not to sound pretentious but sometimes i will go on goodreads and feel as if ive landed on another planet. one star reviews saying "the main characters have toxic relationship/friendship" "the main character is an awful person, she's unlikable" "the prose was too extravagant" IS THAT NOT WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR ...??????

Note
aro culture is getting really annoyed with the relationships unit in your sociology class because the whole thing is just 100% amatonormativity.
:\
if think your teacher, professor, and/or TAs might be interested in discussing the concept, I have some idea of bringing up the topic?
I'd personally say something like, "Hi, During our section in sociology around relationships, I couldn't help but think it would be interesting to discuss how a sociological theory called "amatonormativity" might relate to these lessons. I gathered a few sources from the professor who coined it, a thesis written on it, and a law review written about the connection between it and laws in the USA. There's some connections between its use in feminist thought and in queer theories, and I'd love to know your thoughts about it. I personally was thinking of when [specific statement] was said, and how I would apply this theory. I hope it's as interesting to you as it is to me."
Coiner's current webpage: https://elizabethbrake.com/amatonormativity/
Thesis: https://vc.bridgew.edu/honors_proj/330/ (click download in upper right hand corner for the PDF, depending on the individual it may be worth downloading and sending that rather than a link)
Law Review: https://uclawreview.org/2022/06/09/amatonormativity-in-the-law-an-introduction/

irdgaf if people like The Timeless Child/Flux storyline or not, but if you are unironically saying that RTD made The Timeless Child/Flux good because David Tennant looked sad and yelled a bit, I am sincerely hoping you break all your fingers simultaneously :)

Imagine there is an area in the library you and Binah often come to relax in. And you figured it would be nice to plant something in here to decorate it. And you just "happen" to also plant things she could use in tea making like lavender or mint.
Happy international tea day by the way.
i think the Library should have a greenhouse. just for fun
while the Library can technically manifest anything, it requires practice and a stable mind. fresh fruits and leaves and flowers don't do very well, so you've taken to growing your own after getting permission from Angela, scrounging a few seeds from around the Library and clearing out an empty room made of glass. it's slow going at first, with only a few sprouts to your name, but eventually your coworkers catch on and begin giving you any seeds they find and your garden begins flourishing. small tables appear for people to sit at and enjoy the foliage, inhaling the scent of herbs and flowers. you bring occasional bundles of tea supplies to Binah with a broad smile, saying that you had extra, and she looks at you with soft dark eyes and carefully takes them from your hand, brushing her hand against yours
you start finding packets of seeds waiting for you at a table in the corner of the room, tied with a silky black bow and accompanied by a steaming hot cup of tea, always in whatever blend you happened to give Binah that week

I don't know why but is just so comforting warm to see all of seventeen cooking together and dividing chores and then taking over for someone else while cooking and those who are not cooking look for jobs to do like cleaning up immediately or setting the table or test tasting and everyone complimenting everyone on their cooking or a smart idea they gave and then having dinner together and really savouring the food and complimenting it and being relaxed and then talking about having to clean up and let's do it together and woozi saying he will do half and hoshi saying he will do the other half and then deciding to take turns as there was only one faucet everyone else basically cleaning up other things while properly stacking the dirty plates for woozi and hoshi to clean and then both of them also properly stacking the clean plates and just- the domesticity, the wholesomeness, the effort, the love, the affection, the willingness and desire to do something to help around and be with the members, the gentle bickering and ribbing and encouragement and the freedom to cook in your style and the solutions freely given if something goes wrong and just the gentleness and warmth and the comfort of being with your people.

areori is kind of insane when you think about it like having yuriko die in the first like 10 minutes of the installment is already flabbergasting on its own but the way it's so adamant on not letting asuto grief her properly is sick honestly. when the show started we didn't even know about her existence until we see her literally on her death bed. asuto probably cried himself to sleep for one night and just as the sun rose he's already getting dragged from his lonely home to the school, where the school board decided to downright destroy the only thing that could keep him going. in the exact same FIRST episode he already decided to leave his home island to participate in FF. yuriko's last words had been trodding along his journey but ares is kind of barely about asuto. the only time I know he's actively grieving was when her letter finally got to his homestay, and even that got cut short BY HER OWN WORDS, because she's just dropping the bomb right there, saying that his father was actually alive, in her last letter to her son. in her effort to help him find a reason after her death shes just going straight to distract him from her own death. what the fuck. right after the finals hes immediately chosen to join the national team and along with it try to defeat evil capitalist organizationTM and there was even lesser space for grieving yet yuriko's last words again echoed throughout the episodes even though her death nor the words themselves was ever truly present. then masato appeared, and asuto was sad, and he doesn't even care. his emotions were only for masato to use for his own benefits, AND to be used against asuto's real father at that. asuto's reconciliation with shinjou is at the end of the day about him and his father, and his mother and his father. it was about her death as much as it wasn't.
and we don't even see her funeral.
