VINCENZO!!! yes let’s discuss!!! but first and foremost THANK YOU for recommending it. seriously i had given up mid-way thru the first ep a few months ago but no one can deny you have the best taste 😘😘

I LOVED IT!!! it’s actually now in my top 5 of all time. i binged the hell out of it, it was that good. (i even stayed up nights watching 😭)

i think the standout for me was song joongki, mostly bc of how adorable he is 🥺 i wanted to squish his cheeks (and other things 🥴) and him and hanseo???! the softness! the lil face slaps! him finding hanseo cute! 🥺 and kwak dongyeon was perfection. i cant remember the last time i saw a redemption arc that massive 😳 oh, actually the only one i can think of to compare it to is steve from stranger things. he went from being kinda annoying to one of my absolute favourite characters. the fact that he tried to fit in with the trio was so adorable, i couldn’t stop saying ‘cute, aww cute’ pretty much everytime he came on screen after he switched to vincenzo’s side. remember when they quizzed him 🥺 he studied. he actually studied. pls he just wanted a head pat and someone to tell him he was doing a good job :((( he was actually such a sweetie pie, imagine if he didnt have the devil incarnate as a brother, he would have turned out so well. vincenzo was the brother he deserved 💔 and i just, i can’t get over how things ended for him (wait no they didn’t end, he’s definitely coming back in season 2!!) tbh i was actually pretty mad at vincenzo for not stepping in and doing something, anything, to stop what happened. to save him. 💔 he’s such a skilled fighter, i feel like he could have jumped in and maybe avoided… i can’t even say it 😭

ok, but on a happier note, vincenzo’s relationship with chayoung was also super adorable, that slow burn was everything! EVERYTHING!! their 10 second hug? her smacking him? 🤣

and chayoung was such a badass character, i wish i could be that brave and assertive. and man oh man, she is so strong! the way things ended with her dad, that scene was heartbreaking :(((

ok switching back to happy, can we talk about the male on male affection in this show?? i never get to see it and it’s just so disappointing bc yes! pls hug each other! kiss each other! tell each other you admire the other! it’s healthy! it’s freeing! i’m such a sucker for tiny displays of affection, and his interactions with everyone had me clutching my blanket on the verge of tears. ugh every single person in this kdrama was adorable. the intelligence agent especially, his awestruck admiration for vincenzo had me both soft and cackling 🤣

but all the geumga plaza ppl were surprisingly cute with really interesting back stories. it’s funny, i was thinking to myself how weird it was that all of them had some special talent and then they said the same thing seconds later 🤣

the estranged mother side story was also heartbreaking. i wish they had more time together and that he could have called her mom, but i understand him and why he couldn’t say anything. at least they both knew it before she died, and i’m so grateful chayoung was there to bring them together 🥺💕 the scene where she hugged him, i bawled. and when she was talking about him as he was bawling. and then again when he read her letter 😭

ok last but not least, taecyeon!! i can’t believe i didn’t recognize him??! but he did such an amazing job. and the plot twist was perfection, i was in shock and that hardly ever happens for me (my stupid brain always anticipates plotlines 😭😭) i went from finding him adorable to being in love to hating him resolutely to feeling really sorry for him all in the span of a few eps. although i can never forgive him for how he treated hanseo 😔

but he is an incredible actor! and the writers are also amazing. choi myunghee also did a fantastic job! i hated her but i guess i was supposed to 🤣 oh! that scene when vincenzo came to their hq and shot his mother’s killer gave me goosebumps, it was so well done 👏

i rambled on here oops… but there was sooo much to talk about! there’s a lot more but i should stop here haha. who were your favourite characters?! favourite moments?!

The night before the Games Mizzen will talk to Coral and ask her if you can join their small alliance

Although you're the same age, you're shorter and look weaker, which leads people to underestimate you, which is exactly what Coral does.

When the Games do starts you don't even try to go for the weapons, you'll try to escape and hide instead

You somehow manage, and when the dust is settled, Mizzen will come out to look out for you. Totally against Coral's advice lol

And knowing that Astarion wanted to Ascend in order to be able to protect Rose too, in some way, breaks my heart for him, because he probably understands how stupid it was, and how much pain he brought Rose with that decision, but also how he was hurt in the process too... Also, Astarion in a jumper! WITH THE CAT! So far away from scary Ascended, it melts my heart. And him being embarrassed over bargaining in on Rose taking a bath, so worried and willing to face her in case she got hurt again... Aww, is the only thing I can say.

Not me waiting for the epilogue chapter to be Rose and Astarion on a double date with the Dekarios family. And I'm never letting my cat be alone in proximity to Gale. Nope. Also, I'm trying to imagine Astarion's shock when the whole clan of Gale's children starts climbing all over him. That will be hilarious.

This chapter was so sweet, even if it brought something to think over, and that forever quest for acceptance of your past mistakes in order to move on, that fear of facing it, because it will be hard and painful... Yes. I can imagine the road to happiness will be long and thorny for both of them.

I had a lot of visions for what this aftercare portion of the fic looks like, to be honest, but mostly it's just Astarion trying to rebuild his personality from the ground up and then trying to do it as quickly as possible so he can land himself a baddie lmfao. I don't know how well I'll pull it off, bc there's a lot of big things to unpack there that also, I don't think, make for a particularly interesting reading experience, so a lot of it happens off-screen. But for right now, I'm just grappling with an Astarion who feels bit weird about flirting, meanwhile Rosalie is like "he's not flirting with me? :( maybe he doesn't... like me :("

I also just feel like Shadowheart's story is the neatest by the end of the game (her just T-posing in the background of the post Netherbrain trauma congaline on the docks, lmfao) but that there are things about her story, at least in my playthrough, that would actually equip her for understanding Astarion more than Rose does. I wanted to give a little space for the acknowledgement that most of the companions have experienced more emotional and moral nuance than my Tav has in her entire life :')))

Reaper and dill's relationship is very beautiful, dill was at horrible disadvantages due to her illness. Being underfed due to how impoverished district 11 is and she's clearly very young based on her voice I imagine she is 12 or 13 she must have been so scared due to all that add on to the fact that was taken away from her home and family knowing she is headed to her death.but she wasn't alone reaper was willing to protect her at all costs and willing to look after her it must have meant so much for her that her district partner who could easily abounded her and be on his own considering he had better odds of winning chose to stick by her side and look after her and it also shows how kind and caring reaper actually is ,he sees a weak young girl being put into a unfair situation and he diceid that it is going to be his responsibility to be the only form of safety and protection she has . It also shows how the capitol dehumanized reaper they don't see any of his good virtues or how Nobel and responsible he truly is they only Saw him as a violent animal and a tough compatitor for their entertainment show and when he ripped the capitol flag to cover the tributes bodies they didn't see a teenager trying to give proper respects to dead children they saw a horrible act of treason Because he dared to remind the capitol that they have the blood of innocenct children on their hands.

The way district 11 boys always care about their district partner is so beautiful first it was thresh saving and spearing katniss for her helping rue and now reaper looking after dill almost like a Big brother.

Side note: why are district 11 little girls always so cute every time I see rue or dill I always want to hug them and stroke their hair 🥺🥺 they were both so innocent and didn't deserve what happened to them 😔😭💔

you and Vi have been dating for a long time. recently you both have been busy with work and stuff that you usually just come home and sleep immediately, one day you both had the same weekend off so you were able to spend time together for the first time in a few weeks. you were throwing ideas out and vi finally suggested

“how about we go on a picnic?” she said, holding your hand inside of her bigger and rougher ones. she was rubbing your knuckles, you looked at her and smiled you nodded in agreement with your girlfriend

“absolutely! i miss our picnic days”

“so do i. c’mon, let’s get ready” she patted your thigh as she got up. she went to shower and you went and got the food made. Vi had the tendency to take long showers because she sometimes cleaned whatever injuries she had inside the shower and usually that’s a lot.

after about 45 minutes Vi came out from the bathroom and went to find you in the kitchen. you were closing the basket just as she hugged you from behind. she tried using one hand to open the basket but you swatted her hand away from it

“ow!”

“no touching the basket missy”

“why not, boss?” she turned you around to face her, you laughed and raised your hand to play with her damp hair

after you were done you both left with the basket, Vi drove to the park in your car and you both listened to whatever she wanted to listen to. you’re pretty used to her music taste honestly. she listens to a lot of metal and rock. you’ve even started listening to some bands she listens too. once you got to the park you found a spot pretty far from people. you set up and got the food out. Vi was excited after she saw you made her favourite food.

“that was the surprise?!” she said, grabbing the tupperware full of it

“yeah, i told you to wait silly head” Vi smiled before going to kiss you on the cheek. you both started eating and talking about whatever you wanted to.

it was a good few hours before you both realised what time it was but you both didn’t do anything about it. you both were laying on the blanket looking at the stars in the sky, enjoying each other’s company. you layed your head on her chest and her arm was wrapped around you while her free one rested behind her head.

“you remember our first date?” you asked, breaking the silence between you two. she chuckled a bit and nodded

“how could i forget… the sprinklers turned on before we could leave” she laughed, you did too

“can i take your makeup off for you?” she asked, leaning on the counter, you were about to wipe your makeup off with a makeup wipe when she asked that. you nodded and placed the wipe down on the counter

“do you wanna try with no instructions or do you want instructions?” you asked, sitting on the toilet that had the lid down. you watched as Vi looked around and then at you

as for the second scenario angst .. huhu 🤭 but in all seriousness it just lines up with how much of a perfectionist he tends to be whether he admits to it or not. it's obvious he's working hard, incredibly so, and that desire to perfect and fulfill doesn't stem from a “oh it's something i have to do” but more or so “i want to prove everyone wrong.” and that mindset tends to unfortunately eat at him to a point such a notion becomes intertwined with his previous beliefs — i will never be good enough. he'd think and manage to convince himself a little too easily. back then, whenever nahida would spot him in that state, she wouldn't even utter a word to reassure him because he knows what she'll say, and it's during those times he doesn't want to hear those words. it used to be incredibly difficult for nahida to get him off his chair and assure him that he's done enough, but in his eyes what he managed to finish was nowhere near enough.

and you're so right about nahida having to get a book on how students should take care of themselves ;; convincing to take a break takes both your and nahida's efforts combined. it's during such times nahida is reminded of how grateful she is for your presence because if there's another person wanderer is willing to listen to that isn't her; it's you.

"Hey, Mae," Chay greets her as soon as she picks up the video call. "Hey, baby, aren't you up soon? Why are you calling now?" "I am, yes. I'm so nervous. Can you put Lizzie on? I think talking to her might help me calm down." Chay watches as his mother's smile crumbles at the question. "Oh, baby. I'm so sorry. We wanted to wait until the competition was over. We didn't want you to be distracted." Chay can feel his stomach starting to tie itself in knots. "Lizzie passed away, baby." He's not sure if he manages to say goodbye to Mae before ending the call. The app closes as he does and he finds himself staring at his background picture. Himself and Porsche, smiling wide enough to hurt; Lizzie between them, a little blurry because she'd been jumping and trying to lick Chay's face. The picture blurs more and more as he stares at it and it takes him a while to realize it's because he's crying. He doesn't remember how he gets through the rest of the day but he thinks he fell at least a couple of times during his short program.

In contrast to the day before, his abysmal performance during the free program is engraved in his memory with all the sharpness of a 4k movie. Coming in last place isn't a surprise after that but he still feels his throat close up when results are announced. He hides in the bathroom and debates answering when he sees a call from Porsche but he knows his brother well enough to know he will just keep calling back until Chay picks up. "Hia…" Chay's voice cracks and his throat locks up before he can say more than that. "Hey, nong. It's gonna be okay." Porsche's voice, even through the phone, is so warm and sympathetic. Chay feels the first sob catch, the second one makes it through, and then he's crying—right there in the public bathroom of the skating arena where the Grand Prix event he just bungled took place—with just enough awareness left of his location to try and stifle the noise as much as possible. He really wants a Porsche hug right now. It takes a while before he calms down enough to talk. "I'm sorry I let everyone down." He whispers into the phone. "You didn't," Porsche reassures him. "And you'll have plenty more occasions to shine. You're the best, Chay, today was just a small hiccup." They hang up soon after that. He wishes he had as much faith in himself as Porsche does sometimes. He's prevented from diving into another self-pity spiral by a loud bang and the door to his bathroom stall shaking alarmingly. "You almost done in there?" An angry voice calls out. When Chay eases the door open, he comes face to face with Kimhant Theerapanyakun, Junior Grand Prix winner and reputed both for his talent and his anger issues. Chay freezes like a deer caught in headlights. "You're such a loser," Kimhant bites out. "Crying in the bathroom like a baby." He leans up close to Chay's face and growls. "You should just retire now, there's no need for so many Thai skaters on the international level anyway." He punctuates the statement with a punch to the stall wall next to Chay's head and stalks off.

Chay wakes up the morning after the banquet with the worst hangover of his life and he's very glad to be heading back to the States with his coach rather than to Thailand if only so he doesn't have to wait at the gate with the Theerapanyakuns. Tankhun offers a media smile and to take a photo together like Chay is just another fan rather than a fellow skater. And Kimhant looks like he wants nothing more than to start biting people—Chay has no desire to get close enough to test that theory. He quickens his pace so he can be out of range that much faster. There's no time to worry about all this anyway. He has exams to take as soon as he's back at university. He's on a sports scholarship and his teachers make allowances for his professional schedule but Chay isn't keen on stretching their goodwill too much.

Porsche's words of encouragement don't prove prophetic and the rest of Chay's skating season goes from bad to worse and ends up being cut short when he doesn't qualify for World's. The silver lining to this is that it gives him enough time to study and he aces the last few classes he needed for his degree. He feels so home sick by that point that the decision to end things with his coach is easy. He packs up the last four years of his life and heads home, more uncertain than ever about his future.

all the pain i felt from reading jeonghan fic aside, i just wanted to tell you that your way of writing and incorporating songs references is really something else. i mean, the metaphor of drowning in the ocean throughout the whole fic??? and in all of the right places??? and the one broken promise that won't ever be made up for so now he can't help but stay by her side and bE happy without him?? and don't me get started on the hug scene, i actually dropped a tear

i knew the water metaphor would be obvious but i really did try to make the ceremony song.... hurt. bc like it's supposed to be a love song but i spun it in a way where it was painful for jeonghan.

fun note: listen to kacey musgrave's version of the song. that was the version i envisioned oc would be walking down to.

ALSO thank you again bc I know this one isn't as heavy on dialogues mostly because I wanted to show the silent pain Jeonghan was going through – like angst conversation hurts .... but feeling the character's pain oof i love that.

another fun note - this was originally supposed to be Minghao's angst but it made more sense for it to be Jeonghan (i asked for a second opinion to reaffirm my decision)
