well, hello fellow photo id holder! 🤝🏻 but yeah, if my friend from vancouver has the funds to rent a car and i would pay for gas and anywhere else we go to (lunch, dinner, etc) but i would hate for her to experience the ttc especially that there seems to be more violence these days. hope you're doing well, k! today (tuesday) was my first day back at work after vacation and i thankfully survived
You wanna know whats funny? I never actually bothered to get an Ontario card until 2021. I was running around trying to get establishments to accept my health card as ID for an age. Never, under any circumstances, underestimate my ability to be lazy
I mean, I honestly don't know what's worse— driving in the city seems like a nightmare, and I think the TTC profits off that.
TTC: Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Everyone else: ...Do we have to? TTC: Yes.
Congrats on making it through the day! Honestly, what an accomplishment. I hope you got yourself a little treat.

Corpse Husband x Animator!Reader (Gender Neutral)
Warnings: None :)
Genre: FLUFF, Humor, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: When a character in Y/N’s new animated video looks a lot like Corpse’s avatar, people are starting to suspect whether it’s a pure coincidence or sneakily intentional. Corpse is quick to put an end to the debate though.
Requested by Anon. Thank you so much for your request hun! Really sorry for the long wait for the fic to be posted but I still hope you come across it and give it a read and if you do so I hope you enjoy it! Love, Vy ❤
“Hi everyone!“, Rae, aka the creator of today’s lobby, greets us all as we pile in one by one, excited to start the stream.
I am especially excited however because I haven’t participated in a stream in quite a while seeing as how I’ve been very busy with my original content - animations. I made an animation talking about my vacation to Canada over the winter about two years ago. In my defense, it was a long video and I hadn’t posted in so long that I wanted to make it a special comeback - sort of - and something to repay my audience for their patience. I got too carried away in the gaming world and forgot my main field which is animation.
“Hi guys! Missed ya!“ I greet them for myself too, genuinely happy to be back seeing as how it’s been so long since I’ve talked to them or played Among Us with them. Maybe that’s another reason why the animation took so long to be finished: I lose motivation when I’m not social and since I don’t leave my house a lot when I’m working on a project, these guys are usually my only social interaction and without them I turned into a literal bum. “How have you all been? How’s it going?”
“It was barely going, to be honest.“ Corpse says with a huff of laughter.
“Yeah, it was super boring without you! Glad you’re back!“ Poki interferes too, her statement widening my smile.
“Aww thanks guys! I’m glad to be back too, feels like it’s been forever since I last was in this Discord server or in an Among Us lobby.“ I say, throwing a quick glance at my chat to see the excited comments left there by my viewers.
“Oh, and congrats on making it on Trending! I was overjoyed when I saw your video on the Trending tab, you don’t even know.“ Rae gushes, bringing a slight blush to my cheeks - yeah I know, I suck at receiving compliments about my work, I’m working on it though!
To be perfectly honest, that video didn’t deserve to make it to Trending. Hell, the chances of it making there were nonexistent considering my channel’s rather small and has a tight-knit community of about two hundred thousand people only. And I don’t mean that as though it’s a bad thing, I’m just using it to set the scene of how impossible it seemed to me that a video of mine would make it to Trending.
“Um yeah, thank you so much, Rae. Honestly, I need to thank Corpse for that.“ I say, my blush deepening as my cheeks grow even redder. “People thought the character in the animation was him so they had to investigate.“
Yeah, apparently a fan of mine who watched the video recognized the character of my boyfriend as Corpse and immediately took to Twitter to let people know what they’d found and man did it blow up. Anything involving Corpse blows up nowadays but I still owe him a ‘thank you’. One I bet he won’t accept. I know him too well at this point - I know he won’t take any credit for it whatsoever but oh whatever.
“My phone got blown up the day it was posted, holy crap.“ Corpse laughs, “I was so taken aback, in all honesty. I was like: yeah, no shit, Sherlock. - Thought everyone already knew we were dating. Like, the confusion really caught me off guard. I thought we were being obvious.“
Well....I guess that’s one way to reveal a relationship you’ve been keeping secret for months now.
“Thanks, babe. Couldn’t have done that any more originally, I guarantee.“ I sigh, tangling my fingers in the roots of my hair as I feel laughter bubbling up from my stomach to my chest, begging for me to let it out.
“Wait...“, Rae is, unsurprisingly, the one to break the silence that commences on our friends’ part, “WHAT?!“
“Yeah, I second that...“ Poki is quick to follow, “WHAT!?“
Oh here we go....

Personal Ethic as a Nature Interpreter
Here we are, delving into our last blog posts of the semester! I have truly appreciated this course for so many reasons. Sharing perspectives and ideas about nature interpretation and the beauty of this marvelous planet with my classmates has really inspired me. It has been exciting to read about all of our unique experiences and I do feel as though it has allowed me to view aspects of nature in new ways.
In order to describe my personal ethic as a nature interpreter, I must start out by stating my core personal ethics that I carry with me in my daily life. These are as follows: compassion, empathy, kindness, honesty, dedication, respect, responsibility and fairness. These are the values I actively strive to  live by every day, and certainly try to bring forth into my role as a nature interpreter. As a wildlife biology and conservation major at the University of Guelph, some of my greatest love and passion is found within nature. I have a strong desire to learn all I can about the animals and plants with whom we share this planet, and in doing so I hope to play a significant role in environmental sustainability and education.
I believe that we as humans have a profound responsibility of preserving and honouring the creatures we share the earth with. Nature is their home, and though we all enjoy its beauty, it is essential that we take our knowledge as nature interpreters to do our absolute best to care for it. I have always had a great deal of empathy for wildlife, from little bugs to majestic eagles. I also love plants, and I feel connected to nature each time I am out in the world and take the time to look around at the world of greenery around me. I love using plant identification apps on my phone to learn about new species and share this information on the apps so more people can learn of the whereabouts of these species! It is so incredible to bring people together through a love of nature. The same goes for birdwatching, which is another activity I really love. I love tagging the location of birds I see in nature so it can provide data for others to share. In case anyone is interested, I really enjoy “Seek” by iNaturalist for plant identification, and Merlin Bird ID from Cornell Lab of Ornithology for birdwatching. It is always exciting to hear a familiar call of a favourite bird when out enjoying nature, and sharing this information with people who are with you.
The Black-Capped Chickadee (30 seconds)
(A 30 sec clip of a black-capped chickadee from Hinterland Who’s Who- you can learn so much in half a minute!)
Reviewing the main questions continually asked throughout this course, I believe it is relevant now to answer them on a personal note.
Who am I as an interpreter?
I am an advocate for wildlife, their habitats and trying to bridge a connection between nature and humans in order to create a better world.
 2. Who is my audience?
My audience is people of all ages who can contribute in a meaningful way to wildlife and their environment. As mentioned in the course, kids always seem like the most impactful audience because the influence we can have when they are young and learning about the world can stay with them for the rest of their lives.
“Whether you introduce a child to a pileated woodpecker, you provide tools to allow them to make safe decisions when on a hike with friends, or something else, you are offering a spark to be fanned and developed” (Hooykaas, A., 2021
3. How can I make this experience meaningful?
My experience as a nature interpreter, as a steward of the earth, can be made meaningful by making connections with others. In forming connections with other people and educating each other, holding each other accountable, and speaking for the voiceless (ie; nature), this experience can be extraordinarily meaningful.
I feel a great deal of responsibility in my role as a nature interpreter. As a young woman who is incredibly passionate about our natural world, I know  my education is a privilege and a tool in my belt that can be used to connect people to nature. It is a circle, the importance of wildlife to people and vice versa. Humans take comfort in nature in order to recharge, whether that be out birdwatching, hiking, or canoeing. On some level, we all take comfort in nature and amongst our beautiful wildlife. However, wildlife really depend on us to ensure their survival based on how we value them and their habitats, which we coexist in. Wild animals are so important to us, not only on an emotional level, but their wellbeing is also a direct correlation to the health of our ecosystems and even our economy (Hinterland, n.d). Education is power, and the responsibility of teaching fellow Canadians about our natural world is one I am more than happy to take on.
Hinterland Who’s Who from the Canadian Wildlife Federation, courtesy of Environment and Climate Change Canada has an incredibly informative website regarding the importance of wildlife, and I will include it in my citations for anyone who is interested to read!
Some statistics from this particular page made me a little bit emotional. As we all know, working and studying in the field of nature interpretation, can be very daunting and sometimes feel hopeless. When we are constantly bombarded with news of environmental destruction and loss, it feels like we are fighting a losing battle. However, I will share these statistics in this blog post so at a glance it may lift your spirits a bit to see just how many Canadians truly care about our natural world!
-14.5 million Canadians (70 percent of the population) participated in wildlife-related activities around their residence or cottage. These activities included feeding, watching, studying, or photographing wildlife. Some 6.6 million people put out special feed for wildlife.
-3.9 million people made trips or outings whose primary purpose was to enjoy wildlife.
-1.9 million Canadians belonged or contributed to wildlife organizations.
-17.7 million Canadians (85 percent of the population) took part in activities such as watching wildlife films or television programs, reading wildlife books or magazines, visiting game farms, zoos, aquariums, or natural history museums, or purchasing wildlife art, crafts, or posters.
(Statistics Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Wildlife Federation)
As I have come to realize, the approaches to nature interpretation that are most suitable to me are those that are hands on and directly helpful to nature. Throughout my hopefully very long career in wildlife research and conservation, I plan on learning more about our beautiful natural world and making it a better place.
A final note, I want to thank everyone so much for a great course! I feel like I have learned so much about myself and others and my perspective of nature interpretation has broadened so much.

GO Rom Com Spotlight: @heavens-bookshop
The enchanting @heavens-bookshop has claimed How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to adapt for Good Omens in the Good Omens Rom Com Event.
For reference, here’s a little background about the source material!
About How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days: An advice columnist, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), tries pushing the boundaries of what she can write about in her new piece about how to get a man to leave you in 10 days. Her editor, Lana (Bebe Neuwirth), loves it, and Andie goes off to find a man she can use for the experiment. Enter executive Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey), who is so confident in his romantic prowess that he thinks he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days. When Andie and Ben meet, their plans backfire.
We spent some time chatting about how the adaptation is coming so far, as well as future plans for it! Now, get to know @heavens-bookshop a little better!
* * *
goromcom: You know how if you open a Tumblr chat with someone you haven't chatted to before, Tumblr tells you two things they post about? I wanted to tell you that yours reports that you post "about #yes and #oh my god." I think those are actually lovely tags, and they show that you are frequently quite excited and supportive of the things you reblog and post! :)
heavens-bookshop: Hah, that's hilarious! I suppose that's understandable seeing as this is a blog I made just for Good Omens stuff! Anything I post or reblog here is content that I utterly enjoyed engaging with and want others in the fandom to see.
goromcom: That’s really great; I love the positivity.
You chose to adapt How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days as your rom com. Has this movie been a favorite of yours, or is there some other reason you chose it?
heavens-bookshop: It's not really a favourite, although I do have some fun memories attached to it, I guess! I went to see it at the cinema when it was released, I was in high school and I went with a few of my friends. The film was okay, but I had much more fun afterwards just hanging out with everyone! I picked it out from the list because I felt like the main concept was one that lent itself pretty nicely to a Good Omens AU, where your two main characters have opposing goals (but develop feelings for each other along the way...)
goromcom: Definitely can see the parallel there, and also, I think the movies we see with friends in high school stick with us in a way movies you see later on just never will.
What's your favorite moment of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and are you looking forward to presenting it in your adaptation? Any loose plans for that scene that you can share?
heavens-bookshop: Well, there's a scene towards the end when the two main characters are heading out to a fancy event, and Ben arrives at Andie's place to escort her to it. When she walks out of her building, she's in a really beautiful outfit and it takes Ben's breath away. I am really hoping to have a similar moment in my story, with Aziraphale playing Andie's part, and Crowley playing Ben's part. I've worked it over a few times in my head, but we'll see what happens when I get down to writing it!
goromcom: Sounds quite exciting!
Other than recreating that moment,  do you plan to stick very closely to the story beats of the original movie, or make bigger changes?
heavens-bookshop: I plan on making a lot of changes. The overall premise is a fun place to start from, but when I re-watched the movie a few weeks ago, I got some pretty severe whiplash from how badly it's aged (I think this is something to be said for a lot of media in the genre). Much of the story revolves around the whole "Men vs Women" thing, and involves some awful misogynistic and homophobic tropes that I am very much throwing in the bin. So we're ditching the "haha aren't women clingy" narrative in favour of playing up Aziraphale being the standoffish fussy bastard we all know and love.
goromcom: It’s definitely been a recurring theme among the participants that their source material really hasn’t aged well! It’s a testament to the GO fandom, I think, and the lovely people taking part in goromcom, that everyone is seeking to smooth out the rough edges of the source material.
What's an interesting decision you've made in your planning so far--a notable casting decision, a changing of venue, or some other plan you have to paint Good Omens all over your rom com?
heavens-bookshop: Well, for starters, I updated some of the concepts - instead of working for a magazine, Aziraphale works at a Buzzfeed-esque website called Paradise where he writes an advice column. Crowley still works for an ad agency, but instead of trying to win a deal with a diamond company (which was very tied to a lot of outdated views on the roles of men and women in relationships), it's a dating app. I've also changed the location to London, mostly because I'm way more familiar with it as a place. I also wanted to include a few more of the women in Good Omens, so Aziraphale's two work BFFs are Anathema (who writes horoscopes) and Madame Tracy (who writes for the spirituality section).
goromcom: Okay, be right back while I go write in for advice from Aziraphale.
But after that, our last question, one I am blatantly stealing from The Good Place: The Podcast. Tell me something "good". It can be something big or small. It can be a charity you think is doing good work, or you can talk about how great your pet is.
heavens-bookshop: I would like to mention two UK-based charities that have had a special place in my heart for many years - Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie. When I was a teen, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and we pretty much provided all her end-of-life care at home. Macmillan and Marie Curie gave us a lot of the resources we needed to do that. Macmillan was a wonderful support system for my mum, and not only looked after her medical needs but also sent someone she could talk to about the emotional ordeal of facing a terminal illness. Marie Curie sent a registered nurse to stay with my mum through the night in her final weeks so that we could try to get some sleep while secure in the knowledge that she was being looked after and had someone by her side. They both provided us with some peace of mind during an incredibly rough time, and I will be forever grateful for all the work they do in supporting the families of people with terminal illness. If you're in the UK, I'd really recommend donating to either of these charities if you ever have the chance.
And so that I'm not just ending on a sad note, I will also tell you about my wonderful cat, Luna. I adopted her shortly after I moved to Texas in 2016 - I had moved all the way from the UK, on my own, and Luna kept me company on those days when I felt alone and completely out of my depth. She's followed me everywhere I've been since, even coming with me when I moved to Canada a couple of years ago (yes I moved a Texan cat to Canada in the middle of February). She is weird, very loud and talkative, has an ongoing vendetta against my running shoes, and I love her to bits.
goromcom: I had a hospice support team for my father’s end of life process, and I will love all of those people until the day I die. I am so glad your family had that sort of support as well. I’m so sorry about your mum.
It’s so wonderful of you to come back around, too, and mention how uplifting having your pet has been for you. I am so happy you have Luna by your side. I also have a talkative cat (with a space-themed name, as well, Nova) and so many days that would be bad are better with a little furry friend with you.
Keep watching for @heavens-bookshop‘s thoughtful GO retelling of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Coming soon!

a/n: It’s been a minute, but here’s part five! Sorry for the shorter chapter, but things are still moving along. Getting there slowly, but surely! I’ve actually been thinking about changing the posting schedule to twice a week, but work has been a little chaotic lately so I’m not sure what to do just yet. Also, sorry for not posting/responding to comment feedback this past week like I usually do. Like I said, chaos reigns! But I appreciate everyone who’s been keeping up with the story and leaving some nice little feedback for me. You’re all amazing and I appreciate you! Oh and Happy Canada D’eh! 💖

After another minute passed, Steve’s impatience was really kicking in. He placed pillows on either side of Ellie to make sure she didn’t roll around and then turned to help Sam. “Just open the damn container.” He reached out to grab the bottle from him, but Sam pulled it away.
“I’m trying to for fucks sake!” Sam exclaimed, slamming the bottle down on the table in his frustration. A thick cloud erupted from the bottle covering both men in the soft white powder. Loud peals of laughter sounded behind them as both men slowly turned to face Ellie, who was clearly in hysterics over the mess they made.
Sam’s tired sigh turned into a low growl. “Barnes owes me so bad after all this and I plan to collect large.”
“You and me both, pal.” Steve agreed before they both broke out into a fit of coughs.
———————————————————————
Steve would be the first to admit that things may have started off a little rocky, but he felt like they were on a good track now. The fact that Ellie soiled her clean diaper almost as soon as they changed her was just another little speed bump. The little insect was just waiting for it. The two men were still covered in a light dusting of baby powder even though they did manage to shake themselves free of most of it. Unfortunately they would each have to wait for a shower until they figured out what to do with the child.
The pages from the letter they found were starting to crinkle with the amount of times Steve went back to read it. They'd have to have it laminated the way they were going. Ellie wasn't due for a feeding for a couple hours and now that she was clean, they really didn't know what to do with her. How were two grown men - whose main priority was to fight against the evils of the world - supposed to entertain a little baby? Of course, it was Steve that started strategizing because, well, that's what he does.
“Okay, what we need to do is figure out how all of this is going to work and what we're supposed to expect. Sam, can you hold onto Ellie so I can go grab my laptop?” He lifted Ellie off the couch cushion and turned towards Sam who kept looking back and forth between the baby and Steve.
“How about you hold onto the kid and I go grab your stuff. You two already have a little thing going on. I'd hate to get in the middle of that.” He crossed his arms over his chest as though that would protect him from having to do anything.
“Sam, there's no way I'm doing this alone. Sooner or later you're going to have to hold her and right now is as good a time as any.” Steve held her out a little more expectantly.
There was no doubt that the Captain was right and Sam knew that, but it really did nothing to calm his nerves. To share the responsibilities and duties of caring for a child that wasn't your own was not something Sam thought he would ever have to do. Barnes really would be in a world of trouble the moment he walked through the front door.
Reluctantly, Sam agreed but not before pumping himself up a little bit first. After a few sets of lunges, a couple jumping jacks, and some light jabs into thin air, Sam was as ready as he'd ever be. He craned his neck to the side, outstretched his arms, and let Steve place the small bundle in his hands. While Steve had been watching unimpressed by the spectacle his roommate was putting on, Ellie was just staring up at him in wonder. Maybe she was still too young to think he was being ridiculous, like Steve thought he was.
After a few seconds passed with Sam holding out the baby like a sacrificial offering, he dared to open his eyes and get a good look at her. To his surprise, she wasn't crying and didn't even seem upset. She just kept staring up at him with her big blue eyes and her little fingers in her mouth, drooling all over her hand.
Once he loosened up a little bit he gently started rocking back and forth. “Alright this isn't so bad. Yeah. We can do this.”
Confident that he could leave the two on their own, Steve went off in search of his laptop so they could do some serious baby research. Whether they wanted to or not, this was happening and they needed as much information as possible. Over the next hour, they did as much research as they could. Visiting websites and blogs, even watching videos and ordering a couple books online. The mother didn't specify how long this little arrangement would last so they thought the more prepared they were, the better off they'd be.
During that time, Sam and Steve would take turns entertaining Ellie while the other worked at the laptop and read everything out loud. Steve enjoyed talking to her. Just pointing out little things around the apartment and asking her questions she couldn't answer. When it was Sam's turn he would do much of the same except there was a little bit more movement. He would get up and waltz around the room with her in his arms, singing to her while she mumbled back. He even took her into Bucky's room and started telling her things about him. For the most part he only mentioned the negative traits.
“Sam, don't say those kind of things to her.”
“It's alright, man. It's all in the tone of voice you use.” Sam said sweetly. “As long as it sounds pleasant she doesn't care what I'm saying. Even if I'm telling her that her daddy's a tool, she's still all smiles. See, look at that.” He turned Ellie to face Steve and he was right. She was smiling up at Sam as though he wasn't just shit-talking her father.
When it finally came time to feed her Sam was the one to prepare the bottle since according to him, Steve was more likely to burn it. Sam even made sure to check that the milk wasn’t too hot by dabbing some on his wrist before handing the bottle to Steve who was still holding Ellie. She was starting to get fussy, but Steve was stuck admiring the way Sam seemed to be getting a grip on their new and strange situation.
“Don’t act so shocked, Steve.” Sam said, urging him to give the kid the bottle. “They do that kind of thing all the time in movies with little kids in them.”
Steve was about to ask what kind of kid friendly movies Sam had been talking about, but Ellie was starting to fuss in his arms. He shushed her gently and gave her the bottle, surprised to see how eager she was for the formula. Once her belly was full and she was properly burped, they settled her back into the bassinet to see if maybe she would be ready for a nap. It only took a few more moments of cute little babbling before she started to drift off to a peaceful slumber. One that they hoped would last until dinner time.
“Huh,” said Sam quizzically. “So that’s all she’s gonna do then? Eat, sleep, and shit?” That doesn’t seem so bad.” He turned to look at Steve who had already plopped down on the recliner and was emitting soft sounds from his partially opened lips. The super soldier was exhausted and they had only spent half a day with the kid. This was definitely going to be a lot harder than they thought.
Sam smiled down at his slumbering friend, taking pity on him for having done his fair share of the work with little Ellie. After a handful of seconds he was done taking pity on him, though, and moved to grab Steve by the shoulders and shake him awake.
“Wake your ass up. We’ve still got work to do if this kid is gonna be interrupting our typical daily operations.”
“Thanks, Sam.” Steve said with an unappreciative groan, wiping his hands down his tired face. “Okay, what’s first.”
Sam looked down at his friend then to the cute sleeping baby. He noticed the letter was still open on the coffee table and grabbed it.
“First,” he said. “We gotta find out who the baby mama is and what kind of trouble she’s in.”

cadel + theron: swtor & the secret world crossover/au concept
Deleted my last post about this because I didn’t like it. Going to try again.
This is a thought that’s been in my mind for the last few weeks for no reason other than that I find it fun to imagine. What if my SWTOR character Cadel Browydr and his love interest Theron Shan were in the universe of The Secret World? (See here for more info on Cadel and Theron)
For those unfamiliar with The Secret World, it’s an urban fantasy MMO. Its setting is our modern-day Earth under attack from occult forces. There is magic, mythical creatures, and secret societies pulling the strings and controlling the world. Among these secret societies are the Templars, the Dragon, and the Illuminati.
All of these thoughts are my own and I’m not dictating what someone else’s SWTOR + The Secret World crossover should look like. I’m just writing my thoughts down so that I can keep track of them. This whole thing is hideously self-indulgent, so be warned.
tl;dr: This is how I’d do it -- Theron comes from Los Angeles, California, and was force-recruited into the Illuminati after graduating from university. Cadel was born in Ottawa, Ontario, into a Templar-affiliated family that taught him traditional Templar values growing up. Details under the cut.
-- ILLUMINATI AGENT: THERON SHAN --
Theron was born in Los Angeles, California. His parents, Jace and Satele, divorced when he was very young. They had joint custody of him, but Theron lived mainly with his mother, only being sent to his father’s when his mother had to travel for work. His mother worked in disaster relief and his father was a businessman. Theron didn’t really bond with either of his parents growing up. His mother was firm and disciplinary, and his father was very busy with work, so neither of them really gave Theron the love and support he needed. He grew up rather lonely, though he discovered a talent for music -- this became his “escape”, teaching himself piano and guitar and writing short songs on occasion. He shared his music only rarely with his peers, and never with his parents. It wasn’t until his teenage years when Theron and his father started to grow closer, and they gained some semblance of an ordinary father-son relationship. His mother started to travel for work more often, and so he saw her less. Jace learned of his son’s musical talent, and while he was supportive of it at first, he convinced Theron that he wouldn’t make a good living as a musician. Theron went to study business in university, with his father paying for all of his courses. He proved himself to be a bright student, and even his mother became proud of him -- however, she could not attend Theron’s graduation ceremony due to her work. After the ceremony, Gaia sent a bee for Theron to swallow, and part of the auditorium was destroyed in the following explosion. Soon afterwards, a group of Illuminati revealed themselves to Theron, and Jace revealed himself as a member. They covered up the incident, paid the university a large sum of money to silence them, and sent Theron to the Illuminati Labyrinth in New York. Suddenly plunged into the secret world, Theron had to rapidly learn about the existence of magic and mythical creatures and the secret organizations controlling the world. He learned how to control his newfound powers, preferring anima-infused firearms over magic. During his time training, Jace informed Theron that Satele had been missing since his graduation ceremony. This came as a shock to them both, as Jace had never known about Satele’s involvement in the secret world. He does not know where she is, but he suspects she is with the Dragon. Theron makes a living as a field agent for the Illuminati, but he disapproves of their lack of ethics, cheating others and their own people to make money and get ahead. Jace agrees with him only partially, but he argues that the Illuminati have power and they get results. Theron wishes to return to his old life in Los Angeles, but he has a feeling that his mother is here somewhere in the secret world, and he wants to find her.
-- TEMPLAR MAGUS: CADEL BROWYDR --
The Templar-affiliated Browydr family is a large and privileged family that has its roots in Cardiff, Wales, though a portion of them live in Ottawa, Ontario, and that is where Cadel was born. Growing up, many of Cadel’s summers were spent in Wales, learning about magic like everyone else in his family. In Canada, he helped his family oversee secret world activity in the area while maintaining an ordinary appearance to the mundane world -- going to school, being part of the community, et cetera. Though potion-brewing was not one of Cadel’s strong suits, cooking and baking definitely were, and they were his main hobbies throughout his childhood. Cadel expressed dreams of becoming a chef, but his parents told him that he was a Templar, first and foremost. They taught him traditional Templar values -- to fight evil and to protect the world -- and Cadel learned to embrace them. Like the rest of his family, he became fiercely loyal to the Templars, aspiring to become a Templar Knight one day, stamping out evil wherever it may lurk. He was a “golden boy” all around, even to the mundane world -- earning good grades in school, participating in sports, and being a role model to his peers. As he grew into adulthood, he started started to reflect on his childhood passion towards food, and how his parents had discouraged him from that. He still cooked on a regular basis, but he didn’t feel the same passion as he did before. He also began to question the Templar values he’d been taught -- thinking they may be too extreme or too black-and-white -- which led to disagreements with his family. Cadel ended up feeling lost, not knowing what to do with his life. He went to college and took courses in various fields like English, philosophy, and history, and while he enjoyed learning in those fields, he didn’t feel as if they were what he wanted to do with his life. Before he was able to complete a degree, Gaia sent a bee for Cadel to swallow. His family sent him to Temple Hall in London, where he learned to use his new powers, and he became proficient in many different types of magic. He favours Blood Magic and Chaos Magic in particular, and has discovered abilities in thaumaturgy. His magical prowess has earned him the respect of many other Templars, and Temple Hall has awarded him the title of Magus. Since he started working in the field, Cadel has found that what makes him happiest is work where he helps out people in need. This is consistent with one of the values his parents had taught him -- to protect those who cannot protect themselves -- but Cadel remains somewhat critical of other values the Templars uphold. To this day, he remains relatively silent about these criticisms.
-- CADEL & THERON --
(If you’re still reading this and you’ve made it this far, I respect you. I also warn you that this following section is the most self-indulgent thing ever.)
Cadel and Theron’s respective factions had them assigned to Solomon Island to rescue survivors and cull the Filth infestation, and that is where the two met. They became friends fairly quickly, and there was physical attraction between the two, but the Templars and Illuminati are old enemies, and this discouraged them from starting a romantic relationship. They kept in contact, but they didn’t meet again until months later -- when they were both assigned to Egypt to root out the Cult of Aten. During their downtime, they went to a cafe and shared stories, bonding and growing closer. They eventually confessed to each other and agreed to start a relationship, but they kept it secret from their respective handlers. From then on, working together became a rarity, but they kept their relationship stable, going on dates all over the world and strengthening their bond. Eventually they stopped being so secret about it, and thankfully, their handlers didn’t seem to care -- so long as it didn’t get in the way of their work. This led to Theron and Cadel discussing their criticisms of their respective factions with each other, and Cadel suggested joining the Council of Venice. It’s in a neutral position between the Templars, Illuminati, and Dragon, and it may enable the two to do more work helping the world and giving aid to people who need it. Months passed, and they worked and advanced through the ranks of their respective factions, and they got the attention of the Council of Venice. Some time later, they both joined. This was seen as an act of abandonment by Theron’s father and Cadel’s family. This surprised neither Theron nor Cadel, but they remained firm in their decision. They both wanted to work in an organization that aligned with their morals. Eventually Cadel’s family warmed up to the change, though Jace cut off all contact with Theron. This made Theron depressed for a bit, but Cadel was endlessly supportive of him. Working for the Council was not all the two had hoped it would be -- it was and still is slow and inefficient, but Cadel and Theron were still doing work that they enjoyed. Cadel’s family began to accept his and Theron’s relationship, and Theron took this as confirmation -- he and Cadel were made for each other. Theron proposed, and they eventually got married, with all of their friends and Cadel’s family at the wedding. They had invited Jace, too, but unfortunately he did not come. To this day, the two still work for the Council and are still in love. Theron goes crazy for Cadel’s cooking, and Cadel helps Theron re-kindle his passion for music. Theron knows that his mother is still out there, and he intends to find her. Cadel intends to help him.

WIP - The Cold
So @bardofspades had a really good idea that since OMGCP as a comic will be finishing up in April, we should in some way post a WIP to get it out there and hopefully resurge our community a little bit.
I signed up for a reverse bang in early 2019 with the thought that I could not only write a fic based on someone’s art in a short amount of time, but I could do it with a newborn baby, AND I could do it for a ship I’ve never written before. What I learned from that was a) writing with a newborn is hard, b) writing a ship outside your comfort zone is hard, and c) I absolutely cannot write a fully-fledged fic from inception to posting on someone else’s timeline.
I still feel guilty about having to drop out of this bang and I promised myself I would write this someday. That someday may still happen, but in the meantime, here is the introduction and 1.5K summary of a NurseyDex fic I never finished, where the frogs + Farmer are glaciologists studying the effects of climate change on glaciers in Antarctica. Hope you enjoy this peek into my writing process - every fic I’ve ever written starts with this type of summary that turns into the posted story you read.
C.Chow I hope you don't mind us messaging you like this. Your dean gave us your contact info.
C.Chow We read your paper on glacial decay in Antarctica (and LOVED it!) and wanted to know if you had already planned another trip to study irreversible decline?
W.Poindexter Thanks. I haven't planned another trip. My research partner moved to Arizona to study geology.
C.FarmerChow We proposed a research study of the same topic to our university and they're willing to send us for two weeks in early January, before classes start. If you could swing another trip by then, we'd love if you could accompany us.
C.Chow I'm Chris by the way. Dr. Chris Chow.
C.FarmerChow I'm Dr. Caitlin Chow. If you want to look me up, my research is under Caitlin Farmer.
W.Poindexter Let me guess. Just married?
C.FarmerChow A month now. They just updated my email.
W.Poindexter Congrats.
C.Chow Thanks!
W.Poindexter I haven't brought up the return to my university yet, but I know they'd support another project. This is interesting timing, though. I just got an email from someone else yesterday about the same thing.
C.FarmerChow Oh really? From who?
W.Poindexter Dr. Derek Nurse at Columbia. I haven't responded to him yet.
C.Chow I've heard of him! He's got a cool paper on ablation zones on some glaciers in Canada.
W.Poindexter Yeah I read it. It was interesting.
W. Poindexter Where are you guys thinking of going?
C.FarmerChow Taylor Glacier and Blood Falls, probably. I recently read that Taylor was classified as irreversible.
W.Poindexter Let me see if I can swing it.
W.Poindexter And if Dr. Nurse wants to go.
***
UNEDITED SUMMARY
General Story Summary: Chris and Caitlin Chow, recently married glaciologists at the University of Washington, read a paper authored by William Poindexter of the University of Maine on the study of healthy glaciers in Antarctica. The paper cites a desire to extend the research to unhealthy glaciers to determine the point of "irreversible decline." If successful, this research can be shared with others globally to truly determine our rate of glacial decay. After contacting Dr. Poindexter, they discover he has been in contact with another glaciologist at Columbia University in New York, a Dr. Derek Nurse, who is interested in the same topic. The four agree to go to Taylor Glacier near McMurdo Station in Antarctica.
They spend the first two-three days setting up their research tools but also decide to explore. Dex has been on this sort of expedition before but none of the others have, so he is their guide while hiking, kayaking, and skiing. He shows everyone the beauty of the continent but is very cautious, knowing how dangerous it is. This is their first encounter with the penguins, as they discover there is a colony living about a half a mile away from them down a slope near the shore.
Dex and Nursey immediately do not get along; Nursey doesn't listen and takes risks while exploring, which gets under Dex's skin because he knows how dangerous it is. In his previous expedition his fellow researcher fell through ice and they almost lost him -- not just under the ice, but from the resultant hypothermia -- and had to leave early to ensure his safety. This is why Dex wanted to come back, to finish the work they started, and also why Dex is alone, because his friend refused to come back and has since relocated from Maine to Arizona as he can no longer handle the cold. Dex does not tell this to Nursey until later - until this conversation, Nursey just assumes Dex is an uptight asshole.
Dex and Nursey argue a lot over the three days of exploration, argue about how to conduct their research. A few days into this, while they're drilling through ice, they have their second encounter with penguins. Nursey points them out and Dex looks over, and while they're watching the penguins being amusing, the ice underneath them cracks. Dex panics and screams and it looks like Nursey is going to fall through the ice, but Dex catches him at the last minute and his leg gets soaked but that's about it. They immediately return to camp - time is of the essence for Nursey's foot. He needs to remove his pants, dry his leg and change his clothes immediately, and warm it up. Every moment it's wet and exposed, they're in danger of losing it. After Nursey's pants come off and Dex dries off his foot, they have the conversation where it's revealed that Dex's friend nearly died. They have a civil conversation, with moments of heat as Dex tells Nursey it's not chill, he could have lost his foot [”We were 15 minutes from the camp! If this was winter, you'd have lost your leg.”], and Nursey says he can't think about potentially losing his foot. If he doesn't keep his cool he'll lose it completely and never get it back.
Dex and Nursey respect each other a lot more now after the incident. Nursey is more careful, Dex is more patient, and they grow together over the course of the next two weeks while they continue their experiments. On one of the nicer days near the end of their trip they're sitting outside eating lunch when a rogue penguin finds them and is staring at their food. No one knows much about penguins and what they eat or if they're aggressive, but the penguin is waddling forward. Chowder gives him food and Dex groans, "They're like seagulls, you know. Now we're going to have the entire fucking colony over here begging for food." To which Farmer says they're much cuter than seagulls, and Dex eventually agrees that yes they're much cuter than seagulls. The penguin is friendly after they feed it and it lets Nursey pet its little head; Nursey laughs and looks at Dex, who's smiling at him. The penguin, realizing there's no more food to be had, nips at Nursey and catches his finger. Nursey yelps and Dex makes him remove his glove; he has a cut but nothing serious. The penguin wanders away and Nursey and Dex go back inside so Dex can treat Nursey's cut. Dex cleans it and puts a band-aid on it, slightly worried about infection, but Nursey tells him to chill, and Dex rolls his eyes. They have a conversation about how cool it is that the penguin just walked right up to him and Dex says that Nursey looked adorable petting it and Nursey ribs him for the use of the word "adorable" so Dex says "I can't say sexy, you were petting a penguin!" and Nursey asks if Dex thinks he's sexy and Dex gets serious and says yes, and Nursey kisses him, and they go into their bunk and have sex. There's no privacy in their shelter; Chowder and Farmer know they're doing it and at one point when the door opens and they enter, Chowder is about to enter the room to ask how hard can it be to put on a bandaid when he realizes they're doing it and Farmer says "Christ, about time!"
After lunch they go back out to do more work and Dex is red from head to toe. Chowder and Farmer are chirping them about doing it; Nursey is chill but Dex is not but they catch eyes and Dex calms down. After a successful test they go back to the shelter, have dinner, and settle in for the night - Chowder and Farmer in one bunk, Dex and Nursey in the other. Dex and Nursey mutually attack each other (Charmer has done the same in their bunk) and then afterward they're snuggling and Nursey asks if Dex hooked up with his friend who fell in the ice. Dex says yeah of course, they were alone together for two weeks, of course they hooked up, and Nursey asks more pressing questions - were they in love, did they continue to hook up after they got back and he got better, and Dex says no, no, no to all of it. It wasn't like that. They were in the middle of nowhere, it was legit winter, they were bored and people change in these sort of extreme situations. They never once mentioned what happened when they were trying to keep each other warm. Nursey asks if that's all they're doing, keeping each other warm, and Dex hesitates.
Nursey gets angry and loses his chill for the first time (they've argued before but Nursey always is chill. Combative, but chill) and gets dressed and makes to go outside and Dex is yelling at him that he's crazy, he can't go out in the dark alone, but Nursey storms off with his backpack and Dex starts to get dressed. Chowder meets him in the living area; whatever he and Farmer were doing they stopped when the yelling began, and Dex is gearing up to go outside. Chowder says he's crazy and Dex says Nursey is the crazy one, who's already out there. Dex, Chowder, and Farmer all go out to find him and they eventually do after an hour. Nursey's fine but very cold. Dex calls him reckless. Nursey says he would have been fine if he'd brought his compass so he could find his way back. Dex asks why he couldn't just look at the stars and Nursey says "Not all of us can navigate by the stars, Magellan," and Dex smirks and ribs at him because there actually aren’t stars since it’s the middle of summer and it’s never truly dark. They head back toward the shelter; Chowder and Farmer first, Dex and Nursey dawdling behind. Nursey admits he doesn't want this to end, that he's not just trying to stay warm, that he cares about Dex despite the fact that Dex is infuriating. Dex admits that he might have had feelings for his friend but his friend didn't want anything to do with him after they left the cold and Dex didn't want to get hurt again. Nursey says he would never hurt Dex, not intentionally, but he admits it won't be easy. They're so different. Dex says not really. We like the same things when it comes down to it. We both came to fucking Antarctica for Christ's sake, and Nursey agrees. Yeah, yeah they did.
Possible epilogue of Dex and Nursey sharing an office at Samwell, which is halfway between NY and Maine and fighting about coffee mugs before Nursey makes a joke about storming off into the darkness and they kiss.

Tumblr media
so. yugioh vrains is over. the last episode has aired.and with that in mind, with three seasons of this show, i’ve still got a lot of feelings about this show. especially that last episode. so i guess this is sort of the final thoughts and feelings post about yugioh vrains. not the last post in general about yugioh vrains. just the big opinions post, i guess, because there’s a lot.
yugioh vrains was good
yugioh vrains was very good. i liked it a lot. and me liking it a lot is the only criteria here for whether i’ll say it’s good or bad. i liked it! so it’s good.
i’m also very thankful that vrains has broken a curse yugioh has been suffering for awhile now. we’re talking about the dub. and no, i don’t really care that much that the dub censored some bullets, i think it’s funny, but i don’t care otherwise. this is just about general dub quality. zexal’s dub was bad. written bad quite a bit of the time, and a lot of the voice acting was just, not good. arc v, i can’t speak for the writing, because i only have seen like ten episodes of it, which is to be fair more than most people on this website, but the voice acting in arc v is atrocious, it’s worse than zexal. i’ve seen 20 episodes of the vrains dub, and look, i know. i know arc v’s main villain sounded like iago from fucking aladdin, i know that dub yusaku is voiced by someone who did voicework in zexal. but in 20 episodes of vrains, there wasn’t a single voice i didn’t like. the voice acting in vrains is good. and the dub is written well! it’s actually funny! i think i actually laughed more with the vrains dub than the sub for those 20 episodes. you know how the zexal dub tried to be funny every episode but it was just obnoxious? vrains was actually funny. the jokes are actually good. it’s been awhile since yugioh’s been dubbed well, and it was refreshing. the only thing i don’t like about the dub is that it only airs in canada and it’s impossible to watch in like any way online. i’m not done watching the dub btw eventually i’ll be able to watch more and i will watch more and i’ll be back here in this tag. if nothing else, i’m hoping it joins the other yugiohs on hulu or something when the dub’s done in like, two years. and if there’s a vrains manga i’ll definitely read it but like. shrugs on that.
the show’s got big megaman battle network, code lyoko, and the world ends with you vibes. i’m not saying this to knock vrains or anything. i love vrains. but if you like any of those games/shows, and you haven’t given vrains a chance, even if you haven’t watched any other yugioh series, i highly recommend it. the card games in vrains were very secondary to the story itself, and i think that went a long ways here, it worked well.
so like, how was vrains, how did i feel about it
season one...season one was really good. in hindsight, season one had some good foreshadowing for season three. season one was probably my favorite season, though, but not by much. season one showed yusaku in school the most and i actually loved all the school scenes. revolver’s a really cool and interesting character, and while i’m glad he stopped being a villain after season one and went the sort of anti-hero route, revolver did make a really good villain. uncovering the mystery of the lost incident was fun. a lot of people guessed early on that revolver was both the person yusaku was trying to take down and the person he was trying to save, way before yusaku himself figured it out, but that wasn’t a bad thing at all. i’m pretty sure the show wanted the audience to figure it out before our protagonist, and the reward itself felt pretty rewarding. revolver has cool dragons, yusaku got a cool dragon, ai got insulted a lot, kusanagi was there, definitely a solid season.
season two was easily my least favorite season. bohman and blood shepherd kinda ruined it for me. thoguh, to be fair, blood shepherd didn’t do much. he gave us an excuse to get some takeru flashback, which we could’ve gotten through other means, and he sort of revealed judgement arrows and helped everyone be able to prepare for it, but like, anyone could do that. i hate blood shepherd a lot, but he’s easy for me to forget. i forgot him between episodes a lot, actually, and when he’d show up i’d have to be like, oh that asshole exists. bohman was worse because he was the main antagonist of season two. and he shouldn’t have been. bohman wasn’t a good villain imo! i feel like he wasn’t written super well. i can sort of make him work out in my head, but i don’t like him, and he kept just pulling ideas out that seemingly came from nowhere. he’d make these leaps that were hard for me to follow, and this was after lightning stopped messing with his memories. and since bohman was the main antagonist and because i really didn’t like him, it made it hard for me to enjoy season two. there were other good things in season two. takeru joined the scene in this season, and i love takeru a lot. i require apologies from everyone who didn’t trust my man takeru. lightning was a really good villain (lightning should’ve been the main antagonist imo), was very interesting, and i liked lightning a lot. and hell, haru was alright! i kinda wish they did more with haru. season two wasn’t bad by any means. we also saw the story of how kusanagi and yusaku met in season 2, and those were some of my favorite episodes of the season, along with the yusaku vs kusanagi duel. the story and message was good (though that doesn’t boost it up a ton given season 3 had the same messages) but honestly i just really don’t like bohman.
season 3 is very close to being my favorite season. this is the season of the protagonist having to face against their partner. it happens in like, any yugioh where the protagonist has a partner. vrains didn’t disappoint on that front. this season felt short! season two felt like it dragged on forever and season three felt short. it didn’t necessarily feel like it needed to be longer, when it ended, though. i just wish the show wasn’t over lmao. everyone got baited super hard like episode 1 when everyone thought queen would be the next antagonist after lightning + bohman and then she super wasn’t, which was kinda funny. most of hte time this season i was just yelling at ai to tell me the truth. i loved roboppy and ai this season. and im SO sad about what happened to them!! ai and roboppy were written really well, they made really good villains. i’ll definitely be making more posts about ai in the future. and also, that epilogue though!!! i didn’t get into it when i watched bc i was in a hurry, but!!! jin looks really happy, i love his haircut! and kusanagi is keeping the hot dog truck open so that yusaku still has a place to come home to! im gonna cry!!!! the knights of hanoi are all super good now and i love them. akira’s the ceo of sol!!! it’s what he deserves!!!!! and the whole takeru + kiku scene was really nice. everyone was screaming about that ship being canon now, which i guess it is? i didn’t read it as romantic, i read it as “kiku is a little scared about everything with vrains and takeru is helping her feel safe and secure, like, making sure she doesn’t fall off his hoverboard and shit”. i honestly read it more as takeru still being gay for yusaku while thinking about how cool yusaku is lmao. but i know yusaku + takeru will never be canon, i never thought it would be, and knowing yugioh, takeru + kiku im sure is supposed to be canon so like. it’s not a bad ship. i’m surprised how many people i see like that ship? but it’s just not for me i guess. im happy for yall who wanted this though. and that last scene!!!! we saw ai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i’ll save thoughts on that another time i guess, including yusaku post that time skip.
i liked shima a lot this series. i honestly wish there was more of him lmao. i mostly wanted more yusaku + shima interaction, not in terms of shima finding out yusaku was playmaker, i just wanted the two of them to bond more. i wanted to see more of them being friends (read: shima forcing his friendship on yusaku and yusaku reluctantly goes along with it but actually likes it more as time goes on). and i wish we got to see takeru in the duel club at least once. takeru and yusaku both going to one meeting and yusaku sleeps through it and takeru is pumped and like taking notes and shit and shima is just like how can yusaku sleep through it this is the best!!!
aoi....i have mixed feelings on. i liked her a lot in season one, and i liked her a lot in half of season two. i really don’t like the blue maiden avatar (i did like blue girl!), and i preferred the trickstars over marincesses. i did enjoy her figuring out yusaku was playmaker though, that was a fun scene. i like aoi a lot still, love that girl, but after a point i stopped liking what they were doing with her.
they did ghost gal dirty. ghost gal was GREAT in season one. i loved her. and then they gave her a brother, her brother was shit, and everything about ghost gal got thrown out the window so that her character could revolve only around her shit brother. i feel so bad for her. i mean, i kinda get it? this whole thing’s about bonds, a lot of the bonds focused on were familial bonds (either in the blood family or found family sense, there was both). but ghost gal was already developing a sort of family-ish bond with akira and aoi by that point. i never felt like she needed anything else. she still could’ve done cool things in seasons two and three without having a shitstain forced into her life.
im madly in love with kusanagi and if anyone says a single bad thing about him i will stomp you to death with my hooves
i’m running out of people to talk about here i can’t avoid it anymore i’ll talk about blood shepherd now. i hate him. i hate him. he’s an idiot. i’ve yelled about this before and i’ll do it again. some shit happened to him because of malfunctioning ai or whatever. cool. great. now he has a grudge against all ai. that makes no sense. if im playing basketball and i get hit in the head by a basketball (by accident) am i gonna blame the basketball? no, i’ll either blame the person who threw it or myself for not noticing it and letting myself get hit. if i sprain my wrist playing volleyball am i gonna get mad at the volleyball? no, i’m mad at myself for messing up and playing in a way that caused that injury. if i get in a car accident because my car brake stops working, am i going to blame the car itself? maybe a little, but not as much as either the manufacturer or, if i recently had work done on the brake, the mechanic i visited. see, these things are all inanimate objects with no malicious intent or free will. since vrains is one of those shows, it may sound cruel comparing an AI to a car or a basketball. but the ignis (all generations, we’ll include pandor and bohman and haru in here for simplicitiy’s sake) are a special case. the ignis specifically stand out because they were made with free will. other artificial intelligence does not have that. it cannot have malicious intent. artificial intelligence cannot do anything it is not programmed to be able to do. it cannot hurt or kill someone, unless it is either programmed to have that function, or you’re looking at an ignis. and blood shepherd KNOWS THIS, because he became a hacker, and even REPROGRAMMED AN AI THAT WASNT SUPPOSED TO LIE TO LIE FOR HIM. along the way, he would’ve had to learn that somewhere. an ai malfunctioned and caused blood shepherd and his mom to get in a car accident. the ai itself isn’t to blame for that! that’s the fault of whoever made it!! or if the car was hacked to cause that problem, it’s the car manufacturer’s fault! you blame those people!!! and if blood shepherd went after those groups it’d be fine! instead he goes after artificial intelligences because he’s the biggest fucking idiot the world has ever seen. this does not make sense, even in the vrains universe, because again, the ignis are the only ai with free will and who can make their own decisions. any other ai cannot do something like this on purpose. the solution is to make ai better, not get rid of them. the solution is to improve security. not get rid of ai. at this point ai is so ingrained in society that you’re not gonna accomplish that anyway. oh, and i hate blood shepherd for what he did to ghost gal’s character. other than that, he was cool for two episodes before we learned his bullshit backstory, and he hasn’t done a single thing i liked since except he died twice, and i liked those parts. i fucking HATE blood shepherd. easily one of the worst yugioh characters ever. i could rant on about bohman, too, but im tired.
i don’t have bad things to say about a lot of characters. yusaku, kusanagi, jin, ai, roboppy, revolver, lightning, aqua, akira, earth, go onizuka, windy, i don’t really have bad things to say about them now that the series is over. i liked them a lot!!! they were really good.
i guess the bottom line of this is, i wish yugioh treated its girls and its “joke characters” or “comic relief characters” better. and i wish bohman and blood shepherd didn’t exist, or were executed better. other than that, very solid.
if you were curious about my preferred ships here, yusaku + takeru is the best ship this show has to offer and it’s a shame more people don’t like it, and miyu + aoi is really good. anything else is like, okay, but i don’t love it. the show’s most popular ships are fine but not for me. yusaku + ryoken is okay but doesn’t really work in universe for me, i don’t love it but it’s fine, and it’s aight in a like real au setting. i don’t think there’s any ships i don’t really like, not like, other than the obvious. but these two are the best.
all in all, vrains was really good. this show helped me through some real bad times, and will continue to do so as bad times continue. i love it lots, it holds a special place in my heart, and im glad i was able to watch it. im excited for whatever yugioh has to offer next, especially following this, because vrains is definitely one of my favorite yugioh series over all. it was a lot of fun and made me suffer and cry a lot and it was just...a good time. please watch it if you haven’t. thanks for going on this journey with me. i’ll probably end up talking more about bigger characters like yusaku and ryoken and takeru and kusanagi and ai more in different posts. ive talked enough here already

Do you enjoy watching birth vlogs? I’ve never watched this particular kind of vlog. I’ve seen photo stories of births on Facebook though and while I find women fucking metal for going through childbirth, I’m rather squeamish and I feel like crying when I see the process :((( Would you rather paint on canvas or wood? I’d...rather not paint at all. I’m really not artistic. What regret keeps coming back to haunt you daily? I have this one class that I regret taking this semester just because there were two available sections, and I still ended up in the section with the shittier professor. It’s a pain in my ass every Wednesday and I can’t wait to give a review for this teacher. Do you miss someone? Always, but I’m on depression break at the moment and I just want to be alone for 7 days. If you could cure yourself of one allergy, what would it be? I don’t have any.
Do you know anyone else with your name? I know two people. When I was still applying for AIESEC, I was surprised that there was a sudden abundance of Robyns haha. There’s never any Robyns anywhere. Have you felt like the main character in a book was you? I’m not a big reader, so no. Which country's flag is your favorite? Nepal just because it went ‘fuck it’ on how flags traditionally should look like. What would you be most afraid of happening if you were to visit Africa? Getting arrested??? I’m down for anything but I can’t get in trouble, because I’m a big fucking baby when it comes to crime lmaooooo. Where are you tempted to move to sometimes? Canada. Have you ever hiked a mountain? Nope, but would love to someday. Who seems like they have the perfect life? People who graduate summa cum laude while juggling multiple orgs and have both a tight-knit family and a love life??? How???????? Do you ever take pictures of negative moments? I have. I still have them on my phone.  I don’t see the point of taking nor keeping them if they just make me upset every time I see them but since I have a photo hoarding problem, I can’t bring myself to get rid of them. Do you think it would be a good idea to post photos of negative moments as well as positive? It’s different for everyone. Some might want to capture their negative times to remind them that they went through it and they’re a stronger person now. Some might prefer to block negative stuff from their mind as soon as they overcome it. I’m the latter. What time zone are you in? Idk how the format is...but I use the Hong Kong one. Would you ever post a picture of yourself crying on social media? No. ^Why or why not? It’s just something that would make me feel uncomfortable. I don’t even like crying in front of people other than Gab, so even more would I not want something permanent like a photo to capture me crying. Do you like dark blue jeggings or light blue jeggings better? Light blue seems to be the trend recently. What color is the rim of your whiteboard? I don’t own one. Do you have trouble staying organized? I’m generally organized, but there are certain things that I can never seem to maintain, yes; like I can never keep my closet organized. And my school bag. What was the last thing you cried about? I had a short breakdown in the car last Friday because I had to usher for an event and run errands all day while the weather was RIDICULOUSLY humid and I could feel the sweat seeping in my pants for 8 whole hours, and then when Gabie came to visit she didn’t do the one thing I asked her to do. I exploded by the end of the day and gave myself ample time to cry. Funny how the universe works though - in the middle of my episode, the known dogs that roam in my college skipped over to my car. I had some leftover lunch so I fed them and I instantly felt better. Have you ever held a newborn baby? I have, but he started squirming and crying and I almost dropped him onto the ground. I was 9 and I was assigned to watch over the baby. I’ve never held an infant since. Do you know anyone who has twins? Yes. I was surprised to see my classmate from comm research posting photos of her and her twin on Facebook. Would you rather look older or younger than your age? Younger, and that’s how it works so I’m satisfied.  Related story: I went to get my driver’s license renewed a couple of weeks ago. The guy in charge made me fill up a bunch of forms and made me do unnecessary shit in the process (i.e. made me go ACROSS THE MALL to have my ID xeroxed) because he thought I was a student driver and that I was getting my license for the first time. I would have gotten my license SO MUCH QUICKER, but he gave me the process meant for student permits. I was annoyed, but in the end 1) he apologized profusely, and 2) I just took it to mean I look much younger than 21 which I can be happy about. Where do you buy calendars from? I don’t buy calendars because I already have one on my laptop and phone. Do you shop at the dollar store often? We don’t have dollar stores. We don’t even use dollars. What does your name rhyme with? Bitchin’. Are you following in the career path of any family members? As far as I know, no. I think I’m the first to take up journalism. My maternal grandfather’s side are all very...lawyerish and diplomat-ish though, and I guess that’s kind of related to journ and the fact that I’m taking up history, psychology, and political science courses. Have you ever met anyone who talks like a robot? THAT PROF I TALKED ABOUT A FEW QUESTIONS AGO URGH. He’s probably like 25 but I wish he would resign. He’s awful. What is your favorite country in Europe? I don’t have one. Probably one with a lot of history in it. Name something unique about your town. It has a lower and upper part, haha. I’ve never heard anyone else talk about their province and if they live in the lower/upper part of it. Who does all the chores in your home? My mom. She prefers it that way. Do you feel you missed out on a lot as a kid? I believe so. I was exposed to a lot of nasty shit, so while I was pretty privileged and went to a good school, had all the cool toys, and kept up to date with the cool TV shows, I had to grow up earlier than the kids around me. What is your best kept secret (or one big secret you have right now)? Kinda the point of having a secret. Do you have anyone you can tell your secrets to? I know I can trust my friends, but I’m generally most comfortable telling my girlfriend. ^If so, who? ^ Who was that best friend you ever had? If this question was meant to be in past tense, then it would be Sofie. I really, really hope she’s doing well and that she’s happy where she is. Do people appreciate you and accept you for who you are? I hope they do? What color is your laptop? Silver. What class would you like to repeat over again just for fun? Any art studies and history class I’ve taken. I also had this one class where all we did was have oral presentations/monologues, and it was so much fun, even for an introvert. Passed that class like a breeze. It helped that I had an amazing professor who believed in each of us and knew that we all had stories to tell and share. What are five careers you think you'd be good at? Researcher, analyst...anything that entals organization and data, really. Are you thriving in your life right now? We’re all thriving. We all just have our own paces. :) Who do you have moral support from? College friends, Angela, and Gabie. Who encourages you to go after your dreams? There’s this shirt that says “I work hard so my dog can have a better life,” and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. Do you have people in your family who want you dead? Wow. List all the antiques you have in your room. None. What Bratz doll resembles you the most? I’m not sure about resembles because I guarantee you no human being looks like a Bratz doll, but Jade had always resonated with me. She always seemed like the spunkiest one out of the four. Do you have a walk-in closet? No, I’m not really interested in one. What was the last thing you ate? Krispy Kreme doughnut with Nutella filling. What would you do to save money for your wedding? Work my ass off. I absolutely need to have my dream wedding. Have you ever been manipulated, lied to, abused, or controlled? Sure. Are you against plagiarism? ...Aren’t we all?

Nova Scotia: A Lacrosse Powerhouse?! A blogging attempt
What’s up everyone? Millsy here. I always knew the day would come when I would stop doubting myself and actually give this writing thing a try. I’ve always loved to do it.. and while I don’t usually share my writing with others, I have been complimented on the work I have shared. I have always found it to come naturally to me. I’ve told my wife in the past that I’m going to make a living off of writing… “that requires you to start writing something” was her last response. Touché.
So here I am, shooting my shot. No experience, not a clue at all. I’m just hoping I spell everything correctly and use some decent size words. But before I do dive into this and without sounding too much like a life coach. Please don’t doubt yourself! If you’re reading this and you want to pursue something, please pursue it. It’s what I’m doing right now! You can be your own worst enemy if you let yourself. Regret is an ugly thing and I hope that this helps someone else…So if you’re still reading this, thank you! I hope you enjoy it. Let’s give this a friggin whirl wha?
I reached out to Justin at The High Button about maybe doing some blogging for the brand, after seeing a post that they were looking for people to do that type of content. I am looking to cover sports locally, at the amateur level and professional leagues as well. I love all sports and I thought I could tie my passion for writing into that. Hopefully I can post more of me rambling on so I can give some MLB picks and NHL as well. I’m completely obsessed with golf but don’t like to bet it for the most part. Tiger for the next two majors though..cash it in! Big cat baby let’s go!!
Tumblr media
I’ve known Justin for some time now through Lacrosse. We both played locally in the minor leagues here in the Halifax region, myself for Dartmouth and Justin with Halifax Northwest. We played against each other all the way through the Metro Minor Lacrosse League and eventually in the Junior A league here locally, the East Coast Junior Lacrosse League (ECJLL). Growing up, I always knew who Justin was.. this kid Belly has some sick mittens with a lacrosse stick let me tell ya. Absolute sniper.
I definitely have been fortunate to see lacrosse from all angles. From playing the game until 21, then transitioning into coaching at the Junior A level. Most recently though I have been spending the last several years refereeing the game at the Junior and Senior level, along with all minor lacrosse. This game has exploded in this province and I thought I could shed some light on that growth. I’ve seen a lot over the past 20+ years of being involved with this great game. Going to try string a couple paragraphs together here about that journey.
I was first shown lacrosse by my father Kevan Mills. Big Millsy. What a legend. He showed me the game at a young age and I was obsessed right away. However back then in 1997-98 it wasn’t really a sport that any kid was pursuing as their main sport. Even in early teen years, it was always just the summer sport to hockey. A lot of the guys just picked up their sticks and went to the rink. I however could never get enough of it. My dad would take me when he was refereeing and I would always have my stick for in between periods to throw the ball around. This was when we had a six team senior league in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I would go to the games for those ten minute intermissions so I could get a free floor to myself, I loved it.
That Senior league (MSMLL Maritime Senior Men’s Lacrosse League) was my first taste of high end lacrosse in the area. At single digit years old it was obviously the lacrosse I wanted to play when I got to be that age. What I failed to realize at that age is that the minor leagues were just not growing at the grass roots level. This makes it hard to maintain any sort of high caliber leagues. Eventually the MSMLL folded, and sometimes Junior A benches had no more than 10 runners on them. The bantam and midget leagues were scary. Dark times for high end lacrosse in Nova Scotia.
Guys like Steve Brown, Sean Harrison, Wayne Finck and Bruce Hamilton and many, many others deserve a lot of credit for keeping lacrosse on life support during those dark times. Those names were a huge part of my young lacrosse life and also a big part of why lacrosse has seen the growth it has here. If you would have told me when I was 15 or 16 that in 15 years Nova Scotia would have players playing for NCAA titles, top Canadian universities or in the top Junior leagues in Ontario, or that we would send teams to national competition and compete with Lacrosse juggernauts. Abso-fucking-lutley not! But here we are.
Year after year there are more players I am hearing about who are pursing lacrosse collegiately. Whether in Canada or in the United States. Either that or they exploring their options for better box lacrosse in Canada. Or both. This is ultimately putting Scotia on the map. In addition to the individual success, Team Nova Scotia is also always well represented at the national level. From Peewee all the way up to the Presidents cup (the Canadian national Senior B championship) along with sending multiple talented teams to the Founders cup in recent years (the Canadian national Junior B championship) having great success there, hosting the tournament in 2014.
With so many options available to these Nova Scotian players now; I’d like to highlight some of the local players who have taken their lacrosse skills on to get an education and play at the highest level they can.
Brian Huyghue:
Tumblr media
Brian is product of the Halifax Hurricanes Lacrosse association. As an ECJLL alum, he plays his college Lacrosse as a senior attackman for the Divison II powerhouse Limestone College Saints in South Carolina. The Saints are 5 time DII champions most recently in 2017 in Brian’s sophomore season. In 2019 they came up short on a sixth title, losing to Merrimack in the national championship game. Brian tallied 28 goals and 24 assists in 21 contests this season at Limestone. Brian has an phenomenal outside shot, great stick skills and is very quick and deceptive in the way he beats defenders.
Jordan McKenna
Tumblr media
Jordan played all his minor lacrosse for the Dartmouth Bandits. He was granted exceptional status to play in the ECJLL in 2016 as a midget putting up 34 points in 13 games. His true rookie season in 2017, Jordan spilt time between the Junior B and Junior A Northmen in Orangeville, Ontario. 2018 saw McKenna return to the ECJLL for 6 games notching a very impressive 40 points. The Junior A Northmen are lucky to have Jordan for the 2019 box lacrosse season. Jordan has finished his high school lacrosse this season at Westminister in Connecticut. He has committed to Bryant university; a D1 program in Rhode Island for the 2020-21 season. The Halifax Mooseheads also drafted him in the 2016 QMJHL draft. His lacrosse IQ and his vision on the floor make Jordan very lethal offensively.
Zac Carrigan
Tumblr media
Zac played his minor lacrosse for the Sackville Wolves and is currently a member of the Sackville Sportswheels Junior A Wolves of the ECJLL. During the school year Zac plays his college ball as a midfielder for the Mars Hill University Lions. A Divison II program in North Carolina. During Zac’s sophomore season this year at Mars Hill, he was named an All South Atlantic Conference honorable mention. Carrigan tucked a team high 34 goals, adding 14 assists. His 48 points was second on his team in scoring. Zac is an excellent outside shooter and his offensive upside makes him a threat to score or create a scoring chance every shift.
This a just a small sample size of the lacrosse talent in this province. It’s insane. I referee all three of those players and the difference in their games since going away is amazing. American coaches have embraced the fact that Canadian players have a certain skill set that can be very helpful to the outdoor game. The three players above are prime examples of that.
I am not even mentioning the many players who currently; or have played at the university/college level outside of Atlantic Canada throughout North America. We also have some local players trying out…and making some of the best box lacrosse teams in Ontario at the Junior level. It’s been pretty cool to see our talent stack up with the rest of Canada, and now with American schools as well.
It’s been a hell of a ride watching this sport grow to where it is now. I’ve seen it go from not even knowing if we would have teams to fill certain divisions. Eventually it moved into having some select leagues and tryouts. More kids started playing the game, opportunities were capitalized on and so much hard work went into it. Currently our Junior A league now has six teams with one in New Brunswick, one in Truro and 4 locally in HRM. We have a four team Senior league again, the NSSLL. Which by the way is no joke. The word senior is misleading eh, these boys can BALL. I see you boys. Some of the best lacrosse you can enjoy for free. I will post more about this league but Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at the RBC centre in Dartmouth is serious lacrosse. The best players around over 21.
Some of the senior guys around here, and the odd junior player have even competed internationally in Prague, Czech Republic. The Nova Scotia Privateers are a travel team, that have been attending the Aleš Hřebeský Memorial Lacrosse tournament in Prague for over 10 years. This team has enjoyed great success placing second in 2018. Nova Scotia native Mitch Hannigan was named top goalie of the tournament in 2018 along with Matt Dunbar being named a defensive all star. Taking home a defensive all star in 2019 was former Halifax Northwest Rebel Jasper Goodwin. Local guy Luke Parker, and Coach Rod Humphreys deserve a little butt tap as well. Parker is a staple on the Privateers roster and a dominant senior player. Check out episode 197 of The High Button for his story. Humphreys deserves tremendous credit for his work with senior lacrosse, and making the Privateers competitive every year. So yeah, we’re competing globally now. I think that’s decent?
Also a huge shout out to the female lacrosse in Nova Scotia which is kicking butt at all levels! Way to go ladies. The peewee, bantam, midget and junior girls divisions have gotten extremely competitive. Female players from the area are now also exploring their options to play and continue their education. We are also competing nationally with Team Nova Scotia at most age groups for female. My oldest daughter is excited to get started! So awesome to see.
Tumblr media
As if the growth of the game in this province wasn’t awesome enough, come December this whole damn city will be playing catch on their lunch breaks. December 2019 marks the inaugural season of the Halifax Thunderbirds. The National flipping Lacrosse League is here boys and girls! It was confirmed in February that Halifax is set to receive the NLL franchise which will be relocating from Rochester, New York. The Knighthawks have been very successful in Rochester winning three consecutive Champions Cups (2012, 13 and 14). The Thunderbirds are set to begin play in December at the Scotiabank Centre, where they will have 9 home games. With 9 games played on the road as well. This is monumental for the game of lacrosse in Nova Scotia. With all the success the province has had; I can only imagine what adding a professional team in our backyard will do for new registration. The Thunderbirds are pouring gas on an already fired up lacrosse community. I encourage all lacrosse fans new and old to get tickets and check it out. The atmosphere is amazing, they play music the whole game and of course serve booze. I promise you will love lacrosse when you watch it at this level and in this environment. Fun for the whole family!
So I guess if you asked me to describe the evolution of lacrosse over the last 20 years in Nova Scotia: I could have just told you it’s been incredible. But then I wouldn’t have gotten to write all this and embarrass myself. The state of the game is in a good place here, and I’m in a good place with how I’m involved with it. Officiating has given me a better outlook on the game. It puts a little money in my pocket but more importantly it keeps involved with a game that I love and has given me so much. Most of the coaches in the ECJLL I have either played with or against. Most of the players in the NSSLL I have either played with or against, and I love seeing the new faces come into Junior every year. I think most of the guys will tell ya that when I’m reffing the communications lines are open. Im going to always let you play lacrosse and deal with everyone the same. So yeah, I love how I’m involved, hope the boys love seeing me!
So there ya have it. My first attempt at any sort of writing for an audience. Hopefully that audience isn’t all related to me. There’s way more where that came from though. I’m hoping to turn this into maybe a weekly thing; to give you guys all that’s going on in local and professional sports. Feedback is much appreciated!
For now I’m signing off, thanks for scrolling.

09/09/2018 DAB Transcript
Isaiah 3:1-5:30, 2 Corinthians 11:1-15, Psalms 53:1-6, Proverbs 22:28-29
Today is the 9th day of September. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today as we turn the knob and step through the threshold of a shiny, sparkly, new week. And for some reason this seems to happen every seven days. Here we are at the beginning of another week. And this week we're going to read from the New International Version. And just a heads up, there's a fly…a fly flying around me and continually landing on my microphone. If all of a sudden you hear a giant smash and crash…that’s just me taking a swipe…though we’ll try to keep that at a minimum. So we’re picking up where we left off yesterday, which is always the custom, and that will take us back into the book of Isaiah that we began yesterday and we’ll read chapter 3 verse 1 through 5:30 today.
Prayer:
Father, we thank you for the gift of your word and as we move into this new week we anticipate all that you will speak to us through your word and we invite your Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, well up within us, lead us into all truth. Guide us on the steps and decisions that we have before us in this week, center us in your word, help us to recall what your word has spoken into our hearts as we make these decisions and carry these postures and have these conversations that are yet out in front of us. May we represent you in all things and may we do it well because you are leading the way. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi family. This is his little Sharif from Canada and I wanted to call and thank everyone who prayed for the family reunion because it was awesome. I was on the waiting list but a spot opened up so I was able to go. And I know many people couldn’t be there. So, I just wanted to share with you what it was like for me. To be honest, I felt really nervous to go, to travel all that way by myself, and also not to know anyone when I got there but even as I was driving into the camp where the reunion was happening a couple ladies waved to me as if they knew me and then as I walked toward the building a lady bounded up to me and shook my hand as if we were long lost friends and by the end of the reunion I felt like I really was among family and I just wish it would have lasted longer. So, I want to thank, specifically Janet from Kansas, Janisa from Florida, Cindy from Seattle for being so wonderful and embracing me so thoroughly. And also, there was a lady who spoke to me during worship, I didn’t catch your name but you told me how the Lord felt about my special times with him and that message was so right on and meant so much to me, I will not forget it. It’s written on my heart. So, thank you so much for that. Charlotte Phillips I’m praying for your grandson Tristin born two months premature. Also, Karen from St. Louis, it was great to meet you. You inspire me and so many others. If I start to name names I’ll forget somebody. So, thank you so much for being so wonderful family. I wish I’d been able to meet more of you but next time. Maybe they’ll make it a little bit longer next time. Anyway, it was great. Thank you to everyone who made it possible. Love you guys more than ever. God bless. Bye for now.
Hello Daily Audio Bible family. I’m so happy to be a first-time caller. I am Grandma Love and I have a significant issue with my dad who is 94 years old and is in hospice. At this point we have petitioned a court to appoint a conservator. His family has not cooperated. So, it’s two years later and they’re just now discovering that all of his property and all of his money was transferred to her daughters. I believe his wife has been __ by her family. They do not recognize their marriage because they come from the Philippines and the Philippines do not recognize a second marriage nor divorce…and she never got a divorce from her first husband. But at this point my dad is in hospice and is unable to speak, unable to walk and is not being visited by anyone except for me. And I reall,y really ask for your prayers that he be comforted and these last few days of his life, that he feel loved and cared for and surrounded by the Holy Spirit of the Lord. And I talked to him and he agrees, he was able to nod yes and no, that he knows that he’s gonna be in heaven soon and with the people that have passed before us. But he is so, so unhappy and so lonely and so distressed at the betrayal, that it has caused him significant problems. They have also placed him in a horrible decision, horrible places…that was horrible to me. And fairly nice when they came around and we were working together pretty well and then they took him into a nursing home and he can’t get out of bed. There’s no room in the nursing home. They’re way too busy to even deal with him…they…they can barely…
Hello Daily Audio family. I am a first-time caller. My name is Isabel, I’m from Australia in Melbourne. I just wanted to thank God for the Hardin family for Brian, Jill, and China, and the family. And also just wanted to thank Blind Tony for his amazing poems. You definitely need to write a book. And also for Victoria Soldier for your prayers. You’re such an amazing prayer warrior. And everybody who is part of this beautiful family. This campfire has honestly blessed me so much and I just want to praise God and thank God for all the DABbers because you are an important part of my life now. You know, just coming up on a year and half now and I’ve enjoyed every single day listening to the Daily Audio Bible. I do have a prayer request, an important request. My children, Priscilla and Joseph, with my first marriage, my ex-husband divorced me 10 years ago. I am now remarried to an amazing Christian man. But my daughter is getting married next month in October, the 27th and her dad is just cutting her off and also my son out of his life and he’s not really, you know, communicating with __ things of God and he’s __ . If you could please pray for him. He’s got a lot of major problems and he’s also been sexually abused that God showed me. If you can please pray for him. But the main important prayer request is you could please pray that he comes to my daughter’s wedding because she is feeling really sad that her dad’s not going to give her away and she wants him to be part of her life but he doesn’t want to. So, if you can please pray for this miracle that God can just do a miracle in this relationship. Thank you, DABbers. May God bless you. I will be calling back again and thank you for all your prayers. God bless you.
Hi. This is Vanessa in Texas and it’s been a while since I’ve called and I’m behind in my listening, but I started catching up again this week and I’d like to ask prayer for my friend Andrew in St. Louis. We’ve been friends for several years but virtually like this community. We’ve never actually met in person but we…we chat at work and have developed this really good friendship. And he…he’s going through a time of…a lot of self-doubt and he suffered a long time from depression. And a year ago he almost attempted suicide and instead of…instead of trying to end his life that night he reached out to me and I was able to…to help them and to talk to him. And so here we are a year later and he’s __ God and going to church and feeling much better. But he’s struggling. He doesn’t know what to do with his life. And, so, he could really use some prayers for guidance on what to do next, where his next steps are. He wants to do better, he wants to live a happy life, a simple life, an uncomplicated one but he just doesn’t know where or what. And he’s willing to do anything. So, yeah, if you guys could just pray for him, that the Lord will point him in a good direction in life and he’ll keep walking on a path with God. That would be awesome. Thank you very much. And I hope you’re all doing well. Have a great day.

Captain Planet, he's She’s our hero,
Gonna take pollution down to zero,
He's She’s our powers magnified,
And he's She’s fighting on the planet's side
1. Likeability is stupid, I type as I check to see how many likes the picture I just posted on Instagram has received. I am lying to myself, as I am sure Greta Thunberg is. She is quoted as saying, “I don’t care about being popular, I care about climate justice.” Sure, a part of me believes that but, Greta Thunberg comes off to me as that girl in class who challenges the teacher’s lesson. While everyone else is class is simply absorbing the information in front of us, she is questioning it. She is excessively smart for her own good and because she has something that sets her apart from others, I am sure she feels ostracized. I am sure her parents sat her down once or twice, told her being different will change the world someday, you know the whole after school special on bullying that Nancy Regan would approve of! I can tell by her speeches that I have read in her book, No one is too Small to Make a Difference that she truly believes herself to be “… just a messenger…” as she says in her I’m Too Young For This speech. However, in the same sentence she also says, “…and yet I get all the hate…” So yes, Greta doesn’t care about being popular, her passion right now is climate change, but the hate is affecting her and how could it not? Greta Thunberg is just sixteen years old and she is carrying the weight of the future on her shoulder. Her parents, if they believe it or not, were right, her differences are changing the world for the better and people hate that. Once she made the decision, herself, against the judgement of her family and friends that she would protest for climate change she put herself in a position that made her vulnerable. Greta, again, is an intelligent girl. She knows she will not be someone’s favorite person, she knows bad names will be thrown her way, and that others will speak down to her. If she were a normal teenager, the change she is bringing to the world would not be occurring right now. She knows that being popular isn’t her main objective-its climate reform. If Greta Thunberg put popularity over climate change, she could not be the messenger. She was a born messenger and I am thankful for her message
2. A year ago, September 2019, thousands of young people marched with Greta Thunberg in New York City for #climatestrike. I was not one among them but I have since researched the event and even watched the live stream. This movement had started 3,919 miles from where the march was occurring. This march would not have happened if one girl, Greta Thunberg decided to take a stand. Her perseverance created a movement. Although I wasn’t marching with her, the aftermath of her strike had repercussions that are still hitting us today. I look at all the posters that were made and they speak volumes for what that day meant, here are just two that I liked:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.
Greta Thunberg has a gift. She has Asperger’s syndrome, which helps her see things in “black or white”. In October 2018, Thunberg said something I find very profound about herself, “I think in many ways that we autistic are the normal ones and the rest of the people are pretty strange.” The way Greta views the world is powerful because if she viewed it any other way, I believe she would not be able to speak on such an important topic. “There are no grey areas when it comes to survival.” She sees the world so simply that when something does not make sense, she needs to make sense of it. Honestly, I grew up thinking climate change was too difficult to talk about. Reading Greta’s speeches, having her teach me in the simplest terms helped me a lot. Some people over complicate things and it not only confuses people but also makes them loose interest. Greta’s simplification really helps get her message across. We needed someone who can see this as a cut or dry situation because it then showed us how intense this situation really is.
4.
Everything was put on hold when the pandemic occurred on March 16th, 2020. Understandably, to many the world was ending, but what few people forget is that the world has been ending for a while. During the first weeks of the pandemic as we stayed inside we saw how animals were going back to their natural areas, how China’s air become cleaner with people stuck inside. We saw directly how much humans are the problem to this world. Although it felt as though we were in a long game of freeze tag, the pandemic has been great for raising awareness for many causes. The Black Lives Matter movement had a massive shift of support during the pandemic and climate change is right on its heels. In June, at the height of the pandemic, where no end seemed in sight and the world as Greta loves to tell us, was “on fire”, many were dismissing 2020 and calling for its end but on Instagram one post started being reposted and it struck me right in the heart: “What if 2020 isn’t cancelled? What if 2020 is the year we’ve been waiting for?....A year that screams so loud, finally awakening us to from our ignorant slumber…declare change…become the change…a year we finally band together…2020 isn’t cancelled…[it’s] the most important year of them all…” There is no time like the present and no other time then now during this pandemic where we can really make a difference in many issues we are having around the world.
5. Greta Thunberg and Beyoncé have a lot in common, my favorite thing that they have in common. They both know who runs the world-girls. Greta famously said, “…if a few girls can get headline lines all over the world…imagine what we can do together if we wanted too?” The power in this question is so profound. Unity is our best bet in saving this planet and in fixing many other problems in this world. At sixteen, this young woman knows the power females hold. Although we support anyone trying to make the world a better place, seeing such a young female take center stage is important to many because they can look towards them and think, “Hey they did this! I can too!” In Hamilton the musical, there is a famous line where, two immigrants say, “immigrants-we get the job done” and I believe in her own way Greta is saying, “Young women- we get the job done!”
6.
“…I don’t want your hope. I want you to panic…I want you to act as you would in a crisis...” Millennials and Generation Z are constantly told that they are the give-me give-me generation. We have everything we could ever want and yet we “still want more” We were put on this planet when it was started to burn from other people’s mistakes but instead of them putting out their own fires, we have too. Except we are “too young”, “not experienced enough” and we “don’t know what we are talking about.” I think they just don’t understand. They have idea of what being “young” is like but their experiences are different than ours. They were not given a planet that was burring as badly as it is now. They were taught how to stop drop and roll but instead of doing that as our world is burning up, they have stopped caring and dropped this subject when we bring it up to them. They “hope” for the best for us as they still there and enjoy the fruits of their “labor” That’s why Greta Thunberg’s closing statements in her famous “Our House is on Fire” speech are so important. We do not need your hope. We need action right now because what they choose to do or not do directly affects us. They want to be protectors but they are not. They are acting like nothing is wrong when we are in a crisis. The younger generation is acting like it why can’t they?
7.
Every great moment in history is lit with one spark. World War 2 was sparked by the assassin of a duke while today’s current BLM protests were sparked by George Floyd’s murder and our climate change reform has been sparked by an incredible young women, Greta Thunberg. Again, all these sparks were needed for actions to occur but to keep momentum for racial injustice and climate change we need to keep going we need to be the “wildfires” as Naomi Klien said. I have just joined the wildfire. Prior to quarantine, I really didn’t put much effort into saving the planet. I didn’t have time. I know that sounds selfish but I had school, two jobs, an internship and I also wanted to sleep. With quarantine and even just reading Greta’s book, I was able to become more aware of things going on in the world and what I can do to help. The simple things I do is recycle more, I have meatless Mondays and I have started making my baked foods to be vegan. Its with these small steps that I am making an effort to be a wildfire.

It was breathlessly reported this month by British newspapers that Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s American TV-star girlfriend, had been introduced to Queen Elizabeth II.
The teatime meeting — said to be over finger sandwiches and scones at Buckingham Palace — with her love’s granny was the most significant indicator yet that the 36-year-old “Suits” actress will soon step into her biggest role ever: joining the cast of one of the world’s most celebrated families.
Markle, who was photographed on Sept. 25 holding hands with Harry at the Invictus Games in Canada during their first public outing, is said to have given up her Audi lease in Toronto, where “Suits” films. And her work contract ends in late November.
It seems to be a case of when, not if, an engagement is announced.
Rumors are swirling around London that the 33-year-old prince has already proposed to his squeeze of 15 months after getting permission from his indomitable grandmother.
It’s an understatement to say that free-spirited Markle is about to experience a dramatic lifestyle change. As Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of “Majesty Magazine,” told The Post: “It’s going to be a minefield.”
Sources reveal that as the Los Angeles-raised actress prepares for a very public engagement and wedding, she is also being schooled in the ways of the Firm — the royals’ affectionate nickname for themselves. There’s no special “school” where Markle will learn how to curtsy, hob-knob with foreign dignitaries or emerge from a car without flashing her underwear.
British writer Katie Nicholl told The Post that Prince Harry has been Markle’s main mentor in all things royal.
“He knows how daunting this will be for Meghan and he’s keen for her to be relaxed in the company of senior royals,” she said.
Before the auspicious meeting at so-called “BP,” he would have told his girlfriend how to address the 91-year-old queen, strongly suggesting that she curtsy, even though that’s an optional move these days.
“Harry will have made sure Meghan knew how to address the queen and how to behave in her presence,” says Nicholl, who has written a forthcoming biography of Harry. “He calls her ‘Granny,’ but after Meghan had curtsied and called her ‘Your Majesty,’ she would have reverted to ‘ma’am.’ It seems strange to mere mortals, but it is how [Princess] Kate addresses her.”
The American divorcée will be encouraged to be herself — with one giant caveat.
“She will always have to remember, in public at least, that she is royalty and certain behaviors are expected,” said Seward, whose latest book, “My Husband and I”— chronicling the marriage of the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh — is soon to be published.
“It’s going to be difficult for her because she is an independent career woman who [won’t] really like being told what to do.”
Markle’s position is unprecedented, although there are echoes of the scandalous love affair between divorced US socialite Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII that led to the king’s abdication in 1936.
“We’ve never had an American divorcée marry someone who is in line to the throne,” said Seward. Harry is currently fifth in position, behind his father, Prince Charles, brother, Prince William, nephew George and niece Charlotte. He will be shunted to sixth place after the birth of William and Kate’s third child next April.
“American manners are different than British manners,” Seward added. “[She] can’t walk down the street eating or chewing gum.” Markle will even have to correct her table manners. “We hold our cutlery differently. It’s a whole different culture.”
Markle did well in her new role in a September Vanity Fair cover-story interview, sanctioned by Harry, when she revealed: “We’re two people who are really happy and in love.”
Still, the corridors of Kensington Palace (where Harry lives in an apartment near William and Kate) are a long way from the San Fernando Valley, where Markle was raised by her yoga-teacher mother, Doria, who is black, and lighting-director father, Thomas, who is white.
When she launched an affordable clothing line in 2016, shetold the Toronto Star: “I was not a girl who grew up buying $100 candles. I was the girl who ran out of gas on her way to an audition.”
She first attended the private Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse and then an all-girls’ Catholic school, Immaculate Heart High. Markle studied theater and international relations at Northwestern University, just outside Chicago, where a fellow alumnus remembered her as being “very sophisticated for a college student.
“We were in our early 20s but she seemed like someone 10 years older. She had the poise and grace it takes to being a royal.”
By the time she graduated from college in 2003, Markle had already made her screen debut in “General Hospital,” which led to roles on TV shows such as “90210,” “Knight Rider,” “CSI:NY” and, ultimately, “Suits.”
Charles Rae, former royal correspondent for Britain’s Sun and author of the book “Diana: The People’s Princess,” believes the starlet’s professional skills will come in handy when she signs up with the Firm.
“She’s a natural performer and will chat with people with ease,” he said. “Besides, everyone will be intrigued by her accent.”
It’s not as if Markle lacks experience in public speaking. A global ambassador for World Vision, she traveled with the humanitarian organization to Rwanda for its clean water campaign. Her résumé also includes working for United Nations Women as part of the HeForShe gender-equality movement. All of this earns her extra points with the royal family, as she would be expected to perform charity work and have pet causes as a princess.
Rae, who described the possibility of Markle marrying Harry as “the best thing to happen to the monarchy in years,” revealed that the brunette has been “studying hard” to fit into the lifestyle.
“She has practically been living at Kensington Palace whenever she is in London and will have seen the routine that goes on with the butlers and servants,” he told The Post.
As of late, Markle has been zipping around London in a new Volkswagen — sometimes, but not always, with a driver. According to the Daily Mail, this is significant because the royal family has a deal with VW in which they get a 60-percent lease discount; Princess Kate had a similar deal, leasing an Audi (owned by VW) before marrying William.
It will likely only be after an engagement is announced that Markle will receive formal briefings on her public appearances. A personal assistant will also be hired.
As Seward points out, advance information on how to dress correctly could have helped Markle ahead of the Invictus Games, where she famously wore ripped jeans.
Meanwhile, the royal protection squad, an elite team of police officers, will be on hand to advise her on dealing with the traditional “walkabouts” so loved by the British public.
“She will learn how to cope if someone [in a crowd] comes on too strong,” said Rae. “Ever since John Lennon was shot, the royals have been told never to rebuff anyone. Members of the family, including the queen, have had assassination attempts against them in the past, and no chances will be taken with Meghan.”
As with Grace Kelly, when she became the princess of Monaco, Markle’s “acting career will, of course, be a thing of the past,” Rae said.
Robert Lacey, historical consultant for the hit Netflix series “The Crown,” told The Post that Markle will not be expected to take British citizenship — mainly because of Harry’s low place in line to the throne.
“Her position as the wife of Prince Charles’s second son would not warrant it,” said the author of the upcoming book “The Crown: The Official Companion.”
The Greek-born Duke of Edinburgh [Prince Philip], now 96, became a British citizen in March 1947, eight months before his wedding to the then-Princess Elizabeth.
“Times have changed and the heat is off Meghan,” added Lacey. “She is a new recruit but, apart from being assigned a lady-in-waiting, it would be demeaning for her to get too much advice from courtiers.
“The best person to give Meghan advice would be her fellow divorcée, Camilla [the Duchess of Cornwall and Harry’s stepmother]. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had taken Meghan aside for a strong gin and tonic and some helpful tips on joining the royal family,” Lacey said. “She’s a very funny woman who’s had it all thrown at her but survived.”
Rae said the royals have learned lessons from the ill-fated introductions of both Princess Diana and Sarah, the Duchess of York, to the royal family in the 1980s. “Kate Middleton’s entry into the world went relatively smoothly in comparison.”
Last week, the Daily Mail reported that, when Middleton joined the royal family, an agreement was drawn up among Kate, her parents and Prince William to protect her from undue stress during the first five years of marriage. “Prince Harry is said to be considering a similar agreement to shield [Markle] from palace courtiers who like to keep their charges busy,” said the newspaper.
Speculation is now rife that Markle will appear on the balcony with Kate, Camilla and the queen as princes Charles, William and Harry place wreaths on London’s Cenotaph memorial on Remembrance Sunday, the British equivalent of Veteran’s Day, on Nov. 12.
“Meghan will no doubt follow royal protocol to the letter and wear a nice black coat and hat,” said Lacey, adding that her presence will be another indicator of an impending engagement.
And Christmas is approaching. If Markle is invited to Sandringham, the Norfolk estate where the queen and her family spend the holidays, she might as well be walking down the aisle at Westminster Abbey.
“I just hope she enjoys pheasant shooting,” said Rae. “When the birds drop and they’re not yet dead, Meghan will be expected to join the other royal ladies in wringing their necks.”
“[She] can’t walk down the street eating or chewing gum.”
by: Ingrid Seward
Does Ingrid Seward love to insult people? Is that her favorite past-time? She really needs to let it go, the monarchy has to evolve, modernise, if they are to continue well into the 21st century.
However, I honestly believe that Prince Charles will be the last monarch.
SUBMITTED
I can’t be bothered to read this.
But from the mild skimming, I don’t believe that meeting took place
Of course Harry will help her when need be, that is what the born royal does for his partner - married yet or not.

Blog Post # 1- OVO Fest
Tumblr media
Since the beginning of university I have been the type of person who enjoys exploring the world and attending different events whether it be concerts, festivals, sports games etc. Prior to university I was never really the person who enjoyed large audiences because of the unfamiliar faces I encounter unsure if it was a safe environment for me. An example of this, is when I first attended my first sports games in 2007 with my family; My mother took me and my brother to a Raptors game where they faced off against the New Jersey which was a very anticipated game cause of the rivalry. Once we had taken a seat in the Air Canada Centre I was found myself shocked at how many people were attendance for this game causing me anxiety. Mind you prior to this game had never been around a large audience of unfamiliar faces causing me to be unsure of what to expect from this environment. I was an individual who rather sit in the comforts at my house with a few friends and watch the game rather than a bunch of strangers. This was massive step for me coming to the game because I was outside my comfort zone at the age of 12 and I didn’t know how one was supposed to behave within this environment. Eventually as the game went on I became more comfortable with my surroundings and found myself actually chanting along with the other Raptors fans “let go raptors” which was a big step for me. At the time the opposing team had player that once played for the Raptors and then left, so every time he touch the ball the arena rang out with boo’s towards this player. I had personally had no hard feelings towards the player but the environment and audience I was a part of influenced me to partake in these hostile chants. Moreover, after this event it opened the idea more of going out to events with friends or family with large audiences but it wasn’t up until grade 12 I started to attend different events. Even if I had no immense interest in the event but my friend or family member did I would go just for the experience in hopes to engage and interact with new crowds.
This past summer I attended an event called OVO fest where numerous amount of global superstars came out to perform for the city of Toronto. OVO fest is annual music festival held by global icon Drake in which he comes back Toronto every year and performs with a bunch of stars within the music industry. 2010 was the first OVO concert held by Drake at the time labeling it OVO (October’s Very Own) because it was the name of his own record label. The main purpose was to give back to the city by bringing multiple popular artist within the music industry to put on for the city he was born and raised in. In addition, he wanted to expose the culture and identity of the “6” a term coined by him referencing the city of Toronto.
Tumblr media
It was a two day festival that took place right after Caribbana, a festival held in Toronto which attracted many tourist to come out and celebrate the Caribbean culture. This event is able to generate a lot of anticipation because the audience was never really sure what artist was performing it and of course Drake. The event every year attracted many different individuals from different countries to come and experience a festival where a megastars would all perform on the same stage and be in the same venue, which is rarity in today’s music industry. What once began as a small musical festival has generated a lot of success within northern America creating anticipation every year. I and two of my best friends decided to go to this OVO fest this past August because of the great things we heard about it from our other friends and the fact our favorite artist would be there. Prior to attending this event we had never really had the chance to go because of financial reason or complications in our work schedule. So we made sure that we scheduled everything perfectly so we could make it to the festival this year. This was a festival we had anticipated from the beginning of summer waiting anxiously for the release of the tickets. I don’t remember the exact date I purchased the tickets but I remembered sometime mid-July and we were lucky to have gotten them. Due to the popularity of the event tickets sold out within 30 seconds being one of the fasting selling OVO events since the inception. Once we had the tickets purchased we booked an Airbnb downtown near the Air Canada center for the weekend of the event. Even though event had been a few weeks away I and my friends were so nervous because we were unsure what to expect from the festival and was only going off of the word of our friends and social media post. I had never seen Drake perform so I was unsure if he would be a good performer or sounds as good in person. A lot of have planning and money had went into this festival and so we wanted to go as smoothly as possible. The festival finally arrived Monday night August 8th 2107 around 7pm in which I had been nervous like I was about to write an exam. I and my friends patiently waited for the concert to start and then finally appeared a replica of the CN tower were Drake stood.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, as I observed my surroundings you could see people of all different ethnicities and races beside each other holding signs and screaming at the appearance of Drake. This made me realize that OVO fest almost symbolized unity of all people no matter races, disabilities, or ethnic; it was a time for people to come together and enjoy music from their favorite performers. Once the first song came on everyone in the audience rapped along with Drake including myself which felt like the mass audience was forming a bond with one another. It was very interesting to see a bunch of strangers rap to each other the song lyrics being that you have no idea who you are interacting with. I guess that was the special thing about music, it was able bring a large group of people together allowing them to share a memorable moments with one another. As well, I realized that almost everyone in the crowd had OVO clothing on with either an owl or a 6 print. Reason being, aside from his music Drake is also known for his clothing line OVO that has an owl or the number 6 (Known as Toronto) on the front of most his clothes to represent and promote his city and label. People from demographics all over the world had been wearing an owl or 6 on their body; demonstrating how the mass audience despite race or ethnicity we were able to all embrace the culture and identity of Toronto. Even individuals that might have not necessarily come for Drake still got to share a moment in the city that will stick for with us for the rest our lives. While the concert was taking places I was able to categorize myself into are three type of audiences.
Tumblr media
·         The first one being audience of mass: reason being there was a large collection of people gathered within Budweiser stage who possessed little to no knowledge of each other. Which was why I considered myself as an audience of mass is because aside from my two best friends I was alongside thousands of people I had never encountered before singing and rapping along to songs.  Although, most of the people in attendance share the same common interest, most were still unfamiliar faces to each other.
·         Secondly Audience of outcome: solely based on the fact that prior to this summer, I had never attended an OVO event but only heard about it through social media or friends. Instagram and social media played a vital role in motivating me to attend this event, through the videos I would see of previous festivals and experiences my friends I had to go. My participation in this event was solely due to social media and friends which I ultimately thank because it was one of the best concerts I had been to.
·         Lastly, audience as an agent: was another type of audience because even though the mass audience was all there for the same festival, the chance that the mass audience was there to see the same artist could have been slim. Example being, I personally went to concert solely because of Drake and him being one of my favorite musicians opposed to others in the audience that could have attended to see the other surprise artist in perform. Even though it was an event hosted by Drake and his is one the biggest performers in comparison to the other stars people could have been for other reason. One of the performers were the Migos who have built a huge fan base over the years which I seen poster of them being held up in the audience. This was a clear example of audiences of agent because not everyone in the mass audience came to see the same performer.
Tumblr media
Parasocial Interaction; However, the reason why seeing Drake was important was because I felt like I had built a parasocial relationship with him through following him on Instagram or his fan created pages. Parasocial interaction is the process of developing an imaginary relationship with a mediated person both during and after media consumption. Although, I have never had not formally met Drake, I feel like these media platforms allowed me to share a connection or interaction which would be considered a parasocial interaction. This is an interaction that most fans suffer from, most of the audiences whether it be Drake or not were in attendance solely based on Parasocial Interaction with these celebrities.
Identification: also plays a vital role in shaping consumers experience at events. Kelman’s believed identification involves internalization of attitudes, values, and beliefs of an object. In this case Drake OVO attire can be classified as identification because majority of the people at the festival that wore his attire which helped identify with the culture of Toronto. Whatever part of clothing individuals had one with an owl or a 6 number made them feel like they were a part of the city like Drake. Identification helps people build a relationship with certain events reason being, once you the festival was over and I were the OVO top I wore the same night of the concert I find myself reminiscing about that experience. These objects allow you to build memories with the event which ultimately lead to relationships and rituals In addition, while at the festival I seen many people go crazy and cry over certain performers like they were some type of God. I was beside a women that was started to burst into tears once Drake made his first appearance for the night which caught me off guard never seen someone react like that. It was almost like a form of worship in which we talk about in the course.
Worship: In William J Brown article it talks about celebrity worship and audiences giving celebrities status normally give to God. Seeing how some of the people reacted to artist performing it was almost like they were obsessed and overwhelmed by their presence. The article also discusses there being three different levels of celebrity worship in which I think most people in the audience possessed low-level worship. I personally was a victim of low-level worship as I found myself involved in many interactions that night with my friends and strangers about Drake. I also keep up with on his Instagram and like most of his photos and through makes me feel a certain connection.
Tumblr media
Moreover, I won’t say OVO fest was a life changing festival for me but it definitely showed me the power of music and how it could bring a mass audience together. I a met couple of people I still interact with until this that I would never had met if not for the festival creating new relationships in my life. It is evident that although consumers may attend as different audiences we still not only build a relationship with the event but also strangers who in some cases turn into best friends. Which explains why my friends recommended me to go to the festival because of the many different interactions I would have being in a new environment platforms making us feel connected with these artist and even one another because we all shared something in common. This experience will be one of most memorable solely based on the fact that I was able to see one of my favorite artist of all time perform for the first time. This was a special moment for me because aside from getting to share this moment with some of my closet friends I was also able to interact with strangers that shared the same beliefs and attitudes towards music helping me build new relationships.

“3… 2… 1… And we’re on Canadian soil.” Clint stated from the pilot seat of the Quinjet, eyes looking down on the GPS system. “Anyone feel any nicer? Like they enjoy hockey a bit more?”
No one answered him, especially not Y/N. She had been silently seated as far away from the others that she could through out the entire flight. Natasha wasn’t able to do anything to help with everyone else being so close. She had simply watched Y/N from a distance to make sure that she at least physically appeared to be alright.
Natasha knew it was hard to live multiple lives as multiple people. She had been through her fair share of difficult decisions due to feelings that had developed for someone they definitely shouldn’t have. Y/N was an amazing agent, but she was only human. Even the worst people on earth have the possibility of being heartbreakingly kind when they so wish, and she had fallen for that curtain that had been hiding all of the bad when she was around.
Y/N had done nothing but think about the situation she was in since they left New York. Dimitri was a ruthless murderer who was planning on killing her friends, but they had formed a bond within just a few weeks of knowing each other that she couldn’t possibly explain. He had just been so broken and she had so long had a stupid dream of fixing a broken man. She had fallen for him without even noticing.
“Hey?” Steve called out towards Y/N. “You with us?”
Her eyes dragged up, staying silent yet paying attention. Steve remained eye contact with her. He could tell something was up. She had been her normal self when filling them in on the case but she had drastically changed after that. She was so lost in her own mind she hadn’t even heard Clint talk to her nor had she join in on any discussions during their two hour flight and counting.
“Did you hear Clint?” Steve asked even though the answer was obvious. Y/N looked up to the marksman who was flying the aircraft.
“I just asked if you want to tell us a little bit more about this place we’re going to?” Clint repeated himself.
“It’s heavily guarded both day and night.” She began, her voice as good as monotone. “Dimitri is a first-class hypochondriac when it comes to everything relating to his own safety. It’s essentially impossible to get inside in stealth-mode. That factory is more or less a fortress.”
“What about practical things? Lookouts, dead ends, weak spots in the structure… Anything that can be to our advantage?” Bucky had also been very quiet, but that was far from uncommon. At first it had been because he still did not feel at place with the Avengers but the silence stuck even after he began to settle in. It was simply who he was, or at least what he had become.
“There is a sniper post on the south east side of the premises. An old silo, very difficult to see. The two trucks at the back are not just parked and waiting to be used. They’re stationary monitoring centers for the security cameras as well as break-rooms for the guards, and forget about the gates on the loading bay of this place. They’ve been barricaded from the inside with old storage crates loaded with unused steel. They’re unmovable.”
Natasha looked over at Y/N in concentration, wishing the agent would have just stayed at home like Natasha had asked her to. “What about possible points of entrance?”
“The main gate is the crown jewel of this place and the most heavily guarded, but from the sheer aspect of getting inside, that’s the easiest. The only other option we have is finding the entrance to the unused sewers underneath, but even if we manage to find where it leads out, it’s still guarded and there is only one way forward and one way back.”
“We can’t take the risk of getting ourselves locked in like that.” Natasha didn’t like any of their options but bursting through the front door, guns blazing, sounded better than being trapped with open fire from both ends of a sewer.
“What if you head inside alone first?” Bucky suggested to Y/N. Natasha’s eyes snapped up to him, still and expressionless as a stone despite screaming at him to shut up inside her head. “You could lure him out or at least tell us how many guards he has mustered up since you left.”
“Good idea.” Y/N agreed, not a single sign of emotion within her which Natasha found more than unsettling.
“Not a good idea.” Steve corrected her disapprovingly to Natasha’s relief, as well as Y/N’s, even if she was too blinded by the complicity of the situation to realize that. “No matter where you will be able to lead him or what information you will be able to give us, you’ll be in the heart of it all once we attack. You’re not going in alone and that’s a final, undebatable, order.”
“What other options do we have, huh?” Y/N spoke back, her voice nearly shouting, which was more than proof for everyone that she wasn’t herself. She had never argued with Steve, never about anything significant and definitely not about anything work related. Her first and only job apart from SHIELD was in law enforcement. That meant she was given orders and was given them by a captain, the same way it worked at SHIELD and when being the Avengers’ liaison. It was in her very nature to follow orders, a stipulation she had worked under for all of her adult life.
If she went against orders despite her flawless loyalty and equally as impeccable history, there was no doubt that she was not in her right set of mind. Y/N defying orders had the same sense of meaning as Steve ripping an American flag apart or Clint choosing a gun over his bow. It put the entire team in silence, no matter how dramatic that seemed, because to them it wasn’t.
“You’re telling me whatever it is that you are not and you’re doing it now.” Steve stated, his tone a mix between demanding and worrying and reflecting his own emotions perfectly. Y/N was not only a skilled agent and therefor a coworker but she was also a close friend. She came to every one of Tony’s gatherings, whether the guests consisted of what seemed to be half of Manhattan or the Avengers alone didn’t matter. If she hadn’t been wearing a SHIELD badge and working alone so much she would practically be part of the team.
“I’m focused on the mission.” She lied, a white lie, but still it wasn’t the truth. “I’ve been undercover for two months and I don’t want to waste that time by making a mistake.”
“Y/N.” Natasha called out and Y/N knew exactly what she wanted. Natasha wanted for her to come clean, but that was so ridiculously much easier said than done. How was she even going to justify what she had done? She couldn’t. No aspect of her actions was acceptable as an excuse. She could blame her emotions and falling for Dimitri all she wanted to but as an undercover operative it was in her contract to be able to leave feelings out of the picture. Not only has she failed that, but she had done so at one of the more inopportune missions that it could ever have happened on.
Steve looked between the two women, frustration building up by being in the dark of whatever the two of them seemed to know. “What’s going on?”
Natasha raised her finger to silence Steve, eyes still on Y/N further down the Quinjet who had her eyes fixated on her trembling hands that fidgeted with her belt anxiously. “Everyone here understands.” Natasha reassured, causing Y/N to let out a sharp and breathless laugh as she looked up in the ceiling to control her tear-burning eyes.
“Really?” She questioned, sounding forcefully humorous.
“Yes, we do. You know a lot about most of our tragic backstories, a handful of he mistakes we’ve made too. You should know we understand. I even dare to say I believe you’re the most fault-free out of everyone here by a long shot… We all have to make mistakes, at lest one, and that includes you. Despite what we all may be capable of and the things we have all gone through we’re all human at the end of the day…”
“Y/N?” It was Bucky that time, and his voice was laced with nothing but pure and concentrated worry along with a hint of uncertainty as he wasn’t very good with consolation in any form. “I don’t know what you’ve done, but I believe Romanoff. Whatever this is all about I don’t doubt we’ll understand you.”
“Really?” She repeated in the same tone as before, looking straight at Bucky and then at the others. “Are you able to understand that I slept with a guy who is out to kill you? That I spent more nights beside him in bed that I can count on both of my hands, listening to him talk and falling for him more and more?”
Bucky, who had already had few words to say, found none after she was done talking. Luckily, Steve had plenty.
“Yes we do.” He promised, staring her right in the eye and not breaking away in hopes of that she would understand how genuinely he had meant that. “You are one of the most loyal people I know. You would never intentionally break that loyalty, and you still haven’t, even if you may believe that.”
Bucky had to speak. He had begun to process everything and he had too much on his mind to stay in his usually quiet and mysterious character. “You can try and convince me and the rest of us if you want, but I know that you weren’t aware of his intentions when you were with him. Nothing you can say will change that.”
She shook her head, looking away as she bit down on her trembling bottom lip. Of course Bucky would be able to figure out the case. He was just as good of a soldier as he was a detective. He could see the case of the situation as clear as day, understand the small mistake that Y/N had made and theorize accurately about what had happened. He didn’t need her to go through the pain and suffering of explaining it to him and he knew the rest of the team were on the same page as he was.
“You shouldn’t fight this. I’ve been in the position where I’ve had to fight people I’ve known and loved before, and there is nothing more damaging to one’s own soul than to do that…” Steve became more poetic, hoping the new tactic would have a better effect.
“I would never be able to live with myself if I was to sit this one out and any of you would get hurt. It’s already tough to have you guys here as it is, because whatever happened between Dimitri and I shouldn’t have gotten this far… I should have followed protocol and classified myself as unsuitable for the mission let some other agent handle it.”
Clint huffed, smiling slightly as he turned on autopilot and spun around in his seat to face the others. “No other agent would have been able to execute this mission as well as you have.”
She would have liked to believe that, but it wasn’t so easy. She had spent more time with Dimitri than with the Dimitri assignment, and she could only begin to imagine at what expense. How much more information on Dimitri’s operation would she have been able to gather if she had been focused? She feared it was a lot.
The equipment in the cockpit began to give off a calm alert, causing Clint to turn back around to look into it. “We’re approaching. T minus five minutes.”
“We need to settle for a plan.” Bucky looked in between the team that agreed with him completely. Whether the options they had were good, bad or simply not liked, they still needed to make a decision.
“It’s your call, Captain.” Y/N looked at Steve. She was far from a state where she trusted her own judgement. She would much rather have Steve act out his role as leader of both the mission and the team.
Steve wasn’t sure what the best decision was. He was used to being put before tricky situations that required tricky measures, but Y/N’s personal connection with their target made things even more complicated, no matter if he and the others understood and forgave her or if they didn’t.
To have Y/N enter on her own had little to no good possible outcome. If Dimitri was as obsessed with security the way she made him out to be, Steve doubted she would be able to get him outside in the open. Even if she somehow managed to, she would be far too exposed with no way to have her back covered. The risk of her being injured weighed far too much to even consider her going solo.
They could come in front and make one hell of an entrance. It would allow them to have their backs cleared, the element of surprise to their advantage, but risk Dimitri taking to extreme measures in one way or the other whilst they were digging their way inside to him. Still, Steve found it to be the best idea. If Y/N said that going in quietly would be near impossible he wouldn't question it nor would he take the chance of being caught and having no where to seek cover.
“T minus 3.” Clint informed, Steve rushing to come up with a solution.
“Alright, we hit them straight from the front with everything we’ve got-”
“No need for that, Roger-erino.” Someone emitted from the speakers around the aircraft, the voice all too familiar.
“Tony?” Clint turned evidently to look towards his right, and surely, Tony was flying beside the Quinjet in his Iron Man suit. Y/N unbuckled and walked to the cockpit, staring at Tony who shouldn’t at all be there.
“What are you doing?” She questioned, realizing how suspicious she sounded for being so hostile.
“Relax, Y/L/N… A little bird told me that you were on a mission and I decided to look into it. Saw that whoever this douchebag is has an army of mercenaries so I decided to help out a little bit.” His tone was almost suggestive, causing her to become suspicious.
“What did you do, Stark?” Steve also got up and walked to the cockpit.
“You should never hire mercenaries to serve your cause. They are loyal only to those with money – so – I split my last month’s pay in between all 75 of them and they were willing to keep up their act until we arrived… For those of you who are still a bit lost; they’re neutral in this. They’ll let us take this guy and waltz our way out. I doubt they’ll keep him down if he tries to make a run for it however. I simply asked them to act as if they had never talked to me and ignore us once we showed.”
Y/N was speechless and she couldn’t really put a finger on why. She had never even thought to question the loyalty of Dimitri’s men. She would also never have thought that his capture would be served on a silver platter the way Tony had more or less done. She felt as if she was defeated even thought it was they who had practically won.
“First lesson in Leading an Army 101; make sure your soldiers are on your side by their spirit and not for their profit.” Tony began to lower his altitude gradually. Further ahead rose the old factory in a clearing of the thick forest stretching out as far as they could see. She felt her heart skip a beat, the intimidating and dark structure bringing back nothing but bad memories and holding an eerie sense of familiarity to it. Two months wasn’t a long time, but it felt like it had been so much more than that.
“You okay?” Steve, who stood beside Y/N behind the pilot seat, placed his hand on her shoulder and met her eyes.
“I’m fine.” She assured. Whether it was true or not wasn’t important in the moment.
Clint began to guide the Quinjet down towards the ground, and as Tony had promised, the hired mercenaries were seen simply standing on the ground as they arrived. Clint aimed down towards the car-free parking lot and landed smoothly. A few of the soldiers sauntered up to the aircraft and towards Tony that landed after them. Natasha made her way to the chute in the back and pressed the button that opened it up, her other hand on standby at her hip where her gun was holstered.
Steve grabbed his shield from the wall where it had hung for the journey, Clint standing up and grabbing his bow that had been hanging beside it. Y/N was already armed and simply waited as the team prepared, eyes watching Bucky as he lastly grabbed his assault rifle off the weapon rack and walked to the back of the jet where the chute finally reached the ground.
Three guards stood outside, weapons in their hands, but that wasn't so strange. If they would have wanted to kill them they would have done it already. They had kept their word. Remained loyal to the best price.
Their eyes landed on Y/N who they undoubtedly recognized. They shared a look with one another but remained silent. She didn’t know if it applied to the three men before her, but she knew that some soldiers barely spoke English, which meant they tended to stay silent instead. She tried to not think about what their opinion was of her after seeing her clearly be on the side of the so-called enemy, but it was difficult. All her life she had cared too much of what others thought of her and that never went away.
“Alrighty…” Tony stretched his arms out and relaxed with a sigh in his usual, nonchalant manner. “Ah, that’s some real clean air we’re breathing. You feel that? You can’t get this back in the Big Apple, let me tell you.”
“Tony?” Steve called out, his voice low and eyes staring into Tony’s as he had withdrawn the mask of his armor. Tony could sense that there was more in the air besides less carbon monoxide. His eyes moved to Y/N who was uncharacteristically withdrawn and hesitant before back to Steve who almost seemed pleading. “Not now.”
Tony decided to listen. He may be a bit of a douche at times and just as many times he balanced on the line between okay and not, but he listened that time. All things considered, their mission was serious, even if it had become drastically easier due to Tony’s brilliant move to pay off the mercenaries. A guy still wanted death to the Avengers, and people usually don’t tend to strive for something they know is impossible to have. If that principle applied to Dimitri, then he had some kind of plan that none on the team knew about.
They made their way around the jet, Steve leading their group of six towards the large entrance of the factory that truly looked like a fortress as Y/N had said. The soldiers looked at them but showed little to no interest about what they were up to. The only thing that peaked their curiosity was Y/N walking in the middle of the group, head hanging low but clearly visible and recognizable with her hair pulled back for practicality.
“This place is giving me the creeps.” Clint confessed as he wandered to Y/N’s right. He stared up at the towering building that was so dark that the top of it, where the light from lampposts on the ground did not reach, seemed to blend right in with the cloudy, night, sky.
The entrance gate of reinforced steel suddenly buzzed and began to creak open, a soldier in the small control booth nearby steeping out shortly after with an expressionless look on his face just like the others.
Steve turned around towards the team instead of proceeding inside. “Bucky, you stay out here with Y/N.”
“What?” Y/N took a step forward to be at a normal speaking distance with the leader.
“It’s an order. Will you follow it?” He regretted his words as soon as he had said them. He shouldn’t use Y/N’s single slip-up against her to his advantage. It wasn’t fair, but he didn’t find it in him to apologize in the moment. He would have to raincheck it for later.
She swallowed dryly, lowering her head again and nodding just enough for Steve to see it. Bucky walked around everyone and took a few steps back the same way they had come from to clear out the entrance way, Y/N joining him shortly after.
Steve waited until Y/N stood beside Bucky and turned around to face the entrance again, feeling somewhat relieved that she had complied. Even if Y/N was tough, the task she was putting herself up for was absurd. She shouldn’t have to deal with Dimitri at all. If Steve would have known sooner, Y/N would have been in the Stark Tower or at home and not in front of the building she had worked undercover in for nearly two months.
Steve let out a short sigh and looked between Natasha, Clint and Tony who waited for his signal. “Alright. Let’s get this over with.”

Home Renovation
Hello everyone! How are you doing today? I hope you enjoy this beautiful home renovation done by Molly Griggs Interiors and with photography by Marina Storm of Picture Perfect House (also featured here). This is a two-story colonial home that belongs to a young family of four. They purchased their home and it was gutted to the studs to make it more open and functional for their family.
In my opinion, this home feels trendy without being over-the-top. I am sorry, but please correct if I am the only person thinking that people are overdoing when it comes to trends lately. There’s too much of the same and very little authenticity out there. Every house looks the same and everyone seems to be using the same “formula”. I have been working hard to find spaces that have a “soul” and I hope you enjoy seeing how beautifully renovated and decorated this home was. Nothing feels overdone and you can picture people actually living in these rooms. After all, that’s why we spend time and money with our home; to comfortably live in it.
Have fun seeing this lovely family home and feel free to pin your favorite interior pictures and share this house tour!
