I noticed that there's not a lot here for Withered Freddy here yet, let's fix that!

May I request prompts 32 + 36 (from your prompt list) for the big guy? General setting I had in mind is that the darling is working the night guard shift and withered freddy has managed to make it into the room with them. However, the darling has managed to put the freddy mask on so now he's struggling against his programming because he KNOWS his darling is in the room with him, but his sensors are telling him otherwise (due to the freddy mask) so he starts getting irritated (I'm a sucker for tense moments).

... with a controlled shock?

The worst part of Freddy's is no doubt the night shift. There has been horror stories surrounding past guards and how terrible accidents happened at night. You admittedly didn't believe them. No one did.

Not until you took up the job to increase your meager salary by just a few dollars.

That's when you were subjected to the most stressful situations of your life. People thought you were crazy when you said the robots came alive at night. That they went against their programming... that the older models walked at night when they were supposed to be off.

No one believed you. Not even when you said the old Freddy model was always staring. You were threatened to continue on or this'll be a stain on your record.

You were forced to adapt.

Speaking of the old Freddy model, it has indeed been acting weird towards you. Freddy has been strangely interested in you. Even with his poor eyesight due to a busted right eye, his code still worked.

He had been trying to break through his erroded coding for a long time. Despite being a withered machine, he was aware. Way more aware than his old friends or counterparts. He knew everything that was going on...

He was even aware of you, a human night guard whom he's watched from the shadows. He knows he shouldn't feel alone. Yet once you realize you are the only sentient machine... you want real company.

Freddy feels you will be the perfect companion for him.

Unfortunately he still hasn't broken fully from his code. His old optics still try to tell him you aren't there in that office when you put that stupid mask on. It irritates him.

He knows you're there.

He just needs to coax you to show yourself...

In a way, he gets it. The others may harm you as they've done countless guards before you. However... he won't.

Freddy promises he won't as long as you show yourself.

He can almost hear your breathing when he thunks his way into your office. Watching from the hallway tonight was boring now. He needed to see you personally, in the flesh.

He leans forward over your desk, optics glowing while he scans your form. The bear narrows his eyes, trying to decipher harder with his eyes and scanners. You were there...

Why can't he just see you?

Meanwhile the silence consumes you. All you hear is the whirs and clicks from the robot in front of you. Your heart beats faster as your breathing picks up from under the mask. You're wondering why Freddy hasn't left yet.

Nornally the bots check in, see the mask, then leave. All except for Foxy and the Puppet.... Wait...

Foxy and the Puppet-

"Come on out, friend."

The old bot's voice has hints of static and a failing voice box. You can still understand him it's just... creepy. You stare into his glowing eyes through the mask like a scared animal.

"There's no need to be so frightend. I don't want to hurt you. However, you'll need to make a decision soon. That puppet gets rather... cranky and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to convince Foxy to leave you alone."

He can't entirely register you but he knows you're there. He just wishes you'd trust him. Hopefully bringing up the actual threats will convince you.

No dice, you won't stop until he leaves.

"Listen to me, dear. I need that mask off, it won't save you forever."

His eyes flicker in and out, frustration building within him.

"Don't act like I don't know you're there..."

The voice box growls at you, making you back up in your chair.

"I'd hate to hurt you but... if you keep this up I might have to."

"Leave me alone...."

Freddy hears your voice, just barely a whisper. His ears click and he eyes you up and down. Why was it so hard to follow him?

"... I promise to be your bestest friend if you be mine. We can be happy. Entertainment is built into me."

He's speaking sugar coated words. He's patient but even that's wearing thin. If you keep rejecting him... well he just may bite.

"Time's almost out, dear... allow me to take you to safety or accept your fate by the others who aren't fooled by your trick. It'll be... devastating to see you go."

You stare at each other in more silence. The tablet on the desk blinks with warnings and you realize you do have no choice. It was death either way....

You remove the mask with adrenaline making your ears ring.

The bot smiles at your decision, standing up straight.

"Good choice."

You hear noises from the hallway... then the bear you tried to trust lurches forward.

His solution to preventing your fate was to lock you away. The bear knew everything in this place. Including all the storage spaces.

The walls looked dirty and full of grime. Boxes littered the room and the bot in front of you stares down at your form. You were out cold, not dead, just docile.

It was the only away to get you to not struggle as he carried you away, feigning death in front of the others who no doubt would hurt you.

His scanners trail up and down your resting body. The cardboard cushions you from the hard floor. The bot then sits beside you with a metallic clank.

A withered hand lightly touches your squishy skin with the bear never taking his eyes off you.

The room was small but not many would find you here. Even if they did, he'd hide you in a suit. No one will find you when he hides you.

Everyone will think you died like the rest...

Meanwhile Freddy will get to keep his new friend.

Hello kitty island adventure has a day night cycle in game as well as a real world day night cycle for daily events. If I built an android 3 years prior to hello kitty island adventure was released (2020) and then set it up to play the game on the day of release, keeping in mind that 2020 was a leap year and therefore had an extra day, and for every day the android plays, 5 days in game have passed... after how many days have passed in real time will time in game meet and then exceed the time passed in real life?

Okay. Basically this question is asking me if my robot pal were to play 5 days in game a day at a time, when would the in game time and real life time meet up. So I should start with finding how many days are in a year and then what that is equivalent to in game time. There's 365 days in a year, but 2020 being a leap year it has 366 days sooooOOOO... (365×3)+1=1096.

1096 real days/5 game days=273.75 real days make an in game year.

273.75 real days ×5 game days = 1369.75 real days total passed.

273.75 real days +1096 already passed days= 1368.75 real days total passed.

Basically how much time is left until the game is in the future, planting the year of its release (2023) as if it were year 0.

So we just gotta tweak the number by a little bit. So now we'll go to 273.8 for both numbers, and find our first equation has moved to 1369.75 real days total have passed as 273.8 real days have now passed after the initial 1096 days had already passed.

And then plug that in to (5X) and see that 1369, so a small increase, but still a .25 increase is a good number to work with.

So the skeletons of these increases are sort of like this. Every time X increases by 1, our first equation increases by .05 and the in game time that has passed since the game started is increasing by .25.

So...

So idk how I managed to gain this reputation but at some point I just started to write every "creature"/gremlin/goblin character under the sun. And yeah ofc I enjoy it purely because they are the ones who'd you probably catch trying to weld two pieces of bread in the kitchen at 11PM instead of just being a normal person.

The runner-up would probably be completely selfless individuals who really need to take care of themselves rather than worry about everyone else. Bonus points if they are super apprehensive over people trying to do good back to them. Because god forbid someone does NICE to them back. I also write rat bastards but they are far and few due to needing a very special dynamic to keep 'em going.

Honestly a lot more than most people think. I know its kinda weird (and funny) to get all sappy over fictional characters, especially always jokingly saying shit like "oh she's/he's just like me fr". But I guess(?) there are certain characters I write & used to that I look at and go "wow this is something that, even if exaggerated a bit, is something that could've totally been a situation I find myself in."

NOW I'M NOT SAYING I'm a android robot with a love for explosives (even if that) does sound cool but I guess without getting too long winded they mean a lot of different things. Either my desire to get someone to laugh or try and tell a somewhat compelling story regardless of whether or not it landed well in canon. I'm a sucker for a lot of those things and I tend to gravitate towars ones where, even if their "story" is finished I would love to see how they act in all their post-story glory.

chris' legitimate pokemon scarlet review broken down into categories for your viewing experience (spoilers duh)

CHARACTERS: love the guys in this game. all of team star are so delightful arven is great and nemona is a new fav rival. i wasn't expecting to like clavell as much as i did but he was super fun. gym leaders for what they are (they play very minor roles but thats just how pokemon is aside from bw1 where they show up at the team plasma castle) are super good i especially liked ryme she's awesome. i felt the character writing was a lot better than last gen and they balanced the 3 rivals a lot better tho this could partly just be because of the three split stories focusing on one each.

POKEMON DESIGNS: mixed bag. loved a lot of them like tinkaton the ancient paradox pokemon and tatsugiri. meowscarada quickly became one of my fav starters i love its design and personality. but some of them didn't really do it for me. especially the bugs

HUMAN DESIGNS: really nice. i'm glad pokemon is continuing to diversify the body types of its female cast. i love the women + girls in this game. mela, eri, geeta, sada, rika, katy (I LOVE HER!!!!) and ryme were especially standout designs for me. the guys have cool looks too. i like brassius' edgier take on a grass gym leader and atticus autism warrior!!!!!

STORY: really good. i'm not kidding like god damn. i loved it in this game. it's easily in the big leagues with sun/moon, the gen 5 arc and pla for me (though i just like pla because it's rehashed pmd lol). the starfall street plotline was cheesy but i loved it , i love to see autism friend groups. they're very sweet. path of legends has an excellent motivator in 'your buddy's dog is sick' and like FUCK dude i'm not letting this guys dogy die!!!! arven is a very sweet character so it's nice to help him out. victory road is more standard fare but i liked the new take on the elite 4 (the interview and there being multiple champions). but obviously the closing act really sells it for me. i've seen people say it makes less sense in scarlet because sada is caveman themed, but i honestly think this made it more interesting. if i was playing violet i wouldve been like ohh yeah of course the guy in the glowy robot space suit is an android but the juxtaposition between ancient and futuristic stuff in scarlet makes it more impactful imo. i like how a futuristic ai can only function with the power of ancient crystals, ties it into both games nicely. plus sada sacrificing herself is a little sadder since i doubt there's more chargers in dinosaur times than the far future (she's double DEAD dead). i'm also just a sucker for evil ai and glitch effects anyway

MUSIC: gooooooood!!! there's been some mixed reception on the gym leader theme but it grew on me. penny's theme is one of my favs but all of the team star related ones are good. the area zero theme is genuinely incredible

GAMEPLAY: it sure is a pokemon game. i had some performance issues mainly loading times before/after battles and after cutscenes. i crashed randomly once during the orthworm mission when i went into its tunnel but nothing to the extent i've seen online (not to say it didn't happen). for what it's worth, i was playing it in handheld. but the basic pokemon battle formula always entertains me. the new gimmick is pretty so i like it.

VISUALS: it absolutely could be better but it's not distractingly bad. it's more just servicable. the updated textures (and sometimes models!) of pokemon look good and the humans look good too. definitely improved some animations (but i missed gloria's unique little tiptoe animation downstairs from swsh). the environment flops a lot, especially when it's not in towns.

(How's My Portrayal?)

Wow... Just... Just wow... That means so much. I'm really glad that not only do you enjoy the portrayal of my muses, but also like the story I made to bring them together.

It's funny how this all started as just a canon divergent Bass.EXE rp blog that grew into a Multimuse. Even back then, I knew I didn't want a new muse to just pop in out of nowhere. There was always a story of how they came to join the team, which is why I usually give them an introduction page for them to explain how they joined in the first place.

I've always been a sucker for crossovers, but it was probably Into the Spiderverse that gave me the idea to make a Multiverse for my blog so I wasn't just limited to Megaman Battle Network muses on my blog. (I think it also makes it appropriate that Peni Parker and SP//dr eventually became muses here)

I also knew that with the Multiverse, I didn't always want to bring in the canon version of a muse. That's why I threw some curveballs here and there, such as a Duo.EXE who valued the good in the world rather than focusing on destroying all the evil in it, even if it meant destroying the good that comes with it. But I'm also a huge fan of redemption arcs, and I love bringing in a muse that was on the evil team, but clearly wasn't evil themselves, such as Storm Eagle and Elise, and give them proper arcs to redeem themselves rather than have them killed off like in canon.

And Mr. Tinker... I really loved the character when he was introduced him, and even though it was inevitable that he would go back to being Dr. Eggman, it still made me sad to see Mr. Tinker leave. That small moment when Eggman considered going back to his life as Mr. Tinker did spark some inspiration, but it was this comic made by SkullxCake and wonderfully dubbed by Swordtee40 and his crew that made me want to explore the idea of Eggman remaining Mr. Tinker after getting his memories back, thus making him a muse here, so I think we have them to thank for that.

Terios is an interesting case. I wanted to have Shadow as a muse, but didn't want Shadow as a muse at the same time, so I thought I'd use a Shadow Android instead. And this would work since I already had Mr. Tinker as a muse at the time. But I didn't want to just make him a cabon copy of Shadow, neither, especially since there were already so many other Shadow RP blogs out there. So I thought it would be best to give this Android a clean slate and have his own personality that's different from Shadow's. So I went with giving him a childlike personality since he was activated not too long ago. In a sense, he's a lot like the early days of Emerl, being a childlike like learning robot. Also kind of fitting that he sees Emerl as a brother. And to further solidify the Shadow Android being his own person, I gave him his own name, which comes from what Beta Shadow was originally called; Terios.

And man, was I an instant fan of Freedom Planet when it came out. I loved the gameplay, the story, and the characters, and it was a dream come true to get to interact with Freedom Planet muses like your Carol and @lilmissheropants Lilac and Milla. I was a little surprised that I didn't have a Freedom Planet character sooner, but I also knew it was because I didn't know at the time how to make it work with the Multiverse story at the time... But then I remembered one of my favorite characters that didn't appear in Freedom Planet 2 was perfect for the story. I've yet to see a single RP blog who had Torque as a muse, and wanted to change that. And since we don't know much of what Torque's been up to in Freedom Planet 2, I wanted to explore that. I'm glad I'm doing well portraying him because I enjoy writing him. The same can be said for my other muses like Terios and Mr. Tinker.

Again, thank you for the encouraging words. I want to become a professional author someday, and I feel role-playing is a way to improve. It's such an honor and a privilege to be able to write alongside talented role-players such as yourself. I sent it in already, but I'll say it again; Your portrayal of Carol is amazing and is a joy to see on my dash. Hi luv. I wanted to ask you what some of your favourite ships have been throughout the years? And what was it about them or their dynamic that drew you in?

Hey there, lovely! Oh wow, great question/s...let me rev my mental engine and see what memories come sputtering out...

I'm assuming you mean the slashy-goodness pairings, rather than the het ones?

Assuming that's the case, as far as the dynamics and what draws me in...there's a noticeable trend with the pairings I like, though I'm not sure if it's required exactly, but seems to be how the slashy-cards fall...which is the whole old as dirt 'enemies to friends' (and in my headspace, lovers) trope. Oorah, I do love a good 180 on all that super-charged energy. I also happen to be a diehard sucker for warriors/cops/soldiers -- this, undoubtedly, is the biggest draw for me.

Yeah, warrior trope (in its myriad forms) is my hands-down favourite. It's what I write and what I enjoy watching/reading. Most of the m/m pairings I like have the dynamic of wit/banter, opposites colliding (though not always), strong male energy (effeminate guys not my thing), equal footing (not a big fan of the top/bottom, uke/seme dynamic, though I can roll with it if both characters stand strong in their male energy no matter who's 'on top'). I also appreciate a bigger picture sense of urgency, depth, or story, that draws the characters together rather than a domestic or fluffy kind of setting (absolutely nothing wrong with either of those, just not my cuppa chai if that's all there is to it).

In no particular order of preference...

Scott/Stonebridge (Strikeback): warriors/soldiers...Yank and Brit. SAS and Delta. Hell and Yes. Mercy, I'm a puddle on the floor. Great combo.

Jorian (Almost Human): cop and robo-cop! Fascinating concept of an android with empathy/emotions partnered with an anti-robot detective. All up in there with this ship. Layered, funny, great chemistry. Was so gutted they discontinued the show after only one season *cries*

Destiel (Supernatural) -- Ooooh, now this Titanic vessel comes with a big caveat insofar as my kinda ships go. I'm predisposed towards what I like to call the pre-Castrated version of Cas (you see what I did there? (^_~ ) Yes, I'm a muppet), where he doesn't allow himself to be treated like such a bloody doormat. Take Cas outta the 'lost puppy that constantly shits the self-esteem rug' persona and thrust him back into his more 'you-should-show-me-some-respect’ warrior energy and I'm aaalllll over that. Doesn't mean he has to lose his fun and endearing quirkiness, or even his devoted attitude towards Dean...but the whole I'll-be-your-punching-bag passiveness for an eons old entity (a 'warrior of god', no less) just rubs me wrong. Ridiculous how epic this pairing would've been if it made canon (though I supposed it kind of did...was legit, albeit unrequited...as far as we know and can assume.)

Rickyl (Walking Dead): cop and...er...outlaw? ;) Loved so much about their dynamic and the depth of their bond. The way they read each other. There's something animal in it at times. They've been through some hella bad shit together.

Sterek (Teen Wolf): ha. Jokes. Now this one is certainly somewhat of a curveball for me, but I couldn't help it, given the brilliant way Dylan O'Brien played to this ship. Not my usual go-to for several reasons, but it tickled me and was good fun.

Thanks for the ASK, Anon! <3 Hope these gave you some indication. The last one is a bit tongue in cheek. I'm sure there are other pairings that just aren't springing to mind and I'll probably kick myself later for it. Either way, these bring back fangirl memories ^_^

Ok I guess this week has been all about going through a bunch of short stuff (and finishing one old thing I was almost done with), so you get to drink from the firehose.

The old thing was Bayonetta 2, which for some reason I took a break from for like 2-3 years. The first game had a bunch of good ideas in it but felt like it wasn't quite finished to me, but this one improved on all that and polished everything better, and it was a lot of fun. I'm not great at it, especially not after trying to jump back in in the middle after not playing for multiple years, but I was managing ok by the end at least. It's just non-stop nonsense that's constantly escalating and getting more ridiculous, and somehow they manage to pull that off. I kind of almost wish they leaned even more into the camp aspects of it sometimes, because the moments where Bayonetta comes across as "what if a cis woman was a gay man?" are always fun, and I'm always a sucker for female characters who are kind of snarky/bitchy/sarcastic.

Subsurface Circular was pretty good too. I knew the name Mike Bithell in the opening credits sounded familiar but was not prepared for it to directly reference Thomas Was Alone (the original thing he became known for and another great game) at one point in the story. "You are a robot detective solving robot crimes by talking to other robots on the subway" is a great premise, and it went in some reasonably interesting directions I wasn't expecting by the end. Some of the characters are kind of fun too.

I gave up on Can Androids Survive really quickly, like a few minutes in, which is a shame after how amazing Can Androids Pray was. I actually have a feeling it's probably fine or even good, but I didn't love the default controls, and when I tried to remap them the game softlocked. I'll probably give it another shot at some point when it goes on sale on itch.io or Steam, but the Switch version isn't happening.

Florence was pretty cute and good though. It's another one of those things that manages to tell a story and develop its characters with almost zero text or dialogue, and it does it well. I don't really have a ton to say about it beyond that it's a good use of a couple bucks and less than an hour of your time. Oh, and that I appreciate the stuff they managed to pull off entirely through very simple gameplay, like showing characters getting closer and more comfortable with each other just through how you put together speech bubbles for implied conversations. Very simple but very effective.

And then finally there's Death Becomes You, which I have mixed feelings on. I guess I'd call it a yuri murder mystery VN with much more emphasis on the murder mystery than the yuri. There are definitely some good ideas in it, and I like that it's not afraid to focus on toxic or even abusive relationships and recovering from them, and the world it takes place in is more interesting than I expected. That said, the writing isn't really my style overall. Some of it works pretty well sometimes, but I had a bit of a rough time getting into it at first because of how unlikable the characters and their interactions came across at first, and not in a way that made me want to know more. I did warm up to them somewhat, but like a review on Steam put it I was more intellectually interested in what the story was doing and not so much emotionally invested in the characters or what was going on. Also most of the endings feel really abrupt and like they needed slightly more to them to feel like they were really earned. I'm still curious what they'll do in the future though because there's definitely potential for something interesting there.

Yep, I got suckered in by that post credits scene into watching the robot idol anime for a whole five episodes before I got sick of it. To be fair, a robot violating one of the three laws of robotics is always a bit of a fun time and the visual of a flooded Tokyo for a setting was fun, but then we remember this is really just an idol show with some extra set dressing and it gets to be a little less fun. 

I'll give it that the characters are nice and varied, but the downside is that they're also pretty shallow. The second that it was established that the idea of family essentially triggered interest in one of the main characters and there was presumably a similar trigger for each of the characters, they did get a little less interesting as you knew how things were going to go in a lot of conversations in the series. They're not invested in a situation, someone gets their trigger hit, now they're all in because one of them is.

I was willing to give the series a little more of a shot, though, since there were elements of it that were at least a little interesting, like that aforementioned mystery with a potential killer robot and the way that our main androids might have some connection to actual people from the past. However, the fact that the moment to moment of the episodes is fairly standard idol show fare has me worrying that those intriguing elements aren't going to be followed up on. 

I am a firm believer that things on my drop list aren't always a forever drop, so I may come back to this in the future if it does end up resolving some of those elements, but the too simple characters and boring idol elements are driving me away for now. I feel like it just could have been a more interesting series if they hadn't felt the need to put the frankly superfluous idol content in there, even if it is some of the better CG idol sequences so far this year.

Hm, just stopped by to ask if you had any favorite android/robot models? I'm a sucker for the 80's/90's anime portrayal of androids since they seem so full of character and charm.

I've tried to think on this for a while, but I don't know if I really have a lot of good answers. In terms of favourite androids or robots two come to my mind, and they're very opposite one another:

GLaDOS from Portal, as she's very much so a machine, in terms of appearance and behaviour. She was built for one thing: testing. It consumes her, and she has to do it, its beyond a compulsion, its an intrinsic part of her existence. She is very inhuman, especially at first, but over time that unapproachable behaviour changes, from an emotionless, single-purpose robot to something more resembling a disgruntled mother who has had to deal with her troublesome child in between her 2 part time jobs. She is, ultimately, a robot becoming human, but not a particularly nice person (though as with any person she does have something of a nice side). I like GLaDOS' story because she becomes human in a way, but it's on her own terms.

On the opposite of this, in a number of ways, is Malfina from Outlaw Star. She's very humanoid, she's something of a bio-robot, and she doesn't really know her purpose very well at all at the beginning of Outlaw Star's story. She learns it over time, and comes to accept her inherent humanity that she possesses and what her function is. It's not the most complex character story, but her constant doubt of herself and that burning question of "why do I exist? I was made for something, what is it?" really made me enjoy it. Also everything in Outlaw Star is just intensely charming, so she gets extra points for being a part of it.

I know this isn't the most novel take on android characters ever, but I have my likes, as plain as they are. I guess there's something to be said for the case of "does this android/robot/alien character really need to become human?", and I think that's something worth questioning. The arc of "robot character becomes human" has been around for a long time, and I rather enjoy it when its done well, but I especially enjoy it when its toyed with (a part of why I enjoy GLaDOS' arc so much).

But the morality and ethics of robots and the like having human-centric ideas applied to them sometimes feels questionable. Non-human lifeforms will always be removed from humanity, but do they need it? Should human values and judgements be placed on a manufactured lifeform? Some level of conformity is necessary, so long as one is living in human society, I feel, but to what level is that expected of them?

OK this has devolved into pondering moral quandaries that I can't find an answer to, so I'll say that's enough for now. Thank you for the ask ditzy-kun, here's a Lucky! for your troubles.

1. Everyone Has Bad Days -- Man, I always gotta show love for the first....I wouldn’t be anywhere without it, and though it’s pretty venty, and I don’t really like the writing anymore, just.....I love the story. Love

Of course I love this one, Fives' fic AND Fall Out Boy?? I knew you would come up with something awesome but this... This is absolutely wonderful.

I just love the delight, the comfort in knowing that the war is over, and there will be no more fight to the death for the clones. For these men who will finally do something else than die; they will finally live.

It's not until Echo nudged him that Fives sees you approach the ramp with quick feet, colliding into him with a force so strong that he stumbles back a little, and yet, it's the most grounded he's felt in a long time.

Again, I screamed a very real scream when I read that. It's sad; but also beautiful, to be the one person that grounds him and offers him enough comfort and care and that feeling of safety-

'Don't ever let me go,' you press into him, and the way he squeezes you just a little tighter makes you melt.

It does make me melt. I am a puddle. This quote alone cured my anxiety. No but; for real; I just love these silent moments. I am very vocal about my emotions and feelings for the people I care about; but sometimes words aren't enough, or argent quite right so we turn to these silent exchanges - a look, a pression, a touch - something to let you know it's okay. I love that.

Fives meets Jesse with a proud grin, his hold on you relenting except for the one arm he keeps around your waist. 'Not tonight vod,' he breathes, meeting your eyes as you turn to face his brother, 'I'm going home.'

And Fives' words repeat softly in your head. He's going home. […]

That home is wherever the other is. It is the one thing that perseveres beyond the war. It is the one constant Fives' has ever had the choice to have, the one thing you'd never give up for anything.

This. This is it.

Being someone's home is so personal and meaningful. The trust, the care, the feeling of safety- everything that comes with the fact that you are someone's home.

And for it to be a constant in a life and a galaxy where everything keeps changing?? It's the same energy as Ari's fic It's been a long, long time.

It's comforting, and it gives me hope. This is the essence of Star Wars - hope - and you depicted it so perfectly.

I am honestly amazed and in love with this fic. (And Fives.)

This one was a bit painful but also tender; let me explain.

'Hunter sold me as a droid today.'

He continues, 'I know he doesn't think of me like that but...it was hard enough being treated as a clone and now...I don't know what I even am.'

This. Is very painful.

I absutely love Echo, right. I adore him, he's awesome and handsome and kind and funny and he's Echo.

Yet he doesn't know that. He doesn't know who he is anymore- "what" he is.

What. That's so painfully sad. Like I said clones are already caught in this sort of identity crisis because what are they? Clones? Soldiers? Men? Brothers? Humans?

And now. Now Echo isn't even sure he fits the last category anymore. And it honestly pains me when people call him "android" or "droid man" because he already feels so self-conscious about this. And yes- he has prosthetics and robotics implants- but never should he be considered less of a human because of them. He's still Echo. He's still human.

He changed, but he's still Echo.

His next words are whispered, afraid of receiving an answer. 'Tell me you'd love me more if I weren't...' the words catch in his throat, 'this.'

And this is the moment where I tear up because.

This.

I can hear it. I can hear the pain and the fear in his voice and it honestly breaks. My heart.

How deeply rooted is his self-consciousness? How deep does the self-hatred run for him to think so little of himself??

I hate it here it just makes me so angry and sad for him.

My handsome boy deserves BETTER.

'You handsome man,' you jest, blessing him with a short kiss on the lips. 'You ready to sleep now?.'

I love this because I always call Echo "my handsome boy" or "handsome boy" and that's 1. Because he IS handsome like have you seen the man?? And 2. Because I believe if he hears it all the time he will slowly but surely believe it. He will accept that he's handsome and maybe feel less self- conscious about his body and himself...

I just need him to feel loved and beautiful because he is.

And I mean... Soft. Domestic. "You ready to sleep now?" is something you tell to someone in such a casual yet caring way and I am absolutely here for it.

This fic is just- I would react the same way reader did. It's so obvious to me he's absolutely trustworthy and nice and smart and handsome- he's filled with qualities and so many reasons to love him and care for him.

I mean- Echo. He alone is a valid argument.

Anyway, this fic just has me feeling much love for Echo and you made me fall for him again;;

Anna. This fic right here is. You made me cry. You had me crying while reading it because it's just.

The song alone is already- you know, very bittersweet and nostalgic in a way; and you managed to write something so perfect it's- it's not the fic matching the song. It's the song matching the fic.

I read it again to write this review - with the song on loop obviously - and I got tears again. It's just that powerful.

But your anxiety melts away as he gives you a slight smile, offering his hand to you, 'You'll have to lead the way.' […] He would always trust you, he has never felt otherwise.

I can't even explain how meaningful that it. It means so much to him, and he knows; and you do too. There's a level of trust and intimacy here.

'Just...hold me.'

Don't ask me why, but reader saying this is low-key making me emotional.

'Do you want this?', he murmurs, […].

You take an agonisingly long time to reply, your eyes flit between his, searching for any sign of hesitation, or regret. But you don't find any, as much as Crosshair is good at hiding his emotions behind an impassive and collected facade, you see the silent plea in his eyes, a longing for more.

Tears. Very real tears. The care and respect and trust and love this question alone holds. It's just. So delicate and soft, I just-

And then-

'Are you sure?' he whispers, so close to you, basking in this intimacy.

Girl if you wanted to make me cry you just had to say it, right? Like, don't mind me I'm a sucker for this; being so intimate and respectful of your partner that's like- everything.

Honestly that's what everyone deserves.

He lets out a light laugh, it's beautiful, reverberating deep in your heart, a sound so rare that you try hard to commit it—and the way he looks—to memory.

I promise you...

The candlelight surrounds your face in a halo-like glow like you were sent from heaven. It's a blessing.

...you hold my heart. This is poetry. This is art. This is comforting and lovely. And I am tearing up once again.

I can't even. Explain. How sweet this is. No words can express what I'm feeling as I read this. The comfort. The reassuring tone. The f**king Mando'a nickname.

Your arms open pathetically when he lets go of you, an invite for him to join you under the covers. But he looks at you in pure adoration, a sight that's so peaceful, so domestic, that he finds himself letting his mind wander, imagining that this temporary room was a home, a place where he could spend the rest of his days with you, away from war and the empire.

My heart is aching. A lot. It's so peaceful yet so tragic in a way, but they don't see that. Again, it's just them; this moment of intimacy, of domestic life where nothing else matter but what they are sharing right now.

Somewhere only we know.

This fic is awesome. I love the dynamic between reader and Crosshair, there's this very obvious alchemy between them and you manage to write about it with limited dialogue and amazing descriptions. I am absolutely in awe.

Also- Confident Reader? Love that! Especially in a Crosshair fic! And it's great because we also see a glimpse of Crosshair having self-esteem issues, so there's a sort of shift where for once Crosshair doesn't have the "upper hand" and reader isn't all shy and flustered you know (though I absolutely love these kind of fics too!)

But yeah- their dynamic was really interesting!

This is so lovely; him holding on tighter because he doesn't want to move, because he feels good here and that's the best way he found to let you know...

I shall do that drawing again because it's absolutely HILARIOUS and I just adore this fic because it's so light-hearted and sweet and funny!

It's a feel-good fic, the one you read when you need to clear your head a bit; and I promise you the laugh I had reading it!

And I just love the dynamic between Hunter and reader; it's awkward yet there's a lot of alchemy and you just know they do like each other a lot and are just struggling to express it directly.

Psycho Analysis New Year’s Special: Roy Batty

(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)

There are villains, and there are anti-villains, villains who do evil but who evoke sympathy because while their actions are heinous, their motivations are sympathetic and understandable. And there are few villains in all of cinema and even fewer anti-villains who evoke quite as much sympathy as Roy Batty.

Roy Batty is a Replicant, designed for combat and made to basically be a slave as all Replicants are. And despite all this, Batty merely wants to be free and live his life, and in fact prolong his life as he does not have a lot of time left – Replicants like him only get a few years at most. And so he murders and tortures his way through people who might have the answers he seeks, and yet, despite all this Roy Batty never once stops being sympathetic, he never stops being someone the audience can somewhat empathize with. We condemn his actions, sure, but he always remains a tragic figure.

Despite being ostensibly the villain of the film, Batty manages to have a defined arc that gets just as much attention as Deckard, fully fleshing him out and making him something of a villain protagonist from a certain point of view. In fact, Batty is not just a great villain and a great protagonist – he’s probably one of the greatest characters in all of cinema.

Actor: Phillip K. Dick, author of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the book Blade Runner is based on, is quoted as saying Rutger Hauer was "the perfect Batty — cold, Aryan, flawless." Batty was designed to be the perfect being, a flawless specimen of man, strong, smart, and driven, and if any man in the 80s exemplified that, it was Hauer. In a career of great performances, this was Hauer’s finest, and most of that comes from him inspiring so much of what we love about eh character, doing little things that wre thrown in because he felt it made Batty more interesting. Of course, the most important thing Hauer did was change Batty’s scripted dying words into something far more poignant and beautiful, but we’ll get to that shortly. If it isn’t clear, this is an absolutely perfect performance.

Motivation/Goals: Batty has a simple goal, but a goal that drives him to desperation: he wants to live. And he wants to live because he can’t bear all of his memories being forgotten, washed away by time and forgotten. He wants to be remembered if nothing else, but he goes to murderous lengths to achieve his goal… though frankly it’s seriously hard not to sympathize with him considering that he’s an escaped slave desperate to leave some mark on the world and live free going up against a cop who is legally allowed to hunt him down and terminate him. I suppose it is part of the point that we should sympathize with him; he’s more human than human, after all.

Personality: It’s actually interesting to note that Batty is well-read, intelligent, charming, and philosophical… which is the opposite of our tough, gritty noir detective protagonist Deckard. Much has been made of Harrison Ford’s, let’s say, “understated” performance in Blade Runner, but frankly I find it to be a deliberate choice to contrast against Batty: we have a machine that is all too human going up against a human who is bland and robotic. It ties in very well thematically with the film.

Final Fate: After spending the climax beating up Deckard and basically going bonkers after the deaths of his lover and friends, Batty regains his composure, saves Deckard’s life, and, well...

Best Scene: ...he dies. But not before he laments on how all the amazing experiences he has had in his short, tragic existence will die with him and end up forgotten. This is one of the most beautiful soliloquies ever put to film, and while I’m not the biggest fan of the film as a whole, I am an enormous fan of Batty and this scene in particular. I tear up every single time I watch this; Hauer’s performance here is so powerful.

Best Quote: As if it could be anything else aside from the “Tears in the Rain” soliloquy: “I've...seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like tears... in... rain. Time... to die...” This quote becomes all the more tragic and poignant as Hauer passed away in 2019, a few months before the month his character died in the 2019 this movie envisioned. It’s a sad, eerie coincidence that only serves to empower these lines even more.

Final Thoughts & Score: Roy Batty is one of the most beautiful and poignant characters in all of cinema. Everything about him is just so appealing on a character level, and it amazes me because he’s really the only part of the movie I love. The rest of it has just never vibed with me even a little bit – but Roy Batty? His struggles are always relatable.

While obviously it’s not likely you’ll know what it’s like to be a slave, it’s pretty common to have that sort of existential dread that Batty has. I know I’ve always feared dying alone and unremembered, all of what I am being forgotten as I fade away. Maybe that’s why Batty resonated with me more than the rest of the film and certainly more than Deckard: you can give me all the gritty cyberpunk noir with Harrison Ford you’d like, but it won’t mean anything if you’re giving me a deeply existential and philosophical cyborg superman desperate to either extend his life which is rapidly burning out or at least somehow preserve his memory so that his existence is not utterly forgotten (this last bit actually makes his casting as the replacement for Master Xehanort all the better; The Nobodies had similar themes, what with their Proof of Existence graveyard and desire to have their hearts returned).

Adding into what makes him so engaging to me is the religious symbolism, something I’m a sucker for. Batty ends up as a strange and complex fusion of both Lucifer and Jesus, descending from the sky to free his people in spite of the wishes of his god-like father. He does resemble many stereotypical depictions of Lucifer, as well. But then we get to the more Jesus-y bits, such as his affinity for doves and the fact he dies with nails through his palms and a dove in his hands. He’s such an interesting Messianic archetype.

Batty is clearly a 10/10. That 10 is pretty much solely for the soliloquy too; if only I had more of an excuse to give him an 11, but sadly Batty hasn’t had the massive impact on popular culture that he deserves, which is a shame. Batty is still a perfect villain regardless, and a perfect character to boot, no bones about it. In the end, while he never succeeded to extend his life, he did end up getting what he wanted on a meta level: Roy Batty, to all who have seen the film, is eternally remembered. His memories are not lost to time like tears in the rain; those memories live on in us. If Batty were real, I hope he would be satisfied that his short life was not in vain. 

I think it says a lot that he doesn’t appear in Blade Runner 2049, and yet... as the film ends and K lies dying, Vangelis’ “Tears in the Rain” plays over him, drawing a direct connection between the dignified, tragic end of Roy Batty and the heroic sacrifice K made to save Deckard and ensure he could finally meet his daughter. Roy doesn’t need to appear at all; just invoking him in spirit is enough to make a scene all the more beautiful and poignant. If that is not the sign of a great character, I’m not exactly sure what is.
