so before pride month ends, i wanna present something that ive been thinking about for nearly 10 years now, which is around the time i first realized that i am a guy AND a girl! and i used to call myself bigender a lot more, and while it is still accurate, now i mostly opt for genderqueer as my main gender label, and there are several reasons for this but one of them is:

i really dislike every bigender flag that exists.

they tend to either lean too much into pink and blue, have unclear symbolism or just try to do too much. i wanted something simple, unique and with streamlined symbolism! so without further ado, i give to you:

new bigender flag proposal

black and white in the center represents duality. it is enveloped in turquoise which is a colour symbolizing unity and harmony. all together this is meant to represent two genders, two identities, two aspects; united within a single identity or individual.

the turquoise itself is the web colour dark turquoise, and from a practical perspective i chose that specific shade to better stand out from pastel blues which often represent masculinity. this is meant to be a flag to represent every way to be bigender, but it is very much based on what my gender feels like to me - i am open to suggestions, modifications, conversations about this! if you want to share or use it you dont have to credit me or anything, however i would very much appreciate sharing this and letting me know what you think!

this nepo baby shit is crasy lol i tried to get them off the project bc their contributions are literally a detriment to the work (THEY CAN'T EVEN FLAT. FLATTING TAKES NO ARTISTIC SKILL ITS JUST BASIC FUCKING ORGANIZATION) by drawing a test panel in 2 hours that the ADs literally admitted to liking better but this bullshit persons fucking default photoshop round brush ass lineart is like protected by corporate lmfao even though everyone goddamn hates it. get me out of here

#listen. i was dealing with the bad art when i thought the ADs just had bad taste and wanted to win the ugliest baby competition or whatever #but they HATE it and expect our colouring to make up for their incompetence #AND they won't let me make a necessary change bc it sounds like theyre backed into a corner too #fellas should i quit lol #like i said i was dealing with the uggo before but im like literally depressed thinking about continually submitting work to the ADs that #they actually hate bc the base tht i have to work with is straight trash #the pay is just insane and i have big bills coming up is the thing #i'd feel bad about leaving them to deal but tbh i could probably rec a dozen artists who would happily work on slop for this rate lol

#life drawings from last week #i feel i could have done better but the session itself was fun and i enjoyed doing them #im a bit rusty since i haven't done anything like that for ages and i kind of defaulted to focusing on accuracy i guess #rather than making a conscious effort to be looser/more dynamic idl #idk #like i rly liked one guy's pieces bc he was very bold like a lot of straight lines filling the page thick black charcoal + colours #and the guy next to me had a a squiggly style which was cool .even if he didn't seem to think so lol he wasa bit self deprecating abt it #and i was like noo noo i love the scribbles ..💔#so anyway looking at theirs made me wish id been a bit looser/bolder etc but i think since i hadnt done it in a while it was fine to just #do what im comfortable with quite precise figurative stuff #and tbh i do like these idk #im mad my local gallery stopped doing life drawing but oh well at least ive found an alternative #cant go every week bc its in city like an hour from me + ya know its a bit of an expense + i might be working on some of the days #but hopefully ill go again once or twice at least #original art #tumblr better not flag these looool

Didn't think the 1989 version of The Woman In Black would be scarier than the one with Dan Radcliffe in it

I was Wrong flkjdsafkldsja, but I'm delighted to have been wrong. I had missed getting scared with more practical effects/careful timing of things in the background of shots appearing and disappearing, and this one scratches that itch well.

#text post #also fun seeing how differently they interpreted the characters and how they act #personally i'm realising that the Dan version was sort of. Americanised? Which is probably something I should have realised at first watch #but it only hits now when it's like. how to explain #the casts of both versions are both amazing let's preface with that #but. the Dan version felt very Cinematic. I got scared but was also very aware I was watching An Movie during it #(it got colour-graded quite blue which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does register in my head as Peak Cinematic for the current time #the version of the characters in this 89 version feel slightly more real? accurate to the culture they come from?#like. there's an American Openness between the ones in the Dan version #they're too open to share and hand out compliments and comments like candy they have too much of #everyone is Nice in a way that feels mildly unrealistic #and when they are mad at each other there's tension but a tension #that to me at least you don't worry abt much bc it just feels almost Already Resolved #and it does sort of just drop off and wind up that way tbh #tho I admit it's been a bit since I read the original story so my apologies if I'm misremembering that it did the same in the book #but I could swear there was more that bit of tension there #anyway it isn't that the 89 characters are all mean but they feel Actually British for lack of better words #they have moments of kindness and do have a general sense of like. yeah they care for their community but also they're getting on w/themsel #and their business and not lingering on the interactions #They're kind but not nice and they just. get on with things which is very nice #and feels more in line with the time period to me/what I expect out of a story like this #anyway speaking of Dan found out the guy playing Arthur in this also played the dad in the gross wizard franchise #which wasn't something I expected to see lol #this is my long barely an essay no one asked for and your sign to go watch the 89 version asap #it's on YT for free which is where I'm watching it so genuinely if anyone want link. the only pro to not having access to a kitchen (aside from the whole saving time otherwise I'd spend hours cooking every day due to perfectionism) is that I can paint my nails without worrying about getting it in other people's food.

whilst putting the big books back on the shelf, I stumbled across a book of photographs from the collections of a particular photographer from where I live. ignoring the fact that the compilers didn’t know how to date photographs (like did they REALLY think a picture with a horse-drawn taxi and women in lingerie dresses were from the 1930s???) and I found a picture of one of the old k-class garratts on the north-east dundas tramway. love that

#the 'knows a little about historical fashion' in me knows that there were quite a few misdated pictures in it #and I think it's because they might've been developed at a later time or reprinted at a later time #because they had perfectly 1917 era fashion in a picture dated 1917.#but yeah like not until the popularisation of mobile phones and the internet did we here have the same fashion as on the mainland #yet alone the fashions coming out of the uk and america #so give about two or maybe even three years before things come and go out of style and maybe more for that since you didn't chuck #an old dress once it became unfashionable you'd usually alter it to be fashionable again #but like. for a regatta you'd want to wear your best. that's usually more up-to-date than say your not-leaving-the-house-today dress #and this picture was dated 1920s. meaning that it's likely later than 1920 on the dot which if it were I could see #but honestly every single lady in that picture was wearing a white dress and the ones you could see had a coloured belt #not that you could tell since. black and white.#and the hat styles said what #I looked it up to double-check and those hats matched mid-1900s perfectly AND SO DID THE MEN'S HATS #so I'd say... late 1900s? maybe even 1910 or 11? y'know. A DECADE EARLIER?#like come on you were paid to write this book #and dear fucking god the picture I mentioned in the post body. dates 1930s. it probably was taken around 1909 when that building was new #it couldn't be after 1911 for reasons that would be obvious if you know a little about where I live #and it's really only on these few photographs. and I know it was 1987 so they couldn't like. google the fashion era or anything #which tbh is the best bet at dating this stuff because looking up online stuff about where I live is. tricky #like c'mon I wanna look up creepy little-known stuff about where I live. I don't wanna rely on a seemingly abandoned wordpress page

this beautiful and gloomy evening i am stuck in the middle of a field in a ‘silent zone’ train car with a friendly nun and a bunch of tourists who whisper about what could possibly be the reason for the train stopping (it’s because some other train broke, very easy to check online)

i picked up ‘snow country’ again and it’s as slow and confusing as i remembered but an interesting read anyway and different than what i’m used to, i’m jealous of the snowy winter in it

#the greenery outside looks like an old photograph #the colours are faded and dull but it’s quite beautiful #the train started moving as i was typing and we’re apparently 20 minutes behind schedule #it’s sweet that it’s so slow tbh i don’t mind at all #train journey #mine

suddenly devastated i never had a frankie doll tht came with watzit bc i jst had the genius idea to add pink watzit to the design

#and he’s hard to find … sigh #tbh i think i’ll decide if i wanna go the xtra mile with pink watzit once frankie’s rerooted and outfitted #which will take quite some time i imagine. it’s no small endeavour #and i think my ideas for this r quite ambitious .. but i wanna go as far as i can with it #i feel like pink frankie has truly kickstarted a motivation and inspiration i havnt had in so many years. i thought it was lost for good #but for the last two nights ive stayed up until sunrise drawing concepts for it #i havnt done that for so long a time #the hair is arriving today but we’re not starting on the reroot for a minute yet #i still want to go over her head and face with some acetone again jst to ensure no stains are left before the reroot #and for that i need a bottle of acetone …… we won’t go into that again #the outfit then can wait. i want to get it right so im gonna take my time finding the right fabrics and colours #ive a few ideas on how to make the boots .. but im not sure which to go with #the boots may be one of the harder parts tbh #jst bc of the nature of the outfit they may hav to be completely made frm scratch #unless i can find a pair of doll shoes with a big enough platform to work from #that would be the ideal scenario. but the only shoes i can think of that fit the requirements might be g3 core drac …#and that might present a problem #so at least right now it’s looking like they’ll need to be made completely frm scratch #aside from the boots i think accessories will be the hardest to make #but i also think they’ll be super fun to make #ooh isnt it all so exciting ?#plum.txt
