This is the self insert/OC fairy. 🌼🧚‍♀️When you get this in your ask box, please tell us 3 facts about your S/I or OC and pass it around. Let's learn about each other's S/Is/OCs! 🌈🌷
I'd love to learn more about your OCs! They all seem super interesting❤️
Hello mate! Thanks for the ask!!
Ok, so I do not know which oc to pick, so I shall give you all three lmao XD I hope you're ok with that!
~~~~~ \(0u0)/ ~~~~~
Jodie "Bell" Hall (BOCW OC)
After the events of the campaign, Jodie couldn't quite drop the English accent she'd gained from the hours of speaking with Park; however, depending on her state, her original Russian accent might slip through. For example, if she is very sleepy, the English accent slowly fades and she'll speak at you in a mild Russian accent. On the other hand, if someone angers her, it can slip through then, too. I based this off the fact that when I get angry, my northern accent breaks on through my usually not-so-northern accent; I thought that it would make some sense that her accent shifts or fluctuates as the English accent was never hers to begin with, it's just something she picked up from Park.
Her brother was four years younger than her, making her an older sister.
She carries a booklet of sudoku, crossword and other puzzles with her everywhere she goes. It occupies her mind and keeps the noise in her head down - she also finds that it reminds her of cryptography, which is something Canon Bell is said to be good at. It's a tattered book and sometimes she scribbles in the margins different encoding patterns and such. It's basically something to keep her mind from falling in on itself. I might be cheeky in admitting this, but that little snippet was actually inspired by another creator; a thought was sparked and then it turned into this idea that Jodie often keeps her skills sharp by occupying her brain with these kinds of things.
~~~~~ /(030)\ ~~~~~
Franca "Major" Lorenzetti (MW OC)
Her middle name is Viola.
2. She has a family that she no longer speaks with, due to differing opinions on her choice to join the army; her father was extremely traditional and essentially forbade her joining and wanted her to focus on finding someone, settling down and having a family. You know, old traditional views that were not made to suit her. Her family are as follows: Antonio, 60: Father. Alessandra, 55: Mother. Carlotta, 34: Sister. Vincenzo (otherwise known as Vinnie), 22: brother. Later on in her life, after she has joined the military and become well established, her brother turns up on her door having been 'banished' like she had, and they have a tearful reunion. She loves her brother a lot and would do anything for him. The rest of her family though? She doesn't really talk about them much and if you were to ask her about them, she'd probably just stare at you until you left her alone.
3. Franca joined the Royal Army Medical Corps, becoming a Combat Medic. She rose through the ranks to RSM/WO1 - Regimental Sergeant Major/Warrant Officer. This associated rank is where her nickname came from, 'Major'. I actually tried to make the rank as accurate as possible, as I think different regiments and military organisations call them different things.
~~~~~ \(0x0)\ ~~~~~
Nanette MacTavish (MW)
Her maiden name was 'Oakley'.
Her dad is from Cornwall and her mum from the Midlands, so she every so often she has a little bit of a Cornish accent. It's really cute but sounds like a farmer sometimes.
She works at the primary school on the army base that she lives at. She's a teaching assistant and takes care of the children like they were her own! Oh- and her own does go to the nursery at the primary school - she has wee little lass with her husband, Soap, and she adores the girl so much.
BONUS: I don't have many facts for Nanette in the MW world, because most of the work I've done with her came about when I was planning a fantasy medieval au for Franca and Ghost. sigh. I ended up making that au about her and Soap, her knight in shining armour-ish. Ok! That's all for the facts! I hope you enjoyed reading about them!! If you're curious about anything or want anything elaborating, just hmu! Goose out!
Evil - S2E10 - what???
‘Life is best when it’s surprising. And terrifying.’
...
... ...
... ... ...
After watching it again and thinking about it for a few days, I’ve decided that I have no idea what’s going on with this now. This episode was wall-to-wall-wtf and all I have is questions. And next week looks at least as completely mad.
Sheryl, why are you so trusting of Leland? Yes I know his ears are adorable, and the way he says his ‘a’s is almost irresistible, but for Heaven’s sake woman, what are you doing!!??? And extending that trust to Edward the man you don’t know at all. ‘Oh, you have a drink waiting for me. It’s poison you say? Well, lol, aren’t you a card’ *drinks drink* Nooooo!!
Who is Edward then? I thought from the trailers he might be Leland’s superior but, it doesn’t quite feel like it. I wonder if he’s just a regular person - the (freaky, anxiety inducing) ‘treatment’ seems to have the same effect on him and Sheryl. At least he doesn’t approve of murder (that’s great!).
Leland Townsend, what a little shit you are. Why is the fertility doctor trussed up in your storeroom? (I did love the way he clearly anticipated that Sheryl would wear red to the party though).
As for the rest, poor Ben only got one week off having his mind fucked with. Vanessa even told him she loved him (!), but don’t let him be happy for five minutes writers OK.
Kristen’s connection to the RSM Fertility story is finally being explored more, but there still seems to be a lot to cover in 3 episodes. Good job there’s a series 3 because I’m expecting a whole bunch of cliff-hangers at the end of this one.
Oh and Lexi has a tail (?) but that’s one of the least remarkable or surprising things going on right now.
Anyway, I don't know why I've been less active lately. This past week has just been a lot and I know it's going to be fine but I feel a bit stuck as my therapist goes on maternity leave after this next week. I'm still watching everything like normal.
Some highlights though:
Nino's back! I watched him on Sykkuno's Friday stream and it was fun. He is really cool and fits so well with CB, obviously. Now the copium is that Saab is coming back, but wouldn't that be something. (Also no one has linked the clips but apparently Tony admitted to Nino that he loves Ray. They've had an open affair for a while now but guess it's starting to get serious?). But Nino's cool.
CB(The regular 4), did Bobcat last night. None of them got away. Cops shot their boat, they swam for like half an hour. There was some drama with Conan shooting Ray, but turns out Tony shot Conan first and Tony and Ray were basically right next to each other so it made sense and after Tony, Ray, and Yuno were all down, Conan and the other cops gave them space to have a femily therapy session where Tony was trying to reason with Ray. But Yuno? He and the cops going after him had a nice time, and one who processed him was super nice. They just had a very hard cop response. 2 interceptors, several normal cruisers. Koil on his cop, Conan Clarkson, Brian Knight, all the old guys. They have 2 more cards so no big deal.
AJ was there too, but he got distracted by a whale, went to try to carry it and ended up drowning. Most AJ thing ever, lol.
Hm... Oh! Tony was asking Yuno about what music he liked and Sykkuno was being shy and chat must've told him to bring up shark girl. Sykkuno got so flustered and got out of the car and went OOC to ask if he was a mod in Tony's chat so he could ban those people. . He can be so chill when he and chat are sassing each other but Tony bringing her up unexpectedly? It was the best.
There was a lot of fun silly things. Yuno got fired from the Burger Shot(Again) because he helped Randy steal the new toys. Meanwhile, Uchi and Ramee were fighting over April(Their love triangle is so funny because the CG guys are so in denial that she only likes them for their money... You guys are so stupid) but before that, Uchi was trying to say something to Ramee so he called him away from where Yuno, Kitty were all chilling, and of course, Yuno followed just in time to hear, "I know you have a hard time walking away from Yuno but..." and he was like "Wait, what?" and got all flustered by the accusation. For some reason, Uchi ran to hide behind a box and then was like, "Sorry, that was an accident. Hey, Yuno, welcome back!" It was a funny moment of teasing and reminds me of all the times Blau is like "Ramee treats Yuno differently than he does me."
Friday night pier stuff was top notch. There was a lot of fun, chaos, a bunch of people. Tony, Yuno, Ramee, CG, Kitty, Burger Shot people. It's cool when you have that mix of people all getting along. Speaking of getting along, CG and Angels are not getting along. I'm not saying it's mostly Ramee's fault but it's mostly Ramee's fault that he didn't treat Lexi(Member of the Angels, she basically ran the day-to-day stuff of his gallery) better and then it just spiraled and then Flippy shot Lexi and she's in the ICU. So we shall see.
So yeah. Same old stuff. But it's these characters I'm sort for so I'm happy they're all doing well. Like no one is streaming tonight(Except Blau and Randy and I'm not vibing with them tonight) so I think I'm just going to chill on a FiveM RSM freeroam server for a bit. Hopefully I'll be more active this week.
Lusso Magazine ( probably 2014, Issue 32)
Callum Turner
From the Guinness council estate in Chelsea, to being a pro footballer, the face of Burberry, on to big starring roles, this intelligent and thoughtful young man is hoping to occupy the same cultural position as his heroes De Niro and Gary Oldman.
“I’m about to start a Frankenstein for Fox report, directed by Paul McGuigan. And I’ve just finished the new John Boorman film, Queen and Country which is the sequel to Hope and Glory.
I play Bill, the character who in the original film was 11 and now in this film is 18 and just starting national service in 1952. Luckily he doesn’t get sent off to Korea, he just gets to stay in the camp and teach the other soldiers how to type. He’s clever and knows how to work the system. From my point of view, what was interesting is that it’s a coming-of-age story filled with these  incredibly interesting and eccentric characters, such as the RSM and all the other officers who played by great actors such as Richard E Grant and David Thewlis.
Some of the other recruits are confrontational and rebellious but my character – in essence the young John Boorman – is much more thoughtful. He’s a dreamer and a thinker.
What came out of doing this is realising that National Service was no bad thing. Yes, you have to do the marching, obey orders and do the square bashing, but everyone I interviewed who’d done it said they had a real laugh. They said it was the making of them.
What’s interesting is that in 1952 all the officers had already fought in the Second World War and sacrificed a lot for their country but these kids are about to experience the 60s. Rock n roll and freedom is coming.
Whatever you do in life, you’ll essentially be building upon a character for yourself. When I was 13 or 14 I was six-foot and had size 10 feet. I was bigger than my teachers and they had no power over me. I think I actually felt a little lost. I realise that an experience even as extreme as National Service can be a really defining moment. A constraining, confined situation helps you thrive. Of course some went to fight – in Korea or Malaysia or Suez – but there are upsides even I can see.
I’d love to make more stuff similar to the people who are my heroes like Gary Oldman and Tim Roth, but I think when they started their careers, the films the came out that had a lot more energy and maybe more social resentment. In the 80’s, the work of Alan Clarke and Ken Loach got more left-wing as society was going more right-wing. Today seems blander in may respects.
Many of my friends feel a bit lost and, to a certain extent, angry. We still all play football together and we walk around Fulham, which essentially is OUR neighbourhood. You see the new build luxury apartments along the river and million pound conversions of council houses and you ask yourself ‘where am I going to live? How can I have a family?’
I’m a very lucky man. I didn’t really have any training. I just really loved films. So I put myself on up casting website and got a couple short films and then did a play and then I got an agent. I’ve been really busy since then.
Callum wears: leather jacket – Hunter Gatherer, shirt – Vivienne Westwood at Van Mildert, tie – A. Sauvage, watch – Montblanc (Timewalker Twinfly Chronograph).
Hey there... so from my last entry, I’ve managed to do a lot and make big changes in my life. I feel like this past year, I’ve really grown up. Neel was kind of upset at me that I didn’t want to share my last journal entry with him — but how could I? He’s the person I’ve felt the closest to in my entire life, but ultimately, there’s some things that just meant to be kept to oneself. Though I must admit now, looking back, I need to give neel a lot of credit for the position I’m in today. He’s given me peace of mind. I feel like, for the first time in my life, I’ve discovered what love is supposed to feel like. Pure, understanding, honest, playful love. Sometimes when I’m with him, I feel like we’re just two little kids having fun with zero cares in the world. It feels absolutely innocent and it’s beautiful — it brings me to a time before prejudice or anger or hurt took its toll on us. And it’s pretty amazing how experiencing this flashback to childhood has helped me mature into an “adult” (I’m 20 now, FYI). Thank you for your help, neel. I needed it. I love you.
I got my first real job from networking my ass off, after making the determination that I had to seize control of my life’s outcomes. I start in may at EQ bank doing mortgage renewals, but I’m waiting to hear back from RSM about management consulting and soon interviewing twice at KPMG for both audit AND M&A advisory. There was a turning point sometime last December after our shroom trip at the downtown hotel; I’ve lovingly come to recount it as my “getting out of the bathtub” story. I got out the bathtub and pivoted my career ambitions. What they say is true — when you’re focused on a big goal, small problems bother you less. I’m busy now, but overall, I’m extremely happy. I’ve learned about myself that I love meeting people and socializing and constantly learning. I think these are things I want to in my career as well; I’m still figuring out what path I want to pursue.
Admittedly during the first half of the pandemic, I had no idea what I was doing and I was miserable (biking around and doing skip all day?) but I’m glad I was able to turn things around and find my grounding again. I’m proud of myself. This is how I felt when I got into schulich in grade 12. I’m so happy I came to schulich; it’s an amazing school with amazing people. Life is really what you make of it :)
Hi! I have been reading your different imagines and hc and I love them. I saw that requests are open and I couldn't resist, do you mind writing a Kon-El (RSM) in which they are dating and one day when he goes shopping with the reader a bunch of girls start flirting with him and he says hi but is actually waiting for the reader's reaction? And like, having her be super confident in the relationship to the point of being cocky? Not possessive, just very sure Kon likes her. Sorry for the specifics.
Thank you for requesting! 💕 Just posted it!
My new friend. A Mozambique Agate Skull. I have named him Axel Rose. No, not AXL Rose. Axel after my friend Axel Braun, the wonderful director, and Rose after the rosy colour like flesh on his head. I couldn’t turn this little guy down. He called to me and said TAKE ME HOME. He’s going to a very good place. He’ll be busy and well loved. I’ve been hoping to find a new skull. If you can send out the call for what you want coming into your life, and not just with gemstones, you’ll be amazed what your thoughts can do. #PositiveManifestation #MozambiqueAgate #CrystalSkull #empathsbelike https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu34rM-F_vg9jUslo-WX_mRLp7Kmnl2-rSM-RE0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xswb4ai24p8o
Evil Season 2: What Is Sheryl Pumping into Her Veins?
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Evil interview contains spoilers.
Evil knows how to get the blood pumping. From mundane angst to cosmic dread, Paramount+’s psychological and paranormal mystery series finds the vein which controls the pulse. The main team of investigators are warned they will face their most frightening subject in their latest probe. Though it is said with a chuckle, the fear is universal. If it’s not death, it’s taxes. But “I Is for IRS” doesn’t merely mine the collective subconscious for a familiar terror, it turns the horrors of abuse upside down for an insidious take on the empowerment of darker dabblings.
While Ben (Aasif Mandvi), David (Mike Colter), and Kristen (Katja Herbers) all have shadowy sidelines, Sheryl (Christine Lahti) appears to be the most enthusiastic. She is willing to give all for the cause. This took an alarming turn during “O Is for Ovaphobia,” when Sheryl was forcibly drained after being drugged in a bar. But the twists didn’t end there. The distinctly unhealthy looking light brown fluid which is being pumped into Sheryl to replace the blood loss is an elixir of life. The opening sequence makes it look like quite the addictive drug.
Christine Lahti is an award-winning veteran who is as comfortable on stage or screen, big or small. Evil is her second role with Michelle King and Robert King, along with The Good Fight and The Good Wife. Lahti spoke with Den of Geek about the importance of keeping up the battles, righteous and profane, and what’s in that chemical cocktail she makes look so addictive.
Den of Geek: How are the rackets on the West Side?
Christine Lahti: They’re very rackety. Yeah. I love that line. That was so funny in that scene.
How much do you know about what’s happening to Sheryl and how much does she know about what’s happening to Sheryl?
I think, on the night of the last episode, where she got the roofie put in her drink, and was given the blood transfusion and this brown elixir, I think she blacked out all that. I don’t think she has a memory of that, but I think she feels fantastic now. This brown elixir they gave her was, it was explained to me by the Kings, like going to a spa. It’s vitamin B and C and youth serums and whatever, but she feels very empowered and great.
Sheryl is on a mission now. I think after Leland broke up with her, that was the last straw. There will be no more abusive men in her life. There will be no more “demons,” bad men. I don’t serve actual demons. I think she’s on a journey of empowerment. It’s not going to always be pretty, but I think she’s fueled by rage and revenge, and I think she’s using Leland. He thinks he’s using her. I think she’s got a bigger mission in mind.
Is it my imagination or do the denominations you feed to Eddie keep getting bigger?
I actually didn’t notice that, but I would not be surprised if that was true, because Eddie is a real positive force for Sheryl. I had to look at it that way. She is exploring her dark side, but to me, her dark side also involves, as I said, empowerment, and Eddie gives her calm and gives her a sense of confidence and entitlement, and things that she hasn’t really felt in her life. So, she meditates to Eddie. She talks to Eddie. It’s all positive.
Was stealing the dress part of a ritual?
No. I don’t think there’s any kind of evil ritual going on. I think she is exploring, again, her dark side, and maybe satanic kind of stuff. But she was doing this for empowerment, and she has been dealing with a psychopath who is Leland. I don’t think she believes that there’s a devil there. She doesn’t believe in the devil or God for that matter. I think she believes that this man is an abusive, dangerous psychopath, and she’s going to somehow, by hook or by crook, gain power over him.
The stealing of the dress was, I think, an act of rebellion about having to be a good girl, or obeying the rules. I don’t think it’s any kind of demonic possession. It’s not something she does a lot. I think it was a bad thing she did.
You bathe Leland in blood in “I Is for IRS.” What is he getting out of that? He’s human, isn’t he?
He is human. Yeah. I begrudgingly help Leland out. Again, I’m using him, I think, for something much greater, and some eventual power over him. You’d have to ask Michael Emerson or the Kings what she thinks he’s getting from this blood. From Sheryl’s point of view, she says it makes him feel better. It’s like the transfusions that I’m getting, the brown stuff. It is something that makes him feel better, like going to a spa.
Did you study any magic for the role?
No, not magic, but I did read up on satanic worship. Do people really believe that blood transfusions, if you get a blood transfusion, say from a psychopath, are you going to take on psychopathic qualities? And there are schools of thought that believe that you could take on some personality traits of people whose blood you have in you. So, it’s possible that I have some influence from that evening. But again, to me, I think of it all as positive right now. We’ll see, I don’t know what’s going to happen to this character, but I think that she’s on a journey that is very much about empowerment, and she’s going for it.
Do you have any idea what occult tradition Sheryl is practicing?
Occult. No, I don’t. I think, again, there’s a satanic cult thing that she is exploring and intrigued by, but I don’t think she’s following anything strictly. But I do think she’s very intrigued by that world, and whether it’s to ultimately have control over it or have some kind of revenge over Leland, I don’t know. I think she’s smarter than people think she is.
Why were you singing the song from Flight of the Conchords? What were you doing all night?
Well, it’s interesting because that next morning when we’re singing that song, I’m dressed in a completely different, non-Sheryl, pastel tennis outfit, singing this song. So, it was kind of a wild night, but I think I feel great. I feel rejuvenated. I don’t have a memory, as I said, of the horror of the previous night. I don’t know where the hell we got that song, but it probably had something to do with Tim Matheson’s character.
You worked with Robert and Michelle King on The Good Wife and The Good Fight. What is different about a King set? What’s different about what they bring to TV?
Just the writing. The writers room that they have, the writers that they’ve hired, they’re all just so smart and funny. They know their genre, but it crops genres. It’s a mix of such wonderful comedy or drama. It’s topical. The key to their office is so topical and political, which I love. And on set there’s a real sense of freedom. And I think we all feel as actors that we can try stuff, and improvise. They’re very confident that way. They’re very open to actors’ ideas and improv and behavior twists in the characters, which is great.
New York has plenty of spooky exteriors. Do you think the city will become more of a character as this show moves on?
I hope so. I’m not part of that planning, but I can’t imagine that the Kings wouldn’t take advantage of, as you said, many, many spooky exteriors that are all over New York.
Why won’t RSM give up Kristen’s unfertilized eggs? You’re the mother, does Sheryl have the evil gene? Is that why they’re holding onto her last egg?
I don’t believe in evil. I don’t think Sheryl has anything evil. I think Sheryl is exploring her dark side and there might be some psychological problems with Sheryl. It’s not about evil or the devil. I think that there is some truth to the blood transfusions. I don’t know about truth, but there’s some belief that when you have, let’s say you get, you need, blood and you happen to get it from a psychopath, that maybe you’re going to have some psychopathic problems, right? Or if you get blood from a really kind Buddhist monk, that maybe that’s going to influence you somehow. So, there might be some truth in that. But I don’t think that there’s anything about the devil to me.
What do you think you’re doing for Leland and Tim Matheson’s character? At one point, you’re driving holes in their heads.
Okay. I do not think I am Leland’s handmaiden. I think I am helping Leland out, but this is, to me, a bigger picture. It’s a grand scheme of how I’m manipulating Leland. I’m helping him out to get power, to get empowerment. And I don’t think I killed the guy with the drill. I think he probably has a really bad headache, but I drained some brain fluid. Big deal. I don’t think I killed him. I kept saying, I said to the Kings, “I’m not killing this guy, right? I’m not a murderer.” “No, no, no, no, no, no. You’re just taking some. Borrowing some brain fluid for Leland.”
Aren’t you afraid it may escalate to that?
To killing? Yeah. I am afraid of that. I don’t know where they’re taking Sheryl. I don’t think it’s going to get to that, but we’ll see. And again, and I said also to the Kings, I want to be sure that no matter how dark it gets, which I love exploring, and I’ll do anything, but she can’t hurt her grandchildren or her daughter. And they reassured me that Sheryl loves her family, who would do anything for them. And, in fact, would go to the greatest lengths to protect them.
What path is Sheryl bringing Kristen’s daughters? You showed them Eddie. You’re giving them little pieces here and there. What do you want for these kids?
I want them to be empowered. I want them to stand up for themselves. Sheryl’s proud of her daughter for hitting that guy in the grocery store. It’s misguided advice, but I think from Sheryl’s point of view, it’s  “Stop taking shit from men, girls, and daughters. I took shit from men my whole life. I’ve put up with abuse and put up with being controlled and repressed.” Actually, physically and sexually abused is my backstory for Sheryl. So now she’s done. She’s had enough and she’s going to get revenge. She’s going to get power by hook or by crook. I don’t think it’s necessarily virtuous, but I think that there’s a real righteous rage that Sheryl has that’s fueling all of this.
You’re also very permissive with your daughter when she comes in. Where do you stand on the husband with that, if she’s stepping out?
I don’t think Sheryl likes this husband at all, and I think she’s thinking he’s just a dead weight on the family. And why isn’t Kristen just dumping the guy and carrying on with her life? He’s been such a burden on the whole family, and a non-father to these kids. I think that she’s giving her daughter advice that she feels is positive. Like, “Here’s how to hide it. I had to do it with your father. I didn’t have a good relationship with your father.”
I think Sheryl’s husband was abusive. And I think that I stepped out on him and this is how I covered my tracks, and here’s how you can cover your tracks. Of course, you’re going to step out on this guy, your husband. He’s never around. He’s a bad guy. From Sheryl’s point of view, I think it’s good advice.
What was the most fun sequence to film? And did you wish you could have been in the wine barrels a couple of weeks ago?
Oh, that wine barrel sequence was hilarious. It was like Lucille Ball getting drunk at a winery. It was so cheeky. Katja was so delicious in that episode. For me, it’s all been fun. Navigating the relationship with Leland is really fascinating. It’s so complex because she wants to pretend that she’s helping him, I think, and that she’s “under his influence” but she knows better. She has a bigger purpose, as I said. So that’s all very delicate and, I think, full of subtext and rage and revenge, but pretending otherwise, right? It’s complicated. I love that.
When you’re preparing to do horror, what horror do you watch?
I don’t watch any horror. I don’t like the genre, generally. But why I love this show is its infusion of humor and intelligence and topical subjects. It’s such a mixed genre piece. But the horror stuff, honestly, I just close my eyes when that stuff comes on because I get too scared. I can’t watch it at night. The monsters freak me out. And actually, I’ve done some horrific stuff, but I don’t have a lot of monsters in my scenes so far, the monsters that Kristen dreams about George, and now Aasif [Mandvi] dreams about. Those monsters have not entered my world yet.
Right. But it’s all psychological horror.
To me it is. Yes, imagined psychological horror, that we are dealing with evil that emerges out of psychotics’ brains, mentally deranged and psychosis, so psychologically based, explained psychosis. Not the devil.
Does Sheryl like what her daughter’s doing, looking for the truth? Or does she feel, because it’s for the Catholic Church, that it’s not ever going to find the truth?
I think that she likes that her daughter is the truth-seeker in a world that’s so filled with deceit and corruption and lies, which is the Catholic Church. And she likes that she’s going to be a ghostbuster in a way. But she is impatient with her because she wants her to stand up for herself more. And again, I think she applauded hitting the guy who cut in line, because her daughter’s been so passive. She used to put up with a lot of shit from men. She’s impatient with her daughter, like, “Come on. Dump this husband. Stand up for yourself. Be more empowered,” just like she’s on her own empowerment path.
We’ve gotten comedy episodes, a silent episode. Is there a musical episode coming up, a period episode?
Oh, I would love that. That would be a dream. Yeah, that would be great. I don’t know, honestly, I haven’t seen anything for next season, but I’m very excited about it, because I think Sheryl’s path, her journey, is just getting more and more interesting and fun to play.
More Evil S2E9 thoughts (I rewatched)
Another episode with loads in it!
Kristen (and Andy)
Aw, Sheryl might hate him, but I think Andy really does care about Kristen and is super worried about what’s going on with her. Which given she thinks ‘Blaming the person who wronged me’ = ‘Smacking a bag of frozen chips into his head’ (or indeed, ‘Hacking him to death with an ice axe’), may well be justified.
He’s one month from trucking-business retirement. Is Andy coming back from Colorado?
How useful is Dr Kurt actually? Is he helping? In what way?
Ben
Nobody’s torturing Ben this week! Hooray!! He got to do his techy investigating gig without being terrified by sleep demons, ghosts, weird shadowy crypt ... shadows (what even was that?).
The laptop ‘bug’ has a pentagram on it, which is .. lol?
I’m a little concerned that he genuinely seems not to have considered that Leland knows they’re monitoring him (and David had to say it). Right from the very start he was set up as a somewhat tech-oriented demon (”Those are my tools”), so how come they didn’t all just assume it?
But really, I’m just glad no-one hurt Ben for 48mins.
David
Bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang *Is that Leland?* bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang *Sounds like Leland ...* bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang *Yup. Sigh.*
Ah I love David’s 🙄🙄🙄 so much.
There’s no way Leland had time to swap out a stick of RAM while he was there though, he was too busy fake-crying, throwing himself on the floor and sketching angels that may or may not be attacking him. So, unless he did it by magic, I wonder if that bug has been there for a while (which is slightly worrying).
Nice to get a chat between David and Kristen, even if she did ask him not to be a priest. They’re right, it’s been ages since they’ve talked. David’s hugs look nice. I wouldn’t mind a David hug.
And he’s (finally) going to get back to what we believed was the Main Plot - RSM Fertility. Four episodes left David, one month, tick tock!
Sheryl and Leland
There are two big questions I have here:
Why??? does Sheryl agree to give Leland her blood! I can’t think of even one good reason why she would do that.
He turns up at not-her-house, wheedles at her and gets the door in his face. I thought she only opened it again because he wouldn’t stop pounding on it. When she says she’ll ‘think about it’, it sounds like ‘piss off’.
But then she turns up at his, at some previously agreed time, offering her arm out (just a pint though, yeah, because that’s a reasonable request). What changed her mind in between? Does it involve Eddie. What IS Eddie ffs!!
[btw I’ve thought this before, but Leland has a seriously nice gaff tho’. He might be middle-management on the demon ladder, but someone (or something) is bankrolling him hard.]
And two ... ... what are they eating?? ... ...
Because when Leland took the head off the goat therapist/evaluator (Michael Emerson - not bad at looking absolutely fucking deranged is he?) he said ‘Human blood. Yours.’ Which is very very disturbing indeed.
for the prompts thing, may i please request 43 and John/Penny brotp?
This has taken absolutely AGES to do!!   But finally - here you go!!
43. “She’s been missing sinceFriday and you’re not worried?”
John and Penny BROTP   For Akireyta
“She’s been missing since Friday and you’re not worried?”General Lord Hugh Creighton-Ward looked at his erstwhile RSM, and currentMinder for his daughter.  “What the helldo you think you’re doing!  That isexactly why I employ you – to know where that girl of mine is at alltimes!  God knows what she could be upto!”
“Hwell, M’Lord, I know in which general vicinity she’sin.  And I know ‘oo she’s with.  I just don’t know ‘her h’exact location andwat she’s doing there.”
Lord Creighton-Ward took a deep breath.  “All right then, Parker.  Who’s she with.”
**~**~**~**~**~
“I cannot believe I agreed to this.  Tell me again why I did.”
“Because you like a challenge, John.  And I asked nicely.  And you owe me a favour after the thing with the British SpaceAgency.”  Lady Penelope Creighton-Wardpeered over John’s shoulder to where he was delicately attaching a smallcomponent into the computer mainframe. “Are you nearly done yet?”
“Almost.  It’stricky.  Another reason I need to askwhy.  There are easier ways to do this.”
“you know, if you stopped complaining, then you might getthrough this faster.”
John turned to her and raised an eyebrow.  “And yet again I find myself asking why Ikeep agreeing to your suggestions.”
Penelope patted his shoulder.  “Because I’m irresistible, John.   Oh, and because it gets you out of theartificial atmosphere of Thunderbird Five.”
John soldered the last wire in place, long fingers delicate.  When it was done he sat back on hisheels.  “London, you said.  A couple of days in London.  Tea. Scones with cream.  Fish andchips.  This is not what youpromised.  We are not in London.”
“Well, that’s entirely your own fault, darling,” Penny retortedand then stopped and raised a black-gloved finger to her lips.   She moved noiselessly across the floor andpeered out the door cautiously.  Shedarted back to John.  “Are you finished?”she asked urgently.  “Because I think itwould be best if we left now.”
John rose and sighed. “Really?   You were supposed to bekeeping watch.  I’m done now.  I’ll be able to access this from anywherenow.”  He took a step towards the door,but her hand stopped him.
“Not that way.  Thereare intruders.”
“Other than us?  Arethey having some sort of intruder open day or something?”  John’s voice, although quiet, was richlysarcastic, and Penelope couldn’t help but to smile.  John always managed to keep her from takingherself far too seriously.
“It would appear so; however I suspect that we don’t want tospend time with these people.”  Herfinger tapped her lower lip.  “Time forplan B I think.”
She turned to the backpack that John had carried andrummaged, pulling out two small round objects. “When I throw these, run in the opposite direction.   We may have to do some climbing.”
He loved Penny, truly loved her.  But her Plan B’s tended to sometimes be alittle sketchy.  And he didn’t fancyclimbing either up or down the building.
It was then that he saw it. There would be no noise, no running. And he had just the equipment needed to make it an effective exit.  John reached out and grabbed Penny’sarm.  “No,” he hissed.  “This way!”
 *~~**~~~***~~**~*
“Good morning, Daddy!” Lady Penelope’s voice was chipper, bright and she bent down and kissedthe top of her father’s head.
She had managed to conceal her surprise at seeing herfather’s car waiting for her and John after they disembarked the Euroexpresstrain in London.  John hadn’t missed theway her eyes widened though when the car driver wasn’t Parker, and when theypulled up at Lord Creighton-Ward’s townhouse. “How lovely of you to send somebody to collect us.”
John Tracy looked startled and ducked his headslightly.  “Sir,” he managed to croakout, aware of the fact that he looked less than well-turned out.
Lord Creighton-Ward put down his tablet and deliberatelydrank some of his tea before answering. “How was your weekend?” he asked, his tone deceptively mild.
Penelope breezed to the sideboard, picked up a plate andstarted to serve herself from the breakfast dishes laid out, gesturing at Johnto do the same.  “Interesting,” she said,taking her seat.  “I’ll have tea please,Dawkins.  I believe Mr Tracy will aswell.”
John wished he could be as nonchalant as his bestfriend.  But he couldn’t get rid of thethought that they had spent the weekend breaking into and stealing informationffom the man seated at the head of the table.
The toast was dry in his mouth, and it seemed as if it had alife of its own – crumbs falling like a toasty hailstorm.  Desperately he took a gulp of the tea beforehim.  It was hot, civilised; and Johntook comfort in the fact that If Lord Creighton-Ward blamed him for all of thismess, he wouldn’t have offered him breakfast.
He  hoped.
“Interesting transport method you used.  Any reason why you chose it?”
Penelope sipped her tea and daintily ate a piece oftoast.  “I was hoping you could explainthat.  I was most surprised to find thatsuddenly and inexplicably both Parker and the Rolls were unavailable.  I must admit, it did make the task you setrather more…. Challenging.”
John spluttered. “Hang on…”  He looked at LordCreighton-Ward.  “You knew?”
Hugh Creighton-Ward raised an eyebrow.  “I knew about the task I assigned mydaughter,” he said.  “However, I did not expect her to vanish completely.Iwas most perturbed by Sunday morning.  Ispent a very very uncomfortable few hours with Jeff Tracy until we finallytracked you both down.  Amazing technologythat satellite has.”
He rose and went to the sideboard, coming back with twoplates which he put on the table in front of Penelope and John.  “For crying out loud, eat you two!  It’s bad enough you look like street urchinsat the moment, but when Sylvia comes down, it will cause her to shut upsomewhat if she can see you are eating at least!”
He harrumphed as he sat down again.  “I dare say neither of you would turn down ahot bath and a change of clothes anyway.” He tried, he really did, to sound gruff. But he was proud of his daughter, and impressed by John.
They were damn good!
There was silence at the table as John and Penny ate, but asthey finished Hugh settled back with a fresh cup of tea.
“So, tell me from the beginning.”
Guitar Show 2017 Review
The Guitar Show hit Birmingham once again this year, and it was just as great as ever. I managed to head on over to both days of the show, and I met so many great people and saw some fantastic creations. This year I’ve decided to do a rundown of some of the companies I chatted to, explaining what they do and the products they provide.
Flame Guitars Website: http://flameguitars.co.uk I had long conversations with David Kennett last year about his creations, and it was great to see the updated collection. I actually managed to play one of his guitars this time, and I was not disappointed one bit! I had a try of the ‘Flame F2’ model, which featured a pair of Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups, which really pack a punch but still maintain a fantastic clean sound. Flame Guitars also had Phil Short, winner of Guitar Idol 2016, demonstrating the guitars and showing the full spectrum of sounds one can get from the instrument.
Rob Williams Guitars Website: http://robwilliamsguitars.co.uk A Birmingham local, Rob was showcasing his beautiful array of hand made guitars at the show this year. I didn’t manage to talk to Rob at the show last year, but this year certainly made up for it! Rob is definitely qualified when it comes to guitars, and it shows in his creations. His guitars are both classic and custom, featuring stunning finishes and fantastic sounds. Rob also winds the pickups featured in his guitars, so they are truly custom.
Fretfunk Website: https://www.fretfunk.co.uk As far as guitar accessories are concerned, Fretfunk has real coverage. With a range including strap locks, straps, colourful strings, plectrums, and hangers/stands. Based in Portsmouth, Fretfunk have a great selection of accessories that are essential to every guitarist.
Heistercamp Website: http://www.heistercamp.co.uk Heistercamp excel in the making of leather straps, and have been working with leather in Devon since the 1800s. Even from looking at the straps you can tell they are fantastic quality. The list of artists who use Heistercamp straps include Ronnie Wood, Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Peredur Ap Gwynedd (Pendulum), members of Reef, and members of Haim.
Stone Wolf Guitars Website: http://swguitars.blogspot.co.uk I chatted with Mike from Stone Wolf guitars last year, and it was great to see what has been going on since. Stone Wolf is a company that never fails to produce stunning guitars that would be appropriate for so many genres of music, being badass but still maintaining a very natural and earthy quality.
The Fretboard Website: http://www.thefretboard.co.uk The Fretboard is a forum for guitarists and anything you can think of relating to guitars. This website is a place for musicians to talk to each other, get advice, and have questions answered. I have joined it since hearing about it and I look forward to using it more!
RSM Custom Guitars Website: https://www.rsmcustomguitars.com/ Rob was another luthier who I met at last year’s Guitar Show, and it was great to see some of his newer models. RSM Custom are very good at standing out from a crowd, with light up elements and beautiful woods and craftsmanship. I love how out there Rob’s designs are, it never fails to make me smile.
Chickenbone John’s Cigar Box Guitars Website: https://www.chickenbonejohn.com Chickebone John is a UK based cigar box guitar luthier, and a fantastic one at that. The guitars were made to an extremely high level of quality, and looked stunning and eye catching. At John’s booth he also stocked items such as ‘jam jars’ which were mini amplifiers fitted into a jam jar, and license plate stomp boxes.
These were just some of the amazing people I met at the Guitar Show 2017, and I extend my thanks to everyone who was there for being so kind and chatty! I’m very much looking forward to the Guitar Show 2018.
How the economy could make or break Trump in 2020
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/how-the-economy-could-make-or-break-trump-in-2020/
How the economy could make or break Trump in 2020
Even blah — a 2 percent-or-so growth rate with unemployment still near or below 4 percent — could be enough to help Trump overcome a low approval rating and win again.
But if he really hopes to romp over the eventual Democratic nominee, he’ll probably need markets to keep popping and growth to bubble higher, especially in the industrial Midwest. And it is far from obvious how the United States can get there from here.
“I don’t think we are going to see growth re-accelerate in 2020,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics. “The trade truce takes the recession risk off the table for now, but it’s not enough to propel stronger growth. If it’s a 2 percent economy, then all else being equal — and it’s a typical turnout — Trump will probably win. But if there’s strong Democratic turnout, especially in manufacturing states with weaker economies, those states will probably flip.”
The White House and the rest of the GOP, of course, take a very different view.
They see the China deal and U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) as rocket-boosters and predict a breakout in previously stalled capital spending and manufacturing, driving Trump to a “Morning in America” electoral college blowout that keeps former Blue Wall Midwestern states firmly in his column. They also talk up what will certainly be a Tax Cuts 2.0 plan Trump will roll out some time next year as a tantalizing treat with no chance of actually becoming law in 2020.
“As long as there is no recession, I think Trump is in good shape — and if growth is stronger he’s in really good shape,” said Stephen Moore, a conservative economist and outside adviser to the president. “I think we will grow at 2.5 to 3 percent. And the last two weeks have been really good for Trump with USMCA and the China deal. And they couldn’t have come at a better time for him.”
As the year draws to a close, here are three big things that could make or break the economy and the stock market as big advantages for Trump heading into his 2020 reelection bid.
Will manufacturing rebound?
Perhaps the biggest risk to Trump — and the toughest knock on his record — is the months-long decline in manufacturing that began as Trump’s trade wars really took hold. Manufacturing tipped into recession territory over the summer and has yet to turn around, leading to weaker economies in states that Trump needs to win in 2020. That includes places like Pennsylvania where the unemployment rate is rising and hit 4.2 percent in October.
Michigan also has an unemployment rate above the national average at 4.1 percent and saw declines in the manufacturing sector in both September and October, though some of that came from the now-ended strike at GM.
The question for Trump is whether at least stopping new tariffs on Chinese imports — which are often inputs into the manufacturing process — can reverse the slide in manufacturing, which represents a small slice of the overall U.S. economy but was critical to the president’s “Make America Great Again” message. Economists are skeptical that a China deal leaving most of the existing tariffs in place will have a large impact.
“I’m not sure you are going to see a very sustained change unless uncertainty around trade dissipates completely,” said Rubeela Farooqi, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics. “One positive is the threat of new tariffs at least is not there, though honestly I’m not sure it’s really gone away.”
Farooqi noted that some readings on capital spending are looking positive, including in the Empire State and Philadelphia Fed surveys. But it’s not clear that a broad uptick in capital spending the White House is hoping for will materialize.
Manufacturing in 2020 could also take a significant hit from Boeing’s decision to halt production of its 737 MAX airliner following serious safety concerns. Boeing is a giant part of U.S. manufacturing and the hit will be felt not just in the loss of production of planes but also well down the supply chain.
The halt to Boeing 737 MAX production next month will likely shave half a percentage point off first-quarter economic growth, RSM economist Joseph Brusuelas said in a note to clients. “The economic damage will likely be noted via the inventory channel, factory orders, industrial production and likely headcount among aircraft suppliers.”
Trump grew so concerned about the Boeing impact he placed a direct call to the company’s CEO, Dennis Muilenburg.
Can the stock market keep popping higher?
Trump loves to brag about new records in the stock market, tweeting about them relentlessly since taking office in 2017. And he’s correct that there have been big gains, with the Dow up more than 50 percent since his election in November of 2016 (his preferred time frame for calculating the increase).
Market professionals say Trump’s corporate tax cuts and deregulatory agenda in energy, financial services and other industries get much of the credit for the gains. But the Fed played a role as well.
Stocks took a big plunge in the second half of 2018 as the trade wars raged and the Fed quickly stepped in early this year — after heavy brow-beating from Trump — with a series of rate cuts that helped push markets higher even as overall growth slowed and the impact of Trump’s tax cuts faded.
But earlier this month, Fed Chair Jerome Powell signaled the central bank is out of the rate-cutting business for now, removing one catalyst for future market gains. And a very strong November jobs report only reinforced the Fed’s view that the economy should be fine now without added stimulus.
This did not sit particularly well with Trump, though he has generally reduced the frequency of his attacks on Powell.
“Would be sooo great if the Fed would further lower interest rates and quantitative ease,” Trump tweeted on Dec. 17. “The Dollar is very strong against other currencies and there is almost no inflation. This is the time to do it. Exports would zoom!”
That’s not likely to happen. And traders worry that expected slow growth and current high market valuations mean 2020 might not be a boom year for Wall Street.
“The thing about gains this year was they largely came from an increase in multiples and not earnings growth,” said Steve Massocca of Wedbush Securities, referring to a phenomena in which the price of a stock goes up without the underlying company actually earning much more money. “And a lot of it was driven by monetary policy not just from the U.S., but from the Bank of Japan and the European Central Bank. This is an expensive market and the tea leaves don’t show significant further gains.”
Will the election itself cause a slowdown?
One concern bubbling around economic and Wall Street circles these days is that while impeachment doesn’t seem like a big deal — everyone thinks Trump will get acquitted in the Senate — the 2020 election itself could produce a significant drag on markets and economic growth.
Polls suggest a close race no matter who emerges with the Democratic nomination. And even if the nominee is a more business-friendly moderate like former Vice President Joe Biden, a switch in power in the executive branch could bring dramatically different tax and regulatory policies. Some of this will depend on the outcome at the congressional level. Because even a President Elizabeth Warren would not be able to reverse Trump’s tax cuts with the GOP holding at least one house of Congress. But a radical change in course in the White House is a widely held concern.
“What is health care going to look like? Are you going to be able to have corporate profits? Are we going to have certain taxes on corporate profits? What are they going to do with corporate buybacks? What are they going to do with corporate legislation? It’s a really tough environment,” Gary Cohn, Trump’s former National Economic Council director said at a recent SEC event.
Trump’s allies are worried about this as well, wondering whether a race that is expected to be more expensive and nastier than perhaps any in American history could create a drag on corporate spending and stock prices that in turn dents the president’s consistently solid ratings on the economy.
“I’m a little surprised the market is doing so well now given what I call the ‘Elizabeth Warren risk,’” said Moore. “Let’s say you get to a 50-50 race, then you start pricing in the likelihood of Warren or really whoever it might be winning, and then the market reacts to that and that drags everything down.”
William Koehler had served as principal trainer at the War Dog Training Center, in California, and after the war became chief trainer for the Orange Empire Dog Club—at the time, the largest dog club in the United States—instructor for a number of breed clubs, and a dog trainer for the Walt Disney Studios.[18] In 1962 Koehler published The Koehler Method of Dog Training, in which he is highly critical of what he calls “tid-bit training techniques” based in “the prattle of ‘dog psychologists'”.[17] Amongst the training innovations attributed to Koehler is the use of a long line in conjunction with a complete absence of oral communication as a way of instilling attentiveness prior to any leash training. Koehler insisted that participants in his training classes used “emphatic corrections”, including leash jerks and throw chains, explaining that tentative, nagging corrections were cruel in that they caused emotional disturbance to the dog.[19] Vicki Hearne, a disciple of Koehler’s, commented on the widespread criticism of his corrections, with the explanation that it was the emotionally loaded language used in the book that led to a number of court cases, and to the book being banned in Arizona for a time.[20] Despite the controversy, his basic method forms the core of many contemporary training systems.[21] Clothes & Costumes Tweet Dog Training Infographic Teach “Go Potty” Command: Shy Pups Pets 101 toggle menu Don’t forget dog walkers and pet sitters. This way accidents will be few and your new puppy will know what to do within only a few days of housetraining. Training dogs to stop using the floor to relieve themselves is important. Teaching your puppy good potty habits is the basis for a trusting and loving relationship between you and your new family member. Puppies are naturally playful and have to learn limits when it comes to playing rough. As soon as your puppy nips, say “ouch” and yelp. Ignore your dog for up to 20 seconds after it lets go of your hand. This will teach your dog that you won’t tolerate rough play.[6] Don’t be alarmed if your puppy sounds distressed – leaving its mother is a big life change. “Bringing a puppy home is super-exciting for the family but perhaps less so for the puppy, so it’s your role to ensure [the transition] is as stress-free and happy as it can be,” says Claire. Talk to your puppy quietly so it becomes used to your voice, and try not to smother it with attention. Your puppy may cry at night at first and it can be upsetting to listen to, but leave lights off and try to avoid letting your puppy sleep with you or your kids, unless you’re prepared to have an adult dog on your bed for the next 15 years. Also, you must test your dog once in awhile. As they grow, the duration for how long your puppy will be able to hold it in will increase. Testing this can go well if you’re patient and careful. But if you’re not, remember accidents will happen. When your dog is a year or so, expect them to have few accidents, if any.
Charles Howell III explains what he loves — and hates — about golf
Golf is a maddening game. Amateur golfers know that all too well. But flipping on the television every week to watch the best on the planet play the game, it’s hard to remember that even the best players often feel the same way.
Charles Howell III, once golf’s next can’t-miss prospect that never fulfilled the lofty expectations that were once set upon him, captured his first win in 11 years at the RSM Classic at Sea Island over the weekend. My colleague Dylan Dethier recapped Howell’s outpouring of emotion following his long-awaited return to the winner’s circle, but there was one part of his victory interview that especially stuck out to me: Howell talking about what he loves — and hates — about golf.
What He Loves About Golf
“I love most about [golf] because it’s all on you, it’s all on the player. Golf is never about one competitor versus another and it never will be. It’s against the player versus himself and versus the golf course. At no point today or whatever was I thinking it’s me against Cameron or it’s me against Webb or whatever. It’s just you against you, and as crazy as that sounds, it’s the way that it is.”
What He Hates About Golf
“What I hate about it is that you can work and work and work and get absolutely no results from that, and I know that there’s a lot of industries and a lot of areas where that also applies, but golf for certain. You can speak to any Tour player out here past or current and I think they would tell you the same thing, that you can go down a rabbit hole and work and work and work and literally on the back end nothing come out of it, and I think that’s the hardest part to swallow.”
Howell’s quotes are so refreshing — and so true. They offer the kind of perspective we don’t always hear from golfers at the top end of the game. And more than anything else, they’re the kind of comments that can apply to golfers everywhere, regardless of skill level. Next time you’re playing poorly, don’t blame your clubs, or the course, or anybody around you. Embrace what Howell loves most about golf: That it’s all on you.
