Woman.
If I'm down to kill myself if he asks then I'm also ready to live for him. Do not undermine that.
I'd walk across the fucking globe if he asked me to. I'd kill someone for him. I'd let him abuse me in any way he wanted - physical, mental, sexual - I don't care. I love him, I don't care. I need his attention. I need for him to notice me and care about me. And he is - stay winning girlies 🫰💕

hazel falling in love with her childhood family friend is rotting my brain actually.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
wc : 1383
sfw and slight nsfw? fem reader. thanking emma and rachel for making hazel rich because i love writing rich people stuff. i’d say maybe a good mix of cocky!hazel and loser!hazel because i love both so bad.
Tumblr media
so for the first six years of her life she spends her winter holidays at a beautiful chalet in aspen with her parents, spending the days having snowball fights with her dad and falling asleep by the fireplace with her mom.
just like. she's rich, and her mom seems like one of thos wealthy women who loves to go on vacation to show off her perfect life and her perfect friends, so she or her husband definitely had a vacation house they'd visit every year.
when she turns seven they finally let her start skiing on the bunny slope, figuring it’s better than the little evil genius thing she does with the pots and the tiny snowmen. for a little kid she's pretty good at the sport already, if not taking the pizza and french fry tip a little too seriously.
about an hour in though, she's taking her umpteenth trip down the hill when a four foot mass slams into her right side, going at way above whatever speed limit was allowed in this area. she's lying flat on the ground, her right arm aching and her hound pounding and she's about ten seconds from crying when she looks over to see you, face planted in the snow and your shoulders shaking as you laugh like you're insane.
both sets of your parents rush over to make sure that the both of you are ok, and after you manage to calm down a bit and give hazel a very formal sounding apology that your mom whispered in your ear, you ask hazel if she can help you learn to control your speed on the slopes.
so after an hour of driving her crazy as she tries to teach you how to control your speed, your moms sit at a table watching over the both of you while sipping on their drinks and becoming fast friends.
ever since then, each winter was spent together. whether it was spending time in the snow, (hazel continued to excel at skiing, eventually giving up on trying to teach you), sharing stories of your normal lives over cups of cocoa at the cafe in the ski lodge, and helping each other decorate your christmas trees that you both had to beg your parents to buy.
whenever she went back home the days following new years, she’d count the days until she could see you again. to compensate for the time apart your parents let you send a horde of letters and e-mails to each other, letting the two of you share long phone calls on their phones when you were still to young to have your own.
hazels secret favorite hobby became photography. you couldn’t go twenty minutes without her shoving her polaroid camera in your face. she’ll tell you it’s because she’s using the vacation time to explore and try new things, and not that she constantly looks back over the photos of you with a big smile and a flush to her face.
(she also won’t mention that she’s addicted to the feeling she gets when pj and josie come over to her house and pj goes ona ten minute rant about how impossible it is that a girl that pretty could spend time with hazel without being insane. she ignores the insult because she’s hung up on the fact oh called you pretty.)
now i think hazel was pretty much always aware of the fact that she liked girls, if not because she realized that being obsessed with a certain scene from cruel intentions and always volunteering to play the husband when one of her friends wanted to play house on the playground was, in fact, not straight.
but at this point she’s maybe fifteen, she’s starting to grow into her looks and she’s definitely not ready to admit she might has a crush on you. at this point you both have had your own phones for a while, and she couldn’t even count the amount of times she had fallen asleep with you over facetime.
over the course of that year she often found herself wondering what your sexuality was. dumb ass stereotypes had her believing there was no way you, pretty and popular and preppy you could possibly be gay. and if you were a lesbian there was no chance that you'd like her back.
it was just made all the more confusing when once she had complained about how she hadn't had a girlfriend, let alone a first kiss yet and she was nearly halfway through high school with no experience for the hundredth time that you told her you had a solution for her on your next shared trip.
so you can imagine her shock when three days after landing in aspen you pull her into your room in your lodge and sit her on your bed before telling her you knew the perfect way to get more experience was to experiment with you.
"your first few times kissing and stuff can be pretty awkward, so why not just do it with me? i can show you the ropes and stuff.”
now on the outside she seemed normal, agreeing with an easy smile on her face, but on the inside her brain was playing the loudest tornado siren known to man.
it starts tame, the first few days consisting of you just telling her about your past experiences with girls and how to take it slow and everything. she knows its important but it honestly feels like torture. every time you talk to her she's wondering about what you'll do to start the physical lesson, if you'll set her down on her plush bed and softly touch her, or if you'll finally get fed up with the waiting like she is and press her and take her against a wall.
if you had known you would have prepared, but hazel was a freak in disguise and had decided that she was ready to take things into her own hands. you had invited her to sleep over at yours and drink hot cocoa while watching christmas movies and she had accepted in a heartbeat. what she didn't expect was for you to be wearing really cute pajamas, your legs covered in little hello kitty's and christmas trees with a plain red top and geez she could see you weren't wearing a bra.
hazel was a ticking time bomb, and when the two of you were sitting on the couch and she watched the reds and whites and golds dance across your face and you looked ovver at her with a 'what's wrong, hazie?' she exploded, smushing her lips onto yours in a mess of limbs and teeth.
she can feel your giggles in her mouth as she presses you down into the plush of the couch, her excited hands gripping your cheeks before brushing over your chest and gripping your waist, grinding her hips into yours and groaning when your giggle turned into high pitched moans.
it feels like she kisses you for hours before you reluctantly stop, your hands going to press into her shoulders when her head follows yours to resume making out. "hazel, as much as i'm enjoying this we were supposed to be taking this slowly. since when did you know how to...do that?"
"i dont know i just," she sighs as she tries to catch her breath, starting to get embarrassed about what a virginal mess she must look and be acting like. but you seem to like it, so she starts to not care all that much. "i just really want you. i wanna do everything with you."
you smile and hold her cheek in your hand, her eyes fluttering shut at your touch. you look at the gentle expression on her face, the slowing of her breath, and how her hips still occasionally stutter downward looking for yours, and you cant find it in your heart to deny her. you never really could.
"ok, hazie. we can do whatever you want-"
you're cut off before you can finish, the girl quickly rejoining your lips together and groping at your body once again.
when she gets back from vacation, hazel is less single, less unexperienced, and more than ready to throw this in pj's face.
Tumblr media
i kinda lost inspo for this can you tell :,(((( but i thought the idea was cute so take this thing. bye.

Jack Frost x Spring Spirit Guardian Reader Relationship Headcanons
Tumblr media
Hello, I'm sorry this took so long, I hope you like it :)
Since both of your seasons are so close together, you both see each other very often
Sometimes he visits an area that you've already been through and makes a little snowstorm so the children can have another snow day and he gets to see you again and spend more time with you even though you just spent time with him very recently
He likes to call you nicknames, especially ones that are related to your season like petal, sunshine, dewdrop, sprout he uses this one to tease you, especially if you're tall or short
You both like to watch and play with the new baby animals that are born during spring
Whenever you two spend time with the other guardians, he likes to watch you interact with the people that he considers family, and they're all happy for the both of you
Bunnymund likes to tease Jack about your relationship since both of your seasons are very different, however this usually results in him covered in snow
If you have any little helpers or companions, he loves them and loves to spend time with him and will treat them as if they're his children
If you allow it, he'll even let them join him on his adventures while he brings winter to different parts of the world
He tells you about his sister and how he died protecting her
He likes to go sledding with you and making snowmen with you
Every little while he likes to make a snowball and toss it at you, causing you two to have a snowball fight
He also likes to make flower crowns with you, and he even makes some out of snow and frost and gives them to you
He loves PDA and loves to just hold you and cuddle with you
Whenever you two are cuddling or just being affectionate with each other like holding hands, he always notices how warm you are compared to him and his heart just melts everytime, he loves how warm you are compared to him
He absolutely introduces you to Jamie
He likes to make images of stuff you like on frosted window panes, usually it's your favorite animal, flower, or anything that reminds him of you
He worries about you and is protective of you, even though he knows that you can defend yourself, he can't help but worry a little bit, especially after dealing with Pitch and his past of not being believed in, he doesn't want anything bad to happen to the person he loves
He'll absolutely help you with whatever you need, whether it's helping you stay believed in or even if it's just comforting you or giving you moral support, he's willing to help you however he can
He'll always listen to any of your problems and whenever he sees that you're upset, he'll comfort you, either by cuddling you or by distracting you to get your mind off of whatever you're upset about, even if it's just for a little bit
He likes to ask you questions about the flowers and plants he sees, and loves to watch your eyes light up with glee as you answer his questions. He loves watching you get all excited and passionate
If anybody looks over at him while he's around you, they can't help but notice him looking at you like you hung the stars in the sky

Agere age guide
3 years addition
Hi every tiny and big! Make sure to check out my previous age guides!
Intro post
One year babies
Two year babies
I also want to add that not everything here will be accurate to all toddlers that regress to the threes and age regression is very fluid and individual to each and every tiny!
Traits And Behaviors
☠︎︎This is about the age that tiny tots start to identify with gender, they may gravitate towards certain styles and colors now
☠︎︎They can follow simple and short instructions
☠︎︎Now is about the age that these tiny tots start to like playing with other kiddos, instead of parallel play, they may enjoy playing together in games like dolls, they may build blocks together, simple puzzles are good too
☠︎︎Along side with being more interested in companionship, these kiddos may have a hard time sharing and need to be taught how to share
☠︎︎Usually in the two to three age range, these tots are just figuring out their emotions and learning how to manage their big feels, that being said, they may have a lot harder time regulating their emotions and they may have tantrums and meltdowns.
☠︎︎These babies are speaking in full sentences and are starting to express their needs with words and actions
☠︎︎Tots in their threes are starting to spring and walk around freely, you may catch them starting to climb things, jumping about, and running around the house. Even with these teeny toddlers starting to run about, their balance isn't the best yet, so make sure to be there in case they fall
☠︎︎These babies are starting to use the potty by themselves! Babies anywhere from 1.5-3 are starting to potty train, you may want to have these tots in pull ups when they go to bed but slowly, they'll become fully potty trained and need less and less help in the bathroom!
Activities
☠︎︎These tots are well on their way to doing most anything else any other kiddo can do! Big kid games may not be the best fit but most other things are on the table!
☠︎︎Sensory toys are tons of fun for these little babies, play-doh, sensory cubes, rattles and new textures to experience are lots of fun for these babies
☠︎︎Water play is a new and fun thing for these babies! Set up a fun bath with toys and bubbles and bath bombs and it'll sure be a blast for your regressor
☠︎︎These tiny tykes are starting to have more fun playing outside, mud pies and playing in the sprinkler are a must outside in the summertime and snowmen and Snowball fights will be tons of fun in the winter
☠︎︎Babies this age are starting to enjoy puzzles, playing puzzle games and putting together puzzles can be great fun for tots in their threes
The Foooddsss
These lil ones enjoy simpler tasting food, not many threes enjoy elaborate meals, a turkey sandwich with apple slices will do just fine. These babies are starting to figure out what they like and don't like, they've been eating solid foods for a bit now and they're trying new foods everyday. It's also important to note that these teenies are at a snacking age, they're rarely interested in sitting down to have a big meal three times a day, it's better to offer a bunch of small snacks throughout the day.
Shows And Movies
Similar to the ones and twos, these tiniest enjoy animated shows, maybe shows with shorter episodes since now these babies are up and running around. Movies may be a little too long for these tiny tykes but short shows are great, turning on shows like bluey, Daniel tiger or doc mcstuffins are great shows for these babies.
Boundaries And Safeties!
I think the most important note I could give everyone cg reading this post is just to get to know your tot, it can be awkward to bring up their tiny space especially if your baby is shy but the awkward conversations are important! Ask your baby what shows they like, what makes them feel safe, whether they like pull ups or they're potty trained, what foods they like, if they like to sleep with cg or they like to sleep in a crib, important questions

I think its time some of the creeps got some fluff :D
Puppeteer, Hobo, and Kate experiencing some wholesomeness with their S/Os? Mayhaps? Snuggles and cuddles oh my!
I tried to make it winter themed because it's that time of year :)
Puppeteer:
Listen, he's already pretty clingy over you, but once winter hits you basically never get rid of him. He always gets worried that you're gonna get too cold out there and get sick, and so he tends to hover over you, making sure you're dressing well and that you're staying warm enough in all of this winter weather. Winter is also the time of year when he starts (insisting) suggesting that you wear his clothes because they'll keep you warmer. He'll bundle you up in his sweaters, or a scarf of his, or a nice thick jacket, claiming it's totally necessary when really half of it is just that he thinks you look incredibly adorable when you're wearing his clothes, and so he gets super excited whenever you do so during the colder months. If you ever tease him and say that if you wear all his clothes he won't have any left for himself he will go out and buy doubles of his outfits so that you can't use that excuse anymore. Also, Pup never wants to let you out of bed in the mornings. He just wants to stay curled up beside you, cuddling with you, and spending the day resting with you because he feels much weaker and more tired because of the cold, so his solution to that problem is to get a good grip on you and just cuddle you until you can somehow manage to escape him about an hour later than normal.
Hobo:
Hobo is probably one of the cuddliest creeps, and you'll find that could pretty early on in your relationship with him. Nothing makes this poor touch starved bird boy happier than being able to get some love and affection from you, and luckily you're always happy to provide it. Nothing beats lazy mornings with you both sprawled out in bed, your body wrapped up in his arms and wings, the two of you content to lay there for as long as you'd like, in no rush to do anything else. Although, with it being winter, sometimes Hobo likes to get outside with you and spend some time exploring in the cold. He's never gotten to have fun with people out there before, and you're always excited to give him a chance to experience that. He's often entranced by the falling snow, spending hours just watching it fall. He'll sit out there with you, a wing protectively draped over you so you don't have to worry about it soaking into and chilling you. After you've spent some time outside, head in and make the two of you some hot chocolate, curl up in front of the fire or on the couch, put something on the TV, and just relax together underneath a blanket, and you'll have Hobo thinking he must be in heaven with how relaxed and content he feels beside you. He's a simple guy, and it doesn't take much for him to feel fully cheery and at ease beside you.
Kate:
Kate absolutely loves wintertime, and she loves it even more when she gets to spend it with you, her favorite person in the entire world. I'm talking about building snowmen together, having snowball fights, making snow angels, fuck it, she might even ask if you want to put in the time and energy to build an igloo together. Kate just absolutely loves being outside and fucking around and exploring, and all of that is even more fun when you're out there with her. If you get too cold she's more than happy to go in with you, but she loves spending as much time as possible with you running around in the snow. When you finally go back in, she'll make the two of you some of her famous homemade hot chocolate, complete with marshmallows and whipped cream if you'd like it, and she'll sit by the mansion fireplace with you, laughing and telling jokes and stories with you to pass the time while you warm up together. After that is a nice warm shower, and then throwing on your pajamas and jumping into bed to snuggle up together. She'll make a blanket fort or just drown the two of you in a big pile of blankets, snuggle up to you, and just lay there and relax with you in utter bliss until both of you are too sleepy to stay awake any longer. Kate never thought she'd be lucky enough to have someone to do things like this with, so it makes her so incredibly happy to be able to have you by her side.

21 days til' Christmas
building a snowman with singleparent!miguel o'hara and gabriela⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
--------------------------------------------------------
Gabriela was on winter vacation but Miguel still worked eight hours a day. He may have been his own boss but he still held himself accountable and worked just as much as his own employees. It was only fair.
You had been babysitting Gabi for ages. It had been almost two years since you started babysitting her. She had grown up so much in these past couple of years. Miguel also grew a lot as a parent and as a person.
You and Miguel only became official about six months ago despite Gabi's effort to get the two of you together from the get-go.
You were helping Gabrelia get the last of her snow protection on when you heard the door swing open, You heard fast and heavy footsteps running up the stairs at an alarmingly fast speed. Miguel made his way to the doorframe with his coat still on and his glasses on the top of his head. "Papa's on vacation!" Miguel exclaimed as he held his arms out for Gabriela.
She bolted towards him and jumped into his arms. He lifted her up and peppered her face with kisses until she made disgusted noises.
"Papa! That tickles!" she squealed giggling like crazy.
Miguel gave you a look before giving you a quick kiss.
"We were just about to go play in the snow, wanna join us Miguel?" you asked.
"Of course, I love spending time with my girls," he answered as the three of you stepped outside and began a crazy snowball fight.
Gabriella made a 'snowball' that was almost as tall as she was and tried her hardest to pick it up to throw at her dad.
"I don't think you can throw something this big mama, but we can make a snowman," Miguel suggested.
"Yay! Snowman!" Gabi cheered as she jumped up and down beginning to make the second layer. She was surprisingly good at making snowmen for a six-year-old.
You and Miguel made the head together and all three layers were formed perfectly.
"Gabi, let's go inside and get some clothes and such for the snowman so we can bring him alive," you said, taking her hand.
Miguel watched the two of you giggle and run around the house lovingly. He finally felt complete. He felt like it was his fault that Gabirelia's mother had died that day, he felt like he was the reason his daughter had no mother figure to look up to, and he felt like it was his fault that his beautiful Gabi grew up in an incomplete family for all those years.
That was until you came around and taught him how to forgive himself. How to stop blaming himself for inevitable things. You taught him that he is just a mere human, that every bad thing that happens in his life can't be his fault because he's not the one making them happen.
The two of you came back out with a carrot, scarf, sticks, pebbles, and a hat.
You both sang Frosty the Snowman obnoxiously until Miguel joined in while you gave your snowman buttons, a mouth, eyes a nose, a scarf, and finally its hat, which brought it to life.
"What should we name them?" Miguel asked Gabi.
"Jaxx!" she exclaimed.
Who's that? Miguel asked with his eyes
Kid she likes at school. You answered almost telepathically.
You didn't know how the two of you communicated with just your eyes but it came in handy at times.
Miguel laughed to himself, happy to see Gabriela having crushes and talking to you about them.
"Alright both of you let's get inside and have some hot baths and soup," Miguel said, ushering the two of you back into the house. The two of you groaned not wanting to leave.
"Come on, you ladies are going to catch a cold if you don't," he warned.
To that, Gabi responded by running into the house and going to her bathroom.
"Thanks for looking after her Cariño[honey], I can't express enough how thankful I am to you," Miguel said.
"I love Gabi, and I love you just as much, it's always a pleasure Miguel," you reassured as you draped your arms over his shoulder causing him to pull you in by the waist.
"You wanna know what else is always a pleasure?" Miguel asked.
You looked at him with a puzzled look.
"This," he said as he started tickling you, causing you to erupt into violent laughter.
"Stop- Bahahaha, Miguel please," you barely chuckled out.
He laughed at your reaction before ushering you up the stairs for a bath.

Hi, buggy! Can we get a fic about Eddie and his partner making gingerbread houses 💋💋
Y/N wouldn't have guessed it from seeing Eddie, but he was a massive Christmas fan. He sang along to Christmas songs, which he played on full blast. He wore ugly Christmas sweaters, Santa hats, and enjoyed hanging up lights.
He was even more excited to be in a relationship during the holidays. They've already gone to see the Christmas lights, build snowmen, and had a massive snowball fight. Y/N loved to see how excited Eddie got when it came to all their dates so they did everything he asked.
Next on the agenda was gingerbread houses. Y/N was slowly learning their boyfriend didn't have patience for just people.
"Dammit!" Eddie groaned, the roof of his house sliding down. His sticky fingers snatched the icing. Back for his third round of adding icing to the sides. His tongue out as he focused on pushing the pieces together.
"I saw this hack to use a glue gun." Y/N said, nonchalantly as they also tried to push the pieces together.
"You can't eat glue." Eddie said in a bored tone. His eyes still glued on the roof as he held it together for another minute.
"I know, but who really eats these?" Y/N questioned.
"Easy way out! I got this." Eddie said, a challenge to himself that Y/N knew would end in a meltdown.
Christmas music played through the small speaker Eddie had in the kitchen. Y/N's house slowly came together. Their roof stayed on and the sides stayed upright. They didn't want to go over beyond with decorations, and have it weigh down the house.
"Damnit, baby. Why does yours look like a baking competition." Eddie whined, his brown eyes in awe of the perfect gingerbread house.
"Eddie, it's just standing." Y/N laughed. They got up to make hot chocolate as Eddie continued to work on his house. They watched from the sidelines. He looked adorable. His hair was tied back, he wore a band T-shirt and loose plaid pajama pants.
His fingers bare with no rings, instead covered in icing and blotches of colors from the cheap candies.
Time clicked and Eddie finally finished. Y/N on the couch as they watched Christmas films.
"I DID IT!" Eddie cheered. He stood up proudly with a big smile.
Y/N got off the couch, walked over to see his masterpiece.
A masterpiece it was. It was standing. He had candies around the door frame and windows. Rolos on the roof. Candy canes broken apart and sprinkled along the white roof.
"You iced the whole thing?" Y/N asked, panic in their chest. They could already picture the house giving in with the amount of heavy icing. But he looked so happy they didn't say a thing.
"yeah! I wanted it to be snowy." Eddie said as he walked towards his bedroom to grab his camera.
"Pose with yours!" He said, Y/N carefully picked up their gingerbread house and smiled for the camera. The flash blinded their eyes as they softly placed down the house.
Y/N grabbed the camera and helped Eddie pick up his house. They could feel the heaviness and prayed it would stand for the picture.
"1..2...3!" Y/N counted. Their eyes looked through the camera, watching the exact moment the house began to slide.
"EDDIE!" they panicked but he saved it in time. He placed it on the table in a rush, a relief breath from his lips as he saved it from smacking the floor.
"Close one!" He joked.
But as luck would have it, the roof began to slide.
"Son of a bitch!" He groaned, pressing the roof together again. But the heaviness of the icing and his pushing made the sides crack. Within seconds the house crumpled down and broken pieces flew everywhere. The icing shot in the air, landing on his face and specks in his hair.
Pieces of the house by his feet and the rest scattered on the table.
"SMILE!" Y/N shouted, immediately taking the picture as Eddie growled.
"You're dead." Eddie threatened, but Y/N was faster. They took off and ran to the bedroom, Eddie hot on their heels as he raced after them.
"NO! SHOWER FIRST!" Y/N begged, but Eddie already tackled them onto the bed. He wiped his sticky fingers against their face and shirt. He dug his hair into their neck, the icing smearing on their skin.
"Munson!" They groaned, easily feeling all the sticky icing on their skin.
"Welp, looks like you have to shower too." Eddie winked, he grabbed their hand and easily yanked them off the bed.
"Oh look how that worked out!" Y/N mocked, they rolled their eyes as they followed Eddie into the bathroom. But couldn't help but smile at his child like actions.
"Soap me up, baby!"

Could you write something based on ambers intial reaction to see roy being flustered for the first time? or hcs on it
Imagine she doesnt expect it because roy usually puts on this cool and brave face :)
Of course! ^_^
(sorry if it's so late I was pretty busy with school)
(also it's Christmas based because I just miss Christmas and because I found such a cute Royber picture on Pinterest it's a shame not to use it)
"ARE YOU BLUSHING?"
Tumblr media
It was just a regular Christmas Eve at Broomstown.
A holiday awaited all year by many.
How could anyone not love Christmas?
I mean, you don't have to go to work or go to school, you can drink hot chocolate, wear cute hats and gloves, build snowmen, have snowball fights, and, most importantly,
You would get lots of presents from Santa! (Or from your closest friends, if you're not a child anymore.)
And yet, even on this day, the newly funded "rescue team" of the town couldn't relax.
"You guys, we really need your help. The current vehicle that was in charge of setting up the Christmas tree is sick! And guess what that means..."
"Let me guess: it means that we gotta do it ourselves... Yeah, can't wait."
"Well, it is our job after all. We can't be mad..."
"Our job? You mean setting up Christmas trees?" Helly asked, sarcastically.
"I mean making sure we help the town in any way that we can, including setting up Christmas trees if needed, Helly."
"We better get to work fast, then! The tree is huge, and Christmas is already tomorrow!"
"Right! Instead of complaining, we should focus all our strength on working!
"You're both so motivated it makes me feel even more unsure about this..."
"Well, it wouldn't hurt you to learn a thing or two from them, don't you think?" Poli teased with a small chuckle.
"Hey! Stop teasing me! I said I was unsure, not that I wasn't going to do it at all!"
"Quiet, you two!" Jin exclaimed, interrupting their little banter.
Then, with an annoyed sigh, she turned her attention to Roy and Amber, and said:
"I do appreciate the enthusiasm, you guys, but setting up the tree isn't all! We also need help placing all the gifts of EVERY citizen down there, and so we really need a Santa Claus that would kindly do that. Well, Two Santas, given how many gifts there actually are..."
"Oh! Well, that's not really a problem is it? We'll just divide in two groups! Two of us set up the tree, and the other two go pick up all the presents!"
"Seems like a plan."
"Ahem, two groups of two? What about me?"
"Right, well, what we meant to say was one group of two and one of three, of course, hahaha...!" Roy awkwardly laughed, trying to keep Jin from getting angry exploding like always.
Jin crossed her arms, but felt satisfied after she was included in the activity.
Without pressing on the issue even further, she said:
"Anyways, let's just make these groups and get straight to work. Me, Poli and Helly will be in charge of the Christmas tree, since Helly can fly, Poli's the strongest one in our team and I'll watch over them to make sure they're doing everything right. Amber and Roy will go pick up the gifts from the Post Office and bring them to us. Is that okay?"
Everyone agreed,
"it's settled then. Oh, and, Roy, Amber, grab these hats!" Jin said, as she grabbed two Christmas hats from her bag and threw them at the two.
"Are you sure we need to wear these? How is this necessary?"
"It's the rules, you're Santa, you gotta wear the hat! Or do you want me to get the white beard for you as well?" Jin teased with a smirk, getting a giggle from Amber.
"Haha, no, no... I was just asking. The hats are pretty cute, anyways. Right, Roy?"
Roy looked at Amber and smiled warmly at her, nodding his head
"Yes, they're pretty warm and comfortable."
"Glad to hear that, you two. Now, off you go!"
Roy and Amber quickly drove away, leaving the headquarters and heading together towards the Post Office to retrieve all of the presents.
"Jin, you know I'm not the strongest of the group, it's definitely Roy... So why did you-"
"So Roy could go alone with Amber, duh!"
"Wait, so that's... That's like... Oh... Oh! You mean it's like a secret Christmas date?!"
"Took you long enough!"
"Wait... So are the hats also-"
"Yeah, I lied. They aren't necessary, I just wanted to see them with cute matching hats."
"But when I lie then suddenly it's not okay, huh..."
"Hey! In my defense they're so cute together yet SO oblivious it makes me mad! I just want them to realize their feelings and kiss already!"
"yeah, they should really confess to each other, but it also isn't good to rush them. It needs to happen naturally, we just gotta give those lovebirds some time."
"Let's see how this date goes then! Hopefully they won't just stutter and awkwardly talk over each other like last time!"
___________________________
"Oh dear..."
"I didn't expect there to be so many!" Roy exclaimed, as he and Amber looked at all the piles of presents scattered across the office.
"Well, let's start. The sooner we begin the sooner we finish."
Roy nodded, and together the started to grab the presents 5 at a time and putting them on a cart that they would have to bring to the others.
"Amber, how are you going to spend the Christmas holidays?"
The ambulance smiled slightly, without taking her eyes off her work.
"Well, I don't really know... I was thinking of just spending it quietly at home, with some friends and family. You know, the usual." She answered.
"Oh, I see. Well, my family couldn't make it to Broomstown this year, so I guess I'll have plenty of free time on my tyres..."
"oh, I'm sorry to hear that... Why couldn't they come?"
"Well, they were just too busy. I mean, both of my parents work, and they have my little brother to take care of, so they just couldn't make it here for Christmas."
Amber stayed silent for a bit.
"it must be tough being so far away from your family, I couldn't imagine that."
Roy laughed.
"Well, it isn't as awful as you may think. Yes, I miss them sometimes, but I'm doing just fine here! Haha..."
Amber frowned, but didn't say anything as she placed some more presents on the cart.
She could see right through him.
"You know, you don't have to pretend like you're always okay. At least, you don't have to do that around me, Roy."
Roy stopped in his tracks, caught completely red-handed.
"W-what? I'm not pretending, I really am just fine! Look-"
"Roy."
Her voice turned stern for a moment, but with a soft undertone. She wasn't having any of that, and Roy could tell. He knew her well, and as it turned out, she knew him as well, perhaps even more than he knew her.
"I-I..."
"It's okay if you don't want to talk right now, but I just..."
She stopped, as she turned her gaze from the work to her best friend, now facing him directly.
"I just worry about you, okay?"
As she said that, Amber approached Roy and gently held both of his hands, that were already cold from the chilly winter weather.
As he felt her fingers brush against his palm, he felt a shiver run down his spine, and he felt his cheeks turning a warm, flushed red color.
He blushed.
"Amber, you... you really do..?"
"Of course I do! Does it look like I don't? You're my best friend, I care about you a lot, you know?"
Roy stayed silent for a few minutes, still processing what he just heard.
She cares about him. She knows he isn't fine,
Because she cares.
She was so close to him he felt like he was about to explode.
"I-I'm... Y-you, I mean, thank you... You're the best girlfr-... Er.. I mean friend I ever had Haha.. ha... ha."
Amber looked at him with warmth, until her gentle expression turned into a smug smirk.
"Aww, are you flustered?"
Roy almost jumped, letting go of Amber and slapping them immediately on his cheeks to try and cover it up.
He really was loosing his cool, something that rarely ever happened to him before.
"I..."
Roy sighed, knowing that he couldn't change the subject Anyways.
"How could you tell right away? Am I really such an awful liar...?"
"Not at all, you are a pretty good liar, I must admit." Amber praised him and patted his shoulder, as she spoke "But so am I. Liars know liars, you could say."
Roy blinked twice in surprise.
Amber, the nicest, most kindest most beautiful soul in the whole world, was a good liar?
"You? A... liar?"
"Yeah, I knew you'd be surprised. I don't like lying, that's why I rarely do it, but that doesn't mean that I don't know how to, once in a while."
"Wow, I... I never knew that about you."
"Well, now you do! You're the first person I told this to, actually."
"really?"
"mhm, really."
Silence. Roy was still shaken up from earlier. He felt ashamed of being so vulnerable in front of amber, he felt weak and useless.
"I'm... I'm really sorry that you had to see me like... this." Roy shyly said, in embarrassment.
"But Isn't that a good thing?"
"Huh...?"
"You showed me the real you. Not some fearless and heroic firefighter, but the real you, so I did it in return. Now we're even. That makes us even closer than before, isn't that amazing?"
"I... I guess It is..." Roy's answers were short, and a bit repetitive, because he was so nervous he couldn't even come up with a proper answer.
Amber smiled warmly, and then she looked at Roy's head.
Without saying anything, she came closer, and without asking she adjusted the Christmas hat that was about to fall.
"And besides, I like this side of you. It's genuine, and cute." She whispered softly, as she looked directly into Roy's eyes.
Roy blushed even harder now, and Amber obviously noticed, since she let out another soft giggle.
But this time, Roy didn't cover it up.
He was flustered, but not embarrassed.
Because he could trust Amber just as much as he could trust his family, or Poli.
She was his best friend, or, maybe even something more...
Amber was so beautiful, he couldn't even think straight.
After adjusting the hat, she stepped away from Roy to give him some space, as she went back to work.
"...Oh, Amber! About my family..."
"hmm?"
"Could I... maybe, tell you about them another time?"
"Of course, whenever you want to. I'm always willing to listen."
She smiled again, and this time, the first thing Roy thought was that she was more beautiful than all of the stars behind her.
"Now let's finish with this tiresome job, Santa! The others must be freezing while they're waiting for us!"
"Haha, I'm coming, I'm coming!"

Secret Times: Starry Witness

𝑯𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒑 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓.
Tumblr media
What’s wrong?
It’s fine. The snow won't melt that quickly.
There's no rush. Take your time.
Are you curious about what’s going on outside?
People are making snowmen.
Looks like there’s going to make a snowman as big as that statue in front of the neighborhood.
Are you also interested?
Don’t worry. With my strength, it won't be hard to make a snowman bigger than theirs.
Mmm… There are also kids having a snowball fight under the pine trees. They’re already covered in snow.
… you sound eager to try.
What do you want to bet on?
The loser buys the winner milk tea for a week?
All right. But.. can I phone a friend?
Okay, I guess I can’t bring along my Snow Helper robot.
When you started wishing it would snow more often, I bought one.
Sure, I’ll bring it along.
Huh?
It’s nothing. I saw the kids outside stopping to get something.
They’re now… each holding a baguette.
I don’t get kids these days.
Do you also want to eat baguettes?
Then we can go the bakery nearby after we finishing building the snowman
Ready?
Oh? Are we missing something?
Hand lotion?
That’s a bit too much.
I don’t need any.
All right… Ugh, it’s so sticky and oily.
It smells different from the ones you used yesterday.
So you use freesia-scented lotions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and the chamomile one on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. What about Sunday?
You give your skin a break on that day…
Sundays are for resting anyway. It’s okay to relax.
Is this how you apply it?
Like this? On the back of my hand, my palm…
Did I miss a spot?
When you rub my hands like this… It tickles.
Okay, I won't move. Keep going.
Your hands are small.. But they’re very warm.
Do people with big hands waste a lot of hand lotion?
Doesn’t that depend on how hard you squeeze the bottle?
…you want to compare our hands?
Or do you want to see who uses more hand lotion?
The person who uses less wins?
Is there any point in winning or losing…
All right.
What happens if I win?
I get your favorite hand lotion?
I don't need that…
But since you want to do it, let’s do it.
You squeezed a lot for yourself and not a lot for me. You’re cheating, aren’t you…
So you just wanted to give me hand lotion?
All right… then I lost.
You’re giving me your favorite hand lotion just like that. Won't you miss it?
You won't as long as I use it “well”?
Hmm… how do I use it “well”?
Mmm, you squeezed this much onto the back of your hand.
Apply it evenly.
Massage in a circular motion…
Then rub your hands together.
I get it now.
But.. what’s this scent? It smells like snowy pines.
What a wonderful fragrance.
I understand why this is your favorite now.
Don’t you want to test me to see how well I do?
Keep your hands there.
It tickles?
I told you it tickled. Now do you believe me?
Don’t move.. You’ll get used to it soon enough.
Mmm… apply it evenly, make circles, rub your hands…
See, didn't I do a good job?
Are you satisfied with the results?
All right… I’ll make sure to follow your instructions and use it well.
Thank you for the hand lotion.
All right, let’s go.
Wait…
Don’t forget your scarf.
Does the scarf smell like hand lotion?
You’re right.
Ah, I got some lotion on it?
But your hands smell the same as mine.
You used less lotion than me, so the scent is stronger on my hands, huh?
Let me take your hand. There. Your hands should smell the same now.
Let’s go.

spending time with the counselors while it's snowing
ryan erzahler
ryan's favorite season is winter in my mind. he loves being indoors and drinking warm beverages and enjoying the weather. usually from inside
if you really want to go outside and play in the snow— even as fully grown adults— he will. he'll give in if you beg and look at him with puppy eyes. it's a major weakness of his
he's freezing cold, but he's throwing snowballs at you and making snow angels. he's making snowmen with you and gathering sticks to use as arms. anything to make you smile, he'll do
by the time the two of you come back inside, your jackets are soaked with melted snow and your fingertips are freezing even through the gloves you're wearing. he wouldn't change that, though
he'll make you some hot chocolate, cover the both of you up in a warm blanket and you'll sit on the couch watching the snow fall together for awhile
ryan is really big on quality time, so he really enjoys lounging around with you on snowy days <3
dylan lenivy
dylan is up and at em! he's practically running outside into the snow with no warm clothes on at all as soon as he sees the weather
you'll have to remind him to put on a winter coat, gloves, a hat, everything. he's so eager to go outside and play and let out his inner child for a little while
he'll throw a snowball at you and it quickly becomes a huge fight between the two of you in your front lawn. neither of you care if you look weird, though
he wants to stay outside for as long as possible. he comes up with a ton of things to do in the snow with you so he doesn't have to go inside
he'll want to make snowmen and he falls over multiple times rolling the snow into perfect balls to use for the body
kaitlyn ka
i don't see kaitlyn as a person who really cares about what it's like outside. she'll see that it's snowing and shrug. it's not her first priority
if you want to go outside, she will. she thinks it's hilarious that you're wanting to play in the snow and she'll end up joining you after awhile
but for the most part, she'd prefer to stay inside. she'll make you a warm drink and put on your favorite movie or show to watch while snuggled up with her on the couch
she'll get the warmest and biggest blanket she could find and cover the two of you up in it, and she loves the time that she gets to spend with you
the cold weather is an excuse to cuddle with you. she's not the best at asking for it, but she's happy it's freezing outside so you're wanting extra warmth
nick furcillo
as an australian, nick is absolutely fascinated with snow. he never saw it growing up so in america he loves going outside and just staring at it for awhile
you'll come up with a few things to do with him while it's snowing, like snowball fights and making snow angels. he's got a smile on his face the entire time
he has the time of his life!! it's such a new experience for him and he has so much fun with you. he never wants to go back inside
after the snow calms down a little, the two of you head inside and curl up to watch some of your favorite christmas/holiday movies to celebrate the winter weather
nick hasn't had many cold winters, and he's glad he gets to spend this one with you
abi blyg
i feel like abi is definitely an outdoorsy person in general. winter probably isn't her favorite of the seasons, but the weather and atmosphere give her something new to draw
she'll sit next to you on a bench in the wintertime, drawing on her notepad. she loves having you around even if your presence makes her heart race
when she isn't drawing, she's happy to go outside and mess around with you in the snow. she's making snowmen and snow angels so quickly
she'll start a snowball fight and spend the entire duration of it not really paying attention to the snow flying at her face. her eyes are just on you
she also enjoys being inside with you after a long day playing in the snow like children. she'll make sure you're all warmed up, and play her favorite holiday movie for you
emma mountebank
as soon as emma sees that it's snowing, she's grabbing onto your hand and pulling you outside even if you're half asleep
i can just imagine her urging you to get up and get dressed. she's just so excited for the snow, even though she's seen it plenty
she loves spending the day with you, too. she loves the weather but she loves your company even more. she comes up with a TON of ideas to do on a snowy day
skiing, snowboarding, sledding. the whole nine years. she calls beforehand and makes sure everything is in place. she takes winter and her activities very seriously
she has such a great time with you, and her cheeks hurt from smiling so much by the end of the day. she loves you, and she's glad she got to share all of those experiences with you
jacob custos
jacob is also really into wintertime. he's 100% going to run outside and just jump into the snow. he'll be freezing cold and instantly regret it afterwards, but he sees you laughing and he suddenly doesn't care
he'll build a snow fort. he doesn't know what he's doing, but he's preparing for a snowball fight. he can just sense it coming
he makes a really awful snowman, but he's super proud of it. he found sticks for arms and ran inside for a carrot. he loves it
he has so much fun with the snow, he doesn't ever want to come inside. he does, eventually. he just hopes for more of the same weather so he could have fun with you again
he tries to warm you up, but he's just as cold— if not colder— than you are, so it fails miserably. it's the thought that counts, though
laura kearney
i feel like laura will spend a few hours outside playing in the snow with you if that's something you want to do. she'll build snowmen with you, make snow angels, whatever you want
she loves seeing you smile so it doesn't really matter what you're doing as long as you're enjoying it, honestly
she does enjoy being inside when it's cold, though. she's great at making hot chocolate and other various foods to eat for the weather
she picks the best movies to watch and she's gonna cuddle you the entire time. she kisses your forehead and holds you close
you'll watch the snow fall from the warmth of your house, and she feels grateful that she has you in her life at all
max brinly
he's outside super quickly. he loves the snow and he loves coming up with things to do during it. he has a lot of fun just thinking about it
max loves sledding. he's got a ton of boards and he knows exactly where to go to have the most fun with it, too
he'll definitely ride down the hill with you, his arms wrapped around your waist. he's laughing the entire time, his stomach filled with butterflies
he's super down to do anything you'd want to do, too. he probably isn't the best at snowball fights, but he does his best. he'll feel a little bad if he hits you, but it goes away as you're laughing about it
after a long day, he's ready to curl up on the couch with you under a ton of blankets and just enjoy your company away from the cold. he wouldn't have it any other way <3

It's time for the winter sekai gift exchange!! My gift is for @mccnstruck and it's a polyneed fic :D
They're building snowmen (Snow Mikus specifically). I hope you enjoy it!! (And also tagging @winter-sekai-gift-exchange so they can put all of the gifts in one place) (the fic is also under the cut)
"Ichi! Did you get the scarf?"
"Yes Saki! Hold on a second."
Stubby legs carried her up the hill to her three friends, a blue scarf bundled into her arms while she tried to not trip into the snow. Shiho had already laughed at her once for it. Plus, it would get Snow Miku's scarf damp, she doesn't deserve a cold, wet scarf! She would have offered her own but Honami insisted she kept it on.
Ichika had just about reached the top when her friends' work came into view. A snowman, about the same height as Shiho, stood at the centre of the hilltop. Two sticks where stuck into either side of the head, stones for eyes and the mouth, Honami's apple sliced up to make the hair bands and nose, a tie made from the last few leaves off the tree. She thought it was amazing.
"There you are!" Saki greeted her at the top, a giant grin on her face. She grabbed onto Ichika's arm to drag her over to Honami and Shiho, who were adding the final touches to their joint effort. "C'mon! You can put the scarf on!"
Honami giggled at their friend's enthusiasm and Shiho just grinned at them all. Ichika nodded and went to wrap the scarf around the snowman's neck. She stepped back to see their finished Snow Miku, a smile creeping onto her face.
"Ah! She looks perfect!" Honami cheered to her left, Saki nodding in agreement.
"Great choice, Ichika." Shiho commented on her right, she turned to smile back at her.
"Thanks Shiho! Although..." Ichika turned back to Snow Miku and finally realised what was missing. She ran back up to her and took off her blue mittens, putting the sticks used for her hair into each one. When she knew they wouldn't fall off, Ichika walked back to her friends.
Saki gasped happily to Ichika's last minute addition, Shiho chuckled along. Honami, however, started off worried.
"Ichika-chan, won't your hands get cold now?"
"Don't worry, Honami, I have my coat pockets!" Ichika shoved her hands into said pockets to prove her point. It convinced Honami, at least, because she relaxed and looked back to their creation.
"It is a lovely finish, good idea Ichika-chan."
Ichika giggled at her compliment. By then Saki and Shiho had gotten themselves into a snowball fight, which ended with them both tumbling down the hill. Honami ran after them with concern. Ichika stood at the top for a minute to watch the three of them.
She loves her friends.
~~~~
Ichika found the scarf at the bottom of her closet.
It was in a box full of things she couldn't bear to look at anymore, but could never bring herself to throw away. Photos, piles of sheet music, friendship bracelets (one of which was actually Shiho's, she must have left it here on accident) and the scarf. Miku's scarf.
There wasn't a need for it to be in the closet anymore, she was friends with Honami and Shiho again, Saki was out of the hospital and they had a band now. Leo/Need. Representing the Leonid meteor shower and how they need each other. Ichika thinks it's perfect for them. Plus, the four of them share a Sekai together! With a version of Miku in it! It's everything she could ever hope for!
She looks down to the scarf in her hands. Saki wanted to start doing more outside of just the band, right? Things friends would do, like shopping or visiting places together. Or maybe a walk in the park. The weather forecast said it would be snowing over the weekend...
Ichika sends a text to their group chat. Three replies come in fairly quickly. Everyone is free for Sunday.
She smiles and hopes they enjoy the surprise.
~~~~
"Ichi!!!"
Ichika only sees a blur of yellow latch onto her before she's trying to keep Saki and herself from collapsing into the snow. She succeeds, however now Shiho is laughing a them, so did she really? Honami is chuckling as well now that she looks at them both. Seriously...
Shiho moves to drag Saki off of her. The latter pretends to resist but turns to hug Shiho instead. She let's her.
"So what did you want to do today?"
Oh right, she did bring them outside for a reason. The scarf is wrapped around her neck, she clutches it and blushes slightly. A gasp is heard to her right, and she turns to see Honami staring at the scarf.
"Isn't that..."
She remembers? Saki clearly doesn't, at least not a first, turning her head like a confused cat. Or maybe a dog would be more appropriate with her. Shiho also looks confused. She may as well get on with it.
"I was looking through some of my older things the other day, and I found this scarf. Remember that night it snowed really hard and we all went to the park and built a Snow Miku?"
Saki gasps as if she was just told the truth behind Rin's disappearing cookies (Kaito ate them not knowing they were her's and now feels really bad and has been trying to make some as an apology) (he confessed to Ichika and Honami last week). Shiho's eyes widen.
"You kept that scarf this whole time?"
"I couldn't bring myself to throw it away... After everything I wanted to keep as much as I could about our time together. Even if I never actually used them since."
"Awwwww, Ichi!!!" Saki returns to bear hugging her. She flushes.
"So I'm guessing you wanted to build another snowman?" Honami asks, possibly out of mercy. Saki stops crushing her to instead gasp and jump about in excitement.
"Ooooh! Yes! Is that what you wanted to do, Ichi? Yes I want to build another snowman!"
Shiho laughs, Ichika somehow feels herself becoming even more flushed. She doesn't take notice of it, instead allowing Saki to drag her through the park. Up a certain hill.
"Huh. This is where we built the last one." Shiho pipes up before Ichika could say it. She just nods in agreement instead.
"Oooooh. Wait, we have the scarf, but a snowman needs more than one scarf. Hona, come with me!" Saki talks so quickly Ichika struggled to keep up, but then Saki was leading Honami away by the arm. Despite the initial shock, Honami went along with her to the closest tree. Saki said something to her before kneeling down onto the ground. Honami began looking at the tree branches that had broken off.
Shiho nudges Ichika, she looks away from the other two.
"We may as well get started." Shiho said, already moving to build the snowman's body. Ichika nods despite the fact Shiho can't see her and moves to roll up a head. She was halfway there when Saki and Honami returned. The latter handed her sticks over to Saki before assisting Shiho in forming the body. Saki starts jumping on the spot in excitement, one hand full of sticks and the other full of rocks.
Before long, Ichika had built up the head and moved it towards the body, waiting to put it on top. Shiho had paused, pondered for a second, before nodding and stepping back to let Honami and Ichika move the head on. Once that was done, Saki walked up to the snowman to put the rocks into the head for eyes and the mouth. She also stook the two sticks into the side.
"Hmmmm. Can I have the scarf Ichi?"
Ichika nodded and handed over the blue scarf to Saki, who proceeded to wrap it around the snowman's neck and tied it up at the front.
"There! We have no leaves this time, but Snow Miku has her tie!" Saki presents her work to the other three with jazz hands, Honami clapping along and Shiho trying to hide a chuckle. Ichika smiles, but ponders the Snow Miku for a second. They were hit with a cold breeze and she put her hands into her coat pockets to keep them warm. As she did so she felt something in her right one. Her old mittens. That's what was missing.
Ichika walked up to the snowman and, once again, put the mittens onto the sticks used for Miku's hair. Then, she stepped away again and smiled.
"You kept the mittens as well?" Shiho asks teasingly.
"I suppose I did. I hadn't realised they were in that pocket." Ichika blushed again. She was doing that a lot today.
An "awww" could be heard from Saki and Honami smiled warmly. The four looked at their second Snow Miku together.
"Thank you, Ichika-chan."
"Hmm?"
"Thank you for inviting us to build another Snow Miku." Honami explained. Saki and Shiho are quick to agree with her. Ichika feels warm watching the three of them.
"Your welcome."
She would build a million Snow Mikus if it would make them happy.

Aurea Mediocritas - Chapter 2
Summary: Aurea mediocritas: one of the five latin mottos of the arcadist, or neoclassical movement. Literally translates to “golden mediocrity”
A series of glimpses into what life was after the events of Carpe Diem. Not all is resolved, but they’re getting there. On their own time, at least.
Notes: YEY Edmund chapter at last!!! Fascinating that this fic was what kicked off my love of this character and now he’s in Victoria and Johanna’s level in my heart (alas, no one has dethroned Kaisa yet). Hope you enjoy!
Content warning for transphobia, friends. Nothing violent, but it's still there. Take care
[Read it on ao3] [Read this verse's previous instalments]
Winters in the city were boring.
When she’d been living in the woods, it was one of the most fun times of the year. Johanna had all the snow she could want (and even more) all around her, ready to be turned into snowmen or squished into snow angels or used with snowball fights. The cold was an excuse to light up the fireplace more often, since their solar power boards didn’t make enough energy to get the house as warm as they wanted it. She got to climb the leafless trees and get a better view of her surroundings when she was at the top than when they had all of their greenery.
Now, it was Johanna’s first winter living in the city and she was having to come to terms with it having become just the time of the year at which most of nature was dead. She couldn’t even enjoy the snow that fell on the parks, since her parents didn’t allow her outside of the house alone yet, afraid that a little girl raised in the safety of the wilderness wouldn’t know how to navigate through Trolberg.
The keyword there was ‘alone’, though.
“Wait for me!” She shouted, and her older cousin grunted. It had been only a few weeks since they’d had their first real interactions. Trading five words at once-a-year family events didn’t count. Already, Johanna was feeling like she wasn’t exactly on her cousin’s list of top favourite people, but she was determined to get there. She supposed getting too close to pre-teenagehood would put a damper on anyone’s mood, anyway.
“Why don’t you stay here with the adults for once? I’m just going to go outside to get some air.”
“Because it’s boring and stuffy in here.” Johanna answered, struggling to put her coat and boots on at the same time as she approached the door that was being held open for her. “It’s a lot cooler out there.”
“‘Cooler.’” Her cousin repeated. “That’s an awful joke.”
In response, Johanna gasped and smiled brightly after half a second. “Oh gosh, I’ve made a joke!”
Her cousin gave her an eyeroll. She’d been getting many of those, truth be told. But it was beginning to look more fond than irritated, so she took her wins where she could.
“Let’s go, then. They’ll call us when dinner is ready.”
There was a park close by her aunt and uncle’s apartment, and when their families dined together, her cousin usually took her there.
Not by her own volition, of course. Lydia just always came to the conclusion that accepting that child as her shadow was less trouble than convincing her not to come.
As soon as they arrived, Johanna tried to invite her to a snowball fight, and gotten a very pointed “no” in response. The same happened with the offers to build anything out of snow, or to climb trees. Eventually, Johanna squinted at her.
“You always do this.” She said, sounding like she wanted to put Lydia under a magnifying glass. “Why come if you don’t want to play?”
Lydia had been pretending to pay more attention to the moss on the boulder she was sitting on then to Johanna.
“Because I agree with you. It’s stuffy.”
When her cousin didn’t say anything else, Johanna walked closer, the snow squeaking under her boots with each step.
“Tell me about it.” She said when she was close enough that Lydia could touch her with a slight extension of her leg. “You like the mould.”
“It’s moss.” Another eyeroll, but without as much energy.
“What’s the difference?”
That gave her pause. Lydia blinked, surprised to notice that she didn’t have a ready explanation to an answer she had found obvious.
“Well…” She said after some seconds of thinking, even though Johanna had already turned her gaze to a group of dark birds flying above them. “I think the thing is that mould is fungi, and moss is bryophytes.”
“Bryo what?”
“Bryophytes. It’s a type of plant. There are three other types like this.”
“You like plants too, then?” Johanna bounced on her heels, excited to know that there was someone around who shared her interest and who might talk about it to her and go out with her looking for different flowers when spring came. “I love them! Shame I can never keep mine alive.”
As if seeing Johanna in a new light for the first time, Lydia tilted her head. “Well, I do like nature, in general. I’m a big bug fan, but plants are pretty cool too. I could try to help you next time you want to keep any, if you’d like.”
“I would! What should I do if they start getting all brown and coily around the edges of the leaves?”
Once again having been caught unprepared, her cousin let out a pensive hum. As one usually does when they do not have a good answer for a question, she began going on about generalities of the topic, laying her knowledge out there and hoping it would satisfy the younger child. She’d just been talking about the importance of earthworms to the ecosystem when she realised Johanna was staring at her. Not like a kid looking at a teacher, but like a diviner looking into someone’s soul.
“What is it?” She asked, slightly creeped out.
“The adults make you uncomfortable.” She stated, and for some reason that made Lydia freeze more than the temperature. “You said it’s stuffy there, but you didn’t mean the heat, did you? I saw how you act around them and how you act when we’re alone. It’s different. You don’t feel well there, that’s why you come whenever you can.”
Feeling like her heart was very much going to beat out of her chest through her mouth, Lydia swallowed. She’d been in this position before, and it hadn’t been nice. But Johanna wasn’t looking at her like the bullies at school. Johanna was looking at her like a stranded person who found out there was someone else in their island to keep them company.
“I feel it too, sometimes.” Johanna continued, even though Lydia couldn’t tell if it was because she sensed her anxiety or because she was already going to, either way. “My parents get mad at me when I do badly at my tests, even when I study for it! And then dad keeps going into my room when I’m studying to check that I’m really concentrating, and it drives me crazy! Mum doesn’t like it when I bounce my leg, even though I do it without thinking sometimes, and holding it in almost hurts. And she puts me in so much itchy clothing, and gets angry when I don’t do a house chore. But it’s not because I don’t want it! I just… forget to, sometimes.”
Her cousin gaped at her in a way that made her afraid she’d messed something up, but Johanna didn’t give her time to let the shock wear off.
“And you feel like it too, don’t you?”
If Johanna had swung a bat to her cousin’s head, it probably would have left her less affected. The words “I-” and “Well-” tried to get past her throat, but seemed caught in an invisible spider web.
“Yeah.” She whined, promising herself that she would not cry, not in front of this little child who for some reason looked up to her. “Yeah, I do. I’m just not who my parents want me to be, and there’s nothing I can do about it.”
Taking another step forward and putting one tiny gloved hand to her tight, Johanna fixed her big brown eyes on her cousins. “For whatever is worth, you’re exactly who I want you to be. You’ve been the only good thing that happened to me since I moved here.”
It’s worth more than you can ever know, she thought, but didn’t say. Johanna continued.
“What can I do for you to not feel bad when we’re on our own?”
The feeling in her belly was what she supposed people called butterflies, but honestly, if it were up to her she would call them wasps. But even wasps were important, right? She thought she remembered reading about them at some point.
She swallowed a couple of times, at war with herself in her head about whether she should trust this seven year old who she had only began building a relationship with.
One look into her simple, kind eyes settled the decision.
“I don’t really like my name.” Her cousin answered, even though it was so much more than that. But they had to begin simple; how could one even explain something when they didn’t fully understand it themselves? “Could you call me another one?”
“Sure! Which?”
“Ed. As in Edmund.”
“That’s a boy’s name.” Johanna said without as much as blinking, and Ed took a deep breath. He’d gotten a lot of grief over that already, enough to know that the matter of fact tone in his cousin’s voice had no relation to any judgement, only with a child coming into contact with a concept for the first time.
“It is.”
“Cool. Anyway, what were you saying about the earthworms, Ed?”
Ed smiled, trying to recompose himself, and for the first time in his life, he felt truly safe.
…......
Johanna was studying during winter break.
All of her friends had discouraged her from it, claiming that High School had only just started, she should save energy instead of being overzealous, it would pay off to take time to herself.
But when had she ever listened?
She wasn’t behind on any subject, not that she could think of. It just felt like she wasn’t as deep into the topics as she could be, and either way, there was always studying ahead of time for topics that would still be taught. Every single minute she could use was necessary.
Taking a stretch after finishing a geometry worksheet, she’d just been popping her shoulder joints when her mother opened her bedroom’s door.
“Hey.” Johanna greeted, now trying to touch her toes. “Is it lunch time already?”
Her mother blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. “Not yet, your dad is still cooking. Have you heard from Lydia lately?”
Putting herself back in an upwards position, Johanna turned to face her mother. Here we fucking go again.
“Not really.” She lied. “We haven’t really talked since she moved away for college.”
As she stared fixedly at the ground, her mother nodded. It looked like images were flashing before her eyes as she faced the wood tiles, but Johanna could only guess what sort of image those were.
“She’s not coming for Christmas.”
“What? Why?” Johanna asked even though she already knew why. She’d stayed up late at night texting Edmund after it happened; for some reason she’d still been holding out hope that it wouldn’t reach her parents, and that things at her family would remain the same, just like they should.
“You know how she’s… changed since going to college.”
Oh, yeah, he’d changed all right. It tends to happen when you’re confined for so long and are presented to freedom for the first time. Not that Ed hadn’t been getting grief for “wanting to be a boy” his entire life. He’d presented as “tomboyish”, in their family’s words, since he’d been old enough to have a say in his appearance; people at his former school (and Johanna’s current one) had called him a butch lesbian even though he had exclusively dated guys. Their family was used to that already, even if they were never exactly pleased about it. Now, though, that he was living away and making some money of his own with research projects, the world was literally open to him.
And that was when the trouble began, because apparently you can only go so long without talking to your parents, even crappy ones, and it turns out that even crappy ones can recognize when your voice is inexplicably much deeper than it was last time you talked.
It had been a bold move on Ed’s part to start his transition without telling his parents, which spoke a lot about how much better it made him feel because Ed didn’t do “bold”. His parents had freaked out, Johanna’s parents had freaked out (even if they didn’t tell her), and Johanna herself had been watching from the backstage, biting her nails in anxiety over not being able to help her best friend.
“Yeah, I know.” She answered simply, hating herself for it. What she really wanted was to defend him. To make a scene and explain what was really going on, and how the people who were being irrational were, in fact, their parents. But she knew it would achieve nothing. All it would do was make her parents pay closer attention to her, wondering if “the queers were influencing her too” or something. Edmund himself had told her to let it be, I can deal with it on my own, don’t put yourself on the line of fire, please.
“Well… my sister is devastated, of course. She told me they decided they won’t be cutting her off. They still want her to get an education, of course, but they had a pretty big fight over this. It’s only generating conflict, and they don’t want this energy at the Christmas table. So she wasn't invited this year. I just thought you should know. Since you used to be so close and all of that.”
“I understand, thank you.”
Her mother nodded and quietly stepped out of the room, closing the door behind herself. Johanna walked to the box where she placed her phone while studying, and picked it up, opening her text conversation with Ed. The last messages had been sent approximately three hours before; he had sent her a pretty butterfly video from Twitter and she had reacted with a plethora of emojis, right before complaining about having to study maths.
Her fingers hovered above the keyboard as possible messages crossed her mind.
“Ed, you won’t believe this bullshit.”
“Ed, I’m so sorry.”
“Ed, what the FUCK?”
“Ed, are you okay??”
“Hey Ed, let’s pretend I didn’t just hear devastating news so please let’s talk about that show we sort of like that was cancelled for zero reasons.”
She sighed, and then groaned because a simple sigh didn’t feel like it was strong enough for that situation. All of those felt like poking the wound in a way that was either condescending or insensitive. It took her a lot of deliberation, but eventually she was able to press send. The answer came very shortly after, even though she didn’t see it because her phone had been back inside the Do Not Touch box and in silent mode.
You: Hey, I love you, k?
Cousin 🐛: wow you're SO obsessed with me 🙄🙄
I love you too Jo.
Truly.
Thank you
………
Edmund was officially losing it, and it was over lasagna.
He could cook. It was true! He cooked for himself and his cousin more often than not. But it was usually all practical meals, they weren’t meant to cause a good impression, much less dazzle. This one was, and he was having all sorts of insecurities over it.
Over pasta. Surefire way to know that he had, as the kids say, officially lost it.
“Do you think it doesn't have enough cheese?” He asked as he showed Johanna. “I’m wondering if it baked for too long. Would it be as good if I just put more Parmesan over it now? Maybe it would melt since it’s still hot.”
“Ed.” Johanna said firmly but gently, putting a hand on his shoulder. “It’s carbs and cheese. Everyone will love it. Don’t overthink this.”
He sighed and looked down at the tray in his hands, its temperature making its way to his skin even through the mittens he was wearing; the blush in his cheeks, which arose when he noticed how silly he must look, was only partially hidden by his stubble. “Yeah, I guess. I just want it to be as close to perfect as it can get, I suppose. It’s nothing.”
It wasn’t necessary for him to look up to know Johanna was smiling at him with a knowing expression. She had the annoying habit of doing that often.
“I did not have to listen to you rant about how perfection is a scam through my entire adolescence for you to pull this right now.” She quipped, and he knew it was only a joke to lighten the mood, because they both knew very well what this really was about. And it wasn’t about dinner. “I meant it, Ed. They’ll love it. You don’t have to put in any more effort.”
They’ll love you, was what she really said, and he could hear it perfectly. Come as you are. There won’t be any judgments tonight.
“Thanks.” He said, shoulders sagging just slightly. “Can you wrap this up with foil while I go finish getting ready?”
“Of course.” Johanna smiled at him and set to her task when he put the tray on the kitchen counter, and he went back to his bedroom to spray some cologne on himself and check that his hair was in place. Edmund wasn’t a vain person, never had been. But he could hardly be blamed for being anxious about the first family Christmas dinner he’d been invited to in eight years.
When he went back into the living room, Johanna was already waiting for him by the door, car keys on one hand and the fruit cake she’d baked earlier on the other. Their presents were already in the car trunk. After picking up the lasagna from the counter, Edmund followed her out, and they put the dishes on the backseats, hoping that they'd be safe during the fifteen minute trip to the Pilqvist house.
…......
“So, what’s the vibe there?” He asked while Johanna made her way out of campus. “What do they celebrate?”
“Funny you should ask, I asked Kaisa just the other day.” Johanna squinted, checking that it was safe to drive past an intersection since that part of the campus was dimly lit. “Kaisa is actually celebrating Christmas. Tildy celebrates Yule, but hosts this dinner four days late for her children, for tradition, and apparently because she’s obsessed with Christmas decoration. Kaisa said to expect a lot of it. Frida hasn’t settled on a religion or anything, so she just vibes with her family and eats too many cookies, but that might just be because my intel comes from her older sister. Also she apparently wants to wait for her prefrontal cortex to fully develop to decide if she’s going to choose any religious practices. This probably doesn’t tell you anything yet, but it’s a very Frida thing.”
Edmund hummed pensively. “Wait, you mean the elderly woman is neopagan?”
“Yes?” Johanna kept staring forward, but her cousin could almost sense the crease between her brows. “Why the tone of surprise?”
“I don’t know, just sounds very alternative for a lady of age.”
“Pft. If you knew Tildy, it wouldn’t. It’ll make sense, trust me.”
He fiddled with his fingers on his lap as they entered the highway, the luminosity instantly getting better. It wasn’t going to be a white Christmas; snow hadn’t yet come to them, but the atmosphere of winter all around them was still there. If he listened carefully, he might even hear the crackle of a fireplace, even though he’d never owned one.
“They sound nice.” He mentioned softly, and his cousin hummed in agreement by his side. “What will we tell them if they ask what we celebrate?”
“It’ll probably not be a problem. They’ll be too busy forcing us to feel welcome and eat delicious food.”
Edmund chuckled, pretending to be suddenly very interested in the buttons that controlled the car’s heating.
“I don’t know about you.” Johanna continued. She took his hand out of the car’s panel, holding it in one of hers while the other remained on the steering wheel. It wasn’t possible for her to actually look at him while they were on the road, of course, but they locked eyes through the rearview mirror. “But I am celebrating the people I love the most.”
Feeling a tightness in his chest, he squeezed her hand, and she squeezed it back. And, like it had always been between them, they knew what the other meant without ever saying it.
…......
It was well into the wee hours of the morning when Johanna drove Ed back to campus - which he thanked her for, since she didn’t need to. With it being the winter break, she could go to her parents’ home or stay over at Kaisa’s, but she sensed that he’d prefer to go back home and went with him to campus without any complaints. But when he did, it was with a gentle smile on his face, a festive sweater knit with his initials, which Tildy had given to all those in attendance, a new book on millipedes which Kaisa had bought him, and an unfamiliar sense of belonging he was sure he’d never known, because he never would have forgotten a feeling that good.
If he had to pinpoint where the feeling began, he would probably say that it had been at the beginning of the night, when he made a queer joke to Kaisa under his breath and, to his horror, she not only snorted loudly but also repeated the joke louder for her mother and sister to listen. They laughed along, and even though they didn’t know the quip had originally come from him, he had realised with a start that it wouldn’t have mattered. They would have welcomed him just the same. Tildy would still have given him the sweater with the correct initials, and Frida would still have gone up to him and made him questions about what it was like in the field of research.
It should have been an easier conclusion to come to since, you know, his cousin and Kaisa were embarrassing everyone under the mistletoe, but still. What you learn during your formative years tend to stick with you, but in that environment, he could drop that baggage down.
“I’m sorry I forgot your gift.” Johanna said sheepishly as they drove back, waking him up from the beginnings of a light sleep. “I knew exactly what to get you, so I could swear I had bought it.”
“Maybe you did. Maybe it’s just somewhere you didn’t find.”
“I hate that that’s a possibility. I’ll have to rummage through my bedroom now, and I might come up empty handed anyway.”
He shifted in the seat, trying to position himself more comfortably even though the ride would soon be over and he’d have no more time to rest inside the car. “Johanna, chill. I don’t need a present.”
“But you’re my cousin!”
“Exactly.” The corner of his lip twitched as he looked at her, knowing he’d be almost out of her eyesight. “I’m your cousin. And that is more than enough.”

😎 Now for my sergeant beef au thoughts brought on by the snow fall ❄️. I also should post more on this au but sadly I am having more Darkest Knight Au houghts. But I still love Sergeant Beef and want to keep that alive .
Obviously Nat and Yelena were born in Eastern Europe ( Nat in Russia 🇷🇺 and Yelena from Ukraine 🇺🇦) so the cold weather is baked into them and if they still lived in Ohio for a time than yeah they both know winter and snow very well. They probably played together in the snow all the time in the winter. Making snowmen , sledding , snowball fights ( god little Natty and Lenny would be so competitive in these little battles) , making snow angels ….. the whole nine yards. * Also Little Natty would very concerned with making sure that Lenny was all bundled up and warm ( Natty would tell her dad Alexei to be nice to her baby sister but then would purposely pull the hood over Lenny’s face and eyes ) . They would have enjoyed hot chocolate and getting all warmed up again.
I think the Beef siblings also lived and grew up in a place that had snow fall and winter and they did all the winter fun things that the Eastern European siblings did growing up . * But I think that the beef siblings also would shovel their neighbor’s driveway , steps and front door but did it anonymously. They didn’t want their neighbors knowing that is was them . *Sergeant Beef then slim jim probably even shoveled a path in the back yard for their childhood family dog as a kid too.
Now this winter they are a pouty sad little golden retriever beef because while they are getting better and growing stronger again , their nurse sister still forbids them to do any heavy lifting and anything that requires them to stand for long periods of time so that means no shoving snow . *Beef is sad because they planed on doing their yearly anonymous work of shoving the driveway of their elderly neighbors ( if they’re in a apartment complex they still put salt and shoving a path away for their neighbors) and were planning on doing the same for their sister and for Nat all of which anonymously of course ( they know that Nat is more than capable and their sister has her partner but they still want to do this because they love them and acts of service is one of their love languages) . They love doing things for people and making them happy, they are such a good one golden.
* While R is laying down on the couch they hear something and got up to see what that sounds was , only to find their In law shoving for them . They got up grabbing their wallet and as going to pay their in law . The in law was admittedly refusing payment until SB played dirty and said use the money to buy something for the baby knowing that In Law can’t say no to that.
* These are also based on me and my family a bit . When I was little and my sister would do this with my dad. She would check all the buttons and make sure Dad did everything correctly on my snow gear and making sure I was ok and going to be warm. Making sure Dad was being nice to me , her baby sister and then purposely pull my hood down over my face and eyes so I couldn’t see. My sister and I anonymously shoveled the driveway, steps and front door of our next door neighbor as kids ( I know that they were an older couple with adult children) and to my knowledge they never knew it was us. We never told them and we were never caught.
I shoved pathways in the backyard for my childhood family dog . I also shovel pathways and lay down salt at my apartment complex anonymously for my neighbors now as an adult . Back in the day my Dad would shovel the driveway of a neighbor that he had known growing up and that neighbor was in her older years. Dad was caught shoveling her driveway and she was insisting on paying him for it but he admittedly refused until the neighbor played dirty and said get something for the baby ( my sister as I wasn’t born yet) KNOWING my dad couldn’t say no to that . To this day I have never been caught and the people I have anonymously shoveled/ laid down salt for has never known it was me sooo shhhhh it’s our little secret 🤫 🤐.
The last bit of this post. I can see both Kate and SB respectively looking at their Eastern European sibling in absolute Awwwe as all the snow fakes get caught in their Red / Blonde hair.
SB ( Not even trying to hide it ) and Kate( thinks she is hiding it but isn’t) : absolute heart eyes 😍 and CONVINCE that this is an ANGEL in person.
Nat and Yelena ( May or May Not have a thing for ✨KaTe BiShoP✨) : Looking at their person and thinking/ doing the same thing.
I full heartedly believe that Yelena called Nat ( I believe she did in the BW Ohio flash back) Natty and still does as an adult because that is HER NAME for her big sister ( I have a similar thing for my own big sister. A nickname only I call her) and Nat called and still calls Yelena Lenny which again only her sister calls her that ( maybe one Katherine Elizabeth Bishop does or could too ? 👀👀👀)
I'm so happy you're here to keep the Sergeant Beef universe alive while I devote all my attention to Wolvie!R right now lol
I feel bad now that you're naming all the fun, happy things people do in the winter/snow when I am just sitting here freezing and without snow lol. Since SB was a little beanstalk in their youth, would they have even been able to lift a shovel full of snow? 😂
And that's a very sweet memory you have of your own family. :) Do you still shovel snow for them? And of course, your secret is safe with us.
I love how in love SB is with Nat ❤️

Could I formally request ~building a snowman~ with Steve Harrington?
Tis I, the funky little fella who wanted to build a snowman with Steve Harrington! (Thanks again for taking a male reader request, I’ve never done this because I only really see female reader stuff. It’s totally fine if it’s GN, I’m just excited to be here 😅)
Building a snowman - Steve Harrington x reader, GN!Reader
“Stevie! Come on, it’s snowing!” You said as you jumped back onto the bed. “What?” Steve groaned. “Come on, we have to build a snowman” You said pulling him into a sitting position. “We’re both still in our pyjamas, honey” He said as you yanked the covers off of him. “I know, hurry up and change” you said throwing clothes onto the bed. You both got dressed and headed outside. “It’s cold out baby” He said wrapping his arms around you. “Steve, of course it’s cold out. It’s snowing” You said scooping some snow off the ground. Turning around you took the snow in your hand and set it right on his head.
“Really? That’s how you want to play it?” He said scooping up his own snow. “I mean kinda of” You said throwing more snow at him before running away. You were not that far away from Steve when you felt snow hit your back. “We’re meant to be making snowmen not having a snowball fight” You called back as you kneeled in the snow. “You started it” He called moving towards you. “Yeah, whatever you say” you said as you took a snowball and started rolling it around. “What part do you want to make?” He said kneeling next to you.
“I’ll make the bottom if you work on the middle” You said smiling at him. You continued to roll snow till you thought you had a big enough ball, looking over at steve and realising his middle was bigger than your bottom you continued rolling. “Steve stop rolling that” you said across the yard. “What?” He yelled back. “Steve your ball is too big” You yelled at him. “That’s what she said” He laughed as you glared at him. “I’m sorry” He said between laughs as you throw snow at him. “It wasn’t that funny, baby” You yelled.
“Are you gonna use that as the middle or do you still want that as the bottom, cause I’m pretty sure it might topple if you put that on the bottom.” He said moving over to you. “We can use it as the middle” You said picking it up and walking over to Steve’s forgotten snowball. “Do you want to make the head or do you want me to?” He said following you. “You can make it I’ll run in and get the scarf and hat” You said kissing his forehead before rushing inside. Grabbing a hat and scarf off the hook, you rushed back outside.
When you reached Steve he had already put the base together. You kneeled in front of the snowman and then leaned up to put the hat and scarf on him. “Baby can you go get twigs and rocks?” You asked turning to look at him. He nodded before running off towards the forest behind his house. He came running back a few minutes later with multiple twig and rocks. “Which ones do you like best?” He said collapsing next to you. “You know you didn’t have to run?” You said taking the sticks from him and giving the snowman some arms.
“I know I didn’t have to, but I missed you” he said leaning over and kissing your cheek. “I miss you too” You said turning and pecking his lips. He started putting the rocks on as buttons and eyes, and you stuck a smaller twig as it’s nose. “I think it looks good love. Can we go inside? It’s freezing” He said pulling you up. “Yeah we can go in now” You said grabbing his hand and pulling him back towards the house. “Let’s make hot chocolate and cuddle” He said sliding your coat off your shoulders. “Sounds good love” you said smiling at him as he left to the kitchen.

Hello ! How do you think the boys spend the winter? And Christmas?
Headcanons of the boys in the Winter :
Hi! How are you?! I hope you are well! ^^
I have received several requests about winter. So I would do a winter headcanon, one about Christmas and one about boys taking a holiday in a cottage for the winter.
So here is the first one on what boys do in winter. ^^
I hope you like it!
Have a nice day and take care of yourself! ^^
Vladimir :
As a child he loved this season. It got dark early so he could play outside for longer and even if he got sick regularly his parents would take care of him. He sometimes spent several hours wrapped up in a blanket with his mother or father telling him nice stories. If it wasn't too cold, his parents would go outside to play with him, which made him very happy.
Ever since he was turned, he has hated it. The first snow reminds him of the snowball fights he used to have with his family or the snowmen he used to build together in the garden. There are no more flowers growing in his garden, which also depresses him a lot. The others often find him sitting in front of a window staring into space. Fortunately, everyone in the manor knows that this is a very difficult time for Vladimir, so everyone makes an effort to make him laugh a little and not leave him alone with his dark thoughts too often.
Of course, he gets cold easily. So he spends a lot of time in front of the fireplace, especially when the temperatures get negative. When he goes out, he is wrapped up in so many layers of clothes that you can only see his eyes. Once when he went out in town with Aaron, the wolf was even forced to lend him his coat because Vladimir was shivering. He has a whole range of winter clothes knitted by Aaron, from big jumpers to wool socks and hats.
He sometimes accompanies the others ice skating on the lake near the manor. However, he never ice skates. His parents when he was a child were too afraid that he would fall and get hurt, so they never taught him to do it and once he was alone he didn't really want to learn to ice skate. So he just stands on the edge of the lake and watches the others ice skate, often Raphael stops to keep him company. None of the boys have managed to convince him to learn to ice skate with them. Even though Ethan has promised not to make fun of him if he falls.
He sometimes makes biscuits with Beliath and Raphael, but he's really not a good cook compared to the other two. In fact, the big problem is that he is very clumsy. He often drops dishes or ingredients, or even a whole kilo of sugar in the dough. At first he was a bit ashamed of this, but as the other two assured him that it was more about spending time together than actually cooking, he's having a bit more fun now. The only time he doesn't trash everything he touches is when it comes to decorating the shortbread. He spends a lot of time on each one he makes, so he doesn't go very fast but they are objectively very pretty.
It always takes a little while to convince him to come and have a snowball fight outside. At first he complains a lot about the cold, but he gradually relaxes and starts to really enjoy himself. He almost always teams up with Aaron or Raphael and he almost always aims at Beliath (even though he misses every time) he doesn't want to shoot at the others and he finds that Ethan throws his snowballs way too hard for him to want to try and aim at him.
Sometimes, if Ivan insists enough, he goes out with the youngest to make snowmen. However, he has a little trouble deciding whether he likes making snowmen or not. On the one hand, it makes him happy to see Ivan happy, but on the other hand he can't forget that he used to make snowmen with his siblings and parents and he feels a bit sad every time. However, the snowmen they both make are usually very nice, even if they take a long time to make one.
He also often reads in front of the fireplace with Raphael, drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows or tea with gingerbread. Vladimir takes advantage of the winter to reread his favourite books with him. These are moments that he enjoys quite a lot, as Raphael usually spends the whole evening with him.
Béliath :
He has no memory of snow as a child. It must be said that before he was a teenager, he almost never went out of the succubus dimension, and even less without his sister who always preferred summer and spring to go out with her little brother. The first time he went out on earth in winter was when Léandra was teaching him to hunt. And he only remembered two things, snow is cold, and... it was really too cold. His sister had to insist a lot to make him go out again in winter, and since then every time he has to go out at this time he is a bit sulky.
He hated winter for a long time. But that's changed a bit since he's been living with the others, he's started to enjoy this season. Mainly because Ethan loves winter more than any other season. So he often comes to him to go skiing or ice skating together, he doesn't always have the heart to refuse especially since it seems to make Ethan very happy. He has also heard a lot about what the others did in winter when they were children and he must admit that sometimes he regrets not having been able to go and play in the snow with his sister.
He doesn't like the cold, although he can stand it better than Raphael or Vladimir. The others often complain that Beliath's hands are icy, and it is not for nothing that Aaron has already knitted him several pairs of gloves. Beliath never forgets to wear thick woolen socks when he goes outside at this time of year and he never forgets his hat either, because he hates feeling as if the tips of his ears are frozen.
He remembers well the first time he went ice skating with the others (they all gave in to Ethan's insistence). He never imagined that ice skating would be so difficult and even though he didn't fall once thanks to his good sense of balance he never had so much trouble staying on his two legs. It was still an outing he really enjoyed and since then he has been going back quite regularly and has even become quite good at it. He even has speed contests with Ethan sometimes, although the doctor always wins.
Raphael often comes to him to cook together in the winter. They make simple biscuits if Vladimir cooks with them, but when he doesn't and Vladimir just watches them, they start to make more complicated dishes. Beliath especially likes to cook Yule logs, Raphael likes them a lot, especially if they are chocolate. They also often make Canelés or Gugelhupf. Beliath enjoys these moments very much and they enjoy them even more when the others enjoy and compliment his cooking.
He is always one of the first to start a snowball fight. And he usually starts them with Ethan, who he almost always teams up with. His favourite targets are Ivan and Aaron, because they are much more challenging. He doesn't like to target Raphael and Vladimir, especially because Vladimir is easily injured in snowball fights and Raphael always comes to his defence.
He doesn't really like making snowmen, well, he likes to but it's not his favourite thing to do in winter. When he makes a snowman, he likes to take care of the decoration, he's quite meticulous when he really starts and so he can look for a long time for the perfect branch to make an arm. This suits Ethan rather well, with whom he teams up against Ivan every time.
The best thing about winter is that he can slip into a warm bath at the end of the night, especially if he has spent a lot of time outside. Normally, Beliath spends a lot of time in the bathroom, but it's even worse in winter. The heat in the bathroom in winter is sometimes like a sauna.
Ivan :
It's not his favourite season, but he enjoys it all the same. He liked it a bit more as a child though. He used to wait impatiently for the first snowflakes to fall so that unfortunately the bus couldn't take him to school because of the snow on the road. So the days were spent playing outside with the other kids in the neighbourhood having snowball fights and snowmen until it started to get dark and he was forced to go home.
He has a lot less fun in winter now that he is stuck with "the old people". He always has to insist that someone come and make a snowman with him. He doesn't like food as much as he used to and it's quite rare that someone agrees to make a raclette or a fondue bourguignonne with him. However, he often manages to convince Aaron or Raphael to play board games with him.
He doesn't handle the cold very well, but he handles it much better than Vladimir, Raphael or Beliath. He only needs to wear a coat and boots to keep out the cold. In the manor, he mostly wears thick woollen socks and a jumper knitted by Aaron.
He is very good at ice skating. His parents used to take him skating, so he was more than happy to find out that the boys often went skating on the lake near the manor. It's always a fun time for him, although he spends a lot of time bickering with Ethan about which one of them is better. Ethan wins almost every race they run against each other, but the more time passes the more he wins. When he's not arguing with Ethan, he's trying to convince Vladimir to come on the ice with them, he'd love to teach him how to ice skate although he understands that with Ethan being quite rough on the ice, it's not reassuring.
As a human, he would certainly have insisted on making a raclette. But as he doesn't really eat human food any more, he makes do with the biscuits that Raphaël and Béliath bake with Vladimir. Sometimes, he even comes to decorate them with them, he is not really good at decorating shortbread and he always has the impression that his are much less pretty than the others. But the other three don't seem to mind, so he still comes to decorate them from time to time.
He is Ethan's first target in snowball battles. He always tries to team up with Aaron or Raphael, but never with Vladimir who loses too easily. Ivan is a pretty good player and he is not as easy a target as one might think, usually the others stop well before him and Ethan while the fight drags on between them.
He is the one who insists on making snowmen in the garden. He often competes with Ethan to see which of their two snowmen is the best looking. Most of the time, it's Aaron who does it with him, but Aaron is not really motivated by the idea so the snowmen are not always very successful. When he manages to convince Vladimir on the other hand, he takes much longer to make a snowman but it is always much more successful.
When he has nothing to do, he likes to keep Aaron company while he knits in front of the fireplace. He is always impressed by the speed with which Aaron can make a scarf or a pair of gloves. The wolf has already tried to teach him several times, but Ivan quickly gives up, especially because of Ethan's mockery of his scarves and holey jumpers. This makes him feel stupid, despite Aaron's encouragement that you can't learn to knit in two days.
Aaron :
He always preferred autumn. When he was a child his mother was so afraid of him getting cold in the winter that she wrapped him up in so many clothes that he could hardly move, he really didn't like that. But she would also play with him outside when she wasn't busy making remedies for the people in their village so it made up for the boredom of being bundled up to his neck in clothes. He also enjoyed the times when she would tell him stories in their little house by the fire. He always ended up falling asleep, lulled by her words and feeling safe.
Today, it is still not his favourite season, but he thinks about it with nostalgia. He makes sure that Vladimir is not left alone to dwell on his past, he spends time with Raphael and Ivan, talks with Beliath and tries to find ideas so that Ethan does not break anything because of boredom. The rest of the time, he takes the opportunity to knit or to go for a walk in the forest to enjoy the calm of the winter nights. It is quite rare that someone accompanies him outside at this season.
He can handle the cold very well thanks to the fact that he is a werewolf, and on several occasions he has gone outside in a T-shirt when the temperature was below zero. Every time Vladimir sees him like this, he looks at him with wide eyes. And Ethan has already come out several times and demanded that he at least put on a waistcoat.
He had been ice skating before he met the others when he was still travelling in a pack. Even though it is not his favourite sport, he quite enjoys accompanying them to the lake. When they all go together, he spends a lot of time talking with Raphael while skating on the ice. He doesn't really like racing with Ethan or Ivan because he is always afraid that one of them will get hurt trying to go faster than the other. The rest of the time he tries to convince Vladimir to join them, he almost succeeded last time, but Vladimir changed his mind at the last minute. On the whole, he's pretty good, although he doesn't have the level of Ethan, Ivan or Beliath at this sport.
He hardly ever cooks, it's not really something he's interested in generally and he doesn't feel he's good enough to do it. But he almost always drops by the kitchen to pick up some biscuits while the others are busy. And sometimes he even comes in to decorate the biscuits with the others, which is something he quite enjoys as they often get together to do it.
He really enjoys snowball fights, especially teaming up with Ivan, although Raphael is also a good teammate. However, he has to remind Ethan quite often not to throw his snowballs too hard at the others. Of course, he understands that he is having a lot of fun, but Vladimir is rather sensitive to pain and Raphael quite protective of the aristocrat.
Ivan never has much trouble convincing him to make snowmen with him. He was even the only one to give in the first time Ivan asked if anyone wanted to come and make one with him. It brings back fond memories of making snowmen with his mother and the few children the pack could have. His snowmen are not the most successful though, he is more interested in having fun than in making something beautiful.
He knits a lot in winter when he stays at the manor. It's an old habit he's kept. Most of the time he makes scarves and jumpers for the other boys, and he has a whole collection of knitting balls and needles in his room. It makes him happy to see everyone wearing the clothes he makes to keep warm when they go out. Even Ethan, who keeps saying it's a grandma's activity, ends up wearing what he knits for him.
Raphaël :
He hated winter as a child, but it wasn't because of the cold. As it got dark much earlier he wasn't allowed to stay out playing as long as usual and he got told off quite often for going out past curfew by several hours and having to be picked up by his parents all over the city streets. It didn't stop him from doing it again the next day, but it wasn't as much fun as in the summer.
Now, he has a slightly more nuanced view of winter. He likes the nights to be longer, although he does not like the cold. Otherwise, he finds this season much quieter than the others and enjoys the silence that comes with it. He also likes to spend time with Vladimir in front of the fireplace reading books while drinking hot chocolate or tea.
Raphaël really can't stand the cold! He's on a loop about it and it's all he talks about. He's cold, it's cold, he doesn't like the snow. His feet are frozen (Beliath has told him to wear boots instead of his little shoes but Raphaël stubbornly refuses). His hands are frozen and he starts shivering as soon as he goes outside. Ethan and Aaron had to give him their coats more than once so he could warm up a bit and stop shivering. Because of this, Aaron often knits him a big woollen scarf, the only thing Raphael agrees to wear that is different from his usual outfit without protesting too much.
He is quite good at ice skating, even if he is far from the level of Ethan, Ivan or Beliath. He usually has fun chatting with Aaron while skating and when he feels tired he joins Vladimir on the lake shore to chat with him. Most of the time they go home together to make a chocolate and continue their discussion in front of the fireplace.
He loves to cook with Beliath and it is usually he who comes up with the idea. However, he eats what he cooks quickly, so the gingerbread men and the biscuits are devoured as soon as they come out of the oven, and it's better not to mention the canelés, which are rarely lucky enough to make it to the table. This makes Beliath roll his eyes and wish he could let others taste his cooking. He also likes it when Vladimir comes to cook with them, because even if the aristocrat is not a good cook, seeing him really enjoying himself always makes him happy. For the rest, he rarely decorates the biscuits because he is too busy eating them.
Just like Vladimir, it is quite difficult to convince him to have a snowball fight. However, even if he doesn't shoot often, he almost always hits his target. His biggest advantage is that he manages to be forgotten during the battles. He is so discreet that sometimes the others are right next to him without even seeing him. This allows him to hit them without much difficulty. Aaron likes to have him in his team because of this, but he is more often in Vladimir's team.
He doesn't really like snowmen. His hands always get cold even with big gloves and he has a hard time being as precise as he would like to be with them. Moreover, as he never puts on winter boots, he ends up with frozen feet. However, he always gives in when Ivan comes to ask him to do it with him, after all, if it makes Ivan happy, he can stand to have his hands frozen for an hour.
He tries not to be noticed too much by Vladimir, but he often goes to Beliat to watch Christmas movies on his portable DVD player. Even though he knows that it's always the same stories and that no matter what happens the protagonists will always end up together, he can't help but watch them again and again.
Ethan :
It's Ethan's favourite season, and that was the case even as a child. He loves snow, really. When he was a child he looked forward to the first snowflakes so much that his parents laughed. He often went sledding or skiing with them and he remembers very well the first time he got on skis. He couldn't stand up all day, but he wouldn't forget the memory for anything.
It's still a season he enjoys. Even if there is now a lot of nostalgia when he thinks back on it. He is in such a good mood that he even becomes nicer to Ivan, much to the relief of everyone in the manor.
In winter he spends a lot of time outside in the forest or in town. He loves the cold and can handle it very well. However, he doesn't do what Aaron does and he doesn't go outside in a T-shirt. So he always wraps himself in a big jumper knitted by Aaron and a coat.
He was the one who first proposed the idea of going ice skating on the lake near the manor. It's often frozen over enough in winter that no one risks going through the ice and it's one of his favourite activities of the season. He remembers that his father taught him how to do it and, without boasting, he has become quite good at it over time. He can do tricks and wins almost all his races against Ivan. Moreover, it pleases him to see that for once an activity he proposes pleases everyone, even if Vladimir doesn't want to skate with them although he promised him not to make fun of him and not to try to make him fall.
He never cooks, it's not that he doesn't like it, but rather that he is even less talented than Vladimir in the kitchen. Sometimes he comes and watches Beliath and Raphael while he cooks. He is very critical of everything they do, but he loves to eat the dough for the biscuits while the other two don't look at him. When he goes out in town, he always looks for a hot chestnut seller, he loves to eat them in winter and he always ends up bringing back a packet for Raphaël.
He usually starts snowball fights with Beliath. He's the only one who doesn't complain that he throws his snowballs too hard at the others, probably because he always teams up with him. Over time, he stopped targeting Vladimir and concentrated almost exclusively on Ivan. The younger man is harder to hit than he first thought and he ends up having a pretty good time with him, even though he's not going to let him get any wins in this game.
Before Ivan came to the manor, he hadn't made a snowman in years. But now that Ivan is here... He can't tolerate the youngest one making snowmen better than his own, it's a matter of pride. So he goes to find Beliath to have a snowman contest against Ivan. Sometimes he has a little trouble convincing the half-succubus, but he always succeeds in the end. He leaves it up to Beliath to find the objects to dress and decorate the snowman while he tries to make the roundest balls possible without hesitating to start over several times if it doesn't suit him.
This is quite rare because Beliath rarely accompanies him and the others don't like to know that he goes skiing alone in the mountains. But sometimes he goes out to ski, he is careful not to stray too far from the manor, however, so that he can always return before daybreak.
Neil :
Winter is one of the few good memories he has of his childhood. In fact, it is the few memories he has of a normal childhood. He would go outside to play as soon as the first snowflakes fell, he would have snowball fights with other kids he met, he didn't always win but at least he had some fun. When he came home after having fun, he would hide by the fire to keep warm, it was fun but it didn't last long.
By the time he was a teenager, he was no longer enjoying himself in this way. He had too much to think about and above all he had to prove himself and survive. He likes winter for its quietness and its snowy landscapes. He often goes for a walk in nature to admire the landscape and enjoy the silence. Since the invention of the camera, he sometimes goes outside to take pictures of the landscape.
Before, the cold didn't really bother him and he could handle it quite well. But since he left the cellar he has been aching all over as soon as the temperature approaches zero. He never complains, though, and just rubs and blows on his hands to try to warm up. He feels like he has become so weak since he can't stand the cold as well.
He knows how to ice skate, he's even pretty good at it. He doesn't really remember how or when he learned to skate. But he does it whenever he can, especially if there's no one else on the lake but him.  He hasn't done it since he got out of the cellar, he's not sure he's as good as he used to be, and most of all, he knows it's a stupid fear and that his bones are strong, but he's afraid of breaking a few things so he hasn't dared to try again.
He likes sweet food in general, but he has never taken the time to bake biscuits or pastries himself. However, he buys pastries a bit more often in winter, often it's small strawberry Yule logs and more rarely waffles with whipped cream.
He hasn't had a snowball fight in centuries. In fact, the last time he had one was with one of his concubines. He thought it was a bit stupid, or so he says. In fact, he had a lot of fun, although he never got the chance to do it again.
The last time he made a snowman was with one of his children. He was in a very good mood that day so he gave in to the boy's request, even though he finds it a bit hard to admit it frankly, it's a good memory. Since then, he hasn't done it again.
Most of the time he likes to stay warm in his house in winter. He reads under a blanket in front of the fireplace, takes warm baths and when he really has nothing to do tries a new bun to show off his hair.
