ridi im sorry i need to rant and i think youll get it 😭 like not to be a bitch but this fandom kinda going off the rails and annoying the shit out of me https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRbYASpf/ everybody in the comments unironically loving it,,, i mean wtvr ship who you want but its kinda getting delusional like ppl are just operating on thin air and pretty fancasts atp and i do Not understand or emotionally connect with any of it. at least w wolfstar theres so much material and foundation to explore but what is all the rest of this?? just hot celebrity fancasts and crack. to be fair part of me respects taking a terfs canon material and making everybody gay but the way it seems to be so oversaturating fics and the fandom that characters dont even feel like their original selves .. atp its all just surface level OCs
hello! yes! i'll be honest talking about things like this always make me a little nervous, and i feel obligated to preface anything i say with a disclaimer that none of it really matters, nothing i say matters, and you should do what you like, because--who cares. i am not an authority on--anything, frankly. my opinion holds no more weight than the next guy's, and all i'm doing here is giving it, so. essentially what im saying is--people are perfectly entitled to disagree with me, but people are not entitled to be mean to me about it xx
having said that. it is my personal opinion that s x barty is one of the worst fucking things i have ever heard lol. who even is barty who is that guy. why would s be interested in him at all. i do not understand it it does not make sense to me. from where are we sourcing the character traits and personality that we are giving barty that would ever endear sirius to him, because it objectively cannot be canon.
overall i do not get the new interest in barty + evan + pandora (+ regulus, but we won't go there)...at all, other than guessing that people were bored with the marauders and wanted a new version of them (and new celebrities to fancast) while simultaneously changing next to nothing about them other than superimposing them onto the first slytherin side characters they could rustle up. i expect ive become a bit of a broken record in regards to my dislike of the popular meow-meow-ification + complete absolution of regulus as a character in order to make him a loveable oc (just as i think erasing all the negative traits that r/s have in order to make them more likeable is just as boring), and all of that applies to those other guys as well (with the slight difference that they are, somehow, even less interesting and significant than regulus in canon), so i won't get into that too much. but i think what you say about having no emotional connection to any of it is exactly right lol--it is a sort of shift? i guess? in the fandom that is simply of no interest to me. they are characters that i just have no emotional investment in and admittedly struggle a little to understand why other people do. i am emotionally invested in, like, five characters overall (and even out of those--there's only two i'm really here for innit xx) and i personally cannot extend that investment to a creepy little side character who is mentioned maybe twice in the entire series.
and that is okay! i do not need to understand it. i don't want to say it annoys me because honestly--i don't go there, its nothing to do with me. if i dont like it i just wont interact with it, and the fact that it doesn't interest me has no bearing on what other people are into or want to do, and i couldn't give less of a shit what people do with the canon material, which is largely garbage anyway. take the bits you want from it, play around with those and ignore the rest. in that respect we are all doing exactly the same thing. but yeah i think s x barty is genuinely awful lol. hate it. very terrible. he's already got a loser werewolf boyfriend and he loves him so so much. leave him alone.

How do you feel about Galactadad? Galacta Knight being a dad to Meta Knight?
For me personally, in my brain I already mentally distinguish between the various canons of Kirby and my own and anyone else's variations.
Since there's no stated canon relationship between Meta and Gala of any solid degree at this time, it's kinda free game and I've never been off-put by different interpretations. If anything, I embrace it.
I think it's cute, I just enjoy a more romantic angle between the two of these dorky knights, especially with how I characterize them.
I also have friends who do either Galactadad or something similar (brothers, close friends, ect) and we're all good with joke interactions between our characters.
Fun side note actually! I do actually have an off-shoot AU where I explore Galacta NOT getting sealed away. More below the cut.
SO obviously romance with Meta and Gala would not operate in this world due to a massive difference in life experience/physical age and Galacta basically knowing Meta as an egg/knowing his parents (and kinda saving their lives and taking a more reluctant teacher role for Meta when he gets a bit older.)
I call this alt "Happy AU" because basically Galacta's wish goes without a hitch and he kinda becomes the universe's ultimate guardian. He bears the weight of it well and basically prevents Nightmare's uprise and anything else with relative ease. Everyone's just enjoying life while Galacta occasionally has to go kill a bitch. Even when Meta grows up, he basically just vibes with Jecra and Garlude in what they always wanted, even with Kirby.
Though Meta DOES kind of want to be Galacta's replacement if something were to ever happen... Like say a certain butterfly swinging by buuuut these guys have NO CLUE about that.
I feel like ASM:Я!Galacta would find the Happy!Variant interesting since he's basically living the dream with all it's rewards and consequences. Watching his friends grow old while he stays young and continues fighting, embracing the satisfaction of giving everyone comfort and safety... While lonely in its own way, he succeeded and is satisfied, albeit a bit melancholy and slightly detached/aloof from things from time to time.
One of his only close friends would be Artemis in this world since she is basically immortal as well, and like a sister to him.
Won't stop him from enjoying life in a different way though. He doesn't mind showing a very stubborn baby Meta how to fight, even if he doesn't have to.
And for anyone who does have a more strict Galactadad thing, uh I present my more terrible jokes for our respective worlds/stories/headcanons. Take it away, Vlad:
This is what my friends put up with.
Please remember this is just a joke ahhh

The I feel like she sees me line being said to Eddie who is the person that truly sees Buck for all that he is. Are we supposed to take this line at face value which would indicate piss poor writing because they needed to rush to a horrible ending or do we take it as Buck being an unreliable narrator? What was the audience supposed to interpret from Buck saying that, were we truly supposed to believe him or we supposed to be pissed at Buck for saying this to the one person that truly sees Buck?
Good morning to me, I guess.
I'm assuming you haven't really seen people's reactions in the fandom on tumblr because I feel like I saw this said in quite a few posts going around, but you are absolutely not supposed to take this line at face value. I'm surprised that people think you should. 9-1-1 has from the beginning had a habit of turning friendships into romantic relationships (Bathena and Madney) and taking their time with these things rather than having an instalove situation. Even Karen and Hen, who meet when they're set up on a date together, don't instantly fall in love. I do not think they would set Eddie or Buck up for an endgame relationship with a woman by having them date that woman immediately, even if they didn't plan to make Buddie canon.
Buck is clearly struggling post-death. He's lost and once again looking for the answer from a romantic partner. He did a lot of growth in regards to his family relationships this season but not his romantic ones. Remember, his couch ended up destroyed and he asked his latest girlfriend to pick the new one out for him. Again. He's still not picking his own damn couch. After being unable to sleep on the one his mom gave him but passed out instantly on Eddie's where he ran to feel safe.
If people think this is all, somehow, an accident or the writers are doing this without knowing what they're doing, then I can't help you. Do you also think the symbolism I put into my fanfics are a total accident? Do you guys think I picked the name of the poem "Fuchsia Emerald Alizarin Rose" just because the colors are fun and they accidentally spell out F.E.A.R. or do you think maybe I did that absolutely 100% on purpose and was waiting for someone to realize?
Buck saying that to Eddie is 100% supposed to make the audience raise their eyebrows. Especially when we see Eddie's reaction. He's confused and he's hurt and he's annoyed. Eddie then spends his next few lines showing Buck (and us) that he sees Buck. Buck misses it, it goes right over his head, but the audience is shown that Buck is wrong and Eddie sees him.
I think there was a lot of internal stuff going on behind the scenes way high up the ladder that meant Buddie didn't happen this season. No, I don't mean that in a tinhatting way, I just mean that they knew Fox wouldn't renew them, they didn't know if they'd get picked up somewhere else, Fox hasn't promoted or cared about this show the way it has its other shows in a while, and I think it's pretty clear there was shuffling and changes going on with 6B. So I think things had to be put off. Similar to the pandemic, where I genuinely wonder what kind of season four we would've gotten if we'd had the full 18 episodes and hadn't had to work around Covid. I think that when we know there was a big shift going on behind the scenes, we need to have some grace and patience in how that will effect the story that's told on screen.
But I think that this default to "everything good we see on our screens is an accident and the writers are making shitty choices" is a horrible bad faith argument, and it's exhausting. Aren't you exhausted? I'm exhausted. Fandom shouldn't treat the writing and production team like their enemies any more than the writing and production team should treat the fans like their enemies in some kind of war they have to win (looking at you, GoT showrunners).
We are supposed to be annoyed that Buck is missing the point. We are supposed to see Buck's yearning to be a husband and a father, and how he's missing what's right in front of him. We are supposed to put two and two together and see that Eddie was hurt by Buck's words, that Eddie sees Buck, that Eddie is Buck's safe place, and that Eddie in that moment decided he might not have a chance with Buck and needs to move on, because previously we saw Eddie admit he wants romance again but he doesn't want to go out on dates, we saw his aunt say she met her husband through work, we saw him say 'we have time' and then we saw him immediately after Buck tells him about this new girl who "sees him" flee to visit his mother and then immediately actually try dating. On a meta level this is also because Eddie needs confidence in himself as a romantic partner and needs some more experience under his belt before he's ready to take the plunge with Buck, but in Eddie's mind, I think it's pretty clear he feels Buck will never want him back and he's trying to find the love he wants somewhere else, even if his heart is still Buck's.
So that's what I think. I think it's not explicitly spelled out for a few reasons, but frankly if one of them was a woman we wouldn't need it explicitly spelled out and personally I kinda like that it's not. Something that annoys me with M/F pairings is the constant "we all know you two like each other" talks from third parties that half the time aren't about the characters but are about the audience, to either tell the audience SEE THEY LIKE EACH OTHER THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT or to give the audience some fanservice while the characters aren't ready to get together. I don't need to be pandered to that way, thank you, so I'm a fan of the slightly more subtle approach that I, personally, see going on with Buddie.
If you or anyone else disagrees with me and feels it was just "piss poor writing" then that's entirely your right. I'd just appreciate it if people who feel that way would stop watching the show, and stop putting their complaints into the inboxes of people who clearly do enjoy the show.
TL;DR - You answered your own question, Buck is an unreliable narrator (and always has been) and we are supposed to be frustrated he said this to Eddie who has proven time and again (and does so in that very scene) that he sees Buck.

look like.
it's chill to prefer a fanon idea to canon, sometimes those are just... "better" is subjective, but sometimes they're more fun for you personally
and it's chill to like a canon that's objectively not really put together great (there's so many reasons that can happen!), if anybody wants to be a dick about it that's their problem and you should just block 'em
but like.
when you spend all your time raging about "people who just hate canon" and then all the things you claim to love about it are entirely fanon or your personal headcanons or actually just an interpretation you made by squinting at the source material and not actually clearly canonically supported at all, or even sunk by canon itself then maybe it's time to just go "yeah I don't like the canon itself, the version in my head is way more fun" and then either move on or just stick to the AU version you created and have fun with that.
there's nothing wrong with doing that!!!
and sometimes it's not even that canon is "bad"! sometimes yeah canon just does suck objectively (or if not suck totally then it does have really glaring flaws in some areas), but a lot of times it's just "canon did what it was trying to but the execution went in the exact opposite direction i would have wanted so i hate it" and you can embrace that and just have fun with your version of it.
just. stop trying to pretend that your AU is actually canon itself and then getting mad at people talking about canon proper as if they're maligning it and the characters when you're the one who's convinced yourself that a bunch of made-up ideas that have no substance behind them are canon when they're not.
