When I play RPGs with customisable PCs, I always end up imagining what it would be like if all my characters existed in the same world and had the chance to collide full force run into each other. Some games make this easy (Pillars of Eternity letting you create and hire random adventurers) and some call for more creativity (Dragon Age Origins implying an assortment of terrible fates for the origins you don’t play… sob). BG3 is definitely on the easier side.

…all of this is to say, aaahhh I can’t stop thinking about a potential Act 1 AU where Lykos, Minthara, and their little army attack the grove, Vin'ath & co. stop them, and they get taken prisoner. Maybe Lae'zel's with them and gets captured too (this would work beautifully if all of them met on the nautiloid and then got separated in the chaos - I can’t imagine Vin or Shadowheart would try very hard to stick with the two Ls, or vice versa). Just - the sheer emotional mess for Vin, having to face off not just with another githyanki but with a Vlaakith cleric who belongs to an even more hardcore cult-within-a-cult. Lykos going ??? at this weird little hshar'lak she'lak who in some ways is more doctrinaire gith than he is (though they’d deny it until the end of time). I want.

you know how in 5.13 arthurs like “i tried to take your head off with a mace” and merlins like “and i stopped you, using magic” and arthurs immediate reply to that is “you cheated” … and i guess i was just thinking about the breathy little laugh merlin lets out in response to that. bc like i just noticed how maybe it was a little bit of relief and awe. because like. he just talked to arthur. about magic. about using magic From The Beginning. against him in a fight. and arthurs immediate response, his most natural reaction to that, was to comment on merlins poor sportsmanship. out of anything he couldve said something about. the first thing that came to mind was merlin not playing fair. which. idk. IDK!!!

i love the new pjo tv show don't get me wrong but i feel like it's missing the like, campiness of the original? that got translated pretty well into the musical but honestly 2-3 lines of witty dialogue per episode isn't really getting the original Ridiculousness of the book across.

like it's been pointed out that they seem to immediately know & recognize every myth they encounter, which is part of it, but like...episode 7 in particular made me sigh a lot because they cut so much of the humor! things like annabeth just immediately training cerberus to stay put and them bald-face lying to Charon that they are all dead, actually, they drowned in a bathtub. Together. it was such a nice like, breather before they get into the Very Serious Underworld Scenes and instead...nope, just more ACTION.

and they took out stuff in other episodes that made the tone lighter-things like percy and annabeth getting grossed out by the mirrors in the tunnel of love ride, the dam snack bar jokes, grover eating cans, them playing around in the lotus hotel, etc. i feel like half the fun of the original books was that, at any given conflict, the main characters were either going to sword fight their way out or completely bullshit their way out in the most convoluted ridiculous way possible. which was hilarious and also suspenseful-is percy going to pick up riptide, or is he going to start talking baseball? and them giving impassioned dialogue all the time instead of goofing around a bit just weighs down the whole tone of the show.

i feel like the show is very action-adventure whereas the original book was more of an adventure romp. i also feel like with the new heaviness that's come with multiple POVs (like seeing percy and sally's backstory) the show would really benefit from like, sad shot of sally and poseidon talking then BOOM cut to percy complaining about getting sand on his favorite pair of jeans while on the beach with ares. or something else.

Sydney has blonde ombré braids in s1 and Carmy is a dirty blonde because she’s trying to digest more of Carmy’s abilities and they mirror each other and then in s2 she has less blonde and it’s more like highlights because they aren’t as close in s2 and it’s showing their distance even though they are supposed to be closer together! Once they are supposed to be together in s3 then she will go almost completely blonde making her officially a Berzatto and the transformation is fully complete 😭😭😭

Edit: Hmm before this gets to making the rounds let me preface this by saying I don't think there was anything racially motivated about the Sheva decision so much as it was laziness, as much as I would've loved to see a Post 5 Sheva, if you all recall Rebecca was utterly useless in Vendetta, a deus ex machina strapped to a bed taking 45 minutes to die while Chris and Leon were riding around in trucks and motorcycles. I don't think Sheva getting nerfed in that way was worth what was essentially a glorified cameo.

Because it inspired me to write my first fanfiction and sometimes I feel like life tortures me everyday beyond my limits. But I keep going anyways and I’m not gonna stop until I’m put down. And I may be sluggish but my house will have to be nuked to stop me from drinking tea and smiling through tears, “This is fine.” :)
