Might catch flak for this which is fine but I’ve been seeing posts on here that are like encouraging people to analyze the life series more deeply than the ‘ooh curses’ level, and while I do appreciate this point of view and kind of agree, I think we should also understand that this is a silly block game series and it’s okay to not want to look that deeply into it. It’s okay for people to have shallow takes on things or dumb headcanons (yes, even that one, the one you personally hate) because everyone approaches the series in a different way and doesn’t really want to obsess over every detail until they can fully characterize every player or something. I appreciate the people who are Character Understanders but I don’t think it’s fair to expect everyone engaging with the fandom to be the same. There’s no moral obligation to have the deepest most correct understanding of the underlying themes and meaning or whatever. Let people have fun and cultivate your own garden gamers <3

i keep seeing people on X say GarfieldBenz arent going to have much screentime since they havent been on set? :\ im kinda worried ngl. do you think it’s true?
I think it’s too early to be analyzing their screentime?
Don’t get me wrong, I wish every day to see them on set, but they’re shooting the restaurant scenes right now, and I don’t anticipate either of them will have very many scenes at the restaurant, since it’s not their workplace. These things are not shot in sequential order.
While I haven’t read the novel and don’t plan on reading it until after the show finishes (and don’t want to know the details of the novel yet), I would assume most of MethasJJ scenes will be at the clinic and Methas’ office, with only a handful of scenes outside of those places. And I don’t think it would make sense to have them be together at the restaurant a lot, if they’re trying to keep Methas hiring Plawan under wraps from Oab?
From a scheduling perspective—it’s a lot easier to film as many scenes as you can in one location while you have access to that venue, so you don’t have to break down and build up the set over and over again, you don’t have to deal with transport of costumes/props/etc. They may not get all the restaurant scenes done in one go, but expect that those scenes will be done in large blocks.
When they reserve a clinic for filming, expect that they will film MethasJJ scenes in a block, unless it’s filmed at an active clinic that they can’t reserve for multiple days in a row.
Also a caveat—I would anticipate that their scenes will be logistically easier to film since there would be fewer actors, so less hair/makeup, less staff means less catering, and they’re not doing something like cooking live on camera without doubles, which can be tricky and may require a lot of retakes.
So we may see filming for BenzGarfield scenes go by more quickly, unless they end up having to work around scheduling of the venue they use. Just in case ppl see them spending less days filming and jump to conclusions.
As far as how much screentime I anticipate for them—we only have one Change2561 BL to base this off of, so there’s not an established pattern yet, but if it’s at all similar to Pit Babe, then we could expect that they’ll be like AlanJeff, who didn’t even meet until ep 3 and only had one or two scenes in each ep, but whose story was greatly expanded from the original novel.
They ARE a side couple, so I’m not anticipating them having equal screentime as SailubPon scenes, but less screentime doesn’t mean less impact—VegasPete only really started getting scenes in the last few eps of KP for instance.
I’m a lifelong side couple shipper, so I’m used to this life, but I also don’t see the point in complaining about their screentime when it’s not like we have anything close to a finished product. Again, these things are not shot in scene order or episode order, so we literally have no way of knowing what their screentime is.

wouldn't dick have gotten all the training batman had done from bruce himself? i do agree with dick being a little lower down but more due to being used to working with a team of metas in his titans era at least but technically he would have had more batman style training than jason and also had prior training (circus etc)
(original post)
i think its fair to say that dick has all/most of the training batman has, but also i don't think that that means that he has any more training than any of the other bats just because i feel like bruce would train all of them equally yk? like all of them had robin training so i dont think bruce would've trained dick with any more skills than he trained jason with, then jason expanded on that & learned more with his league training. the reason i think dick is low is because he doesnt have any more training than the rest of the bats, but hes not the lowest because he has a ton of experience and time to perfect those skills
also i would say that there are plenty of moves that bruce learned in his training that he didnt pass onto his kids because theyre lethal, so dick wouldnt know them because bruce didnt teach him, but jason might because he was trained by the same people that trained bruce. for example in batman & robin #4 bruce performs a nerve strike and damian asks him to teach it to him but bruce says no because the move is lethal if its not done right
Tumblr media
so using this, i think that dick wouldnt know this move because bruce wouldnt teach a move that is so easily deadly and he couldnt afford to make a mistake in his own teaching or someone else's execution of the move because it would kill someone. however if jason was taught by the same people that taught bruce, he WOULD know this move because the one who taught bruce the move would teach jason how to do it. and i think its canon that bruce learned a lot of other lethal moves during his training, but he wouldnt have taught those to dick because obv he doesnt want dick to kill people. but when jason got the same training as bruce, he learned all the lethal moves that bruce wouldnt have taught him himself

Where do you stand on the argument people make on how if Buck had an issue with Tommy calling him Evan he would say something because he is a fully grown man. To me I would say look at Eddie wi th Ana calling him Edmundo he never told her he had an issue with it but this was not for the characters but for the audience to see that it’s wrong to call them these names. It’s a way to tell the audience these relationships are not gonna to last. If the characters would bring up hey stop calling me that it would be obvious this is more in your face. It’s not about how Tommy is resurrecting Evan no it’s literally Ana with Edmundo 2.0
narratively we know the name evan is a point of contention with buck. he corrects his parents in buck begins, saying people who know him call him buck. the other people who call him evan are:
maddie — which makes sense since shes his sister, but she also often calls him buck
eddie — literally in one scene, the will scene, which was to signal how serious the conversation was and to speak to the wounded child in buck that thought himself to be worthless
ali — another love interest who was written off the show shortly thereafter. and the time she called him evan was during an argument about his job when she DIDNT UNDERSTAND HIM
chimney also does like once or twice just to annoy him but thats whatever.
narratively tommy calling buck “evan” is supposed to set him apart from the 118 and the other characters. i guess it remains to be seen why but i do think its because tommy isnt supposed to understand buck. lfj said hes not even allowed to actually call him buck when ana switched over to eddie later on. if tommy calling him evan was actually supposed to be a good thing it would’ve been a conversation onscreen. the 118 and everyone else would call him evan instead. we didn’t get any of that. so i have to assume its just to tell the audience tommy doesn’t understand him.
also, about the fully grown thing. i go pretty exclusively by a nickname — alli. nothings wrong with my full name, i just do. i have since i was little. everyone who knows me calls me alli. when i meet new people though and they call me allison i don’t really correct them unless they ask me themselves if i go by alli. to me at least its not really the hill to die on? usually people correct themselves as we interact anyway and hear what other people call me. 🤷‍♀️ thats my perspective at least. he never corrected maddie or ali when they did it either.
also considering we’ve heard the way buck introduces himself before, verbatim “im evan buckley, but everyone calls me buck” im assuming he didnt introduce himself any differently to tommy. sometimes people just ignore what you want to be called because well, theyre dicks. and thats who tommy is to me already so its not a far reach lmfao

the difference between clarke and octavia (in the early seasons) is that octavia adopted the grounders’ way to live (how to fight with the fists, how to communicate using trigedasleng, use swords and daggers instead of guns, etc), whereas clarke adopted the mindset of their leaders. that’s why octavia got mad at clarke for trusting lexa, for staying in polis, for letting the bomb drop on tondc, for sacrificing the few to save the many, breaking deals to save their people, etc. later on, we see octavia adopting the grounders’ leading mindset when she becomes blodreina. suddenly, she understood clarke’s “i bear it so they don’t have to” and that there are “acceptable losses” in every battle.
none of the other delinquents really understood the way the grounders live or lead, despite the multiple wars that they fought against and besides them. they always wanted to do better, to not be unfair, to keep their word, to not be selfish. clarke knew that that mindset wasn’t going to work if they were gonna survive on the ground. so she made alliances, she turned everything around in her people’s favor, she broke deals and made sacrifices, because she saw the way grounder survived and won wars. as skaikru’s leader she made peace talks and war preparations with lexa, indra, roan, people who helped her understand that she needed to be ruthless and selfish to survive on the ground. octavia went through the same thing when she was in charge of the bunker and had grounder leaders advise her and help her understand that to be a leader, there are some things that you have to do to save your people, whether you want to or not, no matter how cruel it is.
the constant criticism of clarke and octavia was completely unfair since they were both forced to lead hundreds of people at 17 with no prior knowledge of politics in a world they had just discovered. especially since the ones that were constantly criticizing them turned to them for help (especially clarke) in times of crisis. how can you have the audacity to make someone be in charge of hundreds of lives and then get mad when they do something immoral to save them?

People ask me sometimes how I'm so confident that we can beat climate change.
There are a lot of reasons, but here's a major one: it would take a really, really long time for Earth to genuinely become uninhabitable for humans.
Humans have, throughout history, carved out a living for themselves in some of the most harsh, uninhabitable corners of the world. The Arctic Circle. The Sahara. The peaks of the Himalayas. The densest, most tropical regions of the Amazon Rainforest. The Australian Outback. etc. etc.
Frankly, if there had been a land bridge to Antarctica, I'm pretty sure we would have been living there for thousands of years, too. And in fact, there are humans living in Antarctica now, albeit not permanently.
And now, we're not even facing down apocalypse, anymore. Here's a 2022 quote from the author of The Uninhabitable Earth, David Wallace-Wells, a leader on climate change and the furthest thing from a climate optimist:
"The most terrifying predictions [have been] made improbable by decarbonization and the most hopeful ones practically foreclosed by tragic delay. The window of possible climate futures is narrowing, and as a result, we are getting a clearer sense of what’s to come: a new world, full of disruption but also billions of people, well past climate normal and yet mercifully short of true climate apocalypse. Over the last several months, I’ve had dozens of conversations — with climate scientists and economists and policymakers, advocates and activists and novelists and philosophers — about that new world and the ways we might conceptualize it. Perhaps the most capacious and galvanizing account is one I heard from Kate Marvel of NASA, a lead chapter author on the fifth National Climate Assessment: “The world will be what we make it.”" -David Wallace-Wells for the New York Times, October 26, 2022
If we can adapt to some of the harshest climates on the planet - if we could adapt to them thousands of years ago, without any hint of modern technology - then I have every faith that we can adjust to the world that is coming.
What matters now is how fast we can change, because there is a wide, wide gap between "climate apocalypse" and "no harm done." We've already passed no harm done; the climate disasters are here, and they've been here. People have died from climate disasters already, especially in the Global South, and that will keep happening.
But as long as we stay alive - as long as we keep each other alive - we will have centuries to fix the effects of climate change, as much as we possibly can.
And looking at how far we've come in the past two decades alone - in the past five years alone - I genuinely think it is inevitable that we will overcome climate change.
So, we're going to survive climate change, as a species.
What matters now is making sure that every possible individual human survives climate change as well.
What matters now is cutting emissions and reinventing the world as quickly as we possibly can.
What matters now is saving every life and livelihood and way of life that we possibly can.

There's an aspect of Original!Elias Bouchard that makes me so sad to think about in a weird kind of "meta" way.
And that's the fact that he has to be labelled as the "OG" not as Elias.
Technically speaking Elias has been dead for years. It's Jonah that's taken over - literally having his eyes removed and replacing them with his own and living as him (he even seemingly keeps his "old fashioned haircut" on Elias' hair).
And yet we as the audience don't often call that form of Jonah "JONAH". Instead it's Elias, cause he's been Elias for 4 series at this point.
"Elias started the apocalypse", "Elias beat that old man to death with a metal pipe" when it was never really Elias in the first place.
He's been so robbed of his own identity that not even death can spare him; all of Jonah's actions in his body are recognised as him.
(Btw this isn't me saying you can't call Jonah!Elias straight up Elias, I do that regularly ofc. I'm just being emo rn lol)

for a while i lived in an old house; the kind u.s americans don't often get to live in - living in a really old house here is super expensive. i found out right before i moved out that the house was actually so old that it features in a poem by emily dickinson.
i liked that there were footprints in front of the sink, worn into the hardwood. there were handprints on some of the handrails. we'd find secret marks from other tenants, little hints someone else had lived and died there. and yeah, there was a lot wrong with the house. there are a lot of DIY skills you learn when you are a grad student that cannot afford to pay someone else to do-it-for-ya. i shared the house with 8 others. the house always had this noise to it. sometimes that noise was really fucking awful.
in the mornings though, the sun would slant in thick amber skiens through the windows, and i'd be the first one up. i'd shuffle around, get showered in this tub that was trying to exit through the floor, get my clothes on. i would usually creep around in the kitchen until it was time to start waking everyone else up - some of them required multiple rounds of polite hey man we gotta go knocks. and it felt... outside of time. a loud kind of quiet.
the ghosts of the house always felt like they were humming in a melody just out of reach. i know people say that the witching hour happens in the dark, but i always felt like it occurred somewhere around 6:45 in the morning. like - for literal centuries, somebody stood here and did the dishes. for literal centuries, somebody else has been looking out the window to this tree in our garden. for literal centuries, people have been stubbing their toes and cracking their backs and complaining about the weather. something about that was so... strangely lovely.
i have to be honest. i'm not a history aficionado. i know, i know; it's tragic of me. i usually respond to "this thing is super old" by being like, wow! cool! and moving on. but this house was the first time i felt like the past was standing there. like it was breathing. like someone else was drying their hands with me. playing chess on the sofa. adding honey to their tea.
i grew up in an old town. like, literally, a few miles off of walden pond (as in of the walden). (also, relatedly, don't swim in walden, it's so unbelievably dirty). but my family didn't have "old house" kind of money. we had a barely-standing house from the 70's. history existed kind of... parallel to me. you had to go somewhere to be in history. your school would pack you up on a bus and take you to some "ye olden times" place and you'd see how they used to make glass or whatever, and then you'd go home to your LEDs. most museums were small and closed before 5. you knew history was, like, somewhere, but the only thing that was open was the mcdonalds and the mall.
i remember one of my seventh grade history teachers telling us - some day you'll see how long we've been human for and that thing has been puzzling me. i know the scientific number, technically.
the house had these little scars of use. my floors didn't actually touch the walls; i had to fill them with a stopgap to stop the wind. other people had shoved rags and pieces of newspaper. i know i've lost rings and earring backs down some of the floorboards. i think the raccoons that lived in our basement probably have collected a small fortune over the years. i complain out loud to myself about how awful the stairs are (uneven, steep, evil, turning, hard to get down while holding anything) and know - someone else has said this exact same thing.
when i was packing up to leave and doing a final deep cleaning, i found a note carved in the furthest corner in the narrow cave of my closet. a child's scrawled name, a faded paint handprint, the scrangly numbers: 1857.
we've been human for a long time. way back before we can remember.

idk if this is accurate but i’ve felt like in previous seasons riz & gorgug have been one of the inter-bad kids dynamics we’ve seen the least of & this season has been so great in that aspect. gorgug having helped make some of riz’s magic gear. riz helping gorgug with his studies. the shared birthday party. gorgug’s gift to riz being something he himself made to protect riz. riz’s gift to gorgug being something he illegally grabbed to protect gorgug. gorgug who utilizes rage to put his body on the line for his friends & riz who will take deep levels of mental stress for his friends. even though it was within the context of a joke, riz calling gorgug an “absolute sweetie.” like yea they might not be in a band together or both part of a presidential campaign team or owlbears teammates, but they’d go to war for each other, because they’re best friends.
#riz gukgak#gorgug thistlespring#fantasy high#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year#fhjy#fhjy spoilers#these kids are all so self-sacrificing but i do think riz gorgug are the most clear (& juxtaposed) self-sacrificers#riz will mentally tear himself to pieces and get lost in cases and take on ungodly levels of stress for those he loves#gorgug will use himself as a human shield. he will take hit after hit if it means his friends are okay.#and they’d both do the other thing too. riz would let himself get hit for gorgug. gorgug would pull all nighters & take stress for riz.#even if mechanically they can’t or it wouldn’t make sense. they would if they could.#also#the starstruck barry mechanic of being a guard is so gorgug. it’s soooo gorgug like that’s literally him#anyways love this tall green guy & this short green guy so much#especially because gorgug is tall & considered intimidating but protective in a deeply kind way#while riz is short & underestimated but protective in a deeply vicious way (affectionate)#i hope this makes sense but i think riz is primarily ‘i would kill for you’ & gorgug is primarily ‘i would die for you’ maybe#this does not mean gorgug would not kill for riz or riz would not die for gorgug. they both would.#but those are the primary ways their love manifests due to the nature of their strengths/personalities. To Me#idk this is all just me saying stuff when i should be sleeping 😭#sorry if i missed a riz gorgug moment in the main post btw i’m tired

I mean this gently but I have to say somethin' here- I've been getting so much "make your skirts cheaper" "I love this but why are they soooo expensive" etc lately and like look, I know a lot of this is because times are hard.. (otherwise why would I be hearing this more & more this year when prices haven't changed compared to last year) but I just wanna say that one of the only ways I could lower prices (if I was ruthless and didn't care) would be to cut sizing options. Like idk how to word what I'm trying to say, but just know when you shout stuff like this at other brands & they decide they need to find a way to cut costs to lower prices, being size inclusive is gonna be one of the first things to go. I have no plans to do this myself, but for example, a D Size Skater costs me almost twice as much (talking about only the direct from the manu cost, there are other factors too such as that they weigh more so that adds more shipping costs as well) as an A Size Skater. Say I cut D Size altogether.. and many companies would have by now while also not even lowering the price.. I could increase my profit margins significantly right away. Now lets say I cut both C and D and become a shop that only offers the standard range of SM-XL. Wow! Suddenly profits are up so much!! Or maybe going not full corporate greed, I could handle lowering skater prices by like $10 (random number not based on real math idk what things would actually work out to because I'm not gonna do it). But now no one over a size XL can order from me. I fear none of what I'm trying to get across is getting across but I just mean to say, in order to offer what I offer, the prices need to be what they are. They aren't set arbitrarily high & lowering them would mean needing to make choices that I will not make (becoming less size inclusive or making my business unsustainable in the sense that it would not survive long).
