there’s something so sad about how we treat old people nowadays. historically, humans have accomplished so many great things because we valued our elders, took care of them, and gave them meaningful retirement. meanwhile we have seniors aged 60+ working in retail just to survive. can you imagine working your entire life, just to work until you die? in fucking retail?
old people are not useless, they’re not a drain on the economy, and theyre not all bigoted windbags. theyre people! people! who have lived their entire fucking lives under capitalism. they deserve to retire peacefully and pursue their interests during the final years of their lives. they deserve to be taken care of. they deserve to go with dignity.
there’s a hundred things wrong with how society views old people, but i never see anyone talking about it.

In the minecraft gods pantheon, Mojang should exist governing at the top as benevolent deity of multiple everchanging faces (like the pieces of their logo) and an echo-y voice.
Capable of changing the laws of nature and shape the universe to their creativity, always wanting to bring something better for their beloved players.
that, and also the hermits are their blorbos, I'm sorry but they are biased, except for Doc they despise him.

[French lady] The chinese people on their feet for Yuzuru Hanyu who just challenged the quadruple axel and almost succeeded even with a fall and the 6.25 points granted absolutely do not reflect all the work of this unique skater who blows us away with his sensitivity, his unmatched skating skills. He won't conquer the olympic title today, he might even be too tight for a medal but he's writing history more and more and for that we are thankful.
[French guy] Oh yes. Thank you, thank you Yuzuru for being so brave. I believe we can say it, the weakness of this system is that this score doesn't reflect Yuzuru Hanyu's supreme performance tonight. It's extraordinary, we have to realize/grasp the reality of what he did. Trying a quadruple axel and being able to go through all these difficulties afterwards because it takes so much energy, that doing two quad toes, two triple axels... it's amazing. He's a double olympic champion and rightly so. He is the GOAT [this commentator called him goat numerous times in the past so I felt this was the meaning in his voice] and this was the best quadruple axel we have ever seen. At practice it's often visibly ur, two footed while here he lands on one foot. He falls but he lands on one foot, very slightly ur...
[Lady] At 27! At 27!
[Man as 4A replays] Unbelievable. Yeah he's only missing one quarter. It's NOTHING, for a quadruple axel, NOTHING. It's an incredible attempt. Congratulations.
[Lady] He knew going for it could cost him a medal and he said he wasn't here for one but to keep pushing towards the quadruple axel, and he did. Bravo.
French Eurosport on Yuzuru.
