The Final Chapter of Noragami

I'll start off by saying no matter what, this is my favorite manga/anime series. It'll always be near and dear to my heart. And thank you again to @fast-moon who has put so much time in effort into this series so that we would be able to read it in English ASAP.

But here are my honest thoughts, below the cut

There are far too many open ends. As a writer and a fan, I get that it's good to leave things pretty open ended and give fans a chance to explore possibilities. But there was too much here.

Something that struck me during my read of the translation (as I read the raws about an hour beforehand) was the absence of Nana. Arahabaki and Shiho are at the hanami, why not her? Especially since she's got a bond with Bishamon as well.

Is Nora just a free agent, doing whatever she wants? We see that Yukine still has his Hagusa name, so clearly she would still have Mizuchi. And we know Yato can't re-name her. Does she spend time with Yato and Yukine at Kofuku's house? Is she Yato's secret agent in watching over Hiyori? lol

Kazuma is the only one (aside from Nana) who survived the God's Greatest Secret without being named with the koto no ha. How is he dealing with it? Is he also having nightmares like Yukine?

Yato being 'saved' by going viral is a bit dumb especially because the posts are like "wow this guy is doing like a 10 year old meme lame" etc so it didn't seem like it should have blown up much anyway? and he also says no one actually remembers 'him'/uses his name just Teke-Teke so how does that... actually help Yato? Granted he didn't die and he has a smartphone now but I feel like he would... actually have to really be acknowledged to get money and have a shrine other than Hiyori's shrine (which btw what happened to THE DAMN SHRINE??? its on the cover but the chapter??? absent)

"I'll give you all of me" and dramatic crying/kiss but then Yato just seems so... detached. granted I KNOW it's because of the near shore/far shore and he doesn't want to endanger her again and just looks over her and it's a trope that's been in a million fanfics including mine but it just feels so off and bluh to NOT GET ANY RESOLUTION OTHER THAN HIYORI JUST RECOGNIZING HIM and then a line in the journal about how he tried to play it off.

I can't even think of everything tbh there's just a lot I want answered that wasn't...

I would say the best part of this chapter was the stuff about Fujisaki. It finally answered that he was 'born' with Father present inside of him and they kind of switched back and forth. Although again that leaves the question of how much was Fujisaki and how much was Father in terms of hitting on Hiyori/how much did Fujisaki know about Father's antics. I also love that Yato still hates him anyway even without Father LOL

lastly father was this giant cataclysmic force in Yato's life for literally over a thousand years and he's finally free. and we really get no reaction in regards to that. And that is especially disappointing when it's a major theme of the manga as a whole, you know?

idk that's my piece for now. I'm sure I'll have more to say in the coming days/weeks/months/etc but I hope and pray there's maybe any sort of small addition to the tankobon release.

it did mention "please look forward to adachitoka's next work" but I think that was just like a publishing nicety. I think noragami's ending was rushed due to their ongoing health problem and/or pressure from the publishers and I honestly don't see them coming out with a new series any time soon.

Abby would be so concerned the first time you brought home a stray cat. It was pouring rain and you found this soaked through lil void of a cat huddling next to your building, so obviously you had to take her in! you get her inside, after coaxing her into your jacket, and ur sitting in the bathroom, holding her in a clean dry towel after having already dried her off to the best of your ability, when Abby comes home. Just a side note, I think she loves calling out “honey I’m home” or some variation on that bc she thinks it’s cute. And ur like “pls don’t freak out, I’m in the bathroom.”

So now she Is freaking out bc what kind of response is that. And then she walks into the bathroom and pauses. like. is that a cat. And ur like, yeah :] can we keep her?

Abby tries to convince you not to, but the cat is already so attached, all cuddled up in your lap, purring, that she couldn’t bear making you part with the cat. So that’s how you and Abby get your first pet together! You name her Soot, short for Soot Spirit, and she becomes ur guys child!

And it’s like another three months until the next incident. She comes home and Soot is meowing at the front door, waiting for her like “mom come look at this bullshit” bc when Abby finds you, ur playing with a lil pitbull puppy in the bathroom! and she’s like. Again. And ur like Abby pls pls pls. And the puppy trods up to her and jumps up on her leg, giving her the cutest, well, puppy eyes, and she’s like “fucking hell ok”. and that’s ur second baby! Her name is Haley (after Dick Grayson’s pittie) and she follows Abby everywhere!!! She loves Abby so much!!! And you!!! So now you guys are mothers of two.

And then it happens again. Abby comes home to you cradling another cat, a tabby, and she’s like. Baby. We literally cannot have another pet. And u know she’s right this time :( bc the apartment is full enough with the four of you, u can’t have another baby :( and so begins the process of u n Abby rescuing animals you come across, taking them to really good shelters <3 that tabby cat btw? Nora ends up adopting him, naming him Dean n he becomes her lil guy 💕

My weird little brain came up with a backstory for Y/N because I have my delusions 🥰.

After living near her grandmother and cousin in Michigan, Connie, Bruce, and she moved to Illinois. Prior to moving to California, they lived in a number of places, but California was the last place they lived before settling in Haddonfield.

Anyway, they moved to Haddonfield because shit went down in Michigan. The shit that went down was Nora murdering someone to protect her cousin and her grandmother covering it up, not telling anyone what she did.  Connie and Bruce move to Illinois gradually after Nora's grandmother influences them to do so in the wake of the killing. 

I created this little backstory for my version of Y/N because I personally like the idea that Y/N has some similarities to Michael. In spite of that, she does not kill based on voices in her head, but rather out of love for the ones she loves or those she considers "family". As she sees it, it is essential to protect those who give you conditional love and some sort of support.

Having been separated from her cousin and grandmother, and then seeing her own imperfect family crumble because of the divorce, she clings to Michael, who is rarely affectionate, but is always present in her life and chooses to be with her out of all those around her. This makes sense to me, given that Connie barely shows her any affection or love, and her father barely even appears anymore. From here, Nora loves and cares for him throughout the years as if he were a member of her family. Therefore, she seems not to have ratted him out to the police and stays by his side. 

I know very well that none of this is canon to the actual story, therefore it is only my version of Y/N. I just like being extra and adding backstories to reader inserts because I have no life. 

(Still, a few kinks I gotta work with the backstory, and might make more art of her later, I just have to get good at said art. Btw I'm talking about the og story, not the au fluff story. Also i already know some9ne made a story based off of this on AO3, and its actually really good.)

as someone who read tfc for the first time almost 10 years ago and is having a blast with tsc and the series revival i'm very curious to know if you have any thoughts/opinions on the books/the story on it. I’ll TL;DR at the end because I have a lot of thoughts on AFTG and am taking this opportunity to yap lol

I’ll preface this with a few things just so my opinions exist within a specific context rather than like, a biasless void:

1. I read the series only to be in a similar fandom space with a friend of mine. She enjoys it a lot, and I enjoy her brain a lot, so even if I didn’t care for the series I would be at least One Foot in through the door of the AFTG world because I really love her characterization and takes and analysis etc etc you get the gist - I have an INCREDIBLY curated space to talk about it and the vast majority of my enjoyment for the series comes from that

2. I personally, have a few gripes here and there with Nora Sakavics writing. I think she’s a good writer pretty consistently and an Excellent one in certain scenes, so I don’t mean this as a slight to her skill, rather just establishing my bias of not really being the biggest fan of the way she deals with certain topics and the way she structures her story. This is totally a personal preference though, I can’t stress that enough

3. I haven’t read TSC yet, and either avoid or haven’t gotten around to reading Nora’s extra snippets and points of characterization outside of what exists in the books. Like I refuse to accept Andreil cat names sort of thing. Lol.

OK-

I’ll start with the stuff I like:

1. I looooveeeeeee… love these characters deeply. The Foxes are so cute and awesome and I like that their general vibe is “they hate each other but they hate everyone else more.” I know the principles of the Foxes is that they’re found family, and I get that, but I’m happy Nora wasn’t afraid of making them antagonistic or abrasive with each other, and that it doesn’t become a “and then, through Neil’s efforts, they all REALLY get along !!!” Like. Seth and Kevin actively hating each other, and Kevin not backpedaling on that when Seth dies, was both terrifying and engrossing, because it made me realize just how much smaller their already small circle becomes. Dan is so fun, Matt is so fun, Allison is SooooooOooOOOOOO Awesome. Jeremy was lovable from the get go. I like all the characters - I care for their… character sheet? More than I care about the story, if that makes sense?

2. To be honest I was less positive about it at first but I actually love this invention of a sport LOL the name is cool too… Exy…

3. I genuinely think Nora is Good at making scenes exciting and giving you that “jaw drop” moment with exactly the amount of fanfare the scene needs. It was intensely enjoyable to read AFTG because I was Constantly feeling something and wanting to see how something unravelled, and I didn’t know when she would Drop That Big Moment next. AFTG is a lot of great things, but if I had to choose one thing, it would be how great Nora was at making me antsy about what comes next.

4. It’s funny. OK! IT’S FUNNY! I laughed a bunch of times. It Has Funny Dialogue. Early Andrew made me crack up multiple times and the way his general actions were written were perfect LOL

5. Generally really happy that Nora wasn’t afraid of pulling any punches with the themes presented in the story. Very tragic and intense! I’m always eager to read content that is willing to explore that stuff so I’m happy the book Had That to the degree that it did

6. It has Nicky Hemmick and Kevin Day in it. I am obsessed with both of them.

And then there’s stuff I’m in the middle about, where I like it sometimes and I don’t at other times. It’s up in the air, I can make a case for not liking and make a case for loving it:

1. Neil not describing anyone’s physical appearance properly like. Ever. And I don’t know if this is a Nora thing or if this is a Neil thing, if that makes sense. Because on one hand, I’m like ok yeah it would make sense that Neil Josten does not care to comment about the way people look, but we get SO LITTLE outside of “dark hair. Light hair. tall.” I’m like equal parts endeared and grinding my teeth at it

2. Some dialogue is really corny. But that’s okay, because I think they deserve to be corny sometimes. Corny isn’t bad, you know? It still made me kick my feet at times

3. I cannot gauge how well I think the story dealt with rough topics. I think viewing the world through a Neil lens makes it a little easier to not completely consider everything at face value, and it’s really nice that despite everything Neil could have become, he’s still intensely likable and all around Good. That being said, it’s not so much Neil’s POV that I’m stressed about as it is how the story goes around issues of other characters? I won’t take out my list of eyebrow raises but I was like, immensely Not Happy about how Matt’s addiction was dealt with. I don’t even have a problem with what Andrew did (in terms of, I don’t have a problem with that being something written into the story) but Matt’s reaction to Neil’s (rightful) horror about how he could be okay with that, and Matt being like no yeah listen trust me, it’s fine, and also my mom approved of it…. Hhhh maybe it’s for personal reasons that I don’t like how that was dealt with, but I just didn’t. Meanwhile, I thought Andrew’s backstory was dealt with well. I thought the Drake scene was handled very well, in that it moved me to numbing shock and I got nauseous and I think the details it chose to omit and include were incredibly important (had the scene been More explicit, I think I would have been less visceral? Because so much of it would have been set out in front of me, but because the vast majority of that scene was Emotions And Implication, it REALLY fucked with me, I appreciate it)

4. Nora has used verbal expo dumps enough that I Noticed it but can’t decide where I stand on it because I’m also totally of the mind that people Talk. And that’s fine. Like people in Real Life also have expo dumps about others so I’ll cut it some slack actually

And the things I don’t like…:

1. Why is Exy capitalized that drives me nuts

2. I put off reading AFTG for a while because the entire premise admittedly seemed totally not my type of story and, expectedly, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get into the whole Mafia thing. I know it’s a large part of what drives the plot forward but I genuinely have to turn a blind eye to it when I talk about my love for AFTG LMFAO like I just can’t it’s too much. I know the story has a lot of moments where you have to suspend your disbelief and I’m happy to do that because that’s the point of fiction but the mafia stuff is just like. Background noise to me. I don’t think about it. I don’t think I registered a word of what Lola said. I get that we need some source of trauma for these kids but also. Also. LMSFKDJSKLDFJ like you could easily replace the mafia stuff with something else and get the same effect but. Whatever. This is clearly like a Me Not Liking Mafia Things thing

3. Sometimes it got too corny for my taste, and certain dialogue I thought would do better as more vague thoughts. In line with me loving Neil being such a shit stirrer and short tempered, I had a difficult time with his monologue/mouth off at Riko during the ball because it felt too dramatic and rehearsed I’m so sorry Neil baby I’m totally supportive of you telling Riko off (THE INTERVIEW SCENE IN BOOK ONE WAS SSAAAUURRRRR GOOD!!!!) But other times I was like. Hiding my face behind my hands and bashing my skull against my pillow. I think the only part of that initial ball scene that I liked was Jean’s general introduction and interactions. Also I know it’s Andrew’s whole Thing when he’s on meds but some of Andrew’s lines occasionally had me scratching my chin awkwardly. This complaint mostly sizzles out by book 3 though. I liked book 3

4. I mentally retcon Andrew and Aaron’s and Riko’s heights where I can. I’m sorry. It’s for my own sanity. I don’t want to be taller than any of them in any given moment. I can accept Neil’s because I like Haikyuu also

5. I’m not satisfied with the book 3 ending.

6. I say this as someone who speaks four languages, 2 of them fluently and the other two very close to fluent - the language shenanigans of the characters in AFTG is literally so extremely batshit LMFAO I will never forget Jane texting me if I know how to say dashboard lighter in my native tongue and me being like ‘I don’t even know what that the fuck that is in English’ HAHAH like . Just. It was silly. It got silly. I don’t know how many languages Nora speaks but with the given time frames of how long they would have had to learn the languages + the context in which they learned it . Just. You’re not convincing me I’m soooo sorry!!!!

ANYWAY that’s my general review on it. The TLDR is that mafia stuff isn’t my thing and at times I struggle to suspend my disbelief but I enjoy the characters a lot and the dynamics built between them, and the fact that Nora wasn’t afraid to make the story Hurt, the characters Hurt. You know?! I’m excited to read TSC and fawn over Jeremy and the fact that I can never have him!!!

I could see Miriel calling herself mommy often particularly in the sugar mommy scenario though regularly i can't see her doing it, normally if you ask her to call you mommy or daddy she will turn a shade of red never seen on earth before.

Eliza is more of an "alpha" type once she takes over her pack, she wouldn't want it constantly but when her mate calls herr alpha it does make her grin. She would absolutely call you mommy, oh god I'm going to faint thinking about her coming back covered in blood after killing and eating a person who hurt you and being like "Did I do good mommy?"

Kassien as stated is daddy and if you want to be called mommy she will only call you it to mock you before fucking you you until you realize she's daddy.

Nikki will accept mommy, it's very soothing, just come take a nap in mommy's arms now. She'll also take daddy but she's not like devoted to the role. She will laugh directly in your face if you ask to be called daddy or mommy.

Nora would love calling her darling mommy as long as it means she can tie up her mommy. She'll also take mommy but I could see her absolutely being the type to act so submissive and calling you mommy before rearranging your guts.

Runa will try to get daddy but if you're not up for that then she'll just call you mommy instead and she'll make it weird.

Sawyer isn't like pleading for you to call her daddy or mommy but if you do either she will be pleased.

Theanna will take daddy but she mostly prefers her name.

Elisha will take mommy but she'd prefer if you were daddy or mommy.

Pauline is daddy and she takes it surprisingly seriously like sure she's fucking the shit out of you but you trust her enough to call her daddy so she has to make sure to care for you entirely, she's just so soft with you when she's not fucking you to tears because you've given her a great show of trust.

Raffie will call you mommy if you ask and she'll adore it. She will let you call her daddy though she feels weird since she just likes being very soft with you and feels like she doesn't deserve it since she lacks a spine.

Abigail wants to be called daddy, she won't force it but she would very much enjoy it if you do.

Veronia isn't into it at first until you say if she's your daddy that would make you her princess and then she's 100% on bored, no she's daddy now you have to call her that, she's your fierce daddy dragon and you're her princess.

Ainsley enjoys daddy but it's not something she's super thinking about, she won't let you have a title like that.

Skye will take mommy and she gets all blushy because she's supposed to be mommy but you're fucking the shit out of her. She'll also call you mommy if you prefer, personally calling skye mommy is cuter in my opinion because she's just so squirmy about it.

Sophie would like to be called daddy but she would call you mommy if you asked since she's a "service sub"

Darla is mommy, you can't be mommy or daddy.

Ellie would prefer to call you mommy, daddy makes her too nervous.

What are your thoughts about the fight of Ironwood vs everyone in vol. 8? I was so annoyed by it. I felt like they nerfed Ironwood so hard. Oh, and the writers decided to NOW use Marrow's semblance to stop characters before they can start fighting (the Ace Ops). Would have been nice to have consistent writing and have Marrow use that in the fight against RWBY. (Loved your review of JLxRWBY, btw. You put exactly how I felt into words.)

Well the reason you feel like Ironwood was nerfed was, in fact, because he WAS. I pulled this fact from the rwby wikia because I don’t have it in me to actually hunt down the quote, but, according to the Director’s commentary on episode 12, ‘the reason that Ironwood lost was because the writers felt that Team ORNJ deserved a win after losing to Neopolitan in Volume 7.’

So don’t worry, you’re not crazy. Ironwood absolutely got nerfed so MKEK could make sure JNR didn’t look like the jobbers we know they are. That’s plot armour, deus ex machina, and hand of the author at work, straight from the horse’s mouth. No one is allowed call MKEK good writers ever again, do the words 'kill your darlings' mean nothing anymore?

Anyway, this fight. It’s crap. Honestly a lot of the fights in vol8 are just really bad, that volume was just a disgrace in every way. Personal gripe: the song that plays over it, ‘Be Strong and Hit Stuff’, is probably my least favourite song on the entire vol8 album and considering all of them on the whole suck except for the one that was not written for the show, that’s a low bar. Most of why I hate this song is because Nora is without a doubt my absolute least favourite character in the whole show, but it’s also just. I’ll do song rankings one day.

It's just the same style of formulaic combat that rwby does in every fight of the entire volume. It’s just JNROW mashing their attack buttons until they get a decent combo. And the qrow and robyn and marrow vs the other ace ops scene? Don’t even talk to me about that, so Marrow suddenly has the guts to stop fighters in their tracks when it’s his old team? Vol8 really took every character I vaguely liked and put a gun to their likability (except you Watts you kept slaying, I named this blog for YOU).

I mean, real quick combat breakdown: Emerald rips off Mercury’s kick and then does nothing for the rest of the fight. Jaune and Oscar trade off ‘whack ironwood with my bladed weapon/cane’ before Ren does his stupid rope trick and decides he wants to try whack at Ironwood. Ironwood is doing great here honestly, he’s just in full boxer mode, his guard’s consistently up, he recovers quickly and adapts, he lands some good blows. Jaune and Ren also quietly drop out of the fight here, because Nora is getting powered up by Winter, somehow, even though she’s never been shown to use dust ever she suddenly uses it all the time even though her weapon lacks the same sort of dust casing as Weiss so where’s this come from you’d think she’d have used it against Cinder when she was literally getting killed but WHATEVER-

Anyway Nora gets the first major relevant hit on Ironwood because literally of course she does, we cut off to Marrow being a turncoat, and then cut back to Winter and Oscar riding a Manticore while Nora joins Jaune and Ren and Emerald in ‘not existing in this fight sequence anymore’ land, and apparently they just decided after getting one hit in they’d pause to get on an animal instead of continuing attacking, this fight makes no sense.

Anyway, Ironwood destroys the Manticore barehanded, king shit, Winter hits him with the ice dust she suddenly uses, Oscar poke attacks, and right when ironwood’s about to knock this kid out of the stratosphere, Winter uses some sort of flashy finishing move that is literally ripped from Kill La Kill I see those studio trigger sparkles. Again, also makes no fucking sense either, what even is this, and don’t tell me ‘rule of cool’ because it wasn’t cool, it was lame. And also, so much for ‘give JNRO a win’, they can’t even stick to their own favouritism because Winter does all the actual fuckin work here.

Story Context: 4/10

Fight Choreography: 1/10

Authorial Bullshit Intervention (Plot Armour, this time admitted to): 10/10

Emotional Investment: 4/10 (but only because I wanted Ironwood to at least megaton punch Jaune or Nora into outer space)

Deserved Outcome: 1/10

This took me nearly an hour to write.

He's most definitely trans, him and nora are t4t cuz ofc. He also does the Mr instead of Dr cuz of it.

He and nora wanted to start a family of their own, they had a whole room nearly done painted until the surrogate backed out at maybe 7-8 months because they changed their mind. They had a whole list of cute names: Gunther, Ludwig, Lisle, etc. There was most definitely hand-made toys for the baby too.

He knew some rouges before his incident, those being Harvey Dent, and Pamela Isley. He still talks to them every now and then.

Since Nora's sickness victor has became more malnourished, barley eating, showering, etc...he locks himself away while trying to find the cure, he also has a small territory near the docks of gothem. He has gaurds at the territory boarders and some animals now live there to escape the harsh city he doesn't mind much with the animals, but humans he'll shoo away- if they're homeless he will make sure they'll have a escort to the nearest homeless shelter, he isn't that heartless towards the helpless.

He has two rooms for guest that provide warmth and some snacks.

Harvey unfortunately being unpredictable when picking the phone up- shouting and immediately threatening before realizing it's victor than he'll be like:

HD (Harv): "Oh! Hey victor how's you doin?, how's nora by the way?"

VF: "...She's..doing fine, I suppose...her condition has slowed down very fortunately,"

Harvey is also inlove with edward and victor, he's most definitely Bi and Poly. Though he knows he could never be with victor for obvious reasons. Harvey and Edward are a duo, just doing random shit cuz they feel like it. If they wanna be fruity and steal luxurious cars? They're gonna do that. They also act fruity with one another, though edward himself doesn't think much behind the flirting, as he sees if as a platonic and mutual thing they have...but Harvey thinks otherwise :[

Harvey is afraid of acting on feeling while Harv isn't since most of his actions are from impulse. The two go by They/Them or He/She btw ^^ (I haven't decided on their pronouns exactly yet ;-;)

He misses his old life sometimes, where it was just him, Bruce and Gilda. He misses them both very much, Gilda moved somewhere out of gothem but Bruce's still visits him and makes time for both Harvey and Harv.

Than there's Ivy always talking with victor, when she has time of course just checking to make sure he's okay, victor has developed an eating disorder since Nora's sickness. She also had a huge crush on nora at one point, no questions. She's dating harley though, and they go on crime spree honeymoons btw.

She often resides in the abandoned and overgrowth in a small part of gothem a few houese near the park. She welcomes and allows the homeless to stay as long as they don't harm the plant life there and stay away from her and her hideout.

She will immediately take out any species in her park that she sees as invasive and a danger to the wildlife there.

Introducing my super cool RWBY rewrite that is definitely better than literally anything

Hey guys, this is my RWBY fanfiction universe. All ideas are mine, I just think... I dunno, RWBY kinda sucks so I'm making my own, better version. I'll call it... RWBY: Rescued or some other vaguely pretentious title, idk. Hey, John and Jane RWBYson! Thanks for subscribing to my project! Or anonymously stalking it? It's hard to tell sometimes.

Now I know I already introduced Team RWBY, and everyone loves them, I'm happy! I'm just gonna add a little dude here, no it's fine! He's like a side character, nothing more. Like an ally, Ruby's first friend, he leads the other team, it'll be really cool I promise. His name is Jaune btw, no, NO big deal. Just trust me on this. I'm the superior writer, remember?

Um... sorry guys. Over the weekend I just got a really big spark of inspiration, like... the Muses struck me from the heavens above. So I'm sorry, but... I'm going to make a quarter of the first Volume entirely focused on Jaune, the Volume that is crucially formative to the cast and entire series, which will cause a ripple effect so bad that a consistently large number of fans dislike him in my series 10 years later, but also find it hard to imagine the story without him at this point, like a lukewarm relationship you don't know how to feel about.

But it's fine! The show is still called RWBY and I plan to deliver on that, not like those hacks at Rooster Teeth stepping on Monty's vision. That's the rhetoric I'm supposed to use, right? To make you hate me? To make me into an easy strawman to hate and dismiss? GOT IT, just making sure, lol

I'm going to voice act as him too, btw. No big deal, I'm sure this won't affect my treatment of him whatsoever. Oh, but here's Neptune. He's voiced by the other dude writing this, and we're gonna write a love triangle between the characters we voice and Weiss, one of the main leads. That counts as a character arc for her, right? Right, glad you understand. Oh, Neptune? You actually liked him and wanted him around? What are you, fucking sexist? God. Make sure to tell your friends how cool my story is

Next, I'm going to have Pyrrha's entire screentime devoted around Jaune, and even after she dies, only Jaune is allowed to process his emotions regarding her death while Ren, an Asian dude, and Nora, another girl, prop him up. I'm also going to bring her death up every two years like 2-3 times to really milk that man pain. What does Ruby the main character feel about this? Oh don't worry, she'll talk about it with another character I'll add in. I'll even have her say Keep Moving Forward™ to really sell the audience's Ruby's pain and really stoke and stir your anguish. Her anguish. Moving on.

Eh, something feels off, there's not enough conflict... Let's have Cinder run Weiss through with a spear, for funsies ig, because I have this post-it note on my monitor saying Jaune's Semblance and this is the perfect moment. I'm also gonna give Jaune this whole ass emotional outburst, 1-on-1 fight and confrontation with Cinder since she killed Pyrrha and awakened all his angst.

Ruby? Uh... yeah, she can stand there I guess. I need to remind the goddamn audience that YES, I still remember silver eyes exist, gawd. I have to do it every few Volumes or I can sometimes forget the protagonist in my female-led story exists - man what a pain, I bet I'm gonna be pressured into creating an old lady to teach her or some shit in the Volume right after this one. Whatever, I'll have her disappear in 2 years, they'll never know she left. Anyway OOPS Emerald knocked Ruby out, thank god she's out of the way so I can squeeze in a shot of Cinder stepping on Jaune and really rub that pain in. God, Jaune really needed this, so glad I did that

Fuck it, Jaune kills Penny too. I dunno, it just feels right, y'know? Nah... I don't think Ruby or anyone is the right person for this, and I don't think we've really, one hundred percent explored just how deeply Jaune can angst over dead women; women who could have grown into full, complex people with rich arcs and relationships using all the screentime I parasitically extracted from them via sudden, unwarranted death. Penny, like, she really needs to fuckin' die for this. Her death is worth having to retread this same tired fucking emotional arc if it's for my boy, know what I'm sayin'? Good, glad you understand

Alright, it's the Volume finale. Team RWBY and Neo are falling into the next story arc. Great, people really wanted this - an entire Volume just focused on the title characters together. The fans have been on my ass asking for this since Volume fucking Four. It's alright, I GOT THIS. I FUCKING GOT THIS! It's simple! This is perfect. But... I mean, I shouldn't... but I really... SDGDSGDED FUCK IT, fuck you, Jaune falls in with them too

John and Jane RWBYson: "God, this is why I hate rewriters who think they can write a good story with RWBY. They love making white men the focus of their self insert fantasies while shoving female characters into the fridge and off to the side, all while using Monty's name to rile people into brainlessly supporting it.
