i apologize in advance if my thoughts on the ship seem very much all over the place lol.

on one hand, i understand the appeal! i have some friends/moots that share beautiful zutara fanart/fics that i very much enjoy! it's a ship that i very much understand it's significance and impact it's had on not just this fandom, but throughout other online spaces and just shipping as a whole.

on the other hand, while i understand the appeal, it kind of shocks me how ride and die people are with the ship, specifically with how massive the ship war is, and the nasty behavior that comes with it.

it's important to note that when the show first began airing, i was only 3, and i was around 7 or 8 when the show ended. i didnt really get into it because of how young i was, besides watching snippets of s2 and 3 on nick and random amvs i stumbled upon as a kid haha.

i had my first real watch of the show about 2 years ago, and while i wasn't extremely knowledgeable on the fandom, i did hear about the infamous shipping wars in the fandom, like whispers in the wind, and how zutara should've been endgame. going in with this knowledge, let me tell you how shocked i was with the lack of canon material in the show regarding zutara. like, i had people tell me there was a legitimate love triangle happening! people still believe that!

dont take this the wrong way! im not saying you have to have a ship be canon, or for it to have a ton of canon material in order to ship it, i love rarepairs and crackships, shipping is suppose to be fun! i know zk gets hate because it isnt a canon ship and i think that's very, very silly. this is more so a response to the "zk shouldve been end game it was robbed from us etc etc", because i'm sorry, but i didn't see this at all while watching the show. it was very clear to me what was suppose to be endgame.

i do understand that it was a different culture back when the show was airing, in the sense that there was tons of marketing material teasing zutara, thus people were upset with the writers when it didn't happen, but it makes me wonder if this is truly the fault of the atla crew, or the fault of the marketing department, and nickelodeon seeing how popular shipping was and asking it's marketing department to hone in on this to draw in numbers. most of the time the people behind a show don't get a say in how the marketing works y'know? ANYWAYS! Back to the actual ship! I don't like when people water down katara and zukos characters for the ship. I don't like the treatment aang receives from more hardcore fans, painting him to be some awful, no good, horrible partner of katara and friend of zuko. zuko and katara are ride and die for aang, if there was an aang fanclub, they're the ones who started it and they're fighting every week over who gets to be president lmao. i really dont like when this treatment gets extended to sokka and toph, treating them like bumbling idiots that katara is stuck with until zuko comes in to save the day because he's 'oh so mature, much more mature then those other 3 fools, and the only one who gets katara' which just. isn't true.

I like when people don't water their characters down and really focus on how chaotic they'd be, or the fact that they're still just teenagers! I like when people don't throw away Aang, and even in a zk universe aang is still close friends with them and their number one supporter. i like when they don't throw away kataras relationship with sokka or toph, and they're still just as important in her life.

final thoughts

it's fine! im not crazy over it but i understand the appeal. shoutout to my zutara moots, love the stuff you create, don't ever stop! besides sharing some zk art, you probably wont see zutara art coming from me, im much more focused on pushing my 'platonic shit talking wine drinking zuko and katara besties' agenda bahaha.

thats marisa kirisame, self-proclaimed ordinary magician, and shes the series deuteragonist! i love her to pieces

she first showed up in the second title, touhou fuumaroku ~ the story of eastern wonderland., which was the first game in the series to be a shmup and the first to have dialogue, so in many respects you could consider her basically around since the start of the franchise. in it, she appeared as a boss fight, but from then on she became the secondary playable character option. shes appeared in more games than reimu has by now actually!

marisa is a human from the human village in gensoukyou who ran away from home to pursue magic. she lives in a shop* she set up in the forest, where she spends her time researching magic and danmaku to improve her skills.

personality-wise, marisa could be best described as tomboyish (i hate this term too but its the quickest way to get her deal across), especially near the beginning of the franchise. she's talkative, quippy, and confident in herself. her trademark manner of speaking includes a lot of "-ze" at the end of phrases, just to hammer this in. as a kid she often behaved in rude or impulsive ways, but in the later parts of the series she's matured quite a bit, and comes across a lot more well-adjusted than reimu in many regards.

speaking of which, marisa is a fun contrast to reimu in tons of ways. although her laissez-faire attitude often makes her come across as rather lackadaisical compared to reimu's jaded, practical outlook on her role in gensoukyou, marisa is much more free-spirited, self-driven, and passionate about her craft. as doc has phrased it in this very very good stream (which i highly recommend as an intro explanation to the franchise despite its length), marisa is "an incredibly hard worker, and doesnt want anyone to know it." compared to reimu, we get narration from marisa's perspective very often, and get a lot of insight into her outlook through it. she serves as the emotional intelligence and learned experience to contrast with reimu's pragmatism, making them a fantastic duo dynamic as the protagonists of the franchise.

she does a lot of research into how to improve herself by analyzing the spells of other characters in the franchise, and determining how best to incorporate their patterns into her own moveset of danmaku—you could consider her an "open source programmer" of magic. her most well-known spell card, love sign "master spark", is a danmaku pattern she borrowed from yuuka kazami, while adding her own touches like the extra star bullets to truly make it her own.

also because i talked about trans subtext for like every other one of these infodumps i should mention she has a lot of that. her given name is made up of extremely unusual kanji (like the "ma" being taken from "mahou" meaning magic), especially compared to her very straightforward last name, which makes it really likely that she chose a name for herself. not to mention the whole "running away from home because your family wont let you be a magician" thing is ripe for analogy. also she lives in the forest and scavenges mushrooms and learns magic what more explanation do you want from me

theres probably more i should add about marisa because shes got so much depth but i cant think of more to elaborate on right now. shes great. if you get into touhou you will see a whole bunch of her, and she will make you love her without fail!

*she calls it a shop, but no one seems to show up and buy anything since it's in the middle of nowhere, nor does she seem like shes interested in selling whatever she has on hand in there.

i love talking about the thoughts bumpin around my noggin

i just had my first week of classes so im mostly thinkin of those and the 2 im excited about are my rethinking meuseums class and a film class on chinese culture and history.

so i took this museum class cus 1) i had to fulfill credits, and 2) i LOVE meuseums. ive traveled a lot, and ive visited a ton of meusums, from the acropolis meuseum in athens, greece, to the jolly green giant museum next to the jolly green giant statue in minnesota. i love reading little plauqes and learning about stuff, especially if its hands on or art.

but this class is super cool because 1) we get field trips!!! i thought my field trip days were over, but now i get to go to museums for free durring class!! 2) we get to talk about colonialism and how that influences how our museums currently operate. from their layout, lighting, showcases, accessibility, intractivity, and other ways the art, artififacts, knowledge, and creators are presented (or not presented).

ive always been intrested in history and shown how events have caused domino effects and colonialism has a huge effect on the world we live in, and meuseums is a specific instance of that that ive been exposed to, and i really want to learn how to unlearn the ideas that has imposed on me, and show me the choices they are making that influence my opinions without me even knowing. (for example my home art meuseum, the art institute, has all the european classic art and modern art on the top floor, while the asian, african, and photography (which has a large collection showcasing black, queer, and womans issues) are on the first floor and basement. and how the work on the top floor is very well light, while the other floors have dimmer lighting.) didn't even think about that, and I've been in the art institute over half a dozen times the past 2 years!

also a ton of other people in my class are also passionate about this stuff so its nice to know im not gonna be the only one who cares about this class :D

also!!! ive met someone who likes the ghoul boys! i was reading my unsolved book during break and they struck up a conversation about them with me! so thats super fun :)

my exploring chinese culture via film class is gonna be amazing too becuase i know thats a huge blindspot i have in knowing about the world and i really want to change that. so i get to explore and learn about that while also watching films. im hoping this class isnt too hard work wise (watching documentaries takes up alot of time i dont exactly have) but the professor seems to be understanding that we have our major classes to worry about. (also! she gave us snacks for chinese new year :D)

the class is discussion based (the class time, luckily i dont really have to do discussions online). and the people in my class have really good thoughts and ideas! we have some film majors so they give insight on how some stuff is shot, and some literature majors are really good at unpacking what was said and have a ton of interesting angles about the inner complexities between the family in the documentary.

i honestly was nervous i was gonna dominate the conversation becuase i had alot of ideas and thoughts to share, but a ton of other people spoke up so it was nice to have all of us sharing opinions and takeaways.

so that was my two classes im taking for my liberal arts education. they arent for my major or minor but i appreciate them so much becuase i love learning about a ton of different topics, and i probably wont be able to be in an environment like this again so im making the most of it!! im hoping to get into learning about queer history soon, but because this is an arts school, that class fills up super quickly. picking my history class after that is gonna be stressful because theres so many good options 😰 womans history? the development of cities?? us history?? if i didn't have my ux minor, id think about minoring in history. There's so much to learn, lmao

The CGI has come a long way and using models has started taking a backseat, so it’s way easier to show off a much wider variety of ships from all our new, old friends and new, old enemies. The prequel series gets to really fill in a lot of gaps that were left wide open in the franchise, especially concerning all our ally races in the Federation, some familiar foes, and even a ton of new baddies (and that’s just the Xindi plotline alone!).

Settle in for the last leg of our ride spotting as many alien ships as we can stand. You can see all the ships we’re covering below and also listen to the banter at the tail of this week’s podcast episode (discussion starts at 57:25). It’s been a long road, but at least we’ve had some fun ships to test drive along the way.

Vulcan Surak class

Despite the fact that they’re our closest allies throughout the whole franchise, we don’t actually get to see much Vulcan technology in Star Trek. So when we finally get to see the Ni’Var, its design is just perfectly logical. This ship is so typically Vulcan in its geometric design: what other race would build a big circle into their pointy-ass ship except for our pointy-eared friends?

Andorian battlecruiser

Speaking of allies we never got to see a ton of before this: Andorians! Enterprise gives us all the blue-skinned aliens we’ve been asking for and then some! The “then some” is their battlecruiser, the Kumari, which looks kinda like the natural progression that fighter jets would follow if they evolved for space travel. They’re just stealthy and good at killing with their tons of weaponry, as Andorians are wont to do.

Tellarite cruiser

The other Federation-founding member race is the Tellarites, and though we only catch glimpses of their ships in the show, that’s not going to stop the merchanising of toys and video games. The Tellarites get an almost Romulan green to their ships, which are heavily weighted to the rear where they have what look like almost conventional rocket boosters strapped to their butts!

Orion scout ship

Okay, so I probably should have covered this ship when we covered TOS, but we only get a decent look at it in the remaster. Before that, the Orion scout ship that torments the Enterprise in “Journey to Babel” just looks like a smudgy light. The remaster gave us this spinny octagon of light balls which is quite distinct from anything else. And even more than the Species 8472 ships we discussed last week, this one gives us big space anus vibes.

Orion Syndicate interceptor

The reason I bring up the Orion scout ship from TOS is so that we can be caught up when we look at the Orion Syndicate interceptor from Enterprise. The forward-swooping wings remind us of a big ram’s head or a weird green uterus flying around in space. We don’t usually see the wings of a ship pointing forward this way, and it’s actually a pretty nice design.

Suliban cruiser

Another race we meet in Enterprise is the Suliban and they have a clutch of ships for us to look at. Their cruiser just looks like a cockroach ship. All the Suliban ships we’ll see have that same kind of ruddy brown color palette and hard metal look like they just skittered (like a cockroach!) out of a mineshaft.

Suliban long cell ship

Another Suliban ship, this one has a little piggy face on what’s essentially a long LEGO brick body. We find it interesting that it seems to be symmetrical front-to-back, which we don’t see much in ship design. We know they can hook up together, so maybe this one is designed to go both forward and backwards like an Amtrak train!

Suliban short cell ship

One more Suliban ship, clearly from that same red-brown family of dense-looking ships. Like their cylindrical counterparts above, these little spherical beads can cloak and also can link together to make a larger mass... like monkey bread perhaps. And now we’re all thinking about monkey bread and won’t be able to get anything else done until we have some.

Xindi Reptilian ship

And we’re back! Say what you will about the Xindi arc in Enterprise (and Chris is already preparing to when we get there on the podcast!), but their ships are all absolutely beautiful. We get some shades of the Son’a ships that we liked so much from Insurrection in the fanciful swooping designs in the Reptilians’ ships, but even longer and sleeker, like a needlessly elaborate butterfly. They look like they have a texture and finesse and we’re all about them.

Xindi Insectoid ship

Somehow the Reptilians’ ships look more like insects than the Insectoids’ ships, but you know what, we still like them! These ships look kinda like a grappling hook. We also don’t see a lot of ships with threeway symmetry like this ship more or less has, so that’s another point in their favor, as is their pretty bluey color. Overall, they just look like a lot of knives pointing at you, which we can respect.

Xindi Aquatic ship

Another very beautiful ship from the Xindi! Very fittingly, the Aquatics’ ships look almost liquidy, with more organic-looking lines that swoop and curve. We could list a whole bunch of aquatic creatures it reminds us of, but suffice it to say that these turquoise beauties are clearly inspired by the ocean. They also have an almost pointless hole in their design for some reason, but we can forgive that.

Xindi Primate ship

Speaking of pointless holes, the Primates’ ships have even more cutouts for some reason. We’re reminded of the speeder bikes from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi just from their long, sledlike design. When we look close, we start to spy what looks like a little Voyager spoon shape embedded in its top. Neat! 

Xindi Arboreal ship

You’re saying, “Wait, didn’t we already see this ship up above when we talked Tellarites?” And well, you’re half right since both the Arboreals’ and the Tellarites’ ships were sneaky reuses of the Arkonian warship design that we also see in Enterprise, but we’ll allow it because there have been a number of good ships already. This one has less green and more brown than the Tellarite ship and a little more texture to it, as far as I can tell.

Tholian ship

Lastly, I wanted to do a quick side-by-side comparison of the Tholian ships from The Original Series and from Enterprise. Originally, they just look like little arrowheads and it was good that they kept it simple, stupid. Now we have more CGI so there’s more texture and detailing, but it overall keeps the essence of that same simplicity, stupid. Like the new USS Enterprise from Discovery and Strange New Worlds, we find this to be a good reinterpretation of TOS design without badly overhauling it.

there’s also the age difference to consider

if you’re not that much younger than him, he’ll definitely be a lot more teasing

not in the intense bully type way (cuz thats not him) but more of the lighthearted teasing vibes

he’s also a very supportive brother

if you have any hobbies he’s sure to acknowledge and remember it and even maybe help you out in any way he can (if you like art he buys u art materials etc.)

and if ever he hears that youre being bullied in some way, he’ll do anything he can to help you

he wont necessarily beat up the bullies but maybe just intimidate them a little

just a bit ;)

also im 100% sure at least 2 of your friends have a crush on him

overall he’s a rlly nice sweet brother but the one thing that he’s not great at is showing weakness in front of you

she would take you out shopping and exploring the city and she’ll even point out some cute people along the way who seem like your type

yes she knows ur type

when it comes to school, she’s very reliable and usually has some notes you can use to study

if there’s a topic you don’t understand she’ll also help explain it to the best of her abilities

she always asks for your opinion on her outfits and when she was designing her hero costume, she asked you for so. much. advice.

she probably also taught you how to braid hair so you can style her hair on days she’s feeling extra fancy

all your friends know her as “nejire nee-chan” and whenever theyre around she becomes the embodiment of a good older sis

she doesn’t know all your hobbies but if you decide to tell her/if she finds out about them she’ll be vv supportive of it

tamaki, although you might not see it, is a really really protective brother

if anyone talks smack about his lil sibling,,,, then well :”) rip them i guess

which is weird because he’s usually so unsure about things but when it comes to you he won’t hesitate to do whatever he can for your well-being

he has this idea in his head that he’s gotta be a strong older brother so if you’re around during training or when you were watching during the sports festival, he’ll try extra hard just to live up to that image

in a way you’re like his confidence booster

but there are times when insecurities get to him and he feels like he’s not doing good enough

when that happens you have to get all dramatic and pull out the speech about how he’s the best brother you could ask for and that as long as he’s trying to do his best, even if that best isn’t rlly great rn, you’re proud of him

The brothers are unaware that their s/o is a mermaid since they hid themself amongst humans and pretended to be one. But since they’re in the Devildom and they miss the ocean, they’ll take really long baths in the bathroom while in their mermaid form whenever they can. It's been a rough week the heat in the Deilvdom Is already above average but this past week has been the worst it's almost unbearable and I want nothing more then to get home so I can soak myself for a while. I've been doing that most days anyway but now it's more out of need than a want. Another hot day and another need for a long bath only this time I would get to relax for even longer! 'Everyone should still be at RAD for the meeting" With how hot it was Diavolo said it would be okay for me to head back so I didn't risk passing out so I would have at least an extra hour before anyone got home! Fully submerged in cool water my Iridescent tail just slightly hanging out I let myself unwind from the week. "Other than the heat things have been good I've kept my grades high and tomorrow we'll be going on a date" My lips pull into a smile as I muse not noticing the sound of knocking or the worried voice of my partner calling out to me it seems only natural this would happen one day but opening my eyes to the shocked face of my lover wasn't how I planned it.

Though fully shocked by the news that you're apparently a kind of merfolk he is also in stunned awe

𝟷. 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚊 𝚐𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚝𝚞𝚍𝚢. finding a good place to study is very crucial for a good study session. As tempting as studying on your bed or next to the tv sounds, do not give in to the temptation, BECAUSE I BET THAT 99.9% of the time you will not end up studying. ( as that has happened to me way too many times to count, as i get distracted very easily ). Finding a good time to study is also very important as people are productive at different times, i for one am most productive at night at around 7-12 pm. so i end up sleeping quite late but at least i get my work done. 

𝟸. 𝚍𝚘𝚗𝚝 𝚛𝚞𝚜𝚑 𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚔. i wont stress this enough but do not rush your studying. when you rush your studying you will not retain any information. even if you are only studying for a short period of time still TAKE YOUR TIME. you will not only forget the information if you rush but you are also prone to make more mistakes. so again find a time to study where you can take as much time as possible and do it at your pace. 

𝟹. 𝚕𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝚌𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚜. yes i’m talking to you, the amazing person reading this, since i bet you don’t listen in class  i am guilty of not listening in class on occasion as my brain will turn to mush if i am staying still for too long. But listening in class helps a ton, its also good to take notes during class which also helps you focus. listening in class saves a lot of time for you after class when you want to study by yourself as you pretty much already know most of the content. rather then not having payed attention in class then having to learn everything by yourself 

𝟺. 𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔𝚜. always! always! always! TAKE BREAKS! it’s never good to just continue doing one thing for hours on end, you’ll most likely either get burnt out and nothing in your head will be working by the third hour and you’re just going to have to revisit everything again ( which happens around 90% of the time to me when i study too long ) it’s never good to study for too long so make sure you study in intervals and place breaks in between to not tire yourself out quickly. 

𝟻. 𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚗𝚘𝚝𝚎𝚜. i recommend to take handwritten notes (either on the ipad or paper) either one is good. writing things down helps me remember the content better then typing out my notes. also taking down notes helps you focus in class as you are trying to absorb the information by writing it down. another tip for notes is to have two notebooks (or at least this is how i do it). i have one notebook for my messy notes where i just write everything i can absorb in class and another notebook to rewrite all of my notes in a more organized way after class or before tests. 

𝟼. 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚏𝚞𝚗 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚛𝚎𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏.  as you’re reading this you’re probably thinking that studying feels like a chore and theres no way that it could be fun. well spoiler alert you’re the one making it feel that way. when you have a mindset that studying feels like a chore then of course it’s going to feel that way. so i suggest making studying fun, and you’re also wondering how? listen to music, get nice stationary, make it a game, make flash cards, study with friends or maybe even roleplay as the person you’re studying about? who knows as the options are endless. it doesn't matter if it seems ridiculous as long as you have fun studying. and also don’t forget to reward yourself after a good study session. grab a nice snack, binge your favorite show or take a relaxing bath

LoV headcanons

This is is there toxic traits when in fights:

Dabi:

Dabi is already described as a sociopath and manipulative.  If you guys weren’t in a relationship he becomes much more aggressive, or if you try to break up he will physically harm you because he doesn’t know how to keep you.

If you guys are in a relationship he would completely degrade you, and make fun of your ‘flaws’ and not give a fuck if your crying.  He will continue to insult you in the meanest way possible.  He honestly doesn't realize boundaries with anything.

What he does to make you feel better:

After your fight, you obviously say you guys are done and leave.  He’d probably have a fake sense of relief and will either go out to just walk and go over the entire fight, or he will take a nap.  After a few weeks he will slowly come to realize how he hurt you, and realized you guys aren’t in a relationship anymore.

Him being the possessive bitch he is, will not want you with another man, female or just romantic partner in general.  He would track you down, stalk you, even go as far to kill anyone who even shows interest in you.  He will start an obsession with leaving dead bodies at your window still, or them but cut up into tiny pieces in a bowl soaking in their own blood.

You guys don’t get back together because Dabi is crazy, and to obsessed with you.  Dabi never got over you, he wont not until you come back to him.

Shigaraki:

(help i'm reading a Hawks cheating story and I have tons of Hawks posters surrounding me.  I want to commit hate crimes on our Birb)

His quirk.  You would be arguing about something simple, like a video game.  Shigaraki is impatient and doesn’t know how to control himself, he attacked you while you were in mid sentence.  He’d be overly furious, and be shouting at you to shut up.

This happened on the regular, this time Shigaraki had taken it to far.  Everyone was use to the fights, they would leave for a few hours and return like nothing had happened.  Both of you were screaming at each other at the bar about a mission where you had to leave the new guy behind to the heros.  Both of you were furious, there was no fighting, not yet anyways.

“You can treat people like that!”, you shouted at your boyfriend who was fuming, “Who gives a fuck?!”, he hissed.  “me! I give a fuck!”, you exclaimed.  You guys were in a storm, it was so much bigger while you two were in it, but once you both looked away you realized how small it was.  Shigaraki grabbed your wrist, he was sure it was 4 fingers.

He didn’t notice the small tick of his pinkie hitting your skin, he didn’t notice the pained expression you wore, or you slowly turning into an ash.  “Tomura!”, you exclaimed, he let go.  You scrambled away from him, tears were falling down your eyes.  Then he noticed your arm slowly decaying, and the scared sobs leaving your lips.  He called Kurogiri, but nobody picked up.

He was frantically trying to stop it, anything.  He grabbed a knife to cut your arm off, but it had already spread to your chest.  The fear in your eyes had him crumbled to the floor.  HIs quirk was destroying everything around him, everything he loved, cared for, everything that meant something.

He knew you’d be gone forever, the only person who loved him was dying before his eyes.  He couldn’t do anything, he’s never felt so hopeless, or so defeated.  He looked at your eyes one last time, you didn’t have to say word, and to be honest it’s better left unsaid.  The feelings still remain the same, sometimes you feel more than you see.  

All the faces Shigaraki saw, every single day, yours was the one that brought him happiness, you were the one who brought him joy and love, you were the face he needs.  And when his mind is absorbed in on screen, and he’s walking blindly through crowds of people, he hears your voice reminding him all is going to be ok.

Now you were just a pile of ash. As simple as that, forgotten, dead.

Now he truly was alone.

Hawks:

(btw guys I am so sorry for this one I love Hawks, he would never cheat on you since he is a Red Tailed Feathered Hawk but I can see him doing this, once again I am sorry)

You guys had a fight, a pretty nasty one.  He had been leaving early in the morning and coming back late at night from work.  You were mostly concerned about his mental health, I mean, yes you did stay up at night and sometimes not sleep for a week, but this was on another level.

Hawks was mad you were trying to tell him what to do, when honestly you were just concerned, and almost begging him to come back and get some rest.  He left for a good few weeks, the entire time you were worried sick the point you had to quit your job, well more of fired for not working and lack of mental stability.

When Hawks returned he seemed quiet, less joyful. You wanted to slap him, but hug him and kiss him, just do everything to him at this point.  You couldn’t bring your feet to move though, the air was thick with a pregnant silence.  He was hiding something, you could tell by the way his eyes were full of fiery spirit or joy.  Even when fighting, or upset, he would look so alive.  Now he looked dead.

He sat down at the counter, drumming his fingers against the marbled surface, “There’s something I have to tell you”, he said.  “I stayed at my assistants house”.  An odd announcement you thought, but he wasn’t done.  “She kissed me”, he stated.

You were in shock, not able to utter a word for a few seconds, “W-what....what did you do?”, you had choked out.  “There’s a reason why I was gone for a week”, he mumbled.  A pain you hadn’t known struck your chest, he had cheated on you.

He fucking cheated on you.

You wanted to cry, to scream, to punch him, to leave, but none of that came up.  The man you had once loved, the man you had thought you knew was someone else.  “I understand if you want to break up”, he mumbled.  Your chest fought for air, all this love, all this compassion, this sympathy, you had gave up almost everything for him.  

“Fuck you”, was all you managed to say before leaving his apartment.

~A few months later~

You had gotten over him, even getting into a new relationship with his Assistant no less.  To be honest she was drop dead gorgeous with one of the most beautiful personality.  You loved her with all your heart, and so did she.  Now she had forgotten her lunch at home, you frowned knowing you would have to go to Hawks agency to deliver it to her.  But you were prepared for that.

You had a knew life, you had an amazing girlfriend, you loved her, and she loved you.  Once you were preapared to go deliever the food, you left the apartment and set foreward to Hawks Agency.  Little did you know Hawks was beyond eager to see you walking towards his Agency, he maybe or maybe not had been watching the security camera footage to see if you were ever going to come back to him.  His wings flapped excitedly when he saw you opening the door with a small container in hand.

“Shoyo, Y/N is coming, let’s go meet her downstairs!”, he exclaimed happily.  Shoyo did not like Hawks anymore, seeing him for the cheating bastard he was made her want to puke.  She rolled her eyes, not thinking it was her Y/N.

She followed him down the stairs, when she saw you a smile appeared, “Hey Y/N”, she chirped happily.  “Hey bub”, you greeted back.  Wait, no, that’s Hawks nickname, and why were you talking to her?! Wouldn’t you hate her for sleeping with your soulmate?!.

Hawks was in awe when you pecked her lips softly and whispered a few obsenities into her ear, Shoyo licked her lips.  “Sounds good babe!”, she said with a blush.  “W-what?!”, hawks shouted.  You looked over at him with a confused expression.  “Why are you with her?!”, he shouted.

“she’s a great person”, you said slowly, “And I love her”.  Shoyo grinned happily, wrapping her arm around your shoulder, he was furious, how dare you date someone else, his assistant no less,

From that day on he stalked you, leaving dead birds at your door, promising to kill Shoyo if you dare even show any affection towards her.  You and Shoyo will never solve the mystery of the man who still loves you.

Plot: It’s finally Valentines Day, the day the reader will finally learn who it is that had been leaving them flowers and notes expressing their secret feelings.

February 14th

You tapped your fingers in a repeated rhythm as you read through one of your recent work files, your eyes darting to the time every few minutes, as if it would suddenly jump forward hours at a time. 

As you read over the page again, not changing or adding anything you sighed in annoyance at your own antsy demeanor. You had already finished all of your work for the day and it wasn’t event noon yet. 

Maybe you’d go for a walk around the tower? See what everyone else was up too. Slipping on some shoes, you made your way out of your room and down to the gym, you’d figure someone would be there, and maybe you’d work out a bit to shake off some of these nerves. 

As you walked into the gym you were surprised to see almost everyone there, some of their heads moving to meet you as you entered “Woah, you guy’s having a meeting you weren’t gonna tell me about?”

Steve chuckled “No, we’re just trying to get out of the way, there are tons of caterers and decorators upstairs.”

“It’s like a circus.” Bucky commented.

“Well, since no one else wants to spar with me, how about you?” Natasha asked from across the room. 

“Sure. I need the distraction.” 

“Why’s that?” she asked, though you had a feeling she knew why. 

You said as much “I have a feeling you know.” you said, squinting at her in a questioning manner. She simply smirked in response.

After changing, you and Natasha started sparring, the others watched and gave tips, though most of which were unasked for.  After a while, Steve and Buck decided they wanted a go and you and Natasha sat down for a breather. 

Natasha eyed you for a moment before talking lowly, so only you would hear “It’s gonna be alright you know.”

You looked over at her and rose your brow “What will?”

“Tonight.” She said simply.

You stayed quiet for a moment, glancing at the others around the room “What do you mean? Do you know something?” 

She chuckled “Well, it’s not too hard to figure out that all of these gifts and notes are leading up to one day, today, Valentines Day.”

You let out a long breath “Yeah. Well you’re right. But I still have no idea who it is. Do you?" 

She smirked “I have my ideas, just as I think you do.”

“Not ideas, just...hopes.” you commented.

She nodded her head “Yeah, I know” she was one of the few people who knew you had feelings for one of the others. The one, who out of all the others you wished was the one sending the notes. Tony. But the notes, and the flowers, didn’t really seem his style. He was more blunt. And you had waited long enough to start losing hope that he never felt the same.

“But like I said, it’ll be alright. Just breath and get through it. Like everything else.” 

You nodded “Yeah, I’ll try.”

Standing in front of the mirror, you wondered if your outfit suited the party, maybe it was a bit too casual. “Whatever” you muttered before going into the bathroom to finish getting ready. Whoever it was has probably seen the worst of you already so they wont mind whatever outfit you wear tonight, there is no real need to impress them. Right? Maybe you should look in your closest again. ‘No it’s fine’ you thought to yourself aggressively as you chastised your behavior. 

You had managed to distract yourself with the others until you needed to get ready for the party, and with helpful advice and kind words from Natasha, you weren’t feeling as nervous as you had been earlier. You accepted that whoever was going to confess themselves to you tonight was out of your hands. 

After checking over yourself in the mirror one more time, you got a text from Natasha telling you that people had begun to arrive. Checking the clock, you see that it’s 8pm on the dot. Well, Tony did always like punctuality, well, from other’s at least. 

Leaving your room you made your way to the elevator and up to the main party floor. When you exited, you were sightly alarmed at just how many people had shown up already. There were loud voices and laughter as people recognized others and they all greeted one another.

You took a breath as you made your way into the main room, wondering where it was you were seated for the dinner part of the night. 

“How you feeling?” a voice said from behind you, startling you slightly.

Turning you see Natasha, you smiled at her “I’m okay, I think.”

“Well, ‘okay, you think’’ is better than ‘definitely not okay’” she looped her arm through yours as you walked further into the room and found Clint and Wanda in the corner. 

An hour or so later, you were standing in the corner of the room, watching the crowd of people. You recognized about half, and knew about a quarter. Seeing someone approaching you from the side, you turned your head and saw Tony waking over, plate in hand. He was wearing a nice suit, red to match the theme. Your heart began pounding a bit harder as he came and stood next to you. 

“Having fun?”

“Of course” you said, failed honesty in your voice.  

He smirked at your answer, knowing full well you didn’t like crowded parties like this, surrounded by a lot of rich people. He held the plate out towards you “This is for you.”

Looking at the plate, you see some strawberries, orange slices, bananas and marshmallows all dipped in chocolate. Taking the plate you hesitated “Uuhh, thanks?” 

“Don’t worry, I got that before everyone started using the fountain. No cooties.” he smirked, earning a smile from you. 

You felt a bit of gratitude at this, it was nice, and a bit unusual for him to do something like that for you. Taking a bite from one of the strawberries, you were surprised at how good it was. 

Tony took a chocolate covered banana from the plate, popping it into his mouth “Good right? Got the chocolate imported from Switzerland.”

You chuckled “Of course you did.”

He smirked “Of course.” he repeated.

You saw him look over across the room with a frown. Following his gaze you see happy waving for Tony’s attention before motioning for him to come over “Looks like something important.”

“With Happy it could be that there is too long of a line at the bathroom.” as he took a step away he turned back to you and pointed at you “Enjoy the fruit, and don’t party too hard, without me at least.”

You chuckled as he walked away. You felt a pang of disappointment as he left. That would have been the perfect time for him to tell you that it was him. You tried to push that feeling away, thinking about the fact that there was no point in wanting to be with someone who didn’t want to be with you. 

Seeing some familiar SHIELD Agents across the room, you made your way over to mingle. You wanted to distract yourself.

It was getting close to midnight now as you sat at your table with Clint, Sam, Nat Bruce, Steve and Bucky. No one had made any confession to you and you were honestly beginning to think that they changed their mind. Part of you thought maybe that was for the better. But you were also a bit disappointed at the thought as well.

“I’m gonna go get some water” you said as you stood and began walking across the room.

You stopped when you saw Tony rounding the corner a bit fast and seeming a bit exasperated. Spotting you he walked over to you “Do me a favor?”

“Uh, yeah, what’s wrong?” 

“Go on the roof and see of the fireworks are ready, I was gonna get Happy to do it but I can’t find him.”

“You got fireworks? Seriously?” you scoffed, amused.

“Of course I did” he smiled “Now, can you? I need to get everyone on the balconies to watch.” 

“Oh, uh yeah sure I’ll do it.” he handed you his pass-card to his loft before you left and made your way to the elevators, thinking a bit about it you really weren’t that surprised that he got fireworks. 

As the elevator opened, you made your way into and through Tony’s loft and out onto the main roof. Looking around, you didn’t see anybody, so you walked out further, feeling a chill from the night air. Seeing some light coming from around a nearby wall, you walked over “Hello?” you called out as you rounded the corner. 

You stopped in your tracks when you saw, laid out all over the rood top, various bouquets of bright red roses. Your mouth fell open in surprise as you walked a bit closer. Looking around you saw no one and definitely no fireworks. 

You stood their dumbfounded for a few moments, looking at the probably hundred roses. “Do you like them?” Spinning around at the sound of the voice, you saw Tony walking up to you, hands in his pockets as he watched you closely. “I thought it might be a bit much, but, then I thought, what the hell. You don’t confess your love to someone every day.” 

As he approached you, you stared at him, shock still running threw you, before you finally smiled and let out a surprised laugh, sharing your head “Just when I gave up the hope that it was you, you surprise me with this.”

A smile broke out on his face as he took another step closer “Then you did want it to be me?” 

You felt a bit more bashful as he seemed to stare right through you “Yes. I did.”

“Well, that’s definitely a relief. I kept thinking that maybe, you had feelings for me, but, I tend to be a bad judge of character. But, you proved me right.”

“I have to admit, it was hard to keep hoping it was you though, the poetic notes and the flowers, it just...didn’t seem like you.”

“Well that was the point” he smiled “I’ve been planning a way to tell you how I felt, and well, I overheard you and Wanda talking about some stupid romantic movie and I thought I might get creative.” 

“It was definitely creative. And, let me guess. Bruce knew about it, and Vision actually did help you deliver those flowers that day when I asked?”

He winked “Bingo. But, I am still offended by that comment you made.” You laughed, making his smile grow bigger. Taking another step closer to you, he stared into your eyes “You.” he paused, almost unsure of what to say “You surprise me every day you know? And I just, wanted to...surprise you, I guess.” You smiled gently at him “And then, that day in the lab, I- I though I almost got you killed.” 

You shook your head “I don’t blame you Tony. I know you’d never let that happen if you could stop it” 

He gave you a small smile before he reached out, stroking the side of your face gently “I do love you, I mean, if that wasn’t obvious by now” he joked, before his face become more serious ”I’ve only dreamed of having someone like you beside me. It seems too good to be true that you’d want to be there.”

“It’s not to good to be true Tony. Because I love you too.” 

“Well.” he began as he leaned in closer to you, his eyes darting to your lips briefly “If I know you, I know you’d never break a promise.” He spoke almost in a whisper as his lips met yours in a deep kiss. 

Just as you were loosing yourself in the kiss, there was a bright and loud bang besides you making you jump and pull away from the kiss. Your eyes shot to where the light was. You saw bright sparkles falling from the sky as more fireworks shot up into the air from a building across the street. 

You looked at Tony who was smirking and you let out a laugh “At least you didn’t lie about the fireworks.” 

His smirk turned into a grin as he wrapped his arm around your waste and pulled you into another kiss. You could hear the cheers and clapping of the people below on the balconies watching the fireworks, giving an oddly symbolic and movie-esque ending to the passionate kiss.
