial branch and the legislative branch. Senators don’t have term limits, and really that could do with changing. But what about all those mailers and commercials for the propositions? 

Vote for the propositions. As a young adult, even an old adult, these things have more direct effect on you. Like one of the propositions to bring music back into school but at a heavy heavy bill. Like yes, I want music in school-but we need to be working that in within an existing budget not adding more money. Why? Because there is no such thing as a free lunch. The lunch that is free to one, cost someone elses money. The money for that propostion has to come from somewhere, it is usually taxes. And once they take the ever increasing taxes from you-there is no accountability to make sure the schools use that to add a music program back. 

The propositions for Fall 2022, I voted essentially all “no” on. The wording of the flavored tobacco one was heinous. We voted to not allow flavored tobacco to be sold, and it was about to be implemented. But before being implemented, we got the chance to “revote” on whether or not we really wanted it in place. I don’t know about you, but I know too many people with smoking problems because it tastes like a girl scout cookie. 

When doing your research on the political propositions-read the book, ask your self how you feel about it (don’t let anyone tell you how to vote), and if confused look up news coverage that shows both sides of any one issue. Vote and then mail it off. There are in person options if you don’t trust mail, but ignore that “election fraud” crap. Also, always consider the source-I hate to say it, but isn’t it always the loser or power hungry political group saying the system is rigged? 

Wonder where you stand on the political spectrum? Odds are you do not completely camp in Democratic or Republican. Me, I am more in the Green Party than D or R. Never heard of the Green party? Before I took this quiz, same. Figure out where you stand on either, or both, on these sites:

CHAT ABOUT THE DETAILS

Before you can start putting a budget together, you and your fiancé will need to chat about your vision for the day. Start making a note of all the expenses that you know you’ll need to factor in based on the type of wedding you’re looking to create. This includes everything from the cake and outfits to your transport and the venue.

Once you have everything in a spreadsheet you can start deciding who is going to pay for what. Remember to include any contributions that your parents might be making too. Now that you know what your budget is, tick off the items that are a priority and mark the items that might need to take a backseat or be removed completely. Make sure that you use this spreadsheet to keep track of all of your expenses so that you can stick to your budget.

SPEAK UP

As you start researching and enquiring with various venues and vendors, chat to them about your budget and what options they have that would fit in with what you can afford. Ask as many questions as you need to so that you’re not signing up for something that might come with added expenses later on.

WORK WITH A BUFFER

Working with a buffer is one of the best ways for you to stay on track. Try and work with a buffer of at least 5% so that you still have some budget leftover for any last minute expenses and splurges. For example, if your wedding budget is $50 000, work on a budget of $47 500.

PAY SOONER RATHER THAN LATER

The sooner you can start paying venues and vendors, the better. Knowing that expenses are already taken care of can really relieve some of the planning pressure. Remember to use your spreadsheet to keep track of all payments that you’ve already made so that you know how much you’re still able to spend.

CASH IN ON CREDIT CARD REWARDS

Before you start making payments towards your wedding, try and find out about any credit card reward offers that you might be able to take advantage of. Many credit card companies offer clients points that can be exchanged for cash or vacation miles, something that will really come in handy when planning your honeymoon.

I still enjoyed the game a lot more than Celeste, but I’m not seeing any of the creative expression that you mentioned. I didn’t find many scenarios where there was an option to choose between inks. It’s very much a pure execution test like Celeste. I also think it does a better job setting up its fiction compared to Celeste (do they ever explain why Madeline can air-dash?).īut I don’t really see much space for creativity in its level design. The game is a lot less strict in punishment, and it just doesn’t demand tight timing like other games in its subgenre (the physics might be a bit too loose in some cases). However, other games, such as the Fallout series, have allowed audiences to see the ramifications of their decisions to kill or not kill, and they don’t ask you to play them multiple times to experience the consequences. Fox seems to believe this binary option lends his game a moral dimension that we should care about, and if you play the game more than once (I didn’t), you can see how killing or not killing might affect the game’s world. The only significant difference (beyond Undertale’s amateurish use of bullet-avoidance action) is that you can either kill or not kill enemies during battle. Toby Fox’s Undertale (which I reviewed here) is another game that wants you to think its obstacles are different, yet Undertale is as repetitive as any turn-based RPG. Foddy should take note of games that challenge players to think about context and meaning rather than practice mechanics, such as Liz Ryerson’s Problem Attic and Will O’Neill’s Little Red Lie. So if you want a unique experience with obstacles in games, Foddy isn’t the answer. At one point, he said obstacles in games are largely “fake,” and one of his reasons was that you can overcome most obstacles “just by spending enough time.” But how is this not true for Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy or its major influence Sexy Hiking? You have to spend enough time, or practice, to advance in either of these games. In my review of Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy, I highlighted some of Foddy’s in-game comments on difficulty. To expand a bit more on Foddy, let’s take a closer look at how he views difficulty in video games. Jirai Kei Girl, Experience.

Hello,  I’m a Jirai Kei girl  And this is my experience getting into Jirai Kei. I’ve been wearing Jirai Since 2020 and I am enjoying it very much! I know the fashion was suppose to be a joke, and just blew up as a trend. But it’s real to me and makes me happy~! I got into Jirai Kei because I felt very awful...I knew that other people must have felt the same as me out there somewhere, but I couldn’t see or find these people so I felt very much not understood and alone. Until.... I was recommended Takayan music on YouTube. I’ve been listening to him for a while, but for the first time ever I actually listened to the lyrics. I’m sure I’m not the only one that listens to music and doesn’t actually listen to the words...hehe. When I did, I felt that for the first time someone understood how I felt,  I’ve heard of this happening to other people but I’ve never experienced this feeling myself. A feeling of a singer singing as if directly about you or to you. I felt very connected to his lyrics. I don’t care who calls me cringe for this, my experience is just as valid as anyone else’s about any other artist.  I’m already in the Harajuku community and I know about trends in Japan so I knew about  Larme and just general beauty trends already. Jirai kei uses aspects from other fashion trends and styles so I already knew how to dress “Jirai”. But, I didn’t know the name of the fashion yet and would just call it “Menhera fashion” for a while, and although technically still correct, the specific style I was going for was “Jirai kei”. When I started, it was during a lockdown due to the corona virus pandemic. I had nothing for Jirai kei because I don’t like wearing pink or black, so I didn’t have many clothes in those colors that would fit the style, the ones I did have didn’t really suit the fashion. Mostly Lizlisa print skirts and just basics for black clothes. Regardless, I didn’t want to wait so I pulled out an Ank Rouge black dress with a Kuromi print I owned before the lockdown and my cinnamoroll hair clips and slapped on some red eye make up that looked awful and I took some pictures. people seemed to really like how it looked. I hate how it looked now, but it was my start. I decided to give up on the make up, it just doesn’t look good to me. so I mostly focus on the fashion itself for now. My inspiration are the pretty JIrai Kei illustrations. I went as far as to find the real  items in the illustrations. I have managed to find and get my most favorite items, but I’m always seeking out more that would suit the vibe of jirai kei. Going basic seemed to be the best option so I attempted to create a classic pink, black and big ribbon look. I didn’t use anything fancy or even Japanese, it was really on a budget so I could see myself in a proper Jirai kei outfit.  It worked out well.  Still, I don’t really like pink or black, but I liked how the combination looked on me in real life. Like a real Jirai kei girl. It makes me feel connected to the other people that are also wearing this fashion, and makes me feel less alone. My personal way to make Jirai Kei more to my personality, preference and taste is to go for items that I would wear outside of Jirai Kei and genuinely love. It seemed to have worked for my favor, I’ve even been personally requested for Jfashion shoots and am currently debating if I want to be in a Jfashion explanatory E-book.  I am not the type to show my face to the world. I really do dislike how I look and only like showing my clothes and items. I have met only 2 other people that claim to be Jirai kei, but their outfits aren’t as classic as mine and they have a more loose definition of what Jirai Kei is, which is valid! I’m just going for the basics after all.. But because of this they seem to really want me to agree to be in that E-book. The fashion has really helped me a lot.  It made me feel connected to others, feel less alone, gain a new hobby that makes me feel happy. I got to try new experiences, like drinking monster and actually liking the pink flavor! I hate most of the others...I actually started a rating for my friends for the other flavors. I got to wear more black, I got to on adventures looking for the Items. It really has been a fun experience. even though it’s connected to an “awful” fashion trend that is just a “joke” and is “promoting” negativity.  For me, it gave me a home and a place to put my negative emotions into. It’s only a fashion, and fashion makes people happy.

Is there anything we can do to help if we don’t have any money? Like any organizations we can donate old clothes to? Or anything like that.

Yes, I am in Canada. It’s a good thing for having access to the universal healthcare. But ambulance and meds aren’t covered.

You are bringing a very interesting question here. There are many local organizations that takes donations for clothes, and food banks. Some are local organizations, some are national. They will put in priority kids and families, which makes some sense, but that means they are not going to help me.

In my case, I am ok for food, clothes, home and basics. Where I can cut is on quality of diapers that I need, cut some meds that will not kill me when I will stop them, reduce to the minimum my physical therapies, put a cross on everything that will cost money (fun, movies, Christmas, birthdays, dentist, optometrist, everything not essential at all.).

My stock of diapers is getting low, so, diaper donations can be an option eventually. I am working on finding ways to get some financial help from government, local donation centers, my city, any hidden disability programs that could exist, bank loan, family and relatives, also my special ed therapists. It seems like there is no way to maintain my physical therapies without paying them from my pocket. It’s literally a crack in our system. If I was still under 18, there would have been no problem at all to get help through many organizations and government, and universal healthcare system itself. I sold what I could, I have mid term to long term solutions brewing, but no short term ones. I need to fill the upcoming gap that will happen this fall until mid term solution take place.

If anyone have any good ideas, or might know any association who helps disabled adults in distress like I am, please don’t hesitate to post it here, or PM me. In worst case, I feel totally ridiculous to say that, but I believe it’s true that if a lot of my friends and followers could give one dollar, at the end, that will make a big difference for me! I will never forget ppls who already helped me! It takes critical situations to understand what this is all about. And the day my friends will need help, I’ll be there to help the best I can. In fact, I have helped my friends and my parents and family a lot when they needed it and for many years already!

Everytime I went to pick up my father at the hospital for heart attack, surgeries, any followups he needs to be accompanied, He always tells me he will pay my gas and parking. I never accepted any money from him, because for the number of times he and mom were there to get me in and out of hospital and specialists, I believe it’s my turn to take care of them and not worry about money.

I even bought a cheap car and rented an apartment where one of my friend in psychological distress would rather die than getting rid of his 2 dogs because he couldn’t find any places that were accepting his 2 dogs. He never paid me back, and I am very proud he is now happy, much better, and he helped moving 2 times.

I have helped another abdl moving from his shitty apartment into a much better place, and I did not charge anything. What matters is well-being of my friends, and he needed a bit of help to fill the gap btw the time he gets his 1st pay check and the deposit fee at his new apartment. It reminds me he didn’t refund me, and I wasn’t upset because he did work and be able to pay his bills. He doesn’t talk to me anymore, but I see him online here still, and I guess that’s fine if he doesn’t want to talk to me. I am glad I could have helped him the best I could, even if my own budget was not that great at that time.

Everyone is shitting bricks with that pandemic, and inflation. Well, not everyone, but a lot of us are struggling. I am asking money myself, while I donated 2$ to CHU Ste-Justine children hospital earlier this week, because my 2$ times thousands of people thinking the same way will definitely help them more than me, an adult with autism, and several health issues, who is still alive today, thinking that these kids need help even more than I do.

All that said, I am pro active right now, and I am still helping others when it’s possible. I deal with every challenge God is sending me. Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s frustrating, but I have hope that even ppls who follow me with no interest of getting to know me or talk to me can understand my situation, and am very open to intelligent alternatives to money if they are willing to help. But please, no disrespectful or stupid idea like that guy who wanted me to prostitute myself to get an easy 20 bucks from him because he wanted something in return.😑 Really? Sharing thousands of pictures and videos for free wasn’t already enough? He made me upset, I was sad, and I had to block this guy who started to be harassing me. I don’t deserve this, nobody does, and especially when it’s a serious situation here for me. I am more than just a random dude in diapers! I am a great hearted person with multiple talents and narrowed interests who is always here to listen to everyone, and answer the best I can and help .

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through? 

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

It’s a similar time frame, but not 100% exactly same.

Okay the crime show in Step 2: Growing up. Long blonde hair, police station, crime series? Was it The Closer? Because I’m the same age as MC and Cove and my mom was constantly watching that when I was 13. 😂 

Haha, yeah! The Closer and, to a lesser degree, Medium were the kind of shows I was referencing there. My mom also used to watch those back in the day.

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove? 

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺 

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you! 

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something? 

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2? 

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates? 

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird? 

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related 

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

I’m afraid Q’s full name hasn’t been publicly announced yet so I can’t answer here (Q and T are the first letters of the names for the new LIs in Our Life: Now & Forever).

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update?  I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭 

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references 

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive. 

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

how does your choices affect cove's interests or looks? i replayed the game without changing any choices but i got cove to look different, is it just random?

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3? 

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something. 

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants? 

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations? 

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted? 

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Asking for your opinion, but do you think Cove would at all be into ABBA? Because all I could imagine during the car trip in step 3 was him and the MC belting to Mamma Mia.

So throughout the game, Cove can develop different interests depending on the player’s choices; does this mean that he can have different careers in Step 4? Or his is line of work in adulthood never mentioned at all?

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

how would baxter react to bae pyoun and vice versa? and can you please detailly explain both love interests personalities from our life 2: now and forever? i was just curious, sorry for dumb question!! 

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

🌿 What tips would you give a beginner? What is something you wish you had know when you started?

well first off i too am a beginner ! while i’ve definitely been crafting a while, there are still so many techniques and styles and skills i haven’t tried, or have tried and failed at and am nervous about trying again — you’re never not a beginner, no matter where you’re at on your journey. not to derail this post but when i was practicing martial arts - a form of karate called seido-juku - it wasn’t until i hit black belt that i really actually felt like i could even begin on my journey of learning the skill. in seido - and many other martial arts - when you undergo preparation for a black belt grading, you put your white belt back on and stand at the back of the line in class, behind people who might have only just started. you have to stay humble in your practice and in your craft — and i don’t mean that you can’t be proud of your work, you absolutely should be, no matter the stage you’re at !! but i mean, you need to always have a beginner’s perspective. you need to always be prepared to work on your basic techniques because that’s where honing your skill comes from.

with that out of the way!

as a beginner, never feel that you need to spend a lot of money on a new craft. there are always budget options that are decent enough, or tips on how to save, or destashes, or substitutions. never feel like you need to splash big cash on materials or equipment when you’re starting our — you can always upgrade later when you’re feeling more confident, and donate or sell on or hang on to your old things as spares, or use older cheaper materials to practice on !

also - try to be patient with your learning curves. they won’t be the same as someone else’s. don’t compare yourself to others who have a different journey with learning and improving in their craft. be inspired. don’t be afraid to make mistakes. follow tumblr user @fourpatch and ask her questions because she gives the most detailed, considered, and enlightening craft advice i could possibly recommend. practice lots. take the shortcuts you need to and the longcuts you want to. be conceptual. be funny.

Sleep broken by the whispers of scheming hybrids in your kitchen, "She loves blueberry pancakes so we are going to make them," Jimin's voice was softened and traveled like mist through the air. Your ear twitched as you pretended to be asleep a little longer not to spoil their plans. It was amazing to hear them all cooperating with one another.

There was a knock at the door and you almost laughed when he called out, "Someone gets the door before he wakes Y/n." Namjoon said Jungkook and Hoseok scurried to the door and opened it with a long and heavy shush.

"Y/n is sleeping," Hoseok whispered hushing the boy

"We are making pancakes," Jungkook explained, helping Taehyung inside, he dropped his bag and huddled with the others by the kitchen bench, you were watching them in the reflection of the television quietly bickering.

"Can I put the blueberries in?" Taehyung asked excitedly.

"Jungkook already asked to do that job," Jimin sighed, “and before you ask, Yoongi is cooking them, Namjoon added the flour, Seokjin added the eggs and Hoseok did the milk.”

“So there is nothing left to do,” Taehyung sounded so dejected, you wanted to tell him it was the thought that counts but Jimin beat you too with a job claimed only he could do.

“Go out back and get a few cute flowers, not too many and you can put it in one of the nice vases for Y/n, okay?”

The hybrid was quick to scamper out the back door in search of flowers. The sweet sizzle of pancake batter in a pan made you breathe deeply. You gave them ten minutes, you were being so considerate even though your neck was cramped.

‘Waking’ to the clatter behind you, you faked a yawn and quickly stretched sitting up, trying to appear like you hadn’t heard the whole pancake ordeal. It was cute hearing them whispering hurriedly and clamoring around behind you.

“Quickly put them on the plate?”

“Wait, put the flower on the tray too.”

“Someone, distract her,” Jimin said while you tried to check your phone inconspicuously.

“Good morning?” Hoseok smiled dragging Yoongi over, you continued ‘answering an email’ slowly scratching your head.

“Oh, Good morning, just give me a second to finish this email,” You signed off the fake email and saved it to your drafts. “Okay, all done, sorry just replying to some important emails to the school. “How are you this morning, should I make some breakfast?”

“Uh, Yoongi wanted to ask something?” Hoseok said and you paused, “Alright, what can I help you with Yoongi?”

“I was wondering if today when we go shopping if we could possibly pick up some, uh…” He looked around for something to come to mind. He seemed to be panicking and you stood up and took his hand.

“Yoongi, you know you can ask for anything right?” you rubbed his hands and looked at Hoseok and back to him, “Is this something personal you want to ask me?”

“No, it’s like that, I was wondering if I could get a CD player?” He said eyes widening at the thought.

“Would you like a CD player and CD’s or I can get you a phone and give you and pay for unlimited music then it’s portable and I can get you a nice pair of headphones?” You made sure knew his options, “It’s up to you honey?”

“Uh yeah, portable would be great,” he blushed his toes curling nervously in the fluffy rug. “If it isn’t too much? I mean it probably is, so don’t worry about it…”

“No it will be perfect for your studying to drown out the other boys and I will get you all phones anyway so we can just buy the unlimited music pass.” You smiled “I want to spoil you boys and get you everything you need and more to be comfortable especially if you are going through university, I don’t want you to think or be stressed about anything bad.”

“Good morning!” Jungkook grinned and you turned to see them all standing around the table with the a pancakes, “We made you breakfast!”

“Nice distraction,” Seokjin clapped Hoseok and Yoongi on the shoulders. You made a show of enjoying the pancakes and shared them with everyone telling them to get ready to go out as you were going to be doing a big shop.

Once everyone was strapped into the van and dressed you headed out to the store and found a park. “Alright listen to me, no matter what I will not leave anyone behind, so I would like you to walk in groups there is eight of us so let’s walk in two groups of four. Jimin will lead Namjoon, Seokjin and Taehyung, I will take Jungkook, Hoseok and Yoongi.”

But for now everyone follow me you guided them into the store, if you ever get lost please find an information desk in any store, they are marked with an i and they will make an announcement letting me know where you are. Otherwise, this is your temporary outing bracelets that have my name and number on them” You handed them out and they all grinned.

“Now that you know all of that lets go into the department store fore some clothes and such,” You handed Jimin a card and told him the budget he had and you all began exploring. They all trailed after you unwilling to part and well you were shopping in the same area. “Yoongi, this looks like it is your size, do you want to try it on for me?”

“Jungkook, these are your size, try them on too, I will be right outside” You smiled, we can talk the entire time. “They went in and you were talking to Hoseok and Taehyung who were giggling about different clothes”

“Seokjin, that’s a lovely shirt but try it on love the shoulders look a little narrow, Namjoon, that is interesting” You laughed watching Namjoon make strange outfits.

“Y/n, what about this pretty shirt?” Jimin asked passing Seokjin who took two sizes to the dressing room.

“That is from the ladies section,” Namjoon pointed at the blouse.

“Clothes aren’t gendered Joonie, you can wear any clothes in this store, I have this jacket at home and it is made for men but I look cute in it.” You explained, gesturing to the jacket and turned to Jimin “Go try it on, with these dress pants Jimin, I bet it will make you look really handsome”

Someone cleared there throat behind you and you smiled, Uh, that sweater is too big Yoongi, we will get you a smaller one and Jungkook they look really good, so if you want to find clothes in these sizes you may”

Seokjin stepped out and placed the smaller size on the returns rack and you took his shirt and placed it in your basket. Watching Hoseok and Taehyung and Namjoon head to the dressing rooms with fun styles.

“How do I look?” Jimin stepped out looking long legged and like a prince charming.

“Like an angel?” you laughed, “your hair is getting a little long do you want a cut?”

“It is a bit long isn’t it, maybe I should cut it,” He laughed fiddling with the ends.

After clothes, you went to a store for shoes and then to a restaurant for lunch. It was after lunch waiting by the toilets that Yoongi and Jungkook expressed their interest in an electronic store wanting to look at their headphones and computers. You sent them over but they walked back quickly.

“What happened?” You asked confused as to why they came back so quickly, they couldn’t have looked at the phones that quick. Their ears were pressed down and they looked upset.

“They kicked us out,” Jungkook mumbled, “They called us strays and said that we couldn’t shoplift in their store”

You told the boys to all put on their best outfits and walked over to the store when all your Hybrids finished in the bathroom, “hello, I am the owner of these Hybrids, we were looking to buy seven top-of-the-range laptops, seven phones, and a gaming console” You smiled but it was forced.

Jungkook and Yoongi’s ears were pressed back and their tail between their legs and you hummed, “which one said it?” Jungkook pointed at the young woman and man at the side of the store looking jealous.

The manager came out and you smiled, talking sweetly. He turned away and you winked at Jimin, “They said what to you, that you were strays and you couldn’t shoplift in the store, which ones said it, those two over there” 

The two in the corner paled as you glared at the manager. “Your employees discriminated against my Hybrids.”

“We apologize they were not exactly dressed befitting to their stature?” the two tried to excuse themselves.

“Does that excuse you, I am sorry, but we might have to take our business elsewhere?” You growled quite annoyed, “These are highly sensitive young hybrids who have not had the best upbringing and you want to discriminate against them. Because they were dressed in different clothes than you deem allowed to be rich.”

“We sincerely apologize and we would like to offer you a deal,” The manager said, and you looked up at him, “We will give you our highest rate of insurance absolutely free and I will have my lovely employee Mister Choi hear take you to our private room’s and make you some drinks. Mister Lee and Miss Kim you can wait in my office.”

The young man took the drink orders and ran off, you took the moment to make sure your hybrids knew you weren’t upset with them.

“I am sorry I made a scene, I just don’t want anyone to ever look down on you, I want you to be respected as if you were human and I want you to know you are worth so much.” You consoled them patting their heads. “I would like to add the necessary programs for university students to have to be added to the laptops and I would like a selection of the best games for the console, I would like these phones here, I hear they have lots of colors, and I would like one of each color, so they don’t get mixed up.”

“For the seven laptops, phones and console and games I will throw in a free phone for you miss and insurance up to 13 years for every product and each laptop will be equipped with the required paid programs to help them through University.” He smiled as mister Choi came in with drinks he handed out Hot Chocolates and coffees.

“Are you Park Jimin, the billboard Calico?”

“Yes, that’s me, I can’t really autograph anything, a government rule” He laughed, “But I will let them know about the companies excellent service and sympathies in regards to the fair sale of products to Hybrids”

“Yes many companies, are quick to add secret fees on top but your documents seem to all be checking out., I could recommend the store as a source for the new expansion they will be needing a good computer system?” 

The manager wiped his forehead sweating profusely, you had to hold back a scowl.

“This is tasty,” Taehyung hummed, his legs swinging back and forth on the seat, he was just enjoying his hot chocolate oblivious to the weight of your presence in the room. Catching his comment the manager looked up.

“Would you like to add the coffee machine, it really does make great hot chocolates?”

“If we add a coffee machine which would be greatly appreciated I would like to have some good quality headphones for free for the two your employees hurt with their words and a music subscription family pass for all the members on the phones..”

“That will be arranged,” He nodded, wiping his brow again, “Your total is forty thousand,” he said shocked but you expected it at almost four thousand each for the best laptop and almost two thousand for the best phones and a console and games and a coffee machine.

“And you are paying on credit?” The man asked, it was nice for you to leave with so much stuff and Yoongi was quiet on the drive home. Guiding him into his bedroom you sat him down to talk.

“Yoongi, I don’t want anyone to ever say anything about your worth alright, they have no idea how much you mean to me and how important you are” You stressed sitting beside him.

“Yeah I know this program means a lot to you and you don’t want it to go wrong so you got to keep us all happy.” He mumbled standing and walking to the door.

“Yoongi, no at the end of the day I want you guys to be happy in the moment if this program fails I want you all to have had a good time,” You tried to reason.

“Yeah before we get sent back to the slaughter.” He muttered, “Please get out,”

You took a deep breath and left the room unable to argue with Yoongi. Your eyes couldn’t help but sting as you stepped out into the hall.

How I Would Humble NHL Players

An essay written by bigboigritty. 

I would humble hockey players the only way I know how to, by sending them to Australia. Let’s suppose that they have decided to hold the All Star game over here (forget about it’s usual date) (forget that some players I have listed below might not be invited) (and while you're at it, please forget that Australia’s rinks are Not Good).

I think that they would suffer but in an entertaining way so it’s fine. 

First of all, their biggest concern is getting sunburnt. It would effect all of their dumb asses but I’m particularly worried about Pierre-Luc Dubois and Mitch Marner. Boys are practically translucent. Vince Dunn would be fine, he’d probably wear a shirt most of the time which is a very smart decision. 

You may wonder why I didn’t mention Nolan Patrick because I am a certified slut for him, well I don't think he would have a problem. He would spend most of the time inside and when he joins the others, I think his Virgo ass would reapply sunscreen. Maybe he would burn slightly but I don't think it'd be enough to make him uncomfortable. 

Another thing that I think they will gain from this experience is a higher pain tolerance. Now you’re probably thinking, “Zoe they are NHL players so they can handle pain.” Wrong.

Real pain is running barefoot on cement at theme parks while you race to get to the next ride. Also getting into the car and having to avoid touching every piece of metal to not get branded like a cow. Or better yet, when the heat gets so bad that there’s a black out because everyone has their air conditioning turned on.

Don’t get me wrong, I know that other countries have scary animals but I would pay to see them panic over ours. Crocodiles here can grow up to 5.2 metres / 17 feet. We have a box jellyfish season where it’s advised to avoid swimming or wear wetsuits for coverage. Funnel web spiders can survive underwater for hours by trapping air bubbles around their skin. We have several of the worlds deadliest snakes present across the country. 

Listen, I don't want anyone to get injured but the constant fear that they would have when doing anything would be enough to make me happy.

My biggest question is who would survive in the shady areas, who would survive the eshays?

Under no circumstances can you look them in the eyes or cross their path. They are not to be feared individually but in groups caution is advised. I think the players would attempt to assert dominance and that is simply not an option. You are better off to ignore the eshay.

Nolan would have no issues here if im being honest. He is big and I don't think they’d find it worth it to fuck with him. But you know who they would target? Matthew Tkachuk. “Where are you going pretty boy?” “Oi braa did we hurt your feelings ya pussy cunt?” They would make fun of his hair in particular. 

Travis Konecny would be an eshay. I don't think I need to make further comment. (So would Louis Tomlinson but I am not a 1D account and I will continue to repeat that until it’s true.)

I would also give them a few iconic tasks to get the true Australian experience. Activities for the ‘vacation’ include triathlon events, beach flags, bush walking and climbing the harbour bridge. They could attend a cricket match but they tend to like golf so unfortunately they would probably enjoy this :(

AFL is an extremely popular sport here and I think they would loose their shit when they learn the rules of this game. No protective equipment is used other than mouthguards, that's it. That’s all you get. And jumping onto other players for leverage is encouraged. I would thoroughly enjoy the fights that would break out because of this.

Another task would be to use a map to make their way to a servo for a slurpee. The catch is that they will be required to pass through multiple alleyways. Also, the season is Spring, it’s swooping season mother fuckers. Let’s see how brave you are when birds chase you down the block. Personally I don’t think any of them would pass this test, maybe McDavid because the birds may not be able to detect a heartbeat.

Australian food would disgust them, I just know it. Things that they would need to try are a Bunnings sausage sanga, fairy bread, lamingtons, baked beans on toast, Milo and Vegemite. Because I’m me I would give them no butter with their Vegemite. 

An after thought I had was money so I’m editing this to include it. Everything here is EXPENSIVE so they would need to learn how to budget. Upon doing research, Canadians would be fine but the Americans will be mad.

Another after thought was the fact that they won’t be able to drive (or at least drive well) here. We drive on the left and not the right, same goes for walking paths too. I can sense a lot of them bumping into people.

Where I think players would live based on vibes alone:

Carter Hart and Vince Dunn: North Shore Beaches, NSW. Daddy’s money. Carter probably did Nippers whereas Vince was a skater boy. 

Travis Konecny: Darwin, NT. Would 100% live there and enjoy it. He would try to conduct crocodile tours but gets assigned to feeding the baby crocs and doing shows for little kids. 

Tyson Barrie: Perisher, NSW. One of the only ski resorts we have to offer, major friendly mountain man energy.

Nolan Patrick: Byron Bay, NSW. @antoineroussel enlightened me, steering away from my original thought of Katoomba, NSW. Byron Bay is a magnet for hippies and links rainforest to the ocean. Chris Hemsworth and his family also live there.

William Nylander: Perth, WA. I don’t know much about Perth other than they wouldn’t shut up about partying while the other states had to quarantine. For some reason, I also associate Perth with Tik Tok. 

Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid: Melbourne CBD, VIC. These two would live in the same apartment building in the city, Connor one level above Sidney. It’s the most boring looking block of them all and Crosby would send in complaints to the landlord about McDavid pacing during the night.

Tyler Seguin: Surfers Paradise, QLD. Party central, not many people are actually from this area and he would be sure to tell absolutely everyone that he was. I also think he would get a Meter Maid tattoo, specifically on his leg. Has definitely slept on the beach before because he couldn’t find his way home.

Jamie Benn: Hobart, TAS. Tasmania is usually forgotten about. Another one with mountain man energy except he is more creepy than friendly.

Mitch Marner: Fitzroy, VIC. @antoineroussel is responsible for this one too. Hipster central, makes you question how the hell someone so young can have so much money. Would chug $45 wine and not blink an eye.

(honourable mentions include = Sammy Blais: Hobart, Tas. Once again no comment on Tasmania. TJ Oshie: Cairns, QLD. Would do reef tours. Haydn Fleury: Western Sydney, NSW. Haydn would 100% own a ute or a white holden commodore and you can’t tell me otherwise. Roman Josi: Adelaide, SA. Small town history teacher vibes.)

Fairy bread - White bread with margarine and topped with 100s and 1000s / sprinkles. 

Meter Maids - Women who work along the beach dressed in gold bikinis. They top up parking meters to save tourists from getting fined and will often stop for photos. 

Nippers - Surf lifesaving programs carried out for children between 5 and 14. 

Ute - A pick up truck.

Eshay - A person who partakes in drug use, graffiti, listens to EDM and targets victims in groups. Below is the typical style of an eshay.
