Hey can I ask you something off topic?

I'm 19 and still in highschool but I feel like I missed out on life, y'know? Like, I see all my peers out there participating in community service, having jobs, going to clubs. There's a junior I know that has a 4.0 GPA while a senior like me is stuck with a 3.5. I didn't have a car or did any of my family members since I started HS so i wasn't and still isn't able to go to school clubs, get my driver license because I have nothing to practice on, etc.. I just feel like, why am I still trying? Everything in life depends on these key factors. Or do they? I am so lost. I'm almost graduating and it feels like I'm nothing? I don't even know what I'm doing and I'm very scared.

I feel comfortable talking to you because you seem very real? Lol and an adult 😭

I guess what I'm trying to ask is how are you?

Like, how did you do it?

One thing I can say for certain, right off the bat, life absolutely DOES NOT depend on these factors. It may seem like it, partially because of society and partially bc everyone around you is talking about the future and driving cars and doing w/e, but there is no, one (much less right) way to experience high school, nor the life you live both in between and afterwards.

That being said, I'm not gonna lie and say there was nothing you missed out on, yes, high school could've been more exciting, but that same thing can be said about literally anything and everything, and this portion of your life is barely the tip of the iceberg. The real good news here is high school isn't supposed to be the best part of your life!!

(Imagine if it was, you'd feel equally as weird leaving it behind, just for different reasons. It's good to feel like you're ready to move beyond wherever it is you're stuck... that means you're maturing and ready for new things.)

Based on the things you've said, I'm also presuming that one of the reasons you might feel so lost is because, like you mention, you're not immersed in any big community like the ones you notice your classmates in, such as band, sports, clubs, etc. That's something I went through too, but is easy to remedy with time. It's very possible that this sense of distress is due to boredom as well as a lack of satisfaction (among the rest of it all, i don't want to downplay your feelings), which is why it might seem so difficult to imagine something else for yourself, even if that doesn't mean it's not out there for you to find.

There are many communities out there for you to explore, as well as hobbies to start, and it's not, and never is, too late to start doing what you see your friends doing. Even if it's not possible for you currently, there will always be clubs to join, jobs to get, community service to do, and even make more friends!!

(Some simple hobbies I enjoy are coloring books, word searches, crocheting, lanyards, diamond dots, journaling/scrapbooking... things I can do while watching TV, and etc! I can always go more into depth about this, too kasdjfkad)

It's not easy getting your butt out there to start these things, I admit, but it does end up snowballing once the process starts. Even if it's just something little, like asking to join your friends even if you just sit on the sidelines, picking up trash around your neighborhood, or applying to work somewhere close by with limited hours... you never know what's going to stick until you try it! And you're never obligated to stay if you hate it, either.

As for your GPA, don't give a shit about that. I know it's hard NOT to compare yourself to others (i struggle with that, too... my roommate is nearly two years younger than me and is graduating college in three years while i've been in school for FIVE), but a 3.5 is an AMAZING gpa to have! It's also not reflective of anything. I know it might seem like it is, but the second you gradutate, your high school grade concerns are going to be the LAST thing on your mind. Plus, if going to college soon is one of your plans, I can 100% assure you that more schools are going to accept you than you think (i barely graduated high school and got into almost every four year i applied to)!

It's hard to give you any other advice without truly knowing the situation you're in (what your long term goals are and how you plan on getting there, + what's legitimately and physically stopping you), and I don't want to make this conversation all about the things I did (really what's helped things improve for me is just taking time to be okay with going with the flow and getting on medication, lol) but you shouldn't feel like you're trying for no reason. It might be confusing, you might feel lost or even abnormal under the circumstances you see around you, but graduating high school is a weird transition period in life ANYWAY and feeling confused about where to go is normal (I can bet that junior with 4.0 is stressing so hard about their future, too. You're both working hard, just maybe for different things! You're honestly very brave to admit this, a lot of people keep these emotions to themselves and sometimes until it's too late to fix them).

You have so many options ahead of you. Even if you don't know what they are yet, or it takes a lot of patience to find them, this isn't the end of your happiness nor should you internalize it feeling that way. Whether your future consists of taking time off for yourself OR staying in school, working, traveling, volunteering, or etc., in any order and in any way you want, you deserve to be kind to yourself as you make the journey of figuring out what it is that you enjoy doing. You don't have to have all the answers right now, many of them will come with time, and even if they don't, that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong nor need to compare yourself to others.

All in all, I hope this wasn't a waste of a read for you. Really I'm sending all my love and tons of luck your way...!! I know what it's like to feel like there's no conclusion to something that requires one, but just as I learned (and we all do, eventually) to be okay with proceeding to no end, you will too. And in a way that will bring you so much joy!🩵🩵🩵

i've been so focused on IYHM for the past couple months... now that the pub date is so close, i'm full of giddy anticipation and terrible dread. so thank you everyone for the love and well wishes! it's really getting me through it.

I still remember the first time Nico and I had sex.

It was rushed. In a bar bathroom where we both had gotten carried away grinding drunk on the dance floor with a handful of his teammates. Our hands and mouthes bumped against each other awkwardly. Neither of us removed our underwear, just slid the fabrics to a spot that we could fully connect. We both climaxed fast, the obvious sexual tension between us too much to hold back.

After was awkward; we were only supposed to be friends. We stumbled through the aftermath as we worked our pants back into place. He didn’t want anything serious. I kinda did, but hated the concept of dating. So, we decided we would be cool being once and a whiles with each other. 

There was never any talk of forever. Never a breakfast in the morning. We slept at each other’s places, but it was always quick kisses goodbye as we ran off to our separate lives where we were just friends. I fell in love with him quickly. Nico stayed aloof.

Which is why I don’t understand the look of devastation on his face right now.

“Neeks?” I question, glancing over my shoulder at my date. Nico is silent, staring beyond me to Colton who is sipping on the glass of red wine I poured for him. In Nico’s hand is a brown bag, containing take out from our favorite Thai place. 

“Ah…” He stammers. “Um, I thought I’d bring you dinner. Cause I thought you were working late like you said.” Troubled by guilt, I pinch my cheek between my teeth. I hadn’t wanted to tell him about Colton until I thought it was something real. I still don’t have an answer to that. “But you guys can have it instead.” He thrusts the bag out to me, avoiding my eyes. I can tell he is trying to hide how wounded he is.

“Neeks…” I reach out for his fingers. He pulls his hand away like my skin burns his.

“It’s… yeah. I’ll see you later.” 

“Nico.” I step out of the apartment, watching his pursuit to the elevator. Someone is getting off on my floor so he dashes in immediately. 

The ding of the elevator matches the light bulb illuminating above my brain. We may have never talked about forever, but we also never talked about seeing other people. 

Shit.

The next few weeks, I feel like a stranger to Nico for the first time in three years.

He heads out of town with the team a few times, ignoring every one of my attempts to reach out to him. He’s left me on read, clicked the ‘fuck you’ button when I called, and refused the delivery of my latest attempt: Swiss chocolate truffles.

“I don’t know what to do.” I say to Kristen Haula when we are munching on Avocado Toast and siping mimosas at brunch. “He won’t talk to me.” She shifts awkwardly in her seat.

“I think he was surprised to see you with someone. It’s been a year since you two started whatever… this… is. Plus you did lie to him about what you were doing.” Her eyes widened like she is walking a cautious line between what she knows and what she is willing to share. She isn’t wrong.

“I know. I wanted to know what things were going to be with Colton. But that’s over.” I shake my head, smoothing out the napkin in my lap. “I honestly never thought I was anything special to Nico. With his recent behavior, that seems more true than ever.” Kristen snorts.

“Seriously? How are you two so off base with your feelings?” I stare back at her blankly. “He ordered you a WAG jacket for playoffs this year.” My stomach drops to the floor. “Still think you aren’t anything to him?”

I shudder in recognition. Now this is serious. Casual girlfriends, friends with benefits, puck bunnies, etc- none of them get WAG jackets. Only the women the players see a long-term future with do. And Nico ordered me one. 

“Do you have the jackets yet?” I ask her after a big gulp of my mimosa.

“Yeah.”

“I need a favor.”

It’s late when I get to Nico’s apartment the next night. Almost midnight, but he had a game and I couldn’t risk the jackets being seen yet. It’s the most exciting time of year for the NHL wives and girlfriends. I don’t want to ruin their fun while I swing for the fences to woo the Devils captain.

Nico’s doorman knows me and let me into the building with zero hesitation. Clearly, Nico hasn’t told them I’m not welcome anymore. A little bloom of hope fills my chest. Maybe I still have a chance.

My knock on Nico’s door is loud, disturbing the quiet both inside and outside of his space. I bite my lip, hearing his soft footsteps coming to the door. I look down during the pause of him glancing through the peep hole. My ears listen intently, begging for the click of the lock.

It happens. A small smile tugs my lips up. My confidence rushes back in.

“Hi.” I greet him immediately. “Please don’t shut the door.” I hold my hand up. Nico’s eyes are wide and he is speechless, staring at the WAG jacket he ordered for me. It’s gorgeous, made of black leather with red accents. His last name and number are huge on my back. Sparky studs are perfectly placed on the points of the bold letters. It fits perfectly, like I am the only one who could have ever worn it this well.

“I broke our deal.” I blurt out fast.

“What?”

“We said this wasn’t anything serious. But I fell in love with you a really long time ago. I was so scared to tell you and because of that I hurt you. I’m so sorry, Neeks.”

“Yeah, you looked really in love with me with that guy in your apartment.” He scoffs. He’s hurt. His thick eyebrows are furrowed and he will barely look at me.

“That’s not fair.” I shake my head at him. “You never.. told me about how you felt. Now you’re upset with me for having someone else over?” 

“I don’t understand how you could do… that. I can’t think about anybody but you.” 

“Did you consider maybe he was a distraction so I could finally think about somebody else but you Mr. Perfect?” He straightens, jaw getting rigid. He grips the door tighter like he’s preparing to shut it. “But it’s nothing with him. Nothing like what you and I could be. It’s over.” 

Nico looks down at the floor, then slowly drags his gaze back up my body, lingering here and there until his brown eyes get to mine. I can’t read him. I wish he would give me something. But if I have to leap all the way, I will for him.

“If it’s too late, I understand.” I whisper, heart beating so hard in my chest I’m confident he can hear it. “I can go back to what we were. I’ll be anything to you.” I whisper. He steps forward, reaching for my arms. He runs his fingers tentatively over the jacket, then steps forward even more to see his identifiers stitched onto my back. I look up at him, watching every flicker on his face as he brings it closer to mine.

“I want this. With you.” He murmurs, next to my ear. He presses his nose into my cheek. I wrap my hand around the back of his neck, turning so our lips collide. He keeps talking between our kisses. “Want my name all over you. On your back, on your driver’s license, right in front of mine as Y/N and Nico Hischier.” 

“Why did you wait so long to tell me?”

“Same reason you did. I’m scared to lose you.” He pulls back so he can look into my eyes. “This is not an easy life.. being with an NHL captain.”

“Cause it’s been so easy being friends with you.” I chuckle back. “I’m not afraid of hard work, Neeks. You know that.” He grins, then wraps his arms around me to bring me into his apartment.

There is nothing left for us to discuss.

This time, it’s clearly defined exactly what we are.

another year gone, another post no one asked for djkghdf

I normally don't talk about personal stuff on here but like in the previous year I wanted do a little recap and give shoutouts to some lovely people 🧡

It hasn't been an easy year for me, I started a new job which has been stressful and annihilated my work-life balance which resulted in me being sick a lot & just being stressed for most of the year lol. I barely found time to maintain this blog which may not seem like it on the outside since I somehow managed to frequently post but it's been difficult. I know I don't have to be online 24/7 but the fear of slipping into irrelevancy due to lack of content remains. I didn't have much time to watch bls & asian shows in general which I still consider my safe space and escapism so I'm resentful that I didn't get to fully take in and enjoy the things I'm passionate about and make content about them like I did in the previous years. That being said thank god for all the weekend shows that I did manage to watch and fully focus on like Only Friends and now Cooking Crush and Cherry Magic. Those have been life savers lol and also thank god for all the talented creators who gave us tons of content; I will mention some of them below.

But aside from my personal schedule and despite not watching a lot of stuff, I still tried to keep an eye on what's going on in the BL world for my monthly breakdowns, which I still enjoy making and I will likely continue them in 2024. I also came to the conclusion that 2023 ended up being another rendition of quantity > quality in the BL-verse so not much has changed lol - not that I expected it to. We got a wild and extended mix of different genres and subgenres this year which was nice to see. We saw companies & actors experimenting a lot (with varying results), we got new ships, new fandoms and new enemies, as well as a variety of comebacks and retirements. My watchlist this year was limited to Thai BLs and my blog mostly consisted of gmmtv related content and like I said, if I had had more time I probably would have explored more different shows - but I eventually resorted to what's familiar. I guess I needed an anchor in midst of all my personal chaos lol.

But despite my short list, there were a few gems that I enjoyed. The big ones like Only Friends, Moonlight Chicken, Be My Favorite, etc., and the small, less popular ones like Be Mine Superstar, Mission Fan Possible and a few more. I enjoyed talking to friends & making content about them in the limited timeframes I had. My opinions mostly matched those of the general public but unfortunately there were a few disappointments that were bathing in a success that I could not wrap my head around - Dangerous Romance and A Boss and a Babe being at the top of that list, followed by La Pluie and also a few of the lakorns I watched. But anyway.

Anyone who knows me knows my blog has been 83% FirstKhao this year lmao, they're my favorite people in this industry and watching them act, interact & making content about them has been one of my highlights. I'm excited to see what 2024 brings for them and even if it's not a series, I'm looking forward to seeing what else they will be up to 🥺 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

I'm going into 2024 with mixed feelings but above all I hope I will get the chance to expand my watchlist a little. I will post a personal top10 of the shows I watched this year shortly; until then I want to talk a bit about some lovely people this year - I’m not good with words lmao but thank you for being you and making this hellsite a better place 🥹 lol.

Finding anything from ordinary life after the outbreak became increasingly difficult. Food and water was hard enough let alone more coveted items like soap, clothing, and yes toys and baby supplies. The community was growing. People were still having babies. And then there was you.

You lost your precious stuffies in the outbreak and had been using Joel's pillow as a stuffie. You'd carry it around the house and cuddle the pillow in the night. It broke his heart that he didn't have much to make you feel safe as a little and even worse he left you all alone when he went on supply raids.

However one fateful day in April, Joel's patrol team found a the small town that had yet to be raided including a baby store. Cribs, blankets, formula. It was a miracle. Obviously he wanted the new mothers to have first pick (and he knew you'd want that too) but he was able to grab a stuffed brown bunny in the storage room- pristine and still in it's packaging. He stuffed it into his jacket. He hoped everyone was too busy sorting through the supplies to notice him slip it into his saddle back.

"Hey what's that?" Some youngster named Luke asked.

"Mind yer damn buisness." Joel glared, securing the buckle on the saddle bag. Did it really matter if someone saw? People would knife each other over a few ration cards. He was willing to risk it though, for you. Thankfully Luke let it go.

When Joel got back into town, the group took the supplies straight to the makeshift nursery and daycare. No ration cards or politics. For the first time he felt hope. Like humanity may actually be able to survive here. That you might be able to have a piece of normal life.

You were working at the daycare and you ran over as soon as you saw him coming. He couldn't help but smile slightly. You were so damn beautiful. The little rush of relief was always there whenever he saw you were safe. The daycare was well protected but he was never 100% sure of anything anymore.

"What did you bring?" You placed a hand on his leg and peered over at the full wagon.

"You'll see, petal." Joel chuckled, stroking your head affectionately.

After you got everything handed out and sorted, it was time to go home. Joel threw his saddle bag over his shoulder and offered his hand to you.

"hey good work miller!" Someone shouted and he waved humbly. It felt good to do something right for once.

"Josie just had a baby and she's been having trouble breast feeding. That formula will be perfect. And little Riley will love that stuffed bear. It was so cute. Everyone was so happy..." You talk his ear off all the way home.

"I'm proud of you, petal." Joel said, squeezing your hand.

"Why?"

"Because you were very selfless back there. I'm sure it's hard to give all those plushes away."

"They're called stuffies, Joel" You giggle.

"Stuffies..." He drawled.

"They need it more than me." You shrug.

Once home, you immediately grab your pillow and curl up on the couch. Joel smiles at this, setting his bag down by the door. He has to wait until you're occupied with a book to get the stuffie out, dust it off, and tie a pink ribbon around it. The ribbon was expensive but he was so glad he got it to make the present even more perfect.

"Hey petal..." He walked in with his hands behind his back.

"Yeah?" You look up from your book.

"I got somethin' for ya while I was out today."

"Joel... you could get in trouble." You still smile as you chide him.

"Just close your eyes." He sat down across from you on the lumpy sofa. You do.

"It's not my birthday, you know..."

"Shhh... hold out yer hands..."

You cup your hands and the hair on the back of your neck prickles with anticipation. You feel something soft and light be deposited.

"You can open, baby girl."

You already know what it is. And you weren't feeling very little but as soon as you saw it's eyes and floppy ears and big pink bow you were crying.

"Daddy..." You hold the stuffie to your chest, hugging it hard. It was so soft against your cheek.

Joel scoots closer. "I know it ain't what you had but-"

"I- I wuv her." You smile through your tears, throwing yourself into his arms. "Thankie daddy. It's da most perfect gift ever!"

Joel cupped your face gently, feeling his heart clench when your trusting eyes look up at him. "I picked her out special for you. I want you to have a little friend while daddy is away, to make you think of me and remember everything is going to be okay."

"I still wike my pillow." You grab it and place it in your lap.

"You can have pillow. Now you and pillow have a new friend." Joel explains gently.

"I name her... April! P'cause today is April and das when you rescued her, daddy." You hold her up proudly, taking in all her soft fur and floppy arms.

"That's perfect, baby." Joel smiled.

"Say hi April." You lift her paw and look at daddy expectantly.

"Well it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance miz April." Joel shook the bunny's paw. "Now you best take care of my petal. She's the most precious thing in the world and it's a great honor to be lookin' after her while her daddy's away."

"Mhm." You nod up at daddy, so happy he's playing with you and April.

Hello! I was wondering if I’m able to request a little blurb? I’m thinking about going for my nail techs license and I read your cute Eddie blurb of him painting readers finger nails and I keep thinking about maybe before Eddie asks to paint yours, he sees you painting your own and practicing doing nails on yourself and asks you to start painting his own nails and that you can always practice on him so it almost becomes a cute little date night like each Friday night or something where reader comes over to his house or he goes to theirs and they paint each others nails 🥰🥰

Eddie noticed that you always had your nails done. They always varied, sometimes they would be long acrylics, other times they would have chipped polish on them. He always heard you talking to Robin and Nancy about needing to practice how to do nails better or needing to redo your own nails and he knows that you do their nails every other week so you can practice on someone else and they can have nice looking nails. If he's being honest....he's a little jealous. He has nails! Why can't you do his nails 🥺???

Eddie finally asked you to do his nails when Nancy had to cancel at the last minute. He saw how bummed you looked as you put away the nail polish, and he just bluttered out "you can practice on my nails!" He covered his mouth in shock that he actually said what he was thinking and you were shocked by how excited he sounded.

"You-you don't mind me practicing on you?" You asked timidly, hearing how unsure you sounded made Eddie's heart break. " Sweetheart, you can always practice on me. I don't mind having my nails done, especially if it means I can be close to you and help you practice." Your heart melts, and you instantly start getting out your materials again. You tell Eddie where to sit, and he gets comfy as you get prepared. He sits there for an hour as you practice new techniques on his nails, and he honestly would sit there all night if that's what you needed.

It's a new tradition that every Friday you go over to Eddie's house to do each other's nails, watch a movie, and gossip as you practice. It's also a tradition to go out to breakfast or lunch the following days with some friends, and he will show off his nails and brags about how much of a little artist his baby is.
