I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"
#Which.. I mean... I am allowed to be biased because literally it's just for my own personal reference (or occasionall#y to send to friends or something if we're discussing the topic) so like.. nowhere am I saying 'I am the god of perfect taste and these#rankings are objectively the absolute truth and everyone should have my same opinion' or anything#BUT still.. it's funny to me sometimes#'Succession would be 100x better if it had the same cast/character quirks and shaky camera style and#acting choices/weird dialogue and general concept etc. EXCEPT it takes place within an elven noble family or something#managing the family business and everyone is in fantasy costumes now'' like.....okay...... but it's NOT that way..soo... thats not the show#''I like the acting style/general tone of Fleabag but i don't care for any of the characters or any of the subject matter and I wish it was#set in the 1800s and had vampires and was about magic instead'' okay..... again... you are making up an entirely new show in that case lol#OR my other beloved typical complaint ''The concept is good but theres too much plot and action and not enough people just sitting#around doing nothing and exposition dumping world and character lore'' ''this needs more goofy sideplots and filler episodes''#''this Drama was too dramatic I think it should be more lighthearted & people need to sit around doing nothing just being weird more often'#''the Action Movie was ok except for the action scenes - which I skipped through all of- but I liked the costumes and worldbuilding'' etc.#ERM sorry your plot has too much plot. also elves have to be included somehow. bye#BUT SERIOUSLY!!!!!! I literally genuinely believe that any show I like (or even dislike) could ALWAYS be improved greatly by#putting people in fantasy or historical costume/setting/etc... why the FUNK would I want to see bland jeans and cars and cell phones#when I could see elaborate velvet cloaks and fantastical landscapes and interior design and innovative takes on historical or#magical technology or etc. etc. etc. I LIVE in the modern day. I see it all the time!!! BORING! stinky!! boo!!!#ANYWAY... another social divide for me.. People love to bond by discussing media. which is hard when I'm like#'I literally will not watch something at all unless it fits into one of these 10 extremely specific categories which are all i care about i#the entire world''.. I say this and yet I still dislike most fantasy or historical things I've watched lol. ok TWO main criteria then!!#it must 1. be in a different world or time period. 2. be goofy silly. Nothing ever has BOTH. It's always overly serious boring drama action#fantasy/history stuff OR it's comedic lighthearted but with modern day characters... WHY.. anguish and woe and so on..#ANYWAY jhjnk... at least I can make that divide. Some people seem to project their own personal preferences and get really emotionally#defensive if you say you didn't like something - as if the fact that they DO like it is some Objective Truth or something rather than just#opinion/preference based. I can still easily say ''this is well made/well written/acted/good in a technical sense/has a lot of#points of appeal that most people would be drawn to/etc'' and admit that it's a GOOD show probably. I just PERSONALLY think its#bad because my tastes are very narrow. Some things ARE actually made badly but. things are not bad INHERENTLY just bc they dont suit ME lol#Better to recognize/accept whats odd about you and be peacefully aware of it than just being mad at everyone all the time for not fully#agreeing with you even when you're the one with the Weird opinion in that case lol.. I am right though :3 but.. lol... still. i get it

Thinking about how important it is that Wendy is a part of the Pines family. (Because she is, as much as Soos is. It's why she's in the family photos, such as the one representing Ford's happiness at the end of The Book of Bill.)
We don't know too much about Wendy's home / family life. Unfortunately, we don't a single Wendy-focused episode, and we don't get to learn too much about her outside of how she interacts with the main characters. But here is what we do know:
Wendy is the oldest of four siblings, with three little brothers. Wendy herself is 15. We are never given ages for her brothers, but given the photo that she shows Dipper of her younger self in "Double Dipper", I'm guesstimating that the youngest Corduroy brother (Gus) is about 6 in the present day. This is because young!Wendy was wearing braces and also noted to be "freakishly tall" for her age, and Gus was wearing a diaper in the photo (but standing on his own). Braces can take two to three years to be removed, and Wendy doesn't have them in the present day, meaning she was probably around 11 or 12 in the photo. Meanwhile, Gus was in a diaper but able to stand, meaning he was probably a toddler, likely around 2. So in the present day, Wendy is 15, Gus is around 6 (depending on if Wendy was 11 or 12 in the photo), and Marcus and Kevin (the middle brothers) are between 14 and 7.
Wendy's mother died when she was young. Given the age of Gus in the photo, we can estimate that Wendy's mother died when Wendy was, at youngest, 11 or 12 -- so, three or four years pre-canon. (Because any earlier than that and Gus couldn't have been born.)
Wendy's father is Manly Dan, who shouts just about every line of dialogue he has and routinely breaks things, including in his own house, albeit sometimes by accident. He also spends most of his time in a biker bar, though we do know that he does love his children. (e.g. is seen with the boys on both family fishing day and Summerween, is seen taking Wendy out for breakfast in "Dipper vs. Manliness").
Dan is the reason why Wendy has a summer job. As she says in "Gideon Rises", "If I can't work at the Shack, my dad's gonna force me to work at my cousin's logging camp up north." This implies that Wendy has to work somewhere, per a rule of Dan's.
In "Into the Bunker", Wendy has this to say when she comments on how she's excited to be going on an adventure with Dipper and Mabel: "It beats cleaning up after my dad at home." She says this with a frown, in a grousing tone. We're then treated to a clip of Dan breaking apart the cabin as mentioned above.
In "Society of the Blind Eye", before she's about to have her memories erased, Wendy confesses thus: "I'm stressed like 24/7. Have you MET my family?"
Wendy dreams about her mother every night. The glimpse of her dream that we're shown depicts her receiving a comforting hug from her mother.
The conclusions that I draw from the above are thus: prior to her mother's death, Wendy had what amounts to a normal family life in Gravity Falls. The Corduroys were a two parent household, her mother was there to help balance Dan out and raise the kids (Wendy included), and Wendy could, well . . . be a kid. It's possible, even, that some of Dan's more worrying traits (such as spending the majority of his time at a bar) didn't exist when Wendy's mom is alive. It's pure speculation on my part, but it's possible that Dan feels compelled to go to a bar to be aggressive (and drink, even if we don't see it because it's a kid's show) because that's how he processes his grief over his wife's death, away from his children's eyes and ears. He's trying to be a responsible father and not hurt his kids, while at the same time still not handling things in the most healthy way.
But back to Wendy. Once Wendy's mother died, the dynamic in the Corduroy household shifted. Dan was hit by the tidal wave of grief that comes with losing a spouse, as well as the sudden onslaught of being a single father to four children, one of whom was very possibly still in diapers. And if my speculation is correct and that he took to going to the bar to deal with his grief, then who is left to change Gus' diapers and get him potty trained? To operate the stove or oven or microwave to make sure that the boys (who would all be under age 10 at this point) got fed, and to make sure she got fed herself? To, in her own words, "clean up [her] dad's messes" when he was at home to make them by breaking apart the house with his own head?
Wendy.
Wendy was a child herself when her mother died, but she was the oldest child, potentially freshly into middle school while the boys were still in elementary, and the oldest daughter to boot. The girl, expected to know how to do "girl things" like cook and clean. I'm not saying that Dan told her to do these things, but we know from Wendy's personality that she is protective of those who need it (e.g. Dipper and Mabel) and, more importantly, that's her home and her family, and she does love them (she makes this clear in the Weirdmageddon episodes numerous times). She wouldn't let her little brothers starve, wouldn't let her youngest sit in a filthy diaper, would try to pick up the house if her dad and brothers wouldn't. Wendy would step up to do it out of necessity, even if she hated it and felt stressed out about it, especially while also feeling the crushing grief that comes with having lost her mother.
So Wendy, having lost her mother at a young age, probably had to step up into a pseudo-parental role in her own house, trying her best to fill the void that was left by her mother's passing even though she was only a child herself. And this is why she's "stressed, like, 24/7." Because not only are her father and brothers loud and chaotic (especially with Dan raising the boys into miniature versions of him), but because it's her responsibility (spoken or no) to keep the house in as much order as she can. It's little wonder that, outside of the movie that she and Dipper are watching in the beginning of "Into the Bunker", Wendy seems to spend as little time as possible in her own home.
So, how does this fit into it being important for Wendy to be part of the Pines family? Or, worded in a better way, why it's so important that she has the Pines as a second family, and the Mystery Shack as a second home?
As I said above, once Wendy's mother died, her ability to be a child in her own home effectively ended. Again, to make it clear, Wendy doesn't hate her family. In fact, it's the opposite; the Weirdmageddon episodes make it clear that she still loves her father and her brothers very much. But "Society of the Blind Eye" also makes it clear that they stress her out. She has a lot of complicated feelings, something that's understandable given her complicated situation.
But because she has to help keep the house together when she's at home, that means she can only really be a kid (or teenager, as the case may be) when she's outside of it. She has a lot of fun doing this with her friends, but sometimes a teen does need a home to relax in. And for Wendy, that home is the Mystery Shack -- and yes, that includes when she's on the clock.
Now, I know what you may be thinking: it's stated that Stan is a terrible boss, that he barks orders, that he yells -- how is that any different from her father? Well, I'll tell you how: the only time we actually see this is in "Boss Mabel", in which Stan being a boss who yells and barks orders at his employees is a plot point meant to create the conflict for the episode. Otherwise, we never really see Stan being an awful boss, and in particular we never see him being hard on Wendy. In fact, I would argue we see the opposite.
Here are things we know about Wendy's behavior at work, and Stan's response to her behavior at work:
Wendy constantly reads magazines while working the cash register, often right in front of Stan. Stan never tells her to put the magazine away.
Wendy often puts her feet up on the counter. Stan never tells her to take her feet off the counter.
Wendy goes up to the roof "all the time, every day" to the point where she has a chair and cooler up there. ("The Inconveniencing"). We don't know if Stan knows about this or not, but it's hard to believe he wouldn't if Wendy goes up there as much as she says she does.
When Stan told her to hang signs up out in the woods, she said, "I would, but I can't . . . reach . . ." while making no effort to get up to get the sign, and not removing her eyes from the magazine or her feet from the counter. Stan simply said, "I'd fire [. . .] you if I could." i.e. she got away with it 100%. ("Tourist Trapped")
When Stan double checks with Wendy and Soos that they'll wash the bathrooms while he's gone, Wendy says, "absolutely not" with a salute. Stan laughs and then says to stay out of trouble, not caring at all. ("The Inconveniencing")
Wendy was supposed to work the ticket stand all night at the party. She quit about ten minutes in and blatantly joined the party. Stan had to have seen her. He did nothing. ("Double Dipper")
Wendy claims in "Boss Mabel" that Stan doesn't let her have friends at work. In contrast, we see Robbie visit her at work all the time throughout their relationship (e.g. "Fight Fighters", "Boyz Crazy"), and Stan even comments on "is that the guy that's always making googly eyes at Wendy?" but otherwise has no problem with it. So again, it was a conflict invented for "Boss Mabel" that otherwise doesn't exist.
And that is just off the top of my head. The point is, Wendy is perhaps treated the easiest of the staff at the Mystery Shack. She's blatantly lazy and snarky and the most Stan ever does is grouse that he would "fire [her] if he could."
And this is a good thing.
The Mystery Shack, even if when she's on the clock, is clearly a place where Wendy can relax. It's somewhere she feels comfortable, rather than stressed. Yes, she's working -- but she's putting in the barest minimum effort because the stakes are the lowest they could possibly be. Because even though Stan grouses and complains about how little she cares, he won't fire her. He says he can't, but let's be honest, he could. One could argue that he'd be out a cashier, but he already is when the school year starts and Wendy has to go back to school. The Shack doesn't close down then, so it wouldn't close now if he fired Wendy.
But he won't fire her, because he knows that if he did, she'd be sent up north to her cousin's logging camp, a job she would hate and that would add on to the stress she already has from her home life. Stan has been in Gravity Falls for 30 years; he's been there since before Wendy was born. He knew her mother. He remembers when her mother died a few years ago. He probably saw how Dan's personality changed, how Wendy's personality changed from a more carefree little girl to a little girl who had to act more carefree than she actually was because she won't ever dare let anyone know she's anything but tough as nails, kinda like the guy he sees when he looks in the mirror. So he'll grouse at her about her laziness, and she'll complain about how much she hates having to work, but he'll also never hire another cashier even during the school year when the Shack maybe could use the extra help, and she knows that he both has an orthopedic back pillow and where it's kept, and that's as much as either of them will say about it. (Source for the orthopedic back pillow: "Soos and the Real Girl").
Wendy spends time at the Shack that would otherwise be spent at her home. When she decides to leave Tambry's party early, she goes to hang out at the Shack and watch movies with Stan, before the twins or Soos arrive ("Summerween"). She's likewise hanging out with the Pines and Soos watching television despite work clearly being over in the beginning of "Dreamscaperers". Wendy can relax at the Shack, can be in a home environment where she has no responsibilities, where she can simply be a teenager without also having to be a pseudo-parent. She can be a big sister figure to Dipper and Mabel without the added responsibilities of having to make sure they're fed and brought up right. She can be snarky with Stan, and he'll be snarky back, and there are no risks or consequences at all.
It's important that Wendy is a member of the Pines family, because here there are no complications for her. She loves her original family, but things got difficult when her mother died, and they won't ever stop being difficult. But things aren't difficult with the Pines. In a way, being with the Pines is as comfortable as the hugs she gets from her mother in her dreams every night. Being with the Pines feels right. It feels safe.
It's good that Wendy has them. It's important that Wendy has them. And fortunately, she always will.

Episode 4: Let’s go Dancing!
Y/N couldn’t sleep. The clock on her nightstand glowed 4:00 AM, its dim light casting soft shadows on her bedroom walls. Frustrated, she tossed the blankets aside, wrapped her robe tightly around her shoulders, and quietly made her way downstairs.
As she reached the living room, she was surprised to find the faint glow of the TV illuminating the room. Stanley was sprawled on the couch, eyes fixed on the screen but not really watching. When he heard her footsteps, he turned his head, his expression softening at the sight of her.
“Stan?” she called softly, her voice breaking the stillness of the early morning.
Stan raised a brow, sitting up slightly. “What’re you doing up so late, kid?”
Y/N pulled the robe tighter around her, the cool night air sending a shiver through her. “I couldn’t sleep,” she admitted, offering a small, tired smile.
Stan patted the space beside him on the couch. “Well, you’re welcome to stay up with me for a bit if you like. There’s some ancient alien documentary marathon going on—my kinda nonsense.”
Y/N chuckled softly, grateful for the offer. “Thanks, Stan,” she said, though she hesitated. “Actually, I’m going to check the mail. I need some fresh air.”
Stan nodded, his eyes following her as she headed to the door. “Sure thing. Don’t let the gnomes get ya,” he joked, his tone light, though his gaze lingered, a mix of concern and understanding.
As Y/N stepped outside, the chill of the early morning hit her, the sky still dark with only a hint of dawn on the horizon. She breathed in the cool air, letting it clear her head if only a little. She walked down the path to the mailbox, her mind still tangled with thoughts she couldn’t quite shake.
Back inside, Stan watched her from the window, his expression turning serious. He sighed, rubbing his hand over his stubbly chin. “Ford is fumbling,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head slightly. He turned back to the TV, the documentary playing on, but his mind was elsewhere—on his brother’s mistakes and the strain it was causing.
♡♡♡
For a moment, a comfortable silence settled between them. She glanced outside, her mind drifting. The sunlight streamed through the dusty window, casting a warm glow on the floorboards. Stan watched her, then looked down at his feet, as if considering something.
“Hey,” he said, breaking the silence. She turned her attention back to him. “I need some business to take care of. The kids are hanging out with Soos for the day. Would you like to join me?”
She tilted her head, surprised by the offer but pleasantly so. “I’d love to,” she replied with a soft smile.
♡♡♡
Stan and Y/N were cruising down the winding roads of Gravity Falls in Stan's beat-up old car, the radio softly crackling with some old tunes. Y/N stared out the window, watching the dense pines and distant mountains roll by. The car's engine hummed, and for a moment, the two of them sat in companionable silence.
Stan, never one for too much quiet, cleared his throat and decided to break it. “Y’know, my ex-wife still misses me,” he said, trying to keep a straight face.
Y/N glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. “Really?”
“But her aim is getting better!” Stan burst out laughing, clearly pleased with his joke.
Y/N couldn’t help but crack a smile. “Hey! You’re smiling,” Stan pointed out with a triumphant grin. “I consider that a win.”
She shook her head, still smiling. “You’re ruthless, Stan.”
He shrugged with a proud grin. “Been called worse.”
Y/N’s smile lingered, but then she noticed something odd about the direction they were heading. She turned back to him, a bit confused. “Wait, where are we going?”
“We’re just heading into town,” Stan replied nonchalantly.
“But I thought we were going to handle some business?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
“We are,” he said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I just wanted to take you somewhere first.”
Her eyes widened in realization, and she gasped. “Are you taking me out?”
Stan feigned innocence. “Why would I do that?”
“You lured me out here so I wouldn’t say no!” she teased, leaning closer to him.
He chuckled, shaking his head. “In your dreams.”
Before Y/N could respond, something caught her eye. They were driving past a building with bright, flashing lights and the muffled thump of music pouring out. “Woah! There’s a dance club here?” she exclaimed, her face lighting up.
Stan glanced over, a bit skeptical. “Don’t you think it’s a little early to party?”
“It’s never too early,” she replied with a grin. “Besides, I haven’t been dancing in a while.”
Stan seemed a bit taken aback. “But we’re not ready,” he mumbled, looking down at his worn-out shirt and his usual grumpy exterior.
“Then let’s go back to get ready!” she suggested, her excitement infectious.
Stan sighed, but there was a small smile creeping up on his face. “Fine,” he muttered, trying to sound reluctant, but he wasn’t fooling anyone.
“Yes! Thank you, Stan!” she cheered, leaning over and giving his arm a playful squeeze.
♡♡♡
“Y/N! Come on!” Stan shouted from the bottom of the stairs, tapping his foot impatiently. “You said that twice in the last 40 minutes. I’m gonna go without ya!” His voice carried that familiar mix of irritation and teasing.
A voice echoed back from above. “It takes time to look this good! Some people try, you know.”
Stan rolled his eyes, muttering to himself, “Yeah, yeah, take your time, why don’t ya…”
Moments later, Y/N descended the stairs, wearing a striking white outfit with gold lining, bell-bottom jeans, and a sleeveless shirt. Her hair, perfectly curled, bounced with every step, and a matching headband sat neatly on her head. Large hoop earrings dangled and swung with each movement.
Stan blinked, his mouth slightly agape. “Woah,” he said, his usual gruffness softening into genuine admiration.
She grinned and teased, “Glad you waited?”
He chuckled, recovering his composure. “You’re on fire today, ain’t ya, hun?” His crooked smile appeared, a rare sight unless he was trying to sell someone something. “Let’s get this over with. I ain't gettin' any younger.”
They arrived at the disco club, and the moment they stepped inside, Y/N's eyes widened with delight. “Disco!” she exclaimed, her gaze sweeping over the colorful lights, the flashing strobes, and the massive disco ball glittering above. She tugged Stan’s hand, pulling him straight to the dance floor.
“You Should Be Dancing” by the Bee Gees began to play, and Y/N gasped with excitement. “I love this song!”
Stan watched, unable to take his eyes off her. She moved freely, as if the entire world had faded away. For a moment, Stan was entranced. His usual smirk softened, and he was almost in awe. She danced like no one was watching, and it was contagious. She grabbed his hand, spinning herself around him, and his grumpy exterior melted for a moment. He couldn’t help but smile.
“Alright, alright, you got me,” he said after a bit, catching his breath. “How ‘bout a shake, huh?”
“Only if you’re paying,” she teased, her laughter infectious.
“Ah, you’re a tough negotiator,” Stan said, chuckling as he walked over to the counter. “Chocolate or vanilla?”
“Vanilla!” Y/N replied with a grin.
Stan nodded. “You heard the lady, and make mine vanilla too.”
As he waited, the lights started flickering, an uneasy rhythm that set his instincts on edge. “What the—?”
Y/N’s smile faltered. “Stan, this isn’t normal, is it?”
Stan’s eyes narrowed, his senses heightened. “Nope. This ain’t normal at all.” The lights flickered more violently, and now people were looking around, concerned. The room buzzed with confusion.
“We gotta get outta here,” Stan growled, grabbing Y/N’s hand. But before they could move, a panic broke out. People were trampling each other in a rush to escape. “Y/N!” he yelled, trying to hold onto her hand, but the crowd pushed them apart.
“Stan!” she screamed, her voice lost in the chaos. The minutes stretched on, and the noise and confusion became overwhelming. They kept calling out for each other, but it felt like they were trapped in a nightmare.
Suddenly, the lights flared on again, but it was only for a moment. The disco ball above started spinning rapidly, faster and faster, casting eerie reflections around the room. Then, with a deafening CRASH, it exploded into shards.
“Y/N!” Stan shouted, frantically searching through the chaos. He spotted her on the ground, struggling to get up as people surged around her.
He pushed his way through, shoving people aside. “Are you hurt?” he asked, reaching down to help her.
“No, I’m okay,” she said, her voice shaky. “Things are just happening so fast, I—”
Stan glanced around, sensing something off. “Stay close,” he muttered, grabbing her hand tighter. “We’re getting outta here, now!”
Just as they reached the door, a low rumble sounded behind them. The disco ball’s remnants, still swinging from the ceiling, gave way. The whole place seemed to groan, and suddenly, the ceiling started to collapse.
“Down!” Stan shouted, covering Y/N with his body as debris rained down. When the dust settled, they were outside, both covered in dust and shaken.
Y/N looked up, her face pale. “I… I almost died.”
Stan nodded, his expression serious. “Yeah, well, someone planned this,” he said, his tone more certain than ever.
“How do you know?” Y/N asked, still catching her breath.
Stan sighed, his eyes narrowing. “I got a knack for these types of things.”
Y/N nodded, still processing. “What?”
♡♡♡
Ford wakes up, groggy and disoriented. His hand instinctively searches for his glasses on the bedside table. Finding them, he slips them on, blinking a few times to clear the blur from his vision. He takes a deep breath, steadying himself for the day ahead, before heading out of the room.
He makes his way to the kitchen, craving something to eat. The silence is unsettling—no usual clatter of morning routines or distant voices. He frowns, glancing around the empty room. With a sigh, he heads to the fridge, pulling it open casually.
A mangled sight meets his eyes—a dismembered body, its parts grotesquely scattered across the shelves. Blood seeps between the containers, pooling at the bottom. Ford's breath catches in his throat. He stumbles back, his glasses slipping down his nose.
“No. No. No. No. No,” he mutters, voice rising with each repetition. He wants to believe that this isn’t real— but the more he stares, the more vivid the horror becomes. His heart is pounding so hard he can feel it in his ears, a deafening rhythm that drowns out all other sounds. His mind starts to haze, everything around him blurring into a dizzying swirl.
His hands fly to his ears, trying to block out the noise, the sight, the entire impossible reality. Blood is dripping from the bottom of the fridge, forming a small, dark red puddle on the floor.
“Get out of my head!” he screams, eyes shut tight, trying to push away the overwhelming sense of dread and madness. His voice cracks, desperation tearing through every word.
“You first.”
End of Episode 4
I’m so sorry that this chapter is all over the place, I promise it’ll make more sense when the upcoming chapters come out!

11 days since I sent you that ask and I can now say, I get it. I get what you meant about episode 8. WE DID NOT JUST GET LUKERCY CRUMBS HOLY SHIT-
ALL OF THEIR SCENES TOGETHER WERE MAKING ME FERAL FJGKD WHICH WAS SO HARD TO KEEP IN WHILE WATCHING IT WITH MY SIS 😭😭 IT WAS SO GOOD
the training!! the entire fucking fight with luke practically begging percy to believe that he is his friend and wants him to join him!! the lighting!! just everything!!! you can soo tell luke wanted to shove percy in that portal and take him along no matter what!! (ignoring annabeths appearance cause im still on the fence with that change even if I get why they did it)
i am so going to binge read lukercy fics the entire night just to fill my rabid need for content of them after seeing that AHFJVKDKD I CANT-
You're right we didn't just get crumbs, we got a whole damn pie.
Luke not only welcoming Percy to camp but being the one to show him around, constantly by his side. Even watching him sleep from across the cabin.
The look on Percy's face when Luke tells him he's always on Annabeth's side.
Luke breaking the camp rules that two demigods (with different parents) aren't allowed to be alone in the cabins together to give Percy the shoes in his cabin (as opposed to on the hill like in the book).
Percy wanting to take Luke on the quest but being afraid that Luke would prioritize Annabeth over him.
The jealousy and disgust in Luke's voice during the Iris message when he makes the comment about "when did you two become an old married couple" and the look of equal disgust and discomfort from Percy when he says "gross let's move on from that." (paraphrasing but you get the idea)
Luke influencing Percy so much that the very first words of Percy's book ("Look, I didn't want to be a halfblood") are actually a quote from Luke.
The whole training scene.
Sword under the chin is always hot. Percy's making a face like he knows it too.
When Luke goes to sit on that rock beside Percy, he chooses a spot that lets them sit eye-to-eye but also he rocks toward Percy for a second like he's going to go in for a kiss.
Percy mirroring the head tilt that Luke (Charlie?) does.
Luke's voice full of pride when Percy does good.
Luke telling Percy he's small and scary. So fucking cute.
The way we can see via body language what book!Percy has been telling us all along: that every time Percy picks up his sword, he hears Luke's voice in his head telling him what to do.
Percy and Luke almost never take their eyes off each other for the whole secret meeting about Clarisse.
They're meeting in the woods at night. Luke didn't even have to bribe Percy this time, he just trotted after him.
Luke coaxing Percy into talking. (in the books Percy doesn't do a lot of talking out loud and Luke actually does break the ice several times because Percy is just standing there staring like a little weirdo [affectionate].).
Fireworks from beginning to end. Love the red and blue ones especially for that bisexual lighting. It was easily the best lighting in the whole show.
"Easy. I just want to show you." Everyone says that the maia scene was the hottest thing Charlie said as Luke but they're sleeping on this. Those are 'gonna take your virginity' words and his tone of voice? Mmm. Yum.
AND it's about his sword? HIS SWORD?! The most phallic weapon of all? Gods help me.
Just an interesting detail but Luke doesn't actually ever point his sword at Percy until Percy attacks him. It really shows that his plan is to convince Percy to leave with him.
"The gods are my enemy. You....." - Luke searching for what Percy is to him. lol I guess it's supposed to be a dramatic pause for dramatic effect but it really just makes it sound like Luke is debating how exactly to define their relationship.
Both of them have watery tear-filled eyes? Excuse me? Cry babies? Yes please. I told all of you so.
Also Luke is comfortable with turning his back on Percy to draw the runes (?) even though Percy drew his sword and is sweating like a sinner in church.
Luke actually proposing that they run away. Together. Just the two of them.
"We"
Percy is literally swaying on his feet. You can see that he's nervous but he also doesn't take so much as a single step backward. He still wants to be close to Luke!
Luke's determination to bring Percy with him. During their fight he does his best to keep Percy between himself and the portal. He even tosses Percy towards it a couple of times. Luke wants Percy to run away with him voluntarily but you can see as the fight goes on longer, he decides kidnapping is an option.
Luke is not leaving without his boy.
The skill difference between Percy and Luke. We see this during training too, where Luke is tossing Percy around and basically playing with him (I mean it's serious training but Luke's skill level is so above that it looks like playing). Luke is not seriously fighting Percy. He's trying to herd Percy into that portal.
Luke praising Percy in the middle of their fight.
Percy cutting Luke.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to -" Because Percy really doesn't want to hurt Luke and he's never like actually hurt someone he cares about.
Luke cutting Percy.
Looming.
The way after Annabeth shows up, Luke's eyes flit down to Percy three separate times. You can visibly see him weighing his options. I think he was debating if he could sling Percy over his shoulder and run into the portal faster than Annabeth could catch them.
"I know Luke wasn't trying to kill me." - WOW what a change from the book. I can't believe they had Percy understand that because in the pit scorpion scene, he did not get it. I'm happy about the change but surprised they made it. (makes me wonder if Percy's the one who's loyalty we're supposed to question instead of Annabeth's as the next seasons come up).
Sorry that was long but like. Wow. We won hardcore.
As for reading more lukercy fic, you'll be pleased to know that it's the lukercy valentine's event this week (02/12-02-15) so there should be ✨ new fics. ✨

Tumblr media
Safe With Him | Miguel O'Hara x Young Teen!Spider!Reader (Platonic)
Tumblr media
Warnings- none
Summary- Miguel is a father figure to you! You had a lash out episode and Miguel cuddled with you while calming down.
Side note- Ommggg literally thank youuuu soo sooo much 😭🫶! Also not proofread cuz I'm lazy 💪
Miguel is like a father to you. He'd treat you like his own daughter. However in the past two weeks Miguel noticed that you've looked super stressed out, sometimes having lash out episodes.
You couldn’t even focus when training. Until he saw you having an episode. "Hey, calm down.." he said in a concerned tone. Miguel has never seen me actually have an episode. It was the others that would see me, they would tell him.
I ignored him, still being mad at was upsetting me.
Miguel was concerned, "Hey, come sit down." He tried to get me to calm down and to sit down.
I was so mad in the moment that I didn't even hear him.
Miguel grabbed my shoulders and got me to face him. Miguel had a stern expression on. He said in a stern tone, "Hey, calm down. Stop being so hard on yourself. Look at me."I shook my head no, not making eye contact, my nostrils were flared.
Miguel was getting even more concerned with me. He’s never seen me like this. Miguel's tone turned from stern, to more of a concerned and worried tone. He said, "Hey, please. Look at me." I could tell he was worried for me, and wanted to help me. I looked at him. He could still see that I was clearly mad but not as much anymore. Miguel saw my eyes were full of sadness
Miguel felt a little better, with knowing I wasn't as mad as before. He could tell that I looked sad. Miguel said to me, "Please come sit down. I don't like seeing you like this." He really didn't like seeing me upset, and I could tell. He didn't want me to look sad, and to be upset. He said to me, "Please come sit down. I don't like seeing you like this." I started to move toward him, so I can sit down and talk to Miguel.
Sitting down with Miguel, Miguel looks at me with a concerned face. He says to me, "What's going on? You've looked stressed these past two weeks."
He noticed that I stayed silent, and that there's something wrong. With how I was acting.
"Please tell me. I want to help with whatever is wrong."
I shook my head no.
Miguel didn't want to push me to talk, if I didn't want to. He didn't want to make me upset again. My episodes were happening too often , he didn't want me to have another one. Miguel's first priority was making sure I was okay.
He moved some my hair strands from my face.
He told me, in a quiet but sweet tone, "It's okay. I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you."
I broke down crying hugged him.
Crying, I hugged him tightly. My episodes didn't bother Miguel, even though he didn’t understand what I was going through right now. He hugged me back tightly, telling me, "It's okay. You're safe with me."
Miguel kept me in a tight hug. He was so comforting and caring. He said in an understanding tone, "I don't mind at all. You're safe with me. Let it out. I promise that I won't leave. "
After a few minutes you could hear my sniffles I looked exhausted.
Miguel didn't try to make me talk. He let me be if I didn't want to. He still was hugging me, and now I was calm.
He noticed how exhausted I was, as he could hear me sniffling. He still kept me in a tight hug, comforting me. He suggested to go to a extra bedroom and get some rest. Telling how exhausted I was after my episode.
Miguel walked me to the room.
"Rest for now. I'll come check up on you after I finish some stuff." He wanted to make sure I get some rest after everything that happened.
I grabbed his arm, "Can you stay with me.." I said in a quiet voice.
Miguel stopped and turned to look down at me. He heard what I said. He knew how drained I was. Miguel was glad that I asked him that.
Miguel said in a loving tone, "Of course I can."
He was glad that I asked him to stay with me, even if I didn't tell him what was wrong with me.
Miguel walked me inside the room, and sat down next to me. Miguel wrapped his arms around me, and stayed with me.
With me being in Miguel arms, I felt at ease, and at peace.
I felt Safe With Him.

Oh my god. I'm gonna rant. OK. So previously I was ranting about this to some people on discord (I sent the same rant to three different servers, it's your guys' turn)
So basically, in one of the various licensed Pucca games, there's a cutscene that reveals that Tobe killed Garu's father while Garu watched. However, this makes absolutely no sense given their canon ages and overall dynamic.
Tumblr media
Below is the big rant, prepare for me to speak absolute nonsense.
So according to the Pucca YouTube channel, Tobe is 16 and Garu is 12.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the cutscene, the VERY oldest Garu could be is about 6 or 7. Which would make Tobe about 10. I personally don't believe that bro would be doing allat at 10 years old given the fact he's regularly represented as utterly useless on his own (at least compared to Pucca and Garu combined, which is admittedly like comparing a housecat to a tiger). Assuming they're a little older than my prediction, placing the cutscene a little bit before the show, that would make it a little more plausable with Tobe being in his earlier teens (but honestly not by much).
But considering the Pucca lore is so generally fucked up due to the amount of retcons (Pucca being listed as 10 before being changed to 11 later on being a good example), let's assume that Tobe is at least a little bit younger than Garu's dad and Garu is a small child. Everything makes sense considering the timeline now, but that would leave their dynamic.
Their overall dynamic is the key reason this cutscene makes no fucking sense whatsoever and I personally choose to ignore it.
So, Tobe and Garu are more like frenemies than anything. For one, the only real reason that Garu seems to engage with Tobe's very non-specific "vengance" is his own ego. (In season one and two of the show, at least) it's evident that Garu fights Tobe half because of his friends and family and half out of spite.
Like, Garu just can't let him win. In the episode The Sooga Showdown (season 1 episode 19) where they all have to race around Sooga with one of Master Soo's ladies, we're given a good example of how much their rivalry is just one big dick measuring contest.
Tumblr media
Secondly, that nonspecific "vengance" Tobe wants seems more like Tobe was wronged. Which could just be his goofy ass POV of how things went, but that's sort of reaching given all the information we have.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY;
In addition to all this, they are really just rivals. Like, when they aren't blinded by their little rivalry, they're shown to actually like each other's company. They don't seem to mind each other when they're forced to not be physically violent. If it wasn't for their egos, they'd probably be friends, probably have some sort of brotherly friendship. But they're both just little dillholes who can't take someone being better than them.
It's also important to note their rivalri is also toned down in season 3 for the point where Garu just seems to want to protect his friends and family, and Tobe just wants to beat his ass for no reason and make him miserable. There's not really any given reason for either of their behaviors because season 3 doesn't have much lore aside from the whole thing where Dandy is delulu about the Goh-Rong's """secret to martial arts""" and the stupid ass Dong King shit.
TL;DR
Tobe didn't kill Garu's dad, if he did their relationship would be much more volatile.
If anyone would like to prove me wrong, I would love to have such a conversation. I generally don't know ALL of the lore and don't trust the wiki for shit, so yeah.
I would also like to add that the yt channel can't really be trusted with any lore video posted within the past 4 or 5 months as of July 2024 since that channel is legitimately crumbling into dust. Some of the facts they give are a little cute, but for the bigger stuff I'd take it with a grain of salt unless it was stated somewhere before (like THIS video)
Tumblr media
I'm so done with this channel istg🌚

DUDEEEE HELLO??:!:!::&: PLEASE I LOVE YOU, YOUR WONDERFUL BRAIN N UR RESPONSES???!! like sometimes i think damn my thoughts r sooooo filthy i wonder if anyone would even feel the same like am i crazy :-///.... THEN UR REPLIES JUST FUELS ME EVEN MORE ARGHRHHHHH LIKE??? im so glad we have the same brain like damn... i love talking abt him hehe rly.. thank u for entertaining my thoughts n making it even more amazing <333 also i hope u are feeling better now!!! 🫂🫂 tbh i feel the same bc the idea of aaron has made me feel better so many times n it's years since i started liking him :-(((( fr i never ever regret starting this show n falling in love w him 😭😭😭
"imagine just sitting there with him fully inside you, tie in your mouth, head on his broad shoulder, one of his big warm hands occasionally rubbing up and down your back as you hear the other write away" ‼️‼️‼️ PLEASEEEE omfg he'd feel so good and he'd make you feel sooooo safe 😭😭😭 i need this so badly . being on his lap would literally make all the painful noisy thoughts in your head go silent because all you can think about and feel is him <3333 though i don't know how i'd be able actually to be quiet n not be reduced into a whimpering mess because GODDDDDD HE'S JUST SOOOO..... my god. if u do turn this into a fic i'd probably be reading it 9784953 times n manifesting it to appear in my dreams 🙏🙏
and OOOOOFFFFFFFFF cannot decide if i would want him to make a mess all over me and use his thick fingers to scoop it up and shove it into my mouth or have him cum deep in my throat ! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 like man.... the idea of messy wet sex drives me insane like having him a panting sweaty mess 🧎‍♂️🧎‍♂️ n downright filthy cum eating . like my thoughts abt it are ENDLESS n its literally a can of worms im afraid of opening-- AWOEKFJFKEKD thinking abt that episode when aaron jumps into a lake to chase an unsub n he comes out of the water all WET N THE WATER DRIPPING DOWN HIS SKIN??? I CANT REMEMBER WHAT EPISODE IT IS BUT I THINK U KNKW WHAT IM REFERRING TO???
omfggggg when he's ruthlessly riding you and jerking himself off, his chest would get soooo red and it'll feel soo nice to run your fingers down his body and literally worship every inch of him 😵‍💫 he'd look soooo pretty with little marks over his chest as you shower him with praises... thinking about praising aaron HEEEEHEHEH he'd get sooo shy n flustered the first few times but slowly he'd get used to it and literally bask in the attention n praises 😭😭
my god n i must say u rly perfected his voice n what he would say......i swear my love for aaron not only solidified my kink for suits but also... voice 😵‍💫😵‍💫🧎‍♂️🧎‍♂️🧎‍♂️ like it makes me think how he'd react the first time when he realised how much power he has over you just from his voice and words alone.... like first he'd be confused why your reaction sometimes gets a lil funny but then his expression darkens when finally he realises. but he likes building up material to tease you later on so he doesn't really point it out at first but just has an amused smile.
then imagine one night being on a phone call with him as he just talks about his day and that it's pretty late at night so his voice starts getting huskier bc he's tired.... and he's just rambling about something unrelated but you feel the heat crawling up your neck because he just sounds so good . you can't help but clench your thighs and swallow your saliva. then he asks you a question but you're SO distracted that you miss it and when you finally answer him, your voice shakes. he goes silent before breaking into a low laugh because he recognises that tone of voice and picks up your breathing. "oh my, baby... i don't even need to see your face to know what's up. here am i trying to tell you about my day... but you just can't help yourself, hm? ...pathetic."
YEAHHHHHH 😭😭😭😭
- 🤲
AHHHHHHHHHH SDJFHSJDF THANK YOU hehehehehe n YEAH I GETCHA, I BE THINKING "oh GOD what if what i say is too weird???" n then you get back to me with basically the SAME THING AHHHHH i'm sooo happy we be thinking the same thoughts LMAO. and thank you sm <33
YESSSSS HE'D MAKE YOU FEEL SO SAFE FR <333 i wanna sit on his lap soooo so so much, god it'd be so good. i would love to write it as a fic tbh but i just have sooooo much to work on already UGHHH why is writing so hard and time-consumingggggg
REALLLLL I WANT BOTH !!! n oPEN THAT CAN OF WORMS RN CUM EATING IS SOOOOOOOO HOT I SWEAR DDSKFSK AHHHHH AND YES YES YE S I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT SCENE YOU'RE REFERENCING
Tumblr media
OUGHHH HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL FUCKKK
yessss he'd looook so pretty riding youuu <33 all red and sweaty and a whimpering panting mess oughhh i love it i love him sm n yessssss i wanna praise him sooo bad. like if you praised him he just WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO but then as he gets used to it, he loooooves it and craves it ough
hehe thank you!! N YEAH VOICE KINK AND SUIT KINK GO BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 🤭🤭 he'd get sooooo cocky knowing he has sm control over you oughhh and he'd be so proud of himself knowing he can get you to do almost anything with just his voice n pretty face
STOPPPP I'VE HAD THE EXACT SAME IDEA AND STARTED IT AS A FIC ONCE BUT NEVER GOT AROUND TO IT KSDFJK i loooooooove the idea of calling him on a case and he's just like. tired but tryna talk n his voice is sooooo deep and gravelly and it sounds so hot (bc sleepy/morning voices might be one of the best things in existence <33) and he notices you trailing off your sentences and stuttering a bit and going quiet and he just KNOWS what he's doing to you and he teases you relentlessly <33 he'd either get you all hot and bothered n then tell you that you gotta be patient and wait til he gets home orrrrrr he'll go "do you think you can show me how much of an effect i have on you, sweetheart?" and when you send him a pic he'd hum in appreciation and tell you how pretty/handsome you are and how he's gonna make you feel real good when he gets home but for now he's gonna talk you through making yourself feel good <33 maybe you can hear him letting out cute lil moans as he tells you how he wants you to touch yourself and your stomach drops when you realise he's getting off on it too and you ask him to send a pic of himself and he does and he looks sooooo good <33
also i gotta ask,,, how do you feel about daddy kinks LMAOOO bc i haven't thought about it much relating to aaron lately tbh but when i first got into him two years ago, all i could think was him saying stuff like "let daddy make you feel good, hm?" or "you wanna touch daddy?" n stuff like that,, are you into that?? i'm leaning more toward softer aaron n bottom aaron lately but godddd soft daddy dom aaron is soooooooo <333

I didn't want to make it very long and drag out the scene for this, or to make light of it. I wanted to treat everything that happens to Felix in this as delicately and gently as I can. I hope you guys are enjoying this lil series of mine, and I can't wait for ya'll to read the next few parts! 💗

Thankfully, the campus was pretty dead and deserted on the weekends, since everyone was sprawled out across the place or getting lost somewhere in the city.
Minho did run into a few of his classmates in the practice hall while he worked over that weekend, but since there were a handful of rooms for each class year, he didn’t have too much trouble finding time to himself.
So that’s how he spent his entire weekend, sweating off all of his problems and shoving down all of his feelings with gallons of water. By the time Sunday night rolled around, he was completely exhausted. His legs felt like jelly and his arms trembled each time he tried to do that certain part of their routine that he was having so much difficulty with.
He had started getting a headache earlier in the afternoon — probably from all of the stress of classes — so he had turned off the studio lights. With it being so late at night on a random Sunday, everyone had gone home and he was the only one left in the Technical Dance Studio building.
The waning crescent moon shone outside the studio window like a toenail, offering enough light on the hardwood floors for Minho to see his steps and what he was messing up. Besides, he had an unusually exceptional vision in the dark, so if having the lights off helped his head, he was able to put up with it.
“Fuck— why can’t I get this right?!” He exclaimed in a frustrated tone, stopping his movements and staring at himself in the mirror. His shoulders heaved with each breath he took, with his entire upper half drenched in sweat. The white t-shirt that he always wore for luck to practice was completely see-through from how much he had been dancing.
Silence ensued across the practice room, as Minho blew out a few deep breaths to regulate his racing heart. The dark shadows curled around the corners of the wooden floors, making the place seem eery in a calming kind of way.
“You shouldn’t push yourself so much.”
Just like that, his body was completely freezing up. Pulling taught like a bowstring, he could feel his entire spine going rigid and pin-straight. In the reflection of the mirror, his eyes searched the darkness behind him.
There, he found the source of the voice.
  A soft, light, familiar tone.
In the shadows, it was hard to make him out entirely, but the blonde locks that were slightly messy were unmistakable.
Minho yanked his eyes away from the reflection as Felix neared the moonlight slowly. “What are you doing here?” He asked, reaching down to the ground and grabbing his towel to wipe off the sweat that was dripping down his forehead. “I thought you never wanted to see me again.”
Felix was quiet for a few beats after that- like he was calculating and deciding his next words. Then, “I never fucking said that… I just meant that I—”
Dropping the towel back on top of his bag, Minho turned around to face Felix. “That, what? You’ll always hate my guts and I’m a horrible person? Trust me, you don’t have to tell me twice, I already fucking know.” He ground out, giving Felix a deadpan stare without any bit of mirth.
But he was trying to put up a front. Because inside, the concern was burning him up. Eating him alive, from how thin Felix looked since the last time he had truly seen him at the party a few weeks before.
Almost like… he hadn't been eating.
His clothes weren’t as put together as Minho was used to seeing him wear around campus. His dark blue hoodie and matching sweatpants hung off his limbs like if the autumn wind blew hard enough, they’d rip right off.
Felix shoved his hands into his pockets roughly, finally meeting Minho’s gaze. The pain Minho saw there, the disheveled hair and the wrinkly eyebrows, Minho didn’t know how to process it all. “I’ve never hated you, Minho.” He said, a little quieter than before. “I don’t know how I ever could.”
“Well, you should. Because I’m a horrible person.”
“Don’t say that, you’re not. If anything, I’m the shitty one here— I fucking invited you to that stupid party when I knew how it would be and I don’t know why I thought it’d be a good place to—”
Minho canted his head to the side just a tiny bit, leaning his back against the mirror behind him. In the moonlight, Felix’s blonde tresses shone like spun golden starlight. “You don’t have to explain yourself. I shouldn’t have gone in the first place, it was a bad decision and I should’ve listened to Chris.”
Felix’s eyes darkened a little bit at the mention of his older brother like he had some personal vendetta against him. “Why, because my brother said I’m a bad boy these days and my choice of friends are shit?”
Shrugging slowly, Minho’s eyes scanned down the expanse of Felix once more. And he could feel the younger’s eyes tracking him, as Felix subtly shifted his stance so that his shoulder was leaning against the wall right beside the floor-length window. Like he was self-conscious and he didn’t want Minho to study him too well.
“No, Chris never said anything like that. He just— didn’t think it was a good idea, with the opposite grade years and stuff. Maturity-wise, I guess.” Minho’s voice had grown a little quieter in the silence of the practice room, watching as his words changed the emotions displayed on Felix’s face. They went from anger to sadness, to defeat rather quickly.
Felix hit the side of his head rather roughly with a fist, “I’m so fucking stupid— I just wanted to— I just wanted to be with you. And I couldn’t even do that right because I can’t do anything right and—”
“Felix, hey— stop. It’s okay, you’re not stupid. It’s not a big deal so don’t worry about it,” Minho said, waving a hand in the air to try and dismiss some of the tension in the room. But he was lying right through his teeth. Because the things that had happened that night at the party still stuck with him, even weeks later. “I’m over it, so it’s fine.”
By then, Felix was covering his face with his hands, sighing so deeply into them that his fragile shoulders were shaking incrementally. “But I’m not! I fucked up like I always do! I ruined everything and I know that you hate me— and that you’re lying!” His outburst forced Minho to freeze in his place, waiting for him to continue. And then Felix was pulling his hands away from his face and Minho watched as the rivers started running down his cheeks. “I just— I really missed you and I—”
Minho didn’t afford him any more words. He was crossing the small expanse between them and enveloping Felix in a hug before anything else could happen. It was muscle memory, truly. He didn't think about anything else at that moment - about himself or his own emotions. And instead, all that rang out in his brain was: comfort him, comfort him, comfort him.
It was their first hug since Felix had started at the university. He felt so light and fragile in Minho’s grasp, and he made careful work of wrapping his arms around Felix’s waist. Slowly, he brought a hand up to Felix’s neck, stroking the back of his head in a soothing motion.
“It’s okay, Lixie. I’m not upset, really,” Minho said, completely being truthful. Because how could he be any more upset than Felix was? How could he continue to be, when Felix was breaking down in his arms? Felix’s shaking hands clawed at his sweaty back, small fingers gripping the damp fabric there. “Please, don’t cry. I hate seeing you cry.”
Those were the same words he had told Felix the day he broke the news that he was moving away from their small hometown in Busan to university hours away in Seoul. He always remembered that day, like it had only happened recently.
He remembered the look on Felix’s face, happiness shattering completely and the tears already clouding the corners of his eyes.
Fourteen-year-old Felix was a sight to behold, with his midnight-black locks and rosy cheeks.
Even still, eighteen-year-old Minho watched Felix’s heart break that day, as he reached forward to him and desperately grabbed for Minho’s waist. He remembered the ear-piercing wailing, the shaking from Felix that day. The way he couldn't stop crying or beating at Minho's chest. Just begging him not to go- begging him to say sike and stay with him there.
And the way that Felix was holding onto him in the practice room, it felt like that day to Minho all over again. But not as loud and not as open. Like… Felix was holding himself back.
Felix was muttering something into the crook of Minho’s neck, over and over again between his tears. His shaking overtook Minho’s entire body, making it hard to breathe from how badly his heart was breaking. He just wanted Felix to be okay, no matter what. That’s all he had ever wanted.
With gentle hands, he hoisted Felix up onto the windowsill that was just behind him. The small alcove afforded enough room for Felix to perch on it easily, and with the added leverage, Minho was slowly able to start pulling him away from his form to talk.
But the moment he grasped onto Felix's wrists to peel him away from his body, the younger man flinched unmistakably, yanking his arms out of Minho’s reach.
Minho could feel the blood in his system grow cold instantly. Running chilled in his veins, his heart slowed down inside his chest. Beating weakly against his ribcage, Minho’s lips were moving before he could even process the words. “Did someone hurt you, Felix?”
Through his tears, the younger man had the sense to shake his head in a reply. But the way he was cradling his arms told Minho something a lot different. With slow movements, like a hunter not wanting to scare away a deer, Minho took hold of Felix’s wrists again.
He brought them close to him once more. Felix was completely frozen in front of him, spine rigid as a board, eyes screwed shut as the tears raced down his freckled cheeks in silent despair. “Please— d-don’t—” He begged, tone breaking and cracking like a shattered piece of glass, the desperation so palpable, Minho could taste it on his tongue.
But the pleas were completely irrelevant, both of them knew. Minho was going to, anyway. Like he had always done in the past.
Then, he found himself pushing up the thick sleeves of Felix’s hoodie, all the way up to his elbows. The darkness of the room made everything go incredibly quiet and hushed, but the moonlight afforded enough light for Minho to decipher the redness and fresh lines there, imprinted into Felix’s normally milky-smooth skin.
  “How long?”
Is all he asked, focus still on Felix’s arms and on the way he had been hurting so much without Minho even knowing. Without anyone knowing, like always.
“I-It doesn’t matter, I’m going to stop.” Felix shook in his arms, and Minho slowly covered up his arms again with his sleeves.
“It does matter though, Felix. You always matter.” Minho spoke softly so that only Felix was able to hear his words. And no one else, ever.
Felix wiped away his tears, the tip of his nose red from crying so much and his cheeks still wet. “Since the party, I guess… I just couldn’t—”
Minho could feel his heart break even more at the confession. Since the party. Since everything had blown up in their faces and Minho had ruined it all. “I’m sorry— I never meant to hurt you like this…” He whispered, bringing Felix closer to him again and squeezing his sides in a hug.
“It’s not your fault. It’s no one's fault, Min. It’s my stupid issues… after everything, it’s how I cope sometimes.” Felix said, nuzzling his head into Minho’s shoulder like a kitten seeking attention from its owner.
Moving his head to the side, Minho closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of Felix. Of his floral perfume and the hidden smoke of weed and the fruitiness of his shampoo. His lips hovered over Felix’s head, not touching, but not backing away either. Yet he couldn’t force himself to kiss his head, either. There was still so much time lost and feelings unknown that was stopping Minho from doing anything else than giving comfort just then.
“I guess, I assumed because you’ve changed so much since our childhood, you’ve worked through everything,” Minho started, sighing against Felix in defeat. But that notion was flawed, to begin with. Because the fact that Felix was so changed didn’t necessarily signal a good thing. “That’s a stupid thought, I know. I shouldn’t have assumed it.”
Pulling away from Minho again, Felix stared up at him with gaping, wide eyes that were puffy from crying so much. He bit down on his lips, focus going everywhere in the room except Minho. “Yeah, I— high school was a lot, when you guys left. But I don’t really… wanna talk about it.” Then Felix’s eyes were landing back on Minho’s.
When their gazes met once more, Minho caught the bit of hurt that Felix tried to hide away. It was tiny and waning, but he still noticed the dim light nonetheless. He had noticed it the first time they had met in the campus gardens, and again at the party. It was so small and sheltered, that anyone else would have never even caught a glimpse of it.
But Minho did, like Minho always did when it came to Felix. Just like every time he knew when Felix had turned to harming again during their childhood. He could read it on his face, on the way he carried himself. They were two depressed boys who sought refuge in each other for a time. And it seemed like even into adulthood, they were still two depressed boys seeking out one another in their lowest moments.
Lee Minho was not stupid. He could read people similarly to how Hyunjin could.  He knew when something was amiss, and when someone was hiding things from their past.
He knew that Felix was doing that exact thing. But Minho had yet to figure out what exactly he was hiding. Felix put on a good show — wore a pretty, popular mask — but Minho had a sneaky suspicion that underneath all of the smiles, glitter, and sex, there was a lot of darkness and scars.
“You don’t have to tell me anything, ever. I just want to know that you’re okay and safe and that you’ll work on stopping again.” Minho said, motioning with his head down to Felix’s arms again. He had seen him do it before — fall into bouts of depression and turn to cutting, but then pull himself up with the help of Minho. “If you ever need to talk, ever need to distract yourself from it, you tell me, okay?”
Felix was shaking his head in agreement, blinking back the last bit of his tears and tucking a few messy strands of his hair behind his ear. “You… don’t have my phone number though. So how can I—”
Minho waved his words away with a nonchalant hand, “It’s still the same one ending in 0325, right?”
  “Uhm… yeah?”
  “Then I have it.”
At that, Felix’s body froze again. Eyebrows rising in surprise and pupils sparkling just a tad bit, he couldn’t help but crack a tiny smile. “You mean you saved my contact from all those years ago?”
Minho didn’t know how to reply to that. Should he tell Felix how he felt, after all of the years that had passed? Or should he wait for things to happen naturally and let everything slide into place, however that happened? He decided on the latter, at that moment. “Yeah, I figured I’d run into you at some point since you’re my best friend’s little brother.”
Felix glared his way, rolling his eyes just a tiny bit in exasperation. “Don’t fucking remind me.”
Chris was an amazing brother to Felix, but Minho knew how rocky their relationship was at times. Chris knew a small bit about Felix’s struggles with depression and anxiety growing up, but he had no idea about the cutting. The first time Minho found out about it when they were in high school, Felix had begged on his hands and knees, face wet with tears and snot, for Minho not to tell Chris.
And ever since then, Minho had kept to his promise. So Felix never had to worry about Minho tattling, since he was a man of his word.
“But, it’s really late now. You’ve been practicing all day and you’re exhausted so I should let you go…” Felix’s voice drifted off into the hushed space between them, pulling Minho out of his thoughts.
  “I’m not exhausted.”
Reaching out, one of Felix’s hands ran up the length of Minho’s damp bicep. Tracing across his shoulder and brushing against the back of his neck, Felix stared up at Minho with slightly hooded eyes. “Then why are you shaking so much?” In the darkness of the room, the shadows seemed to dance underneath his eyes, curling around his face and making his bleached-blonde hair look smokier.
Taking in a deep breath, Minho held it in his chest, watching the way that Felix’s eyes ran over the length of his face. He could feel his fingers moving behind his neck, brushing against the nape there before going into his hair and combing through Minho’s locks slowly.
“You and I both know nothing can happen, Felix. It never can, not again.” He decided to not answer Felix’s question but instead lay down the boundary line of what they were. He was saying, in a masked, gentler kind of way, that they could only just be friends.
Felix’s fingers froze in his hair, and Minho watched as the look on his face melted into a puddle of sadness. The disappointment flashed in his eyes just as his shoulders slumped a little bit in defeat. “Why… because you think I’m too far gone these days?”
“No, it’s not that,” Minho started, but couldn’t find the right words with Felix still touching his bare skin. So he reached behind his neck and grabbed his hand. Taking it into his own, he squeezed Felix’s fingers lightly. “I just— I think we both need time to process everything. We’ve been through a lot in the past few years and we both need healing from it all.”
“But we can help each other. We can heal together."
“Not in the way you think, Lixie.”
At that, Felix was gradually pulling his hand out of Minho’s grasp. “I’m sorry… It’s getting late, we should both head home.” And just like that, the atmosphere was changing again. Minho could sense Felix shutting himself in again, hollowing out his shell and hiding once more. He stared up at Minho, offering him a bright smile. But the older man knew that it held little mirth beneath it. “Besides, you probably have to practice again tomorrow, so you should let your body rest.”
Then Felix was moving away from Minho’s presence entirely, slinking towards the studio’s doors. The soft, calming energy surrounding them snapped like a rubber band in an instant. Minho could hear his heart beating in his ears, his blood thrumming through his veins with fiery-white heat. “Please don’t be upset, Felix. It’s for the best, trust me.” He said, trailing after Felix as he quickly grabbed his things from the floor and slipped through the front door.
“I’m not upset, I promise,” Felix said, turning to him and reaching out to squeeze Minho’s hand comfortingly. “Besides, now I know your phone number is still the same from our high school days. So I can text you to hang out whenever I want. As friends.”
Then he was pulling away from Minho’s side entirely, turning in the direction of the freshman’s dormitory which was on the other side of the campus.
“Call me, please. I’ll always pick up and I’ll always text.” Minho shouted in the wake of Felix leaving him. The younger man turned around after that and flashed him a thumbs-up with a bright smile. “Text me when you get home safely!”
Minho watched the entire time, as Felix slinked into the foggy night ahead. The chilled air bit at Minho’s sweat-slick skin, but he stood there until he could no longer decipher Felix’s blonde locks from the golden leaves around campus.
And as he turned around and made his way home, he had the distinct feeling that he had royally fucked up. Even though he had put down a boundary, and spoke his mind about what he wanted in that moment, he was quickly realizing that Felix possibly wanted something entirely different.
But Minho would rather sweep everything under the rug — as in, their true feelings for each other — instead of deal with the problems at hand. That was his specialty.
It’s just too bad that Felix wanted the exact opposite of that.
And it was too bad that they were too far apart in age and maturity and… their journeys in life, to ever come together again.
To be back in the same place that they shared during childhood, which was suspended in time. But there was no turning back the clock, so Minho thought there was no use in pondering over it any further.

okay acolyte fans how we feeling i’m going to put spoilers under the cut
you KNOW i’ve been a toothy villain fan since day one and i really fucked with this episode oh my god the fight sequences in this show have been my favorite part
I have to admit i knew it was Qimir, i didn’t wannnt it to be Qimir but he grew on me in the episode.. like okay hottie i see you please wear more sleeveless shirts in the future
LMFAO BESIDES THE FACT THAT I THINK HES ATTRACTIVE i dig his vibe soo much the fighting style is so aggressive and he says weird shit? exactly my type
i hope he survives a few more episodes but i REALLY likes this one, i was honestly expecting tbb to end in a massacre so getting one is this show felt good, i was worried they’d follow in tbbs footsteps and slam him in one episode but NO! My man came ready to kill jedi and kill jedi he did. It was so disrespectful too, that man wasn’t dueling he was straight up slaughtering them 😭
POOR Jecki though i am devastated!!. She stood her own so well against the both of them and i’m so sad to see her go, Yord too, i know i said i loved the episode but that doesn’t mean i can’t also be sad about them killing off the entire cast lmfao. In my opinion it was a great choice but a very tough choice nonetheless, and i’m interested to see where the show goes now that the cast has been reduced so severely
Also Sol going for the beheading was such a cold scene, you could really feel the anger, i may or may not have yelled DO IT at my screen
there are two wolves inside me, one really likes Qimir and one really likes Sol
i really am rambling but i loved this episode, I’ve been enjoying the shows tone, i think the only part i haven’t really liked is Mae, i don’t quite understand her motivations yet and her flip flopping every episode is sorta losing me but it don’t matter because Qimir is cool as fuck and expect art of him..
and i feel like i need to add a disclaimer down here even tho i haven’t seen too many haters on tumblr, my page won’t tolerate hate towards the show, we are here to chat about what we enjoy, i know i mentioned my dislikes very briefly but that isn’t an excuse to comment negatively abt the show, this is a positive place 🫵

I LOVE Eremika! But it does have its flaws.
I may not be the only Eremika shipper who still sees the slight problems about either their relationship or story around them in general, but I’m going to talk about it anyway.
(Warning! Slight spoilers for my friend)
There are two main problems people have with this ship - Eren barely showing signs that he loves Mikasa romantically and Mikasa’s love for Eren coming off as obsessive.
Yes, Eren may have shown less interest in Mikasa in the beginning but hey, he was still only a teen focussing heavily on his goals. At least starting in season 2, he stopped yelling at her whenever she tried to care for him, that’s a start. I’ll agree there should’ve been more signals that he grew some feelings for her overtime; especially before all the season 4 crap or maybe not go down that ‘evil’ path at all if you ask me.
As for Mikasa, *sigh* she had so much more potential to be MORE than just her love for Eren. Like, she’s already shown to be strong next to Levi, and some extra interactions with the other characters would’ve been nice as well (a lot of them were cut from the manga for the anime). I’d tone her obsession down a bit and maybe give her an actual goal in her life other than protect Eren, but still have those moments where she chats to him about their said futures.
One more thing: I think the biggest flaw that sets a lot of people off was they were first introduced living in the same house. This gave off that they were siblings at first, and that leaves a weird taste in my mouth if that makes sense. Why didn’t they just gradually reveal in the first episode that she’s not related to the Jaeger’s, like saying her last name or bringing up what happened that night at the cabin. Anything to make it more clear for the audience.
After all that, why do I still ship them? That’s the keyword: potential. Plus the brief moments they did had together before S4 really tug at my heartstrings, if only we could’ve seen that more along with a more believable transition of their romantic feelings for one another (mainly on Eren’s part). I love them a lot, but it’s wrong to ignore the flaws with their story and I’ll never tire of saying they deserved soo much better than what their story gave. 🗝🧣
(hopefully we can agree that S4 ruined them)

Your fic has taken over my brain, so I decided to list everything I love about it!
First, and most importantly, the characterization. You’ve captured each character’s essence in dialogue and description. Everyone behaves naturally, as they would in the show, and makes independent choices (ie Soos and Melody starting an anime club with McGucket, and Pacific working to support her alpacas). No matter how small a role they play, everyone has their own emotional conflict. This makes every character feel like a real person who exists outside of the main POV.
Second, the tone. It balances absurd humor and seriousness perfectly. I’ve experienced emotional whiplash multiple times (in a good way!). Plus, I love the scene breaks for flashbacks and time skips; they make it feel like I’m watching an actual episode of Gravity Falls!
Third, everything is set up well in advance. When revelations unfold, they feel connected to previous events. Nothing comes out of the blue, and every detail is important! I can connect the dots and theorize about each clue that comes up. And when something appears multiple times, I can be sure that a Chekhov’s Gun is in the works.
Next on the list is relationships: characters have dynamic interactions with each other, and everything is loaded with subtext. It’s fun to theorize about where things will go next. Because the characterizations are spot-on, every person sees things a little differently, and it shows in their interactions. Bill, especially, has an alien worldview, and his relationships with others are fascinating!
This leads to your portrayal of Bill and his development. I could write a whole essay about this specifically! Bill is a study in dichotomy: he can act as both a flat, two-dimensional villain and a tragic character. The way you write him captures all of this. He is infuriating and hilarious, sinister and pitiful, evil and sympathetic. His intelligence and ego are beautifully contrasted by his sheer stupidity.
Bill starts as such an awful person, and your fic reflects this. His development is slow, but interwoven with hints of positive change. The latest chapter shows he’s growing to appreciate Mabel and her kindness. I can see how eventually, he grows to become a better person.
Man, I wish this was an actual English assignment. I could write about this for hours! Anyways, thanks so much for pouring your heart into this fic. It’s truly amazing, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!
holy shit 😭😭😭 Thank you so MUCH!! This means so much to me to hear. I wish I could think of more to say but it would probably be a whole page of heart emojis lmao. This is gonna fuel my writing for the rest of the day
(Credit where credit's due: Soos, Melody, and Fiddleford's anime club is @astro-b-o-y-d's idea, and I loved it so much I DMed him like "this is brilliant, could I use it too plz?" Because I thought the same thing, yeah that's absolutely something they would do together off screen.)

I just finished watching all the available episodes of The Apothecary Diaries, and I have to say that it surprised me!
The premise of an apothecary working for the emperor's consorts and solving medical mysteries is already a gun one, but the execution really elevated the concept past entertaining romcom to genuinely fantastic storytelling. It's not revolutionary, but it's certainly deeply endearing, and I really enjoyed how it found a balance between lighthearted comedy and acknowledging the awful aspects of sex work and being a woman/lower class in a world where neither are valued. It doesn't explore the darker side in detail, at least not so far, but it still does a fantastic job in making the horrible parts feel like a real part of the setting while still making the choice to focus on the women's joy even when faced with hard situations. I guess I just appreciate these things being openly discussed without immediately having it be a psychological story about dealing with trauma?
The characters are also soo good, and while most lack depth (its been nine episodes, so for a cast this big, that can be excused), usually their schtick is strong enough that it can easily carry their appearances. You also get the sense that while a lot of these characters do fill out comedic roles/archetypes, there's a lot more going on beneath the surface. Their schtick is fun, but its not all they have, its just there to help the audience familiarize themselves and bond with the charcaters while their entire personality is unearthed. The entire cast is genuinely absolutely delightful and reasonable and feel incredibly real while also being really funny.
The romance portion is also really really fantastic. Both Maomao and Jinshi are hilarious little freaks, and their dynamic is so fun to watch. Maomao is such a good take on the cold, blunt, genius character, who is socially challenged but very far from frigid. She's practical and logical while also keeping a very strong emotional core founded in empathy and genuine care for the people around her. Her obsession with poison is also pulling triple duty, as it 1) serves to break her cold facade and provides comic relief in the form of an ongoing gag, 2) gives the reader a strong understanding of her guiding motives/desires, and 3)gives her role as a medical investigator narrative justification. Of course she'd know what was used to poison someone, that's her whole thing! Jinshi himself is a counterpart to Maomao's colder tendencies, being very clingy and emotional. This show is not afraid of making him a pathetic little obsessed man, and it's all the better for him. Unlike other possesive and obsessed male leads, Jinshi manages to mostly stay away from the creep factor by being so uttely pathetic and cringe that he never really comes across as an actual threat. Couple that with him actually being very respectful of Maomao, only engaging in light flirting, and how he never actually wants to change her (most rapey MLs try to break the FL out of their feisty charcater or demean her for it while showing her how they're more powerful), and Jinshi makes for a very good love interest that also feels like a very safe comfortable person, which I feel matches the tone of the show very well. He's also as much of a freak as Maomao ("she wants to crush me like a bug <3333🥰🥰🥰), so they're very well matched there, too. He's such a petty loser, and that makes him a stronger character.
The story seems to be ramping up, and while I don't think it'll ever lose the lighthearted tone, I'm excited about how it already seems to promise a more in-depth exploration of the world it's set up the scaffolding for. For what it's worth, I also think the show has done a very good job at making the world feel expansive and mysterious, while also balancing that wholesomeness, which for a show centered around sex workers is quite the feat.
Anyways, long story short, I think the nine episodes that are out so far are really great, and the story thrives through how utterly endering it is. I am charmed by the world and the characters and what the plot has promised us, and while I don't expect it to revolutionize anime or whatever, it's still a masterclass in narrative shorthand and the act of balancing its heavy themes, especially when it comes to the characters themselves. There's so many of them that are so fun and memorable that I didn't mention, but who absolutely deserve their own posts, and that's only nine episoded into a comedy show, which I think goes to show how strong of a start this series has. Overall, I'd rate the show so far an 8/10, and I'm really excited to see what will come from the next 15 episodes.

Finished another amazing series Mob Psycho 100
And it was a exceptional experience y’all, ( Spoilers a head for the non telepaths and psychics)
So the last season I heard it was just meh till the end from my friends who whatched it and DAMN they were dead wrong on that mark I LOVE BEGINNING TO END THIS SEASON
Want to talk about each arc that blown me away
Which I don’t have a single clue what the fandom name these arcs so I gonna make some simple names for it
Back to mob arc (1-3 episode)
Was really amazing as a starter for what to come for those school elements that was every episode that was ther. I related to mob so good dam hard that first episode from just his fear of the future and that advice gave at the really helps me get my head looking forward at the future without fear but with excitement for the possibility. Just speech from the teacher was soooo reassuring and I could just understand on that feeling so hard then that yokai hunter episode was just hilarious and cute having mob solves his own problems in such a way that incorporates his passion and reliability was just a real fun time to watch. Having that yokai king( the one that mob made) was cute to seee all of that effort that been put together. And now what I I would say the last place episode and by no means I think it was bad I just felt incomplete but with that next arc it has been a amazing to hint at and show what to come .
The divine tree arc (4-6)
This arc was just sooo good and for it was too reason the eeriness of the first part like how everyone started to ignore mob and starts to be more of a out cast while the religion starts to slowly take over. Like this what was One of favorite YouTuber videos Supereyepatch wolf video about social anxiety horror was about ( and yall should watch that video if you want to explore that same feeling with mob) but yea having that feeling of slowly becoming a outcast is just a fear that now looms over me. And then having those little scary moments of just the spread will linger in my mind for a while. The other part of why I love this arc is dimple from how he was in the beginning and end. I don’t know what the opinion on the beginning of the arc about dimple but I loved how unnerving it was about. The concept of someone takes your place is equally as scary as the becoming a outcast to your friends and I think it went hand by hand perfectly but the ending with dimple was sooooooooooo good like I thought oh easy back stab here but the genuine kindness that mob showed actually made him change and I love that soo much and how he made mob go home made me cry actually tears with that wave because aaaaahhhh I can’t really explain it in words but if anyone can explain please do but it was so gooood.
Space arc( 7-8)
This was just a cute nice simple arc. I just love how it expanded so much with occult club members and it just so cute and wholesome having them together, and the message of make memories is resonating to me sooo hard. Wanting to make a friend dream a reality is real heartwarming and how it explored more on a different psychic is really interesting and love that new character so much with his excitement for the adventure. And the aliens was just a treat to because having them there made sense in that strange world of mob psycho and having them either real or not really didn’t matter but just making them real felt so complete.
Final (9-12)
Okay ao I. I don’t want dismiss the other parts of this great season but wow this is the best way to end a series like this one from the amazing action to the most heart felt speeches and the overall tone of this felt soo right. Having experienced this was great bringing back last season big bad was a treat and the fights were great but that running scene from Reigan was just immaculate just him running towards Mob as the world turns to ruins it just amazing. And I love how each character ending was felt so complete like with Teruki Hanazawa him with that scene calling himself mobs rival was soo good he save everyone because he knew that fighting mob wasn’t the main thing but protecting mob from killing people was. And there were so many more great moments like this to round out most characters in this great story. But we have to talk about tumblr sexy man Reigan and his speech and I don’t know how many people are said this but I just love how he was honest to mob and helped him accept himself to become more of a complete person and it just makes me have goosebumps from just listening to him admitting to his faults it just soooo god damn good.
I don’t have any good ending statements but I am just glad to experience this amazing show and I hope yall have similar experiences with this great series

Sooo, just a small comment on some of the things I loved in the finale of PJO.
There are obviously gonna be spoilers here soo...
-The fight between Percy and Ares!!! I loved the wave and now it was a subtle way of showing Poseidon was indeed beside him.
-The scenes between Percy and Luke!!! "Look, you didn't want to be a half-blood...". I loved the addition of these flashbacks of Luke teaching Percy to fight.
-Olympus! Omg, it was so pretty!!!
-Percy immediately being a total little shit with Zeus, I loved that!
-Poseidon showing up to protect Percy!
-Percy understanding only the word for "father" in Ancient Greek. He knows it because of Sally!
-"Ares is a moron."
-Overall the whole exchange between Percy and Poseidon. It really is a big step from him being all bitter and it was a bit corny but I liked it still.
-When Percy reveals Luke is the Lightning thief!
-Luke not fighting Percy at first. I have thoughts about the whole thing but I'll put them later on.
-Luke snapping for a moment and attacking Percy only after he mentions his father.
-Annabeth and her dagger!
-"Wait, your name is Percy!" And later "I don't think so", This was sooo hilarious. Especially when you think about how he initially tried to lie to him he's his dad. I'm pretty sure Dionysus knows his and everyone's name very well, he just likes being a jerk.
-"Some place called Disneyland", tbh, I feel like Annabeth won't be thrilled. I certainly wasn't and I was still am pretty childish as a kid.
-Grover's license!
-Their pact! That was so cute!
-"What did you dream of?" "Grandpa.". For a moment there I was like "What!? Are they tring to make it look like it was all a dream or that they're trying to make it as if Sally doesn't remember!?" but a moment later I was like "Nope, that's Percy Jackson, of course he'd refer to Kronos as his grandpa even tho he's his biggest enemy rn"
-Blue pancakes!
-When Percy and Sally were leaving the apartment, Percy's last narrative and the rain outside!
-The devastating moment when I thought we're not seeing Gabe turned into a statue but juuuust in case skipping the credits (call it a feeling or sth) and...
-GABE TURNING INTO A STATUE!!!! I'm honestly so happy! I'm not even mad Sally didn't do it as it was implied in the books. But she was divorcing him! I know he wasn't portrayed as bad as he was in the books in the TV show but I still believe he was emotionally abusing and he was still a jerk even tho it was toned down. Also, he was such an annoying, whiny bit-$(#..
...
That's all I can think of rn, even tho I believe there were other things too.
Now, I gotta admit I've read the book a looong time ago so I don't remember everything in great details but I noticed lots of the changes in the episode and throughout the whole season. I still enjoyed the show a lot, tho. Most of the changes made sense and like... Come on, it's an adaptation! And Rick Riordan was involved in the process so I believe he knew what he was doing with all these changes.
Tbh, I liked the first two episodes a lot, then idk, the third, maybe fourth too, were a tiiny bit meh to me but overall, I loved it and loved the last couple of episodes! I have mixed feelings for some things like them knowing about Medusa, the Lotus casino and other stuff but again, I trusted the process and it worked! It's only 8 episodes and there was a lot to happen there so I can see why these changes were needed. Figuring all out would have taken them a lot of time. Also, it was as much for new fans as it was for new ones so of course some things had to be made differently. For example, how the whole thing about who would betray Percy was done.
I've been watching lots of videos and posts of new fans who haven't read the books and I was cackling like an old hag at their assumptions how it was gonna be Grover or sth. And you just can't convince me that episode 7 and Annabeth getting caught by one of the roots wasn't with the exact purpose of making people think "Oh, they are friends now, what if it's her?" It was really well-played. And let's not forget how everyone was like "Luke! Babyboy, so precious." Can't wait to see everyone's reactions now... (Luke is still these things, even though he is "bad guy")
Speaking of Luke, again, haven't read the books in a while but I somewhat don't remember him and Percy being that close and being such good buddies. Idk, might need to read them again but even though I didn't mind that dynamic too much, I really thought this is more like how Luke and Annabeth should have been. I feel like we needed more interactions between them. Also, Luke speaks randomly about her twice, first telling Percy about her and calling her "my little sister" and then last episode giving that example with the spiders (nopee, I don't believe itt, she won't crush it, she'll scream and run unless it's a huge spider, then she'll fight it because of her bf) but she barely (if not ever) mentioned him? Yeah, she mentioned Thalia but almost nothing of Luke?? How are you gonna convince me that was her hero!? She should have been broken by his betrayal much more than Percy! Also, they kinda made Luke somewhat of a big softie, I thought it was because then his betrayal would have been more devastating but nope, there wasn't some kind of a 180° turn in his behaviour. Wonder why, to make him more relatable or? I want to see how his further actions are going to play out in this scenario...
Anywayy, all in all, I enjoyed the show a lot and I hope there is a next season. I want to see how the story will proceed on the screen (and I hope the changes we keep getting aren't anything too essential).

And now it has arrived!
One of my most anticipated sageuks of the year, Queen Woo - but it has been on my tbw list for AGES because all I really needed to know is that is was a historical drama with Ji Chang Wook in it and I am not about to pass the opportunity to witness that again. I adored him in Warrior Baek Dong Soo (the lighter and more campy version of My Country also starring my all time fav Yoo Seung Ho) and in Empress Ki (which was the first looooong historical kdrama that I stuck around with and watch from beginning to end).
Also, it's not a sageuk set during the Joseon times… which is honestly just such a breath of fresh air. We get so many of them. I adore a lot of them, but Korean history also has so many other stories to draw inspo from.
That was sort of all I sort of knew about it before I went into it. I knew it was about Queen Woo and how she married one of her husbands brothers and was fighting to keep the throne after her husband died. I didn't know it was rated 19 for violence and… nudity, but that isn't really something that bothers me all that greatly if it just works with the story. I doubt this show is going to go all Game of Thrones on us and just show that sort of stuff in there just because.
If anything those scenes that we got actually just sort of amused or make me go… sure, ok.
And since I knew Ji Chang Wook would die (very sad, I wanted to watch him in all his sageuk glory for 8 episodes) so I spent the entire first episode just expecting him to drop dead and just exit the story every moment that he appeared on screen. But we are seeing quite a bit of him, and he seems to have a much bigger role within the story than I thought he would, which I am glad about. I was expecting a very kickass guest role or a cameo or something.
This show so far, I am on ep 2 because I am in my heart and soul not a binge watcher and I prefer to watch my kdramas on a slow but steady pace, and it is sort of the standard sageuk fare… with some added sex which we see way more in like historical movies but not in dramas. But with 8 episodes this will probably just feel like one long, epic movie anyway. It seems to have that sort of feel to it.
There is some scheming old men who want a better position or they want a better way to rule the country without really being on the throne and having to deal with stuff that comes with being a king. They want to rule from the shadows so to speak. There are ladies who want to be queen and scheme and plot to try to get to that position and so forth. it got flashbacks to the times they were kids and it got a man with a heart of gold (probably, or that is how it starts out) who is also a bit of a scoundrall running through the streets, jumping on roofs etc. It's a sageuks, you are having a fun time, you are pretending that you are learning some history and it's bloody and gory, it has Ji Chang Wook looking moody and sometimes covered in blood… what's not to enjoy.
It's all very standard for the genre, but I was very much entertained through it all... or the first two episodes. I just really enjoy this sort of more serious toned historical dramas. The politics can be dry, sure, but if one does it well and have enough of multi-layered and complex characters where we understand everyone's motives and such it actually is a very fun time.
I do think the drama is still very much setting the scenes in episodes 2 and we are still getting to know the main players. And I am still very much learning their names. There are some interesting characters there, like the priestess lady and the lady, the queens sister no less, one who accidentally killed the king because she wanted to fuck him, as well as Queen Woo and the former kings closest advicer, but they aren't the most complex characters yet, but with time they could be.
The queen, who is our main character and the main player in all of this, is somewhat of a girlboss female character and idk if she was adapted that way, of being this girl who wants to be a general but can't because she is a girl, for modern audience or if she was actually like that. But I do find her to be a character who is more than that and she is someone who is easy to root for. And I am excited for her politics and her plots and more of her backstory.

Hi Dreamy! Soo I watched TDP Season 6 last night! That was a GOOD season. Many of the open processes were led to satisfying conclusions, so that was nice. However, can I just ask... how do you bear with the pacing. I grapple with the sudden aging of the characters, Rayla's unannounced return from her unannounced disappearance, with the bad jokes, with the weird side quests. Zym isn't even one of the main characters anymore. "Rise of the Archmage" or whatever would describe the plot so much better?
What I'm trying to say is, I think I generally like the story and the arcs that people are taken through, but the differences between seasons just botch it up for me so much that cannot get more invested. It's a shame for such a well thought-out universe. It somehow seems like the writers were making it up as they went along without a real vision, and now after that last, rather poorly-received "setup" season, they finally got their act together. But what is up with that. How can I enjoy episodes of such a wide range in quality.
It bothers me very much. This could have been done better, more consistently. There is a cut to me before the aging and after the aging. They patched it up with the reenactment of that scene. It kinda works. But why was it made to have been needed. Lol.
Hey there! I personally enjoyed season 4 and 5 but I understand it wasn’t the same for everyone. Actually when I watched the Dragon Prince for the the first time, after I binged all of arc 1 shortly after the release of S3, I got really invested and followed a lot of news and even watched the zoom panel with the cast and crew, all of which lead me to finding the graphic novel Through the Moon and being able to get that and read it then. Definitely reading that helped me prepare for arc 2, at least knowing what to expect of Rayla and Rayllum. I know not everyone knew about the graphic novel so I do wonder if perhaps maybe it could’ve been animated as a short movie and released in between S3 and 4, since the events of it wouldn’t have fit at the end of S3 and neither at the beginning of S4. But at the same time, I’m not sure if they would’ve been given the greenlight for that by Netflix 🤷🏽‍♀️
As for the time skip, I’m actually fine with it since I feel like it gives more opportunity for a lot of different changes to have occurred, like Callum having learned more magic, Ezran to have grown more into his role as king, showing that Claudia getting the ingredients and everything needed to bring back Viren was a lot harder and needed a lot of time to complete, showing the gravity and difficulty of that spell, and lastly showing that despite Rayla’s intense long search of Viren, she couldn’t find him at all. And with the tone and theme of the show having matured in the Mystery of Aaravos by a whole lot, I do think it makes much more sense for the characters to be older and more mature to deal with it all.
Ngl I do miss seeing Zym more a great deal too but his role also depends on where we’re at in the story, like in arc 1, it was focused on him hatching and being a newborn dragon being brought home, along with him being a major target for Viren. S4 definitely was his biggest role in arc 2 since we now see him being a toddler and having become more stubborn and going against his mother a lot lol. But I guess his role has more to do with where we’re at in the plot? I do hope we get to see more of him in S7 though 😭
I guess the title “Mystery of Aaravos” has to do a lot with how as the audience, there’s so much we don’t know about him when we start the arc and then we learn more as we go, esp in S6.
As for all of the side plots, I do feel like S6 does tie them well together, kinda like how in arc 1, we did start getting the sunfire elves plot with Amaya, which at first may have felt unrelated to the main plot but it ultimately tied into it. In arc 2, we do see it tie in sooner in S5 when Callum and Rayla wanted to go to the Great Bookery of Lux Aurea, along with Janai having the nightmares about Aaravos and all of that.
To answer your question on how to better enjoy arc 2 esp between the gaps, I’ll suggest some of the graphic novels and also add a link to the short stories released before S4 and 5 which could hopefully bridge more gaps and help you enjoy more:
Through the Moon: Graphic novel set right after S3, deals with Rayla’s fears of Viren still being alive as well as her not having closure on what happened to her parents and Runaan, leading up to events of her leaving, definitely recommend reading, esp if you decide to do a whole series rewatch right after you finish season 3.
The Dragon Prince: Reflections: All short stories available on the Dragon Prince official website to read for free. Volume 1 stories were released Pre-S4 and are mostly set within the 2 year time gap. Volume 2 stories were released before season 5 most set between S4 & 5, with the exception of ‘Strangers’, which is set during S4 when Soren was tied up by Terry and Claudia and deals with him reacting to Viren being alive, and the three-part story ‘Chasing Shadows’ which is focused on Rayla’s time in Scumport pre-S4, and ‘Queen’s Mercy’ which is a Kim’dael backstory.
Bloodmoon Huntress: Graphic novel with a Rayla backstory, starts with her parents leaving for the dragon guard & her being adopted by Runaan and Ethari. It shows a lot of how it impacted Rayla, gives ALOT of insight into Rayla’s upbringing and how she forms her understanding of how to love someone, esp in terms of her eventually leaving Callum when she’s older. This book also introduced Kim’dael who we also see in S5.
There’s also the graphic novel ‘Puzzle House’ which is a Soren and Claudia backstory set after their mother left, which I also loved and found giving more insight into Claudia’s character, but I would definitely say that ‘Through the Moon’ and ‘Bloodmoon Huntress’ would help bridge gaps more. I guess a good way to keep up with all of these releases would be to follow TDP official social media like their Instagram and Twitter since that’s where they post the updates and new releases. You can also follow Aaron and Justin on Twitter too since they post a lot of news first hand.
Let me know if you want to discuss more and if you want me to provide anymore resources 😊 I really hope these can improve your experience with the saga and help you enjoy it more ❤️❤️
