act 2 observations. entirely about gale. as i am now playing through the beginnings of act 3

(im slowing down my gameplay a bit because i dont want it to end. even tho i have other kinds of playthroughs in mind lmao):

the act 2 romance scene fucking broke my heart

i was seeing a couple bits of discourse online (who doesn't) where some folks think gale love bombs a bit to try and secure a relationship with you bc he doesn't believe hes good enough. or something along those lines. the love bombing comments stick out to me.

and i got a bit worried, because ive fell for love bombing irl before and i was like. fuck sake not again cant fall into the trap of another abuser

so i was thinking, he did pull the i love you thing rather quick.

but then the context of the scene hits and like. actually? no i dont think this is love bombing at all

in this particular scene, he believes its his last night alive

that in any other circumstances, he wouldve courted you properly, said the words leading to a "i love you" properly.

he also still doesnt believe you love him back? and is taken aback when you say you do?

also if i was in the position of my tav (who is entirely a self insert btw, i made them look like me even, albeit a yassified half elf version lmao)

i would genuinely say i love you back because holy shit i could also die at any moment on this adventure where i could become a mindflayer at any moment, or if a goblin got particularly stabby

• Astarion most likely cried that first night when he said he'd keep watch, the threat of the Mindflayer, and the first few breaths of freedom, all so overwhelming, I imagine he went hunting and then just cried that night

• when Lovissa saved Lae'zel, Astarion got a little jealous that they talked the entire way to the Emerald Grove, and left Astarion in the back.

• Lovissa showed off to Astarion during their first battle together, she knew he was older than her and she really wanted to show him what she was capable of, in the beginning though, Astarion would never admit that he was auctually impressed by her.

• Kaga definitely told Lovissa off for being a Wood Elf and not following the life of a Druid. That night, Lovissa hid in her tent and cried, Astarion paced outside her tent, her quiet sobs twisting his heart in two, but not sure how to comfort a complete stranger.

• Astarion joked with her and flirted with her while they walked, and then, being happy that he was able to walk in the front of the group with Lovissa, he'd feel his walls comming down whenever they talked. But before he got too comfortable he'd put them back up

• the night Astarion attempted to Bite Lovissa, his heart was racing, but he somehow knew she'd be the easiest he was caught.

"You dont... hate me?"

• the first time Lovissa herd about Cazador was when they had defeated the Gur, Lae'zel and Shadowheart desperately attempted to have Astarion thrown from camp. But Lovissa wouldn't listen to them, and that's why Astarion pursued her.

• After Astarion and Lovissa fucked, Lovissa was distant, she had thought she wasn't satisfactory for Astarion and that was the first time he broke her heart.

• When Lovissa used 'slight of Tounge' to get the ring off the goblins toe, Astarion asked to hear every sordid detail of where she learned that, and she blushed softly, unable to find a way to be mad at him.

• After the team successfully defended the Grove, Astarion actually tried to find a truly romantic spot for him and Lovissa. He kicked himself for overthinking and caring about her.

• the second time Astarion broke her heart was when he said "I love you" at the Tiefling party. But he didn't really mean it

• When they walked to the Underdark, Lovissa got the sense that Astarion wasn't really a fan of the Underdark, and it made her feel bad...

• she helped Astarion decipher the marks on his back, her touch gentle and made his hair stand on end. He felt so guilty that she was helping him.

im so mad bc any character who is not human or realism/white passoid is literally regarded with the same type of dismissal that you would see in mainstream media. all the companions that are not white passing are treated like shit and have bad ends.

-Lae'zel (gith) gets abducted by the a bad guy for the last 1/3 of the game (also we could talk about her being the fighter class as default is also a bit racist, but the deep dive will be its own essay). and then she can die and not be able to be resurrected. (resurrection scrolls and revivify spells ONLY work on companions and not npcs)

Wyll (THE ONLY BLACK HUMAN MAIN CHARACTER, side note we could talk about how is name is spelled like a white mormon names their kids) is a big talking point bc he is constantly strung between the expectations put upon him by himself, his family, and then his pact matron. AND NO MATTER WHAT OPTION IS CHOSEN WILL CONTINUES TO SUFFER IN THIS EXECUTIVE PURGATORY. He starts as a "i have to kill this devil" actually its a tiefling (suddenly its now fantasy racial infighting, so of course u dont wanna kill another companion so early in the game, so Wyll is forced through Hell's Circles and the exposure makes him grown large demonic horns. (Wyll does not have control over his body or himself, nor his actions, and only suffers the consequences of the actions of the Tav (PC)). Wyll even gets to have the "I did everything for my father's (approval just to have my father misunderstand me and then the most noble course of action is to be independent because i am still bound by choices prior and also if two black people form any sort of family on screen its disgusting and blasphemous so I might as well treat my father like my brother who i never was able to relate to when i was younger" THIS IS NOT MENTIONING THAT WYLL IS LITERALLY THE SON OF THE DUKE OF BALDURS GATE. HE GIVES UP HIS STATUS OF NOBILITY TO BE HEROIC AND IS JUST FOREVER CONTINUALLY PUNISHED. THE DUKE OF BALDURS GATE IS BRAINWASHED TO RELINQUISHING HIS TITLE AND CORONATES THE WHITE DEVIL EVIL DICK BAD GUY WHO SOLD KARLACH (TIEFLING) TO HELL FOR GIGGLES.

Karlach (tiefling) is a bright eyed noble hearted character that is looking for solace after having 10 years of her life taken from her when she got sold to devil and hell and made a war machine slave because thats perfectly tragic. Her heart is taken from her and replaced with an engine (machine) that is slowly killing her when she is not in Hell. THE ENGINE DOESNT EVEN HAVE A GOOD IN GAME MECHANIC, YOU GET TO SET URSELF ON FIRE TO GET A 'HEAT' DEBUFF THAT U CAN CONSUME ON AN ATTACK, you build heat any other way, so its like only <Lv. 4, and if you minmaxed the opening scene, you get a 2h sword that does this every attack, so like its a bit moot and useless. Furthermore i think its really stupid that shes yearning for companionship and yet is not allowed because her engine makes her to hot to touch. Which rubs me the wrong way as a black transfem (u could argue tiefling coded) because I already feel like that. I feel like im too intense and hot with my passions and i intimidate people to the point that I'm actively denying myself the intimacy i crave so dearly just by existing and expressing myself. The taxation of life shouldn't really exist in video games!! The whole party gets mind enslaving brainworms that magically dont work because the plot armor is really strong yet the demon character who EVEN WHEN THEY SEEK HELP IN THEIR COMPANION QUEST ARE DENIED THE REALITY OF LIVING COMFORTABLY BECAUSE THEY SHOULD ONLY EXIST IN HELL. (cried actually). Before the last of this mess, she offers to turn into a mindflayer just to give herself the peace that she could be the hero that saves the world (become the villain because its better than who you currently exist as, or die being yourself (who has LITERALLY BEEN DEMONIZED). Karlach doesn't get to have have a happy ending because she either dies from engine overdose or goes to hell just to fucking breathe. THE KICKER IS THAT WYLL, THE PERSON WHO WAS GOING TO KILL HER AS PART OF THE WARLOCK PACT, OFFERS TO ACCOMPANY HER IN HELL AND FIGHT BY HER SIDE. WHICH MEANS THAT ALL OF THE MARGINALIZED IDENTITIES EFFECTIVELY FUCK OFF AFTER YOU SAVE THE WORLD.

White victim Shadowheart has the option of rejecting what she knows (which was a lie told her) or believing it. The worst she has to do is kill a bound seraphim, and free her parents held captive by putting their souls to rest (she turns them into light, killing them). She gets sick weapons. Clerics are busted anyway.

White devil astarion got to ascend in pale supremacy and got cool vampire powers (bite+, bite++, buff on kill, and consume buff for heal || next hit crits). The final battle WAS BUGGED FOR ME. I WAS STUCK ON THE BOSS FIGHT FOR TWO WEEKS BECAUSE THE END OF BATTLE SCREEN WOULDNT LOAD. LIKE I MADE A WHOLE NOTHER CHARACTER BECAUSE I BEAT THE BOSS 7 TIMES AND MY BUGFIXED DIDNT WORK!!

day 1 i dont have much to show for this day visually bc i wasnt actively documenting... but essentially, i: made my character, went through the beginning tutorials and stuff, took the little brain guy with me, saved shadowheart, and crashed on the beach. then i stopped playing. here is the only image i took before i got off LOL

day 2 ok. so: shadowheart is cool as fuck. i LOVE her already. cannot wait to strengthen the social link with her or whatever the hell you call it. get the friendship numbers up. this fuckass poem had me dead:

so i switched gale out in my party with him LMAOOOOOOO and had a conversation with astarion about how hed kill me if i started turning. i asked what he would prefer personally and he said decapitation. which was CRAZY. so i was like yeah sure king decapitate me if i turn. do your thing. i trust your judgment

also talked to shadowheart bc i will seize every chance to learn more about her

then i left camp, talked to kagha while looking for a healer, got them to free a tiefling girl through more persuasion rolls (BECAUSE IM GOATED) and talked to the healer nettie who was fixing a Regular Bird

she told me how strange it is that we arent turning, to swear on my life id drink a poison if i saw any symptoms (which i of course agreed to, shadowheart approved and astarion did not) and stopped playing on the way to rescue halsin. fun times!

unfortunately due to my pc death i no longer have asuras cc stuff so she will need to be remade but... this is asura shes literally terrible. shes my unfortunately extremely power hungry character who will accept every single option to make her stronger. she fucks mindflayers. and minthara. and she and minthara will rule the entire world together as tyrant wives and maybe they ascend. true love stuff. asura won't live until i'm confident minthara isn't a broken fucking mess . i think playing asura will make me worse. shes like how people play bhaalist durges who love their daddy but shes not the durge. shes just a bad person

THIS IS TAV. yeah his name is tav. they're just a tav man idk. this is my first character from full release tav is an ancients paladin whose entire vibe is "you don't quite suite your oath" and that's fun. they are the most lawful good boring ass motherfucker you ever met and literally my favourite type of character. he's all about Justice and Order and Goodness and Sacrificing Your Happiness For The Greater Good. that kind of annoying paladin! <3 tav never got to finish the game because my pc died and killed them. oh and tav has a twin who dedicated their life to annoying tav because .. like. lawful good paladin? DESERVES to be annoyed

which is really funny because the twin is my EA character! also tav! see the thing is. paladin tav is actually tav. but this monster? tav isn't their name. but they go by tav. just so they can hopefully fuck with their twins reputation. doing terrible things in their lawful good twins name!!! i still can't decide if i want twin tav to work with the guide and kiss nine-fingers keenne or work with the zhentharim and kiss rugan. or maybe they're a double agent and kiss both. idk!!! twin tav has literally no moral compass and just does shit for money mostly. and to make their twins life hell <3

and lastly i have this dude who doesn't have a place on my oc page because he doesn't have a name or nothing like. he's completely blank beyond i KNOW he's something to do with afhiri. so fun fact afhiri's lore was leading towards this dude being some sort of outer planes entity, either a god (dead star) or the herald of such, and baited afhiri through a portal as part of her destiny. this is how she gains her wild magic. BUT this was scrapped for what ended up happening (afhiri befriends a chwinga. cuteness ensues). HE STILL EXISTS IN AFHIRIS LORE SOMEWHERE - HE IS LITERALLY A COMPANION IN HER PARTY - when my pc stops crashing every time i play bg3 he's going to be on my blog a lot because im gonna use fancy editing to make him a companion and shove him in cutscenes. afhiri and he will kiss btw. i definitely don't want him to be actually a tiefling though this is just a form he uses to walk faerun and not to cause any ruckus... and to make afhiri feel ease around him <3 ALSO HES NOT ACTUALLY AFHIRIS GUARDIAN... u will see who is when my pc stops dying <3

Ultrakill WAIT OF THE WORLD update review

this review(?) WILL contain heavy spoilers for the new content, especially P-2.

alright, lets get all the other stuff outta the way on some rapid fire points.

S.R.S Cannon Rocket Launcher variant: sorry but i havent really used it so dont ask me.

Radiant Enemies and sandbox updates: i like the radiant enemy system, being able to modify speed, health, and damage without the hassle of mods is much appreciated. Although the boss health bar modifier is a bit broken on enemies with a name with multiple words it doesnt display the spacing. and sometimes the name is just wrong. like the FLESH PANOPTICON just displays as "fleshprison" (this doesnt happen with the boss version)

Dev museum: its a nice and relaxing place to just chill, learn about the beautiful people who worked on this game, its history (such as scrapped weapons and early enemy models) and just watch the nice scenery. also there are some fun secrets and a neat minigame

5-S: gone fishin'

And now, the main attraction...

P-2:

ok. so the pre boss fights are amazing. a massive gauntlet of some of the most powerful enemies in the game. Swordsmachines, Ferrymen, Mindflayers, and an invincible stalker sanding every enemy within a 500KM radius and there is nothing you can do to stop it!

Now the bosses.

FLESH PANOPTICON: it is very similar to flesh prison and has a good fight ost but it dies way, WAY too fast. (yes i know its kind of the point but still a disappointment.)

and now...

SISYPHUS PRIME

easily the most brutal boss in the game, he has a range of lightning fast and high damage attacks that are able to be parried but the sheer speed and already relatively small window makes it difficult even for more experienced players. his design (especially in the 2nd phase) is great, i like that his face is only defined with blood red markings. i love how he is built like a powerful weightlifter or sumo wrestler and his 6 meter (roughly 20 foot) height makes him very imposing and strong looking. his voice is amazing and almost EXACTLY what i thought we would sound like. Even his entrance is epic as hell, ripping open the Panopticon FROM THE INSIDE after V1 barely weakened it and then saying "this prison... to hold ME?" is almost scary and it made my heart rush like nothing else. the music... oh THE MUSIC IS SO FUCKING GOOD! Just like the fight itself, the theme is similar to ORDER exept faster, more powerful with loud and imposing drums and the melodies just personify how powerful and sadistic he is.

overall its the best fight in the ENTIRE game IMO and the update as a whole is one of the best ever. the update has been out for just over a day and the community is going insane. And some extremely talented people have already P-ranked it.

i don't (really) believe in flickergate although i think it's a cool idea

i dont mind the idea of mike and will getting together 2nd half of the season

i think if el is the main one to kill vecna/mindflayer/whatever then i think that's kinda dumb as her powers have never been shown to work as it all just keeps coming back and getting worse but if she is the main one to defeat vecna then i think she might loose her powers completely from the energy and possibly pass out for a bit (or die but i dont really think any character is dying) as her powers are connected to her physical state which is why her nose bleeds every time

hhhmmm the paladin and the cleric one has me pretty neutral tbh like y’all are gonna come at me for saying this but, idgaf abt ep names. Like yeah, they give us a bit of an insight of what could happen but then again, I think the Duffers are super sneaky and mischievous so the titles might just be them trolling us.

Byler getting together at the second half of the season is more important to me. Like I’d wouldn’t mind if during the previous part the Duffers had built them up. If they get together rushed and shit, I’d be a bit disappointed but beggars can’t be choosers, right? And at least we’d gotten byler endgame. Although I’d be mad as hell and would throw my TV out the fucking window tbh

and I’d hate that el is gonna be the one to kill Henry ngl. She has way to many screen time imo and other characters deserve to be fleshed out more. Like I get it she is one of the main ones but the og party has been practically forgotten in favor of el’s powers. Not even her personal development! Personally I’d like Henry’s death to be teamwork between all the party with Will and El showing their powers and twin dynamic.

Am I missing something? Why do people keep ''theorizing'' that Henry took Will to the Upside Down when literally it is all very clear that it was Henry? Who has the power of telekinesis to capture Will like that aside from Henry himself? the Demogorgon cannot do it, the MF cannot do it AS IT DIDNT EVEN SHOW UP until S2 anyway. It literally couldn't reach or do anything and it doesn't have telekinesis powers so... who would have done it besides Henry?

We see the lights flicker at the Wheeler's house the moment Will starts to bike away. We see that the TV at the Wheelers house doesn't work which are all effects of telekinesis. So, what is there to theorize or deny?

We see Will running to the shed, there the shed's door unlocks by itself. I see people saying that it was El who did it. Which doesnt make any sense. If El did open the door, then who did capture Will to the UD after the light at the light at the shed shone like crazy and then Will disappeared out of thin air? Even if El did unlock the door and then got scared and ran away, who flickered those lights at the Wheeler house and broke the TV?

The UD isnt stuck in the past in the literal sense. It just looks like past because someone (Will prob) shaped it to look like November 6. It is not stuck in time in actual sense.....
