Synopsis: Haerin loved you a lot and you love her just as much.

[2 years before NewJeans…]

Haerin was practicing with four others girls before she saw a girl come in with Min Heejin from the reflection of the practice room’s mirror.

“Pretty…” she muttered subconsciously, awing at the sight of you. Danielle who was right next to her gave a teasing look but the younger girl didn’t notice as her eyes were stuck on your pretty face.

Never in Kang Haerin’s 15 years of living have she seen someone so gorgeous.

“Girls, this is Y/n she’ll be training with you guys, she’s really shy so make sure to make her feel welcomed!”

She could see that you were nervous from the fact that you were fiddling with the ends of your hoodie.

Although she’s someone who rarely approach people first, she found herself subconsciously making her way towards you, shocking the other girls.

“Hi, I’m Kang Haerin!” She greeted you with so much enthusiasm that even she was surprised with herself.

You lift your eyes from the ground, facing a pretty girl with pretty cat like eyes. “Oh hello! I’m Yn but you already know that, I think…” You greeted back awkwardly, scratching the back of your neck.

To say that you were shy was an understatement, you couldn’t even look at anyone in the eyes.

But Haerin found herself finding your awkwardness cute. From that day on, she made a promise to herself that she’ll get you to open up, which is kinda ironic because the other girls (mostly Minji) used to complain about that same problem with her.

As weeks had passed, she found out you liked a lot of things; video games, mint chocolate ice cream, and perfume that smells like peach.

Haerin would spray herself with that specific scent everyday before practice just to get a compliment from you.

She found herself doing things that she never had interest in just to spend more time with you. Specifically video games, she was really bad at them which was why she stopped playing them until she met you.

Because the only way to get you to talk a lot is if the conversations is about video games, you could rant on and on for hours and Haerin would still listen attentively, noting your favorite ones.

Even if she was terrible at them, she would still play games with you every day after the two of you finished practicing.

You would always insist on doing something she likes for a change, seeing how she doesn’t enjoy them as much as you do, but she would always refuse saying that as long as you’re enjoying it then she’s enjoying it too.

When I say it with my chest, I think I love her. But not as a friend…

You found it heart fluttering how she would always try for you. No one else have ever put so much effort just to make you happy.

“Rin, do you want to go to the cat cafe down the road? I heard the cats and kittens there are adorable!”

Another thing that made her fall for you even more is your love for cats. She found that out one day during your lunch break when you kept mumbling to no one about how much you missed your cats.

“Yeah, whatever you want Ynnie!”

Your hands intertwined with hers as you guys head to the cat cafe. “Aw they’re so adorable!” You squealed and ran to one of the cats, pulling Haerin with you.

“Awe, this little guy looks like you Rin!” You exclaimed as you were holding a ginger cat. Haerin gasped feeling a little offended. “No it doesn’t!”

“He does! Look at his eyes, they’re as pretty as yours.” You made the girl in front of you reddened up without noticing since you were distracted by the cat.

“You think my eyes are pretty?” Haerin smiled shyly, her eyes looking straight at yours. You gave a an adoring smile back. “I think everything about you is pretty.”

If you hold me I won’t let go, I’m not sure I’ve said so.

That was enough to make a freeze, her blushing become more evident causing you to giggle. “You’re adorable Kang Haerin” you poked her cheek before getting distracted by the cat again.

That was it, you broke Kang Haerin.

A year had passed since you first met and since Haerin started falling for you.

After weeks of debating with herself on whether she should confess, Haerin had finally built up the courage to do so.

Kang Haerin felt like the happiest girl when you said yes to her confession and kissed her on the cheek.

But it’s true, I’m in love with you.

Soon, you two began to kiss behind close doors, with your relationship not being out yet. Both of you were scared that if anyone found out then they would break the two of you up.

You loved her a lot and she loved you just as much.

The rest of the girls who’ve seen how the two of you acted around each other, suspected that there’s something going on, but not wanting to point out something that might not exist, they let it go. Though they teased the two of you a lot.

The relationship you guys had was beautiful, you both loved and respected each other so much, and you’ve never fought nor disagreed on anything.

All until one day.

You guys have been walking around eggshells lately.

Your vocal teacher have been reprimanding you and the girls to not get into relationships, saying that it might ruin everything for the whole group. She would always look between you and Haerin while doing so too.

“Rin, I feel like they’re on to us.” You had pulled Haerin into your room.

“I feel it too, but it’s fine as long as they don’t find out right?” Haerin placed her hands on yours, she was as concerned as you were.

“I don’t know Rin, maybe we should distance ourselves from each other…take a break maybe until we’re off their radar.”

“Why would you want to do that?!” Haerin felt shocked as tears fell down her cheeks without realizing.

“I don’t! But wouldn’t it be better for us to take a break rather than being broken up?” Your heart aches at the sight of your girlfriend crying, your hand reaching her cheeks and softly wiping her tears away.

“It’s just that we’re debuting in a few weeks and I don’t want to risk us not debuting together…I’m hurting too, but it’s for the best.”

“If that’s what you want, then let’s take a break…”

Feels like I’ve been hiding, haven’t tried to fight it.

Nothing felt the same after the conversation you too had.

Everyone noticed that you and Haerin wouldn’t look at each other in the eyes and it was concerning.

Fast forward to present time, you and Haerin stayed friends. Friends who loves each other way too much to still be friends, but are too afraid to do anything about it.

As kids they’d play wild make believe games with game of thrones level plot

Ruth is much more of an opportunistic, spur of the moment type of ler, so she’ll get him when he’s stretching or trying to reach for something. Lord help him if he gets stuck in his hoodie & she’s anywhere near

She’s absolutely the reason why the football team found out he’s ticklish. He was in his mascot uniform & reached up to take off the head & she tickled under his arms & he actually screamed. & now they’re all very interested & this is Ruth’s first real chance to actually TALK to the football team so of course she’s throwing Richie’s ass under the bus!

She’s a thoughtful friend tho so she makes sure to warn them about his asthma & to “take breaks if they really wanna have fun with it” & Richie wants to kill her because wtf that’s his fucking scapegoat & she took that away too!

So some time later he manages to rope Kyle & Jason into helping with his revenge. (He guilt trips them into it & says it’s the least they could do for him after ganging up on him & that they’re a team now & teams stick together fucking bro pack mentality)

He literally plans it out & they come up to them while they’re talking in the hall during a free period or something & “thank” her for the useful information & she’s all blushy & stuttery like “o-oh you’re welcome! I-it was no problem, really” & Kyle’s like “that’s why we’d like to return the favor 😊” & she’s just like “w-what?” all confused & Jason kinda feels bad for what they’re about to do (not really tho) so he’s like “sorry, but Richie sold you out” & before he’s even finished talking Kyle already has her trapped in a hug & before she can even try to beg or talk her way out of this she’s laughing. & she’s freaking tf out because it’s so much physical attention from hot guys but at the same time she feels like she wants to crawl out of her skin, crawl under a rock & die. During movie nights, they argue about what they should watch & then end up snuggling together on the couch 15 minutes later. At some point during the movie a tickle fight WILL break out

Somercrest Academy

Somercrest Academy is basically the reject version of NRC and RSA. It’s the magic school you go to if you can’t get into the good ones. It’s kind of delaptited in the middle of nowhere in kind of an overgrown jungly swampy area. They have a one sided rivalry with NRC and RSA because they consider them to be their rivals but NRC and RSA never take them seriously. They got last place in VDC 😬

It was too late to apply To RSA so they ended up at Somercrest. They’re student body president and friends with Caiman.

My Collection of Divination Decks

You're so sweet! You got it! I wish this post hadn’t taken so long. When it was halfway done I decided to take the pictures myself instead and got overwhelmed so I've done it a bit at a time. Anyways you guys remember that I'm always happy to help you find beginner decks that work for you or decks that fit certain ideas or themes! Rather if that's more inclusivity, certain vibes, the deck being based on animals, plants, etc. Don't be afraid to reach out!

The Classic Rider Waite

This was my first deck as I'm sure it was for a lot of people. I heard a lot of people talking about it and knew a lot of other decks were based on it so I got it. I'm glad it was my first deck because it helped familiarize me with all the Rider Waite based decks yet to come in my practice and it's just a sort of neutral starting point. I could also see the appeal in getting a more themed deck which is why I offer to help beginners find one that fits their needs. The good deck is the deck you'll pick up and use!

The Linestrider Tarot

This was my first deck that's well... not just the plain old Rider Waite. I was 14 or 15 when I got it so it probably wouldn't be my first pick now, aesthetic wise, but I have a huge soft spot for it. It's always felt like I was in tune with this deck and I love little details like that The Fool has no face and the two of cups are cats! Like isn't that just the cutest? Also it wasn't that expensive and came with a solid box and a thick guidebook, which is always a welcome bonus in my opinion.

The Hedgewitch Botanical Oracle

Ah, my first oracle deck, as you might have guessed. It was also made by the same artist that made the Linestrider tarot, which you may also have guessed. I'm pretty sure I got them at the same time because I adored this art style so much. I like the way this deck is laid out. There's detailed illustrations of plants, and y'all know I love a deck with plants, as well as the name of the plant and the main theme of the card written on it. I need to use this deck more! Let me know if you guys have tips for doing oracle readings or using oracle decks more.

The Star Spinner Tarot

I was interested in this deck for its inclusivity. it's also a hopeless romantic deck in my opinion. It has a fairytale sort of art style and you can choose between four different The Lovers cards, two of which are distinctly gay. Also the two of cups are pink mermaids, what else could you possibly want?

The Avatar Arcana

This deck is based on avatar the last airbender if you couldn't tell or aren't familiar with that series. It's a fandom deck. I was such a feen for it when I found it online. I waited patiently for it for ages. I feel like the selections for what characters go with what cards, especially on the major arcana, are a little on the nose and show that this is more of a novelty deck. But hey, it's a deck themed around a show, I knew what I signed up for, y'know? Anyways I'm very happy to have it!

The Illustrated Herbiary Oracle

This deck is going here because I wanted to show all the decks in my collection. It was a gift and even though I don't wanna be ungrateful, I'm hard to buy gifts for, and picky about my decks. I usually like decks based on plants (and have several in my wishlist) but this one just isn't my favorite if I'm being honest. I think it's the borders. Either way it's in my collection, which makes it worth note, and who knows! Maybe someone else will love it or just generally be inspired to get a plant based deck.

The Dream Interpretation Oracle

The cards are unfortunately bent on this deck so there was a slight glare on a few cards, but even if they’re hadn’t been I feel like the cards here or any picture just couldn’t do this deck’s vibes justice. I got it at witchfest (which I'm so excited for this year, that's a whole different happy ramble) and I feel like it really captures the strangeness of my dreams. There are whole cards for things like shoes, or shouting. Shuffling the cards is a weird time indeed.

The Antique Anatomy Tarot

I feel like this deck is quite popular and for good reason. It’s exactly what it sounds like. It has vintage vibes, it has skulls, it has flowers, these are some of my favorite things to draw so of course they are some of my favorite artistic themes in a deck. I have multiple decks on my wishlist that are just based on skeletons or plants. I love how this deck combines the two. I also like how on the elixirs, the labels on the bottles relate to the card's meaning. Additionally the jumbling of body parts in a lot of the coins suit, particularly the four of coins shown is also an aspect I like. It just looks neat to me.

The Fyodor Pavlov Tarot

This is by far my favorite deck so this section will be so so long and I'm not sorry! This is double special interest material. I'm t4t and deserve to gush about my representation damn it. So I’ve been trying to stick to 6 cards max with maybe the back of the card's pattern or box shown for these pictures, however this deck is my favorite and just too good to contain with such restrictions. I worked so hard to get this deck. I saw The Lovers card online and fell in love. The card's artwork is t4t and I'm SO t4t and so in love with just The Lovers card as an art piece in general. Anyways after I found just that card somewhere online I said a prayer that a full deck by the artist existed, and went on the hunt for it. I found it. I originally found the kickstarter, which had stopped, and after some digging found out the artist had moved the sales to Etsy. The artist was packaging small batches all on his own. I tried to get it twice off Etsy and both times it sold out immediately. The deck has now had an official release and is a lot easier to get. I preordered that newer version and waited months and months for my beloved and it was by FAR so worth it.

I love that this deck is Rider Waite based but inclusive to various experiences. This includes the minority representation, but also details like how the queen of cups is pregnant. Maybe I don't look at a lot of decks but I feel like I don't see that very often and I think details like that are cool. As you'd probably expect, the artist is queer and trans and I love that and supporting them and that kind of artwork. He's also a tattoo artist and I feel like that shows in his work. I love artwork with ink, but I'm biased, because my artwork is usually ink based. Also I already put too many cards in the picture so they're not there but shoutout to Strength and The Hermit in this deck for being women.

Basically I love this deck more than I can put into words!

The Tarot of Pagan Cats

The newest addition to my collection! This is a mini deck that makes me want about ten million more cat themed decks. When I decided to take the pictures myself for this post I added some other cards. Originally I was just gonna have The Tower though. I feel like it tells you everything you need to know. This deck is adorable and charming. The Fool makes me laugh as well as The Tower and Strength. The Lovers, as well as the two and ten of cups are just precious. The design for Death is perfect. Fuzzy, and somehow still comes across as stern. I want more cat decks!!!

(Also side note down here real quick for that one person, someone asked if I could go over how the decks personalities differ from each other but I found I was very bad at putting that into words especially in this post so that will have to be something I talk about elsewhere if I do!)

I swam throughout high school while doing the school musicals at the same time. I also played lacrosse for several years and played water polo for a bit in college which is always gets a great reaction.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

I don’t want to just say “vibe” because that doesn't feel quite right, but it’s really difficult to explain…

I feel like, when I meet someone, I can tell pretty quickly if we’re going to get along, but I think it’s less about assessing their overall aura [or whatever], and more that I can almost immediately tell who someone else wants me to be. What they want out of the interaction. It’s like I can feel their expectation of me before anyone has even opened their mouth.

This is 100% a trauma response, I am totally aware of that, but it can still be a really useful tool for someone like me who, often comes off as being a little too much.

I really hate the feeling of being commodified. Whenever I show someone a piece of art, or tell them I write, there’s inevitably a moment where they say something to the effect of “You could totally sell that,” and to me, it always sounds like they’re saying “Sell your soul. It’s worth less than the money you’d get back.”

Artist. Designer. Writer. I am already all of these things, I don’t need someone else’s money for that to be true.

Thoughts I had while reading TCF/LCF chapter 15

Oh the hunting rabbits. Once again Ron is being a little shit and he even tricked poor Choi Han into helping him.

Ron may not have caught the rabbits but I imagine it was still his doing

On, Hong and Hans continue to be precious and adorable. Hans tries to take such good care of him. Love that he took the time to prepare jerky for them. He’s so sweet. I said it before I’ll say it again. Another day, another reason to love Hans

And Hans is right. Their sassiness is cute. Cute and terrifying. This novel does that type of thing better than most

The image I have in my head of Choi Han just peacefully sat eating his soup next to Cale and the kittens as all the other knights keep just glancing at him in uncertainty and Cale internally curses him for catching rabbits of all things, while Hans tries to get the cats to pay attention to him. I love it. It’s times like this I wish I could actually draw.

Choi Han asserting dominance. Also the start of Choi Han’s weird well I didn’t manage to kill them but I did manage to cut off a limb and permanently maimed them thing that happens a couple times that I remember. These bandits then Redika.

And the vice captain learns a valuable lesson luckily before he pisses off Choi Han too much

That must be humiliating for the bandits, having to admit they lost to 5 knights even if one of them was really strong. All their bandit friends and rivals will make fun of them. They become the laughing stock of the bandit community. And all because they tried to steal from Cale Henituse while Choi Han was there. Big mistake

It’s so fun watching Choi Han terrify and intimidate people. And he seems so pleased with himself.

Choi Han also enjoys messing people but I guess that makes sense. I feel like to be an ally of Cale’s you have to be a little shit at least slightly. It’s a fairly big part of the job description.

I feel like everyone likes messing with Cale tbf. He’s fun to tease and mess with

Ok it’s time to discuss the whole conversation Choi Han and Cale have here. First of all him saying I’ve never seen so many bandits before instead of just saying yeas as an overall answer is really smart form the author. Lets the audience know that this probably isn’t the first battle he’s seen, just with bandits and in-world, he’s lying without lying, because why would the trash Cale have seen a battle? He hasn’t left the Henituse territory in what, 2 years? And no one calls him out on this so it must be true that he’s never encounters bandits or a battle. In this story wording is everything. Ok so I know Choi Han doesn’t really know much about Cale but the whole “this must be your first time facing death” thing is really interesting to me. It shows how, when Choi Han thinks of death, he thinks of battles and violence.  Because even if Cale has never faced a battle before, illnesses still exist, right? Like, there are many ways you could die, and many near death experiences you could face that have nothing to do with violence. That’s without taking into account the KRS element. And this thinking does make sense. Most of the death he’s seen has been due to violence. I just think it’s interesting that, in Choi Han’s mind death is associated most with battles and violence. But the thing is I don’t think at this point Cale really thinks anyone at this point is going to kill him, but he is still nervous around them purely because they’re dangerous and main characters and he doesn’t want to get involved, or so he claims. I don’t think I actually explained that how I meant. Basically he’s  scared of the possibilities of what they could do but realistically he knows these things won’t happen, at least subconsciously. Idk Cale, maybe he keeps talking to you because, and this might be a stretch and I’m really grasping at straws here, but maybe the reason he keeps talking to you is that he likes you. Or maybe that you keep answering him. Idk though.

Ok and this the whole I trust in my heart I’ll be okay. Now, he’s talking about the Indestructible Sheild, and we know that and it makes sense to us… but no one else knows he has the indstructible shield. So when he says he doesn’t need to know martial arts, points out the people around him as a reason why and then says that he trusts in his heart he’ll be okay, all they hear is I trust you as my guards to keep me safe. Of course that motivates them, you’ve seemingly just put your full trust in them to keep you safe not just because it’s their job and they’re supposed to, but because you, as a person, actually trust them to do it. And then you’re somehow shocked when they want to train more. They want to ensure that your trust isn’t misplaced. Cale, I know you know things they don’t, but this is why we’re careful with what we say.  Because Choi Han isn’t a mind reader so for him all he knows is what he sees and here’s so for Choi Han, this is that conversation word for word, starting from:

Choi Han: Cale-nim, do you not study any martial arts?

Cale: no need

Choi Han: shouldn’t you at least have the strength to protect yourself.

Cale: I have plenty of ways already *looks at the people around him* you can see them too right? *smiles* *pats heart* I trust my heart. I will live.

And funnily enough that’s also what everyone else hears. They don’t know about the indestructible shield, so to them when he says about trust, he’s talking about them. He’s so clueless, so dumb, and somehow so good at motivating people. This may happen a few more times, me showing a conversation without Cale’s thoughts to show what everyone actually hears just because I feel like it proves some of my points better and explains it better than I could. It also gives you a better idea of which conversation I’m talking about. It won’t be constant or all the time but when talking about misunderstandings that could’ve been avoided if Cale just remembered people weren’t mind readers who knew what he meant, I’ll occasionally do this. As I said it probably won’t be often. But anyways, I know a huge part of Cale’s character is that he’s oblivious and causes misunderstandings but how does he not realise they’re obviously going to think he’s talking about them here? What does he plan for them to think?

This is why I can’t feel sorry for him when these misunderstandings happen. He actually brings it on himself. Honestly reading these conversations while taking out his thoughts really helps you understand what everyone who isn’t Cale sees and hears and really puts it into a new perspective where it’s easier to understand their reactions and the understandings, and shows how utterly avoidable these reactions and situations are. And it actually makes it more entertaining for when you read his surprise or confusion. Like it’s easy enough to understand anyway but when put like this it’s like yeah there’s not really another way they could’ve taken that with what they know

So honest question how many times do you think the characters in this novel have looked at Cale and thought he was being cute and it’s just never mentioned because Cale never noticed it? Like they’ve just looked at him and gone “aww!” I reckon for Ron it’s a daily occurrence he’ll never met. And anytime he sees money or is presented with good food and gets happy or excited. When he interacts with Raon or the cat siblings. When he says certain things or does certain things. Because Cale is kind of adorable in his own right and just doesn’t realise it, doesn’t realise how precious he is, and I feel like everyone lowkey platonically simps for him and I think that’s perfectly valid. Again they have weekly gossip sessions where they just gush and worry about him. Ooh they share photos they took when he wasn’t paying attention, not embarrassing ones, but just moments they thought he was being cute.

Wait so the lemonade is specifically prepared by Ron, right? And the lemon tea by Beacrox? I love that the implication here is that Ron brought lemons along for the sole purpose of teasing Cale. Like that’s hilarious. God I love Ron and the lemon torture sm.

Yes, Choi Han motivated Hilsman. I’m not gonna say he didn’t but once again Cale doesn’t realise he’s also motivated him, and he’d probably be horrified if he knew. But Choi Han does also motivate Hilsman and provides some sort of level Hilsman wants the knights to achieve. Choi Han teaches him not to underestimate and encourages him to get stronger just by being present, but Cale encourages them with words and boosts their morale. That’s what’s he’s best at raising morale, boosting confidence, anything that has to do with speaking really. He somehow knows even without realising it what people need to hear to motivate them. The best way to put it is Choi Han is physical motivation and Cale is mental/emotional motivation, if you know what I mean. I’m bad at explaining things but hopefully you get my point.

My god they’re so dumb. The cave is right behind the villa so, logically, something goe wrong, those living in the villa will be killed first. Dumb, arrogant, careless. There are so many ways Venion and the Marquis are so dumb. The worlds where Taylor dies and doesn’t take over this family? I have no hope for them. Maybe one of his siblings is better? Idk, we don’t really know much about the other Stans but I can’t imagine they’d be much better if they have this Marquis as their father.

Honestly Venion is so pathetic. I can’t wait to see him get destroyed again. I remember the torture being satisfying to read the first time. I can’t imagine that will change

I’m sorry I know this probably isn’t the intent but Hans walked over with Choi Han when Cale was upset/angry and my brain just went aww he brought the emotional support Choi Han and I can’t unthink it. Choi Han  is so emotional support and I love that. like I know that’s not really what/how it happened but idk I like the idea of, whenever Cale is upset or angry, someone just going to get Choi Han. The kids are already there obviously.

Cale: I just want to get Choi Han away from me

Also Cale, whenever Choi Han goes literally anywhere away from him: stay safe, and take this medicine, and hurry back and - *continues to act like a concerned parent and fuss about Choi Han*

Choi Han, who lost one family and has quickly gained another: I’ll never let anything happen to you and I love you and I’ll never leave you for too long and- *continues to platonically simp for Cale and is just so happy because he has somewhere to return to and a family and all the things he thought he’d lost forever*

Choi Han calling Cale sir just feels so weird to me. Like Cale-nim fine, but sir? Idk it doesn’t feel right.

Ah yes, Cale’s bad feelings. You’ve gotta love them.

Cale really can’t catch a break, can he? Choi Han leaves his side for two seconds and this BS happens. Well, guess that settles it, Choi Han can never leave Cale again. Every time he does, things like this (Marquis Stan’s carriage) happen. Or he brings back more people than he left with, and that’s clearly Cale’s thing, it can’t be both of their thing.

Once again, Cale gets involved when he doesn’t really have to. If Choi Han punches Marquis Stan I think that would be deserved. Probably for the best he didn’t though. That would not end well for Choi Han as funny and deserved as it would be.

I mean chances are, before he got out of the carriage, they didn’t really know Choi Han was with him? I’d say it’s a 50/50 chance they knew before then, but also it seems like these people are just like that, and would’ve reacted the same if Choi Han wasn’t with Cale, only maybe even worse.

Are you named after anyone? no! my mum liked the name sophie because it means ‘wisdom’ in greek and she’d lived in greece for a while.

When was the last you cried? i had a little sob watching the ‘life and death of lily savage’ documentary on itv the other week because i am still so, so sad about paul o’grady dying, i adored him. as a kid, my favourite comedians (who i saw on tv) were julian clary and lily savage. half their jokes flew over my head but that dog was always in me!! anyway, as for real sobbing crying… i’m actually not sure? it was a while ago for sure. may it stay that way 🙏

Do you have kids? nope, and i won’t be having them. people used to tell me i’d change my mind once i got older and now i’m 35 and still have not experienced a single maternal twinge.

What sports do you play/have you played? i don’t play any kind of competitive sports and have avoided them for most of my life (i have extremely poor hand-eye coordination, hypermobile limbs and rubbish lungs. i’m not built for speed) but i do pole fitness and have done for about three years now, i’m not great at it (see above) but i loooove it and it’s gotten me way more hench than i was.

Do you use sarcasm? i used to use it constantly as a defence thing but less so these days. i do still use it though yeah.

What is the first thing you notice about people? sometimes i have this thing where the first second i meet someone i have this weird shine effect where i know they’re going to be a very important part of my life (good or bad). it’s only happened about three or four times but it’s always been right. on a more prosaic level: eyes, smile, body language.

Scary movies or happy endings? scary movies!! love a good horror. i don’t like jumpscares or found footage/haunted doll whatever ones, but i love the nasty shit: video nasties, torture porn, french extreme, pinky horror, faux snuff, that kinda thing. i don’t want them so much these days but i was pretty obsessed for a while.

Any talents? i’m good at writing and drawing/painting, and i’m quite practical in the sense that i can fix things and build things, like i LOVE building flatpack furniture. i think my main ‘talent’ though is just that i can pick things up quickly. if i’m shown how to do something, generally i can do it pretty well quite quickly and i don’t need to be shown lots of times, and i’m good at being given a starting point and figuring things out from there. i think that’s the ‘talent’ i use most in life, certainly in work anyway.

Autism & ADHD

I don’t even know where to begin, but I guess I’ll start with yesterday.

Yesterday, I had Leo’s feedback session after being evaluated last month for autism, ADHD, and dyslexia (unofficial evaluation- will explain more.). Leo is our youngest son and third to have a diagnosis. Leo has been diagnosed with ADHD and is on the cusp of dyslexia. It is recommended that he has outpatient therapy for his ADHD and an intensive therapy with a reading interventionist.

Leo has always been this fun, quick whit, energetic kid, but deep down I knew there was something more. I love this kid so much and yet every day it feels like I am in a battle with him. The constant playing referee between him and his brothers, constantly having to keep him busy, constantly feeling like a broken record because he does not listen at all. I AM EXHAUSTED.

Yet, these traits aren’t the only reason why I decided it was best to get him evaluated, it was actually his oldest brother, Adonis, that was the catalyst of having his younger brothers evaluated.

Adonis is our oldest, and the reason why I started this blog (Raising Baby Boy) 15 years ago when I was pregnant with him. Wow, typing that really made me gasp aloud. Yikes.

Anyhow, Adonis was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in June of 2023. After years of fighting and advocating for him, I finally was able to get answers, but getting my answer wasn’t the relief I had I hoped for. Adonis struggles with his diagnosis, and we have been struggling with navigating his diagnosis as well as navigating teenage hormones. Adonis struggled a lot with getting along with his brothers— more so with Leo and that’s been the case since Leo was a toddler. Adonis is sensitive to noise, doesn’t like music with lyrics, sometimes has a hard time with non verbal cues and socializing. He loves to build with Legos, play Geometry Dash, and adores cats. Adonis is a smart kid who sees the world black and white so sometimes navigating the gray area of life pose as a challenge for him. He’s still figuring it all out, as he should as an almost 14 year old boy though. I love him and although this journey is difficult right now, I have faith he will grow to accept this special part of him, and come to some understanding of his challenges so he may grow to advocate for himself.

After going through the evaluation with Adonis though, some of the questions in the evaluation made me think of Luca and after talking with a few close friends about Luca’s history of developmental delays and other signs I requested he be evaluated. In February of this year, Luca was evaluated and diagnosed with Level 1 Autism Spectrum disorder. I actually kind of took Luca’s diagnosis a bit hard because during the evaluation process I was second guessing myself, and I guess subconsciously prepared myself to hear that he wasn’t on the spectrum, so when I was presented with the results it felt like a punch in the gut. Not because of the diagnosis, because I questioned my gut feeling. I felt guilty for missing some of the signs and what I could’ve done better to be more attentive to his needs.

Luca is going to be 12 this year. I really don’t have anyone around me who’s had their children diagnosed with Autism in the preteen/teen stage, and in the grand scheme of things it’s not that big of deal but this feels hard navigating three new diagnosis at once. I have been playing referee with three very different personalities for such a long time without context that I feel like I need to start from scratch. I have lost my patience over the years and as much as my husband tries, I feel like I’m navigating this alone for the most part.

I love my boys so much- their quirks and all. I wouldn’t change them in the slightest; they are each special in their own right. I just don’t want to fail them as their mother. I want to parent more with patience and understanding. Meet them where they’re at.

So here we go, my journey as a Mama who struggles with ADHD herself parenting three awesome kids with their unique set of challenges.

Happy endings for sure! I’m not a movie person because movies get me emotionally invested and I find that draining, so I usually stick to animation studios like DreamWorks and Pixar or watch comedy movies!

What are your hobbies?

I draw and write when I have the energy! I also play a handful of video games. I’m an avid Legend of Zelda fan and adore games such as Majora’s Mask, Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, and more titles. I’m also a big Animal Crossing fan! New Leaf is my childhood game (along with Minecraft) so I find a lot of comfort in that. I’m hoping to pick up Stardew Valley again with the new update as well as F1 games and possibly some WRC games? I’ve not looked too into those yet but they’re on my list to play.

Do you have any pets?

I do! I have a gorgeous calico cat and a stunning black cat. They’re both dorks I love them dearly

How tall are you?

5’3!

Favorite subject at school?

At the moment I really love my Psychology class and am considering majoring in it, but I’m not commited due to the amount of schooling it takes.

Dream job?

I’m honestly not sure - this is a big thing for me because I have no idea what I want to go to school for or do. I’m considering water reclamation, children’s therapy, or possibly something in accounting? There’s lots of options to choose from!

according to my mother it’s the phonetic spelling (it is not) of Michaela Quinn medicine woman bc she liked the way Sully, specifically, pronounced the woman’s name but she did NOT want people nicknaming me Mike so fast forward to last year when one of my coworkers nicknamed me Mickey,,,,,momsauce was,,,,devastated,,

2. When was the last time you cried?

*Noir Detective Voice* Thursday, January 5th, 2022, hours before being diagnosed with COVID-19 and unknowingly six days into actually having it,,,,,ngl if i was like, a cartoon character, it would have been adorable and i find it infuriating but i fully did the, eyes swimming, valiantly holding back tears, until momsauce looks at me and FLOODGATES AND “I really don’t feel good” AND *STARTS SOBBING*

yes i have two daughters, Amicia de Rune and Wednesday Addams thank you for asking

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

i don’t think what i use even counts as sarcasm, it’s too obnoxious

Happy Endings, though Bittersweet is also good. I like to have my emotions wrung out and turned into a baseball bat which is then used to ALMOST murder me but then the ending turns out to be a highly competent doctor which then Heals Me and waters my crops and builds me a little house in the countryside to live out my days in peace

8. Any special talents?

i think my developing-stories hobby counts as a talent? it doesn’t really qualify as ‘special’, but i do be coming up with some Stuff and can make some pretty big leaps from very small prompts on the fly, which i didn’t realize until a friend pointed it out.

oh, also don’t know if it counts as a talent since there’s no on and off switch on it but irl people tend to come tell me their problems/backstory/any Drama(tm) they have going on even if we’ve barely spoken before that so

10. What are your hobbies?

Painstakingly outlining stories and then usually not writing them, daydreaming about Blorbos, analyzing fiction, crochet, painting, sewing, a few little videogames.

11. Have you any pets?

YES i have three boys their names are Norrell, Chellers, and Eggroll. Eggroll is actually the eldest, he is gray and fluffy and smaller than the others. He was an outside cat until last August, when we moved and brought him with us. He has been thoroughly enjoying his retirement from the outside cat life. Norrell is SealPoint and Squishy and has big paws and Chellers is a fluffy black cat with no bones, they’re both four. These three are perfect and silly and i love them so much

12. What sports do you play/have played?

I played Red Rover once. OH!! I did paintball once. I think we used to play foursquare fairly frequently. 

13. How tall are you?

Last time i was actually measured it was 5′1/2″ but i think it’s more like 5′2″ now, surely.

14. Favorite subject in school?

Originally it was Math but then we hit that part where Math was work and Language Arts was intuitive and it’s been Language/related ever since.

Randomest update ever

I just finished watching the rest of Miraculous (S6???? ep 15-26)

I HAVE SO MUCH ON MY MIND OMG, so I will put a collective of all my thoughts in this tiny device. Maybe a few AU’s here and there, but mainly thought dumps.

First… WE COULD HAVE HAD ZOÉNETTE???? Like Zoé and Mari? I can see it now! Zoé and Mari holding hands as they walk off into the distance with Adrien in the background with this face;

No but srsly, it would have been so funny to see the ship, the show had been egging on for years, to be completely disregarded and tossed aside.

I would draw that vision, but alas, I CANNOT DRAW PEOPLE 😭

Tbf, Zoé and Mari actually make sense. Or Zoe’s side of the affection anyway. Marinette had helped her realize that nobody would treat her like garbage, aside from Chloé, there in Pari. All she ever did was respect Zoé. That’s enough to have someone’s adoration (see what I did there? ;>) …probably.

Anyway, Hawk-Moth… This dude… I love villains, believe me, I do, but I don’t like Gabes. He’s been bested by two/a team of teenagers too many times, and even when he’s so close to victory, SO CLOSE, he fails. again, and again, and again! I like Lila more because she actually commits to the role of the villain. Gabes is better when it comes to not villainy.

ONTO THE COOLER…NESS. Now, I suppose you all (or whoever is reading this) understand how the Miraculous of the Snake works. The ability to go back to an exact moment in time with Second Chance.

Now, what if that power had… a consequence? For instance, Ladybug had gotten hit and her wildest dream had been revealed. When Luka used Second Chance, it sent him back, yes, but what if it created a whole nother world? What if anytime Second Chance is used, it creates another world for another possibility? Meaning that the old world, the world Ladybug’s identity was revealed, has its own story after Second Chance is used. As well as the world where Cat Noir’s identity was revealed.

So then what happens to the holder? I’d say that their consciousness is transferred to the new world, which is how they retain their information. Well, what happens to their bodies? Hard to say, but maybe their consciousness is replaced and they’re forced to de-transform. Or maybe Second Chance doesn’t work when tried again.

I see an AU that goes like this—Luka opens his eyes only to see Marinette still living her wildest dreams. He used Second Chance already. Why didn’t time rewind? He sees the dreams man aiming for Cat Noir, and swiftly saves him. They run away and hide in the sewers. Luka tries again and again, but Second Chance won’t work. They both de-transform and Sass explains to Luka why Second Chance won’t work, or rather, it did, but Luka wasn’t transferred to the new reality, all while Adrien is gapping over the fact that Mari is LB. Second Chance won’t work even if he transforms again.

The two of them now have to face the “live your wildest dreams” man without Second Chance, or the Luck of the Ladybug. Can they do it?

The Miraculous of the Ladybug still exists, it’s just that dream man has it.

Will I write it? Probably not. It’d be very cool to see someone else’s take on such an AU. Plus writing block.

I’d much rather draw about it. ALAS, I CANNOT DRAW PEOPLE. 😭😭😭😭😭

I might just have to write it, the more I think about it, the more ideas I get. CURSES.

Anyway, for the last episode, I was really rooting for Bug Noir to end Gabes. 🙄

There’s so many things I want to talk about, but those things have been long forgotten, and I need to find something else to do before I die of boredom.
